"come on, just let me put a little bit of glitter on you? it'll be cute." florence herself was only half dressed, walking around in a mini skirt and a bralette with her own makeup setting. now that they were living together, dani seemed to be a constant distraction. if she was always in reach, why wouldn't she be talking to her or sitting next to her or kissing her or touching her? "please?" she pleaded, batting her eyelashes as she sorted through her eyeshadow palettes for one with a lot of purples. "this would look so good on you."

Top 10 Horror Films (UPDATED)
10. The Conjuring (2013)
On paper, The Conjuring could easily be considered your average haunted house film. While that may be the case, we are following a fictionalised version of a true story. Ed and Lorraine Warren (played by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga, respectively) are paranormal investigators who agree to help a family in need, as they find their new house to be riddled with demonic possession. An extremely standard concept, but beautifully executed. I'm certain the hide and seek scene will remain an iconic horror moment for years to come.
9. Midsommar (2019)
This is going to sound strange, but this is the first cult-related film I have seen that actually runs the risk of warming you to the idea of a cult. I do believe, however, that this was the intention. Dani (Florence Pugh) begins the film with the devastating loss of her sister and parents. In an attempt to bring her out of her funk, her boyfriend invites her to a Swedish celebration with him and his friends. During the stay, Dani seems to find her place amongst the people there, but others are not so lucky. It's an intense watch, definitely only suited to the maturer audience, but do be prepared to end your viewing unsure of how to feel about what you've just watched.
8. Us (2019)
Who'd have thought that Jordan Peele would be creating such fabulously constructed horror films? Since his major success with Get Out (2017), this film had some big shoes to fill, and fill them it did. The film focuses on a family who are going on holiday to the seaside. It is clear from the get go, however, that the mother, Adelaide (Lupita Nyung'o), is not overly thrilled about the prospect due to a traumatic experience she suffered there as a child. We soon find out that her fears of this ordeal coming back to haunt her are not so far fetched. This is the kind of film that needs to be seen to be understood. Another home run for Peele.
7. As Above, So Below (2014)
For whatever reason, this film did not receive the best of critical reviews. As far as I am concerned, this is one of the more unique takes on horror. Archeologist Scarlett (Perdita Weeks) sets out to complete her dad's quest of finding the legendary Philosopher's Stone. In order to do this, however, she must go deep below the ground within the catacombs of Paris. Not an easy feat to begin with, which is only made more difficult the deeper she and her team goes. It seems the only wait out, is down.
6. The Descent (2005)
This is another one set below ground, but is arguably scarier than number 7 overall. We follow a group of female cave explorers as they embark on a new expedition. Without giving too much away, this new adventure proves to be more challenging than those previous, as the cave is home to some extremely terrifying creatures. While not necessarily the most original concept, the tense dynamics between the characters and the unexpected fast pace of the film and its plot development make this one wild ride. I went into it having heard it to be one of the scariest modern horrors, and it certainly lived up to its reputation.
5. Creep (2014)
Where to start with this cult classic. We have a horror film starring only two people, and said people also wrote and directed it. Usually, such low budget horror is not executed too well, but this film is one for the ages. Filmmaker Aaron (Patrick Brice) responds to an ad made by Josef (Mark Duplass), who wishes to have his entire day documented for his unborn son to see, as Josef has terminal cancer and does not expect to live to meet his child. As the day progresses, it is clear that there is something amiss. Be prepared to have a new favourite horror villain with this one.
4. It Chapter 2 (2019)
It Chapter 2 takes place 27 years after its predecessor, and the Losers Club's oath is put to work when Pennywise returns to Derry to take more children. While I thoroughly enjoyed Chapter 1, the all-star cast of Chapter 2 just takes the cake. We get to see our Losers as adults, struggling with the effects of the first film, and finding the strength to come together and fight their foe once more. Another beautifully executed film, which is sure to pull at your heart strings AND give you nightmares. Two for the price of one. How fun.
3. Ready or Not (2019)
This is a fun one. Definitely more of a comedy/horror, so if you're looking for a more lighthearted scare, then this one is for you. The film takes place on the wedding day of Grace (Samara Weaving) and Alex (Mark O'Brien). After the ceremony, Grace is informed that she must take part in the tradition of playing a game to welcome her into the family. Unfortunately for Grace, she chooses to play the one game that has a fine print - hide and seek. I'm sure fighting her way out of her husband's family home is not how she expected her wedding night to go. This film has it all; scares, humour, romance, and plenty of gore. It was the highlight of my cinema trips in 2019. Couldn't recommend it enough.
