A/N: here it is. Sorry for the long wait. Hope you like it! 💙
A Helping Hand (part 1), Echoes of the Bond (part 2) + Unraveling Truths (bonus)

Y/N didn't see anyone until dinner.
She spent the day alone, roaming the family library in the House of Wind, sifting through the books until she found one that piqued her interest. From that moment on, she'd been curled up in one of the cushioned armchairs that dotted the room. Occasionally, thoughts of her last conversation with Azriel interrupted her reading, but she did her best to block them out. She didn't want to think about his mate.
Only when her stomach grumbled did she rise from her comfortable position. Placing the book on the table next to her seat, she left the library and headed toward the dining room.
Indistinct chatter was coming from inside, and she quickened her steps, a smile already on her face as she pushed the door open.
Her eyes were immediately drawn to Azriel, standing in a corner with Cassian and Rhysand. But before she could even consider taking a step in their direction, Feyre appeared in front of her.
“Y/N!” Her friend linked their arms to lead her toward the table. “I was just about to come looking for you. Sit next to me.”
Y/N obliged, and everyone slowly took their seats around the table. Though she noticed Lucien's presence seemed to make everyone a bit wary, the atmosphere was lighter with Feyre back with them. Rhys, who was sitting on his mate's other side, looked particularly relaxed.
As food appeared on the empty plates and conversations started around the table, Feyre turned to face her.
“I'm sorry I didn't greet you properly this morning,” she said. “But my mind was… elsewhere.”
Y/N peered over at Rhysand, who was talking to Lucien and Cassian but seemed to be listening to their conversation.
She looked back at Feyre with a smile. “I know, Fey. Don't worry about it. I'm just happy I have my friend back.”
Feyre returned her smile, giving her hand a gentle squeeze. “I am too. I was worried about you, you know. How are you adjusting to this life?”
Taking a bite of her food, Y/N used the few seconds to weigh how much to tell Feyre. She wouldn't usually hesitate – not with her, never with her – but maybe a family dinner right after she'd come back to the Night Court wasn't the right moment for this sort of talk.
“I struggled at the beginning,” she said finally, avoiding details for the moment. “But Azriel helped a lot, and I'm doing much better now.”
As if mentioning him was enough to summon his attention, she felt his eyes settle on her from the other end of the table. She met his gaze with a smile, and the corner of his lips twitched upwards in response.
“Azriel?” Feyre's surprised tone brought Y/N's mind back to her friend, and the Shadowsinger refocused on his own conversation. Y/N rubbed a little spot on her chest.
“I'm glad he helped,” Feyre continued. “And that you're doing okay.”
Y/N nodded and took another bite of her food, but her thoughts were already drifting back to the spymaster. Now that they were in the same room again, she couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off, and she kept going back to that morning – Azriel’s words about his mate.
“Y/N, what’s wrong?”
Feyre always had a knack for knowing when something was on her mind. Even when Y/N thought she was concealing her thoughts, the youngest Archeron could pick up on them.
“I was just wondering… how does it feel to have a mate?” Y/N asked, her gaze drifting back to Azriel for a moment before returning to Feyre. “I mean, what kind of bond is it?”
Feyre’s expression softened, her eyes settling on Rhysand, warmth shining in them. As if sensing it, the High Lord turned towards her with a smile that spoke volumes about his feelings for her.
“It’s a bond between souls,” Feyre finally answered. “Like an invisible thread binding two people, a tug toward each other. If two mates accept the bond, then they belong together.”
A tug. Y/N had been feeling a tug toward something for a while now. What if it was toward someone instead?
“Honestly, I hope you'll get to experience it one day,” her friend went on. “It's a connection on a new, deeper level. It's always there, even when you're apart.”
“I hope so too,” she murmured, her hand once more massaging her chest.
There was a pause as they both took a sip of their drinks, the conversation still buzzing around the table. Y/N's thoughts wandered back to Azriel, his quiet presence and the comfort he had provided. There was something more there, something she couldn't quite put her finger on.
“Have you ever met Azriel's mate?” she said suddenly, breaking the silence between them.
Feyre's brow furrowed in confusion. “He doesn't have a mate.”
Y/N's fork paused halfway to her mouth. “He told me he did,” she said slowly. Something dangerously close to hope stirred in her chest.
Feyre's frown deepened, and she shook her head slightly. “I had no idea.” She cast a glance at the Shadowsinger. “He never mentioned having a mate. I always assumed he didn’t.”
Y/N's heart raced as she processed the new information. Why would Azriel lie about something like that? She glanced down the table at him, her mind racing with questions.
A wisp of shadow curled around his ear, and his eyes slid toward her. He almost imperceptibly raised an eyebrow, but this time she didn’t meet his gaze and looked down instead.
“I don’t understand,” she murmured, more to herself than to Feyre. “Why would he tell me that?”
Feyre reached out and placed a comforting hand on her arm. “Maybe there's more to it than just that,” she suggested gently. “He’s quite reserved. I’m sure you’ve noticed that too.”
Y/N nodded, her thoughts a whirlwind. She knew Feyre was right. She needed to confront Azriel, to understand why he had lied to her or why he’d told the truth to her only and not to the others.
The rest of the dinner passed in a blur, the Inner Circle and Lucien delving into a more serious discussion about war and High Lords, most of which Y/N didn’t really comprehend – even less so when her mind was preoccupied with thoughts of Azriel and Feyre's words about the mating bond.
As they finished their meal and began to disperse, Y/N wished everyone goodnight and quickly slipped out of the dining room. She needed to be alone, a moment of quiet to think things through before talking to Azriel.
Because things didn’t really make sense right now.
Either Azriel had lied, or he really did have a mate. But if that was true, why didn’t his friends know? And why would he spend so much time with her and away from his mate?
His mate – the one he’d found just recently, who was as kind and gentle as she was, who he would leave behind every time Y/N needed help.
That last part didn’t sound much like the Azriel she'd gotten to know over the last few weeks, though.
With a sigh, Y/N closed the door to her bedroom and started getting ready for the night.
Tomorrow, she’d find Azriel. But for now, all she wanted was to turn off her thoughts, if such a thing was even possible.
Sliding under the bedsheets, she tossed and turned for a while, trying to keep her mind blank and fall asleep instead. But every time she thought she was about to enter the realm of dreams, some kind of insect would fly so close to brush her face and she had to bat it away constantly.
After what was probably the fourth time in just as many minutes, she groaned and finally opened her eyes to find the culprit.
It wasn't a fly, like she’d thought.
In the dim moonlight, she could just make out one of Azriel’s shadows hovering right over her nose. She’d gotten so used to their subtle presence in her room that she’d forgotten about it. But that tendril was definitely seeking her attention now, and she watched as it surged forward and gently brushed against her cheek.
Something slid into place inside of her.
Azriel's shadows had been with her since she'd been given this room. They seemed to like her, and judging by Cassian’s reaction that morning, it wasn't common to be favored by the dark companions of the Shadowsinger.
And then there was that tug that Feyre had mentioned – a tug toward each other. She had felt it often during the last three weeks and it always seemed to grow stronger when Azriel was close.
It's always there, even when you're apart. She could feel it now too, like a thrumming presence next to her heart.
What had Azriel said about his mate? That Y/N reminded him of her, that they were a lot alike… and that he'd found her recently.
Just like she had met Azriel only recently.
She jolted upright as realization settled upon her.
But… could it be true? Could it really be that she was the mate Azriel had mentioned? The signs were there, yet he hadn't said anything about it. Not even that morning, when she had blatantly asked if he had one.
Every remnant of doubt and uncertainty faded away when she noticed the rising darkness in the room. From the tiny cracks on the floor and the little gaps under the furniture, shadows were now slithering out of their hiding spots to gather at the foot of her bed, seemingly writhing in what she thought was excitement. The lone tendril that had woken her caressed her cheek once more.
“Alright, alright,” she chuckled, waving it away. “I get it. He’s my mate.”
The solitary strand stilled its movements, and she took the chance to shoot it a warning look, though she couldn’t help the smile on her lips. “Now let me sleep, okay? I’ll talk to him tomorrow.”
She was now too tired to go looking for Azriel’s room. She didn’t even know if he was in his room anyway. Besides, this was not a conversation she wanted to have when her mind was a bit sleepy. Better to let the realization fully settle in and deal with it in the morning.
The shadows seemed to understand, because they halted their swirling, and even the stray tendril drew back, returning to the pool of darkness next to her bed.
Y/N lay back down and closed her eyes again. A small smile still graced her lips when she finally fell asleep.
She woke up only a few hours later, her breath gasping and Azriel’s name on her tongue.
A nightmare, nothing more. She tried to calm down, silently repeating it in her head. It was just a nightmare.
But she had to check on Azriel. Her stomach was clutched by an uneasiness that she couldn’t shake. Yet she didn’t move.
It was the middle of the night. Surely Azriel was sleeping by now, and she didn’t want to disturb him, not for something as silly as a nightmare. He’d done enough for her already.
She tried to go back to sleep, to ignore that invisible thread that was pulling at her chest and the thoughts that kept drifting back to Azriel. But every effort seemed useless.
She sat up, running a hand through her hair. The shadows seemed to stir on the floor as if knowing she was considering getting up.
She had no idea where Azriel’s room was. But after realizing they were mates and now the nightmare… she had to see him. It was like a physical need, nudging her to go.
As soon as she rose from her bed, a single wisp of shadow flew from the floor to her, curling around her wrist. She had a feeling she knew exactly which tendril it was.
The bond seemed to pulse in her chest as she headed for the door. But once she was outside, she didn’t know where to go. Nesta and Elain were in the same hallway, but what about Azriel? Maybe he wasn’t even on the same floor, for all she knew.
The bracelet of darkness tugged her toward the left end of the hallway, and she looked down with a frown. It did it again.
“You want me to go in that direction?” she whispered, taking a single, tentative step.
A third tug.
This was a potentially bad idea. She should have stayed in bed. Azriel was no doubt sleeping, and she would only bother him.
Yet her feet moved, and she didn’t fight the shadow as it guided her through the hallways.
~~~~~~
Azriel knew Y/N had left her room the moment she closed the door behind her thanks to his shadows. What he hadn't expected was that she was coming here, yet a few tendrils curled around his ear, whispering the same word over and over.
Mate. Mate. Mate.
A moment later, he heard her soft footsteps down the hallway. They stopped right outside his door.
He waited for her to knock, but when no sound came, he debated whether he should go open the door and let her know he was aware of her presence.
Just as he stood up, three light and quick taps on the wood resonated in the room.
Azriel swallowed. Maybe this could be his chance to tell her about the mating bond.
He walked up to the door, opening it to reveal Y/N, barefoot and clad only in her nightgown. She was fidgeting with her hands and he could bet he heard her hold her breath when she saw him.
“Did I wake you?”
Azriel glanced down at the Illyrian leathers he was still wearing. “No,” he answered with a small smile.
Only at that moment did he realize a shadow was wrapped around her wrist, just like that morning. Knowing it had been caught, the stray tendril flew back to hover around his wings with the others. His dark companions seemed to be as captivated by her as their master was.
Azriel took a better look at her. She was beautiful, even with her unbound hair a bit tousled on one side of her head. That detail, and the fact that she hadn’t bothered wearing slippers, told him she had slept – at least for a while. But judging by her fidgeting and her presence here, something was gnawing at her.
“Are you okay?” he asked quietly, moving to the side in a silent invite to step in. “Did you have a nightmare?”
She didn't hesitate to walk past him. “Yes.”
Her sweet scent filled his nostrils, clouding his mind so much that he barely heard her answer. She was looking at him now, her brows furrowed.
“I thought you didn't have them anymore,” he finally replied.
“Not usually, but… this one was different.” He didn't miss the tension in her voice, or how she was avoiding his gaze. “It was about you, Azriel.”
His eyes widened. If she was upset about something, if he'd maybe hurt her in her dreams… but she probably wouldn't be looking for him if that was the case, right?
“It was about that day in Hybern,” she went on. “But I wasn't being pushed into the Cauldron. It was…”
When her voice trailed off and she didn't continue, Azriel stepped closer to her and gently brushed her arm. For someone who'd lived for more than five hundred years, he wasn't sure how to act around her. He didn't know if he was allowed to touch her to comfort her, despite the help he'd already offered her multiple times. Things were different now.
“It's okay, Y/N,” he said gently. “You don't need to tell me.”
But she shook her head. “You were dead,” she murmured, her voice trembling. “In the dream, you… you were dead and I couldn't do anything.”
Before he even knew what he was doing, Azriel wrapped her in his arms. He stroked her hair, his shadows joining in and swirling through her locks.
“I'm alright. It was just a nightmare,” he whispered. He felt a sob tear through her body, and for a horrible moment he thought she'd shrink back into herself like weeks ago.
And so Azriel kept murmuring soothing words while he held her close, to prevent her from turning again into a shell of herself or having another panic attack.
Yet when Y/N pulled away just enough to look up at him, her eyes were dry. Azriel could get lost in their depths.
“I know what you are, Az,” she said, and time seemed to slow as his mind came up with all the different possibilities of what she meant.
But what she said after wasn't one of them.
“I know you're my mate.”
Time stopped completely. Azriel froze, his shadows with him, halting their swaying around her.
He seemed to watch in slow motion as she brought up a hand to cup his cheek. As her eyes softened and a smile appeared on her face.
Maybe this was all some kind of dream. Maybe he'd fallen asleep without realizing. But his shadows were whispering to him again.
Real. Real. This is real.
Azriel let himself enjoy it then. He closed his eyes and leaned into her touch. His hand came up to cradle hers, a small sigh leaving his lips as he relaxed.
“You are my mate.”
How she knew, Azriel had no idea. He knew for a fact his brothers and Amren – the only ones who had figured it out – wouldn't tell her before he could. And if Y/N had pieced it together herself, it still wouldn't matter.
The only thing that mattered was that she was here now, and she didn't seem upset or angry.
“I'm sorry I didn't tell you,” he finally replied. When he opened his eyes, she was smiling up at him.
The sight threatened to make him crumble. He wanted to pull her closer and kiss that soft smile.
Y/N just shrugged. “It's alright. I'm not sure I would have understood it if you'd told me sooner.” Her thumb brushed against his cheek before she stepped back, and Azriel reluctantly let go of her hand and mimicked her movement.
“But you could have told me this morning,” she added, her tone amused. “When I asked if you had a mate.”
Azriel ran his fingers through his hair as he offered her a small, nervous smile. “You caught me off guard. It doesn't happen often.”
“Oh?” she chuckled, the most beautiful sound he'd ever heard. He even forgot to say something else.
Instead, he reached for the bond he'd kept buried deep down and let it come back to the surface. He gave it a tentative, gentle tug and watched as Y/N tensed and her eyes widened, her hand going to that spot he'd seen her rub multiple times already.
A moment later, he felt her tug back. And knowing she wasn't running away from it, from him, he closed the distance between them once more. His hand tangled in her hair, tilting her head back and earning a small gasp in return. The need to kiss her was taking over his senses and he struggled to keep control.
Normally he'd go for it, the fact that Y/N didn't pull away and instead seemed to wait for his next move enough to tell him she wasn't going to reject him. And if she were any other girl, he'd do it. But with her, he needed to be sure. He didn't want to rush anything.
“Do you still think what you said earlier?” he asked in a hushed tone. “That my mate was lucky to have me?”
“I'm only more convinced of it now that I know it's me,” she murmured. Her smile lit up her whole face as she moved even closer. “I'm lucky to have you.”
For the first time in centuries, Azriel was feeling overwhelmed. Overwhelmed by her scent now permeating his room, by their bodies brushing against each other, by the mating bond finally out in the open and not hidden in the depths of his soul.
“No, I'm the lucky one to have you, Y/N.”
Their eyes met again and he was about to ask her if he could kiss her – Cauldron, he might even beg for it – when her gaze dropped to his lips. He waited one heartbeat, two, but when she still hadn't looked up by the third one, it was both the confirmation and permission Azriel needed.
With his hand still cradling the back of her head, he pulled her closer while he leaned down. They met halfway and Azriel’s first thought was that he would gladly stay like this forever.
Her lips were soft and warm, and they parted slightly, allowing his tongue to slip inside. He felt her hands on his chest and his wings rustled quietly behind him, an involuntary reaction to her touch.
His fingers tightened in her hair and when she moaned softly against his mouth, Azriel knew he was a goner.
But Y/N pulled back, the absence of her lips on his like a sudden emptiness in his heart.
Her cheeks had taken on a light shade of pink that made him smile. He was so lost drinking her in that he almost missed the words she whispered.
“Stay with me tonight.”
His smile widened. “You're in my room, Y/N.”
“Right.” She chuckled even as she blushed, the sight endearing. “Then let me stay with you for tonight.”
Azriel tucked her hair behind her ear. “You can stay with me every time you want. Every night, if that's what you wish.” He leaned down to press a tender kiss to her lips. “Wait in bed. I just need to get changed.”
She nodded and stepped back, his hand falling away from her cheek.
As he moved towards his drawer, the shuffle of the sheets brought a smile to his lips. He fought the urge to turn and see her lying in his bed. His mate, in his bed. Something he had almost stopped hoping for, after so many centuries.
Eager to join her, he quickly took off his Illyrian leathers to replace them with his sleeping pants.
He didn't need his shadows to whisper in his ear to know she was watching him. He paused just as he was reaching for the shirt and lifted his head instead.
“Like what you see?” he asked, a teasing not in his voice.
The only answer he got was a low mumble that he couldn't quite make out, which only made his smile widen. Cauldron, he really wanted to turn around and see her face. He was ready to bet she was blushing.
Deciding against wearing his shirt – definitely not because he was a smug bastard who wanted to see her reaction – he turned and walked towards the bed.
He was rewarded by Y/N quickly looking away, her cheeks flushing a deeper shade of red as she lay back down.
Azriel chuckled, a hint of satisfaction in his eyes. A part of him felt a twinge of guilt, maybe he should have donned the shirt to spare her the embarrassment. But he couldn't deny he enjoyed seeing her flustered.
With a swift movement, he joined her under the bedsheets. “Y/N,” he called gently. “You know you don't have to shy away, right?”
He ran a hand down her spine and felt her shiver through the thin fabric of her nightgown. “You're my mate,” he continued. “You can look as much as you want.”
She scooted over until her back was pressed against his chest. Azriel immediately wrapped her in his arms and relished in the way her body seemed to fold into his, like that's where she belonged.
“Those are dangerous words, Azriel,” she warned. He could hear amusement in her voice and he knew she was smiling.
“Why?”
She intertwined their fingers and, to his greatest shock, brought them up to her lips and pressed a gentle kiss on the back of his hand.
It had been decades since Azriel had learned to accept his hands and his scars, decades since he'd stopped hiding them with gloves or in his pockets. He'd done horrible and unspeakable things with those hands, but to protect his court – his family – he'd do them again. And yet to have Y/N, his mate, openly kissing them so tenderly…
He wasn't sure he was breathing.
His shadows curled around his ear, whispering something about an answer, and he realized Y/N had turned her head to look at him. She was frowning, the expression creating a small crease between her brows that he had never noticed before.
“You didn't hear what I said, did you?”
Azriel felt a heat creep up his cheeks. “Sorry,” he murmured.
She only smiled, turning around again. “I said that I might not stop looking then.”
His arms held her tighter, pulling her closer until there was no space left between their bodies. As he pressed a kiss to her shoulder, he whispered, “You're very beautiful too, Y/N. I've had a hard time not staring at you since the moment I met you.”
With their joined hands resting close to her chest, Azriel could feel her heartbeat increase. Grinning from ear to ear, he waited as she shifted a bit like she was debating whether to turn around in his arms or not. But she eventually settled against him again and murmured a thank you.
Shying away from compliments, then. He would remember that. And he would shower her with compliments until she too believed she was the most beautiful girl he'd ever laid eyes on.
He wanted to start now, to make her turn around and kiss her again till their lips were swollen. Instead, he draped his wing over them, creating a little cocoon of darkness and warmth where only the two of them existed.
“It’s quite late,” he murmured against her neck. “We should sleep.”
She hummed in agreement. “Goodnight, Azriel.”
“Goodnight.”
He closed his eyes, ready for the long hours it usually took him to fall asleep. It wasn't until he heard her voice again that he realized he was already falling into a peaceful slumber.
“Az?”
“Mh?”
