- It's because he's in the CIA, huh? I'm just a dumb delivery driver. - No, Diego. - Then why? - Because I needed something for myself, okay? Something other than changing diapers and wine moms and ballet class. At least you get to get outside the house every day. I'm just trapped in this unending suburban hellscape. - I mean, that's good to know. That the life we built is so bad. - That's not what I meant. - You think I like delivering packals day in and day out? Busting my ass? Oh, trust me. I'd rather be out there cracking skulls, but, I mean, somebody's gotta show up for this marriage, ecause... it sure as hell ain't you.
Like, I'm sorry, but that was torture to watch. At this point, I thought Five was just going to be used for a wannabe humorous interlude in a story about Lila supposedly having an affair with no further response… But… do you really feel like their relationship is just one grey cloud in the sky? That all they have to do is talk and it'll all be resolved?
The way she looks at him, he's showing off for her and she's just embarrassed. In the car, she wants to confide in him about how she feels and he turns it back on himself and his problems. Plus, he fits the role of hero, head of the family. And she's the ungrateful and selfish. At this point, I was just thinking, oh, girl, I'm sorry it turned out this way.
I think she talked to him many times, but he didn't want to listen or even understand her. That's the worst thing that can happen in a relationship. Their paths may have started together, but after that they went their separate ways.
In fact, I get the feeling he didn't appreciate her at all and took her for granted. He found a girl with wild blood, a crazy personality and a sparkle in her eye and made her a housewife. She looks so tired, unhappy and frustrated! And he's like, you got me, you got the kids, you got the house, take care of all that and be happy!
In my opinion, Lila was never that type. She probably did it for him (I don't doubt her love for her kids) but it must have been killing her more and more every day.
Sorry, this is what I think. And I'm not saying this as a shipper, but as a woman. I understand her for my own personal reasons, let's say. It made me really sad...
The fact that she fell in love again and someone actually saw her, cared for her, understood her and loved her above all else was just beautiful.

So many people are saying that maybe Diego will die and then Five and Lila will be together do you think that's true based on what you've seen?? 😭😭😭
lmaoooo good question anon. this one is particularly funny to me because i just really don’t think it’s going to happen (or at least i very strongly hope not)
i’m assuming diego is going to get the fake death this season (in the past 3 seasons at least one umbrella has a ‘fake death’ near the end of the season: allison in s1, ben in s2, luther in s3). but this is just my assumption based on how the tua instagram and promos seem to be teasing it. also steve blackman has said multiple times that this is a happy ending! (i think) so it’s pretttyyyy safe to say that most of, if not all of the umbrellas will make it out alive.
while in the first episode diego is led to believe that lila is maybe cheating on him with five, i personally didn’t see any romantic subtext hinted between the two at all. they work REALLY well as friends and as much as the writers are iffy on the characters sometimes i really don’t think they’d do this. it’s also just- straight up weird? five is physically 19/20 in s4 and is still very much a 60 (ish… this is debatable) year old man mentally. on the other hand lila is 35? 36? even ignoring their personalities and character traits, the age gap is just weird.
anyways anon the main bit of evidence i can give you is that during their dinner lila specifically complains about how hard it is being a mother and wife and five responds with something about being thankful he never got married (delores erasure but. okay.) this explanation is a bit biased because putting lila and five in a romantic relationship is something that just might ruin the show for me, but i am trusting that the writers wouldn’t do something like that. i am very strongly hoping that diego and lila are endgame, and if not, then let lila be a strong independent woman herself 🙏
#my distaste for the very idea of lila x five is very clear in this post#as an aroace five truther i have to do my part 😔#thanks for the question anon i was waiting for someone to ask smth like this lmaooo#lila and five work EXCELLENTLY as friends and i am praying that it stays that way#the umbrella academy#tua#umbrella academy#tua s4#tua s4 spoilers#my rambles

Fivela future possibilities?
Let's be honest, The Umbrella Academy series doesn't have the best track record with relationships lasting to endgame. If their is a spin off series with our old cast thrown in, wonder if they would still give us Five/lila. Five has been a fan favorite since the series started and has been the focal point of storylines. He will always be essential so I don't think they would throw the developments leading to his end away. Lila had become an important character as well in her own right. Their was a slow burn build up with unresolved words between them. The subway was always a fixed point in time given all the fives from the deli/diner were aware of it and tried their hardest to find a solution. Wouldn't that go to reason that lila and five's relationship was a destined event? I'd like to think so. Think their coupling would be given more care since they are both superheroes and shared time together in terms of scenes since season 2. The showrunner has expressed an interest in doing a spinoff with the time commission and Hazel and Cha Cha. That sounds like a perfect door for five to come back and to ease into seeing more with him and lila. He founded the commission. Had become so well versed with the rules of time to be able to make a panic room to keep him safe. He also could have been the one to create the subway system as a means of having a contingency plan in case his time commission was destroyed. Then their is the opening for flashbacks and extra scenes from the infinite switchboard. It is how lila saw for herself, being murdered by the handler. Anywho, let me know your thoughts~

My thoughts on The Umbrella Academy’s season 4 Love Triangle. Spoilers below!
