Merfolk Courting Rituals | TWST
Octavinelle Dorm X Reader
Azul X Reader, Jade X Reader, Floyd X Reader,
---- Merfolk typically have instinctual ways they begin 'courting' or a relationship, in the deep sea you need to be sure of your partner after all. (Non-Human courting rituals part 2/3)
Savanaclaw Ver. | Diasomnia Ver.
Floyd:
It was spring when it happened. Almost summer. The days we’re warming up and everyone was suffering a bit for it.
Usually, you would be able to go about your business alone, or perhaps with the company of Grim if he felt like it. Today however, a certain eel was towering over your shoulder. “Shrimpy~” he’d giggle, a shiver was sent down your spin at his voice.
You slowly turned around. “A-ah? Hey Floyd…” you smiled warily. You usually, like most people in school, avoided the eel like the plague. He flashed his sharp teeth at you and extended his hand, the other one in his pocket in a more relaxed manner then your posture.
“A tooth…?” You squinted at the item, it was pointy: like his own teeth.
Realistically, you didn’t really wanna hold this. Not that you’d tell him that. You glanced up at him again and saw those same teeth, not a single one out of place. “Do ya like it?~”
He leaned closer to your face, his eyes widened ever so slightly in a more intimidating manner. Clearly his lack of personal space had never changed. “Um… yes! I do…?!” You were quick to awnser back.
Pleased with himself, he giggled loudly and walked away.
What was that about?
After that he’d keep approaching you with odd gifts… at one point he presented you with the largest pearl you’ve ever laid your eyes on and then the next day he gifted you with a handful of beautiful scales.
You dreaded to think about the poor mer behind that gift…
Either way, this was suspicious, right? When Floyd leech approached you, you either run away or get squeezed, why were you getting gifts? It also didn’t help your relationship with the Housewarden of Heartslabyul, who now avoids you like the plague.
Seriously, when you walk into a room Riddle happened to be in, he jumps up and leaves immediate- sometimes even running away like you were his tormentor instead of Floyd!
You’d also noticed that Floyd would yawn more around you… You didn’t think you were boring either because he wouldn’t be around you if you were boring to begin with! “Are you getting enough sleep?”
“Eh? Shrimpy doesn’t like me?” Floyd pouted, You noticed him glance at your mouth breifly. “Shrimpy~ that’s rude.” He’d whine louder, a darker look in his eyes than usual. You had no clue if you had offended him or not that time…
Another time was this happened. It actually happened far more often than you would think or enjoy.
“Shrimpy~” he’d say repeatedly to annoy you while you walked around school. Like when a sibling kept poking at you and claiming they weren’t touching you, but he had his hands behind his head as he followed behind you a bored expression on his face. He had been hanging around you more.
Sadly that meant your friends were less likely to approach you. And if they did it was because they neglected to see the towering eel boy.
“My, My, Floyd had taken quite a liking to you.” Jade stated offhandedly one day. You were at the Mostro Lounge (Azul was tired of Floyd skipping work and offered you free meals to hang out so Floyd would get back to work.)
You glanced at the Eel with a confused look. “What do you mean?” He simply looked down at the small necklace you had made with Floyd’s… gifts of a tooth and scales. I’m your defense they made very nice jewelry. Was it a bit messed up to be wearing some students scale and possibly their tooth? Perhaps… but you were poor and wanted something nice to wear.
With the same odd mysterious smile, Jade was off to serve the next costumer.
So you took it upon yourself to figure out what that meant!
First you went asking around Octavinelle. This was a bad idea because most students avoid you like you were Floyd.
Thankfully you managed to corner one, A trembling student you was glancing behind and around you the whole while you talked to him. "So?" You finally asked, a hand on your hip.
"Uh... What? C-could you repeat the question...?" He finally looked to you.
"Whats up with Floyd!" You finally snapped a bit, with a groan and a small eyeroll you glared at the smallfry.
"A-aren't you his...?"
"What on earth does that mean..." You groaned in annoyance too yourself. You were still, very, extremely lost.
Jade:
Whatever do you mean? You started courting him first if he wasn’t mistaken.
It was a Monday afternoon during autumn you believed, when he was serving you in the Mostro Lounge while you were studying. (They had a exclusive deal that lasted only that day) It was pretty late and so, you, like a very normal human, yawned. “My, If I’m not mistaken this is hardly that time of year.” He replied slyly as he gave you your half off drink.
You just glanced at him in confusion as he bowed and excused himself, ever the polite waiter.
That was… odd.
What was stranger was, now Jade has this habit of gifting you things he found on his hikes. It started with a flower to then a mushroom and for some reason he had gifted you a rock? He said he found it “fascinating” So he gifted it to you.
You didn’t really know either…
This whole issue began to intimidate you. I mean, Jade leech, gifting you things? There had to be some kind of motive behind it! There is always a motive behind the Octa-trios advances.
So, not wanting to owe him anything, you began gifting him things in return. “I found this at the store and thought you might like it.” You’d smile warily and a bit nervously as you extended a hand, in it a Dorsel Fin candy.
He’d smile and accept your gift, you’d breath a sigh of relief and go about your day as usual. At least now you didn’t owe him anything!
Now it became a habit, or a fun little game! Whenever Jade would gift you something, you’d look for something of equal value or better! Something he’d like. You’d attempt to one up him, but it was as if he knew about your game somehow and wasn’t letting you win.
Eventually it started to become something else, he was just... always there now? You'd turn around and almost scream! Because: was he there the whole time?
The worst part? He helped you so much more than half the time you turned around, and he wasn't there, you wished he was. He was making your life harder by not being there!
Here is the thing, you can't just get someone use to having a nice, helpful helping hand who is also attractive and then just take that away! Its inhumane.
You gifted him a terrarium you made yourself.
You didn't know why you did it. Maybe you liked his company and wanted to show your appreciation, maybe it was just because you were fond of him.
It was pretty out of the blue as well. You had been working on it for a week now, it wasn't anything remotely at Jade's own level but it was nice. (It better have been because that hike to gather everything almost killed you.)
Was it worth it? Yes. Seeing his eyes widen slightly before he regained his composure was absolutely worth it. He almost had to cough into his hand in Suprise.
Jade wasn't the most expressive, but you had a few ideas of what his Suprise would be look like. "Do you like it?"
"I do perfect. Thank you."
Note: Jade will never confess. It'll be one of those relationships where you don't know how it started but now your married so... Have fun!
Azul:
He was hopeless. Everybody knew this simple fact, except of course: you.
He was a businessman, not a... romance man!
From the way he'd tug at his tie like it was choking him when you were around, to how flushed he'd get when you even glanced in his direction. This guy was absolutely hopeless.
He actually turned... A very bright red was he turning purple as well? and immediately fixes his posture when you're in the room.
Thankfully, it takes two to tango and you were interested in him as well.
So, yeah, it was up to you to pursue the shady businessman who isn't very shady around you and instead acts like, in his own words, "an idiot."
So, no... he doesn't exactly court you. You court him.
You bring him cool things you find, blabber on about what you like and what you think he would like. He was... very confused and flustered, but happy you were there.
It was only after you took an active role in the relationship that he relaxed slightly and began to play along. Giving gifts back and ranting about the business and some poor unfortunate soul he scammed helped.
As everything began to relax in your guy's relationship. It got too comfortable, well, comfortable wasn't the right word. He was comfortable, you were suffering.
Why wasn't he making a move?! Didn't he like you?
Meanwhile, he was feeling pretty good. Jade and Floyd had gotten to a place where they don't tease him as much about not being able to make a move with you. (He didn't you made all the moves.) And his crush was showering him with attention!
You'd glance at him nervously while you sat at Mostro Lounge. He was counting his contracts. His new ones he had started to reaccumulate.
You physically couldn't hold it back anymore. It had been a week. A whole week of nothing new happening between the two of you. The words fell from your lips fast, like rushing water you tried to hold back but couldn't. It would have always slipped through the cracks in your fingers anyway... So you asked him, the burning question. "I like you. Do you like me...?" You finally blurted out.
"What?" He froze up. His head whipping in your direction he didn't know what to do or say and- he was ruining this wasn't he?
Azul had always been an anxious boy, it helped him- Because despite those anxieties he'd show them. he'd overcome them! He always had. But what do you do exactly when the person your heart has been beating oddly for asked that?
"I- um..." was all you needed before you stood up and left. Trying to fight back the small burn that began in your eyes before you cried. "Wait!" He called out but you had been out the door far too soon to even remotely hear him.
It was... a whole thing. He hated it, you hated it, and despite him refusing to admit it, you both cried over it. You always did love the classic miscommunication trope. But it happened. And frankly, you' prefer it this way in the long run. Because when everything was cleared up...
You got to kiss the octopus boy!
A smile on your face when you pulled away, he stared at you slightly shocked but very happy.
In a side note, after you kissed him, he wondered around aimlessly for a good while before he broke out of whatever spell you put him under. (You're still the magicless perfect of ramshackle...)
___________
Note: Floyd is my favorite. I hope you could tell lol Do I adore Azul? Yes! Was he the last one I wrote so it was kind of rushed and not very long? Also yes... I tried to make it a bit special-er?

𝓒𝓸𝓾𝓵𝓭 𝓲𝓽 𝓫𝓮?
How would the NRC boys fall for their beloved prefect?
! 𝒪𝒸𝓉𝒶𝓋𝒾𝓃𝑒𝓁𝓁𝑒 𝐸𝒹𝒾𝓉𝒾𝑜𝓃 !
~~~~~~
𝓐𝔃𝓾𝓵 𝓐𝓼𝓱𝓮𝓷𝓰𝓻𝓸𝓽𝓽𝓸
The poor boy. He was so confused
He had no idea what it was at first
It’s not like your grades were anything remarkable and you were completely magicless. Completely average, so why were you so alluring?
Even worse, you were completely throwing him off
Azul was incredibly skilled at concealing his intentions and emotions, but you seemed to be immune to it
His eye would twitch slightly, and the corners of his mouth would tug gently at his cheeks. His eyes wavered before you and his pupils dilated
The tweels are subjected to all his rants about you
That look you gave him in class, the thing you said to him in the hall, the way your eyes lifted when you smiled, and how your laugh lit up the room. How dare you?
Jade and Floyd gave each other a knowing look. They know.
Everyone does.
The prefect was the only one who was able to peel away Azul's composure, it didn't take long for people to realize Azul's predicament
Azul's favorite part about you is your thighs. He won't admit it, but he loves how squishy they look.
His main love language is physical touch. He really needs a hug, and he rarely gets physical affection due to his cold exterior (even though he really needs it)
You were almost always the one to initiate contact because most of them time he’d be too much of a fumbling mess to approach you
Azul didn’t completely understand the feeling. He thought it wasn’t anything beyond healthy rivalry between you two. But sometimes, he’d think about what it’d be like to hold your hand. To walk with you to class. He didn’t really understand it, but he knew it was there
Since Azul was not usually the one to approach you first, you were encouraged by the tweels to go up to him instead.
You approached him in Mostro Lounge, where you guys would usually talk. You chose a convenient time, when the lounge was almost completely empty, and Azul would be working in his study
If you decide to clear the air and express your disinterest, there will a flash of clear disappointment in Azul’s face before he does his best to cover it up. He’ll try to convince himself there is nothing to be too upset about because he hasn’t had time to process. He’d avert his gaze in the halls and act more passive towards you. Being too close will just undo everything he tried to cover.
If instead, you decide to plant a kiss on his cheek, Azul couldn't be happier. He'd be caught off guard by the sudden gesture unable to form a coherent sentence, although showing no sign of disagreement.
Behind the door, Jade and Floyd knew that they had succeeded in their wingman service
Azul would be quite shy at first, but as time went on, he'd become much more confident. This was all very new to him after all.
Expect him to take you out to NICE dinner. He knows all the best spots. Especially in his hometown.
It did take him more time to show you his merform, but he was always assured that you'd never judge him. He's grown way more used to it by now and lets you see it regularly
His favorite spot to kiss you in is the thighs (no surprise there). They are as squishy as they looked, and so very plush against his lips.
His favorite spot to be kissed is his jaw. It feels very intimate to him and this gives him a lot of security and comfort, knowing how close you two are
𝓙𝓪𝓭𝓮 𝓛𝓮𝓮𝓬𝓱
Hmm, love?
Is it? Not quite
Although, Jade does admit to how much he enjoys teasing you during and outside of class
But it's purely because of your reactions! How entertaining they are
He could look at the puff of your cheeks and the quirk of your brow all day
All while giving you that condescending smirk
And yet, his demeanor flips when you two are alone
Out on hikes, he'd often catch himself spacing out on your profile
He'd stare for a while, but never long enough to let you catch him
Although the expressions you made when he teased you would always amuse him, he liked the natural ones that you made unconsciously best.
The concentrated look in your eyes as you do Crewel's homework, the small part of your lips when you're paying attention to Trein's lesson, and the light small that always creeps up to your lips when you see him
It's fascinating to see how telling your visage can be
You are so easy to read, yet you are always full of surprises for him
He catches himself wanting more. To spend more time with you, to go on further hikes with him. He'd love to take you around his hometown for the sake of hanging out with you.
Floyd noticed right away when Jade was acting a little more cheery than usual. Call it a Tweel 6th sense if you will
Jade wasn’t exactly too keen on hiding it. His usual teasing gradually leaning to flirting with you
There was also a change in his possessiveness. Jade would get a little bit touchy with you when he noticed other students staring. He’d pull you in closer to him, sometimes even lightly sling his arm over your waist
Jades favorite part of you are your lips. Besides how kissable they look, he really likes you dynamic they can be in telling him your mood
Jade needed to tell you, whether you felt the same way or not. After school, you'd usually come around Octavinelle to do complete homework or simply hang around. Jade took this as an opportunity to strike the conversation with you
If you held Jade's hand in consolation, his face would grow cold. He'd make an unreadable face disguising layers of disappointment even he was surprised by. He'd reassure you that nothing would change between you two, but that was not entirely incorrect. He'd continue to be around you, but half of the intent would be lost and a trace of sadness would be caught in his eyes. The feelings wouldn't quite go away, but now he knew they were unrequited
If you looked at Jade with wide eyes and an unmistakable smile on your face, he'd give you a light smile back, completely concealing the overwhelming joy and warmth he felt inside.
If only you could see the fanfare going on in his mind
Jade would excitedly take you out on various hiking dates and cook up all the mushrooms you guys found later in his dorm
Just because you guys are together now doesn't mean he'll lay off the teasing. AT ALL
He would so enjoy watching you drift off on days when you were tired, offering his shoulder as a headrest
He is very confident showing you his merform, even when you guys were just friends. He has no problem with it at all.
His favorite place to kiss you is along your legs. So long and so perfect for him to leave trails of marks and kisses
His favorite spot to be kissed on is his nape specifically. Its somewhat of a sensitive spot for him.
𝓕𝓵𝓸𝔂𝓭 𝓛𝓮𝓮𝓬𝓱
Floyd oh Floyd
Being honest, did he have a clue what it was?
All he knew was that Lil Shrimpy was much too fun to be around
He’d never get tired or bored around them. Even his mood didn’t fluctuate as much when he was with them.
Your spontaneousness and willingness to go along with everything were just few of the many things he unconsciously loved about you
Floyd would also unconsciously get jealous whenever he’d see Little Shrimpy talking to other guys. He wanted to join in the fun too
Floyd has been cooking lots of food for you lately as well, beginning to obstruct his job at Mostro Lounge, leaving Azul at his wit's end
Everyday after school he’d barge in to Ramshackle as if the dorm was his own and take you out to see what kind of things you’d do today
Floyd was always a touchy person, so nobody could really notice when he started to softly squeeze you (he learned it’s called a hug) more often, and find ways to feel and touch your hands
Jade, however, could. He was the first one to know, even before Floyd himself realized what it was. It’s the Tweel 6th sense !