2. Train to Busan (2016)
Looking for the greatest zombie film ever made? Look no further. If you can get past having to read the subtitles, you've got yourself an absolute gem with this iconic South Korean horror. It's one thing to be stuck in a zombie-filled world, but it is another ballpark entirely when you're stuck on a train with them. That's the predicament Seokwoo (Gong Yoo) and his daughter find themselves in. This film will make you laugh, cry, and hide behind your pillow. I would never have expected to categorise a zombie film as beautiful, but I feel it is an appropriate descriptor for this amazing work of art.
1. The Conjuring 2 (2016)
No one ever seems to agree with me when I say that this film is scarier that the first of the series. I believe being British and knowing the Enfield Haunting well already might be the reason. The great thing about this film is that it goes against the usual tropes of the haunted house sub-genre. The Hodgson family have not newly moved into their home, they have in fact lived there for years already. After Mr. Hodgson leaves them, the family find themselves tormented by a number of demonic presences, and enlist the help of Ed and Lorraine Warren, who are not entirely convinced by the family's story. While this film always scares the shit out of me, I could easily watch it over and over again. Still can't watch it alone though.

Never paid much attention to Louis’ playlists until I started reading your blog (your music posts are brilliant btw) but his Tour Bus one? I mean the story it conveys... if you’re a Larrie and believe that H&L are expressing their truth in clever subliminal ways how can you look at the lyrics of those songs and not see his situation? I mean Dakota (about a PAST summer romance in June), I’m still standing, bittersweet symphony... He’s screaming “we need to move on” as he clearly has.
Louis has already said a lot in his previous music recommendations, both about his preferences in music, his taste, his background (musical and cultural), and his personal life. Amy Winehouse has tunes for days, but he picks Tears Dry On Their Own.
This is the Louis Tomlinson Tour Bus playlist:
Song 2 - Blur
Well I got my head done/ When I was young/ It’s not my problem
Never Miss a Beat - Kaiser Chiefs
What is the golden rule?/ You say nothing/ It's cool to know nothing
The Runner - Foals
Loneliness of the long distance runner/ Shadow, come closer, so I'll go on further
Twice - Catfish and the Bottlemen
Maybe I’ll grow tired of you bitchin’ all the time/ cause when you love me, the way you’re living/ it’s just hard to fret about much/ because if I got time, I’d just regret most shit
Life Is a Game of Changing - DMA’s
Life is a game of changing/ I was thinking all about our situation/ Here anymore, I can't steer anymore
Charmer - Kings of Leon
She's such a charmer oh no/ Oh no/ She stole my karma oh no
Reptilia - The Strokes
Our lives are changing lanes, you ran me off the road/ The wait is over, I'm now taking over/ You're no longer laughing, I'm not drowning fast enough
Dani California - Red Hot Chili Peppers
Who knew the other side of you?/ Who knew that others died to prove?/ Too true to say goodbye to you
Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nirvana
I’m worse at what I do best/ And for this gift I feel blessed/ Our little group has always been/ And always will until the end
Dakota - Stereophonics
You made me feel like the one
Heavyweight Champion of the World - Reverend and the Makers
I could've been a contender/ Could've been a someone/ Caught up in the rat race/ And feeling like a no-one/Appearing in the papers / With the money and the girls/ I could've been The Heavyweight Champion of the World
Flux - Bloc Party
We were hoping for some romance/ All we found was more despair/ We must talk about our problems/ We are in a state of flux
Looking At You - Only the Poets
He could flick a light switch in your heart/We were just a deep dive in the dark/ I don't know why it still tears me apart/ Oh looking at you looking at him
Supersonic- Oasis
I need to be myself/ I can't be no-one else/ I'm feeling supersonic, give me gin and tonic/ You can have it all, but how much do you want it?/ You make me laugh/ Give me your autograph
Teddy Picker - Arctic Monkeys
And it's the thousandth time that it's even bolder/ Don't be surprised when you get bent over/ They told you, but you were dying for it
Hard to Beat - Hard FI
Read all about it, have you heard the latest?/ Boy in a band dates a hollywood actress/ But baby, you and me, we came up from the street/ No time to hesitate, we've got to push our weight
What You Know - Two Door Cinema Club
And I can tell just what you want/ You don't want to be alone/ I wouldn't test you, I'm not the best you/ Could have obtained, why try anything?