Please Note:
This is ridiculously long and consists of my thoughts and interpretations of the characters and their motivations/ feelings based on what we got to see from the show. They aren’t necessarily right or wrong for the characters- they are literally just my interpretations and likes and dislikes with how they handled the love triangle in this season of the Umbrella Academy.
I do not want to get in debates or arguments about the merits of either couple, if the storyline should have been included in the first place, of what is in or out of character, or about who is endgame, or anything else. If you agree with my opinions cool; if you disagree with them cool; if you want to share those thoughts or have a conversation about it, also cool.
But please skip this post if you’re just looking for a fight. This was more for me to organize my thoughts on them, and share for others who found Five and Lila as a couple unexpectedly (for me at least) engaging.
Other Things to Note that I don’t really get into in the main body of this:
-I think there are a hell of a lot of plot holes and inconsistencies, and some poor dialogue scripting in season 4. Some of which really, really bother me. But I think the storylines and plots had potential as concepts and could have been done so much better had there been more money & care to make more episodes. (Some of the concepts would probably have needed much more time than a full season to really be done well though...)
Overall, I didn’t hate season 4 so much as I was kind of underwhelmed and a little disappointed by it. [But if we’re being honest, while I like TUA overall, I do think each season was at least a little bit worse as a whole than the previous one anyway, despite there being good and/or great parts to every season too…]
-I did feel like most of the characters were a little off compared to how they acted in previous seasons. However I don’t know if that had more to do with:
a) lazy and/ or rushed writing, or
b) the plot/ time skip
I am one of those who thinks Five actually is a little calmer in nature, but a lot more manic the more stressful and pressing the situation gets. However he doesn’t have a lot of the same smugness and sarcasm that I was expecting either. Diego doesn’t have the same kind of determined motivation he shows in previous seasons, and Lila is a little less chaotic even if there are still a few hints at it.
Now part of that, I think, is due to the 6 years time difference and the characters growth that we missed during that. Especially considering their new circumstances: Diego and Lila being parents and Five, for the first time since he first time traveled to the future, was not in the middle of (nor actively trying to stop) an apocalypse. Plus ALL the characters had adjustments to make in being without their powers.
Part of it, I’m assuming, is also because of the shortened episode count leading to a poorer script overall. And I’m hoping that had we got a full season we would have been able to see a little more of their previous characterization come through too.
-My opinion about Five’s sexuality since that seems to be a topic of conversation for some who felt he was OOC in that regards:
To be honest I don’t really have a clear idea of it, other than he is absolutely not aromantic, in my opinion. I can respect your opinion if you do/did and were disappointed, but he thought up a wife for himself when he was alone- not friends or a substitute of his family. To me that just means he’s a big romantic at heart.
Whether he’s asexual, Demi-sexual, bi/pan or straight otherwise, I honestly have no clue. I think I gravitate towards him needing an emotional connection for him to have a fulfilling relationship in the show. But I think I saw somewhere that he got around a lot in the comics, and I could see that too if that’s the unspoken assumption they were using.
Side note on Dolores: I thought 5’s romance with her was a great addition to 5’s personal story and as a way to show the basic human nature of needing others, but I’m also kind of glad that she didn’t actually become real, because at the end of the day, she was a delusion of his, and I don’t really want to see that story. (Just my opinion; no harm meant to others who would have liked that plot.)
-Sometime around the middle of season 3, I actually remember thinking that if Aiden/ 5 had been older or Ritu/ Lila younger, I would have shipped the shit out of the characters because of their symmetry and contrasts. However, I also immediately dismissed the thought because the physical age gap IS a little weird for me. I didn’t read their scenes as necessarily romantic or sexual, so much so as they could have been if they were of the same age (at least for me).
In universe, I took it as the characters being kind of fascinated by each other, both getting enjoyment out of goading and poking at one another, but there wasn’t really genuine interest in pursuing each other either. (In hindsight of season 4, though I suppose it was really laying the groundwork for what would eventually turn romantic.)
I thought the writers were going to make Five and Lila the “platonic besties who, to a stranger, looked like they were a couple but really weren’t” and Diego and Lila were going to be the “contentious and passionate couple who argued as much as they loved”.
After season 4 though, I adjusted my thinking, and that’s kind of the basis around my opinions in the main body below.
****************
By the end of season 3, I thought Diego and Lila might have been the best relationship that was still on going. Despite that, I couldn’t bring myself to ship it either. They were never True Love/ OTP material for my tastes, because while they certainly had passion, they lacked the kind of emotional connection that would draw me in. (Don’t ask me what that is specifically because most of the time I have no idea what makes me ship one couple over another…) So, even though I think it had the most development, I also was just not attached to them as a couple.