Her voice was a whisper, barely audible even in the silence of the night. “This morning, when Cassian mentioned having the biggest wingspan and you snapped… is that a mate related thing, or just Illyrian?”
He had no idea how she'd come up with such a question at this hour. Smiling at her innocent curiosity, he tried not to let his mind wander into dangerous territory.
“I'll explain another time,” he mumbled. “Go to sleep, Y/N.”
She giggled, the sound like music to his ears. And with his mate in his arms – her scent filling his nose, her hair tickling his neck, her soft body pressed so perfectly against his – he knew he wanted to sleep like this every night.
After centuries of searching, Azriel had finally found the place he belonged.
I don’t see any Castlevania asks and that makes me sad as HELL
How would (Y/N) react to Lisa’s burning? How would Dracula’s war court react to her? And Hector and Isaac?
I'm gonna go down the platonic route and make reader Lisa and Dracula's daughter, biological or kidnapped/adopted.
Obviously, any normal human would not react well to anyone being burned at the stake- ALIVE. And maybe when the villagers caught Lisa, they caught you as well and thought you were a witch too. They burned your mother first and just when they had started to burn you, Dracula came and swooped you up and away, along with his now dead wife's remains and while you passed out due to inhaling all the smoke, sustaining some minor burn injuries and well- EXHAUSTION AND TRAUMA, your father returned to slay the entire village and later wreak havoc on all of humanity. Really, a justified reaction from a family man.
Anyways, he returns home with you in his arms and then nurses you back to health all while killing everyone outside. Now, he may still be soft to you but you are absolutely forbidden from leaving the castle. Like you cant even go outside even if Dracula accompanies you. No, he's lost his wife and if youre their bio kid who is more human than vampire unlike your older brother Alucard, then Dracula is way more protective of you. After all, he did see you almost die and really, you remind him far too much of his wife, of her humanity and her kind heart to help others that eventually got her killed.
Initially, right after Lisa's death, Dracula didn't even allow you to even leave your room, too paranoid about some unknown force killing you and him not being able to save you in time. Eventually though, with other vampires and monsters(under his control obv) in the castle, he let you out of your room, but still not out of the castle, and thats when you found out that he had thrown out Alucard and (sort of disowned him??) because your brother was not in favour of Dracula either killing the world or locking you up.
Now, like I said before, Dracula is still soft for you but with Lisa's death he's become a little... emotionally crippled. He has too much pain and hatred inside him, and he's doing his very best that you dont end up on the receiving end of these very negative and very dangerous emotions. However, he sometimes... loses control. When you keep on persisting about how all of this is wrong, about how he shouldnt kill ALL humans, how he shouldnt lock you up or break what remains of this family, he lets his anger out on you. Only a little. He'd yell at you, tell you that you're far too stupid an naive and stubborn to understand what he's doing or why, ask if you're going to side with those murderers that you so desperately want to save over your own family? Are you that blind? He'd drag you back to your room, lock you in there because he wont have you questioning him like he's the bad guy here.
But soon after that, he'd be found sitting in front of one of Lisa's portraits, probably one where she's cradling baby you and he'd start talking to her, trying to explain himself, how he did not mean to blow up at you but you just wouldn't listen to him. The one sided conversation would always end with Dracula feeling guilty and he returns to your room with a heavy heart that just sinks more when he sees you asleep, tear streaks now drying on your cheeks. Sitting on your bed, he'd pet your hair, mumble something about how he loves you and cant afford to risk losing you, smiling softly when you shuffle closer to him.
Since Dracula knows Hector is loyal and sincere to him, he will allow you to have him as your friend. After all, you would need some company in the castle and vampire dad on murder spree is not exactly someone who is ideal for friendship at the moment. So, he permits and even encourages Hector to socialise with you and comfort you. And Hector has a bleeding heart too, so you're in luck because he will happily listen to you express your emotions and provide you with free therapy (he makes dead, one missing limb/eye puppies alive for you🥺) He just wanna protect u too, and while he doesnt agree with you being locked up in the castle, its better than the alternative. Also, has and will fight Isaac 1000% if he talks shit about you because youre human.
As for the court, they know that you are now the only thing dear to Dracula, and while one wouldnt say that you have the vampire king wrapped around your finger, he comes pretty close to it. But its no use really because they cant exactly use you to make Dracula listen to them... or can they?
Considering that you're pretty against the whole "Vampire uprising-kill all humans" plan, they cant persuade you to enslave or kill humans. What they can do is gain Dracula's favour by being... kind to you? Okay take Carmilla for example (because she's the only one I can remember from the court. Her and the brash, red haired vamp?) Now she's smart, she's manipulative and she knows exactly how to use this opportunity. She starts to befriend you by first agreeing that she understands why you're against your father's actions but also tells you that you must understand his decisions from his side. "Your mother was a kind woman, a brilliant doctor and from what I've heard, your father loved her very much. And if you've ever been in love, then you would understand why he's doing all of this." And of course Dracula overhears this because come on, nothing happens in his castle without his knowledge. So yes, he shows slight favouritism towards Carmilla among the court and he may allow her to hang around you a bit (only after Carmilla convinced him that you needed a female friend in your life, and its always better to be in her company than any of those perverted men of his court) but even then, Dracula doesn't completely trust her around you and so he wont allow you two be in contact often.
Dracula would also be way more conscious of your feelings with time, because he will realise eventually that he was far too caught up in his own pain and plan for vengeance that he forgot to see how you were coping with the loss of your mother. If any of the vampires are heard saying something even remotely mean to you, if he even hears Isaac even breathing in disgust at the sight of you because you were part human, they will be swiftly dealt with (girl, he murders them all).
You're his baby, his sweet human kid, his little princess and he wont have anyone or anything taking you away from him. (LET HIM PULL YOU IN HIS LAP AND WRAP HIS CLOAK AROUND YOU AND DRIFT OFF IN HIS ARMS BECAUSE YOU'RE THE ONLY WARMTH LEFT FOR HIS COLD DEAD HEART OMGGGG)
you can start a family who will always show you love
part 3 :)
warnings: mentions of self harm. nothing graphic. discussions of anxiety. angst + fluff.
You slept better than you had in weeks, curled up against the steady presence of Alexia. When you woke up the next morning, rolling over to find an empty bed, you were torn between feeling hopeful, and feeling embarrassed. You let yourself wake up slowly, enjoying the sun peeking through the curtains. You heard quiet voices talking in the living room, and felt a pang of anxiety, knowing the inevitable conversation would be difficult. You considered rolling over and going back to sleep, but your hand had been out of the brace for too long, and was throbbing painfully.
So, you stood, seeing a sweatshirt of Alexia's folded nicely on the edge of the bed, clearly left for you. It was odd to be taken care of in this way; it felt nice, you felt safe. Carefully tugging the sweatshirt on, you shuffled out into the living room, still groggy. You found your friends lounging with cups of coffee. Mapi and Ingrid were squished in the big armchair together, exhausted, and Alexia was tapping her foot rapidly from the couch, clearly thinking hard.
They all looked up as you entered, sending you kind smiles. Without letting yourself over think it, you plopped down on the couch next to Alexia, leaving a small gap. Your captain closed that gap immediately, wrapping an arm around your shoulders, and pulling you to lean into her.
"Good morning, pequeña. How'd you sleep?" She asked, rubbing a hand up and down your arm.
"Mmm," you responded, giving a thumbs up. You'd just woken up, it was too soon for words. The other girls chuckled. Alexia handed you your brace, having it ready for you, and you put it on carefully. You leaned your head on Alexia's shoulder then, eyes drifting shut again.
Alexia was still kind of surprised at the way you were acting, and if the other girl's faces were any indication, they were too. You were suddenly so willing to seek out the comfort from your friends that you needed. She was glad that you were, but still, worry remained; If you were allowing yourself to accept help, things must be really bad.
You blinked your eyes open after a minute, looking hopefully at Ingrid. "Coffee?" You asked. Ingrid rolled her eyes jokingly, pulling herself out from under Mapi, and heading into the kitchen. Ingrid often suffered from being the person on the team that made the best coffee.
The three of you remained, sitting in a comfortable silence. Ingrid returned quickly, handing you a mug.
"Thank you!" You said, with a smile.
"Anything for you, elskling." Ingrid said quietly, voice heavy with sincerity. You knew she wasn't just talking about making you coffee, and you paled a little, anxiety returning. You trusted your friends, you really did, but you weren't really sure what happened when you were honest with them, when you told them how bad it had gotten.
"Are you ready to talk, y/n?" Mapi asked, speaking for the first time. You nodded hesitantly. There was a long pause, where it seemed like they were waiting for you to say something.
"I'm not really sure where to start." You mumbled, taking a long sip of coffee. Your friends considered, before responding.
"What happened yesterday? When you hurt your hand?" Mapi asked. Alexia felt you tense next to her, and prepared herself for you to close back up.
"I don't really know. I was really upset about the card, and I felt really guilty, I knew you guys would have a hard game down to only 10. I was just... so upset and suddenly I was hitting the concrete." You told then, gaze fixed on the coffee table in front of you.
Mapi took a deep breath. "When you say you felt guilty. Were you trying to hurt yourself?"
You wanted to say no. But lying to them when they had just spent their entire night making sure you were okay felt wrong. Your silence spoke volumes.
"Pequeña, have you ever done anything like that before?" Alexia asked. You couldn't bring yourself to look at her, the pain in her voice almost too much. You knew you wouldn't get away with not responding to this one.
"Yeah." You said, trying to keep it simple and detail free. You felt Alexia inhale a sharp breath next to you, and you knew she was wondering how she missed it. You couldn't let her feel guilty though, not when this wasn't her fault, at all.
"Not often. Only when things are... really bad." You paused, wondering if you should continue. "And I'm really good at hiding it, you wouldn't have any way of knowing." You couldn't meet any of their eyes, instead focusing on the way Mapi's hand intertwined with Ingrid's, holding tightly. You hated that you'd made them upset.
Alexia hadn't spoken again, and you couldn't look at her, worried she was crying. You didn't think you'd be able to take that. Ingrid once again became the voice of reason, pulling herself together enough to ask you another question.
"Y/n," Ingrid began, and you knew what she was going to ask before she spoke. "Can you show us? Or we can leave, and you can show Alexia? We need to know if we need to take care of anything." She spoke soothingly, as if somehow knowing exactly the weight of what she was asking you.
You shook your head, swallowing your tears. "It's just scars right now. There's nothing to see." You told them. There was a hand under your chin, imploring you to look at Alexia. Taking a deep breath, you turned.
"Promise me that there's nothing except scars." Alexia asked. Her eyes were glittering, and even though she spoke harshly, you knew she was just trying to hold it together for you.
"I promise." You said sincerely. Alexia nodded once, taking a deep breath. You turned to look at the other girls then, finding them in similar states. If Alexia didn't cry often, Mapi cried... never. Seeing a few stray tears on her cheeks was jarring. Seeing tears in Ingrid's eyes was rather mundane; the girl cried at sad commercials. But still, present on all of their faces was determination. For what, you weren't really sure.
"Is that what you've been having a hard time with recently? Depression?" Alexia asked. You weren't really sure how to answer. That was part of it, definitely.
"Partly." You said, still trying to gather your thoughts.
"What is the other part?" Alexia insisted. For some reason, talking about your anxiety was harder than talking about being depressed. It felt more personal, so inherently connected to your insecurities. You'd come this far, though.
"I've been really anxious. Since the world cup really. Normally I can block out what everyone says, the pressure from the outside world. I haven't been able to do that recently." You told them, voice starting to shake. You were really tired of crying.
"That sounds really hard, elskling," Ingrid said gently, and you found yourself nodding, a few tears escaping. It HAD been really hard. It was only just hitting you how hard.
"Is that why you haven't been sleeping? You've been too anxious?" Alexia inquired. You nodded.
"Y/n, why didn't you tell us any of this? Why wouldn't you let us help you?" Mapi questioned.
"I don't want you guys to feel like you need to worry about me, or take care of me. I'm an adult, I can handle it myself. You guys have better things to do than sit around and listen to me complain."
"It doesn't really seem like you can handle it yourself, elskling. There's nothing wrong with that though. You're only 20. You don't have to have everything figured out, and you don't need to do everything by yourself. Not when you have people around who care about you, and want to help." Ingrid told you. You really weren't sure if you believed her.
"Look, y/n, obviously this isn't something thats going to fix overnight. But there are a lot of things we can do to get you help. Can you promise me you'll try them?" Alexia asked, ever the planner.
"Yeah. I guess." You responded. Alexia was a little disappointed in your lack of enthusiasm, but Rome wasn't built in a day.
"And, I want you to promise me that when you're having a hard time, you'll try to call one of us. I know that isn't easy for you, but you deserve to be helped when you're hurting, and we want nothing more than to be there for you." Alexia stated. "That goes for anything; if you're hurt, or sick, or sad, or anxious, or feeling like doing something to yourself. You can call any of us, night or day."
"Really? You won't be mad?" You asked, not really letting yourself believe Alexia's words.
Alexia shook her head. "Never. We'll never be mad at you for any of those things. And we'll never be annoyed at you for reaching out to one of us."
"Okay. I can try." You told her, feeling like maybe you could.
"That's all we're asking for, pequeña. Just try for us, okay?" Alexia said. You nodded, wiping at your eyes.
"Thanks, guys." You said, voice barely more than a whisper as you tried to keep it from breaking. Ever one to change the mood, Mapi got up then, jostling Ingrid, and came over to the couch, sprawling across you and Alexia.
"Good. Now I can nap. And keep an eye on you." She said, letting out a contented sigh. You and Alexia tried in vain to push her off of you, laughing. Ingrid rolled her eyes at her girlfriend antics, but came over too, sitting next to you and pressing a kiss to the top of your head. You smiled at her, at all three of them. You felt like, for the first time in a long time, maybe you could do this. Maybe you would be okay. You were going to try at least.
-----
thanks for reading!!!! someone requested r almost getting into a fight and her friends intervening, which didn't really fit into how i wrote the timeline, but if people are into that idea, i could do a oneshot of it. i also might follow this up with r reaching out to each of the girls when she's struggling, because recovery isn't a straight line, and inevitably relapses happen. keep things realistic, + I <3 hurt comfort. let me know if you guys want to see any of this :)
Endless Game
a little prologue... I think I should work more with this idea
You loved video games since you were little.
When you played a new game on a console or computer you felt happy, you felt like you had great power, no one was able to stop you, many people in the virtual worlds you entered admired you, they felt positive things about you.
It was very different from your real life, where you didn't exist... most people didn't recognize you, just a forgettable face.
Not even your family could be different, it was much worse with them, they only surrounded your life like guitres, you had the vague idea that at some point when you died or something bad happened they would finally see you.
They only observed your actions from afar without showing emotions.
For some reason beyond your understanding, you began to reject everyone, it's not that you hated people, but rather you found them annoying with each year you turned.
Of course there were few people who were saved from your hatred.
You began to ignore everyone and see them as bugs, you isolated yourself to enjoy games and other passions of yours.
You changed the sweet and kind girl for another person who only cared about herself, who achieved her goals no matter what she had to do.
No more father or brothers, please look at them or show a little affection.
I just want to be her friend, or I'm a good girl who wouldn't do anything wrong.
You ignored everyone, but those who knew how to use you, what's more, you managed to get revenge, teachers and classmates, paid her for messing with you.
Without remorse and with great force you executed your punishments.
Getting your hands dirty no longer seemed unpleasant, but entertaining.
Seeing their tears of pain and regret, along with the knowledge that you screwed up their lives, caused you great satisfaction and emotion.
Left behind is the bad girl, the stupid one who never understood classes, the skeptical eyes about your intelligence, the words of hate for being born into a good family.
No more jealous children, children who wanted to make you look bad, like a savage and abusive person, or those who wanted to manipulate you to get something from your last name, and then leave you hanging.
Not now, if you were the evil girl, who had no mercy for anyone, you were not bothered by the words that different people said to you because some time later you made them seriously regret it.
You continued playing virtual games, all the time, it was one of your greatest happinesses.
That's why when you saw a new program where they accepted players to try a new virtual reality video game, you accepted. It wasn't difficult to be accepted, nor was it difficult to disappear from your home to enjoy a new gaming experience.
You felt very happy, even when they connected many cables to your body and asked you to put on a special suit, nor when they put you in a capsule, you didn't think about it like the other people who were going to try the game.
Everything was wonderful, it was like a new world or rather universe, you could go anywhere, there was a planet full of magic, another super modern and futuristic one, many realities.
You could do anything, from being an adventurer or having a business.
Like an adventure game but much better, the excitement was more because everything felt very strange.
That is until you got tired and wanted to return to the real world to give yourself basic care and continue living.
but there was a problem, you couldn't do it, something was preventing you from leaving the game.
No matter how hard you tried, you couldn't, not being able to achieve anything made you desperate, a great anger invaded you and you tried again to leave with a lot of anger, but you still didn't achieve anything.
you got stuck in a game with a group of people and a lot of npc's.
Things got worse when they began to see some terrifying monsters or animals, which were very aggressive and destroyed everything in their path.
You and the group of trapped people were barely able to adapt, by the time these creatures began to attack you.
It wasn't even possible to live a normal life in the world because they ended up broken by their new predators.
You gathered around three people, they were two girls and a boy, they formed a shelter type and were in charge of eliminating the disgusting creatures.
Every time you saw them, a chill ran through you, they were not normal, they were like big shadows for the most part, but on some occasions when they were shown you could see how some parts of their bodies changed into scratched lines like televisions when they failed or stopped. static while the entire body moved.
You became agile with katanas and some pistols, more from long range.
The more you learned to defend yourself, the more you could survive, and you also developed your skills in the game as much as you could. just survive and appreciate the little moments you had with your friends.
Well that was until the game ended and everyone came out.
oh so you thought, you tried to accept that you wasted years of your life trapped in a game. You were in a new world again, although this was always the one you belonged to, you didn't know almost anything, everything was different. You tried to make a new life with the help of the government agents who were in charge of your case, everything that happened was a secret due to the possible dangers it presented, so when they left, only a few recovered their lives, while the majority had to form a new one and recover from what was experienced in the game.
It was one of those days of mandatory check-ups, where all survivors of the game had to attend, much more so for the famous group therapy where everyone expressed their pain and trauma from the game.
You hated these days and if you could have missed them, you don't need a large group of people talking about their suffering, it was enough for you to endure yours.
You had to pretend to show sympathy even if you didn't feel it, not like most people who really felt it, sometimes you thought something was wrong with you, but you avoided finding a solution, you didn't want to change your life, as selfish as it may sound, you didn't want to. annoying people surrounding your life.
happened out of nowhere, a large tremor occurred, which took the entire group of people off guard, they were on the terrace of the building, which was a quiet day, in an open space, where the wind hit strongly, and some sounds leaves of birds and cars could be heard, where the enormous buildings belonging to a city could be seen in the distance.
A static sound reached your ears, it was very annoying, you felt like your eardrums would explode, at the same time your head started to hurt, you felt like something was crushing it.
As soon as you were able to concentrate on your hands, they were taking on the same effect that appeared in the game, they became black pixels and changed to colored lines.
The last thing you caught was your colleagues going through the same thing as you.
.......
footsteps were heard behind all the commotion.
There was a small screen, with blue and light blue pixels.
Many people dressed in black suits surrounded her, near that large painting were some scientists.
Some people were talking to people in black suits, their peculiar outfits caught the attention of some curious spectators.
The Justice League and the Young Justice League were present to save the day, after the sudden appearance of some portals that opened the way for creatures that attacked different places, who were not easy to eliminate.
No matter how much the leaders of the large group of heroes tried to enter and save the day, they could not because the people in black suits did not allow them.
"It is not within their jurisdiction" was the only thing they were told.
Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman were the ones who tried to reason with the people who did not allow them to enter. Some heels were getting closer and closer, behind them other footsteps could also be heard.
"So you're going to participate" a female voice mocked.
a growl was his response.
"Just don't be a hindrance" a thick voice was heard.
"hahahaha I'm going to get in your way, you're a great comedian.... you don't become dead weight" the funny voice became cold and merciless.
"Civilians can't pass, it's dangerous," the voices of some young people were heard, who stopped the two figures.
An emotionless look was the response to the young heroes while the heroes looked with surprise at these strange characters, one wore yellowish colors in his suit, another with a dark suit with red and green, some women with suits attached to their body, perhaps hero fashion. They had a magician, an alien girl, one with arrows.... other guys with more suits.
