MATH IS NOT ALL ABOUT FUCKING MEMORIZATION!!!!!! I AM NOT A CALCULATOR, I JUST KNOW HOW TO USE ONE!!!

I don't think we should stop teaching kids things like long multiplication/division because there is value in being able to manipulate numbers and correctly carry out an algorithmic process, but I do think we spend way more time on it than we should (at least at my school).

I hate to sound like the 'we basically always have a calculator so what's the point?' complainer kid, but... we very much do have access to a calculator most of the time. So I think kids would benefit from less time cranking out arithmetic problems and more time:

Practising good calculator use

Learning to use things like estimation, inverse calculations, parity, and check digits to spot a wrong answer

Looking at a problem and figuring out which sums to do (we already do this, but there should be more of it and calculator use should be allowed more often)

This is more for younger kids, but taking the time to make sure they understand exactly what each operation actually means (this will make the above point easier because a sentence about sharing something out between different people will scream 'division')

Learning more about the properties of the different operations (which are commutative and which aren't, which are inverses of each other - maybe things like being able to cancel factors before you divide or how multiplying by a and then by b is the same as multiplying by ab, but I know some kids who would really struggle with that)

Problem solving and logical thinking

There's way more, but anyway I think it's less important for a kid to be able to do, say, 34 x 59 by hand than it is for them to be able to recognise something like 93 (accidentally pressing + instead of x) or 3105 (pressing 5 before x instead of after) as a wrong answer.

You take away the music video and the 'childrens song' discord goes away despite their being nothing wrong with the music video. I think it's the contrast between what we've seen from him previosuly and what this is, god forbig he make something light and airy. The children in the music video probably don't help with peoples childrens song fixation either but it literally doesn't matter.

I like it, I like that it's something different, I think it fits him well. It remind me of George Ezra. For me when I hear 'Marching band' and 'Jimin' in the same sentence that was exactly what I was thinking of, a Jiminified marching band.

People can have their opinions but I stg it's exhausting being around some of y'all.

I think people have a very set image of Jimin even despite the praise he gets for being non stagnant with his music. And it’s literally just “cunty.” and “melancholy”

Like there’s no feasible way any of you really went into MUSE thinking it was gonna be FACE 2.0 when he’s already said bright and happy was the direction it was going in. Were we literally not just discussing the interconnection between FACE and MUSE? Why would he double back to what he’s already done?

All this negativity remind me of how there was people who really didn’t like STARBOY by The Weeknd initially (literally one of my fav albums of all time) because it was too pop-ish and didn’t have the dark feel of his previous album. People tend to like artists music more when they’re introspective and “deep” but that was probably never going to be Jimin’s entire brand. His feelings during FACE reflected a down period in his life. He’s moved past it.

coming in alone - even if his costume is part of a trouple - doesn't bother eunwoo. being alone doesn't bother eunwoo at all, period. most of the time, the thoughest part of being a trainee for him is having to be around people almost constantly. and thus, it's also no surprise that while going on the carpet alone is a none issue, having to pose in front of so many strangers is the part of the evening that he dislikes the most. he doesn't bask in the flashes and the attention of the crowd. he just stays long enough for his costume to be captured and quickly flees to safety inside the venue.

while he hasn't earned his way in just yet, he still lets out a sigh of relief when the doors close behind him and the noise of the crowd is cut short. this is one of those moment that remind him why he feels like the idol path isn't for him; he has no interest in big crowds and fame, and idols exist forbig crowds and survive by their fame.

but it's just a passing thought. something he files in a corner of his mind to be examined later when he will be ready to weigh the pros and cons each career paths opened to him. however, there's a place and time for this. and doing so while trying to figure out which decorations are and aren't edible isn't said place and time.

furthermore, he has no intention of considering life changing decisions on the eve of his birthday. eyeing suspiciously a stop sign is a lot more appropriate. especially since it turns out that the sign IS edible. and also, unfortunately, the only correct item that he finds at his first try (and second try). after two more explorations, he finally completes his set of edible items and gain entrance to the actual party.

honestly same, most of it is so off-putting and unrelatable to me that i’ve pretty much given up on trans content completely, bc at this point i’d rather miss out on a potentially good fic than risk reading another word of some chaser’s shitty fever dream? and that is, imho, really fucking sad.