Floyd has shown you his merform multiple times. He’s really proud of it, and loves seeing your reactions to it each time
Because Floyd was absolutely clueless, he would also say things that were horribly incriminating without giving it a thought
Like, for example, if he saw you wearing a new shirt to school that looked flattering on you, he’d comment on it without thinking about it because he genuinely just doesn’t know (or experience often) the concept of love beyond bonds shared between families and friends
He’d also just straight up tell you how much he likes you. It’s really obvious to everyone but him
Floyd’s love language is quality time, physical touch, and surprisingly, acts of service. Doing favors for you and other people around him are just one of the ways he shows he cares. Squeezing you gently feels so special to him since the majority of the physical contact he engages in isn’t usually affectionate
Although, he’s slowly starting to open his eyes.the more time he spends with you the more he realizes you valuable you’ve become to his daily routine. A day without you just isn’t the same.
His favorite part of your was your belly. Flat or round didn’t matter to him. He was perfectly content as long as he he could stuff it full of his cooking
Because of Floyd’s lack of understanding and experience on the matter, it was really up to you to decide if you wanted to warm up to him or not.
If you thought that letting him too close isn’t what you want, you’d have to make it really really clear because if Floyd hasn’t come to terms with his feelings, he won’t handle rejection as easily either. He’ll be really heartbroken that one day, Little Shrimpy decided that it’s time to distance themselves. Although it’ll take trial and error, he’ll understand the message eventually. Floyd can be really intense, and even downright terrifying, but he’ll understand if it’s about you. Do give him time to process
Otherwise, if your intentions align with his, expect Floyd to notice this slowly. However, when he gets the hint, he will reach a whole new level of comfort with you. Really touchy as well. Slowly, it’ll click to him what he’s been feeling. He’ll understand and he’ll really try to treat you the best he can
Expect lots of PDA. It’s become like a second nature to him. He’d stay attached to you all day if he could
He’d take you on the best dates too. It’s a new thing every week. Never ending supply of ideas
Floyd’s favorite place to kiss you is your chest. It’s at perfect height when he lifts you up in his arms
His favorite spot to be kissed on is his neck. It always sends shivers and butterflies. It never fails to surprise him.
Trash Novel Chronicles: My Consort Calls Me Shrimpy || Floyd Leech
You get isekaid into a novel where the perfect Empress got absolutely wrecked by the plot, and now you have to juggle a bland heroine, a traitorous consort, and a delightfully unhinged eel who’s oddly good at solving your problems.
Series Masterlist
You’re about three hours deep in line, squashed between a woman wearing an unsettling amount of dragon-themed jewelry and some dude intensely vaping in front of you. The line inches forward at the pace of continental drift, and you’re in no mood to be here.
You're here out of pure, misguided loyalty to your best friend, who’s practically shaking with excitement at the idea of meeting their favourite author—the world-renowned queen of girlboss fantasy.
In a valiant effort to distract yourself from your eternal boredom, you pull up her previous novels on your phone. Maybe, if you understood her work better, you’d understand why people would willingly spend this many hours standing on asphalt.
After skimming through some of her top titles, you can barely believe these are real book plots: Slaying the Patriarchy with My Stilettos? Lipstick and Blood Magic? Each one more ridiculous than the last, filled with protagonists who blast their enemies with a "feminine fury" and, honestly, you're just not buying it.
Why did I agree to this? you think, suppressing the urge to gnaw on your own hand out of boredom.
Suddenly, you spot a stray bird above—a pigeon, wobbling through the sky like it's had one too many lattes. You barely register the bird's existence until it lets out an alarming squawk and, in a tragic twist of fate, plummets from the heavens right towards your head.
In a perfect shot, it bonks you directly in the face, knocking you backward with an impressively dramatic flair. You spiral down, your vision blurring as you fall in slow motion, gasping.
In the last seconds of your consciousness, as chaos erupts around you, one solemn thought echoes through your mind: I hate pigeons.
And with that, you drift off into oblivion, serenaded by the panicked cries of your best friend and the distant wail of someone’s Lipstick and Blood Magic audiobook playing on full blast nearby.
You wake up, blink, and immediately realize that your bed is both way too luxurious and way too large. Rich, velvet curtains drape around you, shimmering with gold embroidery.
A chandelier overhead sparkles with enough jewels to fund at least three public libraries. The air smells like a mixture of incense, rose petals, and maybe faint hints of… burning tyranny?
Oh, dear God. You’ve been isekai’d.
Straight into that novel you were doom-scrolling through to survive the crushing boredom of line-waiting.
Your mind reels back to the summary you’d read. The heroine, a weepy maid with all the emotional range of wet toast. The consort, a charming traitor with “dreamy eyes” who betrays his own Empress for said toast. And then, of course, the villainess.
That poor, genius Empress who actually had talent and ambition, who could annihilate anyone with a flick of her wrist and yet was somehow destined to lose it all because of a love triangle involving a glorified housekeeper.
And now—you are that Empress. The Villainess Extraordinaire, Scourge of Kingdoms, War-Waging Prodigy, Mary Sue on Steroids… and now you're stuck in this tragic play of bad romance tropes.
You shoot upright in bed, taking it all in. Lavish room. Silk sheets. Jewels littered around like confetti. And then you notice a presence by your bedside. You whip your head to see… her. The heroine.
She's standing there, looking down at you with the wide-eyed wonder of someone who hasn’t yet discovered a single personality trait. Her face is soft, angelic, and you already know that beneath those doe eyes lies… absolutely nothing.
She's here to dress you, a task that apparently requires thirty minutes of excessive hair-braiding, enough layers to construct a mattress, and endless, mind-numbing conversation about the consort.
Oh, right. The consort. Your dear, disloyal boy toy who’ll soon be scheming against you. He’s probably off somewhere sharpening his cheekbones in a mirror, wondering if he can pull off “soulful yet traitorous” in the same expression.
The heroine starts tugging on your hair, a bit too enthusiastically for your taste. "Your Majesty," she coos, “Your consort was asking for you yesterday. He misses your attention."
You mentally scream. I'm running an empire, Susan! Who cares about his feelings right now? You're barely awake, freshly isekai'd, and trying to mentally tally your enemies, not exactly in the mood for his fragile ego.
And, technically, aren’t you the one in need of support here? Not the consort, who apparently needs a throne, a palace, and a shoulder to cry on every two hours.
"Oh," you manage to reply, voice dripping with an irritation that you pray she interprets as imperial grace. "Tell him… I’m thinking about military reforms."
The heroine’s eyes flicker in confusion. "Military reforms?"
"Yes. Reforms. Vital to the stability of our empire." You wave a hand, and she clearly has no idea what you're talking about. This maid was not hired for her intellectual curiosity, that’s for sure.
Then comes the worst part: her doe eyes start misting over. Great. You forgot. Crying is, apparently, her most crucial skill set. She clutches a sleeve to her chest, looking at you as if you’ve announced the arrival of a natural disaster. "Your Majesty… but what about your consort?"
You take a deep breath. Focus. How did this woman end up so crucial to the plot? What was it about her that was supposed to outshine an entire empire? It’s as if she’s constructed entirely from damp tissues and vague romantic inclinations. And this is the girl who’s going to take you down?
But you’re already devising a plan. You’ll keep tabs on her. Outwardly, you’ll play the role of the intimidating yet graceful Empress, while inwardly making sure that neither she nor the consort gets a single chance to stab you in the back. And as for the consort himself…
Well, when he finally arrives for his “audience,” you’ll be sure to give him the warmest, most menacing smile in your arsenal. For now, you’ll have to endure the heroine’s dramatic sniffles and the hundred layers of fabric she’s convinced you need.
As she fiddles with a particularly elaborate golden sash, you look at her with an eyebrow raised. “Tell me,” you say, feigning curiosity. “What would you do if the palace were to… burn down?”
Her face goes blank for a second. Then, she frowns and wrinkles her nose as if this question is somehow unsolvable. “Um… cry?”
Of course. Absolutely riveting. You sigh and try to look satisfied, which is hard when you’re mentally questioning how this woman has a heartbeat, let alone plot armor thick enough to take you down.
By the time she finishes with your dress, you've already come up with about sixteen ways to save the empire and seventy-two reasons why this love triangle is absolutely ridiculous.
In the mirror, you catch a glimpse of yourself. You’re the picture of beauty and deadly grace, an unstoppable Empress who could wield the fate of kingdoms.
And they want to reduce you to a footnote in the saga of this girl’s whimpering romance?
Well, that’s not happening. You’ve read the novel; you know how this story ends. And now that you’re here, you’re rewriting that ridiculous fate.
You try to keep a dignified expression, but inside, you’re screaming.
The entire reason you’ve gathered the harem is to graciously cut them loose and rid yourself of the ongoing melodrama. Because if there are no consorts, there’s no backstabbing love triangle, no tearful betrayals, and no doomed political coups.
You can practically taste the freedom already—so you clear your throat and begin, putting on your most diplomatic voice:
"Esteemed consorts,” you say, hands clasped. “Thank you for your service and devotion. You are now free to leave and may claim land and titles if you wish to remain in the empire.”
You pause, waiting for cheers or at least some relieved sighs. Instead, dead silence. You glance around and spot the heroine sneaking glances at the traitor consort, eyes brimming with pure unadulterated… something.
She looks like she’s five seconds away from throwing herself across a fainting couch. The consort looks at her for a moment and then back at you, entirely unimpressed.
Maybe they’re just in shock, you think, trying to keep it together. Maybe they need a moment to process the incredible gift of freedom you’ve just given them.
But then, from the back of the room, someone clears their throat—Floyd Leech. He raises his hand, a gleeful glint in his eye that makes your stomach churn.
See, Floyd was not a character that should’ve belonged in this novel. The man was unhinged. Slightly terrifying, if you’re being honest. He treated warfare like a casual hobby and had a grin that said I could absolutely cause problems on purpose.
And the worst part? Floyd was actually one of the few who stuck around in the original plot. After the Empress dies on the battlefield, he takes her body back to his home country, out of sheer love.
He's also the only one who got to call the Empress Regnant herself "Shrimpy" and lived to tell the tale. You'd swoon over the romantic implications if you weren't that same Empress who had bigger problems right now.
You steel yourself. “Yes, Floyd?”
“Can I stay?” he says, looking entirely too happy. “These other guys are boring, but you’re kinda fun to watch.” He stares at you like you’re some sort of exotic animal in a zoo. “Besides,” he adds, throwing an arm over a very uncomfortable-looking consort, “who’s gonna protect you if I leave? These losers?”
God help you.
Before you can even answer, the traitor consort steps forward, expression so intense you can feel it from across the hall. He clears his throat dramatically. “My Empress,” he says, taking a deep, tragic breath. “My heart is bound to you, like—like the tides to the moon. Like—”
In the background, the heroine lets out an audible, swooning sigh. Oh, please, you think. You’ve seen better monologues in toothpaste commercials. The consort glances at the heroine, clearly confused, then goes back to gazing at you with what he probably thinks is soulful longing.
Meanwhile, Floyd is grinning at him, shark-like. “Nice speech, buddy,” he says, clapping the guy on the back hard enough that the consort nearly goes sprawling. “But I think she liked mine better.” He leans in to whisper, loudly, “Besides, I bet you don’t even know her favorite food.”
The consort’s face scrunches. “Do you?”
“Nope!” Floyd beams, looking at you as if expecting some kind of reward. “But I’m gonna figure it out.”
The consort looks like he wants to protest, but before he can, another one of the harem—Lord Something-or-Other—steps forward, visibly shaking with emotion. He kneels, clutching a hand to his heart as if he’s about to propose.
“My Empress,” he says, voice wobbling with way too much sincerity. “Without you, my life is a barren wasteland. I would rather endure the endless, scorching sands of—”
“Oh, for crying out loud,” Floyd groans. “Do you guys hear yourselves?”
“Can you not mock me while I pour my heart out?” Lord Something-or-Other snaps back.
“Sure I can. I’m multi-talented,” Floyd replies with a grin that’s somehow both playful and threatening. He leans against the throne, looking completely at home while you fight the urge to dive out the nearest window.
Now everyone’s in a frenzy. Every last one of these men—your so-called “consorts”—are lining up to deliver heartfelt soliloquies, tragic metaphors, and similes so flowery they might as well be a bouquet. You can barely keep a straight face as the next one steps forward, proclaiming that he would “gladly suffer a thousand winters if only to see her smile.”
As if on cue, the heroine wipes a tear from her eye, sighing dreamily. The consort she’s apparently in love with looks at her again, this time with an expression somewhere between pity and terror. But she doesn’t seem to notice, too busy whispering to herself, “Oh, how romantic…”
And then Floyd leans down and whispers in your ear, voice gleeful. “Y’know, if you let ‘em keep going, they might just start fighting each other for you. Free entertainment. Whaddaya think?”
You feel a headache coming on. “Floyd, please, I’m begging you—”
“What?” he asks, grinning wider. “I thought this was fun. C’mon, Empress,” he drawls, giving the title an absurd little flourish. “Let me stay. I promise I won’t let any of these guys stage a rebellion.” He smirks at the traitor consort. “Unless you feel like rebelling, huh?”
The traitor consort scoffs, bristling. “Unlike some of us,” he says, glaring at Floyd, “my devotion is genuine.”
“And boring,” Floyd mutters, loud enough for everyone to hear.
You let out a long, exasperated sigh. “Fine, Floyd. You can stay,” you say, hoping that giving him what he wants will end this disaster. You’re immediately filled with regret as his grin widens.
“Awesome! And you know what? Since everyone’s so devoted, why don’t we all stay? Make it a real party.” Floyd tosses an arm around your shoulders, ignoring the death glares from half the room.
Now you’re stuck with fifteen poets, one unhinged eel, and a heroine who’s still making heart eyes at a man who clearly isn’t interested. And as you sit there, feeling your last shreds of sanity slip away, you think, This is going to be a very, very long reign.
You’re making your way through the moonlit palace corridors, trying to mentally prepare yourself for the… experience that spending the night with Floyd Leech is sure to be.
Mostly, you’ve chosen him because, unhinged or not, he’s at least the most loyal out of this whole ridiculous lineup. Plus, there’s a kind of chaotic charm about him, like a very large, very untrained puppy with fangs.
But before you can even make it to his side palace, you’re intercepted.
“My Empress…” It’s the traitor consort. You sigh as he blocks your path, looking like he’s about to burst into tears. He’s clutching his chest dramatically, as if he’s seconds from fainting, and his voice wobbles with pure tragedy.
“Do you not love me anymore?” he blubbers, eyes shining with tears. “Why do you never choose me? Have I done something wrong? Do you know how long it’s been since you’ve graced my chambers?” He’s practically sobbing at this point, clutching at your sleeves like some tragic hero in a soap opera.
You stand there, blinking. “Uh… dude. I… what? ”
He looks at you with the heartbreak of a thousand rom-coms. “I thought you cared about me. I thought I meant something to you…”
You’re trying to process what exactly is happening (and failing spectacularly) when you hear an all-too-familiar voice.
“Yoo-hoo~!” Floyd’s voice echoes down the hall as he appears at the other end, looking like he’s just won the lottery. He practically skips toward you, a grin stretched across his face, his shark-like teeth glinting in the moonlight.
“Shrimpy!” he calls out cheerfully, giving you an exaggerated wave. But his cheerful demeanor drops like a rock the moment he sees the traitor consort clinging to you, tears streaming down his face.
Floyd’s grin turns into a much darker smirk, and his eyes narrow dangerously. He tilts his head, sizing up the blubbering man like he’s something he might enjoy crunching on for a midnight snack.
“Oi,” Floyd says, stepping closer, voice dropping into a lower, much more menacing tone. “What’re you doin’, crybaby? Gettin’ all snotty in front of my Shrimpy? That doesn’t seem real respectful, y’know?”
