Fuckboy's 2 Strategies #2

Ever wondered about... uhhhhh... Michael Jackson? Yeah. Yeah you did. Yeah. Yeah you did. Yeah. Yeah you (Note: this strategy can be instantly fucked up by Michael Jackson using either Spread Bomb or his other move that targets everyone two times in a row, so don't get too shocked if you still get a bit fucked up).

A text version of the strategy used in the video can be found here:

Use Freddy (with Swag equipped, which you can do when the menu is opened in the DeLorean cutscene.) and 80's B.B. for dealing damage to Michael Jackson with the basic Scream attack. The only expection to this is if there are two dead party members, which in that case have them spam Cakes.

Use 90's B.B. and T. Foxy to either guard (if everyone in the party is alive and both 90's B.B. and T. Foxy have more than a thousand LP remaining), use a Large Pizza on themselves (if one of their LP has reached below or close to being below a thousand), or use a Cake (if anyone in the party dies).

When using Explode with 80's B.B. make sure to also use a Cake with Freddy on the same turn, this will ensure that 80's B.B. will be pretty much instantly revived without having to use up a turn.

Biblically Accurate Toy Chica

I watched Phisnom's Five Nights at F---boy's stream recently, and it made me really think of the sheer, iconic absurdity of the series. Hostile party hats, Toy Freddy having a kid with Splash Woman, Enragement Child...and of course, the move sets. These games just wouldn't be the same without the animatronics' goofy skills. Special mentions go to Caffeine Revival, Mama Bird, and all of Toy Freddy's skills. They're so weird. I love them.

Anyway, I realized that the names of all of Toy Chica's skills end with "Wing," so I decided to take it literally and give her a wing for each skill. It gave me something to do at work during my breaks, anyway. :p

Hi, I hope you're having a decent day! I'm sorry if this is an invasive set of questions - feel free not to answer - but do you still actively like DSaF as your own creation, or is it more of a "it was fun while it lasted but i outgrew it and it's for the best to leave it behind" kind of project? Do you ever regret making the games? If you knew they would get so popular, is there anything you would have changed about them? Is there anywhere I could read more of your writing.

It fluctuates a bit. These last couple of years, I've really just been sorta nostalgic for it. I've seen a lot of people discuss those games being a source of comfort during bad times in their lives, people talking about how much the characters mean to them and it's hard not to smile when you see that.

It's a funny thing for close friends of yours to see people WITH fanmade DSaF merch out in the wild, or to watch a random youtube video and being hit with a DSaF reference outta nowhere. It happens from time to time, even today. On a few occasions, I've even had a person reference my work to me in real life and not realize who they were talking to, believe it or not. It's really fun to play dumb and get someone to explain your work to you like you don't know what it is.

I certainly didn't think any of that would happen when I first made the series, or even during development. I think the normal assumption would be to look at DSaF as it exists now and assume its release was a peak for it, but believe it or not, the official discord only had 30 people in it shortly before 3 dropped! The archive listing of the series (reposted to a single page after the series ended) is now sitting at over 1.1 MILLION downloads.

People kinda assume the true heyday of something is when it's new, when it's fresh and novel. For instance, some people look back at when FNaF itself was new and see that time as its peak because it had a lot of internet cultural relevance as big new indie thing on the block. But, raw numbers don't lie. The series has been continually growing since its conception and that growth has similarly bled over to its fan projects. This explains why DSaF, despite not having a new series release in almost 6 years, seems to be inexplicably growing.

Just recently, I saw someone post footage of a scene from DSaF 2 on Twitter, which got over 16k likes. People praised its writing and largely celebrated the scene. The ironic thing about that particular scene is that I remembered being unsure if it was good or not, so I showed it off in one of the FNaF community hubs. The response was broadly lukewarm to negative. Now, it's held up as one of the best scenes in those games. That's kind of the point I'm trying to make, my thoughts on the series have certainly changed with everyone's else with years of hindsight.

Heh. I'm not sure if I've talked about this in a long time, but y'know, the very first scene I implemented in-game was actually the very first Phone Guy scene in DSaF 1, more or less exactly how it appears in-game today. This was before I'd even written the bulk of the game. I was pretty unfamiliar with visual novels as a whole, pretty unsure if something like this would be palatable to a fandom that was really just used to sit 'n' survive stuff that were far more gameplay than text. I mean, there wasn't any FNaF fangames really LIKE DSaF before that point. Closest was FNaFb, a jokey turn based RPG made in the same engine.

