Niko Tackian - Triangle noir

‘Can you wait for me?’ Flic asked as Jonas fiddled nervously with his tie. He was eager to go; the sooner they left the sooner he thought he’d be able to leave again. Realistically, he knew that wasn’t how it worked, but it was a nice enough pipedream.
'You think I was gonna go alone?’ Jonas asked, barely able to keep the disbelief from his voice.
From behind the bathroom door, Flic laughed. 'Just saying,’ she teased. 'You might want to go meet someone else. Getting bored of all this.’
Jonas stood stock still until she opened the door. His disagreement got caught in his throat at the sight of her. She had her hair up in some intricate looking plait. While her makeup was usually subtle, now she had coloured eyeshadow on and dark lipstick. The dress she wore wasn’t form fitting, but somehow that was better.
With effort, Jonas swallowed; he tried to ignore the butterflies that had come alive in his stomach. 'I love you,’ he said.
Flic stepped closer to him, shorter than normal with no heels, and stood on tiptoes to place a quick kiss on his cheek. 'Love you too,’ she said, before slipping away to finish getting ready; leaving Jonas to try figuring out why he felt as though he were falling in love with her all over again.

Chainsaw man is ridiculous because you’ll recommend it to people like “yeah it’s one of the best stories of all time, I can literally feel it in my fucking guts, it’s such a good commentary on the nature of humanity as a whole, it will change you as a person” but like,,, it’s called fucking chainsaw man. who let that happen.
#chainsaw man sounds like a bad slasher flic from the 80s#but tbh I think that’s part of the charm and I wouldn’t want it called anything else#it’s just funny because I feel like when I tell ppl to watch ‘chainsaw man’ they get a bit confused when I’m like#‘yeah actually it’s sooooooo deep’ lmao#chainsaw man#kaz rambles

Jonas tentatively pressed the healing wound on his bicep. It still stung slightly, the scar tissue tender, but at least it wasn’t splitting anymore. It itched like hell though, and he wasn’t sure how he was going to cope with that.
‘Will you stop?’ said Flic, drawing his attention to her reflection. She was standing behind him, sleep still clung to the corners of her eyes.
She must have seen something in Jonas’s expression that he’d tried to conceal. Her brows furrowed and she stepped closer, rested a careful hand over his scar. Any of her previous sleepiness was gone in an instant.
‘We’ll get out of this one day,’ she said, before placing a soft kiss on his lips, hand still resting almost protectively on his arm.
‘Thanks,’ he said once he’d finally pulled away, though deep down he knew that technically she’d never been in it. She’d always been on the periphery, and for once a small part of him disliked her attempts at being there for him with it all. For acting as though it was something they had to face together when she could close the door and draw a line underneath it. And he simply couldn’t.
