Click for better quality
Had a dream where Marcille made a Totk-esque dragon version of herself that she could summon and switch her mind to for various reasons.
Ramblings about the dream and art process below:
Warning for flashing lights, and colors especially towards the end
In the dream the main reason was to protect herself (and furina who was also there for some reason??) from an assassination attempt. Technically she succeeded because she didn't die BUT it was only because her mind and soul were evenly split between the dragon body and her body which was able to somehow keep them both alive.
Furina died tho rip to a queen I guess (tho technically she was already dead shes basically puppeting her own corpse literally all the time according to the dream, like her body is "alive" but her soul is in her gem thingy so she can "die" but as long as she has the gem she can resurrect herself infinitely and basically live forever, so to "kill" her they took the gem and are basically waiting for her body to expire, they can't break it cuz the gem is indestructible)
It was a weird dream all in all but I liked some of the designs, I have a doodle of furinas I might clean up. There was also a sense of unease for every character- Link was there too- and they all recognized they weren't supposed to be here and that the world around them was wrong. Like they could see that the logic didn't make sense, and that they shouldnt be able to do the things they do (furina resurrection and Marcille dragon)
But it wasn't a they are in a dream scenario (even tho yeah they were lol) they were taken from their world to a real place but that place was just wrong
Anyway enough rambling here's the process of making the dragon, warning for flashing colors

Top Femslash Ships Bracket: Seeding
As promised, we're back with a new bracket! However, we're doing things a little differently this time. Rather than taking the data for seeding directly from a ranked list, we want you guys to be a part of the seeding process!
> Here is the Femslash Bracket Seeding Survey! <
This survey contains a list of over 100 ships, pulled from centreoftheselights's AO3 ship stats for 2023 and 2024, and Tumblr's year in review, as well as a few submissions that are not on either list but are considered iconic or historically important. It asks two questions: which ships have you heard of, and which ships do you view positively? The final seeding for the bracket will be based on a ratio of these numbers, from which we will rank the top 96!
A few notes regarding this survey:
Please answer as honestly as you can! Yes, that does mean going through a long list of ships twice in order to check all the relevant boxes, but such is the price we pay for accurate data.
Please only submit the survey once! While we normally delight in voter fraud, artificially boosting your favorite ship in this survey will only skew the results with no benefit; in fact, it could potentially hurt your chances in the actual bracket!
Do, however, feel free to reblog this post so we get a larger sample size.
The form does require that you be logged into a Google account; however, we are not collecting email addresses, and responses will be fully anonymous.
As always, this poll is a celebration of fandom and fandom history; we're aware that there are certain issues with many of the listed pairings and sources, but they are a part of that history. Please do not take this as an endorsement, and refrain from harassment.
We will be collecting responses until December 22, at 11:59 pm EST.
Take the survey here!

I love Izutsumi. She's got a great design, she's a fun addition to the main party, she adds some new tension, and she's honestly one of the reasons I read dungeon meshi in the first place. I mean, "the most cat to ever girl" is an extremely appealing hook to anyone who loves cats and girls (me, I love cats and girls).
However, while I have always liked Izutsumi, I finished the story kind of feeling like I didn't really get her. I felt like I had a decent grasp on her character an character arc (she's a traumatized teen given space to feel safe and open up, and because of that she realizes that she can't grow without letting go of the coping mechanisms she once needed). But I didn't feel like I really understood her role in the story as a whole.
She follows the group of her own accord, after a coincidental meeting and a misunderstanding of what they can do for her. She's never super invested in saving Falin, at least not compared to the rest of the group. Though they do help her escape Maizuru's shackles, and are clearly good for her in general, she doesn't really have a healing Moment with the group the way that Senshi does with the hippogriff soup.
And yet, she gets an entire chapter, the third-to-last chapter, dedicated to exploring her growth and future. She's the one who frames much of the falling action, who lets us check in with everyone. She's the one who helps talk Laios into accepting his role as king. She may join the story part way through, but she is there for most of it. So Izutsumi! What's your deal!?
Well, I think I've come up with an answer, at least for myself, that I really like. Two of them, even! Though they both really work together to form the overall point - Izutsumi is the character that most helps the story face towards the future. Here's why I think that.
So the first of these "ah-ha" moments was when I realized that Izutsumi really is the best supporting evidence for Laios' point about the good things that wouldn't have happened if Falin hadn't died.
Tumblr media
If Falin hadn't been eaten by the dragon, Izutsumi probably would still be a slave. It was because of Shuro and Laios' parties both being in the dungeon to rescue Falin, as well as Marcille's use of ancient magic in the resurrection, that she got the chance to escape. None of that would have been the case if Falin hadn't died. Shuro wouldn't have separated from the group and joined up with his retainers, Marcille wouldn't have revealed her knowledge of ancient magic, and Izutsumi never would have even met any of them. They are only part of her life because of Falin's death.
Though this isn't explicitly pointed out by Laios or Izutsumi in the scene, I do think you can very much feel the presence of it. For one, when Marcille reflects on the journey and how much it made her realize she didn't want to lose everyone, her relationship with Izutsumi is prominent:
Tumblr media
It's the main original group at the top and center, but when you read it right to left, it’s Izutsumi and Marcille who might catch your eye first. And it's specifically Marcille and Izutsumi's relationship on display here, not just Izutsumi's presence in the group in general.
Also, after Laios' statement about how none of their adventure would have happened without Falin dying, it is Izutsumi who gets the final word:
Tumblr media
Izutsumi is also the one here who is the most forward-facing. Chilchuck is trying to correct Laios, Senshi is focused on the immediate future, and Izutsumi is talking about her new goal.
And I want to talk about that goal in general as well, because it’s also interesting how it comes up. In that moment, everyone is trying to remind Marcille of her less destructive desires - to eat food, to share it with them, and to meet Chilchuck's family. All of which are previously established, existing desires. When prompted by Chilchuck to join in, however, Izutsumi offers something new:
Tumblr media
That's interesting, isn't it? It's kind of funny, of course, to see her rambling on about a completely new thing, her own personal motive, in the middle of everyone working together to reach out to Marcille. Izutsumi doesn't even know who Yaad is! But at the same time, it’s kind of meaningful. Amidst the focus on desires that everyone already had, she adds a completely new one to the mix. It’s even the final bridge that lets Laios reach Marcille.
It is, in fact, even an idea that comes back later to help out another lord of the dungeon. The idea of finding new goals and feeling new desires... this is exactly how Kabru reaches out to Mithrun, after the Winged Lion is gone
Tumblr media
So yeah, Izutsumi's presence here, both in what she's actively choosing to say as well as what she represents of the consequences of Falin's death, supports the story's ideas of moving forward. Of accepting the past, and finding new reasons to live.
Which is all really good, and that alone works pretty well as an answer to what Izutsumi's role in the story is.
But oh, oh. There's more. Something I realized after having thought of all this, because I still couldn't let go of the feeling that there was still something I was missing.
And as I reviewed the things I loved about Izutsumi - her sometimes unhealthy ways of coping with trauma, her struggles with isolation, her skill with fighting, her selfishness contrasted with the ways she grows to care for and protect the group, her perpetually guarded nature, born from the seeming impossibility of ever fitting in or finding a safe place to just be herself - I realized something.
Izutsumi...
is a foil to Falin.
Where Falin copes with isolation and trauma by being eternally caring and struggling to say no to people, Izutsumi copes by constantly saying no to everything she can. Falin is often considered selfless, but does have selfish desires that she can’t easily express until a moment of crisis. Izutsumi is delightfully selfish, but chooses to stick by her friends when they need her. They are both transformed, against their will, into partly monstrous hybrids, and they both will have to live with that - there is no undoing what has been done to them.
Falin anchors the group in the past. Izutsumi pulls them towards the future. Neither would find freedom without the other - it is Falin's death that leads to Izutsumi joining the party, and likewise, it is Izutsumi who inspires the realization of how they can save Falin.
Tumblr media
And Falin is her future, as much as Izutsumi is Falin's. Both learn to be a little more like each other, even though they never meet. Falin gets a little more selfish. Izutsumi gets a little more willing to bend.
In this context, I feel like I have finally started to understand just how important Izutsumi is to the story. She is a proof that they cannot just go back, and she is a clawed, happy-to-scratch-anyone-who-pisses-her-off reminder, at that. In any conversation about what the group wishes would have happened with Falin, she cannot be ignored or brushed aside.
She is a reminder that, even in the midst of a tragedy so big it feels like a shadow you will never escape, you have yet to met all the people you will love. Hell, some of those people might even be catgirls. We should all be so lucky.