Dog Days Are Over - Florence + The Machine
Happiness, it hurt like a bullet in the mind
Without You - Avicii (feat. Sandro Cavazza)
You said you’d follow me anywhere/ But your eyes tell me you won’t be there/ I’ve gotta learn how to love without you
Stoned in Love - Chicane, Tom Jones
If I could roll it back to you/ Just like lovers always do/ I'm stoned in love but not with you
I’m Still Standing - Elton John
And did you think this fool could never win?/ Well look at me, I'm a-coming back again/ I got a taste of love in a simple way/ And if you need to know while I'm still standing/ You just fade away
Don’t You Worry Child - Swedish House Mafia
Don’t you worry, don’t you worry child/ See, heaven’s got a plan for you
Lonely Boy - The Black Keys
So you pulled my heart out and I don't mind bleedin'/ Any old time you keep me waitin'
Fight On - The Lathums
A lovers quarrel/ Buried under rubble
We Have to Move On - Inhaler
It’s your last night/ We have to move on/ In the last light/ Oh, we stroll off
Can’t Stand Me Now - The Libertines
An ending fitting for the start/ You twist'n'tore our love apart
Not Nineteen Forever - Courteeners
You're not nineteen forever, pull yourselves together/ I know it seems strange but things, they change
I Am The Resurrection - The Stone Roses
Don't waste your words I don't need anything from you/ I don't care where you've been or what you plan to do
Whatever Gets You Thru The Night - John Lennon
Whatever gets you through the night/ It's all right, it's all right/ It's your money or your life/ It's all right, it's all right
Will We Talk? - Sam Fender
Sometimes I close my eyes/ And sometimes, I see you're fine
Black Betty - Ram Jam
What About Next Time? - Milburn
I really do not mean to pry but this just seems so silly/ How can the truth become a lie just so it means you're winning, oh
Bittersweet Symphony - The Verve
Well I never pray,/ But tonight I'm on my knees, yeah./ I need to hear some sounds that recognize the pain in me, yeah./ I let the melody shine, let it cleanse my mind, I feel free now.

A Year in Review: The 25 Best Films of 2019
This list may seem a few months late from the rest of the media, but I consider the movie season to stretch 14 months, from the start of the Sundance Film Festival in January through the end of the Oscars ceremony in February. This year's movie season was shortened as the 92nd Academy Awards were held about three weeks earlier than usual, commencing on Feb. 9. Of course, South Korean director Bong Jon-ho's "Parasite" took home the Best Picture prize making history as the Academy's first-ever non-English language film to take home the top award.
Now that the Oscars have officially wrapped up, and the 2020 movie season is revving up (to a weak start), I feel comfortable with sharing my favorite 25 films of 2019. From box office hits to smaller gems, below is a breakdown of the top films that debuted last year.
25. “The Beach Bum,” directed by Harmony Korine
24. “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood,” directed by Marielle Heller
23. “Toy Story 4,” directed Josh Cooley
22. “Alita: Battle Angel,” directed by Robert Rodriguez
21. “The Lighthouse,” directed by Robert Eggers
20. “A Long Day’s Journey into Night,” directed by Bi Gan
19. “Doctor Sleep,” directed by Mike Flanagan
18. “6 Underground,” directed by Michael Bay
17. “Uncut Gems,” directed by Josh Safdie and Benny Safdie
16. “The Nightingale,” directed by Jennifer Kent
15. “Hustlers,” directed by Lorene Scafaria
Lorene Scafaria's "Hustlers" might be the most fun film of 2019, composed of brilliant shots and serving as a spotlight to showcase Jennifer Lopez's talents. Mostly set during the 2008 recession, the film is a condemnation of late stage capitalism while following a group of strippers, played by Lopez as well as Constance Wu, Keke Palmer, Lili Reinhart and more, who drug wealthy men and steal from them — until their crimes catch up with them.
14. “The Farewell,” directed by Lulu Wang
An impressive debut feature from Lulu Wang, "The Farewell" is a special kind of family tale, featuring a breakout performance from comedian Awkwafina. Rooted from Wang's true story (which was first turned into an episode of "This American Life"), "The Farewell" is unlike any kind of family drama you've seen; a deeply personal, sad but ultimately uplifting film about the things we choose to tell (and not tell) those closest to us.
