Ruggie's hand was warm.

You stared at him as he layed on your lap, clearly tired out from well- everything. Leona was sending him out on more errands than usual today, his phone bill is due soon, he worked 2 long shifts yesterday, he didn't have time for lunch, Magift practice was wearing him out, and worst of all- you were too busy to even hug him in between his crisises.

So yes. He's gonna take a few ten minutes to sit down with you, head resting on your lap- one hand holding yours and another holding the sandwich you made him as he quietly munches on it.

"...you're staring." Ruggie mumbled, voice soft- nothing like his usual mischievous or playful demeanor.

"I know. Just admiring you." You reply.

Ruggie's tail waged back and forth a bit, a small blush on his face.

Abt the point of percy not liking to show vulnerability, this makes sense cuz if yoy think about it, if you go to the food court with them- and you choose stay with percy, summer mc asks if he wanted to reward percy, and he went "what? No, what is he- my pet?"

Maybe he doesnt like to admit his fondness to others as well.

ALSO

When you meet percy before the barbecue, he starts flirting with the mc. A part of me thinks this is so he can put the attention on the flirting instead of a weak moment.

If you decide your mc doesnt like this, elio later on says something along the lines of "Really percy?"

Maybe hes gone too far with his tactical flirting.

i can't help but notice the details of Percy reacting to mc's "aw" over his soft spot for Elio by STEPPING ON THEIR TOES.

and that time when he was telling the turtle story with Jamie and he cut himself off just to say "don't look at me like that" right after saying he didn't have a lot of friends as a kid.

so i'm getting the impression bro does NOT like to show vulnerability 😅 and would rather not acknowledge his own negative emotions. am i on the right track? maybe, maybe not, but i feel like i am.

there's also that time during the obstacle course, if you choose to grab Elio's shirt, Percy shows up later by grabbing both your shoulders and flinging you back 😭 J:"What goes around..." P:"Bites you in the ass! Seeya!"

aaand technically that time in the jousting match, if you choose to pair up with Cam and target Elio, he and Jamie show up for revenge almost immediately. could just be their loyalty as friends, but i feel like it's important.

speaking of the jousting match, if you team up with Cam and target Percy instead, after the match is over he says "Hush up, you. I won't be forgetting what you did that easily." which kinda alludes to me he's more sensitive to things like betrayal? even from the prologue he didn't seem like a very trusting person, so i think it adds up.

again, this is just my speculation, but i'm just laying it out there. some of this miiiight be a stretch tho lol

The rough sketch of this comic has been sitting in my phone notes for a while and I finally had the motivation to draw it out!

Mei loves to tease/fluster Red Son in the show and the idea of her getting hit with the Uno Reverse card and just '.exe not working' in response is really funny to me. MK is just unfortunate enough to have to keep witnessing these instances.

I had the thought while working on it that it would be fun to draw Red Son's hair being in a constant state of flaming up as a way to show his nervousness. (also because I love making stuff glow c:)

In case you haven't heard yet, Colossal, the biotech company that earlier this year showed off their "woolly mouse," has announced that they de-extincted "dire wolves." I put this in quotes, because just like with the mice, they didn't truly bring them back (nothing can actually do that, yet) or even really make them.

What they actually did was kind of neat; they copied genes sequenced from dire wolf DNA and inserted them into the grey wolf genome (replacing grey wolf DNA, as they said gray wolves shared a significant percentage of their genome (which isn't saying a TON considering how much the human and chimp genome have in common without being nearly the same animals, but it's better than taking, say, a turtle's genome or something else super unrelated), to create a wolf with genes that dire wolves had.

And while that's not really the same thing as building a dire wolf completely from scratch, so to speak, and it's not really "cloning" them either, it's still pretty cool science, and just like with the woolly mouse, the work (ie, altering/editing multiple genes at once from sequenced DNA of deceased individuals) COULD apply to conservation of actual species (for example, having the ability to widen the genome of remaining breeding individuals of an endangered species, with DNA from deceased individuals). I'm not sure if it IS applying to other species right now (at least not through this company, despite their stated claims to want to), but it is one of their stated goals and it would work.

Also, they're pretty cute

As they were born in October 2024, they now have their own 2,000 acre reserve where Colossal is monitoring them closely. There are two males and one female, but as they've stated they do not have plans to breed them, I'm not sure where the female is being kept in relation to the males, but I suspect she's the solo-wolf pictured, vs the pics of the pair.

Anyway, that's all happening.

The first time you called Leona Kingscholar, a nickname- anyone else would have paused at how baffling it was to hear Leona be called anything but Leona, and to him- most nicknames felt mocking. ( " 'Roi de Lions' my ass" <- him) But when you were sitting with him on his usual napping spot, reading another shitty book, it slipped out, like you didn't even think of it.

"Ugh Leo, why is the main character so dumb?" You said, clearily annoyed as you roller your eyes at what the main lead just said.

Leona noticed the nickname. Of course he did. His eyes flicked to you- a small smilie coming upon his face.

"Fuck if I know." He mumbled.

'Leo' felt natural to him. He didn't hate it.