i have to get this out of the way, re: dungeon meshi discussions
major spoilers ahead, obviously.
you know for a series that focuses so much on platonic and familial relationships it’s weird that dungeon meshi has attracted so much useless ship wars though. the most important driving force in the story is two sibling relationships (laios’s search for falin, thistle’s search for delgal) and one of the central themes is how loving others way too much can lead to your downfall (thistle’s desperate attempt to keep his loved ones leads to his mental state deteriorating so much he starts torturing people he claims to protect, marcille’s fear of losing her friends leads to her being easily manipulated by the main antagonist)
even with regards to falin. thistle wants to bring the ‘brother’ he raised back at all costs, he saw a young human woman as nothing more than a dragon, his tool. marcille wants to bring falin back at all costs, she didn’t care about the repercussions of using monster meat instead of animal meat even though she was an expert at ancient magic and should know why it’s such a dangerous practice.
each and every single one of the major characters has some form of tragedy with their family one way or another: the toudens, marcille and her dad. chilchuck and his wife. senshi’s entire backstory. izutsumi’s hidden desire for a mother. namari’s father. shuro and his family. kabru and his mother(both tallman and elf). mithrun and his brother. thistle and the melinis.
even some of the minor characters: flamela and her dead twin sister. the twins and the floke couple. kuro being the closest mickbell has to a family. etc etc
as someone who has reread this manga several times by now, i wonder if people just… read it once as fast as they could and act like they’re some sort of authority on fan discussion. i’ve seen people brag about reading the entire thing in one sitting as if it’s something to be proud of. this manga isn’t meant to be read that fast, that’s how you get people claiming that laios doesn’t reaaally love falin as much as marcille does.
to these people, laios just gets in the way, as if it wasn’t his idea to go down the dungeon in the first place, it wasn’t him who said his pain doesn’t matter because falin suffered more than him, it wasn’t him who felt immense guilt for leaving falin behind, it wasn’t him who found her skull, it wasn’t him who killed her to save her from her chimera form. i feel like people forget about the ‘too’ part when marcille said “i miss falin too”
marcille knows how much falin and laios love each other. that’s why she asked him if she’s allowed to resurrect her and didn’t act on her own. that’s why when both times a shapeshifting monster copied marcille to trick laios, it was what she looked like at the time she was reviving falin.
as someone who DOES ship farcille, none of the romance is canon. this isn’t meant to be anti-farcille. one of the post-canon comics is about falin gently turning down shuro because she wants to travel the world, “you can’t tie a dragon down” after all. she wants to travel the world and find herself because she doesn’t know who she is outside of marcille and laios. even marcille, who was hoping she’d reject him, tears up because of how beautiful and tragic it was.
there are a lot of ship teases because what author doesn’t like a good ship tease. but to say that dungeon meshi is a romantic love more than it is a story about family(both real and found) is a great misinterpretation of the text.

Dungeon Meshi Final Chapter
This is it. This is what the series is about. The joy of sharing meals with those you love.
Tumblr media
The title image has several dishes that were made throughout the series. Here's what I identified:
Huge Scorpion and Walking Mushroom Hotpot (Chapter 1)
Man-Eating Plant Tart (Chapter 2)
Mandrake and Basilisk Omelet (Chapter 4)
Living Armor Soup (Chapter 7) and /or Hippogriff Soup (Chapter 49)
Grilled Living Armor (Chapter 7), Boiled Mimic (Chapter 13), and Steamed Nightmares (Chapter 42)
Coin Bug Crackers (Chapter 10)
Prayer to Ward Off Evil! Exorcism Sorbet (Chapter 11)
Golden Wheat Bread (Chapter 12)
Giant Parasite From a Giant Squid (Chapter 16)
Tentacle Gnocchi (Chapter 21)
Sauerkraut-Style Dryad Buds (Chapter 34)
Barometz Balut (Chapter 44)
Sausage and Pancakes from the Breakfast Senshi Made (Chapter 47)
Boiled Hippogriff Potstickers (Chapter 50)
Hamburg Steak with Changeling Sauce (Chapter 55)
Unnamed Egg Dish Kabru Served Mithrun (Chapter 62)
Golden Country Dragon Wing (Chapter 72)
Pie That Marcille Wanted (Chapter 85)
Izutsumi has a bowl with a mushroom in it. She hasn't eaten it yet, but she might be trying to eat things she doesn't like.
I'll bet it was Kabru's idea to invite people from all around. The Town Crier's words sound like the kind of propaganda Kabru would create.
Tumblr media
Flamela and her aide become very talkative when drunk. Those orcs may have learned ancient secrets that Kabru and Marcille have been trying to uncover their whole lives.
Tumblr media
The demon wanted to make a blissful meal that lasts for eternity. Laios put on a grand feast and everyone in attendance was sick of eating after just seven days. More proof that the demon's plan was doomed to fail.
Fleki has eaten so much that she's got a balloon belly.
Tumblr media
Twin braids is probably the most elaborate hairstyle Chilchuck can do. At least Marcille's braids have matching clips.
Could this be the curse?!?
Tumblr media
Izutsumi has to always be edgelord cool person.
Tumblr media
Huh. I would have thought Laios would have already told everyone about the lion's curse by now. But they all agree that there's no way the lion's curse has anything to do with Falin.
Not entirely sure why Marcille is afraid of hurting Laios by telling him the curse likely doesn't have to do with Falin. I guess he just already has enough to worry about. The last thing he needs is to worry about being able to resurrect Falin AND there's some other goal he is cosmically denied.
This series has a lot of themes surrounding eating as a form of social bonding and happiness. And this final chapter is explaining how it's not possible to enjoy a meal together forever because death is an inevitability.
Tumblr media
And in addition, another theme of this series is the connection to what we eat. We eat to live, but something has to die to do that, and we shouldn't take life for granted.
Tumblr media
But also, this is a comedy manga about a bunch of goofballs eating weird monsters. You're free to find deeper meaning to anything, but you don't need to ascribe meaning to everything.
Tumblr media
I wonder if Izutsumi and Lycion have a similar scenario in their souls. Their human souls pin down the beast souls in them so they are the dominant being.
Tumblr media
The moment her legs were restored.
Tumblr media
She had the chance to discard the dragon entirely, but she chose to bring it with her.
Tumblr media
The demon is a form and personality mana took to better understand humans and other living things. When it first came to the world, it responded to the millions of creatures wanting to eat. It understood that eating doesn't satisfy forever, and whatever gets eaten becomes part of the world.
The demon decided to join in on eating and being eaten because it wanted to know why everything participated in this. But it came to the wrong conclusion that eating was something done only for temporary pleasure. It thought the eternal happiness the ancients wished for was simply infinite food and eternally full bellies. And it couldn't understand why they wished for their destruction even though they had that.
The demon was okay with being eaten because it was infinite. No matter how much of it was consumed, it never lost anything. But Laios ate its desires and that core bit that defined the demon's self was lost. It's appetite became part of Laios and the demon has since realized that eating is more than just a pleasurable activity. It's also how we obtain the nutrients we need to stay alive and maintain our bodies. We don't just eat food and then poop it out. What we eat becomes part of us.
Tumblr media
Laios kept a brooch of the winged lion as part of his royal garments because he believes the winged lion genuinely wanted to make people happy. He wished for the lion to not be forgotten and keep watching over the world. And the lion has chosen to fulfill that wish.
Tumblr media
At its core, the demon may have actually desired to be part of the world. While its infinite self makes it impossible to truly exist within the finite world, it has found a role it is satisfied to have. It has stopped being a living creature and is now a force that living beings can use and helps their existence.
Falin's dress was fine until this moment. The threads look like blood vessels.
Tumblr media
Pattadol probably styled Marcille's hair here. Unlike Marcille, Pattadol had only one way she decorated her hair and it's pretty similar to this.
Tumblr media
Happy reunions all around. Falin's a little better at remembering people than Laios, but she only remembers Senshi as that guy who cooked them a meal.
Tumblr media
Since when?
Tumblr media
Pattadol is trying to look proper and not nosy at all, but her fairy was trying to listen in on everything as well.
Tumblr media
Shuro can't bear to look at Falin right now.
Tumblr media
The orcs like to gift vegetable crops. Maybe that adds to why they like Senshi so much.
Tumblr media
Of course, they might also be trying to cozy up to King Laios by giving his sister gifts.
Not the most exciting final meal the series could have had.
Tumblr media
She's got little dragon fangs too.
Tumblr media
And it makes one last joke at Laios's expense. Despite achieving everything most people could ever desire, it meant nothing to him because he couldn't be around monsters anymore.
Tumblr media
And one of the themes of this series is accepting that you can't have everything you want but you can still find joy in what you have. Laios may not be able to make a kingdom of monsters, but he can still make a kingdom where all races can live together, share meals, and eat what they like with the people they like.

