This Jordan chiles situation is so frustrating, especially knowing that the olympics have handled situations like this so much better before.

In the Salt Lake City 2002 Winter Olympics doubles figure skating, one of the judges was found to have been bribed to place the Russian skaters; Elena Berezhnaya and Anton Sikharulidze, higher. They ended up winning gold unaware their results were fixed. After it was revealed, they shared their gold with the original silver medalists from Canada; Jamie Salé and David Pelletier, and had another medal ceremony so they each got to receive their own gold medal and stand on the podium. This makes sense since none of the skaters were at fault, it was the judge, they all skated at their best, they didn't deserve punishment.

I know these sports aren't the same and I'm not an expert on either but in both situations you have athletes scores being messed up by incompetent judging, the athletes shouldn't be the ones being punished here! IOC doesn't normally take medals away unless the athlete is guilty of cheating in some way which no athlete did here.

What happened in 2002 wasn't perfect (the bronze medalist refused to participate in the 2nd medal ceremony, pretty understandable tbf) but it was much better than what happened here, it should've set a standard because none of the gymnasts deserve this.

so, from what i gather, there are now three possible different answers for who won bronze in this fucking final: if you go by the results as they were for the medal ceremony, jordan won. if you go by the scores originally given and the rules as they should have been followed, ana won. but if you go by what actually happened (ie, sabrina did not actually go out of bounds), sabrina won. MESS

For anyone unfamiliar: TWICE is a K-pop girl group, composed of nine members (Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyeong, and Tzuyu). This particular song is 트와이스 송 (TWICE Song)

OBJ -> Nayeon (she's the oldest member, nayeon's also one of the more well-known members and has a wonderful solo career!)

Joe Burrow -> Jeongyeon (known for her short hair look, has battled mental health issues, i remember that she also had to get a surgery for a spinal disc herniation, kpop is brutal yall)

Ja'Marr Chase -> Momo (japanese, one of the BEST dancers in kpop imo, i love her sm)

Justin Jefferson -> Sana (also japanese, VERY charming and sweet, you may have seen her on an ad somewhere)

Malik Nabers -> Dahyun (her nickname is tofu it's so adorable, one of the rappers of the group)

Jayden Daniels -> Jihyo (leader of the group, her nickname is god jihyo which should tell you everything about this girl)

i don't get the small folk viewing the death of the dragon that killed so many of them for no reason as "an ill omen"

because it’s a dragon. it’s a god! it’s a living walking breathing god to a bunch of people whose gods are incredibly silent!! maegor didn’t parade quicksilver’s body around did he!!!! a dragon was killed in combat for the first time since MAEGOR’S RULE and then they chopped its head off and paraded it through town!!!! there’s a level of decorum i think everyone expects high born people to be treated with - for example criston specirically taking lord darklyn’s head off - and they didn’t even show that to a living god!! of course they think it’s an ill omen!! it also like, isn’t meleys’ fault that they came up through the floor, that was rhaenys’ decision, and you don’t blame the horse for what the soldier does do you? vhagar went from being laena’s to being aemond’s, these dragons don’t have allegiances, they have riders. and criston & aemond throw all that propoganda about them being gods OUT THE WINDOW in an instant!! and the smallfolk immediately pick up on that vibe - this war is spiraling to a point where people are willing to throw away whatever decorum, whatever Super Special Valyrian Godliness they have to brag about a fight that barely counts as a win and go “oh if they’re gonna treat EACH OTHER like that what the fuck are they gonna do to ME?” and try to make a run for it but the gates are already barred, they are already being locked in like cattle to a slaughter. and that realization starts with seeing meleys’ rotting head and realizing they are treating dragons the same way they treat the smallfolk, which means the way they treat the smallfolk is about to get MUCH WORSE.

I can't believe the judges accepted the inquiry for Jordan's Gogean. It's literally a quarter short with her still turning on the ground. Literally no d panel ever from 2017-now would accept this except for this one. I feel really bad for Ana. I thought the judges were cracking down on form and dance elements in finals hence Ana beating out Sabrina and Jordan but then Sabrina's inquiry got rejected while Jordan's was accepted.

Instead of returning her medal, Jordan Chiles should tell the Olympics that she gave it to Elmo and have them fight muppets for the medal back. Also people on social media should say who has it and make whoever is asking for the medal to be returned look bad for fighting puppets and Jordan. Just my thoughts.

yeah, when people started talking about the inquiry being late, i kind of rolled my eyes, thinking they were (understandably) just throwing whatever at the wall to see what stuck. but apparently not. i do hope the FIG lets jordan keep her medal, because it would be precedent-breaking to strip her, but i'm happy for Ana.
