Me who's allergic to poison ivy(and not in the typical itchy for a week and needs calamine lotion way, in the has symptoms for like two months, gets covered head to toe in welts and blisters and has to take prescription allergy medication twice a day way), mosquitoes, pollen(as in it feels like there are jewelry beads beneath my skin and I lose all ability to breathe through my nose and I feel unsolvably exhausted to the point that getting up to use the toilet is a struggle), and fleas: Yeah, sure it will.

Finding out that "cat scratch fever" is a real thing and not just a metaphor in a song while googling why I've got muscle/joint pain radiating from my shoulder to my fingers after getting scratched and bit a lot by my new kitten and then realizing that my lymph node is swollen

me and my partner are thinking about rehoming one of our dogs because we don't have the money or energy to take care of such a big dog with medical and health issues, esp not since we're about to be living out of our van once we get everything settled and figured out. I'm a little bit sad about it but its not fair to him that we can't afford to take care of him or take him to the vet and its not fair to him that we don't have the kind of energy to meet his enrichment needs either

nothing like spending over $200 at the vet so they can tell you both your dog and cat have fleas AND both of them are allergic to fleas

my older long haired cat piper has seasonal allergies and i think it makes her skin itchy, but only on her neck/chin? her mane (as my family calls it lmao) is so patchy rn and she pulls out at least 2-3 knots of fur per day. i’m constantly combing her so she doesn’t eat too many of those knots and have a hairball. idk why i’m writing this i’m just sad for her :( and no, we cannot take her to the vet because (despite being a purebred ragdoll) she reverts to a feral animal when handled. our local vet will no longer see her if she’s not fully sedated… so if it’s not life threatening, we can’t take her. might have to look into some over the counter stuff idk

Vet visit is already done. She was very scared, but she got through it! And she got vaccinated for feline leukemia, which... is a relief

sorry to insert myself but for the cat anon it sounds like your cat may be having severe allergies or some sort of bite (a mite, flea, etc) a single bite can set off an allergic flare and when cats skin is touched it will respond that way if it’s extremely itchy. may need to stay indoors or start on a new flea med or switch maybe to a hydrolyzed protein diet (under a vets care obvs) but just wanted to help.