If Izutsumi only has a 'bit' of human soul where's the rest of it? Dead and gone? She doesn't suffer for the lack of it, so it doesn't seem like people need their whole soul. Could someone even take the piece she's missing and stuff it into another monster??
Well, this is gonna be a lot of speculation and very little facts, so beware (will never forget you anon who said I posted my opinions without clarifying it was speculation)
My theory is that in dungeon meshi bodies and souls have some sort of relationship? After all Marcille used the dragon's flesh to resurrect Falin and that cause part of its soul to be mixed in with hers, and at the end to get rid of his soul so Falin could be brought back without being a chimera they ate it's flesh and ground up it's bones so plants would absorb it. So I think it's safe to say there's some relationship between body and soul, at least inside the dungeon where resurrection is possible.
If we take Izutsumi's timeline as a basis, she was a 6yo child when she was taken from her parent's and turned into a beastmen (you could argue that it was a 6yo monster but Izutsumi's ages like a tallman so I doubt only here it would be referring to the monster)
Tumblr media
So she was a small child fused with a big monster, so maybe that in itself is why there's way more monster?
Tumblr media
The other possibility is that only part of the child was fused with the monster, or perhaps they did take the soul out of her body to put it in the monster, maybe like how ghosts that don't have a body might posses someone that dies and is resurrected and their souls are fused??
Tumblr media
But here she only talks about the "personality" changing not their appearance, I really think beastmen and chimera fusions where parts of each show up in the final form makes more sense if their bodies (along with the soul) is fused too? But I'm just speculating.
Anyway, two possibilities
The (whole) child was fused with a much bigger monster and that's why it's the smaller part
The child killed and then only part of her (or her soul) was fused with the monster
Very fucked up either way, about your question if there could be two izutsumis made from the soul of the same child I doubt it, if we take resurrection as an example I don't think they can "divide" the human soul in two different beings? Same as how they couldn't separate part of the dragon soul away from Falin's without before consuming it's flesh? So maybe they burned the rest of the child's body to get rid of the rest of her soul in that second possibility
The AB comic about resurrection says you can't really bring back someone from pieces even if you try to resurrect all of them, so I'd ASSUME that's true for trying to use the same soul for different beings
Tumblr media
Anyway these are my thoughts, I love Izutsumi's backstory is so fucked up and tragic... what was done to her is horrible.