The traitor consort pales instantly, his tear-streaked face going from tragic to terrified in half a second flat. “I—I was just…” he stammers, trying to find an escape route.
“You were just what?” Floyd grins, but there’s absolutely nothing friendly about it now. “You got somethin’ you wanna say to her? ‘Cause I could help you say it better, y’know.” He cracks his knuckles for emphasis, and you swear the traitor consort’s soul nearly leaves his body.
And you? You’re exhausted. Normally, you’re pretty sure the original Empress would step in, say something appropriately royal and dignified to diffuse the situation. But at this point? You’re too tired to deal with either of them, and honestly, watching Floyd scare this guy senseless is a little too satisfying. So you just sigh and cross your arms, waiting it out.
“Look, I— I didn’t mean anything by it,” the traitor consort mutters, eyes darting between Floyd’s unsettling grin and your unimpressed stare. “I’ll… I’ll just go…”
And before you know it, he’s stumbling off, practically tripping over his own feet in his rush to escape Floyd’s glare. You can still hear his sniffles echoing down the hall as he disappears.
Floyd watches him go, then turns back to you with an exaggerated pout. “He didn’t even say bye. Rude, huh?” Then, just as quickly, his mood switches back, and he gives you a toothy grin. “C’mon, Shrimpy! Let’s go. You’re finally here!”
And without another word, he loops an arm around you, practically dragging you the rest of the way to his palace. By the time you arrive, you’re half-expecting him to start a monologue or make a big romantic speech, but instead, he plops down on the massive, plush couch, pulling you down next to him with surprising gentleness.
“There we go! See? Ain’t this way better than dealin’ with crybabies?” He laughs, leaning back and throwing an arm over your shoulders.
You give him a look. “Do you actually scare all of them off on purpose?”
Floyd grins, showing all his teeth. “Only the boring ones.” He taps his temple like he’s sharing some brilliant secret. “Can’t have anyone else thinkin’ they’re more special than me, right?”
Honestly, you’re too tired to argue. So you just lean back, letting Floyd prattle on about his grand plans for “getting rid of the competition.” At least, you think to yourself, you’ve successfully survived another day of being Empress.
The banquet table stretches out in front of you, each seat filled by one of your fifteen consorts, who are locked in an elaborate battle of “who’s the cutest?” You watch, sipping your wine like it’s medicinal, as they coo, flirt, and — at least in one unfortunate case — attempt a juggling act.
A consort on your left even starts singing a heartfelt ballad he very obviously wrote himself. You silently make a note to ask Heroine if it’s possible to declare some sort of moratorium on public serenades.
Just when you think the evening can’t get any more surreal, the doors burst open. Floyd strides in, late as usual, with all the grace and subtlety of a pirate commandeering the dinner table.
Without breaking stride, he makes a beeline for the coveted King Consort chair, ignoring the man who’s been trying to occupy it and who now looks as if he’s about to faint.
Floyd’s “gentle” suggestion to move aside comes in the form of a rather forceful nudge, and the poor consort goes skidding two seats down, clutching his untouched plate of tiny hors d’oeuvres.
Floyd plops into the seat, throws his legs up on the table, and proceeds to grab a handful of grapes like he’s claiming territory.
Instantly, fifteen men start having what can only be described as a collective meltdown. One consort gapes at Floyd, cheeks puffing like an indignant chipmunk; another begins audibly hyperventilating. Somewhere on the far end of the table, a man has already shed a single, dramatic tear.
Your maid Heroine sidles up to you, wide-eyed. She whispers loudly, as if she’s sharing a forbidden secret, “Your Majesty! You’ve broken their hearts!”
You stare at her, bewildered. “How? By letting Floyd sit down?”
Heroine nods, lip quivering. “They think you’ve… chosen! That’s the King Consort’s seat!”
“What? ” You glance at Floyd, who’s now lying back, casually chomping on a drumstick he must have acquired from who-knows-where. He doesn’t seem perturbed in the least.
“Yes!” Heroine sniffles, pulling out a lacy handkerchief. “It’s the sacred chair of royal favoritism!” She dabs at her eyes, gazing at you with something akin to heartbreak. “And here I thought you were a romantic.”
“Oh, for heaven’s sake!” You rub your temples, feeling a headache coming on. “I just wanted a quiet dinner!”
One of the consorts, evidently hearing this, begins to wail, “But why, Your Majesty? We loved you!” It’s clear he’s already going to be composing several tragic stanzas about this moment.
Then Floyd — who’s been watching this entire scene with the amused look of someone who’s just discovered he’s won the jackpot — clears his throat, aiming a rather shark-like grin at Heroine. “Hey, little miss servant girl,” he says, his voice sugary sweet with a terrifying edge. “Maybe stop making Shrimpy feel guilty, hmm? Unless you want to join ‘em in the Royal Seat Shuffle?”
Heroine squeaks, as if he’s just offered to turn her into a garden gnome, and stammers an apology, hands fluttering as she edges away.
In the silence that follows, you decide enough is enough. “Thank you all for coming,” you announce, giving your consorts a forced smile. “This has been… lovely. But we’re done for tonight.”
The consorts hesitate, as if they want to protest. But when Floyd gives them one of his very special grins — the kind that says he just might take a whole different seat next — they practically stampede out of the dining hall, leaving behind a trail of emotional debris: teardrops, wilted roses, and a half-eaten plate of pastries.
As the door closes, Floyd leans back with a smirk, throwing an arm casually over the back of his new favorite chair. “So, looks like Shrimpy’s all mine tonight.”
You chuckle, half-exasperated, half-relieved. “Well, seems you chased everyone else off.”
“Don’t be like that,” he purrs, clearly pleased. “You know, you’re different now. Last time, you’d have been practically begging those guys to come back.”
You scoff, rolling your eyes. “Maybe I’m just too tired to care anymore.”
He leans in, gaze softening. “Nah. You’ve just gotten tougher. And it looks good on you. The new Shrimpy’s got a spine.”
You smile, almost despite yourself, as Floyd raises his glass, winking. “To the new Shrimpy: long may she rule.”
The annual Talent Showcase Extravaganza for the Empress’s Affections has begun, and your consorts are pouring every ounce of drama and flair they possess into their performances, each desperate to secure that exclusive week at the countryside villa with you.
Unfortunately, it seems that the traitor consort — Mr. ‘I-know-the-theme-because-Heroine-can’t-resist-my-cheekbones’ — is dominating the competition. He’s wowing the audience with a perfectly themed tapestry, and you can already hear the maid giggling over in his cheering section.
This calls for drastic action.
You glance over to where Floyd is occupying himself by tormenting a pair of unfortunate ministers with tales of his more “creative” fishing techniques. With a sigh, you snap your fingers. He looks over, feigning annoyance at being interrupted in what he surely sees as “Minister Horror Story Hour.”
“Shrimpy, what gives? This is the first fun I’ve had since I got here,” he says, hands on his hips.
You clear your throat. “Actually, Floyd, I need you to… win this competition.”
He raises an eyebrow, incredulous. “What, by doing some fancy painting or something? Boring. If you want something painted, Shrimpy, I’ll fish out an octopus to do it for me.”
You take a deep breath. “If you do this, I’ll grant you any wish you want. Plus… an extra reward.”
Floyd pauses, smirking as he steps closer, his voice dropping into an exaggerated whisper. “Any wish, huh? Dangerous promise, Shrimpy.”
You raise an eyebrow, undeterred. “You in or not?”
With a dramatic roll of his eyes, he sighs. “Fine. But I’m not painting. I’ve got something much better planned. Just try not to faint in awe, yeah?”
When Floyd finally unveils his “masterpiece,” the room falls silent. Somehow, he’s cobbled together a mosaic made entirely out of shiny rocks he probably pilfered from the palace’s prize garden.
The piece is of you, looking bold and triumphant, wielding what can only be described as a “battle spoon” against some sea monster (you’re guessing it’s supposed to be a shark, but it might just be a rock that looked vaguely fish-like).
“Ta-da!” Floyd announces, throwing his arms out. “The Empress: Rock ‘n’ Roll Edition. I call it, ‘Shrimpy, Queen of the Waves.’”
Despite yourself, you’re mildly… no, very swoony. Somehow, it’s both absurd and… kind of amazing. Floyd’s grin is pure mischief as he winks at you. “Like it, Shrimpy? Don’t worry, I can make one for the garden too.”
But your moment is interrupted by a loud sniffle from across the room. The traitor consort, clearly irate at being outshone, is tearing up, looking at you with big, watery eyes as if you’re the villain in this scenario. Heroine looks one step away from bolting to his side, but he raises a hand, his voice trembling as he murmurs, “No, I only want the Empress to comfort me.”
You shoot a silent plea to the universe, practically chanting, “Please, mercy, mercy…”
Floyd, never one to ignore an opportunity, steps up, wrapping an arm around your shoulder. “Sorry, bud. Shrimpy’s already spoken for tonight. You’ll have to get in line. Oh, and try not to tear up over her rock portrait, yeah? Not all of us can handle the majesty.”
The crowd erupts in applause, one point to you and Floyd — and you’re pretty sure Heroine’s sulking in the corner, still staring longingly at the sobbing traitor consort, but that’s a future problem. For now, you’ve got a mildly unhinged art piece to hang up and a certain mischievous consort to thank.
It’s another late night in the study when you notice the Heroine, your ever-loyal (if not a little clueless) maid, lingering by the doorway, watching you with an odd expression. At first, you chalk it up to her usual eccentricities. But as the minutes tick by, she doesn’t move, just stands there with a faraway look in her eyes. Finally, you set down your work and gesture for her to come in.
“Hey,” you say gently, “what’s on your mind?”
She hesitates, fidgeting with the hem of her sleeve. “It’s nothing, really…” Then, in a small voice, “It’s just… I never got to study like this.”
Your brow furrows, and as she opens up, the full picture starts to form. The Heroine, despite her noble blood, was barred by her father from studying—her dreams of an education crushed under his outdated beliefs.
She clung to the traitor consort, she confesses, because he seemed like an escape, even if a flimsy one. He was a nobleman with some level of authority, and for her, he felt like the only ticket to a different life.
Understanding sinks in. It’s not love she feels for him at all. It’s desperation, something almost like a distorted version of Stockholm syndrome.
She’s convinced herself he’s her only way out, though it’s clear as day that he doesn’t deserve her loyalty. The man’s barely got two brain cells, but he’s got freedom—and for her, he must have looked like her only way out.
The realization hits you hard, like finding out your favorite dessert is made with broccoli. No wonder she’s been swooning over that guy. She’s not “in love”—she’s just starved for any path out of her cage. Your heart softens, and you give her a gentle, if slightly exasperated, smile.
“Well, that won’t do,” you say firmly. “How about this? I’ll teach you myself. Then, when you’re ready, we’ll get you the education you deserve.”
Her face goes through a series of hilarious expressions, from shock to joy to the kind of wide-eyed, wobbly-lipped excitement normally reserved for puppies seeing their owner after a long day. And so, your lessons begin.
Over the next few weeks, you teach the Heroine to read, and she devours each lesson like a kid in a candy store. She’s throwing herself into her education with such energy, it’s like she’s forgotten the traitor consort entirely.
And you’re thrilled—partly for her growth and partly because it means your coup odds have just dropped by a solid 90%.
Soon, Heroine’s loyalty to you is ironclad, her former starry-eyed infatuation with the traitor consort completely extinguished. You’re so relieved you could dance, and, maybe more importantly, you realize that the kingdom’s other daughters deserve the same chance.
In a flash of imperial inspiration, you draft a new law requiring all daughters, noble or otherwise, to attend the academy. The state will foot the bill, so no one has an excuse to hold their daughters back.
Later that night, feeling unexpectedly sentimental, you return to your room to find Floyd sprawled on your bed, grinning like he’s just heard the world’s juiciest gossip.
“You look smug,” you say, arching an eyebrow.
“Nah, just… pleased,” he drawls, giving you that signature mischievous smirk. And before you know it, he pulls you into a surprisingly tight hug, his arms wrapping around you with unexpected warmth. “Look at my Shrimpy, changing the world one law at a time.”
A blush creeps up your cheeks despite yourself. “Oh, stop it,” you mutter, though you don’t pull away.
He chuckles, giving you an affectionate squeeze. “Nah. You’re doing great, Empress. I’m proud of you.”
You’re speechless. Floyd? Sentimental? But as he holds you, laughing at your stunned expression, you can’t help but feel a little…smitten.
You’re reviewing reports in the study, savoring the rare, blissful calm, when the double doors burst open like some villain from a badly written romance novel. There stands the traitor consort, dressed in what looks like…a suit made of loose, strategically placed peacock feathers, a sequined sash, and—oh, yes—face glitter.
He strikes a pose, does a dramatic hand flip, and announces, “Behold! My love for you is eternal, as boundless as the stars, and as bold as my outfit!”
You're thinking about ordering Floyd to chase him out with a chair, when you catch Heroine’s expression—somewhere between horror and volcanic rage.
With a fierce gleam in her eye, she steps in front of you, looking like she’s about to deliver an exorcism. “You…” she begins, her voice so cold even the peacock feathers on his shoulders look like they might molt in fear. “You miserable, egotistical, fashion-disaster-in-waiting!”
He’s stunned, blinking like a child caught sneaking candy. “W-what? Heroine, you used to help me with my plans!”
“Yeah, well, that was before I got a brain cell,” she snaps. “I actually know my worth now, and it’s definitely not tied to whatever fever-dream cape situation you’ve got going on.” She points to his glittering sash. “What, did you rob an arts-and-crafts store on the way here? Do you know who you’re talking to?”
He stammers, visibly shrinking, feathers quivering with fear. “Y-you were always there for me…”
“That was when I was too naive to realize you were the human equivalent of a trash fire!” She’s in full swing now, arms crossed and eyebrow raised, spitting out insults that would make the court jester blush. “Please, the Empress has standards, and you’re down there with questionable cabbage soup.”
He reels back, totally caught off-guard. By this point, you’re honestly not sure if you should applaud or slowly back away.
With a smirk, you lean forward and say, “Well, since you’re dressed for the occasion, why don’t you strut that ridiculous ensemble back to your own country?”
He opens his mouth, gapes like a fish, and finally closes it, completely defeated. Without another word, he shuffles out, feathers dragging behind him in a sad little pile.
The second he’s out of earshot, you sigh, look up, and thank the universe for finally sparing you from that headache. The Heroine just dusts her hands off, grinning like she’s just won the greatest battle of her life, and you’re suddenly very aware of just how terrifyingly competent she’s become.
Floyd has been hounding you about his reward for days now, showing up at all hours with the persistence of a cat at dinner time. You’re mid-sentence in a policy meeting, mid-sip at dinner, even mid-bath when you hear him shout from outside the door, “Hey, Shrimpy! Remember my prize? Don’t forget now!”
Finally, in a moment of resignation, you sigh and wave him in. “Fine, Floyd. What do you actually want?”
He grins, and there’s a gleam in his eyes that should probably have you worried. “Make me king consort.”
You open your mouth, ready to laugh and then say something like, “No chance,” but then…you pause. Because—why not? He’s loyal, he’s your particular brand of chaos, and honestly, the idea of using it as an excuse to disband the harem is almost too good.
You’d get to tell everyone you’d found the “love of your life” and keep your mornings free of peacock-feathered declarations of eternal devotion.
“Alright, Floyd,” you say, shrugging as if you just agreed to a dinner plan and not a royal title. “You’re king consort.”
For a solid five seconds, he’s frozen, blinking like he’s not sure if you just announced the best prank of the century or an actual royal decision.
Then, with a roar of laughter, he picks you up, actually tossing you in the air like a sack of grain. “SHRIMPY, I’M KING CONSORT! WOOOO!”
Ministers nearby practically leap out of their chairs in terror, and one drops his teacup with a spectacular crash.