And maybe my apathy towards them as a couple is making me biased, but Diego and Lila being unhappy with each other and their domestic life made sense to me. It was surprising, because I thought they were going to make them a “happy violent” couple, (or at least something more along the lines of what the rest of the fandom had expected) but not truly shocking either.
Diego and Lila had only known each other for about four months by the time season 3 ended. And again their actual romantic scenes mostly take place during the few days we see on screen in season 2. It might not have been as quick as a “love at first sight” arc, but it was definitely a whirlwind romance.
Also, Lila grew up under the Handler and was primed from the start to be her weapon. So, I think Lila being around Diego for months (I’m working with the assumption that she was in the institute nearly as long, if not longer than Diego) would naturally lead to her becoming infatuated with him.
After all, Diego is a handsome, good, & maybe a little bit goofy man who cares about people and justice, and loves his family; and they had a lot of passion/ sexual connotations to their scenes. I feel like he was everything she thought she ever wanted.
And it was much the same for Diego. She was the wild, manic pixie girl of his dreams whose personal brand of crazy drove him mad as well. He’s got childhood trauma, too, which he relates to with her, and I think in the beginning he kind of viewed her as both damsel in distress and partner in crime, which would appeal to his need to be a hero and his desire to not be alone.
(I’ve always thought of Diego as the most insecure of the siblings, and his need to be THE hero- not just any hero but the main star of the show kind of hero- was the way he hid from his inner insecurities and desire to fit in and be noticed.)
Season 2 was essentially Diego and Lila falling for each other despite being on opposing sides; and it’s clear that both had strong feelings for each other. Season 3 picks up immediately after and is also only a few days long. The main plot point for Diego and Lila’s relationship in this season, was essentially them deciding to give their relationship a go and establishing them as soon to be parents.
Season 3 also continues some precedents that were set in season 2, and continue in season 4. (Lila lying, Diego not noticing or misunderstanding a part of her character, Five and Lila having a side adventure/ arc on their own, and Diego noticing Lila was around Five.)
Now there are obviously more details and nuances to both seasons- showing Diego and Lila both feeling like they can open up to each other a bit more than they felt they could with others, showing their desire for a family, and to be better than their parents, establishing the fear of failure in that regards (at least for Lila) etc.
And while It might not have been my ship, I don’t want to diminish their bond either. Diego and Lila obviously had a connection and cared a great deal about each other, and were probably happy and in love for a while too. But none of that changes that fact that Diego and Lila had a whirlwind romance built amidst lies and high stakes, end-of-the-world stress, on top of an unplanned pregnancy, all within only knowing each other for 4 months at most.
And in light of that, it’s not actually surprising that when the dust settled and things were calmer, the cracks in their foundation were visible. I think they were both swept up in their connection to each other and their dreams of having a family and life better than what they had, that they never saw that maybe they weren’t quite right for each other, maybe they each needed something a little different than what the other could offer.
It’s clear in the first episode that they are not in the best of places as individuals nor as a couple. Diego hates his job and is constantly complaining about his life. He’s a bit suspicious of Lila and her whereabouts but also seems to miss, or at least underestimate, how hard things are on Lila.
Lila is visibly and verbally struggling with her role as a mother, as being too tied to that identity, and is sneaking out of the house to do undercover work and lying about it to her husband. She’s constantly badgered with Diego complaining, but also kind of fails to acknowledge that his motivation for doing a job he hates is to provide for their family.
Neither of them are truly happy with the way their lives turned out. And I think a large part of that was because they tried to change themselves to fit the mold of what they thought they should be in their dreams of a family, rather than finding a balance of being themselves with and as a family.
But there’s a disconnect between them as a couple too. From their scenes in episode 1-4, I got the impression that Diego, while clueless to Lila’s unhappiness/ struggles, nonetheless still had feelings for her because he was still trying to show off to her (the chef had the wrong technique, throwing the axes blind, holding her whilst convincing her to go on the road trip, etc.).
I got the impression that for Lila it was the opposite. She still loved him as a person and a father to her children, but she couldn’t bring herself to feel the same way she did in the previous seasons either. Every overture he made, even if it wasn’t exactly the most romantic, she met with annoyance or disdain. And while she might have laughed at him previously, she also defended him too. This season she was the one poking at him the most without defending him really at all.
Had she never got lost on that subway with Five, maybe they would have been able to work it out and it really was just a slump for them, one of the lower points in the ups and downs that every couple experiences. But (in my opinion at least) her annoyance in Diego’s attempts at reaching out and the fact that after six years she still felt the need to lie to him rather than talk about her unhappiness were more a sign that the romantic love was gone for Lila. That after the initial whirlwind romance and honeymoon period, she wasn’t quite in love with him anymore; at least, not in the “you’re my forever person” kind of way.
But I think she’s stubborn, and she so wanted a family with him, that it kept her from saying anything about what she was going through for so long. And I think Diego was totally oblivious to this in the face of his own struggles with domesticity, but I also think that maybe he was a little less in love than he thought too?