Hi lovely! This is my first request to ever make!
If you would not mind, could you write a fic about Chillchuck Tims (from dungeon meshi) and a female half foot reader? Like in episode 17 when Falin wreak havoc in her new form and Chill drags Mickbell under Senshis pan to hide. But instead of Mickbell its the reader and perhaps something about trying to comfort and protect eachother in all those minutes that they cant see what is going on with the fight outside the dome? And because they have feelings for eachother and the reader knows about his stance towards no relationships in the group, so its a little akward to be stuck that close, but Chillchuck is also a little frantic because he thought he was gonna loose the reader in front of his eyes, if they got under the pan a few seconds too late
Thank you so much if it is possible ❤️
Hello lovely anon! I'm so sorry your request took so long for me to write, I had started it almost as soon as I saw it but then my inspiration just slipped away and just now was I able to finally finish writing it. I hope this is to your liking! Please forgive me for taking so long dear
Tumblr media
"Safe in your arms"
[Chilchuck Tims x female!half-foot!reader]
Warnings: none - fluff - reader has female pronouns - a few swear words
Tumblr media
That couldn't have been her, right? That couldn't be Falin, she'd never hurt a soul. What had happened? What had gone so wrong? She was a normal tall-man when Marcille managed to build her up again from her skeleton and some of the dragon blood... Wait. Dragon blood. Was Falin half dragon now?
(y/n) was too caught up looking up towards the beast that appeared to be Falin right now when she felt hands tug at her arms.— come on don't just stand there, we gotta hide!— Chilchuck's voice broke her from her trance, making her look around as everyone got ready for a fight and he dragged her far away from the scene. She looked at him, a panicked expression plastered on his face. It was understandable, if she had a mirror in front of her right now, she'd probably have the same look on her face.
Somehow, in the panic of the moment, Chilchuck had managed to lift up the pan that Senshi used to cook their meals in everytime and placed it over them like a dome as he layed back, hitting the debris of what was once part of the wall. Tugging (y/n) closer, Chilchuck wraps an arm around her waist and with the other, buries her head on the crook of his neck. They're both panting, not so much from the action of running to hide, but more so from the panic. They couldn't see what was going on outside, only being able to hear a few screams or grunts as Kabru's, Shuro's and Laios's party fought against what once was Falin.
(y/n) felt her body tremble and she held onto Chilchuck's shirt. His grip around her was tight, and it seemed like it would stay that way until he knew they were safe and could step outside from under the cooking pan.— Chilchuck...?— she was surprised when she heard her own voice shake as she spoke, and so was he.
The hand that he'd placed on her head began to run his fingers through her hair, trying to soothe her.— It's okay, you don't have to be scared, we'll be safe here...— or so he hoped. He sounded determined, confident and okay, but deep inside, his heart was beating a mile an hour, and his head was filled with a million possible outcomes for the situation they were suddenly in.— Are you hurt? You should've reacted sooner! What if the chimera had stepped on you?! What if everyone accidentally kicked you around because you were in the way?! You could've gotten seriously hurt!— his tone was hushed, scared and anxious as it trembled with worry.
She lifted her head from his shoulder to try to look at him. The only light that came from outside where everyone was fighting, sneaked very subtly under the dome that shielded them, not really managing to illuminate too much. But it was probably for the best, because she knew that if he were able to see her face, she'd probably have at least a faint blush on her cheeks, and she didn't want that to happen. Only now she realized how... intimately Chilchuck held her against his own body. He was skinny, very skinny, and her arms instinctively moved to wrap around his torso, nuzzling closer towards him. Was it for comfort? Or was it because she wanted to bask in what would probably be the only chance she would have to be this close to the half-foot? He had always been so strict with all those "inner party relationship" rules of his, it wouldn't surprise her if after the situation outside died down, he'd just huff and pretend like he hadn't been worried about her in the slightest.
The noises outside grew louder and the earth shook as Falin climbed her way up a building and took flight to run away after getting hurt by almost everyone. Under the dome and in their own world, the two half-foot's hugged each other closely, not having a clue about what the hell was happening outside.— Shit, it's okay, it's okay...— Chilchuck whispered in her ear, not only to her but to himself as well.— I've got you, just stay with me (y/n), I'm not letting you get hurt— his reassurances made her heart pump faster than it already was, her feelings toward him only growing stronger. Was there a chance he felt the same? Or did his words sound awfully sweet and romantic because of their panic?
Chilchuck's mind was in turmoil. He was holding the woman he cared for deeply in his arms, and even if he felt afraid, he wanted nothing more than to protect her, to reassure her that everything would be okay and end soon enough even if he had no idea if that was true at all. Her arms were wrapped around his torso and her hands balled into fists as she held onto his clothes, her head nestled on the crook of his neck, their bodies huddled close together. The racket outside subsided, and after waiting for a minute or two just to be safe, Chilchuck finally moved the pan away from over them and he looked around to the disaster that had occurred while they hid.
(y/n) slowly looked around as well, and they soon stood up, dusting their clothes off from some of the debris they'd been laying on.— What... happened? God are they dead?— she mumbled to herself.
Chilchuck stepped closer again, and now held her face with both of his hands. He gently brushed away some dirt from her face and with a worried expression, began fussing over her.— You gave me a heart attack back there! Look at me, I can't believe what would've happened if I hadn't dragged you away! You–...— his brown eyes filled with tears and he looked away, trying not to cry— Dammit, do you understand how... awful it would've made me feel if I hadn't reached you in time?!— he wasn't yelling, he wasn't angry, he was scared, maybe frustrated as well, the shock of the moment still wearing off slowly.— Even if you get revived by Marcille or anyone else, I can't bear the thought of you getting hurt... much less seeing it happen right in front of my eyes and being uncapable of doing something about it...— Chilchuck pulled her into a tight hug, wrapping his arms around her waist, now he was the one burying his head on the crook of her neck.
—I'm sorry, I was just frozen in place, I...— (y/n) could feel him shake as he held her, and she wrapped her arms around him as well, trying to provide some type of comfort for him too.— I'm glad you were there to save me, Chilchuck... you were so strong back there...— she whispered, and the male half-foot chuckled, it was almost funny how she made him want to break his own rules about love.
—Never, ever, scare me like that again— he pulled away slightly, looking into her eyes with tender frustration.
(y/n) smiled gently, running a hand through his now messed up hair— I promise you, my hero— she whispered back, and the tension seemed to finally evaporate from his whole body. They held each other closely for a while longer, relishing on each other's presence and feeling happy to be alive and okay after such a tormenting experience. The rest of the party could wait, he needed to make sure you would stay with him and be safe.

I wonder how Falin feels about the mythologising that's sure to happen about the feast that saved her. That feast as well as Laois defeating Thistle and the demon are basically the founding myth of their new country. And a feast lasting seven days and seven nights! Is the most classic epic story ever. They obviously have to have a yearly festival lasting the same amount of time.... gosh, I bet they even have dragon-themed or even falin-themed snacks. Which brings up, again, how she'd feel about this! Would she attend? Everyone who was there especially has to feel a sense of connection to her, which isn't entirely off base, but it would be hard to completely reciprocate. And I would think somewhat suffocating. I really am glad she decided to travel.
These stories are going to be essential to their newly forming sense of national identity, the imagined community of "Melini". I'm sure Kabru would be playing a big part in refining and developing it to get across the key parts. For a distinct purpose, too. You'd want to pare it down to get across that Laois is mysterious and powerful and emphasise his deeds, in order to impress other political actors who might otherwise interfere with Melini while it's still vulnerable.
Tumblr media
You'd also probably want to get the values they're hoping Melini will embody across - the importance of eating, a sense of togetherness, and a place for the strange and outcast and unwelcome elsewhere to find a home.
Tumblr media
Kabru in modern au could totally be in advertising tbh. Sorry. I can just totally imagine him gushing about brand identity and narrative... He'd be really good at it too. But like, for a charity or something. Or a politician.... Sorry. Sorry. I love him really.
Anyway I can totally imagine how the myth we see in the final chapter came to be! It's absolutely in their best interests to encourage it as much as possible, as we see when Laios bluffs the canaries for custody of Marcille on the basis that they don't know exactly how impressive what he did was or what it implies about his other abilities.
But that's gotta be kinda ambivalent for those who are implicated in that myth. Well, I'm sure Laois likes it, but he's agentive in it in a way Falin isn't. I don't know that I'd think she'd dislike it, it just seems... complicated.