The two people continued to advance, but were stopped by the heroes who saw two civilians continue walking despite the orders they were given.
A great commotion arose since the two unknown characters took out their weapons, the girl had sheathed the handle of her katana and raised it a little from its sheath, while the man took out two weapons ready to be fired.
Some piercing glances were cast.
"Enough, I'm not going to continue with this nonsense," the female voice complained.
"MR. BRONW!!!!" It was a loud shout that everyone could hear, even the people who were talking near the portal.
A few footsteps came quickly to where the two peculiar characters with weapons were.
"Aaaaa miss ___, it's good that you arrived, we were waiting for you" a small man spoke with a meek voice. "
It really doesn't seem like it with so many heroes here" he put away his katana before crossing his arms angrily.
"nonono ignore them... come follow me" he pulled the girl's hand ignoring the people who were witnessing the scene.
They reached the big screen where they were stopped by the guards.
........
You sighed, annoyed by everything that was happening, they called you to enter a new portal and it turns out that not only are you going to enter with one of the people you couldn't tolerate, but a lot of heroes won't allow you to do your job.
"Seriously, let's do this again," you complained to the man in front of you.
"ID" he said dryly.
You clenched your hands angrily.
Not only did you have to endure a long trip, where many people looked at you, but also a long process to be allowed to do your job.
"Wait, are you going to let these two kids in?"
"They are not heroes, they are civilians"
"they can't handle something like that"
You raised your arm and put it in the man's face, before crushing your skin.
In a few seconds a circle with bright lines appeared on your arm. The lights projected a large screen in the air where some letters appeared.
"It's class S" some voices whispered.
You smiled when you saw how they allowed you to pass.
"Well, I think this civilian is going to take care of the problems," you said out loud.
You pressed your hand on the locked screen, soon projecting the silhouettes of a stage. leaving neutral colors behind.
You took out your sword and held it in your hand.
you walked slowly towards the screen.
You entered calmly. It was always strange when you returned to your old virtual prison.
you smiled as you eliminated one of the warriors of the final villain of this place. a few more and you would face the most powerful on the floor.
You were looking forward to it.
but you knew that at the end all emotion would go away, your colorful life would become gray again, you wondered where everything changed, where was the girl full of dreams and smiling laughter?
were you a monster? You could barely relate to people, you had little appreciation for them, you became like a wild animal when it came to fighting but it was nothing in your life as a civilian.
You continued attacking all the monsters that came your way.
you used every attack you had, remembering how you did before when you were trapped in the game.
It was not only a fight to survive and not become another patient with a cerebral coma in the hospital, but to protect all the people from the danger of the game that had trapped you a few months ago in their system.
Oh at least those words were repeated to you by your new bosses when they sent you on a new mission to the new portals that opened.
In the end, with the help of the shooter who entered the game with you, you were able to defeat the final boss. and just as you said, your adrenaline along with your happiness was running out.
You looked at your hands, they were red, raw, it must have been because of the great force with which you squeezed your katanas.
You indulged yourself in your hands, ignoring everything around you, you just wanted to get to your apartment and play your video games.
They didn't give you the same feeling that was draining from your body, but at least it allowed you to feel something similar.
You walked out of the portal, playing with the jewel left by the final boss, you threw it into the air and watched it fall again.
It was more entertaining than dealing with all the heroes who were probably arguing with your bosses.
You were not wrong because you could see how the heroes argued with some men in suits that you saw in the new meetings with the players who agreed to eliminate the characters that appeared from the game.
You opened the screen by pressing the button on your arm, it was very strange to see it, they reminded you of the robots in that video game with rebellious robots and police officers.
You changed your clothes, your suit had been damaged, you were going to miss it every time you wore it, you remembered the Japanese girls from some video games.
You were going to go back to your house to continue with your boring life until the next attack.... but you looked away to see the heroes again, your gaze collided with the man in the bat suit.
You felt something strange, a great discomfort, you felt like you had to run, this worried you, fear... you overcame this feeling a long time ago.
That person in that suit managed to worry you, something strange about you, that person seemed familiar to you, it reminded you of your family.
"____ well done, I was fascinated with your work" a new voice appeared next to you.
"Funny you say... how do you know what I did" you questioned the boy, he was one of the scientists who was researching how the game appeared in the flesh in the real world.
"ahh you didn't know, since you entered, some screens appeared that showed how you fought with Red against the monsters"
......
A letter remained on the elegant desk full of papers.
Bruce barely paid attention to it, because it was something insignificant, nothing worth taking a look at.
I had more important matters to attend to. He thought about throwing it in the trash because he considered that piece of paper to be trash.
Even so, he couldn't, not when he remembered the girl's face, his daughter had given it to him when she returned from school.
He threw it in a drawer before returning to his own business.
He never thought he would desperately search for that piece of paper again.
He had seen his daughter for a long time, she simply vanished, no one knew her whereabouts, no matter how hard he looked, he couldn't find her.
The only thing he had left was a couple of photos that were taken desperately by his children. a dark room with thousands of machines and artificial lights. video games, the cameras showed him how his lively and affectionate daughter became with each passing day a lonely girl, devoid of emotions and immersed in video games.
When he opened the paper he found a drawing of hearts, a poorly drawn person and a message... "To my hero, dad, you are the best and I love you very much" with sloppy handwriting that looks like scribbles.
He knew you were alive, he saw you on this hectic day.
You were part of the new entrants that were fighting with the new monsters that were beginning to appear.
I never hope to see you again... he thought he had lost you forever, his daughter, the girl he never saw, one of his greatest regrets.
But now if it was really you, he could fix everything.
compensate you for being the worst father and give you what you always deserved.
be the person in your drawing from many years ago
Hi! You wrote Lucifer so beautifully I was wondering if you'd do a request? I keep wanting to see a really cute fic where either reader or Lucifer is nervous to make a move on the other because it's Charlie's friend or dad (depending whose perspective it was written from) and she finds out somehow and gives her blessing wanting them to be happy together. Thanks for hearing me out regardless and have a great day! :D
A/N — Oh you have no idea how much I love this request! Your kind words on my post made me so happy! Sorry it took so long, it's been a hectic week. I hope this is okay for being written in my half awake state :)
Nervousness | Lucifer x Reader
Warnings: Fluff, slight angsty theme, Luci being Luci (aka babygirl)
Word Count: 1,024
You were going to lose your mind.
If it wasn't from the knowing glances he sent you from across the room at any event, it would be the way he made it his mission to talk to you whenever he came to the hotel to make sure the place was still standing.
You did your best to ignore the way you had felt because that was your friend's dad — your best friend's dad at that.
You hated the way you were reduced to a blushing and stuttering mess in his presence, something that no doubt made Lucifer puff his chest out like a prideful peacock.
You hoped Charlie was too occupied with the hotel to notice any exchange.
Even if she did somehow notice, there was only so much that you could do, so you did what you do best: you avoided him. You avoided him like the fucking plague.
Not because you hated him, no. . . You just wanted to keep some shred of dignity. If Charlie told you he was coming (she always did), you found something to do literally anywhere else; grocery shopping, visiting your family, dragging Angel out for lunch — anything.
And then things began showing up.
At first it was your favorite flowers on a random Wednesday with a note attached, delivered right to the receptionist desk that you spent most of your days at.
Heard you've been feeling down, hope these can lift you up :) — L.M.
Then it became notes with cheesy pick-up lines that you'd randomly find between stacks of papers or in your purse.
Even when he wasn't physically there to make you blush, he somehow managed to, just by writing silly little notes and signing his name.
I don’t know much about astrology, but I do know how the universe started. It started with u n i ;) — L.M.
Are you a magician? ‘Cause every time I look at you, everyone else disappears! — L.M.
Do you believe in love at first sight, or should I walk by again and again until you do? — L.M.
If you were a fruit, you’d be a fine-apple. — L.M.
You'd be a liar if you tried to tell yourself that you hated it — you didn't hate the notes or him, you enjoyed both the notes and his presence (when he wasn't staring at you so intensely that you became a stuttering mess).
Then one day, the notes stopped.
Instead, they were replaced by lunch from your favorite restaurant in the Pride Ring and the King of Hell himself, sitting in your chair when you returned from the bathroom.
Charlie hadn't told you he would be coming. . . Maybe she didn't know?
"You can't avoid me forever, you know?" Lucifer questioned in a low tone, a lazy smirk adorning his face as you reached for the bag of goods.
"I'm not avoiding you." You stated as if it were the absolute truth.
"You're avoiding eye contact with me right now, [Y/N]. . . You know she wouldn't care, right? Well, she would care, but she wouldn't be mad."
You shook your head and laughed slightly. Charlie was unbelievably understanding, especially for someone who grew up in Hell, but even understanding people had their limits.
You had your limits.
"I can't." You whispered, momentarily glancing towards the doors. "She's my best friend and you love Lilith."
The words made your heart hurt, but you had to say them.
Someone had to.
"Is it the ring? Because I can lose the ring!" He stood from the chair and placed his hand in front of your face, making a small show of removing the singular piece of jewelry that bound him to his past lover.
It wasn't just the ring.
You were scared of the worst that could happen, the unspoken boundaries that dating your best friend's dad would inevitably cross. It didn't help that nervousness was eating away at your being with every note or longing glance from across the room.
What helped even less was the effect his voice had on you. Not only his voice but his general presence, his aura, his ethereal beauty that seemed to be only reserved for his pleasure.
"I can't." You repeated once more.
It had been a week since the conversation took place and you were flooded with more notes and flowers than before.
The pick-up lines increased in cheesiness, which ironically enough, only made you want him more.
You were in the middle of working when Charlie walked in carrying a vase full of your favorite flowers. You hadn't noticed until she spoke.
"My dad sent another one for you. . . You should give him a chance [Y/N]. I think it's nice that he's trying to get out there after my mom."
You paused, looking up at Charlie. Did you hear her correctly?
"What?" You asked.
"Well, my dad's been sending you flowers for a while now and he seems to really like you. I think you'd be good for each other — I mean, he looks at you like you put the stars in the sky! Which is soooooooo sweet! I know you feel the same way about him, so you should go for it!"
You gaped at your best friend.
"What — how?"
"I have my ways. . . Besides, he only met you six months ago and I'd rather him date you than someone who only cares about his status. I want you both to be happy, and if you're happy with each other, I'm happy for you!"
"I mean, are you sure? There has to be someone —"
"He loves you!" Charlie blurted out, immediately covering her mouth with wide eyes.
You only stared with wide eyes and uncertainty gnawing at you.
"It's true, and I'm taking you out tonight, [Y/N]." Lucifer's voice said from behind you.
You turned around and before you could utter those four words in return, or even anything to question what just happened, he kissed your cheek and disappeared, leaving a note where he had just previously been.
Hey, tie your shoelaces. I don’t want you falling for anyone else. — Lucifer
When had he stopped signing L.M.?
Clouds
Trigger warning : Angst, car accident, hospitals.
PART 2 (Ona's POV) IS HERE
______________________________________________________________
Celebrating a new victory for FC Barcelona, you find yourself with almost all of your teammates in an establishment which has been privatized just for you. It's now 2 o'clock in the morning and you saw Mapi and Ingrid slip away more or less discreetly already one hour ago. You think you were the only one to see them go and you couldn’t help but wink at Ingrid when your eyes crossed. She blushed slightly before raising both eyebrows in your direction.
Well maybe you weren’t in the best position to tease her, Ona was sitting on your lap with her drink in her hand while talking with Alexia. Even though you’ve only been together for a one year and some more, you can’t deny that you’re already totally crazy about the spaniard. You met the summer she came back from Manchester.
You had already met her several times on the football fields, already noticing her beauty, but when you got to know her more it was like love at first sight. And by a real miracle, it seems that the feelings are shared. You still wonder every morning when you wake up next to her how a woman like Ona Batlle could focus her attention on you.
Lost in your thoughts, you come back to earth only when you feel her lips gently land in your neck.
"Dance with me?" she asks and you smile lightly.
"You know that I'm a terrible dancer"
It was true. You're a forward and you have good dribbling skills, but when it comes to coordinating your moves on a dance floor, we’re not far from disaster.
Ona pouts and you roll your eyes. That’s enough for her to jump on both legs with a big smile, understanding that you just gave up.
"So smitten"
You hear Alexia teasing and make her a grimace over your shoulder as Ona drags you to the dance floor, making her grin in return. Alexia is your bestfriend and you know she's in really very happy you found someone to be happy with. And the Someone being Ona Batlle, she didn't understand why she never thought to introduce you before.
You have to admit that you have fun with Ona on the dance floor. You weren't really dancing, more goofing around, laughing and swaying when the music go soft.
That's actually where you are, your arms keeping your girlfriend very close to your body. Her hands are around your neck and you kind of got lost in her beautiful eyes. She kisses you and you happily kiss her back for some minutes. You're maybe not out for the rest of the world, but your friends and family know about you two.
"Shall we go home?" you ask a little after.
Ona nods and after taking the time to say goodbye to the girls who have not left yet, you find the fresh air of the Barcelona nights. As you are just next to your appartment, you choose to crash here for the night. Ona being a little smaller than you are, she would wear one of your shirt for the night.
You smile when the spaniard grabs your hand to walk, arching an eyebrow.
"I’m not sure being like this gonna keep people from suspecting that something is happening between the two of us, Love."
Ona shrugs, looking at you from the corner of her eye.
"Well maybe that way people will stop imagining that you’re dating that B team guy."
She pretends to throw up and you can’t help but laugh. That was like two weeks ago for a gala, you posed with this boy for a simple photo and Twitter practically caught fire. So did your secret girlfriend’s jealousy. Your parents are conservative, so you’ve never talked openly about your sexuality. That probably played a big part in this case.
"You know you have no reason to be jealous"
"Yes. Still."
You smile once more and kiss her cheek before crossing the road. From that moment on, everything seemed to be idling. The headlights of a car approaching too fast, the squeaks of the tires and the terrified cry of Ona after the impact. You just had time to take her in your arms and push her out of the way of the car. That's the last things you can remember.
******************
When you wake up, you can't feel anything, but in a good way. You can't open your eyes either, but you feel like you're floating. Remembering a conversation you had with Ona while looking at the stars on her balcony, you make the decision that you are simply lying on a cloud. As the time pass, you begin asking yourself what you are doing on this comfy cloud. That's when the memories came back and first you wonder if Ona is safe. You heard her scream before going numb but it wasn't a cry of pain, physical at least.
And then, you wonder if you are dead. But if that means you saved Ona’s life, is there a better way to die? Probably not.
You feel something a little bit after, that surprises you, even makes you panic a little. Something touches your hand and you feel your heart racing. Strange, for someone dead right?
"What's happening?"
Man this voice, you could recognize it between a thousand, even distorted by anxiety like now. It's Ona's voice.
"Looks like she’s reacting to your touch. That’s pretty good."
You don't know this one, but if she can make feel Ona better, you like her already. The tonality make you imagine an old lady, with grey hair and glasses. Ona stay silence after but you can feel her fingers gently caressing your hand.
"I don't know where I can touch you without hurting you more" she mumble, making you wonder what you look like.
******************
You get bored and wonder what would happend if you just let yourself fly higher. If you let go. So you let yourself go and you start to feel lighter and lighter.
Until you were punched in the chest, brought back to your cloud.
The force of the blow cuts your breathing briefly and a new voice, which you also know very well, sounds in your ears.
"Oh no, don't you dare do that. Not now that I finally managed to convince your girlfriend to come home, shower and change."
Well excuse yourself Miss Putellas but what the hell are you doing on my fluffy lovely cloud? That said, the firmness of her voice changes you a little bit from the sweetness of the one Ona is talking to you with. So you stay on your cloud until your lady comes back. She does a little later, after a door slammed.
"What the hell happened?"
You feel her hands touching your face as Alexia’s voice explains in the background what happened, explaining that everything is fine now.
******************
Time fly again and you wake up in a middle of a conversation. Ona is here once again and you realise that she's talking with her mom.
"I'm so mad at her" you hear Ona say.
"I understand. But I'm more grateful. She saved your life."
You can perfectly picture the scene, Ona in her mother's arms while she gently rocks her. Ona's mother as always been affectionate, even with you. You were at first surprised by the welcome hugs, but it's kind of nice. Your parents aren't really fond of the life you choose, being gay and a football player, so you don't really catch with them a lot. But it's ok like this for you.
"What am I gonna do if she doesn’t wake up Mama? I can’t live without her"
Ona’s voice is choked, meaning she must be crying. And it makes you want to do it too, or at least make her understand that you are still there and that you can hear her. But you don’t know how to do it, even opening your eyes seems impossible. Thanks god, her mom is here.
"She will wake up, Ona. Your story isn't finish now."
A silence passe only interrupted by Ona’s sniffs.
"Your brother is here"
"But I told him not to come" Ona frowns.
"As if he was going to listen to you. He knows you need him and you are as stubborn as each other."
A new silence comes, smaller this one.
"Will her parents come?" Ona's mother ask.
"No. They said they’d come when she woke up. Not sure I’ll let them in though."
While Ona seems angry with this information, you're not really surprised. Like you said before, your parents aren't really supportive of you. Their only daughter did not really meet the expectations they had. You haven’t seen them since Christmas two years ago, last year you spent it with Ona and her family. As for the summer holidays, you preferred to fly away to rest in the sun with your friends and Ona. In any case, they themselves did not mention a possible meeting.
******************
Time has continued to stretch, but you have no idea how long you have been there, floating on your cloud. What you do know is you’d like to know how to get back to your people. You have daily visits, Alexia, Ona’s parents and brother, your teammates and obviously Ona who seems to camp by your side.
Ona talks to you often, makes you listen to music or keeps you informed of your condition. You apparently have bruises all over the place, four broken ribs and a dislocated shoulder. With serious head trauma, but contrary to the doctors' fears, you have no cracks in your skull. You were relieved to learn that you had nothing on your legs. That way you will return to the fields easier.
Alexia tell you about Ona, usually being there when your girlfriend leaves your bedside to take care of herself. Alexia encourages you to come back to Ona, explaining how much she needs you. She sometimes adds that she also wouldn't mind to have her bestfriend back.
Others, like Ingrid, Aitana or Lucy, stay here in silence, but their presence are great too. Some of them take your hand too, usually Ingrid. You hate being alone but you have to admit that you really rarely are. Even Laia flew back from Manchester for some days, wanting to be here for Ona.
******************
"Today is our birthday"
Ona's voice is sweet as always but the information startle you a little. The day of the accident, you still had two weeks to think about a memorable day for your girl. You already had the gift, but not the rest. You had not imagined that so much time had passed since.
"I found the necklace, I didn't mean to but I was looking for one of your hoodie and the box just fell on the floor."
She speaks quickly, as if she expected you to wake up and scold her. Once again you can easily imagine the expressions on her face, the way she would look her shoes and the slight reddening on her cheeks. Instead, you feel your heart swell with love for her a little more. And the bip of the monitoring - that you’ve been hearing for some time now - seem to want to transmit the information to Ona by accelerating a little.
She's closer now, you can smell her shampoo as she gently strokes your hair. When she talk again, her voice is a whisper.
"The necklace is beautiful, but I promise you’ll never have to give me anything again if you wake up today. I want nothing but your presence by my side. I miss you so much."
You miss her too, you have to admit. You miss hugging her, kissing her or watching her like the creep you are while she's sleeping.
So this time, you try to open your eyes, with all that you have. It take some time, Ona keeps talking, but you can’t focus on what she’s saying and the efforts you’re making at the same time.
It takes you some time, but you eventually succeed.
Everything is too bright suddenly and you close your eyes immediately. The hum of Ona’s monologue stops instantly and you hear the sound of a chair rattling the floor. But you try again, this time long enough to allow your eyes to get a little better at the ambient light. You feel the mattress sag at your waist, before your eyes can finally focus on the one thing that really matters. Ona’s face.
She looks at you too, looking too stunned to speak.
"Nice necklace" you mumbling, your voice hoarse and broken from not being used for two weeks.
Ona kind of broke down, bursting into tears and lying half on you, her face buried in your neck. You slowly raise your arm - your muscles all seem numb - to caress her hair.
"You're awake"
You hear Ona repeat this phrase several times, before she gets up to look at you again.
"You're awake" she says again, this time while looking at you.
