Hey y'all! Do you have any advice about making smoothies? Like, what kinds of fruit and veggies go well together, what combos very much don't work, and especially if you have any advice on what frozen fruits or veggies work best. I am thinking about trying making smoothies but I know pretty much nothing about it lol
#the person behind the yarn#food mention#I don't even know where to start when it comes to making smoothies#except that I should avoid coconut (allergic) cucumber (possibly allergic) and bananas (sometimes allergic)#and that I should probably stick to frozen fruits and veggies as much as I can#because I have histamine issues#and while I tolerate some fruits very well#some fruits I do not#so this will be a bit of trial and error#but dang. I just really want to be eating more fruits and veggies before I end up with Yet Another Vitamin Deficiency#(my body processes several vitamins and minerals Very Wrong so I have to take...a lot of supplements)#(plus I am on medication to fix some of them that messes up other vitamins. it's a process)#and when it comes to ways to eat frozen fruits and veggies smoothies seem to be the best way#or maybe not best but most efficient?#I tried with non-frozen fruits and veggies but the produce in Tennessee goes bad SO QUICKLY#or at least so quickly compared to where I used to live#so...frozen! frozen fruits and veggies

Okay, so, genuine question. How does the food chain work in the world of Uprooted? Because the people are all cute critters, including animals that people irl have a tendency to eat (like rabbits, chickens, ducks, etc). Is it a sort of cartoon like situation, where some of the animals are sentient, and others are not? If that’s the case then would it be commonplace for, say, a rabbit to eat rabbit stew? Or would it still technically be considered cannibalism? Because not all the critters are herbivores. We got carnivores, like cats, dogs, etc. And sure, they may not constantly eat meat, but I imagine they mostly do.
Also, at what point does an animal stop being sentient? All the characters thus far have been fairly small-medium sized critters, so I assume larger animal—like, say, a horse—wouldn’t be sentient. Unless it follows Peppa Pig rules, where some large animals are sentient and some aren’t. But then what about smaller critters, like a blue jay? Are they all sentient, or only some of them (like Blue Jay Simpson)?
These are all very important questions for my immersion, even though I imagine that literally none of this pertains to the plot of Uprooted (whatever that may be)
#to be fair I have this same thought process for literally any cartoon with animal characters#like Peppa pig or zootopia#actually I just googled if the Peppa pig characters eat meat and I instead found a Reddit thread#of someone asking a similar question; but pointing out that they eat products with milk and eggs#and that just made me realize that the uprooted characters do the same#assuming they’re using chicken eggs; how the fuck does that work if there’s a whole race consisting of chickens?#like…that’s their way of producing children. and no they’re not fertile at that point but like#that’s like if I mixed the eggs from my ovaries into a cake. just because there ain’t a baby there doesn’t make it any less fucked yo#unless it’s different somehow??? how the fuck does food work in this world????#legends of avantris#uprooted#this is such a stupid question but I desperately need to know now#and like this is /hj but also not really

