I'm thinking about the absurdity of everything that happened to the Mighty Nein when they finally make it to Rosohna.

Like, imagine being the Essek for that.

Here's a group of adventurers. They have a surprising number of humans in their midst. That's a little suspicious considering the war with the Empire. After a few questions, they appear to be the world's most obvious and transparent spies. Like... Come on, they don't even really seem to know the region.

Well, whatever, guess they're gonna be treated appropriately-

Oh, that's a beacon. In a moment of stress, they proceed to pull out the most valuable relic of your people, which was stolen, or lost, and just... hand it back over to you.

You (as Essek), know about 95% of how they got their hands on it, because you've been keeping tabs on it because you're the one who handed it over in the first place. And here it is. In the throne room. They have no idea what it is, but they know the Bright Queen wants it, and they seem to earnestly want to make friends, and really would just like one of their members to get her husband back.

And the whole thing gets even stupider because you (that is to say Essek), decide that your best chance of keeping everything secure is to be the one who keeps an eye on them, and these dumbasses categorically refuse to stop trying to befriend you. You are specifically, actively trying to stop them from getting you caught and executed for treason, and they're like 'hey, you want to come over for dinner or something? We have a hot tub.'

So I just finished rewatching Hocus Pocus (bc I'm planning on reading Hocus Pocus and the All-New Sequel and wanted to refresh my memory) and honestly, this movie works really well in the Charmed verse?

The strongest point is that the Sanderson sisters are totally evil witches. They betray the Wiccan Rede but don't steal powers, so they remain witches rather than warlocks. They each have a dominant magical power like most witches in the series do. (Winifred has electrokinesis, obviously. Mary has an enhanced sense of smell, which. proof that they're not warlocks bc what power is that to steal? I initially thought that Sarah's was suggestion, but it's actually enhanced allure or luring like the Siren and Darla the succubus.)

Their book, which would technically be a grimoire, has similar magical protections and abilities like the Halliwells' Book of Shadows. Whenever the sisters mention their mother, it's implied that she was also a witch who passed her magic and knowledge on. (You could even theorize that she was a good witch which is why the sisters keep calling their book Book bc of habit from when it was a Book of Shadows.)

Instead of being responsible for their powers or something, they could've made a deal to serve someone who went by the Devil moniker or the master for more power/immortality, especially since Winnie seems to be able to use necromancy like a demonic alchemist.

Additionally, Thackery, while not technically a familiar, may have been acting as one anyways because of his curse. If he interacted with other familiars (such as Kit/Katrina), that might help explain how he learned more about magic in the meantime.

I also have always loved the idea that Allison is actually a witch. There's the way that she's called a "good little white witch" at point in the film, which is admittedly loose evidence but great inspiration. Her mother apparently worked at the Sanderson sisters museum, but it's also been closed down for seemingly quite a while with the amount of dust and cobwebs, so why would she be so familiar with it? It could be a situation similar to Paige's storytime where her mother tells her about it to prepare her in case. Allison's family could be witches guarding the book and candle to keep it from falling into evil witches' hands.

Allison may have not been told that she was a witch bc of the possibility of it skipping generations in her family, but she was still taught that would be relevant. If she did develop a power, I'm actually partial to intuition because a) she sensed something was wrong before they knew that the witches were back which is why they grabbed the salt in the first place and b) she seemed to know that Max was going to do something reckless to his life before he did anything. (None of this is strong evidence lmao, but it's fun.)

Dani would totally become a witch practioner after finding out about it. I don't think Max would, but I think he'd learn a lot about it to prepare in case anything else happened and bc Dani and Allison are into it.

But I definitely think that the film could've happened in the Charmed universe!!

I am being suckered into them. I know that this won't go well and at some point I'm gonna lose my mind over Jittirain being Jittirain but they're charming so far, the introvert just trying to cope with having an extrovert in his space all the time and the introvert with all his own traumas while the extrovert has his own issues but they each cope very, very differently. At least they're charming.

She may never be on the cover of vogue but god damn if she wouldn't make me stop and look twice in a grocery store to admire her. Also if you compare Hermione to a character like Annabeth functionally they have the same role within the story. They are there to drive the plot and be a walking encyclopedia for the reader/main character. And yet where Hermione gets shoved aside and all the cool shit she does happens in the background you get Annabeth doing badass shit right up front. Like, if Annabeth did any of the shit Hermione did it wouldn't be brushed off the way it was. If Annabeth made her family forget her, turned someone into a bug and trapped them in a jar, knitted hats to free elves, any of that shit then Percy would be beside her 100% he would be in awe and absolutely terrified at her power and dedication. But what we get from Harry basically amounts to "Thanks nerd. Anyways, what's my next task?"

because coin probably prides herself as being strategic and saving peeta is an excellent strategic move. he’s affable, charming, and good in front of the cameras. but she doesn’t know peeta well enough to really understand that he isn’t so easily maneuvered.

peeta’s the boy who told katniss i don’t want them to change me in there. turn me into some kind of monster i’m not. he’s the boy who, yes has a way with words, but is so fundamentally such a good person that just the tangible reality of the capitol’s excess made peeta say maybe we were wrong, katniss. about trying to subdue things in the district in public. he’ll do things he doesn’t want to to save innocent lives. maybe he’d even enjoy the shooting propos so that the revolution could burn brighter. but if he felt the same weariness as katniss does about coin then he would’ve turned the districts on coin eventually yk

I got these shoes from someone recently but thought they were way too plain looking, so I set out on a quest to customize them with some sharpies and charms and miscellaneous ribbon I had in my craft drawers. Mostly sky themed (clouds, rainbows, rain, stars, etc.) because that's my favorite aesthetic, but I had to include some cat imagery as well, of course lol.