"I love you" you prefer answering, focusing of what matter for you. Not being able to say it back for so long was kind of frustrating.
She smiles between her tears and kiss you with all the love and tenderness she have. You reciproque the kiss as well as you can, and just when Ona pulls back you hear the door of your room being open.
"They didn’t have the coffee you like anymore, I hope it fits you. They’re all filthy in this hospital anyway" Alexia grumbles without looking in your direction.
"Well hello to you too Miss Putellas" you said.
Alexia turns in your direction so quickly that you wouldn't be surprised to learn that she have a stiff neck. The surprise made her drop the cup of coffee she was holding in her hand and it took her a few more seconds to rush to the two of you.
And for the first time since you are here, you hear Ona’s laughter ringing in the room.
Playing with fire's only gonna get you burned. Unless you're, like, into that kinda thing.
a/n: this fic is sponsored by wellbutrin... kidding. but that's the only reason i've actually been able to sit down and focus / write lately. this was requested eons ago, and with the greatest guilt, i'm just now posting it. also, i wrote it in a day. as in, today. i hope it's okay. <3
It started out innocently. A curious snoop in a big, almost-empty mansion, inhabited by two abandoned people left here by their families.
He hadn’t expected her to go digging around in his stuff, and she didn’t think he’d come home early. Both were wrong. And as the thin material slips from beneath her fingertips in shock, he gives her an indescribable look. His nails rap on the wood of the doorframe and she stands, speechless.
“Uh…”
“Hey, princess. Like what you see?”
-------------------------------------------------
The Salvatore Boarding House is where you found him. You wandered for some time before running into him and finding his company relieving.
Of course, getting to trust Kai took some time. You found common ground in the fact that you both were hated by the Gemini Coven. Both had been sent here by them; Kai, sixteen years ago, you, only one, and both had been frowned upon by their families. But while you shared the same enemy, you were afraid for a while that Kai would be an enemy, too, considering what he did to be sent to the prison world. Apparently, as reported by his own tongue and the daily paper, he had slaughtered four of his siblings in an attempt to kill the youngest two. He didn’t feel much sorrow, nor regret, over his actions, and explained his methods of killing with a rather monotone voice. When asked if he’d kill you, he shrugged.
“No point in doing that, really. It’s not like you can die, anyway.”
And that was that.
For weeks, you feared him, but he got better as the days passed. Kai’s actually pretty funny and can cook well. And though you’ve never said it out loud, he’s pretty cute, too. Over time, your companionship turns into a friendship. You swap stories about your past and come to understand each other better. As cold as life has made him, you don’t think he wasn’t always that way. The more you grow to trust him, you start to see a side you’re not sure he’s even seen in himself for years. Sometimes you forget you’re all alone in a prison together, save for the fact you’re the only ones there. Sometimes, it doesn’t feel like a sentence for a punishment you both may or may not deserve.
But lately, something’s been off.
It’s not that anything’s changed about Kai, but more so that it just feels… different. The young witch is the same playful, unserious boy you’ve known for months, but a few times, you’ve caught a glimmer in his eye you can’t quite decipher. He’s a troublemaker for sure, and though you’ve never seen malicious behavior, your head is filling with questions if he’s capable of some other kind of behavior you haven’t considered.
Basically, things have been disappearing from your closet. Your favorite bracelets, a few lip balms, and clothes, even some you know you threw in the laundry bin. For a bit of time, you blame it on the same-day repeating thing. Maybe the gloss you stole from the department store has just been returned to its original spot to be sold. Maybe yesterday’s pair of underwear went back to the bottom of your drawer. Maybe the shirt you wore when you entered the prison world got swept through some portal back to the real world, because you hadn’t worn it here yet, so it must not be able to exist.
One morning, ruminating thoughts swirl in your mind as you try to mentally explain the disappearances. It’s a rather new thing - within the last few weeks - and nothing like this had happened in the first couple months you were still roaming the empty earth.
At the kitchen counter, you must seem lost in thought, because Kai shuffles a pancake off his spatula and onto your plate then nods. “What’s up?”
“My clothes are disappearing.”
“What?”
“Have you ever had that happen to you?”
“What do you mean?”
“Out of my room. I’ll toss a shirt in my hamper, and it’s gone. My favorite chapstick isn’t in my nightstand drawer anymore.”
“Weird.”
“You’ve never lost anything?”
“I mean… misplaced things, yeah. But I know I just put them somewhere where I can’t remember where I put them, y’know? Maybe that’s it.”
“Maybe.” You take a bite of the food and smile up at him. “Ooh, perfect! Thank you.”
He returns the smile with a wink that makes you shyly look down. You eat in a comfortable silence, omit the CD player beside you being just barely audible; Billie Joe Armstrong whispers uncharacteristically rather than shouting into your ear at nine in the morning.
He starts to speak again while gathering the dishes. “Hey, I need to take a quick trip to the store today, want to come?”
“Wait, why? We just went?” You ask, frowning.
“That house down the street had a cookbook I’m borrowing-” you chuckle at the word choice, “-and I’m gonna try one of the recipes in it, but we need, like, half the things in it.”
You think about it. Going grocery shopping with him is always an entertaining experience, but you were planning on flipping your room inside out to look for your stuff instead. The most recent thing to disappear was one of your favorite underwear sets, and if you don’t find it, it’ll drive you crazy. Explaining this, though, sounds ridiculous, so you make an excuse. With a shrug, “don’t really feel like being cold today.” Despite no one around to operate it, Bell’s refrigerator section stays cold.
“You have a jacket. Or you can borrow one.”
“You always take, like, ten years in there, and the cold seeps through eventually.”
He gives you a sassy look, but it’s true, so he knows he can’t really argue. “Alright.”
“Plus if you’re trying a new recipe, it’s going to take even longer for you to find everything you need. And then the recipe won’t have enough detail, so you’ll sit there for five minutes, debating if you should use brown sugar or light brown sugar.”
“Okay, you’ve made your point!” You smile in satisfaction. “I’ll go by myself. Won’t take more than an hour.”
“Two, maybe.”
He glares at you, but you only laugh. Kai, by now, is harmless to you. You can poke and prod him all you want and know he won’t hurt you. Maybe if his family put a little trust in him, they would’ve known that, too.
“I’m leaving in ten.”
“Okay. Be safe from any vortexes that could contain aliens coming to invade our planet.”
He stares at you, then gives a playful roll of his eyes. You laugh.
~~~~~~~~~~
It doesn’t make sense. You’ve flipped your room about a thousand times in the last hour and nothing, not a single one of your lost items have appeared. It’s actually driving you insane. On second thought, you might be going insane. You know internally that stuff doesn’t just disappear in this world. Some things might return to the way they were before - the Dookie album annoyingly starts at “Burnout” every morning that Kai presses play; the grocery store is always fully stocked, no matter how many bags of chips you take in a single day - but things don’t just get lost. The prison world has structure, in its own extremely aggravating way. If something’s missing, you lost it.
But you’ve flipped your room three times to no avail. If something’s missing, it must not be in your room at all. You sigh, sitting in the middle of your now-messy room, and think. It is possible that they got mixed up in the laundry with Kai’s stuff and neither of you noticed. Of course, that doesn’t account for your two missing chapsticks, but maybe those were in pockets that ended up in the laundry, too. You crinkle your nose at the thought. If that’s the case, that chapstick and the hoodie it’s in are definitely ruined.
With the new idea in your mind, you head to the laundry room to check it out. It’s a rather long walk down the hall and to your left, making you wonder, again, whose house - sorry, mansion - this is in the present day, and could they be living here now, in the real world? You and Kai have talked about it before, made bets on the residents’ identities and personalities. Kai thinks it’s the mayor’s, and that he’s some oldish rich guy with a trophy wife, who needed to live far away from his “village” to exude “dominance,” as if this were the middle ages. That, or a thousand year old witch who moved out here to never be bothered. You swear it’s vampires, but he always shakes his head, “that’s not a thing.” You think otherwise.
But regardless of who lives in the house, you can both agree it’s an insane amount of house for anyone. Though, neither can complain about the dungeon in the basement. It’s a nice touch. In fact, every house should have one.
The laundry room checks out to be clean. There’s not a single sign of anything missing or out of place, and by this point, you just feel like giving up. Maybe the laundry ate them in the way it always seems to eat one sock. Oh well, because the constant search is only stressing you out. You stand there bored for a moment while trying to think of something to do. You could read; the library downstairs must have a thousand different books. Or, you could snoop the mansion. Kai’s shown you tons of stuff he’s found over the years: diaries, letters, secrets. Whoever lived here has quite the story to tell, but those things aren’t always easily found. The letters had been hidden in books, and between closely stacked books, and the most telling diary he’s found was in the floorboard of the furthest room on the right. Surely there’s more that Kai hasn’t discovered yet.
You decide, then, that the best entertainment will be to snoop around the old Victorian home, because… why not? You can’t settle down enough to read, and when has anyone not had fun digging into other people’s business? After all, that’s what got you sent to the prison world in the first place.
A part of you is most curious about the dungeon, so you decide to start there when something in the corner of your eye makes you pause. A lock, uncharacteristically on Kai’s bedroom door. It’s odd, considering the openness between you two; you’ve never felt the need to hide things from each other, and you’re not sure when he started feeling differently. You stare at it, curious and a bit hurt, before inserting your nail into the hole on the bottom. Again, you ended up here by pissing off one Parker, what’s stopping you from egging on another? And what would Kai possibly do to you that would hurt you? Like you told yourself earlier, towards you, he’s completely harmless.
In a couple minutes’ time, you finally free the lock of its duty and push the door open. Inside, it looks normal. He’s always been clean and his room is no exception. You’ve seen it before, when he didn’t feel the need to put a suspicious lock on it, and it looks the same then as it does now. Still… that little weasel is hiding something, and you’ll be damned if you don’t at least peek. You step further inside, leaving the door wide open so you can hear if he comes back.
To your displeasure, a five minute search yields no secrets. You’ve looked under his bed, in his drawers, and everywhere else that’s definitely invading his privacy, but hey, you were under the impression that there was no privacy in the prison world. You start your way back to the door, but then open the closet you had previously ignored, just in case. It checks as normal, but then… up high, in the corner, sits a little box out of reach. And by out of reach, you mean even for Kai, who’s rather tall, meaning even he would need a stool to retrieve it. Curiosity quickly gets the better of you and you fetch the nearest stool to grab it. Something this well hidden must be fun. And who knows, maybe it’s the residents’ mystery box, and Kai doesn’t even know it’s there? At least, that’s what you tell yourself to excuse your nosiness.
Though, immediately upon opening it, that’s proven to definitely not be the case.
A whiff of perfume floods your nose the moment you take off the lid. It’s familiar, and warm, and quickly, you realize it’s yours. Then, your heart drops at the first thing inside - something he should not have, and frankly, shouldn’t even exist - which is a polaroid of you. Specifically, of you on your side, asleep, bare chested, with your comforter just barely covering your hips. Your spine is the main focus of the shot, but a little bit of your exposed breast shows. You drop it with a gasp. It flutters down and lands in a different place than where you had picked it up, revealing more. Each polaroid in the stack shows more and more of your body in every shot. Sometimes, your breasts are covered by a thin, lacy piece, but more often than not, your top is completely bare. Your comforter, luckily, stays at your hips, and the one or two times it slips further, you’re covered in your favorite floral set, but then you pause. That particular set disappeared a while ago, and now, you think you know why.
Dropping the polaroid, you remove all the photos from the box to reveal what’s hidden underneath, and oh, does it shock you. Instantly, you eye your favorite set, causing you to swallow hard. Your perfume’s also in the box, alongside all your missing items: your chapsticks, bracelets, and three more pieces of your clothes. That rat. He’s been taking your things the whole time! Then giving no more than a shrug when you bring it up. Kai has been sneaking into your room at night, taking pictures of you and stealing your things, then acting none the wiser in the day. You try to feel angry, but you’re more shocked than anything.
Hesitantly, you pick up a pair of your underwear, inspecting it as if you can’t believe it’s really there. You roll your eyes in disbelief as it slips off your finger, back down into the incriminating box.
A knock raps on the doorframe. You freeze; you hadn’t heard anyone come in.
“Hey, princess,” Kai says, standing there, “like what you see?”
Your mouth falls open, a thousand words rising up your throat, but none of them coming out. You were shocked before, but then his sudden entrance and his laidback reaction makes you angry, and when he stands there, waiting for your response, you only find yourself shocked again. Surprised, that he’s found you digging through your stuff, yet doesn’t seem to care.
That is, unless, the anger is bubbling underneath his fond smile. You know that Kai has an unpredictable edge to him. Sometimes, he’s quiet in his anger and lets it stew before exploding. You’ve only been on the receiving end of it once, ages ago, when you were still getting used to each others’ routines and you got too much in his way. You’ve seen it since then, but not directed at you: his father, mostly; his lack of magic; his misguidance about the world. But sometimes, oftentimes, he’s short in patience and snappy in reaction. He responds to disruption the same way his father does: suddenly, mercilessly. It’s all he knows, after all.
But the Kai standing in front of you now, watching you, is neither of those things. He doesn’t seem angry or agitated. Caught off guard, certainly, but while that look is interpreted through his eyes, a small smile counters it. You stare a bit longer. Amused is more like it. He’s amused by your reaction. By you finding your clothes in his room and having no idea how to react to it. Initially, his posture held some indignation, probably because you were going through his stuff and had picked the quite secure lock to do so, but any ill feeling dissipates at the look on your face you’re sure is amusing to him.
You try to replace your shocked look with a stern one. He only laughs.
“Want to tell me why my stuff is in a box in your room, which was locked, by the way, not sure if you’re aware. Since when do we lock our rooms, Kai?”
He looks surprised by your sudden snap. Good. Unfortunately, he recovers quickly.
“Want to tell me why you’re going through my stuff in the first place?”
You scoff. “I think the more pressing matter is the fact that you’ve been stealing my clothes! And- and- not only stealing, but look at this-” you toss a polaroid at him as if he hasn’t seen, taken, them himself- “how long have you been lurking in my room while I’m asleep?! Taking pictures of me sleeping? Not caring if I’m literally nude in half of them?!”
“I’d argue the nude ones are the best ones,” he says with a shrug.
You scoff again. “What would possess you to do this? Why are you taking my stuff?”
“Y’know, princess… What’s funny to me is that your questions are just questions.”
“What the hell does that mean?”
“You’re asking questions simply to know the answers. A playful curiosity. There’s no anger in your tone, no spite in your words.”
“Oh, I’m angry, Kai. I’m pretty fucking pissed off right now.”
He only chuckles. “Still not hearing it. See, I know anger. Anger’s my father, who has a harsh bark but a nastier bite. You, my angel,” he crouches down in front of you now, “have no bite.”
“Fuck you.” You push his shoulder. He barely sways, but you were kind of hoping to knock him over. You wait a moment, then try again.
Kai, though, easily predicts your actions and grabs your wrist as soon as it comes within his reach. He holds on with a tight grip and you almost lose your balance.
“Let go,” you grumble, raising your other fist. It only makes it halfway before he grabs that one, too. “Kai.” You struggle in his hands. “What the fuck? Let go of me.”
“Ah, ah.” He tilts his head to the side, a look that means nothing but trouble. “You were a bad girl to go through my stuff.”
“It’s my stuff, actually.”
“It became mine the minute it crossed the threshold of this house. You became mine.”
“What the fuck does that mean? This isn’t even your house!”
“But it is my prison world. Built for me when I committed a crime so heinous, they felt the need to lock me up. But you… what are you in here for? Stealing a book?”
“It was a grimoire, you fuck. Your father’s. So clearly my crime was equally heinous and they sent me here, too. The moment I got dropped here, this no longer became just your world.”
“You raise a good point. But still, I was here first. And I’m the oldest of my siblings, so I can tell you what to do.”
“You have a twin,” you counter, “who’s probably older than you by now, considering neither of us have aged, and you’ve been here sixteen years already. She’s probably… thirty-eight by now? Probably married, has some kids, a nice house.”
“Stop talking,” he snaps, tightening his grip on your wrists. They burn, but it doesn’t bother you. Egging him on is more fun. The tight cord of his control is breaking.
“I’m just saying. Oh, and your younger twins, the two you didn’t get to kill. They’re, uh, twenty, now, I think. I saw them, actually, when I broke into your father’s house. They’re both blonde, wherever that gene came from.”
“Y/N-”
“Jo wasn’t there. Not sure where she went. Probably does have a house somewhere. Somewhere far, far, away from fucking Portland. Good for her, that place is a shithole.”
His grip tightens, his body almost shaking with anger now. “Stop. Talking.”
“Or what? Are you gonna attack me?” You put on your best puppy eyes. “Show me your bite’s worse than your bark? Because I’m just proving to you that I can bite. Don’t like it, do you? Yeah, well, I didn’t like finding my lingerie in a box in your room, but I guess we all can’t get what we want.”
Whether it was your words or the sass in your tone, he finally breaks. With a sudden force, Kai pushes your fists into your own chest, knocking you to the floor. You gasp a little as your head hits the wood, but you have no time to dwell on it as he climbs on top of you, pinning your fists now over your head.
“You want to see me bite, is that it? Don’t think I have it in me because you’ve never seen it for yourself? I can be ruthless, Y/N, I can make you regret-” he pauses, jaw dropping as he realizes you’re giggling.
“Regret what?” You urge. “Were you saying something?”
“You’re playing with fire, Y/N.” His eyes are dark, but not in a way that scares you. Instead, his pupils are dilated so much they look dark. He stares into you desperately, gaze fighting between your lips and your neck, as if unsure where to attack first.
“And yet I’m just a girl, laying under a boy, asking to get burned.”
He doesn’t get the quote. It’s after his time. But the message is clear: you’re under him and you’re not fighting to get up; you provoked him enough just to send him off the edge; you were never really that mad about the pictures or the clothes.
He pauses. Okay, maybe you were a little mad about it. He did go out of his own way to creep across your boundaries. But still… had he not, you would’ve never ended up in this position. You should probably thank him for that.
You swallow, with difficulty because of the way you’re laying, and his eyes drop to the bob in your throat. He snaps out of a daze.
It happens before you know it, his lips on yours. He starts soft, waiting for you to reciprocate, and the moment you do, he gets rougher, more confident, as if this is something he’s always wanted, but he’s so unfamiliar with being able to touch, that he holds back at first.
You’re much less hesitant, though. You offer kindness to him through your words, but you’ve never touched him much, knowing how foreign it is to him. You’ve wanted to give in, to hug and hold him and kiss his cheek before you go to bed, but you were never sure how to bring it up. He’s guarded in his emotions. They’re there, but they’re locked away with a key you haven’t been able to pick. But this, maybe, is the first step.
You’re not sure when you stood up, or if he picked you up, but in a second, you’re off the wood and plopped down on his bed. The pillow beneath you smells like your perfume and you raise an eyebrow at him. He tilts his head again - no comment. He’s kissing you again before you can say anything, effectively distracting you from the whole thing. One hand props himself up over you, while the other lightly grasps your neck. Both of your hands are tangled in his hair, scratching and pulling gently. You break the kiss, out of breath, and he trails his lips down your neck instead. Your back arches instinctively, and a giggle escapes your throat at a sweet spot. In a matter of seconds, he sucks a bruise into your skin before moving down further. Your shirt, very much in the way, is pulled up and off, followed by your shorts. You copy the action, pulling his own off him and immediately letting your hands explore his chest. It’s only fair, you think, considering all the times he’s welcomed himself to the sight of your body.
Distracted, you miss him pulling off your underwear until they’re dangling on one finger in your face. You tilt her own head in confusion, then feel your jaw drop as he throws them in the box.
“Mine.” He winks.
“No! Kai-”
You’re cut off by your own moan, provoked by the feeling of his touch on your bare body. He smiles, clearly pleased with himself, and touches again.
“Those are mine,” you try to argue.
“Are they?”
With a new bite, you lunge forward and surprise him, bringing him pause. You take control for thirty seconds, unbuckling his belt and sliding off his jeans and boxers. A gasp escapes his throat, the cold air hitting his cold, now exposed body, in addition to you seeing him for the first time.
“These are mine then.” You toss his jeans on the floor, but keep his boxers like a prize in your hands.