Behind the Scenes: A Day in the Life of a Hot Sauce Producer
Morning: Sourcing the Best Ingredients
The day starts early at Modern Food Products with the sourcing of fresh ingredients. As a leading hot sauce supplier in KSA, the company emphasizes quality and consistency. The procurement team works closely with local farmers to ensure a steady supply of high-quality peppers, garlic, and other essential ingredients. The team conducts thorough inspections to ensure that only the best produce makes it into their sauces.
Farm Inspections and Quality Control
Farm Visits: Regular visits to farms are essential to maintain strong relationships with farmers and to ensure sustainable farming practices.
Quality Checks: Each batch of peppers is inspected for color, size, and heat level. Only the peppers that meet the strict standards are approved for processing.
Late Morning: Production Begins
Once the ingredients arrive at the production facility, the real magic begins. The production process at Modern Food Products is a well-oiled machine, designed to maximize efficiency while maintaining the highest standards of quality.
Washing and Preparing Ingredients
Cleaning: All ingredients undergo a rigorous cleaning process to remove any dirt, pesticides, or contaminants. This step is crucial for maintaining the purity and safety of the hot sauce.
Preparation: Peppers are sorted, and stems are removed. Garlic is peeled, and other ingredients are prepped according to the recipe specifications.
Mixing and Cooking
Recipe Formulation: Modern Food Products prides itself on its proprietary recipes, which are carefully guarded secrets. Each recipe is a precise blend of ingredients designed to deliver a unique flavor profile.
Cooking: The ingredients are then cooked in large vats. The cooking process is closely monitored to ensure that the flavors meld perfectly and that the sauce achieves the desired consistency. Temperature control is critical, as overheating can alter the flavor and texture of the sauce.
Afternoon: Bottling and Packaging
After cooking, the hot sauce is ready to be bottled. This stage is as crucial as the preparation and cooking stages, involving stringent hygiene and quality control measures.
Bottling Process
Sterilization: Bottles are sterilized to prevent any contamination. This is a key step in ensuring the shelf stability of the hot sauce.
Filling: The hot sauce is poured into bottles using automated machines that ensure uniformity and prevent spillage. Each bottle is filled to the exact level to maintain consistency across batches.
Labeling and Packaging
Labeling: Bottles are labeled with the brand’s distinctive design. For clients interested in hot sauce private labelling in Saudi Arabia, Modern Food Products offers customization options to create unique labels that reflect their brand identity.
Packaging: The labeled bottles are packed into boxes for distribution. Packaging is designed to protect the bottles during transit and storage, ensuring that the product reaches consumers in perfect condition.
Late Afternoon: Quality Assurance and Testing
Quality assurance is a cornerstone of Modern Food Products' operations. Throughout the day, samples from each batch are tested to ensure they meet the company’s high standards.
Sensory Evaluation
Taste Testing: A team of experienced tasters evaluates the flavor, heat level, and consistency of the hot sauce. This step ensures that every batch delivers the expected taste experience.
Visual Inspection: The color and texture of the sauce are inspected to ensure they align with the product specifications.
Laboratory Testing
Microbial Testing: Samples are tested for microbial contamination to ensure the hot sauce is safe for consumption.
Chemical Analysis: The pH levels and other chemical properties are analyzed to ensure the sauce’s stability and shelf life.
Evening: Logistics and Distribution
As the day winds down, the focus shifts to logistics and distribution. Modern Food Products, being a prominent hot sauce producer in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, has a well-established distribution network that ensures timely delivery to retailers and customers.
Inventory Management
Stock Monitoring: Inventory levels are monitored in real-time to ensure there is always enough stock to meet demand.
Order Fulfillment: Orders from retailers and private label clients are processed and prepared for shipping.
Shipping and Delivery
Distribution: The packed hot sauce bottles are loaded onto trucks for delivery to various locations across KSA. The logistics team ensures that the products are delivered on time and in perfect condition.
Export: For international clients, including those looking for a hot sauce supplier in KSA, the export team handles all the necessary documentation and logistics to ensure smooth international shipping.
Conclusion: The Passion Behind the Spice
The journey of hot sauce from farm to bottle is a testament to the dedication and passion of the team at Modern Food Products. As a leading hot sauce producer in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the company’s commitment to quality, innovation, and customer satisfaction is evident in every bottle they produce. Whether you are enjoying their signature hot sauce or benefiting from their hot sauce private labelling in Saudi Arabia, you can be sure that each drop is crafted with care and expertise.
So, the next time you reach for that bottle of hot sauce, remember the intricate process and the hardworking individuals behind it. From the early morning farm inspections to the late evening logistics operations, every step is a crucial part of bringing that fiery flavor to your table.

the food chain asks implies humans occupy about the equivalent position of plants within what humans conventionally see as normal food chains, doesn't it.
humans are essentially basic producer organisms in the gensokyo food chain yeah. the other youkai and kami can give each other fear and faith and whatnot (as a treat) but without the actual human belief at the bottom nothing in the system works. an important reminder to never take the humble vegetable for granted (or else you'll have to make a fucked up carrot zoo in the mountains of japan)
#actually now i think about it. is it more just another step in the food chain? or is it different bc it's a different type of energy at play#like the energy that youkai need is spiritual rather than biological but like. you could argue it's still produced via biological processes#much to think about.

