The phone on the kitchen countertop made you jump as it sang a repeating melody. You got up hesitantly, averting your eyes from the slasher flic playing to look at the ringing house phone.

You got up and answered it, putting it under your hair and speaking into it. “L/n residents.”

“Hello?” A deep raspy voice replied.

“Hi?” You raised a brow in confusion.

“Who is this?” The voice asked.

“I think I should be the one asking you that.” You smirked. “Who are you trying to reach?” You walked back over to the couch and sat down on it, continuing to watch your movie.

“What number is this?” The deep voice sounded mockingly curious.

“What number are you trying to reach?” You asked, cocking a brow.

“I don’t know.” The male responded.

“Hmm. There’s not much I can do for you then.” You smirked.

“Have a good day.” You we’re about to hang up, when the voice spoke up once more.

“Wait! What’s your name?” He asked.

“If you tell me yours I’ll tell you mine.” You smirked teasingly.

“Oh come on, I just wanna know who I’m looking at.” The voice said eerily, and suddenly the atmosphere was a lot more ominous than before.

You raised a brow. “So you’re looking at me?” You asked, assuming it was just a sick joke.

“What?” The voice asked, sounding surprised.

This made you smirk. “What do you think? Am I pretty?” You asked jokingly.

“I dunno, why don’t I come out to get a closer look?” They asked.

“Do it, then.” You smiled.

Suddenly, the closet to the left of you bursted open, revealing a man in a black cloak and a mask with a permanent scream.

Your eyes widened, as your head screamed at you to run but you couldn’t. Your feet were planted as you both started at eachother.

Something shiny flashed in his right hand, and you looked down, seeing a good sized hunting knife. He launched at you, forcing you to quickly move out of the way and make a run for it.

You headed for the back door that was stupidly wide-open. You felt the masked man grab you by your hoodie, and pull you back violently. You slammed to the floor as he ran to get on top of you. Your head throbbed as a streak of blood fell from your forehead and nose. You turned around and lied on your back as he got on you, each leg on either side of your waist.

You weren’t scared, and you didn’t look scared.

This confused the masked man.

You too stared at eachother as he was on top of you. You gently raised your hand to lift up his mask.

He grabbed your wrist softly, before bringing his other hand up to lift his mask up slightly. His mask was lifted up only enough to reveal his mouth.

He leaned down and pressed a soft kiss to your mouth, and you melted into his touch. You leaned into him, attempting to make the kiss last longer, but he pulled his mask back down and stood up. He nodded at you, before turning and disappearing into the darkness of your back-yard. You touched your lips and smiled to yourself.

Do the ROs like scary movies? What’s their favorite? And what are they like when they watch them do they advise/yell at characters, hide under a blanket, just use them as an excuse to get really close, etc.?

Jannie 🚩 Jannie adoooores horror movies. The gorier the better. But she can't handle thriller type movies that are more psychological then anything. If a movie isn't blood and viscera from start to finish she is just not interested. She is the kind of person who laughs every time the villain kills someone and actively cheers for them to win. Watching a horror movie with her is an experience as she is an edge of her seat, bouncing up and down, giggling manically type that will leave very little time to cuddle.

Kory Horror? NOPE! Hell no! Keep her away from it!! If she does agree to sit down to watch one, and that is a HUGE if expect her to cling to the MC tightly and not let go the entire time. Best bet for her is to have a blanket she can hide under while you protect her from whatever is happening on screen and be prepared to be deaf by the end.

Devon Devon enjoys a good horror movie marathon, but ask her to watch anything past 2000 and you will have a fight on your hands. For the most part she hates modern horror though she does occasionally find one that she can enjoy. Her favorites are Hellraiser 1, 2, and 3 as well as the 2022 remake, Halloween 1 and 2, and Nightmare on Elm Street. She also has a thing for Japanese horror and she believes it is far superior to the majority of western horror. She is the kind of person who ridicules the victims in movies for doing stupid things like splitting up, not paying attention to their surroundings, and having sex when a slasher is on the loose.