His look is unimpressed. “You wish.” He tackles you easily, prying the material out of your hands to ball up and throw, laying you back down, crawling over your body, licking his lips, eyeing you like prey. It happens too fast for you to react, and before you know it, you’re forced back into submission, him dominating easily.
“Y’know, for someone not used to touch,” you pant, relishing in the feeling of his lips around your nipple, “you sure seem to know what you’re doing.”
“Instinct, baby.”
“Oh, really?”
He shuts up any further remark by meeting his body to yours, erect cock rubbing against your clit in a way that turns your brain to mush. “Yeah, really.” You don’t fight back this time. “So easy to please,” he mutters, his fingers moving to your clit at the feeling of precum rising up.
“Stop teasing,” you whine, growing desperate.
“Not teasing, princess. Just getting you ready.”
Pressure builds like a coil low in your stomach. You squirm, arching your back and shivering in pleasure, at the same time you mutter, “don’t stop.”
“Don’t move, then, baby.”
You try your hardest to listen, but it’s almost impossible with the way he’s touching you. The long fingers you’ve always admired rubbing in perfect circles. The lust in his eyes as he draws you closer and closer. The wetness on your thigh where his aching cock drips with its own need.
“Kai-” you cry for a second as he stops. He spits on your clit, then laps it up with his tongue, sucking now, while his fingers open you up below. “Fuck.”
“You okay, princess?”
“Mhm,” you nod weakly.
The coil’s so close to snapping. You won’t survive much longer, not with the way his tongue works so beautifully against the sensitive spot, and especially not when he looks up at you from his position, eyes still dark with lust, yet focused, as if this is the most important thing in the world.
“Kai-”
“Mhm?” He asks without detaching. The vibration that it causes is what finally breaks you. With an eager moan, you finally come, the force of it shaking your legs and core. Kai sucks you through it and only lets up when you start begging, “please, please, please, I can’t-”
He ceases, and immediately crashes his lips onto yours, letting you taste yourself in his mouth.
“You okay?” He asks between wet, open-mouthed kisses.
“Mhm.”
“Alright, good girl. Ready?”
“Please.”
Of course he can’t deny you when you ask so politely.
With a deep kiss, he distracts you enough to push in. You take him well until you’re almost full, gasping into his mouth and sinking into the mattress. You squirm a bit more, body reacting to the sudden intrusion, but settle around him soon enough.
“We’re good?”
“Good.”
“Let me know if you need to stop.”
He starts slowly, pulling out a little ways and pushing back in, kissing you sweetly as he does. But then as your body adjusts and clenches around him, he picks up the pace to an even speed. His mouth drops from your lips to your neck, sucking more bruises into your delicate skin. You keep your hands tangled in his hair, pulling, grasping, moaning more as the pressure starts to build again.
“Y’know,” you stutter, trying to speak as he thrusts. “Making me come once isn’t going to make up for you stealing my underwear.”
You can feel his smile grow against your skin. “Oh really?” He presses a kiss to your neck. “How about twice? Three times? Four?”
The color drains from your face at the thought of coming four times in one day. You really need to learn to stop challenging him. “I-”
“Yeah, four sounds good. Let’s try for that.”
He has slowed down a little to make conversation, but as soon as his mind is made, he picks his pace back up. His troublemaking smirk stares into you, waiting to see if you’ll challenge him again, then falls back on your neck once he sees he’s won.
In the end, Kai holds true to his promise and coaxes three more orgasms out of you before his hips stutter. He pulls out and releases on your stomach, panting hard. You lay beside each other, completely exhausted and overstimulated, until he finally drags you up and into the bathroom. In a way, you do win, because he dresses you in his own clothes - boxers and a hoodie - before pulling you downstairs with him. You’re still determined to get your clothes back somehow, but as your eyes flutter sleepily still, you decide to table that for another day.
That evening, when you settle down for your usual nightly movie, you find yourself laying against his chest with his arm around your waist. He seems more relaxed than you’ve ever seen him, and the noticeable difference makes you smile.
“If you wanted to touch me, you could’ve just asked,” you half-tease.
“Hm.”
“I like you, too, y’know.” He finally looks away from the tv, eyes dropping to you instead. “Way before all of this. I’ve had a crush on you for ages.”
“Why didn’t you say anything?”
“Fear of losing you?” You shrug. “Not only are we the only people here, but… you’re also the only person I’ve felt ever close to in my life. I didn’t want to do something that would make you uncomfortable, or make you hate me.”
“I could never hate you,” he admits. He presses a gentle kiss to your lips. “And I think I’m the one who crossed the ‘uncomfortable’ boundary.”
You laugh. “Yeah, you did. You crossed a very big boundary.” You tilt your head and run your tongue across your lips. “But… it doesn’t make me uncomfortable with you. Nor angry. Maybe in the moment, but certainly not now. Actually… it’s kinda hot, now that I think about it.”
Despite his passing nervousness, he can’t help but laugh. “I did say you’d be playing with fire.”
“Guess I should’ve headed the warning.”
You curl closer into him, adoring the way he responds so quickly, running a hand through your hair and dancing his fingers on your skin. It’s easier than ever to relax around him. Right now, this prison world feels like anything but a prison.
~~~~~~~~~~
In the night, you sneak into his room, polaroid in hand. It’s rather easy, the lock is gone now and his door is cracked open, practically inviting you in. You tiptoe up to his bed, focusing the camera on Kai’s shirtless form and snap a quick photo, snickering to yourself. But then, as the old machine whirrs in action, your target opens an eye. You back up, glancing between the boy in the bed and the door. He groans, laughing on the tail end of the tired sound.
“Whatcha doing?”
“Karma, baby.”
“Mhm, good try.” He eyes you in a way that sends a shiver up your spine. “Y’know… the way I got so many of you is because I was quiet.”
“Uh-” You look at the door again - big mistake. The moment your eyes are off him, his arms around your waist. “Ah, Kai!” You screech, head hitting his pillow for the second time that day.
He positions himself on top of you, practically sitting on you, and takes the camera from your hands. “Tip number one, snap the picture and leave before the camera starts to sputter.” He sets it on the nightstand. “Tip number two, stalk someone who’s a little less obsessed with you. That way, they might not be able to hear your every move.” Before you can reply, he’s kissing you again, with as much passion as he had only hours ago.
Azriel landed on lawn near entrance of the River House. It was already dark, but night was warm and smelled of cool river that flew behind the house and sweet magnolia. The smell of roast meat and apple pie wafted from the open kitchen window, reminding him that he hadn't eaten from the morning, and mixed with the smell of coming summer.
Trying to look at least a bit presentable, he ran his fingers through thick dark hair, brushing it back. The shadows already informed him that there's an unknown face in the house. He was exhausted and not in mood to meet someone new, but he already promised he would come for the dinner and the game night his family had every Friday.
Sighing heavily, he slipped into the building like a ghost, unnoticed. Everyone seemed to be already gathered in the dinning room, sounds of conversation and laughter echoed in otherwise quiet house. A paper bag from his favourite bookstore left in the entrance hall immediately caught his attention. As a spymaster he couldn't help it and peeked in. The familiar covers of books he had read, aroused his interest. Azriel assumed that the bag had to belong to the guest because his family usually didn't leave their stuff by doors. This piqued his interest in the mysterious newcomer.
He checked his face in the mirror, correcting his posture and glamouring the dark circles under his eyes. If possible, he wanted to avoid any questions about his wellbeing or comments full of worry. He already felt like shit and didn't want to dwell on it. He suddenly noticed the absence of his usual companions who loved to inform him about any insignificant details. Looking down the hallway, he found them peeking into the dinning room, pushing each other to get a better view.
He just rolled his eyes and got ready for the welcoming and his least favourite part - introduction.
His long legs quietly carried him to the threshold of the room. Everyone was already seated around the big table that buckled under the delicious-looking dishes, undoubtedly the work of the middle Archeron sister who smiling sat next to her mate. Azriel frowned at the sight. Nobody told him that Lucien was invited, too.
Rhysand, sitting at the head of the table, noticed him as first.
"Ah, finally here," he greeted him with his usual cocky grin. "We've been waiting for you."
"You could have started without me," Azriel retorted and quickly walked over to the only empty seat. He hated to be in the center of attention.
"When did you return? I didn't hear you go to your room," Cassian bawled from the other side of table.
"I found what I looked for this morning, but I had work to do in Hewn City." He didn't need to add more details. His friends already knew what kind of job he did there. Azriel's insides twisted at the memory, but he buried that feeling deep inside where no one could see it.
"By the way, Helion thanks you for the help," he turned to Rhysand who only nodded.
"I'll write him later. How did it go?"
Before Azriel could say anything, Feyre sighed at Rhys' side. "Boys, could you forget about the work at least for a moment? We have a guest tonight."
"Sure, Feyre darling," Rhys smiled at her and caressed her cheek. "I'm sorry. We'll discuss the details later."
"Azriel, let me introduce you my friend from Rainbow and fellow artist, Blaire. She came from Autumn court not so long ago and currently, she's slowly settling in our city and her new life."
Azriel looked to his left, in the direction Feyre showed. To his shame, he was in such hurry to get rid of all the prying eyes that he hadn't noticed that the unknown female sat right beside him.
He tried to smile down at small female with long dark brown hair. "Nice to meet you."
"Nice to meet you, too, Azriel," she looked up at him with a shy but kind smile. He blinked in surprise. It was the same female he just met in the bookstore.
"Do you know each other?" Feyre's smile grew, noticing their surprised faces.
"Yes-.. Well, no," he mumbled.
"We met by chance in the bookstore today. I wasn't paying attention, tripped and bumped into him, yet he was so kind that he helped me gather the books that I dropped," Blaire explained. A lovely blush spread on her cheeks. "Again, I'm really sorry for that," she turned to him.
"No, it was my mistake. I was taking too much space in the aisle. I apologise."
"Interesting," Rhysand and Cassian said at the same time, watching the two of them with all-knowing grins.
Assholes, Azriel mouthed.
The shadows peeked from beneath the table, interested in the newcomer. Blaire noticed the movement and looked down. Azriel carefully watched her reaction, expecting her to freak out as most of people did when they found out the shadows could move on their own.
"Hey there," she whispered, eyeing them with interest. The shadows vibrated at the greeting and flew closer, curiously swirling around her, touching her arms, legs and hair. Blaire giggled, hiding it in her palm.
"My apologies," Azriel mumbled. "They are very curious beings and don't really respect personal space. Not even mine."
"It's okay," she answered, her fingers playing with cool tendrils.
Azriel's corners of the mouth twitched in a small genuine smile. Her reaction was refreshing. He finally relaxed into the chair, a bit stretching out his wings that he had held rigidly tugged to his back whole the time.
The dinner went smoothly, the light conversation over the meal was very pleasant and interesting. Azriel found himself listening carefully whenever someone asked something Blaire, eager to learn more about her. He'd like to blame it on an occupational disease, but it was just his natural interest in an attractive female.
He was so busy keeping an eye on her that he didn't even notice the cold glare Mor was sending their way all the evening. She didn't speak much nor ate, yet her glass needed to be refilled quite often.
After eating delicious meal everyone walked over to the sitting room were the conversation continued. However, it was Friday and as every Friday his friends took out their usual favourite games.
Bat boys sat down around small round table with cards and cheered by the females, they played as passionately and ruthlessly as only they could. Azriel got completely carried away by the game and his excessive competitiveness, and for a moment he forgot about everything that bothered him. He really enjoyed it.
After losing several times, Cassian grumbling gave the game up, wanting to play something he couldn't lose at. And so he took out the bottle.
The whole group gathered on sofas in front of the fireplace. This time everyone played. Well, almost everyone. Elain and Lucien moved to the corner of the room, quietly talking about something. Azriel watched them for a while, ire twisting his guts. He emptied his glass in one go.
"Easy," Rhysand whispered as he refilled his glass.
Azriel narrowed eyes at him. If he could, he would rather leave than to torture himself like this. When his gaze again moved to the couple, he couldn't see them anymore. Instead, Blaire with her soft smile sat opposite him, obscuring the view. In the heat of the game, he had almost forgotten she was there. She was quite quiet most of the time, looking rather shy, mostly talking only with Feyre. She didn't look like really wanting to play this kind of game, but Feyre had convinced her.
Cassian, seated next to his mate, spun the empty wine bottle and took a big gulp from his glass.
"Okay, guys, let's play," he growled, clapping his hands. This was his favourite game ever since Azriel knew him.
The bottle stopped, pointing to Mor who seemed to be already quite drunken, swaying from side to side even while sitting.
"Truth or dare?" Cassian grinned. Hot topics were his speciality and reason why he liked this game so much.
"Truth," Mor drank gulp of wine.
"Great! So.. are you dating someone now?"
Mor frowned at him, pouting. That was something she visibly didn't want to answer. For a moment, her eyes fell to Azriel sitting next to Cassian and something inside him stirred.
It wasn't so long since she finally told him that he had no chance with her as she prefered females. He accepted it more calmly than he actually felt and made peace with it. Though, it was hard get over the feelings and hopes he held on for so long. All the pain and longing that tortured him for centuries, was still there. A bit duller than months ago, but still too fresh. He wondered what was so bad about him, what he had done to be undeserving of love. Seeing so many happy couples around him, he wanted nothing more but to have someone who would accept his heart and return the feelings sincerely.
Holding breath, he looked down at his feet and emptied another glass. He didn't want to think about that now.
"I want dare then," Mor announced at last.
"So kiss Cassian," Amren barked before Cassian could open his mouth. Her silver eyes were at Nesta, cold and cruel.
Azriel in disbelief gaped at small female. His mate was literally sitting next to him, yet she dared Mor of all people to kiss him. By the murderous angry gazes two females were exchanging, Azriel could easily guess that they were again at each other's throat because of something that had happened while he was on the mission.
Blaire was eyeing them all in confusion. He felt sorry for her. This definitely wasn't the best first impression. He wouldn't be surprised if she never accepted invitation to dinner again. Feyre seemed to be of the very same opinion. She excused herself and went to the kitchen to prepare desserts, glaring at those four fools.
"Fine," Mor stood up on unsteady legs.
Cassian obviously hadn't noticed the mood in the room and grinning jumped up. Azriel turned away, not wanting to witness the kiss, neither Nesta's reaction. Despite everything, he liked Nesta. She earned his respect and he considered her his good friend. This was a real blow below the belt that she didn't deserve.
Next, Mor spun the bottle. Azriel watched it, his jaw clenched. He wished that the bottle fell off the table and broke into pieces to end this stupid game. Instead, it stopped, pointing to Blaire who nervously winced.
Mor raised a brow at her.
"Truth or dare?" Cassian asked excitedly. He was apparently the only one enjoying this.
"Well," she cleared her throat shyly. "The truth."
Mor grinned drunkenly. The shiver ran down Azriel's spine at the sight, already sensing some really unpleasant question coming.
"How many males have you slept with?"
Azriel froze on the spot. That really wasn't question for a female who just flet from Autumn Court and from the ridiculous rules she had to follow her entire life, and they all knew it very well, including Morrigan.
Blaire paled and then blushed, her soft green eyes wide open.
"You don't have to answer, dear," Rhysand assured her gently. "We all know that giving such questions to guests is inappropriate, right?" He turned his violet gaze to his cousin, the anger radiating from him. Even though he was quiet ever since the game had started, Azriel felt his cold rage rising like a tide with every minute.
"Oh, Rhys, don't spoil the game," Cassian sighed. "You can choose dare instead." He winked at fiercely blushing Blaire. She hesitantly nodded.
Morrigan gritted her teeth. Her drunken gaze jumped from Blaire to Azriel who couldn't take his eyes off of the female, ready to protect her if necessary.
"Kiss him," she pointed at Azriel.
Azriel's eyes shot to his ex long-term love interest in disbelief. It was as eyes-opening situation as a punch to the guts and he couldn't believe he hadn't noticed sooner what kind of person she was in real. How could he fall in love with someone so cruel who played with people and their feelings like with chess pieces? It shocked him so much that he hardly heard when Blaire excused herself and went looking for toilet.
Rhysand waited until she left out of earshot. "What. The. Fuck. Is wrong with all of you today?!"
The room fell silent, no one dared to even breath.
"She's Feyre's friend. What does she think about us now? Did you listen when Feyre warned you that she's from Autumn Court? That she had to run away from her home, so she could start to live anew and on her own terms? That girl has serious trauma. And you?! You really disappointed me today."
"You are right, Rhys," Cassian mumbled, scratching his beard. "Playing this game was really stupid idea. I'm sorry."
"Don't expect me to apologise. I have nothing to be sorry for," Morrigan grunted.
Azriel saw red for a second. He had enough for tonight. "Unbelievable," he growled. "I'm off."
With that he stood up and before anyone could say a word, he left.
Blaire was on verge of crying. She needed time to breath it out.
She really loved Feyre and was so grateful for everything she had done for her ever since Blaire came to this Court. When Feyre invited her to the dinner at her house to meet her family, Blaire was hesitant at first. However, sitting at the table she was glad she accepted the invitation. The dinner was delicious and Feyre's family seemed to be so nice and kind.
When the mysterious and handsome male who was so kind to her at bookstore, appeared on threshold.. well.. She was really excited. He was gloomy and looked kind of dangerous, but he radiated a strange aura of calm and peace that attracted her. He hadn't spoken much during the dinner, but she felt good sitting beside him.
The game evening hadn't started so bad too. It was kind of exciting to watch three males play cards. They were so serious about it that it was funny. Azriel seemed to completely relax during the game and she could secretly watch him. He was so interesting person. She already thought so when they briefly talked in the bookstore and now even more after getting to know him little better.
However, when they started to play the other game, they all changed all of sudden. Kissing male who was mated, was quite unthinkable for Blaire, as well as accepting such kiss. At that moment she wasn't sure what to think about them.
And when they asked her that question.. It was really uncomfortable and she felt as if she did something bad and somehow offended the blonde. The kiss dare was the last straw and she needed to leave.
Blaire was walking down the hallway, completely lost. Feyre showed her direction to the toilet when she arrived, but she was upset now and must have mistaken somewhere along the way. She turned the corner and got yet to another hallway with several doors. She wasn't sure what to do, so she tried the first doors on the left.
The room was dark, but she could make out an outlines of a large bed. She panicked and was about to again close the doors when she noticed shelves full of books. She hesitated. At last, she decided that it couldn't hurt if she took a look. She turned on lamp in the corner of the room and closed the doors.
The room faintly smelled of cedar and night-chilled mist. It was quite pleasant and calming scent. Her eyes wandered over the countless spines of the books, until she found one that caught her attention. It was the book she had bought earlier and now it was waiting for her in the bag at foyer. She couldn't resist and started reading.
She was so immersed in the story that she didn't hear the doors opened and closed.
"That one is good."
Blaire was startled, almost dropping the book. She pivoted and was met with piercing hazel eyes that in the soft light of the lamp looked golden-brown, like warm honey.
"I-I'm sorry.. I was looking for toilet.." she stuttered.
"And instead you found my room," Azriel smirked and one lovely dimple appeared. "What do you say to that?"
She gaped at him in terror. He was so tall that it was intimidating. He was leaning against the frame of door, hands crossed on his broad chest, a few dark strands falling to his eyes. His expression was unreadable.
When she didn't answer, he nodded to the book in her hands. "Do you like it?"
Ashamed she looked down at the book and then back up at him. "Y-yes, it's interesting."
Azriel just smiled and stepped closer. The smell of cedar and night-chilled mist became stronger. Blaire inhaled deeply, completely enchanted. He was too handsome and charming.
Head slightly tilted to the side, Azriel watched her carefully, searching her face. An enormous wings behind him rustled softly. His chest was heaving with quick breaths, full lips lightly parted.
Something cold brushed against her back and hands, snapping her out of the trance. "I-I'm sorry. I shouldn't have gone inside and touched your things. It was really rude of me."
"I don't mind," he chuckled.
His long fingers wrapped around the book, gently touching hers. When she didn't pull away, they travelled to her wrist, thumbs drawing circles over her pulse points. Holding her gaze, he slowly bent down. His hot breath fanned over her face.
Gods, he was so handsome. Blaire's heart was hammering in her chest, her body shivering with pleasure. Combination of his look and personality should be illegal. She was drawn to him like a flower to the sun. At this moment, she would gladly allow him to do to her whatever he wanted. Just him standing so close to her, touching her hands, made her feel more alive than ever. The enchantment changed into sweet pain that grew between her thighs.