The engine I made the game in is also not exactly fit for VNs out of the box either, and I wasn't 100% sure the idea would actually work. But, the very first time I added the image of the prize corner, Phone Guy, the audio of that iconic cheesy stock track and booted up a test screen, I had a little moment where I said "Oh. I think I'm onto something interesting here." I kinda remembering instantly realizing in that single moment how much potential the idea had. Over 8 years later, I still remember that moment like it was yesterday.

I think lately, that's the sort of stuff I think of when I see people coming to me and asking about the series. Yes, it's really rough around the edges, yes, there's jokes that've aged poorly. But, it is a source of comfort for people and entertains tens of thousands of people each month. And that's gotta count for something, right?

Fuckboy's 2 Strategies #1

Hello, hello! Have you ever wondered how to annihilate a child? No? Yes? It doesn't matter, you're going to find out. There's no way out.

A text version of the strategy can be found below.

Step 1: Make sure T. Freddy, T. Bonnie and T. Chica don't have any weapons equipped. This is to make them less of a threat in the situation where Giygas B.B. ends up inflicting them with High. The only party member that should keep their weapon is Mangle, with it not really mattering if it's the Plastic Hook E or the Real Hook. As long as it can damage Giygas B.B. it should work.

Step 2: Engage the boss.

Step 3: Spam X-Large Pizzas when you only have T. Freddy in the party. This will make it much more likely that you will end up surviving the first part of this fight. Four X-Large Pizzas should work perfectly fine for this part.

Step 4: Once T. Bonnie ends up entering the party, begin spamming Large Pizzas with the both of them. This is to lower the chances of a really unlucky double Spread Bomb absolutely wiping out the party.

Step 5: Once T. Chica enters the party then the real strategy may actually begin. It is a simple one (but one that might also end up taking a while if you're unlucky). Here is what you should do with each party member during this step: T. Freddy: Keep guarding just in case Giygas B.B. ends up targeting him. Him taking hits for the party is pretty much the best he can do, although if another party member ends up dying then it is obviously recommended to have him use up a Cake. T. Bonnie: Spam Status Bomb. That's really it, he does not use any items for the most part, only guarding for TP or using Status Bomb. With this strategy we are specifically hoping for Status Bomb to end up inflicting the Poison state, since this is what the strategy pretty much comes down to, but Blind and High are both also very useful states to inflict. T. Chica: On permanent item/healing duty. It is recommended to keep everyone in the party above a thousand LP, since otherwise an unlucky Spread Bomb can end up dealing major damage. If there is no one to heal then simply just guard with her to avoid taking any big damage. Mangle (once she ends up joining the party): Also on permanent item duty for most of the battle. It may feel tempting to use Paravolt with her but for the sake of this strategy it is highly not recommended, especially since Giygas B.B. attacking T. Bonnie can be extremely useful for gaining quicker access to Status Bomb.

Step 6: Keep hoping for Poison. This is the most important step and the part that will take the longest, all you have to really do is just follow what I wrote for each party member above. It should take at least three Poison states before the LP of Giygas B.B. is low enough for the final step. It is recommended to either get his LP Bar to either be completely empty or only have a tiny bit of color remaining before moving on to the final step.

Step 7: Use Mangle's Electroshock skill to finally finish him off. Depending on how low his LP ended up getting (it will most likely be very close to 10% LP remaining) it should only really take 1-3 turns just using Electroshock before he ends up dying.

Step 8: Celebrate the slow death of a child.

Hey dogman, just wanted to say that I really appreciate you for making Dialtown. While I haven’t gotten around to playing it yet, I did see a gameplay of the first part from somebody on YouTube, and it was so darn amazing! Good work :)

I also have two questions that I have in my mind:

1: Will Dialtown ever get any other translations? Or it will just be English?

2: This is a DSaF-related question, but I was just REALLY curious and this was in the back of my head for a while. For Breadbear, I saw it’s origin, and it was somebody on the Freddit that made a photoshop version of Fredbear a LONG time ago. Did you add that in the game as a Easter egg? Or just thought it would be pretty funny in general.

1)It'd be so much work to translate. I'd only have it translated if the english version did well enough to warrant me going to a reputable company/service that could translate the game without destroying its humour completely... Given the size of the game, I find this eventuality unlikely. 2)Breadbear, like all of the fnafb references in DSaF, is kind of a relic. Breadbear was a community meme in 2015 era fnaf's community. When I added breadbear to DSaF 1, everybody got the joke because it was a popular meme at the time. What I didn't expect though, was the meme kinda dying off within a year and DSaF being STILL popular literally HALF A DECADE after DSaF 1's release. So, yeah, no, Breadbear's a community meme, and it was always meant to be understood as being smth that originated from the community, outside of DSaF, it just didn't have DSaF's staying power, so the reference got lost.