13. "Asako I & II," directed by Ryusuke Hamaguchi
Following up his six-hour film "Happy Hour," Japanese filmmaker Ryusuke Hamaguchi's "Asako I & II" clocks in at just two hours but still manages to pack in a number of the same themes. Here, a young woman named Asako (Erika Karata) briefly falls in love with a handsome boy named Baku (Masahiro Higashide) in her hometown in rural Japan before he suddenly vanishes. After moving to Tokyo a few years later, Asako spots Baku — but he tells her his name is Ryohei (also played by Higashide). From there, a relationship blooms and unravels. Similar to "Happy Hour," Hamaguchi's effortless ability to draw an emotional response from the ebbs and flows of deep, personal relationships (between friends, family, lovers) is unparalleled.
12. "Climax," directed by Gasper Noé
Gasper Noé is often hit-or-miss with most movie audiences. His films are always provocative and his latest feature "Climax" is no exception. Set in the 90s, a French dance troupe rehearses a routine ("Climax" opens with the single best scene of 2019) before celebrating for the night with some snacks and sangria — which someone has spiked with LSD. The rest of the film plays out like a perverse whodunnit while the group, led by Sofia Boutella, tries to figure out what's going on before losing their minds and allowing deep secrets ruin their lives.
11. "The Irishman," directed by Martin Scorsese
Martin Scorsese's long-awaited return to the gangster flick resulted in a three-and-a-half-hour epic. "The Irishman," which reunites Marty with Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci, also stars Al Pacino (the first time the actor appeared in a film by the acclaimed director), as Jimmy Hoffa. The film is Scorsese's most meditative work outside his films about religion. There is as much subtext to the film as there is text, making "The Irishman" a dazzling feat of filmmaking and storytelling, featuring outstanding performances from its three leads.
10. "Gloria Bell," directed by Sebastián Lelio
Since his 2017 breakout film "A Fantastic Woman," Sebastián Lelio's career has been quite quiet. Nevertheless, the English-language remake of his own Chilean-Spanish film "Gloria," re-titled "Gloria Bell," is a stunning piece of filmmaking. Starring Julianne Moore as the titular character, the film follows the middle age single woman through the ups and downs of her dating and family life. It's an unassumingly beautiful film that is gorgeous and features one of Moore's best performances to date.
09. "Her Smell," directed by Alex Ross Perry
Alex Ross Perry's career has dramatically shifted since working with Elisabeth Moss on the 2015 thriller "Queen of Earth." Instead of making quirky New York City centric love stories (a la Noah Baumbach and Woody Allen before him), Perry once again teams up with Moss for "Her Smell." Structured like a five-act play, the film follows Becky Something (Moss), the leader of an all-girl punk group. In what is Moss's best performance to date, Becky is an addict and downright evil at times as she manipulates those around her. It's a dizzying feat of filmmaking that puts Moss to the test.
08. "Ad Astra," directed by James Gray
Brad Pitt won the Oscar for his performance in "Once Upon a Time... In Hollywood," but "Ad Astra" was his best performance in 2019. Following up his 2016 masterpiece "The Lost City of Z," director James Gray continues on his path of making ambitious epics, moving from the Amazon to the depths of our solar system. Here Pitt's Roy McBride is on a mission to find his father (Tommy Lee Jones), who is literally lost in space. Roy has to confront his issues with his father as he battles moon pirates, rabid baboons and his inner demons. "Ad Astra" is not only an impressive film for Grey, but Pitt's turn as the sad spaceman is nuanced and shows how much range the Hollywood icon actually has.
07. "Honeyland," directed by Ljubomir Stefanov and Tamara Kotevska
"Honeyland" made Oscars history when it became the first film to be nominated in both Best International Feature Film and Best Documentary Feature — and for good reason. Clocking in at just 85 minutes, Ljubomir Stefanov and Tamara Kotevska's stunningly beautiful film follows Hatidže Muratova, a beekeeper living in a remote village in North Macedonia. But "Honeyland" is so much more than that; it's a universal story about our delicate ecosystem, fickle Mother Nature, taking care of our family and having bad neighbors. In what may seem like a specific tale turns out to be incredibly relatable, with Stefanov and Kotevska achieving some of the best nonfiction filmmaking in years.
