how deeply gal loves and has loved - how she still tries to express it, is something that weighs on my mind a whole lot. how difficult it is for her to open herself up to be able feel deeply for another - be that in the platonic or romantic sense, how it makes her afraid of her own nature. how much the death of her husband and brothers shut her down emotionally , how she channelled those feelings , her fear of exposing herself , into waging war and bringing death to those she deemed responsible for the misery and pain of her kind. not not only that, but she seeks it out selfishly , from a place of darkness within herself that she believes only destroying the evil (and herself imho) will release. she is no paragon of virtue , indeed she acknowledges that her own kin often cannot tell her apart from the evil he hunts , the evil she is obsessed with. she knows she is companionless - that she is estranged and looked at with pity for walking the path she choses. so much so that she has become stranger amongst her own kind. but she moves along it, the road she has forged - alone. bracing herself, hardening herself with every set back and every victory, as brief as her relief may be. i think about how meeting halbrand on the raft was a revelation to her. that her heart cracked open - and for a flickering and beautiful moment she felt connected and the pure and unadulterated hope that burned within her grew brighter because of it. that they could be bound together and she would no longer be alone. i think about what remains of her heart now. how she would rather think of him as dead. how she knows that he still exists. she will be haunted for the rest of her days and would rather exist that way than be truly alone again.

but i also think about the galadriel who knew the light of the trees, of artanis and her innocent heart , of the illuminated being who inspired the silmarils - who loved music and dancing and simply being with her family. that she tries to seek these things out now, in small gestures and words. these two sides of her are almost like different people in my head - so removed from each other now that she cannot reconcile them in her own mind. she tries, with relationships built with those she seeks to protect and guide. in the memories she clings to and protects so fiercely. in the simple and delicate braiding of hair and the placement of flowers. in the untamed beauty she witnesses travelling arda , the land of her forefathers, the peace she once sought - it all helps her hold onto the light that burns so brightly inside of her. it dims, it flickers, it is coveted and inflamed. but it is never extinguished. her despair exists beside her hope, alloyed yet imperfect. the ghosts of her past will always haunt her. yet she learns to cherish them - because when they are with her she is no longer alone.

If I had any kind of drawing/editing skills I’d love to take Rose’s early issues+TT03+Knight Terrors & do an edit to Girl With One Eye where the singer switches btwn rose’s younger & current self (chorus obvsly being younger singing to older). Like listen when you turn it into a song abt self-loathing I think it adds a nice little Zing! of angst ykwim?

Florence is my favorite artist, so I watch the clips of her singing Florida with her and just still do not get itttttttt her singing just is like fine I guess. I just don’t understand why the entire world goes gaga for ts?

What it sounds like when she’s proud of a project and director! Says a lot that even after a breakup, they can promote a movie together. Makes you wonder how bad the DWD/O situation was that she barely did press and definitely no face to face interviews with her director. ☮️

I saw pics from the premiere yesterday!

They looked comfortable on the red carpet and she’s been so complimentary of Zach in interviews and social media posts.

What a difference, right? Just recently Florence declined to talk about DWD again. Her silence really speaks volumes when you see how professional she is and how easily/willingly she praises her projects and the people involved. I can’t imagine how frustrating it was for her to see the media spin her setting up boundaries for herself as her being childish or jealous. I’m sure we know who fed that nonsense to the press. 🙄