Dungeon Meshi Quick Reacts: CH37
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ma'am, that down there is a crocodile. That's just a croc.
Tumblr media
It's like watching someone poke a wasp's nest for fun.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You know, when in contrast with Kabru, Laios' utter inability to correctly judge people and their reactions is ten times funnier.
Tumblr media
Kabru is really here tilting his head to the side like a dog trying to figure out a puzzle, but what he's actually attempting to comprehend is whether Laios is playing 4d chess or whether he's really that stupid.
And boy. The answer may not surprise you at all.
Tumblr media
Gotta love how ride or die Chillchuck is. He complains the most, but as soon as he's on the fire he's like 'well, I guess I'm sticking with these idiots until the very end'. Marcille does one (1) illegal magic and he's already planning alibis in this head. Gotta love him.
Tumblr media
Really not helping with the suspicious allegations, guys.
Tumblr media
Yeah, the cleaners (not you) erased the magic circle (finally) after a long time (almost 24 hours). Thanks in no part to your efforts to extricate yourself from these allegations.
Marcille, it's like you don't WANT to be an evil end-game villain! Come on, I'm rooting for you!
Tumblr media
Oh great, now you gotta revive another one.
Tumblr media
.......w...wait a minute.
Tumblr media
uh ohhh she's not so 'eepy anymore.
Tumblr media
Hm. Reasonable. Reasonable responses. I'm--SENSHSI IS THAT MORE ONIGIRI
Tumblr media
......can't argue with that. Can't argue at all.That's. One hell of a form .
Guess the dragon can fly now.
Tumblr media
Laios, let her have her sparkledog dragon fursona, jeez. Even Senshi knows better than to be judgemental of someone's first furry oc.
Tumblr media
(⊙_⊙;) whoop.
Tumblr media
ಥ_ಥ She's so cute. I'm so conflicted.
Tumblr media
Marcille, girlie, I hate to break it to you, but I think the issue is beyond a bit of confusion. She just crushed a woman like a watermelon against the ground. She's having a bit of murderous fun. It's fine to be into that, we're all gay here, but have some sense, girl. You need a safeword for that.
Tumblr media
Yeah, no, Chillchuck has the right idea here.
Tumblr media
To that point. Did anyone try to talk to her before attacking? Who struck first? In this instance, we don't know. COULD she be talked down at all?
Tumblr media
............why is this giving me pre-trainer world pokemon vibes. Why.
Tumblr media
I'm sure you would...
Tumblr media
Oof. Right in the brother instinct.

Winter 2024 Anime Overview: Dungeon Meshi (Delicious in Dungeon)
Tumblr media
Premise: Laios is the leader of an adventuring party, and his sister, Falin, got eaten by a dragon while sacrificing herself to save the team. Fortunately, in the dungeon they were exploring, people can be resurrected with magic. Unfortunately, if the dragon fully digests Falin, they probably can’t resurrect her. They have no time to resupply and must traverse many levels of the dungeon filled with monsters to find the dragon. Laios declares that since they can’t get food, they’ll eat the monsters in the dungeon instead-- and as a huge monster fanatic. he's unsettlingly excited about this. He’s accompanied by elf mage Marcille and hafling rogue Chilchuck in his quest, who are much more reluctant about monster-eating. They run into a dwarf, Senshi, who is an expert at cooking monsters, and the delicious race against time to save Falin begins!
...Oh what the hell, I'll say it. FINALLY, some good fucking food.
Memes aside, I love this story so much that writing a review of Delicious in Dungeon/Dungeon Meshi is daunting, because I really want to get across how great it is. But are there enough words in the English language to convey this? We can only try.
Tumblr media
Dungeon Meshi combines cooking and adventure animanga expertly, humorously treating eating monsters with the complexity of actual recipes (and indeed, the recipes for the monsters are based off real life recipes). You can experience the warmth and contentment of sharing a meal and enjoy the way the story goes in depth about the biology of the monsters and ecology of classic RPG style dungeon. But at the same time these characters are on a classic fantasy quest and there’s lot’s of excitement as they work together overcome monsters, obstacles and their own weaknesses to save Falin.
The first thing that stands out about Dungeon Meshi is that it’s immediately entertaining and funny. A lot of humor is mined out of Marcille’s complete disgust at eating monsters (and Chilchuck’s more measured reluctance) contrasted with Laios and Senshi’s bizarre enthusiasm for it. The face game of the series is on point, especially Marcille’s.
Tumblr media
The characters play off each other very well, have a hilarious dynamic and tons of quirks. They're immediately lovable. They're eccentric weirdos who push each other's buttons, misfits who just happen to fit together, and that's always the best.
I've seen some first time anime viewers complained about that how the early episodes are supposed to be race to save Falin, but there isn't much urgency as the characters have adventures and meals on the way. I can see that as a criticism (though it didn’t stick out to me much in the manga) but this is because we’re mostly seeing them in between the times they’re traveling, when they need downtime and mealtime. The fact that people should never neglect eating and rest if they want to succeed is a pretty important message of the show. You’ve got to let the series cook (forgive the pun). As it goes on, the urgency and tension increases ramps way up. the plot truly takes form and we see a lot of the world building from early parts pay off.
Tumblr media
Phenomenal, intricate worldbuilding is the next big thing that stands out about Dunmeshi. Any viewers paying attention will notice it pretty quickly. Ryoko Kui doesn’t dump her complex world or her character’s detailed backstories on the viewer all at once, instead she lets it unfold bit by bit, so the viewer/reader can watch the world expand as the journey goes on, as if we are truly living this world and exploring it along with the characters.
Everything is carefully thought out, from the structure of the societies, the cultural nuances and physiology of the different magical races, the conflicts between said races and the ways they integrate, the ecosystem and the different monsters and how they function…I could go on forever. And best of all, Dunmeshi's worldbuilding is never to the detriment of it’s incredibly rich story and characters, all of which are also developed wonderfully.
Tumblr media
After all, Dugeon Meshi isn’t simply a story about making food and eating monsters—it’s about the ways we consume and ARE consumed, it’s about the endless cycle of life and death and the pain of struggling against that cycle. It’s about the endless hunger that drives us all and the ways we try to fill ourselves up. It’s about the ways we can find both solace and terror in the monstrous, about our struggle to accept not just monsters, but anyone who's different from us. It’s not just about natural ecosystems, but social and societal ecosystems and the ways they both hurt and help us. It’s about all the things that make good meal, one that can draw people together and help us find essential humanity that connects us.
These strong themes are all expressed through the world and the journeys of the characters. And god, do I love these characters.
Even from the start, the characters overturn RPG/fantasy archetypes. (We have an elf who’s not that into nature and dwarf who LOVES nature and doesn’t like blacksmithing)… but the most special thing about these characters is how they deepen, becoming more and more complex and fascinating as the series unfolds. None of them are quite who you think they are while also being exactly how they appear.
Tumblr media
Marcille is one of my favorite characters in anything ever. She’s just an absolute disaster, while also being terrifyingly powerful. She’s a magic honors student who buried herself in theory but doesn’t have a lot of experience with the real world and gets upset it doesn’t work like school (I feel that). Her pride and generally high strung nature can lead to blunders that make her very funny to watch. She’s a total nerd in a way that’s so relatable, she has intelligence in spades, but not a lot of wisdom.
Tumblr media
But on the other hand, she’s an aching wounded soul who’s struggling under the surface, dealing with grief and loss constantly. She's obsessed with control in a world that uncontrollable. She’s incredibly driven and unnervingly dedicated to her goals. She’s also scarily devoted to the people she loves and will cross any moral line, break any taboo, and cover herself in blood and sin to save them. She refuses to let silly things like “laws” and “rules” stifle her research or get in her way .And while she's a neat freak who's grossed out by monsters, she's the first person to dive into the blood and guts and horror when shit gets real.
The contrast between her being a sweet, silly, dorky lovable nerd who flails around and being a powerful badass who has complex motivations, an intricate arc, and sometimes questionable morals is so great. Get you a girl who can do both. She's basically everything I love in a character.
Tumblr media
Marcille’s love for Falin and infinite devotion is also key to the story, and it’s so refreshing to see a well-written relationship between women be so central to a fantasy anime like this. And yes, by love for Falin, I mean in a gay way. It’s not technically canon (Dunmeshi is not into confirming romantic relationships for any of it’s characters really) but it’s hard to interpret their relationship as anything else, and honestly it’s one of the best wlw ships I’ve seen in a while. It’s got everything, the softness, the sweet and sensual intimacy, the angst, the tragedy, the raw unbearable yearning, tearing the world apart and defying even the laws of nature for her, crawling through hell and soaking your hands in blood and not letting anything get in your way...yeah, it’s good.
Tumblr media
While Marcille is my #1, all the characters in this story are fantastic and I love them all. They all have incredible depth and similarly complex backstories and arcs, and are all fun to watch. For instance, Laios may look like generic human fighter but he’s just the weirdest dude, a wonderfully unhinged man who absolutely has a monstersona. But then we also discover he's someone who struggles socially in a way that many neurodivergent people can relate to, who had a troubled childhood, who grapples with survivor’s guilt, and who, like Marcille, would do anything for his sister and the people he cares about. Chilchuck and Senshi and Falin and all the others the same, really interesting characters who deepen and grow. Everyone's relationships also develop wonderfully.
Tumblr media
And on top of all that, it's a show with really well-realized and well-written female characters…who even have diverse body types! We have stocky dwarf ladies with muscles! Huge orc and oni women! They’re allowed to be messy and complicated, badass and vulnerable, and that’s definitely a part of my affection for the series. (and famously, most of the fanservice of the series is focused on Senshi’s endless pant shots (loincloth, if we’re being specific)) and while there are moments with the female characters that make me fan myself, it’s not the obnoxious anime unsexy bullshit way that treats women like objects.
Tumblr media
And specifically for the anime, Trigger is doing great work with it. There’s so much cool and vivid animation. There are some small moments from the manga that I really miss and wish they had kept, but it’s been a largely faithful adaptation that understands what makes the story great, and I can’t ask for much more. The English simuldub is also genuinely good with all of the VA’s turning in great performances (and Prozd plays Senshi!)
Tumblr media
Dungeon Meshi is honestly one to the best stories in recent years, and it’s easy to let it take over your brain. So come along with me and enjoy the funny jokes, the splendid storytelling, the endearing and endlessly fascinating characters and the delectable world. You don’t want to miss out on this delicious meal.