-->And with that, it was finally off to Van Liddelton Groceries once more! Alice got to open the place up this time, though first, I had her set the prices to “Sale” (aka 15% markup) down from the regular 25% markup. Why? Because they DO NOT need the money, and I wanted to see if stuff would sell faster if it was a little cheaper. She then got sent to have some zoomies to deal with her slowly-growing Fury (no wolfing out at work!) while Victor bunked down for a nap in the break room and Smiler went out to handle the sales floor (after consulting their future cube for advice, since I wanted them to do something while waiting for customers – “the cube abides,” apparently)! Amusingly, the very first Sim to show up for the day was L. Faba – guess she was tired of Morgyn getting all the attention whenever the gang visited the Magic Realm. XD (Which reminds me, I really gotta bind Victor’s dragon familiar to him already...) Anyway, after a bit of lag, Smiler was able to let off one of their patented vampiric happiness bursts for the incoming customers and chat with Catarina Lynx for a bit to try and convince her to buy stuff –
-->And then Alice came back, and I decided that I wanted her to make some more food downstairs rather than force her to chat with customers. A decision that led to me transferring $40,000 of their household funds over to the store so I could upgrade the downstairs kitchen area with the best Schmapple fridges and ovens, and add a counter by the corner so I could put in a stand mixer, a waffle iron, and a pizza oven! All in the blue swatches, since I thought those looked nice. :) I then had Alice use the bulk food processors from Simsonian Library to process some potato flour so she could whip up a batch of dough –
-->Aaand suddenly EVERYONE WAS BUYING SHIT. Yeah, apparently cheaper prices DO encourage more sales. I quickly had Alice run up there to help Smiler with the initial rush (since Victor was still working on taking care of his needs) – Catarina picked up a loaf of cheesy bread for $71; Christen a jar of blueberry jam for $80; and Janae a small mushroom for $5. We got a brief break while some of the customers got distracted by the sight of celebrity Brytani Cho in the store (long enough for Victor to get up and go to the bathroom), but after that and another annoying case of lag, the sales started coming again, with Bella Goth grabbing a box of dried sage for $413, and L. Faba getting a box of cheese for $621. I took a moment to check downstairs and saw that Alice’s dough was ready, so I had her go downstairs and grab that –
Aaand got an LE as she did so. However, that was shortly followed by customer Olivia grabbing an avocado from the produce fridges/warming racks, so I think the LE was actually related to that – specifically, to my Brazen Lotus stuff. Meh. At least I'm pretty sure I know what it is (the game doesn’t have a proper animation to play if a Sim is getting a normally-not-allowed-in-produce-fridges item out of a produce fridge, so it goes “hey”) and that it’s not TOO game-breaking!
#sims 4#the lazy save#victor van dort#alice liddell#smiler always#yeah I'd been meaning to lower their prices for a while now#as stated they do NOT need the money#and I want to get this place emptied so I can rethink what I want to sell and how I want to sell it#thinking of going toward a more 'prepared foods' model#we will see#in the meantime you can see things remain pretty busy on the lot#good thing Smiler loves socializing :p#and Victor and Alice can tolerate it :p#and I liked upgrading the processing area downstairs with the new small appliances#looks a little more professional now#Alice seems to enjoy using everything#though now I'm thinking we should have more than one of each appliance#so we could have multiple items getting cooked at once#I mean I have two ovens and two fridges already#things to ponder as we move forward!#and yeah that LE really does seem to be related to people trying to buy things out of the produce fridge#that normally wouldn't go in a produce fridge#and since I have a mod from Brazen Lotus that allows you to put things in the produce fridge that normally don't go there#not gonna worry about it for now but#it is a factor in me considering redoing the store a bit#we'll see what happens!#queued