“Oh, and by the way,” he says, setting you down but keeping a hand on your shoulder. “Don’t think I forgot—I still get that week alone with you in the countryside. Just you, me, and the great outdoors.”
You’d expected to feel dread, but instead…you’re kind of excited? Because it turns out, when there’s no glittered consort in sight, Floyd’s brand of mayhem might just be exactly what you needed.
You’re slumped on the throne, staring into the void as a minister drones on about the scandalous rise in scarf-wearing among the commoners.
The man is red-faced and foaming at the mouth as if he’s narrating the downfall of civilization itself instead of just… knitted accessories. With each drawn-out sentence, your urge to grab his own scarf and dramatically tie it around his face grows stronger.
“And, Your Majesty, don’t you agree that such… frivolousness undermines the dignity of the empire?” he sputters.
“Uh-huh,” you mumble, one mental toe dangling into the sweet abyss of existential crisis. How did your life get to this point? Did the previous Empress really deal with scarf politics? You contemplate just passing the crown to the nearest potted plant. Surely it couldn’t do worse.
Then, like a savior bathed in sunlight, Floyd appears. He slinks in casually, eyes glinting with a dangerous mix of glee and malice. He takes one look at Wedgeworth’s scarf-induced fervor and rolls his eyes. “Oh, I see the scarf issue is really eating away at the Empire,” Floyd deadpans, clearly unamused at the absurdity.
The minister stammers, blinking like he’s never been interrupted in his life. “Well, actually, I was explaining to Her Majesty—”
Floyd raises a hand. “I’ll take it from here, Lord Scarfington. Very urgent royal matters, wouldn’t want to keep the Empress from them, now would we, hmm?”
The ministers exchange horrified looks, but when Floyd locks eyes with them, his expression darkens into a gaze that could probably scare the teeth off a shark. Ministers shuffle out, muttering about “the sanctity of scarves” and how they “never liked those shellfish folk anyway.”
When you’re finally alone, you look at Floyd, and he gives you a grin. “Come on, Shrimpy, I’ve got a surprise.”
He leads you through a series of narrow, winding hallways you didn’t even know existed until you arrive at a small, hidden courtyard surrounded by high walls and shaded by some flowering trees.
In the middle of it is a picnic spread that looks… questionable. There’s food you don’t recognize: odd, glistening items that could pass as snacks in a very brave galaxy.
“I brought some delicacies from the Coral Sea,” Floyd announces, looking way too proud. “I even cooked some of this myself.”
You smile, hoping he means the less suspicious dishes, but as you take a bite of one of the “unique” items, you immediately realize your error. It’s a taste explosion, and not in a good way; you’re fairly certain you just ate something alive. Floyd’s already laughing, watching you try to hold back a gag.
“Oh, that’s rich, look at your face!” He claps his hands, doubled over with laughter.
But then you try the food he actually cooked, and it’s… it’s really good. Your eyes widen. “Floyd, you didn’t tell me you could cook!”
He shrugs nonchalantly. “Guess you just have that effect on me, Shrimpy.”
As you eat, you feel the weight of scarf debates and mundane ministerial crises slip away. Floyd’s teasing you about your reaction to the Coral Sea snacks, you’re pretending to smack him, and somewhere between the laughter and the food, you realize you’re completely relaxed. You’re even… happy.
Then he casually picks up a pillow, eyes glinting with mischief. “Hey, Shrimpy,” he says slowly, “bet I can take you down.”
“Bring it, fish-boy,” you fire back, grabbing a pillow.
A feather flies. Then another. In no time, the two of you are engaged in a full-on pillow war, feathers floating through the air in chaotic puffs. You swing a pillow with all your might, narrowly missing Floyd, who dodges and counters with a playful shove, sending you sprawling onto the blanket, laughing so hard you’re almost crying.
In the flurry of feathers and laughter, you realize just how much you care about him. And as if reading your mind, Floyd suddenly stops, pinning you down, his face hovering just inches above yours. His usual playful grin fades into something softer, more serious, and you find yourself staring up at him, completely captivated.
You kiss him, right there, surrounded by scattered feathers and half-eaten snacks. “I think I’m in love with you, Floyd,” you whisper.
He grins, looking almost smug. “Knew you’d come around eventually, Shrimpy. You’re a smart one.”
You roll your eyes, laughing, and pull him into another kiss, feeling lighter than you have in ages. Whatever royal nonsense tomorrow brings, you know you’ve got him—and for now, that’s more than enough.
Vacation plans with Floyd start out so simple in theory, but the minute he said, “Countryside? Nah, Shrimpy, we’re going under the sea,” you just nodded because, hey, you did promise a reward. Plus, how bad could it be?
Bad, it turns out, is relative. Upon arrival, Jade, Floyd’s brother, gives you a grin that says welcome, poor soul. “So, my brother’s finally gone and gotten himself an Empress. How unexpected,” he says with a glint in his eye that suggests he’s got a bet running on how long you’ll last.
But you’ve barely survived Jade’s interrogation when Azul, Coral Sea’s resident business octopus, swims up with an entire briefcase of contracts and a grin that spells danger.
“Welcome, Your Majesty! I thought we might discuss a mutually beneficial agreement,” he says smoothly, his tone so charming you almost miss that the contract slides in a 50-year lease on your kingdom’s fishing industry.
“So that’s how it is here,” you think, snapping back to business mode. You haggle until both sides are happy, but the second you reach across to shake Azul’s hand, Floyd swoops in, sighing dramatically. He grabs your hand, practically prying it out of Azul’s. “Alright, Shrimpy, enough time with the fish dealer. You’re mine this week.”
Before you can blink, he’s thrown you over his shoulder like you’re a stray potato sack, striding away from an open-mouthed Azul and an utterly delighted Jade who looks like he's a minute away from bursting out popcorn.
By the time he hauls you to your guest room and plops you on the bed, his usual grin has given way to an expression you’ve only seen on annoyed cats. He’s holding your hand in a grip that could rival steel, not letting go even as he sulks like a kid who just lost his favorite toy.
“Floyd,” you say slowly, “is something wrong?”
He looks away, puffing out his cheeks, refusing to answer. It's downright adorable in an overgrown, slightly unhinged eel sort of way. You squint at him, reaching over to grab his face, smushing his cheeks together until he finally makes eye contact. “Hey, I can’t read your mind, Floyd. Tell me what’s wrong.”
He mutters something too low to hear, and you lean closer, arching a brow. “What was that?”
“You’re my Shrimpy,” he grumbles louder, still not meeting your eyes. “And the handshake with that fish scammer went on too long.”
It takes every ounce of self-control not to burst into laughter. “So that’s it, huh?” A laugh slips out despite your efforts, and his pout deepens, though his grip on your hand stays as firm as ever. “You silly eel,” you chuckle, leaning in to press a soft kiss to his lips. “As if anyone could match me like you do?”
That does it. His expression softens, the pout melting into that slightly unhinged, overly excited Floyd smile you know too well. “See, Shrimpy, that’s why you’re the only one for me!” he practically shouts before pulling you into a spin that has you clinging to him for dear life.
He kisses you again, and you’re so breathless you half-expect a storm outside to rise to match.
But it doesn’t matter—he’s too busy swearing up and down that he’s not letting anyone else get a “single fin” on you. And somehow, as you laugh together, it feels like you really are on a vacation you never knew you needed.
The ceremony for crowning Floyd as your King Consort goes all-out, much to your delight—and, judging by the expressions around the room, their absolute horror. The whole throne room is so packed with flowers and banners it might as well be a festival.
You’ve made sure that this is a spectacle the diplomats and ministers will never forget. After all, the more smitten you look with Floyd, the less they’ll try to “reason” you out of it. And if they have any opinions about your choice, well, they can keep it to themselves—or they can talk to Floyd.
As you lean in to place the crown on Floyd’s head, he’s giving you a smirk so bright you swear it’s practically a stage light. The second the crown touches his head, he dips you into a kiss that is equal parts “fairytale ending” and “scandalized gasp from the old guard.” The ministers are barely holding in a collective gasp. Someone clutches their chest like they might need medical attention.
Over on the sidelines, you can see Jade and Azul clapping way too enthusiastically for the room’s mood. Meanwhile, everyone else looks like they’re watching you deface a holy artifact. You pull back with a satisfied smile, fully aware of the whispers swirling through the room.
Now, to seal this newfound reign in your own… unique way.
You turn to the front rows where your now-ex-harem stands, looking various shades of awkward and confused. These “prizes” will be going back to their respective nations, and it’s about time. “Ambassadors,” you announce, your tone absolutely oozing sincerity, “I believe you’ll be taking back your… prizes. Enjoy.”
The diplomats exchange looks, clearly unsure if they should feel insulted or relieved. You give them a regal wave and watch as they shuffle out with the ex-consorts in tow, one of whom lets out a dramatic sigh loud enough to reach the rafters.
Just as the room finally starts calming down, you glance over at the row of your ministers—many of whom look like they’d rather have run off with the consorts.
These are the ancient relics of nepotism who have only ever accomplished growing their own egos and possibly a few money-siphoning schemes. You decide now’s the time to deal with them, too.
Smiling so politely it almost looks sweet, you say, “Ministers, thank you for your service. But I’m sure you’ll understand when I say…” You pause, voice dropping to an icy sweetness, “You’re dismissed. Please kindly fuck right off.”
Several of the men freeze, as if unsure they heard you correctly. One or two start spluttering, “But—Your Majesty—this is—”
“Oh, don’t worry,” Floyd cuts in, grinning from ear to ear, clearly enjoying this far too much. “You’re free to go! You wouldn’t want to disappoint the Empress, would ya?”
It takes a second, but the room clears of protesting ministers soon enough. Then you turn to the waiting group of young scholars, women who fought their way up to the top on pure merit, many of them owing their presence here to your recently passed education reforms. “Welcome,” you say with a genuine smile. "Your interviews will be conducted tomorrow"
Their reactions are priceless. Several tear up on the spot, whispering thank-yous so heartfelt you nearly tear up yourself. One of them murmurs, “This is a dream come true. Thank you, Your Majesty.”
You feel a swell of pride. This is what you’ve wanted to see—a competent court, fresh talent, and the chance to make a real difference. Just as you’re soaking in the satisfaction of this triumph, Floyd leans over, clearly up to something.
“You’re done now, yeah?” he asks with a conspiratorial grin.
“Uh, yes?” You've barely said the words, only for him to suddenly scoop you up and throw you over his shoulder, entirely ignoring the royal dignity of it all. The young scholars stare, completely unsure of whether to salute or run.
“Floyd!” you half-laugh, half-scold. “You could at least let me walk out on my own!”
“Nah,” he says, casually strolling down the hall with you like you’re a sack of potatoes. “You’re mine now, Shrimpy. And besides, it’s tradition for the King Consort to carry his Empress, isn’t it?”
“I’m pretty sure it isn’t,” you mutter, but you wave cheerfully at everyone as you’re carried off.
As he strides out of the throne room, ignoring the horrified gasps and protests behind you both, Floyd grins. “Any more old men to fire? ‘Cause I’m having a great time.”
You shake your head, smiling. After all, you’re the Empress—who’s going to stop you now?
Your empire has transformed. The old guard, once weighed down by nothing but scarves and scandals, has finally given way to a bright-eyed group of scholars and ministers, most of whom—much to the old ministers' horror—are brilliant young women now leading the realm.
Among them is your ex-maid, the heroine herself, newly appointed as Minister of Diplomatic Affairs and already so intimidatingly competent that foreign diplomats quake just a bit when she enters the room.
And the grandest twist of all: you declare that your successor will not be by blood but by merit. The heir to the throne will be the sharpest, most capable mind in the empire, regardless of their birth.
You’re already giddy as you imagine the ambitious parents prepping their offspring for the grueling tests you’re planning—challenges you’ll design alongside your newly assembled council.
After hours of being regal and respectable, you finally get back to your chambers, ready for a night of blissfully ignoring politics. Floyd, your beloved eel, is already sprawled on the couch like he’s conquered half the known world, arms open and ready to receive you. You practically collapse into his embrace, sighing as you burrow against him.
“So, Shrimpy,” he drawls, smirking. “Fix the whole empire yet?”
“Almost,” you laugh. “At least I’ve retired the Scarf Parliament. That’s enough for today.”
You snuggle closer, closing your eyes, and for a second, you think back to the ridiculous, drama-filled story that threw you into this life. Maybe the original author had a point, or maybe she just really liked throwing you curveballs.
Either way, cuddled up with the love of your life while your empire flourishes, you can’t help but think, yeah, she knew exactly what she was doing.
Might've Walked Slower - Floyd
Author Notes: So, I was actually planning on posting a different fic today, but then the Stitch even came out today so I decided Floyd would get a fic posted today instead. I've actually had this written for a little bit, but it's been undergoing polishing and gathering dust in my google docs. I had fun writing and working on this one, though I have to admit it really doesn't have any specific source of inspiration beyond NRC having an old building and me wondering if there were secret passageways. As per usual, reader is gender-neutral. I hope you enjoy!
Type: Gender-neutral reader/ sfw/ fluff/ flirtation
Word count: 1685
It started the same way a great many things at NRC seemed to start. With a task from Crowley.
To be fair, this task wasn’t particularly difficult or even that annoying. It was just returning some books to the school library for him.
The only trouble came in the form of a bored Floyd Leech, who was currently lurking in the library for unknown reasons. Luckily, Floyd had thus far opted to sit and boredly watch as you shelved books once he’d discovered your presence didn’t mean anything exciting.
But nothing could stay simple in NRC, and today served as still more evidence for that fact.
You’d simply put one hand down on a strangely empty shelf to support yourself while you stretched upwards to place a book on a still higher shelf. And that was when everything went horribly wrong.
You leaned forward ever so slightly more, frowning as you stretched just a little bit more, and all at once the shelf let out a horrible groaning sound and gave way. Your eyes widened, and you realized exactly what was going to happen.
You plummeted forward with a shriek that had Floyd jerking upright from his previously relaxed position of stretching his upper body across the top of a table, “Shrimpy?!”
His voice sounded equal parts startled and concerned, but you paid him little mind as you scrambled, catching yourself against a web-coated wall as you tumbled through where the bookshelf had just been. Your shoulder slamming hard against the cold stone in a way that promised you would have some impressive bruises tomorrow morning.
You groaned slightly as you pushed yourself back, your uninjured arm wrapping around your body so that you could press a hand to your now-throbbing shoulder. But all thoughts of how much that was going to hurt tomorrow fled as you stared at the gaping hole in the wall that was now in front of you.
You stared in quiet horror at the hole before your brain kicked into gear, noting that the edges of the opening were smooth and that this area had obviously been built this way to let the bookshelf swing open like a demented door to reveal the tunnel lined with sconces that hung on the filthy walls.
Though you’d initially thought you’d somehow caused the entire bookcase to topple, that was obviously not the case. Instead, it looked like you’d managed to somehow trigger a mechanism that had opened some sort of hidden door to a passageway that you were now standing in the entrance of.
“Shrimpy, are you…” Floyd trailed off from where he’d appeared behind you as he beheld the darkened path you’d uncovered.
Both of you stood in silence, staring down the stone tunnel whose walls bore unlit sconces before giving way into a deep darkness. You slowly stood as you continued to stare into the darkness from next to Floyd. Wondering what, exactly, this passage was and where it led.
“What have you found this time, Shrimpy?” Floyd’s amused voice snapped you out of your silent gaping, and you shot him a look only to find him staring into the darkness with sparkling eyes that spoke of an emotion that one should always be wary of if it were coming from Floyd.
Excitement.
With a simple gesture that was not unlike snapping his fingers, magic shot out from where the young man stood, and flames began to flicker in the sconces as he stepped past you into the passageway. Before you could say anything, he’d already reached back and wrapped one hand around your wrist with a smooth rolling motion of his long fingers.