Marcille cleans you up after youve helped Falin
(2nd pov Reader x Dragon dick Falin and Marcille thweesome :3c overstim)
Falin had been struck with an unprecedented erection- you had pressed your chest against her arm to point to a bird-shaped patch of moss and the beat of your heart against her skin sent the blood straight to her cock. She was embarrassingly hard, and after a few more paces you took notice. You two were on a brief walk for firewood and other essentials, Marcille would usually be the one to assist Falin but the elf was now a 20 minute walk away. Falin was looking at you in a lustful haze, eyes drawn to the intimate parts of your body with unrestrained interest. You offered assistance, knowing what it entailed.
45 minutes later you were exactly as destroyed as you anticipated being- the thick slaps of Falins hips was the loudest noise in the area- with the wet squelch of her cock against your hole being a close second. Her hands were firm but gentle as they held your waist, she nuzzled her nose into the back of your neck, and her pace became erratic. Her body stilted against you, letting out a few more hard thrusts into you as a gush of warm cum filled you up. You could only claw at the mossy ground and groan with relief. Both of you panting, Falin slid out and gently eased your lower body to the ground. The amount of cum leaving your hole is absurd, it feels hot and is already forming a thick sticky coat on your thighs, ass, and public mound. Falin rolls you onto your side and peppers you with gentle kisses. She guides your waterskin to your lips and you take a few deep gulps until she pulls it away. Her touch is tender and warm, the rough skin on her hands rising goosebumps along your skin.
"Ah-ha. I thought this is what happened." Marcille spoke, jarring you out of your post-dragon dick stupor.
You sat up and began to explain-only to be pushed back down. Falin adjusted so you were in her lap, smiling down at you serenely.
"Hey..." Marcilles face pops in front of your own, she is on top of you now- sandwiching you between the two. "Dont push any out until I say you can." Her face carries a heavy blush and her eyelids are lowered in desire. Her hands have found your sticky thighs and holds them apart. Her touch is fleeting but poised, using the tips of her nails to press into your skin. Meanwhile Falins hands come to fondle your nipples, rubbing them into sensitive stiffened red peaks.
Falin kisses the side of your neck while Marcille lowers herself between your legs. When Marcille begins to lick up the cum around your hole you flinch. The overstimulation is painful but erotic and addicting, your hips squirm with discomfort which creates tiny pricks of pain as Marcilles nails leave indents.
"We have been watching you for a while..." Falin speaks softly in your ear, "youre even cuter like this than usual." You whimper and just barely manage to gasp out-
"Please, its too much- I need to recover." But your body betrays you as your hips buck into Marcilles mouth and your chest quivers in Falins hands.
"We just want to take extra special care of you. You are so brave, helping me." You can feel Falins cock twitch against your back.
"Cum." Marcille commands harshly and as your eyes meet you see the desperation in her face. She presses her entire mouth against you, teeth scraping your already raw skin. Falin pinches your nipples so hard the tips go white. You cum hard, already fucked raw by Falin and now mercilessly squeezed and licked you have no choice. Marcille moans and swallows the cum with loud gulps, making you shudder. She licks at your sex despite her heaving breaths, keeping you twitching and crying. Despite cumming from overstimulation, they continue to play with your body. It isnt until you are unable to see, just flashing white taking over your vision, that they relent. Your still-jolting body is held between them with hands running through your hair and praises being murmured in your ears.
Their affection soothes your nerves as you are promised more comfortable and prepared 'next time'