so i work in the produce department of a food co-op n its a pretty huge co-op (u probably know exactly which one i work at if u know literally anything abt me cuz its pretty famous n successful) in the central valley of california so like. we get SO MUCH FRUIT. SO MUCH. cuz we are partnered with dozens of local farmers and because its stone fruit season like, theres always new shit to try. so a big part of my job is spent standing in the back with my coworkers n slicing up peaches n plums n melons n sharing them with each other. n one of my coworkers was like man food always tastes better when im trying it at work, like when i take it home to eat its never as good. and i was like yknow its probably because youre standing here, taking a break from work, and sharing it with people u rly like (another blessing is that our dept is very tight knit) n everyone was like man that's so true ive never realized that. n im moving in a few months and i gotta say i really will always appreciate how much of my job was just. slicing up fruit and handing it to people i care about with a smile. ill miss that. n even just providing locally grown organic food (some of which is certified regenerative which is rly cool n i love talking to ppl abt how regenerative organic farming is sooo important for climate change) to the people who live in the valley ive spent my whole life in. i wldve enjoyed making a career at this co-op but unfortunately im too disabled + the moving thing but yeah. meditating on the good things abt my job cuz im abt to go clock in LMAO
#like theres a lot of shit stuff abt my job. like any job. but the basics of it r like really chill#n i have learned sooo much abt farming and food and growing processes and stuff#Everything we serve hot at the deli and everything in produce department is all organic which like yeah 'organic' is whatever#but i do know that pesticides and herbicides only encourage species to learn to adapt to them which will be#an increasing issue as climates continue to warm. but also its rly fucking expensive n hard to feed people when ur only#using organic growing practices. BUT WHATEVER. i see both sides#but like all our meat n stuff is local which is SUPER IMPORTANT and really awesome#im just thankful. like its never perfect but im glad i work at a place that is Really Trying at its core#and co-ops are fucking cool. i love when things are employee/community owned. period

the supermarket is perhaps one of america's most glorious achievements. a marvel in the grand scheme of history.
#people take it for granted#but if you really think about it it's a historical oddity that every town has multiple stores#with an abundance of relatively cheap food from locally produced foods to exotic foods from around the world#once upon a time you'd have to grow and process your food all on your own#or you'd have to spend a huge portion of your wages to pay someone else to do all that#and even then it would almost entirely be foods that are only available locally and seasonally

just realized something and even tho it's something very silly i feel so bad about it 😭
#i just.... sometimes i listen to ateez. i do enjoy some of their songs bc the brand of noise music they produce is interesting and fun!!!!#obvsly that doesn't mean that i stan them. no matter how pretty seonghwa and mingi are i just don't i'm not 15 anymore :)#but i know their names and i can identify some of them when they sing/rap (see: mingi jongho and hongjoong. happy bday king btw!!!)#because they have distinguishable voices even with all the vocal processing they add to their songs#however.... when it comes to what i assume is the rest of their vocal line i'm still trying to... kind of sort them out#and that's fine bc i don't listen their music that much. but their voices are similar in tone right? to me they are at least but idk!!!!#well today i just realized that i have never heard them talk. like outside of singing idk their voices. i don't watch their content#no wait i did watch that one video with san and hongjoong trying out british food........ but the point still stands!!!!!#today i was scrolling down on twt and a video of san mingi and yunho appeared and as i listened to it.... something wasn't adding up to me#and it was so weird bc? yeah that's mingi's voice. and ah okay san talks like that. but yunho???????#he has always reminded me of chanyeol. so much. so as i was listening to him talking my brain kept saying ''wasn't his voice deeper??''#and yeah it IS deep but it's not pcy deep!!!!!!!! like girl you've been fooling yourself all this time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!#in my head i keep on giving him pcy's voice which is. insane. and i don't know how i never registered it while listening to their songs#i truly feel so bad about it like it's so weird how i never realized i was doing this unconsciously YUNHO I'M SORRYYY#2 am thoughts are strange but this one has shaken me up so much like girl.... not everything is about your favorite unemployed legends!!!!#dara.t

the tragic trivia about nash’nktora that her species reproduces asexually and under normal circumstances she could cease to be the last of her kind, but because of her mutation and malnourishment she cannot create any life. and even if these things were to be “fixed”, she has been through an abundance of trauma in both body and mind. it would be incredibly dangerous one way or another.
#logs on here just to be sad about the space pupper.#ask to tag /#their way of reproduction is directly linked to their food#and isn't actually something they can turn off per say#it can only succeed or fail.#a bit similar to how birds lay unfertilized eggs.#the process is different but#'tora does fail to produce life at certain intervals#depending on how much food she's gotten.#ooc.