“Floyd, wai-” You were cut off by him giving you a slight tug and pulling you into the tunnel-like space with him. He was already grinning in a way that told you that you were probably going to be stuck going with him no matter what you said.
“Come on~ it’ll be fun,” His eyes were alight, and the yellow one had a slight glow to it that reminded you of the deep-sea fish that used lights to tempt prey in closer.
And, in some ways, it was tempting to check out the tunnel-like passage you’d discovered. After all, just finding it brought to light numerous questions.
Were there more? What was it for? And how old was NRC anyway if it had hidden passageways like this?
You hesitated though, glancing back towards the library as your freehand fell away from your shoulder before Floyd’s sing-songy voice came from far closer than it had been before, telling you he’d stepped closer to you, “Don’t you wanna know where it leads~?”
You looked back towards him, finding that he had indeed stepped closer and was now looking at you, still holding onto your wrist and smiling in a way that told you he knew he was going to win. Because, unfortunately, you were curious about this hidden passage that you’d discovered.
“Just for a little while. I’m not spending all day and night exploring some creepy path with you,” Your tone was firm, but still drew a giggle from the tall young man who now turned to lead you down the path. His hand sliding down until your hands were interlocked.
“It's not creepy, just a little dark. Kind of like home,” You all but snorted at his utterly relaxed demeanor. Of course he wouldn’t find previously secret, web-encrusted tunnels lit only by widely spaced sconces creepy.
But then there was no telling what he was used to seeing from his time living under the sea. Creepy might be an everyday commodity for him. And he had said it was sort of like his home….
When you didn’t actually respond as you glanced around at your surroundings, he twisted, looking back at you with an amused, almost mocking grin, “Aw, don’t tell me you’re afraid of the dark, Shrimpy~”
“Hardly, I just tend to be wary of places that strike me as fishy,” If anything, your words seemed to delight him further as he tugged you up closer to him so that you were walking side by side as he leaned towards you.
“Don’t worry. I’m way more fishy than anything that’ll be in here,” He winked in a way that had you rolling your eyes, but not pulling away from him even as he giggled. Because, for better or worse, having Floyd with you while exploring some dark hole in a magical school was far better than being alone.
After all, he could probably take on anything you found.
Floyd stopped, tugging you to a stop by simply not letting you pull him with you as you came to the edge of the set of stairs.
Glancing back, you noticed him tilting his head with a thoughtful expression before he met your gaze and smiled teasingly once more, “Reckon it goes to the dungeon?”
You couldn’t stop the snort that came from your throat as you shook your head, “Why would a school have a dungeon?”
He shrugged, staring down the stone steps and soon guiding you down with him as he kept lighting sconces as you approached them, and amusingly, it made you wonder if he really was worried that you were afraid of the dark, “Don’t know, maybe for bad kiddies?”
“Shouldn’t most of the school, including you, be down here then?” Your wry words had him snickering even as you pondered where the staircase led.
You tilted your head as you carefully followed Floyd down the stone staircase, “Has this place always been a school?”
Floyd gave you a sideways glance before shrugging in a perfectly nonchalant manner, “Don’t know. You’d have to ask one of the history buffs about that.”
Your mind briefly flickered to Malleus’s analysis of the gargoyles on every building on the campus before you dismissed the thought with a shrug, “Either way, I hope this staircase ends with a door out of here.”
“Aw, you aren’t enjoying our date?” You grinned despite yourself at Floyd’s potentially faux pout.
“I didn’t realize this was a date?” You glanced up, still smiling, at Floyd in time to watch as he briefly went wide-eyed before recovering with record timing.
“You think I just casually take all cuties down some potentially forbidden tunnel?” Floyd’s grin was perfectly shameless, but it had laughter bubbling out of you as you shook your head at his antics.
And a large part of you couldn’t believe that you were slowly slipping into the all-too-obvious trap of flirting with Floyd. But here you were, and in no way were you uncomfortable.
In fact, despite yourself and the environment, you were perfectly enjoying your little jaunt through this web-encrusted passage. And you had a sneaking suspicion that the sole reason you were having fun was the young man next to you.
Looking ahead, you could indeed see a door at the foot of the stairs, no doubt the exit to the lengthy tunnel, “How about next time you tell me we’re on a date before whisking me off down some dark tunnel? I might’ve walked slower.”
You could’ve sworn his eyes were sparkling as he grinned at both you and your words before he turned to look at the door, “Well, let’s see where our secret path leads.”
With that, he pushed open the door, scaring the ghosts on the other sides and letting the scent of cooking food spill into the passageway. Your new location could be in only one place. The kitchen.
Floyd was laughing as the two of you entered the hot room filled with now flustered spirits, but before he let go of your hand, he tugged you closer to him and leaned down to whisper in your ear, “Next time you go exploring, make sure to tell me.”
You looked up to see him grinning at you, utterly delighted by the happenings of the day and a long way off from the bored Floyd of earlier as he winked at you, “I’ve got to hold you to walking slower on our next date.”
Hi could I request Floyd, malleus, and ace x reader that’s really clumsy
Characters: Floyd, Malleus, and Ace x Gender-Neutral Reader
Synopsis: Reader that’s really clumsy
Warnings: Fluff, spelling mistakes, a little ooc?
Notes: Please send me more twisted wonderland requests :))
𝐹𝓁𝑜𝓎𝒹 𝐿𝑒𝑒𝒸𝒽
He laughs at you, like you just fell down the stairs. Well, he’s going to be laughing at you; how could he not? You're just so funny to him, like a pufferfish always having trouble walking or anything with falling over or getting hurt.
You have bruises and cuts and need help bandaging them; well, he’ll help you; oh, someone else was going to help you; he’ll do it; he’ll be extra gentle with you, or you might break like glass.
He’ll kiss your bandaged cuts or bruises ‘to make it feel better’ and laugh at your surprised face.
He’ll help you by carrying you over his shoulder; he’s doing you a favour if you fall backwards and break your skull. He’s making sure his pufferfish don’t break their heads.
─── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───
"FLOYD, let me down!" you yell, trying to get off his shoulder that he put you over. "Shrimpy, you might hurt yourself, so Floydie is keeping you safe. He smiles, holding you even tighter while you still try to get out of his hold.
"Shrimpy, if you keep on resisting, I might have to squeeze you real tight." Floyd's voice goes dark, and you decide to give up since this wasn’t worth getting squeezed, so you’ll deal with it.
𝑀𝒶𝓁𝓁𝑒𝓊𝓈 𝒟𝓇𝒶𝒸𝑜𝓃𝒾𝒶
He’s surprised; he’s never seen someone whose so clumsy as you are, he worries you might get hurt very easily since humans are so fragile compared to fae’s.
Whenever you two meet at night, running over to him before tripping and falling face first into the concrete of the Ramshackle dorm, before getting up and telling him you're alright with buries forming on your body from the fall.
Before getting back up but falling back down, you just lay for 10 seconds, embarrassed out of your mind, before sucking it up and looking up, saying you're alright.
─── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───
"Tsunotaro!" you exclaim, your voice brimming with delight, as you jog over to him. "Well, well, a child of man." Seems like you're thrilled to see me," he remarks, his voice dripping with a playful smile.
"I couldn’t sleep, so at least I can talk to-" Your sentence comes to an abrupt end as you lose your footing and crash face-first into the mucky, dirt-covered concrete. Pushing yourself up with your hands, you burst into laughter, desperately trying to brush off the embarrassment. "I'm okay!" you declare, still chuckling, as you manage to regain your footing and try to save yourself.
"Child of man, are you alright?" He asks, his voice full of concern: Don't worry, I'm fine! You assure him, brushing off the dirt from your clothes. He extends his hands towards you, his gaze filled with genuine worry. Perplexed, you look at him, trying to decipher his intentions. "I don't want you to fall and get hurt," he explains softly.
You tightly grip his outstretched hand, ensuring that you won't stumble again there's something reassuring about the way his hand feels in yours.
𝒜𝒸𝑒 𝒯𝓇𝒶𝓅𝓅𝑜𝓁𝒶
You’ve got him worrying so much about you, like he won’t leave for a second or you might get hurt! But, like, how can a person just trip over air?
He gets skilled at catching you and stopping you from getting hurt; he’s just blunt and tells you to hold his hand, acting like he’s doing you a favour, but he also secretly wants to hold your hand and keep you close.
Of course he takes care of you if you have something sprained and you can’t bandage it yourself, but you have him, and he knows how to bandage up injuries.
─── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───
"Sheesh, are you cursed to be clumsy all your life?" Ace muttered, his brows furrowed with concern. You sighed softly, understanding his annoyance. "Sorry, Ace, I can do it myself if it bothers you that much. His eyes softened as he met your gaze, and his fingers expertly wrapped the bandages around your injury. "Forget it; I'm already doing it," he conceded.
"Tell me if it’s too tight. Ace requested that his touch be gentle yet firm as he secured the bandages. You winced slightly, feeling the pressure. "A little loser, please," you replied. He adjusted the bandages to your liking before tying them. "Take it easy or you might hurt your ankle even more, he warned, a hint of sincerity in his voice.
"So if there is anything you need, I’ll get it for you, so don’t hurt yourself."
if you liked this, consider tipping me on ko-fi! it'd mean a lot!
FLOYD LEECH who…
— loves you.
gn!reader (you/your), just fluffy headcanons
notes; i’m having the brain melt over my pookie <3333
FLOYD LEECH who holds you tightly and never wants to let go.
He will, eventually, have to let go, he knows that. However, that just makes him want to squeeze you even tighter (if you don’t mind)! But it’s whatever, because he has plenty more opportunities to
FLOYD LEECH who grabs your face aggressively (yet gently) with both of his large hands, and starts placing obnoxious kisses everywhere on your face.
There’s no escaping his grip when he starts to attack your face with little kisses! He aims everywhere, saving your lips for last.
FLOYD LEECH who wraps his long limbs around you and pulls you close when you two are sleeping together.
He’s warm, surprisingly. However, if it’s not him hugging you like a human body pillow then expect him to be absolutely squashing you under his weight. He’s not THAT heavy, riiiighhtt?
FLOYD LEECH who skips out on his lounge shifts to sit with you, looking at you dreamily while you talk.
Oh, it’s definitely coming out of his paycheque for sure, but for him? Totally worth it. He gets to listen to you talk on and on about whatever your desired topic is, but he likes listening to your voice! On the contrary, he pays no mind to the poor unfortunate soul who has to cover for him…
FLOYD LEECH who leaves his opponent in the dust when you’re at one of his games.
Even if it’s just practice or warm-up, just seeing you sitting on the sidelines gives him enough motivation to hurry through the games and come rushing over to you! But, of course, he just HAS to show off. Only for you! ♡
FLOYD LEECH who honestly just adores you.
Who cares what you look like, or how you act like? You’re interesting enough for him so it’s all that matters, and anybody to judge you is gonna get a very non-friendly squeezing from him. How could he not love you, just look at yourself. You’re gorgeous, you’re so cool and he loves everything about you.
FLOYD LEECH who loves you.
And you love him too.
You will not, and i repeat, will NOT get him off of you
was already biting you before you even felt the need to bite him
you are already his chewtoy (joking) so there wont be a big change, just that he will be slobbering all over you even more
whenever you are within arms length, keep an eye out, or you will become eel snack
as a matter of fact, dont hold back, he likes play fighting, and that involves biting, plus, your human teeth dont do much to him, so go crazy with it
or maybe do, since any marks that your teeth leave will be given back tenfold, so unless you want to actually look like some dogs chewtoy, be careful
will flaunt it and make it extremely obvious
if you do it on purpose he is giggling, since your human teeth are much softer and it tickles him, but if you do it by instinct/muscle memory, he is CACKLING (like legit evil laughter) as he prepares to bite you back, "arent you just the cutest shrimpy!!!"
his teeth hurt, and he isnt careful at ALL 😢
also, you may have to desinfect his bites, who knows what kind of bacteria hes carrying there? (joking)
Floyd clung the your back, his arms surrounding your shoulders as he leaned most of his weigh on you. This was usual occurrence. The clingy eel was a lover of your personal space, seemingly unable to leave place where air could pass between the two of you.
You didn’t exactly hate it, but it was sometimes too much. You tried to turn around, he simply softened his grip, allowing you to come face to face with him, his arms still holding into your shoulders. A dopey grin on his face as he leaned closer to you. He sometimes reminded you more of a dog than an eel.
You chuckled at his antics, grabbing his face and biting into his soft cheek. As you pulled away, you saw a glint on his eyes, his smile looking sharper than before, his pointy teeth fully on display as he dragged out your name, before leaning with his mouth slightly agape.
Late night shenanigans with Floyd.
When you find Floyd on you doorstep at 11 pm in his mismatched Christmas pjs and you ask him when was the last time he'd slept more than 5 hours.
When Floyd complains about not being able to sleep and has been to multiple dorms to crash at but the only one who opened up was you.
When Floyd deciding to make cupcakes in the flickering lights of Ramshackle while you figure out how to make popcorn using an hair curler.
When you and Floyd sucessfully make a fort out of blankets and pillows on your bed after 6 failed attempts.
When you and floyd sit close together and watch Pitch Perfect and Barbie while snacking on the burnt vanilla cupcakes and half popped popcorn.
When Floyd only stops asking questions when you finally hold his hand.
When Floyd falls asleep before you and you kiss him goodnight.
When you try to leave the bed but Floyd has already wrapped his arms around you.
When Floyd wakes up in your room, know damn well this was all planned.
*ੈ✩‧˚₊⁀➴ Word Count: 4.3k Floyd x gn!reader
*ੈ✩‧˚₊⁀➴ Tags: friends who want more, long shifts = loss of logic, fluff and deals, a little spicy at the end? hands, Hands, HANDS!
For a whole world defined by the ideas of fairytales, you did not feel as if you were living in one.
Life has been "hectic" to put it mildly. From being pushed into a carriage (which should be considered kidnapping logic blasted away between gaps in worlds), dealing with egotistical boys that turn into a monster of repressed issues, and on top of all that studying 24/7 to even catch up with the grade level is too much to handle.
Oh, and to keep up with Grim's insatiable appetite, meaning he ordered twenty plates of tuna behind her back at Lounge Monstro leading to said terror to complain that his "poor paws" can't soak or they become little wet stubs. Not only that the animal language test was coming up and you really needed all the help you could get. Therefore, you took up some extra shifts that were available at the Lounge.
The only shift being dishwater duty.
Plummeting her hands with washed-up food and soapy water felt disgusting.
It felt like a pre-prince charming Cinderella fairytale.
Scratch that, you felt like a poorer pre-prince charming Cinderella. At least Cinderella got a fire to sleep next to (though Grim acted as a nice heater if he didn't twist and turn so much at night.)
Dousing wrinkled fingers, with clean water from the spout you gave an audible groan as the busser just pushed at least twenty more dirty dishes to her. He gave a small sorry before dashing off again.
You eyed the mess of gravy, picked clean bones, and a mountain of stacked soda glasses about to tip over. A job is a job but this is ridiculous.
Starting with the plates first you grumbled, "Stupid Azul being cheap-" scrubbing harder against a stain, "scheduling only one dishwasher today." All of a sudden, oxygen left your lungs as something heavy collided into you.
"Koebi-chan! You're here today~" Floyd grinned as he put most of his weight onto your body.
Being "hugged" by Floyd felt more like being "mauled" by a bear. A strange, friendly, sharp tooth instead of nails type of bear but mauled either way.
"You're heavy", you grumble hunching over, chest almost touching the tip of the basin, "get off me!"
You are not supposed to poke the bear but in this case Floyd really didn't mind, "Hehe~. Koebi-chan is super fun when they’re red!"