06. "Once Upon a Time... In Hollywood," directed by Quentin Tarantino
Quentin Tarantino's penultimate film "Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood" is a love letter to Tinseltown. Here, he honors the summer of 1969 as the film industry is thriving with newcomers like Sharon Tate (Margot Robbie) and aging stars like Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio in his best performance ever). Rick is a TV villain and his stunt double Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt) is along for the ride. "OUATIH" is more of a hangout movie than something one would expect from QT; it's more in line with the sophistication of "Jackie Brown" than the over-the-top cartoon violence found in "Django Unchained." Like Martin Scorsese's "The Irishman," "OUATIH" is a contemplative and meditative look at aging, youth culture and America through the prism that is Tarantino.
05. "Midsommar," directed by Ari Aster
Following up his horror masterpiece "Hereditary" just one year later, Ari Aster returned with the daylight gonzo vacation nightmare "Midsommar." Like with "Hereditary" and its star Toni Collette, Ari gets a stunning performance out of rising star Florence Pugh, who plays Dani. She just suffered a major tragedy and is decides to go on a trip to a remote village in Sweden with her aloof boyfriend (Jack Reynor) and his college pals. The trip, of course, is worse than anyone could have imagined and plays out in complete sunlight, making Aster's daytime nightmare incredibly upsetting and one of the most vibrant horror films ever made.
04. "Pain and Glory," directed by Pedro Almodóvar
Spanish auteur Pedro Almodóvar returned last year with "Pain and Glory," unlike any movie he's made in his nearly 40-year career. It's a deeply personal film and one of his most quiet and contemplative. It also reunites the filmmaker with Antonio Banderas — in his best role ever — who starred in Almodóvar's earlier films and his 2011 horror film "The Skin I Live in." Despite it being far removed from Almodóvar's oeuvre, it still fits in snugly with his work, resulting in a beautiful and self-reflexive film about age, lost love and the past.
03. "Little Women," directed by Greta Gerwig
On paper, remaking "Little Women" in 2019 might have seemed like a fool's errand. But Greta Gerwig's take on the classic story, and her follow up to her breakthrough film "Lady Bird," gave a new purpose to Louisa May Alcott's centuries old story about the March sisters living in Concord, Mass. During the Civil War. Here, Gerwig assembles the hottest cast of 2019 (Saoirse Ronan, Timothée Chalamet, Florence Pugh, Emma Watson, Laura Dern, Eliza Scanlen, Bob Odenkirk, Louis Garrel, Chris Cooper and Meryl Streep), enlists Alexander Displat for the score and Yorick Le Saux to carry out luscious cinematography. But it's Gerwig's breakdown of the story and her daring changes to the novel that make her rendition of "Little Women" vital and beautiful. She manages to retain the Alcott's tone and vibrance while bringing something wholly original to a story we've seen time and time again, proving Gerwig is a master storyteller.
02. "Parasite," directed by Bong Joon-ho
Bong Joon-ho's "Parasite" took the world by storm. A true tour de force, the South Korean film started hot out of the gate, winning the Palme d'Or award at the Cannes Film Festival, blazing its way to win Best Picture at the Oscars earlier this month. And rightfully so — "Parasite" is a relatable tale about class struggle unlike any other film in its genre. Joon-ho, who has other masterpieces under his belt ("Mother," "Memories of Murder"), is in total control of his film; a true craftsman and storyteller, who knows how to build tension, introduce bits of comedy and create compelling characters. The film is complex yet fully understandable; a truly accomplished piece of filmmaking that will become a gateway for world cinema.
01. "Marriage Story," directed by Noah Baumbach
Noah Baumbach's "Marriage Story" is his most sophisticated and considered film to date. Following a couple (Adam Driver and Scarlett Johansson) going through a divorce, Baumbach crafts a personal story with a raw script that is executed by astonishing performances from its two leads and its wonderful supporting cast (Laura Dern, Alan Alda, Ray Liotta, Merritt Wever). For so many films about finding love, there are few that are directly about the end of a relationship or divorce and Baumbach's intimate tale is a dazzling feat of not only writing, but acting and understanding of how all the moving pieces of a movie can coalesce into a breathtaking piece of art.