Delicious in Dungeon vol 6 by Ryoko Kui
10/5
Tumblr media
This post is for fan entertainment, I’m not being paid.
Dungeon Meshi Thursday!
Ok part 2 of the Red Dragon Arc, we need answers of what happen with Falin. I do have a lot to say about certain characters so this might be long.
I may rehash a rant that I had in Vol 5, just because it shows up a lot in here. I will get into it when it’s in full swing. But I also have some thoughts on what Laios did as well. I would like to apologize if I tend to go on a tangent about Shuro. This volume has a lot of drama.
Ok, Vol 6 it picks up where Laios’s group meets up with both Shuro’s group and Kabru group, after some friendly-ish banter between everyone, and getting a meal ready to eat.
I have issues with Maizuru, yes, I can see her as the brains of their group, however I don’t like how she comes off as superior towards Senshi. (I don’t like people being mean to Senshi. Senshi is a precious bean.)
With that aside, I did like Chilchuck in this volume, thinking which of the two people Laios and Senshi he needs to stick by in order to do damage control if they irritated someone of in the new groups, he picks Senshi. I can see with his enthusiastic nature towards dungeon cooking.
However, Chilchuck picked the wrong person to keep an eye on, because while that was happening Laios had given a play by play to Shuro on what happened, how Falin was brought back from the dead. Shuro freaks out, and when looking at the method of using old magic when it has been forbidden a non-magic person would freak out about.
I can see both sides.
Laios wanted his sister back and Marcille could do a spell that could bring her back. Now, Marcille knew what she was doing, and even said that the spell was nothing nefarious.
While Shuro being a non-magic user hearing this and obeying the law of black magic is outlawed, would immediately end relationships with Laios and Marcille.
This is the start of Laios being moved down in my favorite character tier. Laios was almost expecting Shuro not to tell anyone top side. Granted, I understand that Laios told Shuro out of respect towards the man.
Ok more drama happens with Chimera Falin entering the fight and totally whoops everyone, but at one point she retreats.
With a good chunk of the group dead, they bring back the magic users, but refuse to allow Marcille’s help fearing that she would cast black magic again.
Ok new rant time
Shuro had traveled with Marcille I want to say a for a while. Shuro should know Marcille by now she would cast powerful magic only when she needs it too. Marcille also probably could also read the room that everyone is on edge about the ancient magic she casted to bring Falin back.
I also understand since Shuro is not a magic user he and the other non-magic users have more of a reason to be a bit wary.
I am sorry, Shuro is one of my least favorites at this point when he does get into a fist fight with Laios. Shuro complains that Laios was unbearable to be around that he never takes the hints that Shuro wanted to be alone.
This is another thing that bothers me, again traveling with Laios and the rest of the group before the first red dragon fight. Shuro should have picked up that Laios to put it bluntly is not the brightest blub in the box.
My friend made a nice comparison, that when Chilchuck is getting annoyed with Laios he will tell Laios without beating around the bush. Laios then understands and backs off. Shuro doesn’t voice his issues with Laios. Some people may not pick up the hints that person A wants to be left alone, you have to be direct about.
Ok, rant over.
After the fight and some planning Shuro and Kabru’s group are going topside to tell the lord that there is a more powerful monster in the dungeon.
While Laios’s group is going to defeat the mad mage of the dungeon.
Laios group runs into some shapeshifters, that have taken on the form of the group. As the whole group agrees that Laios is Laios, they locked up the fake Laios and some very obvious fakes of the 3. Everyone agrees that Laios should be the one that figures out who is real and who is fake.
Now we meet a new character, a beast person named Izutsumi, ok I will tell you know I really didn’t like her when I first met them. She is demanding and she threatens the group if they don’t help Izutsumi, she will murder/hurt them.
Izutsumi wants Marcille to take the beast part of her curse off and keeps threating if they don’t help, she will kill them.
Senshi being the generous soul that he is, makes her some risotto.
But Izutsumi is not really well versed in how to whole eating utensils, having issues holding a spoon but is still shoveling the food down quickly. I can overlook that no one is perfect, but Izutsumi doesn’t like mushrooms (Ok, I don’t care for mushrooms either.) But she lets them fall to the floor.
Senshi has the patience of a saint, but it looks like Senshi patience has run out (psyche! Senshi is a sweet bean) But then Izutsumi’s curse is activated and a Japanese looking ghost (I’m sorry the name of the ghost with a oni looking mask and craving knife escapes me at the moment.)
So, once again Senshi giving so wise wisdom and being a bad ass taking down the ghost/demon, why using utensils a certain way will maximize the usage.
However, Marcille breaks the news to Izutsumi, her curse is not going to come off. Which crushes Izutsumi. (Or Marcille is unfamiliar with the process of the removal, she also goes into detail about the different types of ancient magic. While she specializes in one type she doesn’t know this type.)
The last chapter, I got newfound of respect for Marcille.
Marcille is facing a nightmare and Laios goes into her dream and tries to help. Through his adventure, Laios understands the fear that Marcille faces being part elf.  I will leave it at that.
Ok I know I had some rants throughout this volume, but that doesn’t mean that I didn’t like it. I have my favorite characters (if it’s not obvious) while throughout the journey I get new respect for others or others are moved down on my favorites list.

I just started dungeon meshi and thistle has has probably under 5 minutes of screen time but they r already one of the most interesting characters in the show. WHY DID NONE OF YOU TELL ME HOW COOL THEY ARE. Ik I have not seen enough of them to do a proper analysis or meta, but from what I've seen I'm extremely excited. The fact that (if I'm interpreting this correctly) they are doing villainous things in an attempt to bring back the king, who seems to have been like a father to them, because they seem to be stuck in the past in some way(?) Like reliving whatever happened that led to the fall of the kingdom through the paintings in an almost timeloop-like situation? Likely not an actual loop, but it seems like they may not be aware of how much time has passed? It seems to be implied that they are 1.) One of the old elves that could live for thousands of years, and 2.) One of the most powerful dark magic users maybe in history (though the book seems to be a monkey's paw in some way and seems to be their source of power and directly connected to the king's disappearance) i feel like it has been implied that they feel at least partially responsible for the kings disappearance (I can't remember his name for the life of me) I'm also interested in what about Falin's revival made Thistle read her as the dragon. I think it might've had to do with her body possibly being made of parts of the dragon when Marcille did the full metal alchemist ritual to revive her. I'm also curious of Thistle's perspective on Falin's revival, they seem to think the party just changed the red dragon's form and tried to steal it or something similar. Does this miscommunication contribute to how they view the party as hostile? Or do they know the party's intentions but just don't care? Anyways, I'm only on episode 17 but I'm stoked abt Thistle as an antagonist :)