Like his twin would say, 'There is no stopping Floyd from getting what he wants without measurable danger.'. The danger might be your neck being squeezed or maybe losing a finger to pointy teeth but really what could be worse than your kidnapping from another world situation? Not much.
Yuu steadies her hands against the sink as eyes glaring at yellow, “At least help me with dishes. With you, on cooking duty instead of Jade there are at least triple the number of pans."
He leans back relieving some of the weight as he explains with clear disinterest, "Ehhhh, but I just got off!"
He snakes one arm around your waist pulling tight as you let out a squeak, his lips getting closer before he breathes out.
"Let's just stay here~" You feel his lips close to your ear, “Forever~”
You flayed, pruned hands covering your ears as a crimson red ran up your cheeks as you broke out of Floyd's grip gaping at him.
"You- You!"
Floyd breaks out into his signature grin, mirth dancing in his eyes, "Hehe. Koebi-chan gives the best reactions ever!
You glared back before turning to at least an hour’s worth of dishes that need to be done before Azul sent you home tonight. Then it was the homework and also finding the time to make a quick dinner, and ugh- "Just help me out would you? My feet are already hurting from tonight's dinner rush."
"Nahhh." Floyd says stretching his arms above his head a few pops and a shrug later he crosses his arms with the smirk of someone who would get at least 8 hours of sleep tonight, "Azul said I'm done tonight."
Well duh, you heard all the wrong orders going out. Azul probably wanted to preserve if/any profits were made tonight.
"Besides! Washing dishes are supeeeer boring." he tilts his head to the side frowning, "Not really into that."
You sighs and tries to outweigh the odds in her head:
Option one: Floyd will go bother some other poor soul after a few moments of silence.
Or
Option two: If he did try to clean the dishes Yuu is almost 99.9999% sure that the show-off would try to recreate his basketball moves using plates as the ball which would eventually break and YOU would have to clean up.
Or get your pay docked . . .
Option one it is.
"Fine Floyd. I'll see you tomorrow then."
A slow blink before the six-foot man unrolled his arms, confusion in his voice, "Huh?"
You focused on scrubbing at a black stain on one of the pots, it's a 50/50 if it looks clean or not, "I said 'fine'. I will see you tomorrow." You would not turn back around. You are focused. Focused on these hellish stains.
So focused, you did not even notice Floyd stomp off.
An hour and a half later, wrinkled chicken skin and tender feet that hurt to walk on you were finally given the ok to head home.
It was worth it though, you gasped when Azul gave a copy of his notes. Diagrams, arrows, and color-coded entries determine which grammar was being used. If Azul wasn't such a devil when it came to business he might have been an angel.
Stuffing the notes into her book bag, she winced glancing at her feet and feeling her skin rubbed raw.
Note to self: wear better socks.
Shuffling slowly to the entrance two figures shadowed the bar, Jade polishing a glass and Floyd's with his head down on the counter.
Jade gave a perfected smile, "Ah Prefect, thank you for working so hard today," his eyes glanced down to his brother sulking on the counter, "Floyd told me you were very focused today."
A whine came from Floyd, like his puppy (do merpeople have puppies?) just got kicked. Yuu shuffled around to a bar stool leaning against it, "Well I was trying to get home before ten, but it seems like that wasn't the case tonight."
Floyd kicked his feet against the bar counter another whine leaving him.
Jade blinked, expression turning inquisitive to a not-very well-hidden smirk, "Pardon my manners, but Prefect you seem rather stressed. Isn't that right Floyd?"
Floyd let out a sound that Yuu could not tell if it was an agreement or not, but Jade knew as he placed a perfectly polished flute on the counter.
He smiles, and it sends a small shiver down your spine, "It seems you're unsteady on your feet Prefect, your shoes giving you difficulty?"
He tilts his head to his twin, grin not leaving his face, "It may come as a surprise, but Floyd may be able to help your situation."
Floyd stops kicking the bar and you are trying to make heads or tails of Jade's words. It was late. You were tired. You wanted to go home to whatever rickshaw/graveyard dorm you called a home when other dorms had where place in literally different geo spheres.
You shake your head, "No thanks, I rather deal with my bloody toes another day."
It was as if Jade expected that answer because he just nods, in full understanding, and Jade never fully understood unless it was for his gain you've learned, "It's unfortunate, but I believe this be for better than for not. Remember our favor?"
And no, you don't remember, because there could be a billion favors you owe Jade- from him giving tips to you to keep up with rush hour or simply holding the door open for you- because every act of kindness from him is a disguise for his amusement.
You stare at Floyd, who was oddly quiet at this moment, and you want to collapse but it was better not to ask about favors in front of them both.
They tend to get a little jealous and the rest of your day is gone trying to make one of the two contents until they forget. That person usually being Floyd, because Jade rarely forgets.
You groan, placing a hand on your head to stop your incoming headache.
Fine. What's the worst that can happen?
You probably couldn't imagine what the "worst" was through the pounding in your head as Floyd jumps up, joy evident on his face as he pulls you with him with Jade waving goodbye.
The "worst" was actually being carried chest to chest spinning around in circles through Octavinelle's public lounge which thank god there were nobody in sight, or should you say blurred with the way Floyd keeps twisting you around and around like a whirlpool.
You complain once about Floyd's freakishly long legs walking too fast and this is what you get.
The only way to balance yourself was ducking into his neck shutting your eyes waiting for the experience to be better. You dig in close and Floyd in response is to squeezes you closer.
…It’s not that uncomfortable.
"We're here!" Floyd shouts and you immediately put a hand over his mouth, you don't want to wake anyone else up to this embarrassing scene, for your own sake.
Floyd lowers you to the floor where you gently let go of his neck, your distress evident enough on your face because Floyd is grinning like a kid who just made bank at the candy store.
The door opens one side to messy clothes littered over every droppable surface there is sheets twisted to one corner of the bed, and papers scattered across his desk. In all honesty, it would not be that bad if not for the fact the other side looked like those real state showrooms. Nothing was out of place, no crease on the bedding, and everything was ironed and hanging on a clothing rack not very far from an organized desk. Must be Jade’s side.
Floyd pushes you a bit and you stumble toward his side of the room.
"Hey! I can still walk you know." Dodging some thrown clothes was more difficult as Floyd closes the door.
"Ehhh, but you were just staring Koebi-chan." He gets closer knocking you onto the edge of his bed. Huh. Your heart feels like it's running at a thousand miles per hour as Floyd puts two hands on your shoulders pressing you into the bed so that your sitting, "Relax, relax~ we're just getting started!"
Wha- What does he mean by that!?
His fingers glide gently down your arms, and it feels like fire touching ice for the first time. A strong goosebump sensation travels down leaving just a strange warm feeling filling up your body. It's weird and you don't know how to handle this as he keeps trails down to your hands before gripping them.
You never noticed how much he engulfed you as he gave you a tight squeeze, before lowering onto his knees. He would be between your legs if you weren't squeezing your thighs as hard as possible together. Knocking on your kneecap like a door he gives childish smile, "Move your legs Koebi-chan~" It was to- to much for your poor little heart.
You call out, well it comes out more as a half shriek half whimper as you push at Floyd who was slowly pushing one of your legs aside, "Hey- that! That's too much!"
Floyd blinks, "Too much?" He leans downward, chin onto the edge of your thigh and frowns similar to how you imagine a dog being yelled at. You do everything in your power to stop your voice from shaking, but this was the furthest you have ever gone in your life, and you haven't even kissed!
You mind was quickly turning into a vortex sucking in every single scenario locked in the back of your head and just when you feel the tip of your ears about to burn off a whine interrupts you.
"But Koebi-chan, I just need my tools."
Forget the ears, your whole head was exploding off your shoulders, "T-to-tools!?"
Another nod, "Yup," a pop of the 'p', "ya know to fix your shoes." And your face must be ridiculous because Floyd gives such an uncontrollable laugh his head tilting back before wiping a stray tear from his eye. He grips your ankle loosening the collar between shoe and skin. You let out a small wince as the shoe peels apart from bloody skin, him delicately wriggling out the rest of the shoe off.
He flips the crew shoe upside down, "You see. Koebi-chan’s foot is getting all mashed up like shark food. See, see?" You kind of notice, only the tip of the show is scrubbed off along with a large part of the heel.
Floyd flips the shoe again as he shows you the inside, the heel is worn down to the sole and there is wet blood on the side as he clicks his tounge, "Koebi-chan~ You should've given Azul the right size, now you're payin' for it!" And you would if you could, but only men's sizes are available and that kind of screwed you over a bit for your small feet.
"So- so the tools you were talking about..."
He slides his arms underneath the bed pulling out a worn wooden box. A grin blossoms to life as he unclasps the top of the box revealing what you could only assume to be a cobbler set. Unlike everything else in his room, the tools are polished to a worn type of satisfaction- like an artisan who created each imperfection to conceive perfection.
It wasn't what you were thinking of at all.
It. Wasn't. That. At. All.
Floyd’s smile widens as he sees your puffed-up cheeks, meanwhile scrunching into yourself to hopefully create a black hole to swallow yourself in rather than face embarrassment of misreading the conversation.
"Woah- this is a new phase for Koebi-chan!"
"Just! Just fix my shoes Floyd!"
You look at the clock located on Jade's side of perfection. It read 11:43, and you were surprised that Jade hasn't come back yet, well scratch that, he is dedicated to his craft. You flip over on the bed as Floyd is still extending the collar of your crew shoes. It's a different look you don't see often. Mostly Floyd will be hopping around from area to area with either a smile or frown on his face, but now he just stared in concentration using his tools to create.
You never have seen him like this, and that bothered you- just a bit. You were so used to his voice filling every space of the conversation that all you needed to worry about were your next words. Now all you had were you, him, and your thoughts.
You hate to say this, but maybe it was because you were bored?
A small cough leaks through your mouth, just enough to garner attention and it doesn't even distract him. You frown and just when you are about to turn around to stare at the clock Floyd giggles, "Koebi-chan looks like they're drying up on hot sand."
Rolling your eyes you respond, "Well I am just laying here." Floyd must be amused because you can hear him hum a little tune under his breath as he grabs a canister from the box and a small brush.
"Hey, Floyd."
"Hmmmm~ Whatcha want?"
You think of the best way to ask these questions, but you assume the simpler the better.
"Why do you know how to fix shoes?"
"Hmmmmmm dunno."
"You don't know?" You take another glance at how meticulously he handles every instrument like he carved each one from hand for its own individual purpose. You decide to rephrase, "Is it another hobby?"
Brushing another coat of the mixture onto the tip he cracks his neck turning his lamp to the side, "When I was little, Jade and I sometimes see land-dwellers on land twirling and dancing around.” He tips his brush back into the mixture, “We don’t need feet because it’s not needed ya know. Yet you guys decorate your feet in so many styles its super interesting you know. Just cause we have fins doesn’t mean we paint them weird colors. Suuuper funny you know.”
He clicked his feet together and it was just then you noticed the difference of the style of Floyd's shoes compared to your own brown ones. They were in pristine condition, as the white cut the heel and toe into two parts separating them from matte to a glossier finish with no marks on them. It was much different than the beaten-up ones he currently had between his fingertips.
You never really looked down when talking to Floyd because he was so much taller. You guess you never did notice how pristine his shoes were compared to how frumpy he wore his uniform.
"Heh, seeing how land-dwellers had so many styles for their feet is so funny." He looks at your feet, already bandaged up with some disinfectant, "It's like you have to wear 'em. You landies are so delicate that you need shoes to protect your feet! That's sooooo different~"
You're starting to understand, "And that just makes us all the more interesting huh?"
He grins in a way you can see a sharp tooth poking out on top, "But your wayyyy more interesting than the others Koebi-chan~ .”
Your cheeks start to warm up, but you don’t fall for the bait, “Oh really?”
"M'mhm almost done~"
You roll to a cooler side of the bed, "And I was just getting comfy here." It really was miles above your own cardboard spring bed, you were sinking into this bed than just laying on a rock with some sheets thrown ontop.
Floyd swivels around on his chair and just wheezes as he looks at your form, "HA- Koebi-chan looks like a starfish now!" And you can’t disagree this is one of the comfiest beds you have been on yet it was all disturbed with Floyd gripping your ankles pulling you slowly to the edge of the bed.
“Wake uppp, you have to try em on now.” He whines as you groggle. Sitting on the edge of the bed again, you have purer thoughts this time as Floyd gets down own knee. He folds up your pant leg a couple rolls to expose your ankles better.
Satisfied, he cautiously takes one of the shoes and opens the collar gently guiding your toes in making sure not to catch any of the band aids on the side. You look down at him and again he is so focused, it’s so unlike him yet it doesn’t look that unfamiliar.
Catching the heel in place you are in awe. Instead of the front frow of your toes being squished there was now enough room to wiggle, and your heel wasn’t digging into the back of the shoe anymore. Not only that a new coat of paint was layered of scratches and on the rim of the sole you could see accents of white and grey cutting the style of the shoe leaving it with a trendy type of look.
You twist your foot back and forward looking at his craftsmanship. It’s amazing its spare detail that makes you feel like it’s yours. Something made for you. You and nobody else.
It almost felt like you were Cinderella fitting on the glass shoe.
“Soooo?” He whispers breaking you out of your thoughts, “Perfect fit?” He knows it because he is wearing a grin that reads as ‘say it! say how much you like it!’.
You roll your eyes, “Perfect fit Floyd.” He’s still looking at you with those puppy dog eyes. It’s a little outside your comfort zone but you raise a hand to his scalp and rub in circles, “I really like them.”
They really were perfect. So perfect a concern crosses your mind, “How much does it cost?”
Lazy eyes blink as you stop massaging his head, “Hmmmm?” He thinks for a moment, “Well I’m feelin’ pretty nice today Koebi-chan~” And automatically your brain thinks ‘free?’ but of course this is the dorm of deals akin to mercy so Floyd continues, “How about a kiss?”
…
A kiss…?
Your thought you were in the safe but your brain short circuits all the way to outer space and back, “A- A kiss!? What are you talking about Floyd. That’s- What!”
He pouts, “Well cause after you land-dwellers finish the last song usually you guys kiss right?” He sighs sitting on the floor crossing his legs, “Ya know I dance all the time, but I’ve never kissed anyone after.”
There are so many things wrong with that logic, but your short, circuited mind isn’t making sense, so you say something just as dumb back.
“We aren’t dancing Floyd.”
He looks at you in a way that makes you look like the dense one, “Duh Koebi-chan, that’s why this is the price!” He points to his cheek, “Right here! That’s where I want the kiss!”
Being flabbergasted is an understatement to how you feel right now, Floyd just keeps looking at you expectantly from the floor as he keeps tapping his cheek. It’s just a kiss on the cheek you say to yourself, what’s the worse that can happen? You’ve kissed your mom on the cheek this is fine!
“…fine.” Floyd lights up like its Christmas and you must wonder in the back of your mind if this is really just some elaborate scheme you are playing into. He is not getting up and you are embarrassed beyond the universe as you slide off the bed onto the floor, “Tilt- tilt your cheek to the side.”
He does so without hesitation, you can still see half the smile he is wearing on his face as you put an arm out to steady you as you lean closer and closer- oh please god don’t let my heart kill me- and right when your close enough to close your eyes and quickly press your lips against cool skin you hear a chuckle.
“Eh Koebi-chan face is really cute right now.” And suddenly you feel your chin being jerked as your lips contact something so much softer than what you remember as a child. It’s a little cool and somewhat chapped as you press into him and then he moves! You won’t open your eyes because if you do it feels like the butterflies beating in your chest will explode out of you. Floyd moves his hand to stable you as he rubs the other hand behind the back of your neck relaxing you into him as he moves against you in a way that it takes all your concentration to move with him.