What I was taught growing up: Wild edible plants and animals were just so naturally abundant that the indigenous people of my area, namely western Washington state, didn't have to develop agriculture and could just easily forage/hunt for all their needs.
The first pebble in what would become a landslide: Native peoples practiced intentional fire, which kept the trees from growing over the camas praire.
The next: PNW native peoples intentionally planted and cultivated forest gardens, and we can still see the increase in biodiversity where these gardens were today.
The next: We have an oak prairie savanna ecosystem that was intentionally maintained via intentional fire (which they were banned from doing for like, 100 years and we're just now starting to do again), and this ecosystem is disappearing as Douglas firs spread, invasive species take over, and land is turned into European-style agricultural systems.
The Land Slide: Actually, the native peoples had a complex agricultural and food processing system that allowed them to meet all their needs throughout the year, including storing food for the long, wet, dark winter. They collected a wide variety of plant foods (along with the salmon, deer, and other animals they hunted), from seaweeds to roots to berries, and they also managed these food systems via not only burning, but pruning, weeding, planting, digging/tilling, selectively harvesting root crops so that smaller ones were left behind to grow and the biggest were left to reseed, and careful harvesting at particular times for each species that both ensured their perennial (!) crops would continue thriving and that harvest occurred at the best time for the best quality food. American settlers were willfully ignorant of the complex agricultural system, because being thus allowed them to claim the land wasn't being used. Native peoples were actively managing the ecosystem to produce their food, in a sustainable manner that increased biodiversity, thus benefiting not only themselves but other species as well.
So that's cool. If you want to read more, I suggest "Ancient Pathways, Ancestral Knowledge: Ethnobotany and Ecological Wisdom of Indigenous Peoples of Northwestern North America" by Nancy J. Turner

What is Green Ammonia?
Green ammonia is ammonia produced using renewable energy sources, primarily through the electrolysis of water to generate hydrogen, which is then combined with nitrogen from the air. This process eliminates carbon emissions, setting green ammonia apart from traditional ammonia production, which relies heavily on fossil fuels.
Applications of Green Ammonia
Agriculture
One of the most significant applications of green ammonia is in agriculture. Ammonia is a key ingredient in fertilizers, and its sustainable production can help reduce the carbon footprint of farming. By using green ammonia, farmers can produce food more sustainably, supporting global food security while minimizing environmental impact.
Energy Storage
Green ammonia can also serve as an effective energy carrier. It can be synthesized when there is surplus renewable energy and later converted back into hydrogen or directly used in fuel cells. This capability makes it an attractive option for balancing supply and demand in renewable energy systems.
Shipping Fuel
The maritime industry is under increasing pressure to reduce emissions. Green ammonia has emerged as a potential zero-emission fuel for ships, helping to decarbonize one of the most challenging sectors in terms of greenhouse gas emissions.
Benefits of Green Ammonia

By eliminating carbon emissions during production, green ammonia significantly reduces the environmental impact associated with traditional ammonia. This aligns with global efforts to combat climate change and achieve sustainability goals.
Energy Security
Investing in green ammonia can enhance energy security. As countries strive to reduce their dependence on fossil fuels, green ammonia offers a renewable alternative that can be produced locally, minimizing reliance on imported fuels.
Economic Opportunities
The growth of the green ammonia market presents numerous economic opportunities, including job creation in renewable energy sectors, research and development, and new supply chain dynamics. As demand increases, investments in infrastructure and technology will drive innovation.
Factors Driving the Growth of the Green Ammonia Market
Regulatory Support
Governments worldwide are implementing policies and incentives to promote the adoption of green technologies. These regulations often include subsidies for renewable energy production and carbon pricing mechanisms, making green ammonia more competitive.
Rising Demand for Sustainable Solutions
With consumers and businesses becoming increasingly aware of their environmental impact, the demand for sustainable solutions is on the rise. Green ammonia aligns with this trend, providing an eco-friendly alternative to traditional ammonia.
Advancements in Technology
Ongoing advancements in electrolysis and ammonia synthesis technologies are making the production of green ammonia more efficient and cost-effective. As these technologies mature, they will further enhance the viability of green ammonia in various applications.
Conclusion
The green ammonia market represents a promising avenue for sustainable development across agriculture, energy, and transportation sectors. As technology advances and regulatory support strengthens, green ammonia is poised to become a cornerstone of the global transition to a greener economy. Investing in this market not only contributes to environmental preservation but also opens up new economic opportunities for innovation and growth.