Dungeon Meshi Chapter 96
The chapter where Laios gets his first taste of kingship.
Tumblr media
I think this would add even more to the legendary epic Kabru is trying to make. King Laios, devourer of demons, who commanded the fealty of man and monster, living and dead.
Tumblr media
They ALWAYS bring up the sorbet incident.
Namari made gratin!!
Tumblr media
All the Faligon dishes we've seen have lower or lopsided nutrition charts compared to what Senshi has made through their adventures. It's not an issue here though since these are all part of a giant meal.
This is an impressively put-together venue.
Tumblr media
It really feels like a festival because of how everything was improvised. My favorite detail is one of the tables has a missing leg and they used a log to hold it up.
What's she laughing about?
Tumblr media
He nailed it!!
Tumblr media
Laios is a hero king. Fancy clothes and a shiny crown aren't what would show why everyone chose him as a king. Those are for people who claim kingship through birthright or wealth.
Namari is all doki-doki blushy-crushy.
Tumblr media
She is mad about that parasite attack Laios launched on her giant bird familiar.
Tumblr media
The lion cursed Laios so that his greatest desire would never come true. I assume it has to do with his desire to be a monster or make a kingdom with monsters in it.
Part of me feels like this bit of Laios's monster form falling off in such a way that it makes an excellent cloak is a bit of the lion mocking Laios to remind him that he can only dress like a monster but never be one.
Another part of me feels like the lion left it behind as its own way to endorse Laios. As Laios explains, he kept the lion as part of his royal raiment because wants the lion to keep watching over and protecting them. Laios has the heart to try appreciating even what humanity doesn't. So even if it will not let Laios be a king of monsters, it may support letting him be a king of humans.
Tumblr media
I think Fleki was booing Laios. And Pattadol squeezed her fairy so hard that it passed out.
Tumblr media
This was a great opportunity for Kui to show off her skill at making distinct faces.
Tumblr media
There are several people who have only made small appearances throughout the series. Zon is standing next to one of his wives who appeared in MMT2, the gnome bar hostess is behind Kaka and Kiki, there's a woman behind Mikbell who was on the chapter 76 title image, and that scumbag gold digger is in the top-right corner.
Of additional note, there are some gnomes in the top-left corner, the corpse retrievers Kabru killed are in the crowd, Izutsumi's ears are hurting because of all the noise, there are three ghosts in the crowd and Maizuru seems to be the only one who noticed, and that one elf girl is jeering at Laios.
Laios didn't say much. He just told them he didn't want to let the food get cold and to eat their fill. He didn't ask to be king, everyone else decided and agreed to it. He just wanted to share a meal with everyone. And I guess everyone is cheering because they feel like they chose right to make him king. His first concern is making sure they enjoy themselves rather than putting on royal airs.
Tumblr media
What is that? Some sort of meat jelly pie?
Tumblr media
Kabru is doing everything he can to put off eating dragon meat. And Mikbell is not goign to let him get away with it.
Tumblr media
Falin would be bummed out that she didn't get to have any.
Tumblr media
I had so much fun talking about Marcille's various hairstyles through the series. It hits harder knowing that the lion took that away.
Tumblr media
That's such a petty thing for the lion to have done. Marcille enjoyed taking care of her hair and styling it in all sorts of ways. It probably tasted good because it was something she loved. But also, it just shows more how the demon's actions naturally lead the lords to eventually go mad and seek death and destruction. The demon would strip away the ability to find happiness in even small things.
Since Marcille forgot how to take care of her hair, maybe she can relearn how to and even relearn how to enjoy doing it. Much of the aftereffects of being a dungeon lord seems similar to an extreme form of long-term clinical depression. And sometimes, you have to relearn to love the things you loved before. Mithrun is learning to enjoy living again, I'm sure he and Marcille could both eventually recover everything they lost.
The ribbon ties are mismatched. The one on Marcille's right is the ribbon she normally used to tie loops or ponytails behind her head. The other was one of the bands she normally uses for her braids.
Tumblr media
I don't know if Laios was aware that Marcille was being arrested or if he was initially okay with it because Marcille agreed to it. But he definitely decided to oppose the elves because he saw how upset Marcille was about possibly having to cut her hair short.
That elf girl is all "Ew. It's him. What's he doing here?"
Tumblr media
Mithrun doesn't care that Laios is defying the elves. He just wants to eat his kebab.
Tumblr media
Thistle stirred awake when he heard people saying "Your Majesty." He lost everything else, but he still recognizes Delgal.
This is two-for-two where it turns out there was something left over after the demon ate someone. Maybe it leaves behind desires that are impossible for it to fulfill. Everything Thistle did was to help Delgal. Delgal was afraid of many things, especially after his father was assassinated during his wedding. One of Thistle's deepest desires which may have kept him going for 1,000 years was the desire to hear Delgal was no longer afraid.
Delgal is dead, and the lion cannot resurrect the dead. It could never satisfy that desire even if it wanted to, so it left that desire behind. But Yaad managed to pass Delgal's message to Thistle and let him know he can finally stop.
Tumblr media
One speculation I made is partially correct. The long-lived races fought over the land, but the short-lived races didn't force any peace; they were just given the land instead.
And another speculation I made way back in chapter 22 when the island was first shown was 100% correct.
Tumblr media
The kingdom began to rise shortly after Thistle understood he could stop. At the core of everything he did, he just wanted to keep Delgal safe. Now that he's relieved of that responsibility, the lost kingdom can return.

Dungeon Meshi’s future
Spoiler Alert for those who only watched the anime and/or haven’t read far ahead enough in the manga yet.
Here’s my idea of what their future would be.
Falin decided after returning to her human form more or less decided she wanted to become a mother due to the instinct to reproduce. Everyone all over the world decided to come to the Golden continent to propose marriage. Either for the prestige of marrying the sister of the king, having offspring with the potential for strong magic and dragon power or for both reasons. Falin would want to be with someone familiar and opted to choose Shuro since she has known him the longest.
Marcille would have her objections of course but would probably just keep them to herself. After all she did learn not to project her desires onto others. Since she can’t grow old with her and because of her fertility issues she wouldn’t be able to provide Falin with any children. Though Falin was able to get pregnant by Shuro right away because they didn’t follow all the procedures for marriage laws from both their countries as it turns out they weren’t legally married and the child was conceived out of wedlock. Shuro’s father would object and would probably not recognize the child as an heir especially if it turns out Falin was having a girl. Marcille in an act of kindness/foolishness would marry Falin as a way of “preserving her honor” and act as the baby’s “father” so to speak. Laois would grant permission as he’s the king so Marcille and Falin would be a happily married couple and proud parents of a half-Eastern half-dragon lady. Shuro would be saddened by this turn of events but decided to let it be since Falin and their child would be better off with Marcille and not with him and his restricting household. As the baby grew up into an adult she ended up falling in love with an elf. Marcille and Falin eventually became proud grandparents of a beautiful elf hybrid. Overtime more and more elf hybrids are born and the fertility issues with them was eventually solved. As it turns out Falin’s lifespan is compatible with Marcille’s thanks to the leftover dragon parts. So Marcille’s dream does come true in a way.
So that’s my vision of their future. Anyone else here have ideas they like to share?

I play along with the life signs anyway, but I hope to God you don't know this feeling. Yet, in reverse, you are all my symmetry. A parallel I would lay my life on.
Tumblr media
So if your wings won't find you, Heaven, I will bring it down like an ancient bygone. Call me when you have the time. I just need to leave this part of me behind.

Simple facts and backround:
[CW/TW: abuse, slavery, trauma, ptsd, violence]
Shadow Dragon warrior
is not good with words, prefers actions
former slave, property of the Taipans
in her late 20s
Lucanis romancer
the Taipans is an organised slave syndicate who hunts down elven clans to murder the older ones and kidnap the younglings to shape them into perfect slaves with only two purposes: to satisfy humans or to kill them
Lucielle was taken when she still was a baby and was raised by Marcil, the "father" of the syndicate
the Taipans marked their slaves with a scar in the shape of a snake (a taipan), the bigger the mark, the more important/expensive the goods (never did they mark their face)
Lucielle wears the mark over her whole upper body, up to her neck and her arm, she always tries to hide it, she tries to avoid her own reflection
does not know anything about the Dalish, everything she knows she was taught by the masters to be "authentic"
was always forced to have long hair, to wear the perfect makeup, a slight endearing smile, and never got any wounds in her perfect face, which would lower her price
sleep paralysis, nightmares, and panic attacks
had an elvish name, but it was taken from her, just like her siblings (she can't remember both because she was too young)
the Taipans gave all slaves common names, so I'd be easier for clients to make their pick
does hate how her name sounds due to all the people abusing her, so she later went by Rook
can be very short tempered when it comes to slavery, and acting against someone's will, like forcing someone to do something
a rook would sit near her window every dawn and it could fly into freedom at any given time, she would have loved to just fly away
was freed by accident by a client and a crow
that's why she disgusts/fears any form of magic, especially blood magic and necromancy
nothing ever felt like home to her, not even her place in Docktown while working with/for the Dragons
Overthinker
Tumblr media
loves to collect gemstones and associate them with people she knows