A breath and you are gasping for air like a person held underneath water for far too long. Red face forehead to forehead to cool eyes and Floyd slowly licks his lips and looks at you in a way a hunter has just captured its prey. Devious eyes you think before he leans in again and you follow suit because there was something so addicting with the way Floyd pulls your lower lips with his fang and the way he rubs your arm back and forward as if wanting more of you and the only way you can answer is by gripping him tighter between your fingers.
You break apart and you lean against his chest this time catching your breath as he holds you, if you listened to his heart beat it was almost as fast as yours. You gulp air still passing through your lungs, “Was- Was that enough?” It was hard to hear his response through the blood passing through your ears, but Floyd just laughs as you feel his chest move with every breath, he hold your cheek as he tilts your head up craning it towards his dual-colored eyes.
He has a pretty, pink blush on him as well covering his nose all the way to his cheek bones, you can see the fang that tugs your lips barely peeking out of his smile.
“Hmmmm~ Maybe just one more.” And you close your eyes just one more time.
(Around 11:25pm at Lounge Monstro)
Azul is not having a good day. Not at all. Wasted food and damages, he needed to pay for restoring table 28, 32 and 18 after Floyd for some reason stormed out the kitchen and creating destruction everywhere he went. Azul groans as he flips through number filled papers with red lines and circles.
He thought that he had properly prepared to mitigate these damages when he gave Floyd an early night off but seeing his previous number quadrupled put him into a sour mood.
Reading the clock 11:28, he locks his office ready to get at least four hours of sleep because he still needed to write that business proposal for the headmaster-
“…Jade you’re still here?” He asks taking a step over what seems to be a sleeping bag and a couple books hovering near a campsite lamp, “We talked about this. No “practice” camping in the lounge” Azul warns as he finds Jade near a booth flipping through a book all about mushroom delights.
Jade just looks, with polite smile all he says is, “You can settle all qualms with Ramshackle’s prefect.” As he flips the next page.
Azul groans, Ramshackle’s prefect, another word for headache. Always putting their nose where it’s not supposed to be, but how would that be affecting Jade? Jade being a consistent vice warden understood Azul’s clear confusion and clarifies, “Floyd is with them in the dorm.”
oh….OH
Azul waved his thoughts away, there was no need to deal with this at this very moment instead he hands over the papers in his hand, “Help me with these accounts and you can stay in my room tonight.”
“Oh, how gracious of you.”
“Be quiet. Floyd is working double after tonight.”
Someone said something that sparked more yandere floyd thoughts. Please hear me out.
You start to question your relationship with floyd. Whether that be out of insecurities or noticing Floyd's unhealthier yandere tendencies, it still causes you to avoid and ignore him at all costs. Hed be getting grumpier by the day too. Without his shrimpy his mood 📉📉 descends exponentially. Hes far more agitated and far more likely to deck people without warning.
If you start going so far as to not speak to him in classes and asking the professor to change your placement in the seating chart then Floyd will decide that enough is enough. When he finally manages to corner you he's livid. He hides it under a guise of sadness and disappointment. If you think youre the problem he will immediately say that's wrong and drag you around all while telling you everything he adores about you. If you say hes the problem prepare for the gaslighting that will ensue.
-Floyd Simp
i love u floyd simp anon...i really do... i'm using the one w/ darling realizing floyd's yandere tendencies here~
cw: yandere character + themes
it strikes you one day as you see floyd glaring at an underclassman that maybe there was something wrong with the way he was acting. maybe there was a reason for your friends to talk to you less now, and keep trying to find reasons to run off in the middle of conversations. and maybe, the reason for all of this was floyd.
it was normal for floyd to like you, sure, but you've been starting to feel like he may be liking you a little too much. it sounded silly when you thought of it at first, but the more you've been mulling over the idea, the more everything makes sense. the need for him to be constantly glued to your side, the snarky comments toward all your other friends and classmates, and the way he easily stepped into your space and made himself comfortable; had you really been so blind to all the signs?
it was easy to lose yourself in his intimate caresses and the excitement that followed him, so much so that sometimes, you couldn't comprehend how intense his feelings were getting, how his grip tightened every time you mentioned someone else, and how easily he could convince you to do as he wanted.
still, you didn't think that he'd be so rattled by how you began to avoid him. floyd, you were sure, had better things to do than be upset over your absence, but he seemed strangely bothered by it. you'd often see him watching you closely as you made your way down the halls, and even caught sight of him standing outside the mirror leading to your dorm with an unreadable expression on his face. and you heard, too, that he was starting to become more...irritable.
the appearance of a scowl marring his face was becoming more and more common, which was a jarring contrast to the usual smiles he carried around you, and his words felt...harsher. you've overheard whispers from his dormmates that he's attacked yet another student that week, and you've witnessed for yourself as he threatened an underclassman for stumbling into him outside a classroom. it was all extremely disturbing to watch unfold. was this really the floyd you knew?
initially, you only wanted a more objective view of the situation. you were hoping to reconnect with some old friends and see if it really was floyd who was isolating you, or, as a traitorously hopeful part of you believed, if he was really only looking out for you. however, it had been almost a month by now of you completely cutting off all contact with floyd, and as strange as all the newfound alone time you had no was, it didn't occur to you that he'd be taking it pretty hard as well.
it was hard enough to avoid interacting with him when most of your daily interactions previously were with floyd, but it was made even more awkward when you remembered the two of you sat together in a class you both took. how were you to ignore his presence when he was right next to you? you could feel his eyes on you, you could tell he wanted to talk to you, but you steeled your resolve in wanting to avoid all contact, and refused to acknowledge him.
the day you sat down with someone else instead of your usual seat with floyd, was also the day he finally snapped. he dragged you out of the class with ease, not sparing a single glance at your shocked figure. floyd, it appeared, had other pressing matters to attend to. he finally lets you up in an isolated corner, watching you with a slight frown as you maneuver yourself over to an empty seat,
"why're you ignoring me, shrimpy? what did i do wrong?" floyd's surprisingly calm voice worries you as much as it scares you.
"i don't like the way you treat me," is what you settle on for an answer, "i've been thinking about it and you...i don't need you scaring away people or insisting that you know better than me."
floyd's frown deepens, "but i only do that to make sure you're safe! remember that time i had to throw out that creepy guy from your magical potions class?"
there was that time..."but you've also been unnecessarily rude to my friends. they've done nothing wrong."
floyd sinks into his seat with an exasperated sigh, "it's not my fault that they got all frightened when i only wanted to scare them a little! shrimpy, you reallyyy can't blame me for that."
for a moment, you consider his argument. floyd could be intimidating to most people, and you were well aware of what an eccentric sense of humor he had. but was that all there was to it? did he really not mean to chase away your friends with his presence?
"i'm always looking out for you," he continues, "there are some real weirdos in nrc, you know? i love being with you 'cause we have so much fun together, and i can't have someone hurting my little shrimpy, or tryin' to take you away."
"say, you miss me too, don'tcha?" floyd leans in a little too close, "you know, i was real hurt when you moved away from me. you're not mad anymore, right? i'll make it up to you, if you want~"
"but—"
"ehh?" he's pouting now, and you're almost expecting him to start whining as well, "don't be like that, shrimpy! i said i was sorry already—oh, it's time for your next class!"
there's still so much you want to say, though at the pace floyd is pulling you out the door, you know that you'll have to save your words for another day. next time, you promise yourself, you won't let yourself be phased by his excuses.
Just Like Animals
SUMMARY: Floyd isn't what he appears to be on the outside. WORD COUNT: ~300
WARNINGS: Basically yandere/possessive/jealous Floyd, NOT FLUFF, Floyd being genuinely scary to everyone except you, Grim please be careful, Floyd hurting someone (implied??), scary ending (to me, I'm weak) A/N: When I say Floyd is one of my fav characters (was my first pick at the start, now Azul is my first) yet I still knew I had to write this- I could most definitely make a whole series out of this with yandere TWST boys but I'm tired and lazy (I absolutely want to do the Octavinelle trio because I'm biased but I also don't have time) (I can 100% see Jade being creepier than Floyd but I don't think my "I get scared when watching horror movies" self could handle it) I casually wrote this in under 30 minutes hahaha I need sleep and to do my homework Song this is based from is: Animals by Maroon 5
Floyd had never stuck you as the possessive type. Or the jealous type.
But you couldn't deny that you felt a bit relieved when he offered to 'squeeze' whoever hurt you.
You knew he was good at protecting you, after all.
What you didn't know was the nature of how he looked after you.
You thought it was normal, but it clearly wasn't to others.
No one was hurting Floyd's koebi-chan, and everyone knew it.
Not even Jade or Azul could get away with doing anything to you. If they even touched a singular hair on your head… Pretty things wouldn't happen.
And if it was anyone else, worse things would definitely occur.
He was always in a good mood with you - but when he was away from you, his moods were often sour.
He was such a lighthearted goofball when he was with you that you found yourself forgetting how dangerous he could be.
You had seen him almost hurt Grim once because "he had been too rude to you" (you were used to it at this point, there was no use in hurting the furball).
Every time you even tried to be friendly to another human, Floyd was always there, almost like he was claiming you as his.
He was always there, always with you.
It got to the point where it could be seen as creepy.
Still, you brushed it off as it was just Floyd. He was always like that.
Then one day, you woke up, freezing as you felt someone beside you in your bed. You turned to see a mop of teal hair. It made you feel sick, almost like you were going to throw up.
Why was he here, in your room - laying so close to you? What was going on?
Floyd nuzzled into you, holding you close to his chest. His special treasure.
"I'm never letting you go, koebi-chan~"
Some short cute scenarios of the octavinelle trio relating to magicam! (Jade,Floyd, Azul x reader with no specified gender)
-Jade runs one of those foraging accounts you see on YouTube where he shows people different types of plants/fungus. He gets especially excited talking about his collection and how he tends to his plant babies. Most viewers first started watching him for his voice, hands, and appearance but stayed for the information. One day he asked you for some help with transporting a pot/harvesting a rare plant and got you on video. You didn't think much of it at first and just went on with your day, but when he uploaded the video his fans were all commenting, asking who you were because they liked your voice and found it rare to see someone other than Floyd in the videos. He responded in the next video by saying “That’s a secret~” and people start speculating and talking about who you might be. You end up making more appearances but your face is never shown as Jade wants to keep his beloved all to himself~ and well, he is amused at his fans reactions and want to keep them guessing ;)
-Floyd is canonly very caught up on the latest trends and fashion. He has a big wardrobe and buys alot of different clothing items and accessories. It definitely costs a lot of money so Azul suggested for him to be one of those influencers that post their fits in order to get brand deals to support that lifestyle. Floyd agreed and is actually interested in doing it consistently, he eventually gets pretty popular on magicam because of that and gets invited to a high end luxury brands fashion show. He initially didn't want to go but found out that you liked the brand so he took the offer and brought you with him. You guys got dressed in matching outfits and went to the show together and go viral for your matching outfits and how compatible you both look. Floyd especially for his eyes, tallness, and unique appearance but you also looked very gorgeous alongside him, had great chemistry. Brands end up sending Floyd loads of clothes for upcoming couple lines and you guys ended up with lots of pictures and some fond memories together~
-As you spend more time in NRC you and Azul have gotten closer, chatting often during passing period and collaborating on projects. He was initially cautious of you and did not think you would become such a special and important person to him. He loves your kind words and feels as if you really understand him, he is still scared and a bit hesitant on telling you about his past. Will you decide to turn away from him like the others or will you accept him for who he is? He hopes for the latter...regardless, he wanted to show his gratitude for you by taking you out on a date to watch that one movie you've been excited about recently. You guys plan it out and go to to the theaters together, snacking on popcorn while giggling together at the funny scenes. As you guys walk out, hand in hand, a few people see you guys and end up snapping a pic of you two together because you guys just look so good! None of you realized because you were both enjoying the moment and excited to talk about your thoughts on the ending. Once you guys got back to the dorms you were bombarded with messages from Cater talking about how you and Azul went viral online. You were shocked and went to notify Azul who also just heard the news, both of you ended up reading through the trending tags and comments. You both blushed at the compliments you guys got, such as:
"they look so compatible", "the way he looks at [insert pronouns]>>>", "I love their outfits", "omgg the chemistry between these two", etc
People were wondering if you guys were upcoming models or something and were comparing you guys to known couples from dramas/television. It was an unexpected event but brought you guys closer in the end~
Match Made in Madness - Floyd Leech x reader
Soulmates get updates of each other's lives through an overly enthusiastic dream narrator. What's worse is that your soulmate seems to be completely unhinged.
It all starts on another one of those nights—the weird dream where your soulmate’s day is narrated to you in the most ridiculous fashion imaginable. No names, no faces, just an over-the-top, enthusiastic narrator who acts like they’re introducing a daytime soap.
"Good evening, soulmate! Ready for another wild day? Well, buckle up, because your beloved got into a fight with a vending machine!"
You groan in your sleep, already bracing for what’s next. The narrator continues with gleeful energy:
"After losing said battle, your soulmate kicked the machine and declared, ‘I’ll have the last laugh, metal box!’ Later in the day, they spent 45 minutes trying to convince a bird to become their personal spy. Spoiler alert: the bird didn’t agree, but they’re not giving up anytime soon!"
When you wake up, you rub your eyes and mutter, "What the hell is my soulmate doing?" Clearly, the universe decided to match you with an absolute madman, and you’re starting to wonder if you’ll even survive meeting them.
The dreams continue for weeks, and the updates get progressively weirder. Whoever this person is, they have the chaotic energy of a tornado in a convenience store. One night, you get this gem:
"Exciting news! Today, your soulmate tried to see if they could juggle three eels at once. Spoiler: they couldn’t, but they did manage to send one flying into a professor’s lunch. Next on the agenda, they challenged the ocean to a race. The ocean won."
You’re so used to these bizarre updates by now that you don’t even flinch. Instead, you’re beginning to wonder why the universe thinks it’s funny to torture you with someone who clearly doesn’t have a firm grasp on reality.
And then one night, the narrator drops a bombshell:
"Your soulmate spent the entire afternoon wondering if there’s any way they could convince their twin brother to switch places with them on a date— Oh wait, forget I said that! That one’s classified!*"
What? Now, you’re officially on edge. Not only do they have a twin, but they’ve been thinking about dating? This is spiraling out of control.
You’re sitting at the Mostro Lounge, thinking about the increasingly unhinged dreams when you spot Floyd Leech across the room. Normally, you’d ignore him because, well, Floyd has a reputation, and it’s not exactly “outstanding member of society.”
But today, something feels off. You’ve heard a few things—people say he’s chaotic, unpredictable, and obsessed with “playing” with his victims. And suddenly, you can’t stop thinking about the dream where your soulmate tried to juggle eels.
Floyd catches your eye, and before you can look away, he’s making a beeline for your table. Oh no. Please no.
“Hey, Shrimpy,” he says with his usual, lazy grin, flopping down in the seat next to you like he owns the place. “You look like you’ve seen a ghost.”
Close enough.
You swallow hard. “Uh… just thinking.”
“Thinking, huh?” Floyd leans in, uncomfortably close. “What about?”
How are you supposed to say, I think you’re my soulmate, but I’m also convinced you’re a lunatic? Instead, you nervously laugh. “Oh, nothing. Just… dreams.”
“Dreams, huh?” Floyd’s eyes narrow, but he looks more interested than suspicious. “Like… those ones where some random guy is juggling eels?”
Your blood runs cold.
“Wait—how did you know about the eels?”
Floyd’s grin widens. “Oh? So it is you! I knew it!” He laughs, leaning back with a satisfied look, like he’s just solved the greatest mystery of his life. “Shrimpy, you’re hilarious! I’ve been having those dreams about you, too. You’re always doing weird stuff, like… rescuing ducks or tripping over your own feet.”
Your heart races. “Wait, so—you're my soulmate?”
“Duh,” Floyd says, rolling his eyes like it’s the most obvious thing in the world. “The universe has a sense of humor, doesn’t it?”