"Are we still playing?" he asked with lips mere inches from hers, his voice hoarse.
Blaire blinked once, then twice. She suddenly sobered up. Realizing how much she was leaning into him, pushing him to the wall, she blushed. As if it wasn't enough that she invaded his private bedroom and touched his stuff.
"I'm so sorry," ashamed she ran away, leaving heaving Azriel with book in hand behind.
Blaire seemed to leave the house in haste that night. He didn't know whether she told her something, but when Feyre learnt how Morrigan treated her friend, she was mad. Azriel hoped she would mention her friend or try to bring her over one more time. Though, after what had happened last time, she most likely wouldn't come again.
Azriel couldn't forget that short moment in his room that he shared with Blaire. He was so close to kissing her. Her sweet scent lingered in his bedroom for days and he stayed there until it completely faded away. Then he returned to the House of Wind instantly feeling sorry for his choice. After the game night, everything was messed up and atmosphere in the House was suffocating at best.
Week passed without Blaire's name being mentioned again. Azriel grew restless. He still could feel her soft skin and rapid pulse. And those eyes and smile. He wanted to see her again even if only to apologise for scaring her away. That night he really hoped he could at least kiss her and ask her out. After all, mentioning that stupid game was bad idea. Maybe if he didn't, she wouldn't run from him and things would be different now.
She seemed to be attracted to him, too. No doubt there was a spark between them. He clearly felt it. He needed to meet her again to find out whether the spark could become a flame.
After thinking it over and over again, he decided to visit Feyre in her studio.
It was nice, sunny day and Rainbow was just as vivid as always. A pleasant melody flowed through the street, artists pulled out their easels and painted on the street. The sounds of laughter could be heard from everywhere, children ran among the people on a walk.
Azriel landed in front of Feyre's studio and after looking around for a while, he entered. She immediately looked up from her newest project and smiled.
"Oh, it's you. Everything alright?"
"Yeah, I suppose," he mumbled, not sure how to turn the conversation to the reason of his visit. He had prepared a speech, imagining the whole situation, but now when he was standing in front of her, it didn't seem to be such a brilliant idea as he originally thought. He felt awkward.
"Hmm, Az, I meant to say this sooner," Feyre put down the brush and wiping her hands, she fully turned to him. "I want to thank you for.. the way you treated Blaire before. You were probably the only one who bothered to behave normally and she said that she is glad she could meet you. She seems to like especially the chat about books, you two had, even though I'm not sure when it happened."
Azriel was stunned. Blaire really mentioned him? He'd like to know what exactly she said about him.
"Uhm, that was nothing," he shrugged. "I'm glad I met her, too.."
He felt the heat slowly spreading to his cheeks and turned around, pretending that he admired the paintings on the wall.
Feyre watched him with a small smile. "You like her, right? I noticed it during the dinner."
Azriel froze on the spot.
"No.. What?! I mean, yeah.. No!" he babbled, blushing more and more. He bit on his tongue and took a deep breath. When he calmed down he tried it again. "What I mean is that she is quite interesting and I'd like to talk to her again if I had the chance."
"I see," Feyre chuckled. "You seem to be a bit flustered today. Maybe a cup of tea in some nice cafe would make you feel better."
Azriel pivoted, brows raised. When he saw her expression, he understood.
"Maybe I should give it a try," he smirked. He bid her a goodbye and went out, blending in with the crowd on the street.
There was one lovely cafe at the opposite end of the street. It was in a quite quiet neighbourhood and one of the places Azriel liked to visit from time to time.
As soon as he opened the door, staff greeted him with smile and immediately prepared the tea he usually drank there. He took the cup and looked around. The inside of the cafe was spacious and cosy with tables set far enough apart that he didn't have to pay attention when walking between them. As usual, there were some customers, but it wasn't crowded. One of many reasons he liked this shop.
In the opposite corner he spotted the person he was looking for. Without hesitation he headed to her table.
Blaire was seated on chair facing the window, immersed in the book he recognised right away. The steam rose from the cup placed on the table in front of her, sweet scent of fruit tea surrounding her.
"We meet again," he murmured with genuine smile.
Her green eyes shot up to him, surprised.
"I- Nice to see you again," she blushed and made space for him.
He sat down, noting her progress with the book. "Have you already gotten to the part where he finally tells her the truth?"
She shook her head. "What kind of truth is it?"
"I won't spoil the surprise," he snorted.
"How cruel of you," she sipped from her cup of tea, hiding the blush in steam.
"I hoped to see you again," he watched her carefully. "I wanted to apologise."
"It's strange," she bit on her bottom lip. "I wanted to apologise to you, too. You know.. For invading your privacy and.." She hid her face behind the veil of her long hair.
Azriel reached out and taking her chin between fingers made her look at him. He wanted to see her face properly. "Don't. I quite liked that part."
Her eyes widened.
"Ever since I met you, I can't get you out of my head, Blaire," he purred lowly, watching with pleasure as she shivered and closed her eyes when he said her name. That was exactly the reaction he hoped for. He licked his lips. "There's a place I'd like to show you. Would you go with me?"
She considered his offer for a moment and then nodded. He helped her put her things to the bag and holding her hand led her from the shop. As soon as the narrow alley widened into a street, he picked her up and dashed to the sky.
Blaire couldn't believe what just happened.
After her shameful behaviour and run from his room, she was convinced that Azriel didn't want to even hear about her again. The day she came to terms with the thought that she would probably never meet him again, he appeared in her favourite cafe and came to her table. It was unbelievable.
Hearing him utter her name for the first time in the deep voice of his shattered her soul into pieces, and her heart melted into a puddle. She had no reason to believe him, they basically spoke only very briefly, but she knew he wouldn't hurt her. He wasn't like males of Autumn Court. He didn't treat her like a nuisance, like someone inferior. His calm and quiet nature was like a balm, the promise of peace. That was why she agreed to go with him so easily.
Flying with him was another exciting experience. Despite of keeping her so close, he carried her with respect. He wasn't trying to touch her in any inappropriate way, yet he held her firmly all the time. Being scared of heights, Blaire spent most of it with her face buried in his shoulder. However, his comments on the changing surrounding were too tempting and she dared to look down once or twice.
When they landed he put her down, steadying her until he was sure that she could stand on her own. Blaire looked around. They were in the middle of a forest, no living creature and no buildings in the sight. She swallowed hard, starting to doubt her decision.
Azriel just chuckled, walking down the path. "This way."
She followed him, biting on her bottom lip nervously. "Where are you taking me to?"
"You'll see soon." He seemed to be in quite a good mood. He even started to hum some nice melody lowly.
They walked for few minutes when the trees finally parted and they found themselves on the shore of a mountain lake, surrounded by tall trees and high mountains. A gentle breeze lightly caressed the surface of the otherwise calm lake, creating small waves. The sky above them was clear, the most most beautiful shade of blue with a few fluffy clouds flying high above their heads. The fresh air filled Blaire's lungs while the singing of the birds and rustling of leaves in the treetops caressed her senses.
And in the middle of that stood Azriel with his wings slightly stretched out, tall, powerful and unearthly beautiful. The light breeze was playing with strands of his dark hair and hem of his T-shirt. His face was calm and posture relaxed, his eyes shone like liquid gold. The shadows that followed him on every step, were dancing around his ankles, calling her closer.
Blaire wished she had paper and pencil with her to capture this unique moment.
"Here we are," Azriel smiled brightly. "This is my favourite place. When I feel bad and need to think about things in peace, I like to come here." He looked at her out of the corner of the eye, waiting for her reaction.
However, Blaire was stunned, completely speechless. She could only stand there, admiring the view. Her eyes lingered on small details, committing them to the memory, so she would be able to draw this later.
"You don't like it?" he hid his face, turning away.
Blaire opened mouth, looking for the right words and her lost voice. "I love it. It's so.. perfect."
Azriel breathed out in relief and walking to the lake, he took off his shirt and then even shoes and trousers.
Blaire knew that she shouldn't gaze at him, but she couldn't take her eyes off of him. His body was a masterpiece, showing off even the muscles she didn't know that existed. Dark lines of tattoos swirled around his shoulders, curling across his chest and back, creating complex patterns. She wondered what's the meaning of them.
Meanwhile Azriel plunged into the water and began swimming toward the middle of the lake.
"Why don't you join me?" he called back. "Water isn't so cold. It's refreshing."
Blaire blushed, wrapping arms around her chest.
"I-I don't have a swimwear with me," she called.
Azriel stopped and turned to her, thinking. "You can use my T-shirt if you want. I won't look, I promise."
Blaire looked down at clothes he left on the grass. To be honest, she wanted to swim with him even though she wasn't a good swimmer. It took her only a moment to decide.
"Fine, so.. don't look, please."
He smiled and turned his back to her. She picked up his T-shirt and quickly changed. There were cuts on the back for his wings and overall it was so big that it looked like a dress on her, falling all the way down to her knees.
"Done," she called shyly.
Azriel again turned to her, swimming closer. His eyes little darkened as he took her form in.
"It suits you better than me. You should keep it," one corner of his mouth stretched into one-sided smile. "Come."
Blaire carefully stepped into water and slightly trembled when cool liquid licked her ankles. "It's a bit cold."
"Only at the beginning. Once you dip in and start to move, it's fine."
Slowly she swam closer to him, hardly holding her head above surface.
"I'm not good swimmer," she admitted, when he grabbed her elbows, helping her.
"It's easy. Try to lay down on the water. I'm here, no worry."
Hesitantly, she did as he said, his big warm palms under her back and thighs.
"That's it. And now relax and let yourself be carried away."
"How?"
"Don't think about it much. Just.. let it happen."
Blaire took deep breath and relaxed, clearing her mind. Before she knew it, she was floating in the water.
"See? Easy," Azriel smiled, gently caressing her cheek.
Blaire opened eyes just to find him holding both hands up. She panicked and dipped below the surface for a moment.
"Carefully," he again grabbed her elbows, pulling her closer.
They gazed at each other, their bodies slightly touching under the water.
"Thank you," Blaire breathed out, mesmerized by his dimly shining eyes.
"I did nothing," his cheeks turned pink, his gaze switching between her eyes and mouth.
Hesitantly he pulled her even closer and she welcomed it. Their chests were brushing with every breath, the wet thin fabric creating no barrier between them. Blaire rested her hands on his shoulders, lightly holding on him and his warm palms slid down to her hips. Now there was only an inch between their lips, the tension growing.
"If you don't want it, say something or I.."
"Kiss me already," she whispered out of breath.
His plush lips crashed into hers. Azriel stayed like that for a single heartbeat and then with a small moan he started to move. His kiss was sweet and gentle, but Blaire didn't want him to be gentle. Entwining fingers with his silky dark strands, she lightly pulled on them. A growl vibrated through his chest and he submitted, deepening the kiss. He tugged her to his strong chest and she moaned when their hard and soft parts met. The moment her lips parted, he lashed forward. His tongue slipped into her mouth, exploring and caressing. He kissed her hungrily, his hands sliding up and down her body, caressing and squeezing.
She didn't notice that she was unknowingly pushing him under the water, but he didn't seem to mind it at slightest, not until they both ran out of air. Heaving they emerged, splashing the water all around.
"That.. was interesting," Azriel panted.
"Yeah, very," Blaire agreed still out of breath.
"But maybe it would be better without the water next time."
"Definitely," she agreed and they started to laugh.
Azriel x reader - In Between part III
Part I, part II, part IV
Summary: after the disastrous family dinner, you started to get yourself up again by going on dates with a guy working in your coffee shop. But what happens when, by denying your irresponsible acts, you start to hurt your friend
Warning: angst, toxic guy, denial, so much denial, kinda rude Lucien, mean and rude reader, hurt, smut if you squint, and allusion to slut, anxiety, overthinking, regret, lots of regret. Not proofread, my English.
Note: sorryyyyyy for the angst babes but I promise the next part will be *chef kiss*. Love you all ! Thanks again for the love, the support and above all the understanding of my pause 💗💗💗
Also I wanted to say that i move when you react by reblogging or commenting it makes my days !!!
The ring of the coffee shop you worked in, pulled you out of your well deserved dream. Since you started working again, you sunk again in the meanness and the rudeness of the many customers that came in and almost insulted you ordering their coffee.
What you didn't expect was that it was Feyre, your High Lady who came in. You stilled, back high in your position, your eyes wide open. Her eyes scanned the small and cozy room and brightened when they found your frozen figure. She smiled brightly at you and you felt like you were looking at the sun. She approached the counter and said:
"Hello you !
-High Lady." You bowed your head. She pouted.
"I thought I already told you not to call me that. I'm Feyre to you.
-Right, sorry Hi-Feyre.
- Don't apologize". Her smile returned to her beautiful face. Awkward you asked her:
"So what do you want on the menu.. I have a few favorites if you want advice."
You wondered why did she come in your coffee shop where as there were many that were way more luxurious.
"Oh I didn't want anything, I wanted to see you.
-Me ? But-
- Yes you, I didn't particularly wanted to talk to the wall behind you".
You chuckled at your nervousness.
"I, again, apologize for the mean and completely undeserved behaviour of my sister a few days ago".
The sun of her face was instantly replaced by dense and grey clouds as remembering this bad memory.
"Don't worry really ! It's not your fault, you should not feel guilty about something you haven't done. You haven't been anything but nice and kind to me when I arrived at your private home, kinda inviting the space and the calm of your family.
-No no no ! I feel like you help Lucien a lot, and since he got here it was difficult to talk through what happened to us but I really care about him you know, so I feel delighted to know that someone else does too. And I liked you since I saw you so I wanted to know you!
-It means a lot to me Feyre, really, I liked you too, you're an incredible woman."
She put a hand on her heart, her sea eyes full of emotions and love.
"Well maybe I'll trust you and order something. Get me your favorite!"
You smiled at her and prepared her order, she paid you way more than needed and left after waving goodbye and promising to return to see you maybe with Nyx.
Even serving mean customers, your day had been way better since Feyre came in to say hello. As you were closing the shop, Aaron, the brown haired guy who worked with you was waiting for someone outside. You started walking on the street to your appartment he came to you blushing.
"Hey yn? He asked awkwardly.
-Yes ? You turned to him questioning.
-You know, from a very long time I think you're really kind, and smart and pretty. And I wanted to ask you three weeks ago but you stopped working so it's now or never. I'd really want to go to dinner with you if you'd like.
-Oh my gods that's really kind of you ! Why not ? When do you want to go ?
-Are you free tonight I know a nice restaurant down the street ? He asked relieved from your former response.
-Yes let's go ! I didn't know it before but it seems really nice."
Your walk to the dinner was filled with laughter et joy. It's atmosphere was warm and cozy, just what you needed. You both ate in a comforting silence and he walked you back home.
"I just want to make myself clear. He said hesitantly. Tonight was a date, for me, I like you a lot so..
-Don't worry, it was one for me as well, I've really enjoyed it, it was a nice evening thank you for paying by the way.
-No problem. Then, since we both agree on that, what would you say about another one in 2 or 3 days?
-Yes I would appreciate that ! We'll organise that tomorrow though because I'm really tired now and all I want is to jump under my covers.
-Yeah of course.. yeah see ya !" He kissed you on the corner of your lips and you saw him shrink as walked the down the fairy lit street of Velaris.
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
The days at work were now so much more joyful and you appreciated it a lot. Your coffee guy and you had been on 4 dates lately and you had one again tonight at the same restaurant. You were disappointed in the fact that you both did exactly the same things as dates but he was nice so you brushed it off. You haven't told anything to Lucien yet, and you could bet that he had guessed because of the suspicious looks he gave you when you would go to work. The bell rang again and Feyre came in for third time in the week. She had been coming with Nyx lately, today was an exception, because he seemed to like you, even to be enamoured with you. That's what Feyre had said. You loved him too, he was so small and so cute with his cheeks burning red everytime you would come up to him and kiss him on the nose or the forehead. You brightly smiled at her but she seemed a bit off today. You frowned a little and when she arrived at the counter you took her and led her to a more private table. You could see she was thankful thanks to her beaming eyes.
"What's happening Fey?"
You had a thing with nicknames, it was your own love language. Everytime you would meet someone new, and that you liked them of course, they would end up with a nickname of yours, even your high lady.
"Well, Rhys and I are really really tired because of the parenthood and we haven't had time for ourselves, I mean our relationship lately. Plus with the tiredness, we argued this morning and said bad things that we didn't mean but nobody apologized for now. And I would've liked if Rhys and I could go to a 3 days maybe 2, vacation at the cabin to rest and enjoy eachother a little...
-Do you want me to babysit Nyx ? You cut her off and she seemed embarrassed to ask you that.
-Well, I know we've been friends just for a short period of time but Nyx only wants you to babysit him, we've tried everyone but he can't seem to stop crying or asking you if you aren't the one to keep an eye on him. I'm really sorry yn.
-Hey Fey, don't worry really. You brushed an arm on her shoulder to ease her tension. I asked because I wanted to offer my help, there's no need to be embarrassed, of course I will stay with this little demon. And you know, even if it's not since a long time, I value and cherish a lot our blooming friendship."
She hugged you tightly and you did as well.
"Also, enjoy Rhys and don't worry you can even go one week if you want. But do you mind if on the morning I come here with Nyx, unfortunately I can't stop work.
-Really ? Oh my gods you really are the bestest friend!! And yes he loves your coffee shop anyway. Are you free to start tonight ?"
You nodded and she hugged you goodbye and stormed off the shop surely to inform Rhys, a big smile on her beautiful face.
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
The day at the shop had been quite calm and relaxing, on the contrary of usual. You had cancelled your date and he seemed a bit mad, but you understood so you brushed it off. You were walking to the townhouse now, listening to the lovely music of the talented artists of the rainbow. As you walked through the door, Rhys came at you, eyes thankful as ever, and hugged you saying that it meant a lot to him and that you were helping him with his relationship and he was so grateful for that. You reassured him and after discussing with Fey she led you to the little Lord of the night who was playing with a giant figure that seemed way too familiar to you to be at ease, before running into your arms and screaming your name. The figure flinched and stilled before beautiful Hazel eyes sunk into yours and you lost yourself in the beauty of the male sat before you. Azriel. He was there, playing with Nyx and his toys and you were hugging back Nyx, hung on your legs. Feyre quickly hugged you goodbye and vanished away when her and Rhys windowed straight to the cabin. You couldn't move, you were frozen on your feet but Nyx pulled you sat in front of Azriel.
"Let's play with my favorite aunt and uncle !"
He was so oblivious to what was going on between you and Azriel, so innocent. It was kinda cute but you couldn't think of that I that moment.
"He wanted me to stay but not without you, I'm sorry if I make you feel awkward. Azriel explained, eyes filled with genuine apologies.
-Dont worry, he's the little king after all, he gets to decide."
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
On the contrary of what you had expected, Azriel, Nyx and you had had a very good week. Azriel and you were really organized: while you were working he would take Nyx out flying and is he had reports or little missions to do you would take the little Lord to the coffee shop and under the hard gaze of your coffee guy, Azriel would come pick you both up. The night you would both play, read and then put Nyx in bed with a kiss. After the conversation was not awkward at all, you discussed a little bit of everything in your life: Azriel had told you the story behind the siphons he had and the Carynthian trial, what a fool you were asking him the first time where you could buy them. And you told Azriel the story behind the library coffee shop you held, the fact that being a girl you weren't given the chance to read and always admired the beautiful books in a library or a bookshop, so you decided to allow people who couldn't afford books to read, especially if they loved it. You talked and talked and laughed, but never ever has the infamous subject been approached. But it was better this way, to move on and everything.
Tonight was the last night with Nyx and after a flying time, a picnic near the Sidra, and a 3 scoops ice scream on the way back home, Nyx was now in his pajamas and ready to go to sleep after a big day of activities. But he wouldn't manage sleeping if you weren't in bed with him pretending to sleep as well.
That's the reason why you found yourself tangled on the couch with Azriel, an almost sleeping Nyx on your lap while the former was reading him a story. Gods that voice of his ! It was so attractive.. how could you move on to that ?? You were almost eye fucking him at this point. But in effort to not make a fool of yourself, you closes your eyes and tried to relax a little. But what you didn't expect was to fall asleep with his voice, which he didn't expect too. He found himself with Nyx and the beautiful female he would like to call his asleep on him. Oh gods he was panicking. He didn't really realise you were asleep on him. YOU WERE SLEEPING ON HIM !!! Azriel was trying to catch his breath to no wake you up but it was difficult knowing that you laid on his chest, holding tightly his shirt, clearly a sleeping beauty. So he relaxed himself as well and fell asleep too.