I’m of mixed opinions on this, but it felt a little weird to me that he was more upset- at least in the moment- that she went undercover than that she had potentially cheated. It could just be that in the moment he was so upset to be left out of the action that he wasn’t really thinking about how much bigger of an issue it would be had she cheated. (Or maybe cheating just isn’t as big a deal to him as it would be to me? Like I said I don’t have a good read on this…)
But I could also see it as potentially showing him having settled into his choice in loving her forever rather than truly feeling- without falter- like she was his forever person. Either way he definitely still has feelings for her, and that’s what made me so much more sad for Diego.
Especially because, in the end, it was his brother that it happened with. I feel like her choosing to save Five at the Mexican Consulate in season 2 instead of him has always sat in the back of his mind, and that’s why he’s always noticed when they are together. Of course he went through the realization that she had first used him to get close to/ watch Five, but when she came back to bring him into the Commission he knew she had genuine feelings for him too, and I don’t really think he questioned it much after that.
But it’s something that I think stayed with him, lurking in his subconscious. Knowing that when he was on a metaphorical ledge and first reached out to her for help, she chose Five instead. And that’s why he always noticed when Lila and Five were together.
Also, I think the first two greenhouse scenes spoke volumes about both (though indirectly for Diego & Lila’s) relationships. It was mentioned at least twice in season 3 that Lila’s worried about not being cut out for a maternal, domestic role, and her struggles in the beginning of season 4 probably felt like confirmation of that to her. But then we see in episode 5 that she can be happy in a softer domestic role, when she’s with the right person.
I’m 100% aware that it’s different for Lila and Diego with the kids and real world things like mortgage, school, taxes, etc. than it is for Five and Lila who only had each other & whose sole focus is on surviving and getting back to their home. I understand the nuances make a HUGE difference. But at the end of the day, for Lila they are two sucky -albeit very different kinds of sucky- situations with two different men. And she’s happier making do with one than the other.
Which brings me to the Five/ Lila portion of things. I was VERY caught off guard by the fact that the writers/ producers actually went there. As in all the way up to episode 5, I thought the writers were just making hints of Lila/ Five as a red herring, or to highlight Diego’s insecurities. But then I saw the intro to episode 5, and thought oh, they were actually building them up as a potential couple. And the greenhouse scenes sealed it for me- whatever they might say, the writers really went there and let Five and Lila fall in love.
It was both a slightly uncomfortable and a very pleasant surprise. I’m not a big fan of big age gaps, they tend to leave me feeling a little icky, but there have been several ships of mine that it happens with because I feel like it makes sense with their characters and how deep or strong their emotional connection and history is. I don’t really enjoy that aspect, but I won’t deny that there are some stories that I just accept it & move on (notably book canon Braime for me).
Five and Lila is worse simply because Five is in the body of a 13 year old in the first three seasons, and that’s just a firm no all around for me. But his mind was that of a 58 year old and just because he’s had a weird thing happen to him, doesn’t mean that he suddenly can’t think or feel like any other adult does (I’m honestly kind of thankful they did at least wait, because it would have felt wrong to me when he was physically 13, despite knowing he was much older mentally).
It also helps that that kind of mentally older, physically younger character at some point take on “vampire rules” for me (as in the contrast between mental and physical age of some vampire/ immortal/ supernatural character and their human love interest is so absurd and abstract that it somehow cancels out for me).
And by the time there’s any kind of romantically intimate scenes between the two, Five is 25/26. And even though it’s heavily implied they slept together, all that’s actually shown are a couple of fairly tame kisses.
Furthermore, they’re both mentally adults, and had it ever reset to a timeline without any time travel involved, Lila and Five would probably be the same age (all the super power kids were born on the same day after all). So it’s really not that big of an issue when they actually do get together.
The other aspect that makes me a little uncomfortable about Five and Lila is of course, Diego and Lila’s relationship. I already mentioned that it wasn’t necessarily something I personally shipped, but it was the relationship I think the audience members were most familiar with, and them having a family and still technically being together, made it a little sad to see Five and Lila happy with each other.
I would have personally preferred the writers completely dissolve the Diego/ Lila relationship before actually having Five/ Lila get together, because I’m not a huge fan of cheating storylines, especially when there’s kids involved.
I also feel like they could have hit most of the same emotional beats even if they had let Diego and Lila divorce first? Like it still would have been an emotionally charged reveal scene at the house if Diego had something along the lines of “that was my wife, we only divorced a week ago” or “you’re my brother and she was my wife, what the hell!?”. But I actually think the writers were trying to leave the “end game” couple up to interpretation, which felt too much like a cop out to me.
I think most audience members just needed more screen time of all three & that would have helped quell some of the hate Five & Lila get. We needed more time to see how Diego and Lila’s romance fizzled and died out, and more time to feel the weight of the 6.5 years on the subway building to Five and Lila’s romance.
