I have been receiving requests for any songs that inspired Replica, so here, have my personal playlist. Sorry it’s not Spotify/Soundcloud but they don’t have some of these songs available so uh… guess you’re stuck with YouTube vids. For fun I'll include my personal titles for them (which might give a few hints of what to expect in the future/end).

I will admit, it's a little embarrassing since you can easily see the patterns of what I've been listening to for the past year or two. I swear I listen to more than just videogame OSTs, these songs just jive well with the story and I often find lyrics distracting when brainstorming scenes. Regardless, the music I listen to is such an important part of my creative process and some of these songs really defined the scenes I now have locked in my head. So I figured it was only fair to give them the credit they're due.

I will continue to add to this playlist, and will note in comic updates when one of these songs is applicable!

also something i love doing when im reading is ill do some math and basically listen to an album from each year corresponding with every ten pages. like secrets of dorley has 660 pages and if im on page 300 then thats 660-300=330 which if you lop off the 0 is 33, then subtract that from 2024 is 1991, so i listen to an album from 1991 until i get to page 310, when i switch to an album from 1992. music history 😁💜autism😁💜

life is hard for us oz fans who are only meh about wicked. have half a meme.

#it's not even that i dislike boq as a character - he's fine. i think galinda is the most intriguing of the musical esp in her relationship #with power and how that relates to her relationships with other people. but boq is fine #i am just SO fucking tired of conflating boq wicked with nick chopper baum books #that's not my tin woodman. and i don't want him to be. nick (unlike many oz characters) has a very specific and set backstory #he has a whole damn book about it ffs #and boq is such a different character in terms of role symbolism and personality that i just cannot see him as even an au version of nick #fiyero too to be completely honest. though his mischaracterization doesn't bother me quite as much bc i read the book and he is rather #intriguing as a separate character - i don't love him in the musical tho. anyways specifically calling boq the tin woodman and saying #all the baum book stuff happened to him is so irritating to me because they are not at all the same. and nick is one of my favorite charas #in any media ever. idk. no hate if you like boq ofc and i don't want to stop you from having fun with the characters #i just am getting tired of the greater oz fandom latching on to wicked as fleshing out the baum or mgm characters. it's an entirely #different world. something about the musical how pony is just so 14 and has to be initiated into greaserhood even though it’s something he’s identified with for probably as long as he’s been alive by proxy of his cooler, stronger, tuffer older brothers and the rest of the gang. wanting so badly to fit in somewhere - bc he’s never felt like he fits in anywhere - that he clings onto greaserhood as a child and calls himself one well before he’s ever considered an official tried and true greaser after his first jumping. something even more insane about how all darry’s ever wanted to do is protect pony from greaserhood bc he’s afraid this kid is too sensitive and soft hearted and frankly isn’t strong enough to handle everything greaserhood has to be. he doesn’t know why he wants to be a greaser besides wanting to fit in and doesn’t yet understand what it takes - that they don’t fight just to fight, or to get girls, or for pride or satisfaction or fun or confidence, but that they fight to survive. and that they have to have a reason, something more. overcoming and beating their odds. about how all pony’s ever wanted was to be just like his brothers and wants to have somewhere he feels like he belongs vs the recurring theme of you wanna be a greaser, then know just what you’re fighting for vs you’re a greaser now and there’s no going back. idk pony and his intricate relationship to greaserhood and status and fitting in and identity issues i loveeee you 🙁

i love looking at hot takes and realizing that some outsiders fans don’t realize that fandom is something fun. nothing is truly that serious at the end of the day.
