indeed, it seems baffling that leander, our reliable man, our nice guy, the nicest of the nicest, just forgets to warn mc about such a tiny little detail, easily forgettable for sure — that eridia's streets are unsafe at night 💀

he quickly covers it up by flirting — and boy, can i wait (can't, need this game right now) to see more of such instances, because he seems to master this craft, and it is working on most people, — hinting at mc's beauty and/or the intimate (and it is intimate for mc, whether you like leander or not) moment they shared.

but do you know the most important, tasty nuanced thing this tiny, blink-and-you-miss-it dialogue reveals? leander doesn't care about mc, about their life and safety; he's niceys, it's all just an act. sure, cap, you might say, we already know leander is a manipulative titty shit, what's new? but look at it another way: we know this because rss kindly backed us up with all this additional info and content so we don't starve to death while waiting for the release (rss, i would have gone through content drought anyway. this is not a shade, take your time, i love you). now imagine playing this game for the first time without a pile of lore stacked at the back of your mind and seeing these discrepancies in his behaviour (check out my previous post on this), foreshadowing that he's not as good as he seems and his path might be dark and gritty as hell.

and now, my fellow leander girls/gays/whoever else is there, imagine how it would feel when leander cares (faints).

funny story about aai2 i started watching an lp of it like 3 years ago but was kinda losing interest in aa in general so i dropped it, came back to the exact same lp in like may-ish and then like 2 days before i finished the lp the collection was announced. LIKE U COULDNT HAVE ANNOUCED IT LIKE A MONTH EARLIER SO I COULD PLAY IT FOR MYSELF COME ON CAPCOM

I just realized I did a thing for my 911 what if that could actually kill me (positive)

Like, I brought Sal back in like a guest role, he and Tommy reconnect in s2 after Tommy's out.

And throughout s3 there are bits and pieces of their friendship, simple things like going out for drinks, game nights, Tommy talks about him at work and stuff.

And so, Sal met a woman, Gina, in s2 and by the end of s3 he announced to Tommy that they're getting married. Tommy is happy.

And like, in s4 they send the invitations and Sal personally tells Tommy he added a plus one for him just in case, asks if there's someone *raised eyebrow* and Tommy's just like *nervous laughter* 'cause there is but technically there isn't someone (Does casual sex with your coworker who you used to hate but now you don't know how you feel about him counts?).

So, one night after they have sex Tommy simply blurts out the question, and Buck is like confused but also interested. They talk about it and he agrees to go.

Cute wedding shenanigans, Tommy tears up during a speech he made while Buck looks at him like 🥺, they have a dance, get a little (too) horny, and obviously have sex.

And Buck and Tommy are still in this messy casual secret fling that nobody can know about. And they're still idiots about it.

Edit: because I thought more about it.

And also, Tommy asks Buck if he doesn't mind kissing or dancing in public since well they're still a secret. Buck asks if there's anyone that knows them and besides Sal and maybe Gina, nobody does.

So, this turns out to be the first time they get to do things out in the open and don't have to hide or be in areas where nobody knows them.

And if they look at each other's eyes when they're slow dancing and feel *something*, they don't talk about it.

She pulled him up and they found themselves atop the rock, holding hands, face-to face. Hazel's eyes glittered like gold. Gold is easy, she'd said. It didn't seem that way to Leo--not when he looked at her. He wondered who Sammy was. Leo had a nagging suspicion that he should know, but he just couldn't place the name. Whoever he was, he was lucky if Hazel cared for him. "Um, thanks." He let go of her hand, but they were still standing so close, he could feel the warmth of her breath. She definitely didn't seem like a dead person.

yeah this whole scene from moa deserves its own post because there's just so much going on here. we were ROBBED by not having a frank pov in this book

i think "nonbinary" can be useful but a lot of times the way it is being used isn't helpful to actually discussing nonbinary people, especially since it is a HUGE umbrella term with very few boundaries. like there are nonbinary men & women, so positioning "nonbinary" as something intrinsically separate from man/woman isn't accurate. or there are times where it would be more useful to name the specific group (like multigender people, androgynes, abinary/aphorians) rather than a much vaguer term

in general the problem is that our language to describe nonbinary existence is basically some scraps held together with duct tape. there's sooo many ways in which nonbinary people are erased or binaried through language. not just through the lack of gender neutral options but the la of blatantly genderqueer ones.

i kinda feel like as of right now, nonbinary-ness is pretty slapdash & all over the place and it would be helpful to have a large-scale discussion on what terminology would be best for discussing things like exorsexism and it's various aspects, and how to talk about nonbinary people without homogenizing us, while ALSO acknowledging the need for umbrella terms that can cover a range of individual identities, even if people don't personally identify with the umbrella term itself. & on that note we should also probably discuss the issue of. like. perfectionism wrt nonbinary language & the way that potentially useful terms get lost bc of it. I don't think nonbinary people can really achieve meaningful equality and inclusion on the same level until we are able to have equally diverse and useful ways of describing ourselves, and a stronger understanding of how we relate to each other as a community.

Like man I do love a good romance like Live Up To Your Name or Tell Me That You Love Me but I just. I haven’t seen any show with more love in it than Twinkling Watermelon. Like yes there’s romance. There’s two wonderful couples! But there’s also love between a father and a son. And a mother and son. Between best friends. Between members of a band. Between brothers. Between a grandmother and her grandson. And then her great-grandson. Two teenagers falling in love and healing. A couple that have been together for nearly three decades and are still completely in love and in tune with each other. A divorced woman who still thinks back on her early days with her husband with softness and affection. A mother and a daughter. A mentor and a mentee. A group of boys excitedly welcoming their friend’s new girlfriend into their group and learning sign language for her. Even in the face of terrible people full of hate, this show is filled to the brim with every sort of love. And that love is what saves them.

I'm curious what people think about Victor and Eli's relationship during the Lockland Era. I'm of the opinion that Eli cared about Victor as a person more than Victor cared about him, which isn't to say I don't think Victor cared, but I think his care was a lot more focused on himself and how Eli made *him* feel. This isn't an analysis or anything, really. I don't have evidence from the books to back me. I'm just more sharing a headcannon than anything. If anyone has any thoughts on this please share them I'm curious
