idk why i thought ab this but imo adler isn’t huge on pda BUTTT he is serious about silent gestures of care + affection. being cia means his head is perpetually on a swivel buttt when it comes to the mundane he is constantly in tune with what you want and need, from the superficial to the serious.

dress you did a double take at past a boutique? it’s mysteriously hanging in your closet the next time you get dressed. he hears you sigh to yourself about the leaky faucet? it’s fixed, though you never recall touching it. you start waking up every day with a crick in your neck? hm, suddenly you swear these pillows somehow feel more plush, more comfortable, different. obsessing over a certain song you keep hearing on the radio? somehow you find the whole album in your record collection.

foot rubs without question after you take off your heels you’ve worn all day; dishes washed and house cleaned even though you’re sure you’ve both been busy at work; quietly doing up a button on the back of your dress without even telling you that you’ve missed it.

he’d spoil you to heaven and back in the tiniest ways and you won’t even notice it enough to insist that you don’t deserve it. somehow, you just think life got strangely easier when adler walked into it.

re: sex, power, and hannigram (the bees in my head have struck again)

y'all know the quote, everything in the world is about sex, except sex – sex is about power? Will, someone who has been consistently denied agency and power in his life especially by Hannibal, and Hannibal, a man who has kept himself under such strict control around other people, despite desperately craving true connection to another person – sex would be a natural extension and exploration of these pre-existing dynamics. 

Will and Hannibal’s entire relationship is based on their emotional and intellectual connection as they play this cat and mouse game where the power dynamics are fluid and unstable! the mental arousal they provide one another is an integral part of their connection. and that’s what attracts and excites them! and you know what increased psychological arousal leads to (or at the very least, enhances)? physical arousal!! 

which brings me to my next point: we know that Will is mentally aroused by the prospect of both saving and taking lives (s/o to our boy Chilton, man was a rat, but he was right!) because doing bad things to bad people feels good. 

so when Will finally Becomes by killing the dragon with Hannibal and they start exploring how they kill together, of course bloodlust and regular old lust are going to start blurring. not because either of them are sexual sadists who get off on the act of murdering someone, but instead on the power they each hold over death, the thrill of being truly seen and accepted by the other. 

not to mention the fact that sex provides an outlet for some of their more destructive urges, as well as a way to rebuild trust and psychological safety, two things they haven’t really had much of?? which is not to say that i believe everything they’d do would be safe, sane, or consensual, but i do think they’d be providing each other with what they each authentically need to move forward with one another. 

basically, i'm trying to say Hannibal tried his own brand of therapy on Will and look where it got them. i think the next logical progression would be sex as therapy and therapy as sex.

i just wanna let you know that your godpoke reminded me of mumriks and moomin in general and sent me down the brain rabbit hole, hitting the roots of "oh hey moomin creatures are awesome" -> "pattypoke as snufmin my brain is huge" -> "wait yeah snufkin is like half mumrik i wanna look into those now" -> "mumrik godpoke the world is beautiful" -> "i will now make an entire personal reference of these cat trolls just for this little godpoke"

It just sounds so special coming from him. He makes Buck, Evan, feel special. “But I can take care of myself.” “I know you can. But you don’t have to.” Buck shrugs, and if that’s even possible, Tommy’s face shifts into something even softer, filled with affection and awe and endearment. Something else flashes through his eyes, something Buck thinks he recognizes, but it’s way too early for either of them to feel or say it. They’re definitely getting there, though, quicker than he’d ever expect.