At first, you’re convinced this is a prank, a cruel joke. But the more you talk to Floyd, the more everything starts to click into place. He’s chaotic, sure. Completely unpredictable? Absolutely. But he’s also the same person who, according to your dreams, once wondered if seaweed could be used as a fashion statement. He’s also the guy who—oh right—challenged the ocean to a race.
And now that you’ve met him, you realize one important detail: he’s perfect.
Well, perfect in the most unhinged way possible.
A week later, you find yourself in an increasingly ridiculous situation—Floyd has somehow convinced you to help him “steal” a giant fish from the campus pond.
“Why are we doing this again?” you ask, holding the bucket as he dives headfirst into the water.
“Because,” Floyd says between splashes, “the fish looks like he’s having a bad day, so we’re gonna give him a makeover.”
You stare blankly at the pond. “You want to makeover a fish.”
Floyd pops back up, water dripping from his hair, with a grin that could melt glaciers. “Yeah! Why not?”
You don’t have a good answer for that, so you just shrug. This is my life now.
That night, you’re lying in bed, starting to doze off, when the dream narrator pops up again:
"Good evening, soulmate! Today, your other half tried to give a fish a new look. It didn’t work, but they still had fun! Also, they’ve been thinking about holding your hand."
You wake up with a groan, rubbing your face in disbelief. Of course, Floyd would think about something like that in the middle of a fish-stealing escapade. But there’s something undeniably sweet about it, too.
The next day, Floyd grabs your hand without warning as you’re walking through campus. “I had a dream about this,” he says casually, like it’s the most normal thing in the world.
You smile, squeezing his hand back. “So did I.”
Maybe the universe isn’t such a prankster after all.
Stuff of Fairytales - Floyd
Author Notes: Happy MerMay Twisted Wonderland! I won't lie, this fic kind of flew together while I was just sitting and chatting with my mom and sister. It doesn't have any specific music that it was written to or anything like that and my only real idea that went into this was MerMay. Nonetheless, I had fun writing this fic. As per usual, Reader is gender-neutral. I hope you enjoy!
Type: Gender-neutral reader/ MerMay/ fluff/ romance implied/ sfw
Word Count: 1264
Ignoring Floyd was always something that one did at one’s own risk. Especially when he was staring quite as pointedly as he was staring at me right now. And even more especially so considering that I was sitting on the edge of the pool while Floyd was in his merform.
He drifted over, and I cautiously met his stare, not entirely sure as to what I should expect from him.
For one thing, he’d been oddly peaceful this entire time. And while that didn’t necessarily mean anything, it still felt suspiciously like the calm before a storm.
He tilted his head, slowly coming to a steady stop right in front of me before crossing his arms and resting them on my knees, where I had my legs hanging over the edge of the pool and in the cool water, “Hey Shrimpy, did your world have any merpeople?”
His tone was relatively innocent, but I still felt my eyebrows lift warily before I shook my head. Half-surprised by his question even as I answered him, “No… They’re the stuff of fairytales in my world…. Kind of like magic is.”
He hummed, rolling his mismatched eyes up to meet mine as he rested his chin on his arms. Almost as if he were, suspiciously enough, trying to look innocent.
I watched him silently for a moment before finally biting the bullet and questioning him as he continued to stare up at me, “Why?”
That singular word had a grin splitting its way across his face, perfectly displaying his too-sharp teeth that made so many others uncomfortable.
But just like how I’d somehow gotten used to his merform’s slimy texture, I was perfectly used to his sharp-toothed grins by now.
“Nothing~ It just explains why you had such a cute, surprised reaction when you first saw mine and Jade’s merforms.”
I rolled my eyes slightly at his teasing tone, even as I smiled despite myself at his words, “You say that like I was the only one who was surprised. I seem to recall Ace, Deuce, Jack, and Grim all being pretty shocked too.”
Despite my words, I couldn’t deny that I had been genuinely startled. Floyd and Jade were nothing like the fluttery, magical creatures I’d imagined as a child. Instead, they were far more dangerous-looking. Something that was fitting, considering their personalities.
But even then, there had still been something enchanting about seeing a merperson for the first time. Much less two of them.
Not that I was ever going to tell Floyd that. He was already amused enough as it was.
Floyd faux-pouted up at me in an almost playful manner, “But none of them were cute. They just looked like a bunch of guppies silently opening and closing their mouths.”
He paused as I fought the urge to snort at his analogy, and, as if somehow he could sense my amusement, he grinned again. His tail slashing through the water as his eyes all but sparkled at me, “You weren’t like that though, Shrimpy. Your eyes were all bright. Like you were excited.”
I almost sighed at his pointed, pleased-sounding words. Because while I couldn’t say that they were wholly accurate, they were a little too perceptive in a way that I could only describe as very Octavinelle.
Floyd, Jade, and Azul were all practically uncanny when it came to their ability to hit upon something people didn’t want them to know.
“I wasn’t excited….” I trailed off unconvincingly, not entirely sure how to defend myself in this situation since he wasn’t entirely wrong.
Lying would be useless. Floyd was so used to his brother’s slippery nature that he would be able to see through any fib I came up with in a nanosecond.
I didn’t have to rush, though. Floyd was waiting. An amused smile on his face as he waited for me to give up in a rare display of patience from the usually restless young man.
But then, I supposed being patient might be easier when victory was assured. His grin wasn’t making it any easier for me to come up with an excuse, though.
“Well, how would you react if you suddenly saw something out of a fairytale?!” I gave up in an exasperated half-surrender.
I refused to tell Floyd that a slight bit of childish enchantment and awe had shot through me when I’d first seen him and his brother’s merforms.
Doing that would just result in him telling his brother, and then there really would be no escaping the teasing and harassment.
As it was, I would just have to put up with Floyd’s teasing and amusement until he drifted onto another topic. He might bring back up my initial reaction to his merform every so often, but I could deal with that.
After all, it was only fair with how often I got to pick him on numerous things as well.
At odds with my expectations of his laughter, Floyd straightened from where he’d been resting his chin on his arms this entire time and tilted his head in a thoughtful fashion.
After a brief moment, he grinned, and something ever-so-slightly worrying flickered through his mismatched eyes as he met my gaze once more, “I guess I’d squeeze ‘em.”
Before I could even think about reacting, his arms were wrapping themselves around my waist. Pulling me closer and squeezing me with a surprising degree of care considering who it was that I was dealing with.
I gasped slightly in surprise at both his actions and the cold from his wet arms, my hands flying up and grabbing hold of his shoulders in a slight panic. Not entirely trusting him to not pull me into the pool with him.
I didn’t go splashing down into the water though, and my reaction only caused Floyd to grin even more at me, “Your reactions are too much fun, Shrimpy~”
His words were all but cooed, and I frowned slightly, “Floyd, you know your slime is hard to get out of clothes.”
I scolded him in retaliation, continuing to frown down at him, but my words were met with little more than a nonchalant shrug from the merman, who certainly didn't seem like he was going to be letting go of me anytime soon.
In fact, he seemed perfectly content, smiling up at me from the pool that I was now perched precariously on the edge of. Fully relying on Floyd to keep me balanced as he held onto me.
He smiled, tilting his head slightly, perfectly unbothered as he grinned up at me, “Just use the washer at Octavinelle and tell Azul it’s my fault.”
I sighed at his words, feeling myself surrender ever-so-slightly as I let a smile slip onto my face. Sometimes it really did feel like there was no winning against Floyd, and, to be fair, his plan probably would work.
Azul was nothing if not used to Floyd’s mercurial ways that often caused him troubles.
I relaxed, letting my hands continue to rest easily on Floyd’s shoulders as I smiled down at him, “Just don’t come whining to me later.”
He outright grinned at my words, his eyes sparkling in an almost challenging way, “No promises~”
I shook my head fondly at both him and his words as I continued to smile down at the man who hugged me close to him.
Floyd himself might not exactly be the stuff of fairytales, but he was definitely unforgettable, and there wasn’t a thing I would change about him.
Even if he could be a pest sometimes.
Nightmare Comfort Octavinelle
Prompt: Y/N had a nightmare and asks comfort
Characters: Azul, Jade, Floyd
✨🌸Fluff🌸✨
Y/N is going to be gender neutral to the best of my abilities. They/Them Pronouns, and I’m going to try and avoid gendered descriptors <3
TW/CW: Not describing what was in the nightmare but if that ambiguity bothers you and makes your mind spiral please don’t read and have a wonderful night,
Heartslabyul | Savanaclaw | Octavinelle (Here) | Scarabia | Pomefiore | Ignihyde | Diasomnia |
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Y/N jolted upright, holding their chest as it felt as if their heart would run away. They tried to calm their breathing and their thoughts, unable to shake the horrors their subconscious cruelly subjected them to. They took some deep breaths and manage to calm themself enough to look at the time. They squinted as the cheap phone Crowley gave them lights up and the numbers display on the screen. It was late.
They wondered if it may be too late to ask for comfort from someone. Of course they could just pet Grim but they didn't feel like dealing with the feline whining and complaining in that moment. So taking another deep breath both to sooth their shaky hands and for some courage, they opened their contacts to make a phone call.
Azul Ashengrotto
Y/N stared at Azul's contact for a while. They weren't sure why he insisted on putting his number in their phone but it was safe to assume it was just easy access to make a deal with him. They sighed softly, not sure if they wanted to risk getting condescended to by the business man at a time like this. They let out a small sigh, pushing that thought to the side and called him. The phone barely had time to ring before his voice came through, as charismatic as ever.
"Y/N!" he started, "what reason do you have to be calling me so late? Answer quickly, I'm a very busy man, you know."
"Ah.. I was actually wondering if..." they trailed off, seemingly losing the ability to form a coherent sentence suddenly.
"Continue," the merman prompted them.
"Maybe you could stay on the phone with me for a while?" they hid their face as if he could see them through the phone. Saying it out loud to Azul was more embarrassing than they had anticipated.
"Hm.. I suppose it wouldn't hurt to have company," he paused for a moment, the loud sound of papers being shuffled coming through, "though it'll cost you" they could tell that he was smirking by the smug tone in his voice.
"... maybe I should have called someone else," they sighed shakily.
"No-" he said with a sudden sternness, "ahem.. I've just decided your company will be trade enough."
They laughed a little, "you don't want to be alone either, do you?"
"Don't be ridiculous, I quite enjoy my solitude," he huffed
"Okay, Takoyaki," they snort
"Did you just... you know what nevermind, I'll call you back on video."
Azul hung up, calling back fairly quickly. He already had the phone propped up as he worked. He looked much less put together than his usual professional appearance. His tie was undone, resting around his neck, as well as a few buttons on his shirt were left undone. He was missing the coat from his dorm uniform too, though it was too late to be all that worried about appearances. It's not like there would be customers this late.
Y/N smiled a little, snuggling into their covers after propping their phone up.
"Azul?" they spoke softly
"Y/N, I need to focus. How chatty do you plan on being?" he glances over at them.
"Not very.. Thank you."
"For?"
"Staying here with me"
Azul's cheeks dusted pink as he looked back to his papers, looking composed otherwise, "Mm of course. How else would I guarantee your patronage?" he joked with a small smirk.
Jade Leech
Y/N bit their lip anxiously, as they stared intently at Jade's number. The eel wasn't nearly as volatile as his brother but that was what was insidious about him. What if he used this against them later? What if he blackmails them? It was a fair assumption of course even if they considered the two of them friends but they really didn't want to be alone. They took a deep breath and called him before there was time for anymore doubt to flood their mind.
They bit their bottom nervously, fidgeting with anything and everything in the short amount of time it took for Jade to pick up the phone.
"Good Evening, Y/N," he spoke with a smooth and clearness that implied he hadn't yet gone to bed, "you're up late, is there something you need?"
"Yeah there is," they adjusted themself and took a breath, gathering their confidence.
all their confidence dissipated when they heard his signature mocking yet polite chuckle, "well, are you going to tell me or should I come see for myself?"
"You don't need to come see!" they yelped out at the mere suggestion of the eel coming to them, "..well there's nothing to see, I just had a really bad nightmare,"
"I see, and you wanted some form of comfort?" he asked, voice smooth and words calculated.
"Yes.."
"And how exactly will I be compensated for this?" he asked slyly.
"My eternal gratitude?" they pleaded halfheartedly.
"I need a bit more than that, though you should hurry. We wouldn't want to lose more sleep, would we?"
"No.. how about this, I'll come foraging with you at some point," they suggested, though it wasn't necessarily one of their big interests they were willing. They enjoyed Jade's company anyway so why not?
"Yes, I do believe that will be a sufficient enough trade off,' he chuckled, feeling an immense amount of satisfaction from this exchange.
"So should I call back on video?"
"No, that won't be necessary."
"What?"
another chuckle was heard before the click of Jade hanging up came through. "Maybe he's going to call back, and that's why he's being all cryptic," they thought up this lie to make themself feel better, getting more and more concerned as they waited, but there was no phone call. Instead there was a knock on the door, not the front door, but their bedroom door. They jumped in surprise. "Did he.. come here anyway..?" they questioned internally, getting up and opening the door. Sure enough, there the eel was, directly in front of them with a sly smirk on his face and hand elegantly drawn to his lips.
"Once again, good evening,"
"You really didn't have to come all the way out here.. you look like you haven't slept at all yet,"
"I haven't, we had a lot of work to do at the lounge,"
"Well then why are you here? What's Azul going to say?"
"I'm sure Azul will manage just fine without me, you forget he's the boss," he laughed and leaned down a bit closer to their face, scanning their features for any kind of reaction.
They pushed his face away instinctually, feeling as if he was treating them like some meek prey animal that is to be studied before hunted. He was thoroughly entertained by such a reaction of course.
"Now, I suppose I should ask how you'd like me to get you back to sleep," he smirked, taking off his coat and getting comfortable.
Floyd Leech
Y/N wondered if it would be a good idea to call Floyd. He was a huge wild card, call him when he's in a bad mood and there's no telling what might happen. That's a lie of course, its likely to just result in one of his signature squeezes or getting mauled by the eel. Of course there was a chance he'd be in good mood and they would receive some sort of comfort. They squinted at the phone but shrugged as they call him. The worst that could happen was he threatens them a little, they'd be fine. They smiled a little after telling themself this.
"Shrimpy~!" the eel picked up and whined happily, clearly having just woken up, "whatcha doing up so late?"
"Well, uh.. I had a nightmare," they explained sheepishly.
"Aw, poor Shrimpy," he teased, "how about I come give you a big squeeze," they could just tell from the tone of his voice he had the biggest grin on his face.
"Are you talking about a hug or.."
"A hug obviously," he giggled, the sound of shuffling and something dragging along the mic coming through loud enough that they moved their phone away from them.
"You don't have to come over!" they spoke, panic clear in their voice.
"But I wanna," he whined.
"Okay," they sighed, not wanting to accidentally trigger a mood swing.
"Alright I'll be over in a flash," he hung up.
Y/N sighed and pinched the bridge of their nose before getting up. They walked downstairs and waited patiently in their living room area. Ramshackle was run down sure but at least the sofa was still comfortable to sit on. They jumped as they heard the front door swing open.
"Shrimpy~!" Floyd mused loudly, closing the door and rapidly approaching.
As soon as the two locked eyes, a mischievous glint gleamed in Floyd's eyes. A huge grin was plaster firmly on his face before swiftly pouncing on the magicless human. They let out an loud yelp and squirmed but to no avail. Floyd was getting his hug Cackling while writing this part.
"Poor, poor Shrimpy. Lets get back to bed," Floyd yawned, carrying Y/N back to bed.
He held them in a similar way to how someone would hold their favorite stuffed animal. Y/N didn't mind too much, this was actually quite endearing and cute in his own little way. Floyd was careful not to crush them when he flopped onto the bed with them, though the same can't be said for poor grim who scrambled away quickly. The cuddles were immaculate