Laura 🚩 Like Jannie, Laura simply adores horror movies. However she is the opposite of her in almost every way. While she enjoys a good gore fest as much as the next horror lover she really loves mind benders, thrillers, movies where things are not as they seem. She also enjoys a good possession flic, Jennifer's Body is her absolute favorite in that genre. She enjoys a good snuggle while watching movies but you're in for a hell of a tongue lashing if you talk during the movie.

i want a protagonist who is convinced until the last possible moment that they're in a lighthearted romcom--despite the proliferation of slasher murders. give me a soccer dad who is just so determined to enjoy family vacation, despite the fact the kids summoned an eldritch deity from the lake. a preteen who is experiencing a coming-of-age saga and annoyed their parents aren't emotionally present (the parents are distracted by a literal zombie apocalypse). endless possibilities

^hmmm we'd go during the night because spooky >:3c erm i would definitely get lost because i'm somewhat of a fool /affectionate - noodle definitely knows what she's doing, but even the smart ones get lost sometimes </3 some mishaps may occur and we'd probably solve it within an hour :3c

^michael would protest dressing up for halloween because he wouldn't want to seem 'childish' (especially if he knows he's going to be running into people he associates with), but deep down i think he loves it and would give in pretty quick :3c he'd most likely just try and match whatever i'm doing (i would be ... a vampire of some kind !! a very cute one !! ;3c) - deciding on costumes wouldn't be too hard with that in mind :3c

^noelle, to me, seems like the type you wouldn't expect to be into horror films but she actually really enjoys them - we'd probably watch a few classics like psycho or something slightly more "recent" like friday the 13th, but i'd be tearing that movie a new one the entire time (i do not like friday the 13th ... it is a cheesy slasher and it is Boring) - other than your usual horror flics, i think we would watch something a little more silly like the nightmare before christmas or goosebumps :3c

... does anyone know of a cheerful take on the Punisher that isn't some kind of Saccharine Bowl nightmare fuel with a pastel wrapper? I don't really want one, but now that it's been proposed I'm a bit curious what that would look like. How the shit do you do a sunny reimagining of a character whose primary defining trait is 'went homicidally bonkers because his family was murdered in front of him'? (I only have a very vague idea of the specifics of Old Boy, but I suspect that the end result of a sunnyboot would look a bit like Way of the House Husband.)

I was going to be paying attention to my job, but now part of me is going to be musing about how to do The Raid as a sunnyboot buddy cop movie. See also: cozybooted slasher flics. Snuggle up in front of the fireplace with a mug of cocoa, a flannel blanket and Leslie Vernon (or Jason Voorhees or The Shape, etc.) to watch the snow fall on Christmas Morning or something.

I love when people spoiler tag the lone survivor of a slasher flic like everybody doesn't know it's the one with a backstory and a second personality trait, both introduced in the first scene (or the scene directly after the cold open,) that the audience spends most of their time with.

Halloween Ends is a good movie

It's a great Romance/Psychological Thriller/Action movie (for Allyson, Corey, and Laurie respectively).

Is it a great Slasher movie? As someone who is just getting into Horror movies, I don't have the Ethos to say. But I can say that I was more Invested than Scared (maybe it helps that I saw it with friends?).

I rewatched Halloween Kills the day before going to see Ends, and I think it helps to view The Shape (Michael Myers) like Laurie says at the end of Kills: he's not a person; he's a force of nature, he's Fear Incarnate. Rewatching Kills also definitely got me believing that the Mask gives you superpowers, so that's where I'm coming from.

Yeah, proshipping doesn't encourage any kind of shipping dynamic, nor does it demonize any. It reminds people that shipping is a morally neutral act, which i find very helpful as a person with OCD. Even "gross" ships are valid, as long as they are properly tagged so that those who are triggered by them or otherwise negatively affected aren't exposed to them.

Nobody is trying to convince or encourage others to like ships with unhealthy dynamics (which is another wild thing I noticed screenshot OP claiming.) Proshippers just want people to respect everyone who ships in general, and that just happens to include those who have ships with unhealthy dynamics.

I'm really thankful that this community exists because the internet is going through a crisis right now with people thinking that ships reflect one's IRL views, which has been very triggering for my morality-based OCD. It's like... everybody knows that someone who watches a slasher flic isn't looking to murder someone in real life. It's sad (and frankly triggering on an OCD level) that some people can understand that, but then don't get that that can also apply to ships.

I haven't lost all hope, though. I've seen that people can change. I just hope screenshot OP reflects on all this rampant misinformation they've just spread to all their followers about OCD, because what the fuck...

Someone made a post about how proshippers are urging people with OCD to "act on their urges" and holy fucking shit? As someone with OCD, this sort of assertion makes me physically sick. And they said this to someone who knows literally nothing about proshipping as like,,, an informative thing. The fact that they're just spreading blatant lies about this sort of thing is really disgusting.

As an OCD haver, you disgust me, OP. Your post is disingenuous and evil. Proshippers claim to be a safe place for people with OCD because it is. Nobody is trying to tell people to act on their intrusive thoughts, wtf. That very idea is so gross.