I think it would have been better received if they had a fourth, fifth, and side season, or made this fourth season extra long (like 12-16 episodes) with a split release (first in August, and the latter half of the episodes during Christmas time) with a mini or side season (or even a movie) of just Five and Lila’s subway adventures. Kind of like how they did a Queen Charlotte story between seasons of Bridgerton.
There would always be some who refused to like it because of the age gap, or because they just prefer Diego/Lila or Five & Lila as purely platonic; but I think more time would have helped shorten the list of haters at least a little (and given the writers an opportunity to work the kinks out of more of the storylines in general).
Like I said earlier I’m not a big fan of the cheating aspect of their relationship, but I also don’t entirely think it’s fair the way so many people seem to view it as Five “letting Lila betray his brother with him” or “Five not caring about his brother is so OOC. He’d never betray Diego just to fuck”.. Because from what I watched, that’s not what happened at all??
Putting aside the “letting her cheat” (because they’re all grown ass adults and no one is responsible for someone else’s actions) I don’t get how people don’t see the love that grew between Five and Lila. Lila might be saying verbally that it was “only survival” and that “it’s over”, but her actions, expressions, and tones all scream love and care and affection.
I think Lila was a little confused when she gets back, but it’s also very obvious that she loves Five in the same way it was obvious in season 2 that Lila was downplaying her interest and affection/ love for Diego when she said “nah” to killing him like the Handler suggested.
And it’s the same for Five. If it had only been a physical or lonely thing, I don’t really think it would have happened. It’s because it was Lila, who is so similar and so opposite him in equal measure that he fell in love with her. And it’s because he loves her that he would want to pursue a full relationship with her. The fact that they’re human and gave into their feelings rather than uphold moral standards wasn’t that crazy of an idea, especially given the somewhat murky circumstances. It was never about purposefully hurting Diego or not caring about him.
Them getting together was two damaged people put in extraordinary circumstances with only each other to rely on for years, without any knowledge of how long they would be alone, surviving through hardships and growing in love. Or at least, that’s how I interpreted their relationship from what we got to see.
None of that felt out of character for either of them to me. Everything through the first two greenhouse scenes (minus a few dialogue/ scripting issues) felt pretty in character to me, all things considered. What did feel wrong and out of character for me was Five hiding the journal for months and him saying he wants to kill Diego and physically fighting him, while the rest of their family fought the Bennifer Blob monster.
I get wanting to show Five struggling with the decision to prioritize the world because for the first time he’s actually experienced love and happiness with a real person; plus they already started him on the do “not save the world” mindset last season. But they could have executed that in a much better way than having him find and hide a cypher book that would take them back home.
[Hell, even within the scene, he could have found it sometime that same morning or within the past couple of days and it would change literally nothing about their argument except the length of time he’s had the journal- because his actions are literally never addressed!]
But while it could just be an expansion of him not wanting to lose the happiness he found, and faltering in his steadfast determinedness to do right by the world and be with his family, it still feels off to his character for me. (Obviously the writers disagree with my interpretation of his character though.)
For me, even though he would grapple with the decision, Five would, in the end at least, still have chosen to go back to save his family & the world because that is so central to him as character. What I think they should have done was have him find it right after or before her gifting him the instant coffee. Have him open the conversation that he found it and Lila being so excited that she initially missed his internal conflict.
It could pan to her realizing what it means to go back, and them having a short talk about it. Lila could say they have to go back because of her kids, they have to go back to save their family. And Five could say he knows but he was happy there with her, and a part of him didn’t want to leave. She could have said she was happy too, but flinched when he went to hold her hand and that could have prompted the start of the argument.
The argument itself could still keep to the core of what it was in the show with only a few dialogue changes, and it would hit all the same emotional tones of the scene but without feeling like Five’s core motivations as a character were totally flipped on its head. Again, that’s just my opinion on it.
I do feel like Five being jealous and lashing out at Diego a bit during the Christmas reveal was in line with how Five might react in that situation. After all, he gets more sarcastic, testy, and even manic with the more stress he’s under. The bracelet line from Diego should have been reworded though. I’m not sure if it was lazy writing, or if they were rushed and/or overlooking things because of the episode cut, but that felt off.
They could have just as easily had him say, “you hate bracelets now” or “you never wear bracelets anymore” before mentioning the traded Valentine’s bracelet, and it still would have shown the disconnect between Diego and Lila in their relationship. A blanket “you hate bracelets” after we had- for two seasons- seen her wear the one he made that she nabbed in season 2 just felt like poor script writing.
And I would be 100% down for the first initial shoves of their fight had that been as far as it went before Five or Diego said they bigger things to worry about and the other passive-aggressively agreed.
Or better yet, if their confrontation happened after the family escaped to Luthor’s, so that the writers could still have Five run off to the subway without having him & Diego, in a sense and literally by Five, abandoning their family & acting stupid in the midst of battle. Because that felt weird and out of character for both of them to me.
I also very much needed a scene where Five apologizes to Diego at least that he hurt him (but not necessarily for loving Lila) and Diego not necessarily forgiving Five, but at least acknowledging him before they died. Because letting things be so unresolved between them and then erasing them from existence was cruel.
