After his mother is taken away, Dumbo is seen standing on his own, swaying sadly from side to side. This is actually an accurate depiction of what elephants do when they are emotionally distraught. x

Happy 83rd Anniversary, Dumbo
Tumblr media
Today is the 83rd Anniversary of Disney's Dumbo. It had been 83 years since we've seen Dumbo the Flying Elephant become the star of the show in the circus.
He was a baby elephant who lives with the circus. His ears were so big everyone teased him, but one day, he used them to fly, which is what made him so special.

Eeki Eeki Escape is Awa’s spin on the traditional Dumbo-style flat ride. The highly detailed giant squid has various fish in its grasp and the eyes and beak light up at night.

Theory: Dumbo is half African elephant. Doesn't explain the flight but explains the ears. The other elephants are all Indian.

I know they were very mean to that elephant but, objectively, “Dumbo” is a very weak insult. Especially when the creatures intelligence is hardly the funniest thing about him.

"Just smile and wave, Lucas. Do what I do." Mickey whispered to Lucas as the Disney toons applauded. "Good to see ya! Welcome back to the House!" Mickey spoke to the crowd. The three Hyenas; Shenzi, Banzai and Ed applauded, the Monochrome Toons clapped, and so did Pocahontas as her long hair flowed in the air because of the wind, and her pet raccoon, Meeko took the cookies.
"We have a special show that won't be forgotten." Mickey smiled until the lights were dimming. "Looks like we forgot about the electric bill, though." He stated as Minnie noticed.
"Horace! Lights!" Minnie said on her walkie-talkie to Horace Horsecollar as he saw the problem. "Out of the way, Dumbo!" Horace spoke for Dumbo the Flying Elephant to move his body out of the way of the spotlight. "Wow! Looks like we got a full house! And not just a full house of cards, eh, Lucas?" Mickey asked to Lucas, bringing up the Queen of Hearts' Card Soldiers, as the crowd chuckled.
"And now, having a new co-host to help run the show, it's Mickeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeey Mouse!" Mike shouted giving Mickey his introduction as he slides onto the stage. "Hey, hey, everybody! Good to see ya!" Mickey greeted to the Disney Toons.
"Introducing my co-host, a friend to all, you at least know him, Lucas!" Mickey said giving Lucas his signal.

Cephalopod lovers, have you ever heard of the Dumbo octopus? 🐙 Members of the genus Grimpoteuthis, these critters are the deepest-living octopus known to science and can be found near the seafloor at depths of up to 13,000 ft (4,000 m). These adorable cephalopods flap their ear-like fins as they move through the water—a behavior that inspired scientists to name the genus Grimpoteuthis after Disney’s flying elephant. Unlike many other octopuses, Dumbo octopuses do not have ink sacs. Some scientists think it’s because they rarely encounter predators in their extremely remote, deep-sea habitats.
