i got a goose tattooed on the inside of my forearm today and it was a flash piece but it's my favorite tattoo already it means everything to me i could sob

#i love geese so much and so deeply i named my dog after them #goose is my black dragon dog and my loyal faithful companion and my entire world #i just love these birds #they are so misunderstood as aggressive and scary when really they just are sensitive to spatial pressure #and they need a wider diameter than humans are often willing to give #but they are so beautiful i love their long graceful necks and how i can recognize their sounds anywhere #and that no matter where i live i see their little v's in the sky #and of course wild geese by mary oliver is one of the first poems i fell in love with #my english teacher deborah read it aloud to us in high school and it made me want to go outside and to stay alive #and when my gf and i first started dating i knew i loved her for lots of reasons but one of them was that she also loved geese #she told me she had a shared folder with her family members titled “geese i've seen” that she would put her goose photos in #so her entire family could witness them with her #i remember when i was sick with anorexia a few weeks before i was hospitalized a v of canadian geese flew over me on my way into work #and these big fluffy snowflakes were falling down and i could hear them calling #and it made my eyes well up #and i hoped they would get somewhere warm enough for winter #whether or not people have respect for them is a wonderful metric for gauging somebody's character #at the grocery store i worked at when i was 18 the only coworker i grew close to had a similar affinity for geese #she had a necklace of one #a little silver glinting goose in flight :'')#personal

keeping up with awards season has truly turned me into such a vitriolic and bitter person i think the academy should explode and there should be no survivors

#been watching so many nominated movies recently #to try to understand why saltburn is losing #but its just making me love saltburn more and hate the award shows that dont recognize it #i think it’s label as a shock value movie really killed it when thats obviously not what it is #like its so fucking beautiful and thoughtfully filmed #frame composition was taken into account in every fucking shot #but no cinematography nom #and the score is so amazing with big orchestral pieces that swell in the perfect moments #i still wake up with felix amica in my head #but no score nom #and not even to mention all of the incredibly talented actors who put so much love and work into this movie #who absolutely deserve to be recognized but they arent.#because it’s a shock value film.#and all of oliver’s confusion and heartbreak is overshadowed by viral cummy bath water tiktoks #its just so unfair lol #i could go on but. whatever. fingers crossed for baftas i guess.

honestly gotta say as a mixed white-native who is not nearly as tanned as a lot of the rest of my family it is very embarrassing that so, so many picrews fail to even accommodate ME in their skin tone collection. why is there only two shades of very light and just slightly darker. why does that darker color look gray. why is there only three different realistic skin tone options but the thirteen of the rest are fantasy rainbow colors. why is there no actual dark brown. seriously why are all the darker shades gray

Calling the colonization of Palestine by the settler colonial state "Israel" a landback movement is so insulting, because some of the main things that landback is NOT is 1. Kicking everybody else off your land who isn't you , 2. Creating an ethnostate, 3. Killing people specifically for the previous two things, and Israel has done & is doing all those things

& I didn't want to derail that previous post, but Israel self Indigenizing itself to Palestine is step #8 in settler denial of Indigenous colonization

Hey does any queer person who has/had evangelical parents, and you like came out to them, and even if they weren't super accepting at first they eventually came around to it, have any tips on how to go about coming out while still maintaining that relationship?

I am NOT looking for ppl to tell me to just go no contact with my parents and cut them off completely. Trust me I have thought about it and I will if I absolutely have to, but I would prefer not to if at all possible. But there's nuance to this situation and I don't think my parents are Complete lost causes.

Also if you are Christian/Evangelical and you try to proselytize to me on this post I will immediately block you. I do not want to deal with people telling me my lifestyle is sinful. I grew up with that rhetoric and I am not looking to debate it with anyone but my parents right now.

I'm so bad at not spending all my money on cosplay

#and also bad at sewing so it's a great combo #I have yet to make a cosplay I actually like lol #perhaps this is the year #I'm planning to make mithrun luffy and leo for my next con so #we'll see if any of them end well #pretty confident about Luffy bc I love sewing vests they're the best garment #hopefully I'll meet some other dungeon meshi cosplayers #but I'm taking a lot of creative liberties so I don't think anyone will recognize me #(the color of mithrun's shirt and skirt is basically impossible to find/very expensive so I'm just going for olive)#(and idk if I can make anything even slightly resembling the shoes so might go for my black or brown leggings with my normal shoes)

Fun fact: empathy is a lie and you do not need it at all to be a good person or to help someone

#nothing really triggered this just thinking about it #I truly cannot stand the idea that without empathy you are bad #like I hate green olives and would vomit before eating one #and emotionally I think it’s completely wild anyone actually likes them #I don’t have empathy there. but I don’t need it to understand that people DO like them #and the rules to empathy are fucking stupid. first #you MUST have it. second #you must express it. third though #you must express it CORRECTLY otherwise it’s actually bad #and if you can’t empathize with a person it’s their fault #empathy hasn’t done shit for me because i understand that a person who is alive should be allowed to keep doing that #if only so they have the opportunity to try and do good #even if they cannot make up for the horrible things they’ve done in a million life times #a person should be allowed to try #(that doesn’t mean don’t through them in jail)#*throw #also people can be entirely selfish and do good. you can recognize that the only sustainable way to improve your life is by helping those #around you. like sometimes motives do matter #but that’s cause motives can affect outcome (if you do good to look good #not to help) and indicate future actions (if you murdered them in self defense #vs for fun)#in this way the emotional desire to punish someone is unhelpful as it does not better society in any way.#punishment should be to make up for a persons actions and prevent them from happening again.#alright I’m done moral ing or whatever
