you cannot argue for “a religionless world” without inherently and inadvertently calling for cultural genocide.

most of these exvangelicals don’t even care to explore the ways they’re still part of the cultural hegemonic majority. they don’t care to realize they’re still *culturally* christian, and that just because they now don’t believe in a god, it doesn’t mean their values, their perspective, their ethics, their cosmology, their politics *are no longer* influenced by their experience of their specific brand of protestantism/christianity. they are, most of the times and by all means, Christian Atheists™️

they have no interest in unpacking how their critique and disdain for “the Old Testament God” has historically affected and continues to affect Jewish people to this day. they have no interest in unpacking how their open mockery of Jesus also offends Muslims, not just their hometown church.

Christianity hurt you. but that does not give you a free-pass to be weird about all religious people and their beliefs. especially when their background, experience, level of privilege, geographical location, and religion practiced looks nothing like what you used to do. because, believe it or not, not “all religion” is the same. it’s soooo not that simple.

“end all religion” sounds like a liberatory chant when your ex-religion belongs to the cultural-religious hegemony of your region and has a strong political and social power (which IS to be criticised and dismantled, don’t get me wrong.) however, “end all religion” sounds a LOT less liberatory when you’re a persecuted religious minority. because “when” we do “end all religion,” who do you fucking think is going to be ended first?

TLDR: good for you for deconstructing. 👍 now, deconstruct some more. 👍 atheism is fine, anti-theism is a harmful pipeline.

aaa thank u so much!! unfortunately my computer is quite old so recording speedpaints really take a toll, but here’s a breakdown of my process!

I do a couple different styles but its really just two different approaches (merge + paint OR line art -> flat colors -> shading), and then i just mix and match depending on mood haha

hopefully that was helpful!! the painting style is the fastest for portraits and becomes slower the more overlapping elements there are lol (which tends to happen for half or full bodies) which is when I tend to switch to the cel shading style bc I'm impatient haha

The parallels between Dean verbalizing the way John failed him as a father in Dream a Little Dream of Me and acknowledging that he didn’t deserve what John put on him & Dean calling Mary out in Who We Are for making a deal that left them alone and put him in the position of having to step up and be a father and a mother to Sam instead of just being his brother !

I have been thinking about this line since the cancellation.

Because, David Zaslav, what did you think was going to happen? What did you expect to happen when you take this show away from a group of misfits, who have been fighting their whole lives for their and their loved ones' right to exist and be seen and understood and accepted in this world? Did you think we were going to say "too bad" and move on?

No. This is about more than getting our pirate show back. This is about the right for queer, disabled, BIPOC stories to be told in media. This is inherently a fight for queer rights, and yes, there are much more important fights to be had within that movement, but this is part of a bigger picture. Because if we are not seen in media, in everyday life, if we are not normalized, then we will always be less than. And at this point, we are sick and tired of being told that.

So if you think you can get rid of us without us fighting back, then you're wrong. You don't know the first thing about our community.

People quote this line a lot, but it irks me that they often leave out the most important part: "...when the world has told you you're nothin'." I understand the message is much more universal without it, but I think by leaving it out the whole meaning of the message changes. Because minorities get told that they're nothing every fucking day and sometimes our community is the only safe place where we're seen as actual people. And WB/Max is telling us we're nothing right now, by cancelling a successful, critically acclaimed queer show with BIPOC and disabled representation just for the lolz.

Something I have to get off my chest. After seeing a spike in posts about the same thing this past week alone, I thought I'd hop on the train.

I'm well aware I'm not very liked in the RPC. I'm not sure why.

I no longer participate in events like chewsday, TO Tuesday, Sinday, etc because my own starter calls get ignored, and efforts to interact with other blogs, moots or new, hit a brickwall.

Interactions with moots has also dipped, in some cases evaporated.

I've almost given up on making the first move following or interacting with non-followers because nothing happens.

1 in 25 of asks I send get answered.

Putting time and effort into giving attention to new faces is draining, and having an impact on my interest in continuing that.

I'll go to follow or send a prompt to a blog I've never tried, and often found myself blocked. Most of the time it's a blog I've never seen before, never mind haven't interacted with.

98% of the time when I have new followers, they fall into 1 of 2 categories = zero interaction, like or reblog art once in a while. OR, they hardblock me.

I'm getting closer to my 1 year anniversary, but to show for it, I have 19 followers, most of which are inactive or abandoned personals.

BlueSky + Twitter comes to a total of 119.

I have never peaked past 22 in Tumblr, again the majority are always personals. It's normally sitting on 12-15 followers after stabilising for 24 hours, then it drops.

I'll see Muns argue numbers don't count, but in the same breath go on to brag about breaking another 3 digit milestone, like 400 or 600, then whinge about how they still don't have enough, feeling lonely & unseen.

To be frank it's gotten tiring hearing the same old excuse 'but you're intimidating / I'm not good enough for you'. You start to tune out when that's all you hear after nearly a full year. It's not it. Not a thoughtful excuse. It's a kneejerk monotonous excuse that shirks personal accountability, like it's anonymous.

It's hard, feeling publically ignored and you can't fathom why, besides the usual preconceptions / judgements.

i don’t know who needs to hear this right now, but if you think someone you love is being abused: TELL THEM

no one will know you condemn their abuser’s actions or think they are wrong unless you SAY IT WITH WORDS. your internal feelings that it’s wrong are not enough. when they tell you their partner hit them or screamed at them, don’t just say “oh no, i’m sorry”, say “that’s abusive and unacceptable from a partner”. don’t fucking soft pedal it. i know all the guides say you have to treat an abuse victim like a feral cat and let us come to our own conclusions but sometimes WE CAN’T, sometimes the fog is so thick we will never see unless someone helps.

if you think your friend is being abused, SAY SOMETHING.

SAY IT’S WRONG. SAY YOU CARE. SAY HOW WORRIED YOU ARE OR THEY WILL NEVER KNOW.