All that being said, I very much loved Five and Lila’s relationship with each other. Their dynamic outside of the actual storyline is the perfect mix of enemies to lovers and two broken souls finding solace in each other. And while I do wish they had changed or tweaked a few things, their story was still rather tragically beautiful.
I also firmly believe that had they all survived, Five & Lila probably would have been end game. I think the set up for them was too deep (even if a little too rushed with the episode limit/ being the final season) for Lila to truly be able to go back to Diego. If pushed too much too soon, I think she’d probably try for the sake of the kids. But the unhappiness with each other/ their life together even before the subway time-skip, coupled with the distrust and hurt that comes when a partner cheats, isn’t something I really think Diego and Lila are strong enough as a couple to overcome. And that could have led to even more bitterness and resentment before they finally called it quits.
However, if given enough time, I think Lila would have pulled back from both of them for a bit to figure out what she wanted and focus on her kids, herself, and any ongoing apocalypse situation if there were still one. I think she would have come to the realization that she loves Diego and would always care for him, but that she was no longer in love with him. That when she pictures the rest of her life, it’s Five she wants beside her.
Maybe she procrastinates a bit on talking about it, because she hates the situation and doesn’t want to hurt either one of them, but eventually they’d sort themselves out. But I also think she and Five would have to have a long conversation about taking her choices from her, especially if it involves her kids, because hiding the book was a fairly big betrayal and not something I think she could totally ignore, like they did in the show. (I personally hated that it was even a part of the story to begin with, but Five hiding the journal really needed to be addressed. I hope it would have been if the had more time.)
& If this was along the lines of what they were going to do with the plot if they were to get another season or two, I hope the writers would have used this to let Diego spiral a bit, before confronting his underlying insecurities and moving past it all. Hopefully with a new love interest at some point that is as perfect as can be for him, because I don’t like him sad and he deserves love and a happily ever after too.
On a side note, one thing that I thought was cute & slightly amusing out of context, but firmly believe should have been left on the cutting room floor was the entirety of the van/ “You’re family needs you; I need you” scene. And I know they kept it in to push the uncertainty of the Five/ Lila and Diego/ Lila relationships, but this was too obviously a plot device for the love triangle that just wasn’t believable for me narratively speaking.
Because with Allison’s new powers, Klaus’ ability to raise ghosts that were corporeal, & Diego’s telekinesis with redirecting multiple bullets, what do you mean there were too many enemies for them to handle? And how am I supposed to believe that in the past seven years, Five, who was canonically shot at and chased, never took the time to practice and remaster his blinking abilities?
Especially since they established in episode 4, and earlier in episode 6 when he and Lila returned to the house, that he could apparently- and accurately- time travel over large stretches of time without any issues/ struggles. Not to mention that mere minutes later inside the department store, he’s able blink to the second floor without any problem?
Whatever issues or enjoyment I had with the way they had Five and Lila and Diego’s story unfold, most of it just came down to personal preference, tweaking the script, and needing more episodes. But this scene in particular just felt silly and pointless to me. They could have had Lila say “I need you” in a show of concern, or physically reaching out to Five instead of Diego; only to say the “it’s over” line a few scenes later and it still would have pushed the “who does she choose” narrative. But the fact that the love triangle never gets truly resolved either, makes all of it fall flat, in my opinion. (I thought on first watch that the “it’s over” line was just about the fight and misunderstood by Five, but it could have been about their relationship too. And now we’ll probably never know for sure because they didn’t resolve anything in any of their relationships to each other 😢)
All that being said though, this is a slightly whacky show about very messed up people, who do very messy things all the time- I shouldn’t be surprised they went for the messiest option for how to handle this love triangle…

I forget all that is wrong
Pairing: Diego x Lila
Request: begging for a diego x lila fic after the fuckery we just had to go through literally so wholeheartedly believed they were endgame that i didnt see it coming until The Cursed Episode hit me like a pyramid falling out of the sky. just a fic with the Cursed Element still mentioned or part of the plot... maybe angst with happy ending or them making up with each other just fixing it up pls i need to know they're still okay in some timeline. 😭😭💔
Summary: the Durango/Marigold doesn’t end the world, so Diego has to either save his families functionality or let Lila go.
A/N: named the fic after “sailor song” because that song is just Diego. Also this is extremely angsty!!!
Diego stood in his living room, arms crossed and a saddened look on his face, he’s heartbroken, the love of his life completely betrayed him all for his brother. Diego’s always been known as “Number 2” in his family, he just didn’t expect for it to also remain a fact in his marriage, could he ever win? He thought he’d won the jackpot. In that CIA office he’d finally had reality hit him and he grew to love and appreciate all that he has now, a beautiful wife, 2 daughters and a son, he wasn’t going to take them for granted anymore. That reality was soon out the window as he faced it for what it was, as his entire family and in-laws were in his presence. This was karma for not stepping up to his role as a husband. She needed more. She needed five.