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
You felt sunlight peak through your eyes closed but they felt too heavy to open them and wake up. Plus you were so comfortable, it was warm and there was tight arms hugging your waist and chest.
But around 5 minutes later, your mind found consciousness again when you hear little giggles coming from above you. You opened your eyes and saw two pairs of icy and violet eyes looking straight at you, glistening with joy and mischief. You wondered why until yours went wide as you realised the arms and the warm wave from the one and unique Azriel. Rhys bursted out of laughter at your panicked face and Feyre poked and scolded him for wakening Azriel. Because yes, he did. And Nyx woke up too, jumping on his parents still laughing at now two panicked faces. After thanking both of you, Feyre and Rhys seemed to be having their own secret conversation because of the way their eyes went glassy in a matter of seconds. So you jumped on the opportunity to flee, to run away from this damn situation. What have you done ?!
Arriving at your appartment the door was open so you assumed Lucien had stayed in. Coming in you were met with him yelling at you.
"Have you lost your mind ?"
You had never seen him like that and you didn't understand why.
"What ? What's going on Lu?
-Don't Lu me right now, that's not the time ! I've learnt that you were having dates with a guy for 2 weeks now? And besides the fact that you haven't told me anything, which I'm upset for, that damn guy came today. He was fuckibg banging at the door, almost crashing it ! When I opened, we both explained our situation with you, he got mad, started yelling that you were going to fucking pay for the fact that you were avoiding him and seeing another male he saw you with !
-Dont worry Lu, I don't see anyone else, I was just babysittkng Nyx with Az, that's all.
-But I don't care about that! That's not the fucking problem! The damn thing is that this guy is a walking Red flag! He screams toxic a hundred miles away ! And seeing him yelling like a godsdamned animal earlier, it wouldn't surprise me for him to be an abuser! So stop seeing him please !
-What ? No ? You're emphasising Lu, he's not like that I promise, he's kind and nice to me!
-Please yn.. I've seen him.. I dont want you to get hurt."
The whole conversation was starting to upset you. You hadn't slept a lot, had woken up awkward as hell and you hadn't even put a feet in your own appartment that your best friend started screaming at you for a guy he didn't even know.
"Okay Lucien." He stilled, you never called him that usually.
"It's not because your own relationship didn't work that you have to have a word on mine or ruin it for me to still be the pitiful single not-even-bestfriend of yours."
He opened his mouth, ready to talk back but nothing came out of it. You saw the big pained look in his eye and immediately regretted your action.
"Oh my gods Lu, I'm so sorry I didn't me-
-As you said.. don't Lu me right now." He said cold voice starting to walk to the doors.
"NO PLEASE LU!" It was your turn to scream now.
He slammed the door shut, and you cried your whole heart out: you were such an ass. No wonder why Azriel, then Elain and now Lucien had walked away from you. You hurt everything and everyone you loved. Feyre might even be pretending to be your friend. You only felt just an ounce of relief when the cool breeze of a shadow caressed your the back of your neck.
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
The shadow had stayed the day and helped you with everything. It was comforting really and you needed it. You blamed yourself for what happened with Lucien earlier, really you did and you only thought about that. But you still went to work and met your coffee guy who proposed a date the night for you to make it up for the lost time. That's what he had said with a wink. You had nodded but hadn't said anything, a little hurt by what he said. Maybe Lucien was right after all ? No that couldn't be possible. You couldn't possibly be terrible in every relationship choices you made ? So you agreed and back home before the date, you decided that you would indeed make up for the lost time. You dressed yourself in a long blue dress with your back naked, attached your hair in a stylised bun and put on mascara and red lips. You were really sexy and beautiful. For once you could admit it and call you that.
The dinner went well and on the door, he kissed fervently. At first you were shocked but still answered to the sloppy kiss. He pinned you on your door and after a pressing unlock, he slammed it and carried you to your bed for what you thought to be a sleepless night.
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
It was a sleepless night indeed, but not like you thought it would be. He wasn't even food in bed and you had spent the entire night regretting it but fearing of just moving an inch. You had just been staring at the ceiling wondering what had you done again and thinking about the fact that you should have listened to Lucien. Panicking again, in a too short period of time, you sensed again the shadow curling against your neck, as if it was comforting you.
my son would love you. — miles 42 x reader
you waited by your parents' offices, what with the two of them being doctors, they were constantly busy and had a lot on their plates. you were just scrolling through your phone as you were seated down by the waiting area, patiently listening to the ticking of the clock's hands as the seconds passed by, getting closer and closer to the end of their office hours.
your attention was completely on your phone, not really minding anything else until you heard the clatter of some medical equipment by the small trolley this female nurse with long, dark curly hair was pushing. she accidentally bumped the trolley against the wall as she made way for the patients passing by her–she muttered to herself in spanish as she hurriedly crouched down to pick it all up.
looking up from your phone, you felt bad for the woman–you decided to help her as you got to your feet and began making your way towards her. you crouched down next to her and handed her the tongue depressors and gauzes you found sprawled on the floor. you handed them to her with a gentle smile, and you soon saw her smiling back. there was something about this woman that felt reminiscent of someone dear in your life, but you couldn't figure out who or why you were drawing that connection out of nowhere, but as you were thinking, the woman had thanked you repeatedly for your help.
"it's no problem, really, i'm just glad you didn't have to clean this all up on your own." you said with a gentle voice as the woman helped you get up on your feet. the woman smiled at you as she looked at you up and down. "such a kind soul you are, really, i can't thank you enough. say, you seem a bit familiar, do you by any chance attend brooklyn visions academy?" she asked you as you nodded. her smile widened as she witnessed your affirmation. "oh! that's wonderful, my son attends that school, too. you'd love him, he's just like you. though dare i say, he's a little cranky sometimes." she says with a chuckle as you chuckled back, being reminded of a certain boy you knew who was incredibly cranky during mornings when anyone but you would talk to him.
"that'd be nice, though, i... i kinda have a boyfriend already." you told her as her smiling expression morphed into one of surprise. "oh... oh, that's okay. you don't have to think of it that way, you guys can be friends." she said as her smile returned; she introduced herself to you as rio morales, and you introduced yourself to her–she found your name very fitting for a person as beautiful and kind as you, no wonder your parents named you that name. you spoke with that woman as you waited for your parents to finish up–with the two of you sharing about yourselves, your hobbies, and a certain person you two had deemed to be very important in your lives. you enjoyed rio's company and keeping her company, and these little exchanges and late night conversations between you two would go on for a few weeks–almost a whole month–until rio had mustered up the courage to ask you and your family if you could come have dinner with them.
your parents were okay with it, they did want some time away from work anyway and more time with you; and the thought of dining at their coworker's place intrigued them, they were more than willing to come over, and so were you. as your family neared the apartment unit where rio's family lived, you heard a barrage of voices inside–three voices to be exact. rio's voice surfaced compared to the other two, whose voices were male–one of which you swore you heard before, a voice you were far too familiar with. rio spoke out in spanish to one of the males there to open the door for the guests since she was busy making sure the food wouldn't burn.
footsteps were heard from the other end as the door's mechanisms clicked and the doorknob turned, and behind the door was rio's son, the young boy who bore the surname 'morales', and... was your boyfriend. the boy greeted your family, looking up at your parents first until he turned and saw you. his face became flustered almost immediately, his eyes going wide and his mouth hanging open as the words he was meant to utter just fell flat and his voice had ultimately gone mute. his uncle from inside the unit had called out to miles, gesturing to him to let your family in, breaking him out of his trance. he stepped aside and opened the door wider for you and your family to enter, with his gaze following your own bashful and surprised one.
"good... evening to you, my mom's new friend." he said with a slight smile as you chuckled and nodded. "you too... mrs. morales' son, handsome son, might i add. she says so, they were her words, not mine." you said in a teasing manner as miles felt even more sheepish and chuckled, thinking that, out of all the people in the universe... his partner had to befriend his own mother, without either one of your parents knowing you both were more than just strangers towards each other.
christmas kiss- harry j potter x reader
p: harry j potter x fem!reader w: fluff, not proofread summary: spending christmas with harry and the gang at hogwarts a/n: lil thing i whipped up, sorry its not the best. happy holidays everyone !
Christmas time at Hogwarts was one of the most gorgeous times of the year. The halls were decorated in holiday glee, Christmas trees lined the Great Hall thanks to Hagrid and the house elves. A white blanket of snow covered the grounds of the school, adding to the winter spirit.
Few students littered the halls of Hogwarts, most returning to homes to celebrate this wonderful holiday with family, but that didn't ruin the Christmas cheer.
(Y/N) (L/N) sat alone in her dorm, doing some very last minute gift wrapping. Her dormmates went home and her parents had something come up last minute which meant she would have to stay at the castle.
She didn't mind though. Especially when Harry was staying along with Hermione and the Weasleys. It was a bit exciting to be able to spend the holiday break with her friends.
(Y/N) was wrapping the last gift, which was a scarf and a broom kit for Harry. The boy had been complaining about the state of his firebolt, so (Y/N) had bought the kit to help him fix up his broom (as well as to stop the complaining). The scarf was something she knitted herself, noticing Harry's slight shiver in the colder months as he lost his Gryffindor scarf.
Harry had always been a wonderful friend to her since they started bonding in their second year. But (Y/N) would be lying if she said she just saw him as a friend. His boyish charm didn't fail to captivate her and his loyalty and kindness was something she had always admired.
Once she finished wrapping the last gift, (Y/N) gathered the rest of the gifts to bring to the Gryffindor common room. After speaking the current password to the portrait of the Fat Lady, (Y/N) spotted the trio.
"Merry Christmas everyone!" (Y/N) announced to her friends.
Hermione was the first to greet her, taking the gifts from her arms before wrapping her arms around her in a hug.
"Merry Christmas (Y/N)!"
Ron came up and greeted her in a hug as well. Harry was last to greet her, but was the best. His hugs felt like home.
"Where's Fred, George, and Ginny?" (Y/N) inquired, noticing the absence of three red heads.
"They're all outside in the snow," Ron told her. "We told them we'd meet up with them in a bit."
(Y/N) nodded. "Well, I have your guys' gifts if you'd like to open it," she said as she began handing them their respective gifts.
Ron did not hesitate to rip the wrapping paper off his, revealing sweets from Honey Dukes, a winter hat, and a poster of his favorite Chudley Cannons Players.
"This is wicked, (Y/N)!"
Hermione unwrapped her presents with care. She received a planning journal and a book of wizarding history.
"Oh, (Y/N). I love it!"
(Y/N) knew Ron and Hermione would enjoy their gifts, but she had a bit more worry on what Harry would think of his. Maybe Harry expected something more. What if he hated his gift?
Finally, Harry unwrapped his present. The corners of his lips turn upward upon seeing what he got. The sight began to put (Y/N) at ease, but her worries still consumed the back of her mind.
Harry grabbed the scarf, feeling the texture between his fingers.
"This is lovely, (Y/N). Did you make this scarf?"
The girl smiled, glad Harry enjoyed his gifts. "I did. Took a while to get it to look perfect."
"Well it look stunning. Thank you (Y/N)," Harry said to her, wrapping her in another hug.
Ron coughed, causing them to break apart. A sly smile appeared on his face.
"Hate to ruin the moment, but I think my brothers and sister are waiting for us."
"Wait, but (Y/N) hasn't opened any of our gifts," Hermione exclaimed. "Oh, but I left yours in my room."
"It's fine Hermione. I can open it later." (Y/N) reassured her. "Besides. I'm ready to go out in the snow."
The four of them went to meet the twin and Ginny out in the castle grounds, where they found them making a snowman.
"Finally," Fred said. "We've been waiting ages for you lot."
"Thought we would have to drag you here ourselves," said George.
"We didn't take that long," Ron huffed at them. "Besides you guys w-"
A snowball hit Ron in the face, stopping his sentence. He wiped the snow off his face, revealing his now slightly red face.
"Oi! What gives?" He said before another snowball hit his shoulder.
"How about less talking," George began.
"And more snowball fighting," Fred said before he and George ran from Ron.
Ron groaned. "Oh alright. Come on guys."
Hermione shook her head. "You guys can go ahead. I'll help Ginny with her snowman."
"Suit yourself," said Ron. "Let's go Harry, (Y/N)."
Ron, Harry and (Y/N) joined Fred and George on their snowball fight. The twins mainly threw at Ron since they thought it was funny, but didn't fail to make an aim at each other or (Y/N) and Harry.
(Y/N) had caught up to Harry, who stood back watching as Fred and George used their wands to cast a pile of snow onto Ron, who began to spit curses at them while digging his way out to chase after them.
"So how has your break been," Harry asked the girl.
"It's been good," she told him. "It's a bit sad I can't celebrate Christmas with my parents, but at least I'm celebrating with you."
Harry flushed a bit. "I'm glad to be celebrating with you too."
"So," (Y/N) began. "Do you really like the scarf?"
Harry nodded. "I love it. I can't believe you made it for me."
"I'd do anything for you, Harry," She said truthfully.
"Anything?"
(Y/N) nodded, feeling her face flush. "Of course. You mean the world to me, you always help me with anything so why wouldn't I do the same?"
"Then you wouldn't mind giving me a kiss?"
(Y/N) was taken back by Harry's words.
"A kiss?"
Harry nodded his head, suddenly feeling shy despite his bold words.
"A kiss. But only if you want to," he quickly said. "It's fine if you don't, we can just forget I even asked. Honestly it's probably silly for me to-"
Harry's tangent was cut off by a pair of soft lips on his. He was a bit shocked by it, not expecting it. He gave in, kissing the girl back.
Unfortunate for him, (Y/N) was the first to pull back, the warmth of her lips leaving his. The two stood in brief silence, staring into each other bright eyes.
"That was."
"Nice," (Y/N) said. "Really nice."
"Yeah, really nice," Harry agreed.
"So, does this mean you like me?" (Y/N) asked. Her heartbeat was racing and it felt like the snowflakes around them were floating in her stomach. This was either going to go good or bad.
"Depends. Do you like me?"
"Yeah," (Y/N) responded. "I do."
"I like you too, (Y/N). Like you for a while actually," the boy admitted.
"Me too." The girl felt herself smiling.
Clapping sounds distracted the two as they turned to see the twins, Ron, Hermione, and Ginny, all with grins on their faces.
"Finally," Ron said to them. "I thought you guys were never going to tell each other."
"Thought we were going to have to do something about it, you know maybe a love potion." said Fred.
"Fred!" Hermione scolded him.
(Y/N) laughed a little. "Well I think I'm ready to head back in. Hot chocolate anyone?"
Everyone agreed and began to head back inside the castle. Harry and (Y/N) were at the ending trailing behind everyone, enjoying each others presence. Harry gave her a kiss on the cheek.
"Happy Christmas, (Y/N)."
"Happy Christmas, Harry."
you should totally talk about ur lily more😔 (pleasepleaplepleasepleaspeleaapleaase)
Sigh, I have a very love-hate relationship with Lily with how some of her fans can get. Unfortunately, I did post about her at some point but took it down. Truthfully, I do love her in my own personal way.
Anyways, here's some headcanons:
-She's from Spain and was raised Catholic. Her family moved to the UK and unlike Petunia, Lily settled kinda well while Petunia wasn't used to the sudden change in environment. They moved when Lily was 10 and Petunia was 12.
-I feel like people will hate me for this, but I think her friendship with Severus was one of the most important ones. First friend-first love kinda of thing. They were each other's first person and even when they part ways, Lily will still feel fond of him even when they both wronged each other (because there is no way in hell two lonely teens weren't gonna hurt each other one way or another). Modern AU version of them is just two teenage girls who don't know where the boundaries of romantic-platonic end and begin which causes a lot of weird feelings and toxicity (don't ask how I know that)
-She's like one of those people who are like "Stop doing that, you're making me stressed", and the other person just placed a book in a different place. There is always a certain way she likes things done because she feels like works better, so if another way is introduced, she will be skeptical about its efficiency
-I don't see her reading fiction books all that much. She would much prefer biographies to draw her life inspirations from, literature essays to validate her internal points, and poems for small readings to just relax with. I think if she would read nonfiction, they would definitely have an overall message that she obsesses over. However, I think she would LOVE magazines.
-Not all that into movies, I don't think she would have the patience to watch them.
-We as a fandom must never forget her skill for potions. I think in the muggle world, she was very into chemistry (I've always found this funny stereotype about religious people not liking stuff like chemistry)
-Much more easily agitated during the war. Her head was constantly filling with regrets and a back-and-forth desire to run back to Petunia or stay with the Order. Once Harry was born, she kinda had this melancholy look about her, she won't be able to return or try to make amends with her sister for a long long time, or if she's even able to. At every meeting, she had a frustrated look in her eye but when she was pregnant/after Harry's birth, she just looked like she was reluctantly accepting a terrible fate. She's happy with the family she's crafted for herself but also misses when she didn't have to go through the loneliness of making one for herself because she had Petunia and that was more than enough for Lily.
-I don't think she regrets helping muggles at all. That's not what I'm saying. I'm more in the thinking that she wanted to the comfort of her own family in a such difficult time. Jealously when Regulus dies, Sirius can finally mourn and put his family to rest while Lily fears for her family's life every day as they live, living in regret and feeling like an outcast. James and his parents and her desire for her mother when she's pregnant, yes Effie is kind, but she isn't Lily's mom. Remus has the comfort of knowing his family is safe because Lyall is a wizard, and the same can go for Peter. Lily's family probably doesn't even know what was happening.
-All that anger and frustration kinda boils over and I WISH that JK Rowling made her more angry before her death. Lily's life was unfair! She deserved to yell and scream, plea for her son's life but also cuss out Voldemort. Screaming and crying (literally), shaking with fear but also anger, and I know, female characters can be soft/sensitive/emotional, it's not a bad thing. It's just I wish she was more angry/a mess because she was seen as a witty, sharp-tongued girl! This stereotypical fierce redhead! I would've been fine with her simply pleading for her son's life even in the most pathetic way (no shame) but her personality was established as being very fierce by JK Rowling!! But this could honestly be just me and yes, I know, situations change people sometimes. I just wished there was more anger, or maybe I'm angry on her behalf lol
-Teenage Lily is the helpless romantic, the girl who reads real-life love stories to prove love is real, the girl who cheers her boyfriend on the field, and the girl with gum and finished homework notes that could be given to anyone who needed them. But 20-21 year old Lily the tired woman who cried for her mother when she had her first child, the tired woman who wanted her sister's hugs again, the tired woman with sickly green eyes and moved too slowly for a woman in her early 20s, and the tired woman who watched everyone like a hawk at Order meetings that talked of more death. She sits in the corner, the chair seemingly too big for her, or anyone for that matter, and watches with frustrations simmering under her eyes. Sometimes give a cutting remark that Sirius laughs to.
#i didn't want to get into her sexuality/romantic relationships all that much tbh its not that interesting to me#but i like seeing her narcissa or dorcas lol#ivan gets the mail#marauders era#marauders#lily evans#lily j evans#the marauders era#🫀 tag#hope u like these tehe <3
It's kind of.. really cruel of the author to never include Kamiki in any of the colored drawings. They never developed him well enough while having him destroyed, he DID swallow up so many of the remaining chapters due to Aqua basically devoting his life and giving up on everything he built up in the entire story to killing him, but it's not like we actually know so much of this guy either. I've studied him A LOT but from your average reader's perspective he's like someone just little more than some rando, Ai's ex who's a psychopath showing up and the protag just dying with him. The thing is!! That "psychopath" laid out all the reasons why Aqua's life is precious and worth living and suggested he go back to live. This is what gets me so much. So was this the only way?? I'm coming up with my own analogies to make it have a sense- but it's the work that has to make things convincing. The readers should not do this work. The work should provide proper answers.
