"I am a wisteria"

Everyone wants a freshly cut rose, but I'm a Wisteria.

My flowers dance to the movement of the air. Unlike everyone else, I do not appear to care.

For, unlike the lovely red roses that entice many people to adore them, I sway freely in the breeze, knowing that my brilliant purple color only draws those who can value my hue. I don't care what others think; I simply do what I want to do.

Nature surrounds me and forces me to accept my place in the world. I stand tall and steady, hoping not to be cut by those who don't care enough about me to let me survive or those who don't respect my life. Unlike the red roses who let others enjoy their beauty, I stand strong knowing my worth.

As a wisteria tree, I understand that few people are interested in learning about me. And like a wisteria tree, I wait for those who do.

So far, I've got someone or something. I'm captivated by the beauty of nature.

The red roses may have fallen in love with a gardener who would cut and sell them when they had enough of the roses and no longer had time to care for them,

but I fell in love with the vibrant sunsets, the breeze that always welcomed me, the animals like the dogs who come and play in the shade that I provide, and the beetles that rest on my wisteria flowers. I see myself as a reflection of everything I cherish.

They are the daffodils and daisies.

I am the weeds, I am the grass.

I'm always chopped and changed.

I am rejected and cut down,

Watching the other flowers wear a crown.

A crown I desperately crave,

But my mind makes me a slave,

Telling me I'd never deserve to be crowned by anyone,

Telling me I'm nothing but a parasite plant.

I used to be beautiful before my masochistic mind took the lead,

And somehow I became a bad seed.

I am the once rich milk, now turned sour.

I am the wilted flower.

I am the red rose that once was.

I still love myself but it's harder on some days because it feels like nobody else does.