Klaus, Luther and Allison muttered to themselves on the couch as the drama unfolded. Diego overheard everything they were saying and it only made him more overwhelmed. Five and Lila kept making glances back and forth as if everything Diego was feeling was a big joke and that he was overreacting. But he wasn’t. He knew he wasn’t. She broke his walls down only for her to bulldoze the house. Lila’s family remained in the kitchen, sheltering Coco and Stanley from the commotion, Claire distracted Grace by the television and Diego worked up the courage to ask his wife again, “Why?” His lip almost quivered as he got the plea out, Lila just tilted her head as if she didn’t need to answer it again. She tried to reach for Diego, but he stepped back, shaking his head, acting as if he was coping, while inside, his heart disintegrated.
Five gazed at Lila for any sort of defensiveness, hoping she’d fight for him, he was being selfish and Diego didn’t think his brother could ever stoop so low. “We were trapped in that subway.” Lila spoke softly, “I had no other choice.” Hearing her say that just made Diego’s eyes widen and his mouth open without making a sound. He turned around his back to her, tugging on the sleeve of his jumper and he wiped his eye, to dry the stray tears. “I don’t believe you for a second.” He spoke up as he turned to face her, his face bitter. “You did have a choice, we were waiting at home for you and you somehow didn’t have a choice? I was your choice. You chose me. All those years ago with your fucking mom, you chose me, you chose me after you were in a German band, you found me again. So don’t bullshit me, Lila!” He ranted, relaying after each word, the fight wouldn’t stop, he needed to speak his mind, did everything they went through mean nothing? Was she still lying to him, ever since that asylum? Did she just have this entire life with him to hurt him?
Lila’s eyes were filled with mourning as he poured his heart out to her, she knew she wasn’t a good person, hell, she was raised a criminal assassin, how could she ever have a healthy marriage? She hated herself, yet at the same time felt absolutely nothing for the man exploding in front of her. “You know I loved you.” That sounded better in her head, she saw his expression falter even farther than it already had, she felt guilty, did she not love him anymore? She didn’t know. “Loved?” Diego nodded knowing her sympathy would be impossible to gain. Klaus’ face grew confused while he sat on the couch drinking an apple juice box. Allison registered that this was way worse than what happened when ray left. Luther was thoughtless, only wondering if Diego was gonna be okay.
Ben and Viktor sat in the kitchen with the twins, keeping their distance from this commotion, the only principle Viktor had was that he knew the old five wouldn’t ever try something like this, he was just happy Ben and Jennifer went their separate ways before this.
Diego placed his hands on his hips, trying to keep some stability within himself and not curl up in a ball and never get up. Diego diverged his attention to Five. He swallowed before he spoke, “So you grow some stubble and suddenly you think it’s okay to screw my wife?!” His voice raised a significant amount, the reality of his words hitting. Five’s face didn’t falter, ever composed. “It’s not like you were exactly capable.” Five chimed in, snarky, causing Lila to looked at the floor and Diego to smile out of pure malice.
Claire looked to Allison for some assurance that what she was hearing was correct, there was only so much she could distract Grace with, seeing as they were in the same room, and she has ears. Allison just shook her head softly to her daughter signalling that interference wouldn’t help the situation any.
Five chimed in again, seeming to be dissecting Diego’s every movement. “You’ve been questioning it the entire time, you’ve always felt inferior with me in the picture. It was only a matter of time before she listened to your insecurity and decided it was the only way to shut you up.” Five gave a presumptuous smile to his brother and watched him unravel, he was sick. Lila just looked at five with some disturbance in her expression. That’s not what she was doing at all. She interrupted and stood between the men, almost announcing to the whole family. “Right this is over! Get out!” She kicked everyone out of her home, except her blood relatives and Diego. The hargreeves rushed out, Allison ushering Claire out the door, knowing she didn’t want Lila’s wrath. Ben and Viktor snuck out the back door, heading to the nearest bar. Five was the last to go, he was a stage-five clinger. Diego pushed the man’s chest and five’s balance wobbled, then Lila pushed Diego. “Please, snap out of it,” Lila yelled to him. “Five just go.” Lila’s gaze on Five longed for him to understand and five couldn’t take it and just blinked out of her home. Diego still feeling Lila’s touch linger on his chest, felt repulsed in his own body, he wished for nothing more than to be swallowed whole by his devastation. “I’ll be upstairs. Not that you give a shit.” Diego huffed as he mumbled, dragging his heavy feet up the stairs, and to his bedroom.
Once in there he saw an image of he, Lila and the kids at Santa’s grotto, they’d taken that a week ago, well according to her it was 7 years ago. He shed a tear knowing that his children’s lives were torn apart too, he would take the pain for them, he didn’t want his kids growing up in a broken home, he’d had enough of that for one lifetime, they deserved a healthy family. They’re just kids, his kids, Lila’s kids. But not their kids, not anymore. He turned the image over, not wanting to be reminded on what a failure these last six years to him have been. He then laid on his bed limply, his face grieving the past 40 minutes.