Ofc he could be horrible(I'm not convinced btw)but wow, even the Himekawas have Taiki visiting their grave in the final chapter with flowers when what they did is horrifying. THE WOMAN MOLESTED A LITTLE KID. STARTING FROM AGE 10-11. I really can't forgive how they just..; How can they be so irresponsible on handling such a subject? They just make a couple statements.. oh by the way I'm GLAD Taiki never had a confrontation with Kamiki. I saw how his characters of his name was written and do you know?? His name comes from how Kamiki's characters are written in kanji and I found that super cruel and creepy of Airi. That woman is a character but she's insane. I never felt Kamiki would have to confront the boy one bit. No, they never have to interact at all. What happened regarding them's still horrifying. I just saw a new drawing of the hoshino family but like, he's always nonexistent. Maybe he doesn't deserve it, but he's completely excluded in that whole family dynamic when it is stated that Ai wanted to raise her kids with him. I feel really bitter because what's the point?? of all this??
I had a chat with my friend who isn't really into the series much, and she had an interesting idea.
she says since the story is SO incomplete, and the author announced they're going to write a new series- she thinks that they may be trying to create a narrative where multiple narratives can somehow converge into a part of a huge universe or something. They'll explain all the weird things through it. Wasn't Kaguya-sama and Onk set in the same world? She says. There may be some beings that are chosen by the gods or hold some specialties in them but it's never really been explained how they've come to be or what conditions they get chosen, maybe they're going to continue writing several stories and explain it through another. "They never showed the dad being really dead, didn't they? We basically know so little about him? He might come back in another story." (I went, "BUT JUST WHAT WOULD HE DO?? AI'S STILL DEAD.." oh but in that case, he might actually look ENTIRELY different because he's an actor huh. and since there's "Misogi", he might be really purified by the saltwater. He might return to being a benevolent god now. Again, what was Aqua's life then but actually;; maybe Kamiki IS still alive. We really didn't see his body or know what the heck actually happened to him.)
I have no idea... but so much is just left unexplained.., so maybe she has a point. This work is simply incomplete. We really don't know what's been happening behind the scenes or why the twins were reincarnated, what were their missions and all, everything's left on a vague note. I do feel like they're going to have Ruby appear as a cameo in the author's next work as a famous idol on TV or something like that. Perhaps this piece may be a "stepping stone" for another story to develop on the same thing. While I was sitting there, listening to her theories of it, I couldn't help but feel really annoyed at the author. Even if they have some bigger picture or whatnot(if they somehow deem this piece a complete piece of work, that's even more concerning because anyone can tell it's extremely hollow and sloppy) this isn't respectful toward their readers who came in looking for a resolution.
I did manage to come up with an explanation for this piece that I'm pretty sure of, but they didn't do the work they were supposed to do. If they want to make some other piece of work and develop that first, then it's better to leave one on hiatus and create pieces that are "complete". Stories are a product, we don't come here to look at single puzzle pieces, we want the whole picture. The time, energy, and passion spent on reading a piece shouldn't feel like a waste. If the piece can't explain what's going on on its own, it's cannot be defined as a standalone. On that regard, onk isn't a standalone because nobody can figure out what's been going on about the ending of the piece by just seeing what the series has to offer, we have to make guesses that aren't properly laid out. It's like you order a pizza and you only got the dough. No matter how great the dough is, you'd STILL want a pizza because that's what you're there for. That's what the authors did for this piece, regarding the plot, and for all the characters of the series, the only character I think somewhat survived is Ai because her story had some sort of a wrap-up. She's the only one that feels complete in a sense, so this series..in the end, heavily relied on this one character who died in the first volume. She was really iconic.
Hopefully I don't have much more to be disappointed about-
oh, about Ruby in the last chapter. They had to let her speak for herself, she doesn't feel alive. Ruby can express the feelings she has. She has a mouth for herself. Why are they letting Akane speak on her behalf when she's not even the one that has a strong bond with her? Even if she is, wasn't Ruby supposed to be some sort of double protagonist? Or an important character at least? Or it could have been the author's intent(I'm strongly sensing that this is what they were going for, they want us to be a bystander the way we watch idols on tv and look up to them without knowing how they are as a human being), in that case, this whole piece leaves such a bad taste. So NOTHING's improved from Ai's case, it even got worse, the only thing that separates Ai's situation and keeps Ruby's career being endangered is that Ruby doesn't have a boyfriend and she doesn't have twins to care for. So what's the message huh?? Don't make any of those or even if you end up doing it, lie!! Is that it?
This piece is so disrespectful then. That's unsettling.
Those pages used in the final chapter should have been entirely devoted to Ruby speaking for herself if they even care for her as someone who has a heart of a person...but I don't think it's the message they want to show, the authors must want to make a point about the nature of idols having to keep up sturdy personas and keep shining at all times, but THAT'S already been discussed FAR better with Ai's case. It's even a step turned backward, so Onk wasn't really about growth.. Ruby's lost HER character. Not every work has to be about growth but having this happen after 17 volumes of story that seemed to suggest otherwise is not just baffling, it's not consistent writing and I wouldn't be this harsh(I'm not even being harsh right here. I'm being so generous with everything I'm typing)if it were to be written out in depth.
Borrowing my friend's commentary on it: This work don't discuss any of the issues they are presenting as insightful as it should, they just toss things out there and acknowledge they exist... but the characters make a few comments about that particular topic, make awkward laughs and then brush it off after having made you thought it's going to be handled. I think... acknowledging things have some meaning to it, at least it lets you realize it exist (for example, I started paying more attention to child abuse after having seen Ai and Kamiki's stories) but if you're going to bring it up, don't you have to handle it well? It's not the worst but I'd say it's SO FAR from what it can be as well. That is, also what I've found pretty annoying about this work. So nothing has been covered as well as it could have been. The plot, the characters, the subject it handles, they're all left hanging there. This piece is incomplete. And if you hand in an incomplete product, it isn't even graded. It gets sent back and is required to be completed and polished again till it is, or your contract is terminated. That's the situation with this piece. I wonder what the anime team would do with the third season but the authors had to hand in a piece they could work with. They shouldn't do this to them. I'm not saying the piece is entirely bad, it's just not a finished product. And that's not fair to all the people who wished for one.
Hello,I'm not sure if you've done this but how about, meet Pablo's family for the first time?
Your new family
"Amor, you look just fine..please don't change again!" Pablo was sitting on the bed letting you show him all the little outfits you had prepared for this dinner with his parents tonight.
"But it's just too red!" you say about to walk away but your boyfriend grabbed your waist before you could do it pulling you in and making you sit on his lap. It was always hard to fight back because he was so much stronger than you but you didn't mind it.
"Red looks so good on your amor..tell me what's this really about huh?" he said tucking a piece of your curled hair behind your ear and you blush sighing deeply.
"I am nothing special..like I'm just a college girl and you're well Pablo Gavi" you say and he let you finish your thought before pulling you closer and kissing your lips.
"First of all amor, you're more than special to me. Secondly, they always wanted me to have a normal girl who grounds me just like you always do. And lastly, to those people out there I'm Pablo Gavi but to you mi amor, I'm your Pablito okay?" he said caressing your face and you felt your heart beating fast against your chest. This was just what you needed to hear right now.
"Mhm.." you just said but he wanted to be convinced you heard him.
"Okay princesa?" he asked again raising up your chin and you gave him a sweet smile.
"Okay Pablito" you say and he nods kissing your lips lovingly before letting you go finish getting ready.
When you arrived, you were very nervous playing with the edge of your dress but the moment Pablo caught that his hand held yours tightly.
He knocked and Belen opened the door with a bright smile on her face. I started to relax slowly but still worried I might say something wrong.
"Bienvenidos! Ai que guapa!" she said touching your hair and you blushed knowing enough spanish to know that she just called you beautiful.
"Mamá, íngles porf" Pablo said the woman nodded welcoming us inside. We took out shoes off and went to the dinning room where Dr. Gavira and Aurora sat.
"Welcome!" his dad tapped his shoulder and reached for your hand to kiss it. You smiled nodding your head before Aurora rushed to give you a hug. Thankfully you've met her before and you were really close friends now.
"You look great amiga. Don't be nervous!" Aurora smiled as we walked to our seats and i blushed smiling and hoping I stop feeling uptight soon.
"No need to be nervous. We are very happy Pablo found someone kind for himself." his dad added and you thanked him for the kind words.
"And very very beautiful!" Belen added and Pablo nodded touching your cheek while you blushed.
Through another hour, y'all ate dinner and chatted about random topics and you really started to feel like apart of the family. They were such warm and welcoming people that it stopped feeling like you just met them.
"And I like to clean the leaves once a week.." you were showing Belen and Aurora how you take care of plants by the window while Pablo looked at you in awe sitting with his father.
"Realmente amas a esta chica chaval." his dad said catching Pablo's attention as he stopped looking at you and turned to him.
"Que obvio eh?" Pablo said and they both laughed.
"Los ojos chico, nunca mienten.." his dad said and Pablo smiled remembering that while looking back at you as your eyes met and you gave him a sweet smile that warmed his heart and he returned it.
"Thank you so much for the dinner, it was delicious Belen. Really nice to meet you Sr. Gavira" you said as you were getting ready to leave for the night and they both gave you a warm hug thanking you for coming by.
"I'll see you tomorrow for shopping amiga?" Aurora added and you chuckled looking at Pablo who begged you to spend his free day together.
"Maybe we do it Wednesday instead huh?" you say and she smiles nodding her head and wishing you both good night.
"Thank you for choosing me princesa" Pablo said as you entered the car and you smiled nodding your head and kissing his cheek.
"You're always my first choice cariño" you smile checking the new messages in the new group chat you were added to titled 'familia' which warmed your heart.
"And you're mine princesa..I'm so proud of you for getting through it. I hope it wasn't much of a bother" Pablo said and you placed your hand on his leg as he drove.
"It wasn't a bother at all..it was such a pleasure and I am so happy they see me as family" you say and Pablo smiles nodding his head knowing he had found the one finally. No other girl did he introduce to his parents but there was no doubt you were here to stay forever by his side.
"I told you they'll love you..it's impossible not to amor" he smiled and you blushed at his comment.
"Stop it cariño!" you say and he chucked finally pulling into the parking of your apartment.
"You wanna sleep over like we planned?" you ask when he didn't turn off the car and he just shook his head which made you confused. Why did he change his mind?
"I want you to come to my home.." he said touching your hair and tucking it behind your ear again.
"Um we can do that tonight too.." you said but were quickly interrupted.
"Forever." he added and now you were shocked. Was he asking you to move in with him!?
"Are..are you sure Pablo?" you asked and he smiled nodding his head while softly caressing your cheek.
"I've been sure for months that we've been together..and after tonight I am even more sure..I want you to be by my side..forever cariño" he said and tears got to your eyes from happiness while he dried them.
"Princesita mia..no tears okay? Let's pack you and go" he said and you both got out towards your apartment happily while holding your hands.
When you arrived to his place, you were feeling new sense of love and a more intimate one. You and Pablo were finally taking a next step and it was so damn exciting and terrifying.
"Um..what about my apartment?" you say and he pulls you in kissing the top of your head.
"We'll sell it together in time. No worries. Come on, let's go to bed princesita" he said pulling you to the bedroom before you could grab your suitcase.
"Pablo, I need a pajama" you say while he started taking off your jumper making you blush.
"From now on, in OUR home..my t-shirts are you pajamas cariño" he said taking off his t-shirt and going to the closer to give you a new clean one to wear. You shamelessly checked out his muscular back. He was really your man! Fuck!
"Here you go cariño" he said giving you one of his newest white t-shirts but you weren't sure if it was alright so you asked him.
"Um maybe you have an older one Pablito?" you say shyly and he raising your chin kissing your lips in response.
"It makes it that much more expensive when my woman wears it" he said and you blushed hard. His woman..he never called you that before.
You wore the t-shirt before crawling in bed with him as he pulled you close starting to play with your hair while you stared into each other's eyes.
"What made you do this now Pablito?" you say and he smiled kissing your forehead lovingly.
"Something my dad said to me today while I watched you with my mom and Rora..he said I'm really in love with you because eyes never lie and he's right. I'm so in love with you cariño" Pablo said and you were a blushing mess leaning in and kissing his lips.
"I'm in love with you too" you say before you both cuddled up falling asleep in each other's arms happy for the start of this new chapter of your life togehter . <33
Namjoon’s eyes felt heavy as a cold left from behind his eyes. He was able to open them fully, conscious over where he was. They were in a hospital looking room, waiting for someone to tell them something. All seven of them seemed to be awake and looking around in awe. Yoongi had been sitting next to Namjoon, turning when the man woke up.
“What's going on?” He questioned, turning to find his coven mates waiting for him to wake up.
“We were put to sleep.” Yoongi explained. “We're back in Seoul.”
“Seoul!?” Namjoon stood up quickly, looking around in horror.
“Our Seoul.” Hoseok placed a hand on Namjoon’s shoulder, giving him a kind smile.
Namjoon could see the youngest boys all sitting around the bed next to him, finding his Hyungs around him. He also immediately noticed your grandfather sitting in a chair on the other wall. He suddenly felt anxiety creep into his chest when you weren’t in his line of sight.
“Where's (Y/N)?” He asked quietly, turning when the younger boys moved to the side to show you on the bed.
“She's still asleep.” Jin answered. “They said they can't wake her up.”
“Why?” Namjoon frowned.
“Bang PD-nim has to be the one to wake her.” A new voice spoke up from the door of the room.
All of the boys turned around to find someone who had been there for them since they were young adults. He was the person who took care of them when they were in training. The person who was in charge of making sure they didn’t feel like they were missing their family. Their stand in parent.
“Sejin?” Namjoon whispered.
“Hello, Namjoon.” The older man smiled, tears welling up in his eyes.
Namjoon sniffled, finally coming to terms that he was in fact home. All those 10 years of aggression, pent up frustration, anxiety, fear, every little negative emotion that he harbored was suddenly all gone because here he stood in the building where he found his coven mates.
He was home. He was going to see his family and friends again. He was whole. Especially knowing that you were going to be there to share it with him.
“It's-It's been so long.” Namjoon choked up, getting up from the bed.
“It has.” Sejin sniffled, quickly pulling the tall boy into a hug. “I'm sorry I couldn't do more. I tried—I really did try to find you boys.” He cried, hugging Namjoon tightly for fear of having him disappear again.
“It's not your fault.” Namjoon pulled away, wiping at his cheeks. “We're home now. Thanks to (Y/N).” The two of them turned to you laying in the bed peacefully.
The younger boys didn’t move much from your body, making sure to be touching you in some way to keep them assured you were still fine. Your chest rising and falling was enough to tell the others that you were in fact still alive and fine.
They had all panicked when you came out of the water unconscious. If it hadn’t been for Seokjin’s quick thinking, something terrible might have happened to you. Namjoon couldn’t even begin to think about what could have gone wrong.
“I see.” Sejin smiled kindly. “I owe her a lot then.”
As the older man looked between all of the boys, the tears returned as he watched each of the boys look at you with some form of worry. He knew that they were going to be doting on you every step of the way. Especially when it meant they were going to be at home to show you their kind.
“Come on, Bang is ready to see you.” Sejin brought all of them out of their stupor, leading them towards where Bang and the council were waiting for them all.
An ogre man walked into the room in order to take you to Bang, however Jimin was quick to stop him and pull you into his hold. “I got her.” He said, picking you up with ease as his natural abilities were being used.
All 9 of them were led to a conference room where many people were waiting for them. And the moment they had entered, all of the people came to a stand and cheered.
“Bangtan has returned!” An older man with glasses exclaimed, eyes tearing up.
Bang Si-hyuk was known as the man who trained just great creatures and led them on paths that catered to greatness. He was one of the couple of people who had companies that helped others reach their full potential. Bangtan had been the first group he had experimented with. Taught Hobi and the others most of what they knew before they were kidnapped.
He was a witch much like Hobi. Seen as one of the greatest known creatures in the entire world, he had lived a very long life so he knew a bunch of things others might not. So with his knowledge and expertise, he started a small company to teach others.
“It's so good to finally see you boys.” He sniffled, patting Namjoon on the back. “I see the last 10 years haven't been well for you. Have they?” He suddenly sighed, looking somber.
“We have a lot to discuss but first please Bang.” Namjoon moved to the side, allowing Jimin to walk forward with your grandfather alongside him. “Our mate has a spell block on her. It belongs to you.”
“Ah, little (Y/N).” Bang turned to your grandfather, giving him a bow of his head. “She has grown up healthy.” The man smiled to himself, watching as Jimin held you delicately. “I'm glad.” He turned back to your grandfather.
“She's the one who found your boys.” He told Bang.
“Then I guess the block won't be needed anymore.” Bang told himself. “Set her down.” He spoke to Jimin.
The boy bent down to his knees, keeping you close to his chest as he set your body down in front of Bang. He stayed next to you, sweeping your hair from your face. Bang bent down on his knee, waving his hands over your head. A gray mist began to form as it seeped under your eyes and around your body.
The boys almost made a sound as your body seemed to twitch at the magic, watching your eyelids begin to move. You took in a deep breath, as though waking up from a sleep slowly fluttering your eyes open.
“There.” Bang smiled, coming to stand as you regained consciousness.
“Jimin?” You sleepily called, seeing the boy's beautiful smile across his face as he held you in his arms.
“Hi, Beautiful.” He whispered, pulling you closer to him.
“Did we make it to your home?” You asked, letting go of him to look around for a moment.
The room looked like a boardroom you would find in your own home. There wasn’t much of a difference, it looked modern compared to what you had been thinking.
“We did.” Jimin told you. “And we're so excited to show you it.” He turned your head to look at him, thumb rubbing at your cheek.
Once you felt your body coming back to you, you slowly looked around, noticing all the stares that the people in the room were giving you. You furrowed your eyebrows a bit, trying to find something in the boardroom that made it look like it was part of a magical world.
However everything looked exactly as back home. You began to worried that you had somehow never made it to the boy’s world. When a man came into your view, your worries seemed to have passed as you watched some of his magic retreat back into his body. Your eyes went wide as you didn’t seem to feel any kind of pain from seeing it.
“Hello.” You politely spoke up.
“Hello, dear.” The man smiled joyfully. “I am Bang Shi-Hyuk.” He bowed.
“It's nice to meet you.” You smiled.
He gave you one last grin before turning to look at the boys. As he stood up, Jimin helped you as well, holding you close just in case you fell over from the magic that might have still been running through your body.
“I noticed something when I was taking the spell away.” He began. “She should have been in pain the moment she passed through the waters. However it seemed she was perfectly fine, so what did you do?” He asked the seven of them.
“I gave her a kiss.” Hobi explained.
“True love's kiss. Clever, son.” Bang smiled, nodding his head.
You turned to him, raising your eyebrows as you thought about the kiss you had given Jungkook. You had no idea just how powerful a kiss like that really was. But if it seemed to take both you and Jungkook out of different kinds of spells it must mean it’s seen as something huge.
“It was Jin who told us.” Taehyung smiled. “He's the only one who remembered it.”
“I'd never forget something like that.” Jin spoke up.
“Onto the problem at hand.” Bang sighed somberly. “Tell me, who took you and all the others?”
Your hand gripped onto Jimin’s, searching for the boy who on your other side to hold the other. Jungkook felt you touching him so he quickly gave your hand a squeeze, comforting you.
“It was Myung Hanseol.” Namjoon answered, shoulders squared making him look bigger.
He had authority rolling off him in waves. You knew he was the leader of the group but for some reason watching him take in the air of his home made him look so much more different. Like he was finally free–which he was–but this was more of a freedom that connected him to who he really is.
They all looked that way. They walked with purpose, with a reason to be who they were meant to be. Being home really made them all feel different than they had thought. Most people would have had trauma after being in captivity for so long but these boys were strong. They were ready to fight at any given moment.
It made you want to cry over how much they went through just to be oppressed the way they were. You knew them, but you didn’t know the real them. The real them were the people standing around you in protection with their chest raised and heads held high. It was who they were meant to be.
“So I see.” Bang sighed, looking down. He took a glance at your grandfather who gave him a small bow of his head.
“I think it best for you boys to take (Y/N) and rest.” Bang clapped, going back to smiling brightly. “I'm sure your family will want to see you all as soon as possible.” He gave Namjoon a pat on his back.
All seven of them sighed out, dropping their shoulders as tears pooled in their eyes thinking about their families. They gave everyone a bow as the people in the room clapped, turning to leave.
“And boys?” Bang called. “It's great to have you back.” He turned to you. “Thank you for bringing them home.”
Just as you reached the door, you heard Bang speak again, this time to your grandfather.
“(G/N), do you mind if we talk for a moment?” His expression took a turn, looking somber.
“Of course.”