once florence had slipped into her heels, it felt a little like slipping into the persona she put on for parties. the easy, fun party girl, the one who drank and danced all night and didn't spend the whole time ignoring her boyfriend. she could be the girl brent needed her to be so his little friends wouldn't tease him and she could maintain her status. it worked, even if it didn't necessarily feel good and she could always lick her wounds when she was back with dani anyway. she chuckled, taking her roommate's hand as they left, knowing they weren't really that late anyhow. as they made their way to the elevator, dani's question had her quirking an eyebrow curiously. "you're already worried about what comes after grad? i don't think the parties end the second we have degrees, dani." she laughed softly, nudging her as she pressed the button for the bottom floor where the uber she'd ordered in advance would be waiting. "if anything i'll probably end up in an office full of drug addicts who'll drag me into their play hard, work hard ways. i'll be even worse." flo joked, leading the way out to the waiting car as the elevator doors opened.
"alright… i'm coming back here." dani said, leaving the invitation open for her if she changed her mind. she hated putting her in the middle and making her pick, especially when dani would get jealous when she picked her boyfriend over her. she had nothing to get jealous about, they were having fun, they had been having fun for all this time but even then she couldn't help but to think what would happen if they tested the waters. "i'm moving. i had to get my makeup done." she teased as she playfully posed for her. as she slipped on her shoes as well and pulled her hair back, she made sure everything was turned off in their apartment before holding her hand out for florence to take. "so we show up a little late, gives them enough time to drink all the shitty stuff." she teased. it was starting to be the beginning of a list of lasts. eventually, they'd be graduated and dani had no idea what she would do without flo in her life. things seemed so put together and more importantly just naturally to them. what would happen when they weren't together? "you gonna miss going to parties with me?" she teased as she gave her a smile. "i don't think going to some work happy hour will be the same vibe." dani teased again as she shrugged her shoulders.

the mention of her boyfriend was bound to dampen the mood and florence knew it, but she also knew maybe in this case it was necessary. she couldn't afford to get carried away, lest she spend the whole party having an argument with brent like she did a couple of weeks prior. it was better to keep him happy than to have to work so damn hard to reassure him. nevermind the fact that flo had been technically cheating on him since forever, but things with dani... they didn't really count as cheating. what they had was different to what she had with brent. or at least that was what she told herself. scoffing, she shot dani a hopeful grin. "that's the spirit. so empathetic, my best friend." she teased, sighing as she raked her fingers through her hair, attention shifting as dani asked if she was going back with him. "uh..." she shrugged, non-committal about it as she always was when it came to picking between them. "depends how shitfaced he gets this time. we'll see." pulling herself off of dani, she held a hand out to her once her feet were planted on the floor of their place. "come on, let's stop fucking around and get out of here. i'm dying to dance." to demonstrate, she moved her hips as she went to find her heels.
dani could feel her smile turn into a smirk at floerence's words but she kept her sly comments to herself, especially since their lips were so close to one another. just one more small push and the space between them would be closed but to her surprise she pulled away, leaving dani to lay back against the pillows. the grip on her hand loosened as she tried to play off the disappointment and forced another small smile. "can you blame me?" she muttered with another chuckle. at the mention of brent she had to refrain from rolling her eyes. with him in the picture, he seemed to be taking more of flo's time away from her. she didn't want to be as clingy as he was, but the two of them had such a great thing going with one another. plus it being their senior year, dani was hoping that she'd muster up the courage to finally tell flo how she felt, and she couldn't do that with brent in the picture. "oh no, can't leave him by himself." she said with a chuckle and a shake of his head. she had to keep her comments to herself even though it was much easier said than done. "... are you going back with him?" it was their first party of senior year, she hoped she'd come back with her but if now dani would have to occupy herself.

"yeah, i bet you are." florence teased, refusing to let up as she pushed her hands down harder into the bed, eyes narrowing like the movement was a threat. it wasn't and they both knew it, but she didn't lean in any closer, waiting it out as dani kept talking. "why wouldn't i want everyone to see my handiwork? you already know i'm a show off. should've written 'flo did this' in eyeliner on your forehead." she grinned, hearing the double meaning as she said it aloud. dani's mouth was so close to hers now and she could feel heat in her gut, a stirring she would find it very hard to ignore. she exhaled slowly, almost brushing her lips against dani's but resisting at the last second as she pulled back a little bit. the offer was tempting and as the other girl cupped her face, florence was helpless to do anything but lean into it, smiling softly before she rolled her eyes. "you just can't help yourself, can ya?" she teased. letting go of dani's other hand, she sat up, her hair thrown to one side. "i told brent we'd meet him, though and i don't want him to get all whiny and clingy about it if i'm late. i made him buy the expensive vodka i like."
even all these years later florence was still able to give her goosebumps. the closer she got and when their fingers intertwined was enough for dani to say forget the party and for them to stay right there. a chuckle slipped her lips at her words as she noticed how close their faces were to one another's. "you sure you still want to go? i'm getting pretty comfortable right here." she said with a chuckle she gave both of her and a squeeze. it was just the beginning of the year, they would have other parties so maybe she could convince her to stay in at least a little while longer. "plus i think you should be the only one who admires this amazing work you did." she teased as she felt herself lean a little bit closer so their lips were inches away from each other's. "... want to at least go late?" she'd take that at least, as long as they could have a bit of alone time with one another, especially before she hung out with her new friend, that would send her over the moon. "we'll just miss some pregaming, c'mon you did say i'm your favorite person." she said with a grin as she wiggled one of her hands free so she could cup her face.

florence beamed triumphantly at her words, though she already kind of believed she could do it whenever she wanted to. a little pouting and puppy dog eyes would get her what she wanted with dani nine times out of ten. and the other time she'd just drop to her knees or take her clothes off instead. pressing her lips into a firm line, she tried to hide her distaste at the idea of a new dani. the laughter that followed quickly broke it as she smiled, using her thumbs to make sure the eyeshadow was evenly applied on either side. "you're ridiculous." she replied, rolling her eyes. although she had intentions to see the guy she'd been spending time with, at the end of the day she wanted to be at parties with dani more than anyone else. "right, well, i hope you're hungry, because you so will be." florence leaned down, pecking her nose before she put aside her makeup. then she was reaching for her hands, interlinking their fingers to push her hands back onto the bed. "what's a party without my favourite person?"
"guess i should be saying yes to things more often. you can do my makeup whenever you'd like." dani teased back as she chuckled to herself. when florence got closer to do her makeup, she could feel her heartbeat speed up once again. it wasn't like they hadn't been this close before, but there was just something with how gentle she was being with her that made it beat that fast. a small sigh slipped her lips as she shrugged her shoulders slightly, trying her best to keep her head still. "what if it's a new year new me kind of deal?" she tried to say with a straight face but ended up laughing. truth be told, the last person she wanted to see what that guy florence had been talking to. to her, it seemed like things were getting a bit serious and she could feel this sense of jealousy. she knew she didn't have the right to be jealous but she just couldn't help herself. she did as she was told and looked up as she applied more makeup to her face. "we'll see how everything is. maybe i'll eat my words if it's fun."

an eyeroll was given in response to dani's flirting, a smile forming in spite of her mild annoyance. "this is a reward for saying yes even without knowing i was gonna get on top of you." florence replied, cupping her cheek as she leaned in, brush freshly dusted with the purple glittery eyeshadow. she began to brush it on slowly, but then changed her mind and put the brush aside in favour of using her index finger, smoothing it gently over her eyelid as she spoke. florence was surprised to hear she might not stay out as late and frankly a little offended. "wait, why not? like, what's the determining factor here?" she asked, doing the other eyelid. "open them." she instructed, inspecting her handiwork and finding she was pleased, but she just needed a little underneath. "look up." she said as she listened to dani, sweeping the eyeshadow lightly underneath her lashes too.
seeing florence so happy and seeing that smile on her face was worth all the glitter that she was about to put all over her eyes. she would have never thought she would have been that wrapped around someone's finger but the more time they spent together, the harder dani was falling. "alright, alright." the brunette grumbled as she went to go lay down on her bed. she could feel her heart beat a bit faster as she felt her straddle her waist so she could get a better angle for her makeup. "if you would have told me this is how you have to put this on i would have said yes a long while ago." she teased as she closed her eyes as instructed. dani always thought that there was something between the two of them, but she was far to scared to act on it. ruining a friendship and everything they were doing behind closed doors just to tell her how she felt seemed like a death sentence. "i might not stay super late tonight." she said with a little shrug as she tried her best not to peak. "i'll just have to feel everything out."