After what felt like an hour of just laying there, replaying memories and happy times with his family, a small knock hit the door, so faint that Diego barely heard it at all, yet he still sat up, and the door opened, Grace. She walked in and jumping on the bed beside her father, not as energetic as she usually is, she can sense Diego’s despair, she was observant like that.
“Papi, are you okay?” Her small hand holds his big one, he can hardly look at her, knowing all he’ll do is cry, knowing he’s failed her. Diego sniffled and wiped his eyes with his free hand, nodding. “Yeah, princess, papi is just feeling a little sad that’s all. Nothing he can’t handle.” Diego was Grace’s hero, the hero Diego was destined to be all along, not some super abled soldier, but a caregiver to this sweet angel. Grace just nuzzled into Diego’s arm and rubbed his hand with hers, “Everything’s going to be okay, it’s a bad day, not a bad life.” She relayed a phrase Diego would always tell her to soothe her, he smiled for the first time in hours, her reassurance helping him.
“How’s Mamī?” He asked her, hoping he’d get an answer without having to actually speak to Lila. Grace just shrugged, giving a little childlike sigh, “She’s not home.” That made Diego concerned, he then lifted Grace up to look at him. “What do you mean, mija?” Diego questioned his child, hoping for a straightforward answer, and straightforward is exactly what she gave him. “Uncle Five.” Fucking hell. That hurt. “You’re kidding…” he mumbled as he hugged Grace, she could barely grasp why that made her father hug her, but she accepted it anyways, she always loved a hug from him. Diego didn’t want to let go, he needed the safety, and Grace could never disappoint him.
“Okay, listen to me, I’m going to go find Mamī, you stay here with your brother and sister, and Cousin Ronnie will look after you.” Grace looked confused, her Cousin ronnie was a hoot but she wondered where both her parents were going and why they kept leaving. “Papi, don’t go for long again, we really missed you and mom.” She was mentioning this week when Diego and Lila went in Wanda to rescue Jennifer from New Grumpson. Diego placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder and smiled, “I promise sweetheart, I’ll be back before bedtime.” He kissed the top of her head and they both headed down the stairs, and when they did Diego slipped his shoes on and stopped Grace, “Thank you for the pep talk.” He nodded to her and she laughed running into the kitchen, she will never truly know how much she helped Diego and he was okay with that.
Diego sat in wanda contemplating his entire life. Luckily, Luther fixed the baby shark fiasco and he could play whatever he wanted. He slipped in a CD he always loved, his guilty pleasure if you will. Selena. ‘No Me Queda Más’. Maybe it wasn’t the best song to play as it was very depressing but he started the mini-van and began to drive, to wherever Five and Lila may be. His anger was settling but his melancholia began to drown him.
After driving for 30 minutes Diego was covered in dried tears, and they were getting covered with fresh ones. Turns out Luther didn’t fix the CD player and this one Selena song has been playing on a loop for the 15th time. Diego was in shambles, and he couldn’t turn the song off. Diego just gave up and parked the car in an alleyway, crying his eyes out, with a hit of the steering wheel, “She’s gonna leave, she’s gonna leave, she’s gonna leave.” He hit the wheel again. “She is going to leave your pathetic ass, for an even more pathetic ass, in a black suit.” He mumbled to himself, hating how this situation was playing out.
Selena was still singing her heart out through the speaker and Diego just cradled himself and sobbed uncontrollably, like a baby. It hasn’t hit him until now that Lila was the only one who ever even took the time to understand him. No one ever batted an eye at a deeper dimension to him, they only bothered to barely learn the surface level of who he really was. He loves her with all his heart, he was sensitive in a way that he felt like he still owed her his all. Even if she wouldn’t reciprocate. Because he chose her, it would always be her. Whether she wanted him or not.
He decided to call her. He knew space was probably the right option but he needed her to hear his piece. Even if she left it to voicemail. The call dialed, and a beep hit the call, she hadn’t picked up, but he persisted.
“Mi Vida, I know you won’t respond or even care if I call but I deserve this. I deserve to tell you just how much your time with me meant, how having Grace and the twins improved my life and gave me purpose. How you gave me purpose. Yeah we fight and yeah we aren’t the healthiest in the bunch but you’ve opened my mind to various possibilities that I didn’t think I could have. And you may love Five, and you may divorce me but I haven’t for a second thought ill of you. I-I…I love you. Mi Alma. And I meant it when I said things would change, I’ll always be here waiting.”
The dial tone rang a second time. That’s all he could say. His stutter even appearing again told him all he needed to know, how deeply emotionally wounded this had left him, he’d be a hollow shell for a while. His grip now back on the steering wheel he gripped it with force, trying to pass through any emotions he didn’t quite want to feel. Oh he’d give anything to go back to the start, when they were in padded walls together and they were only just beginning to know one another. She’d always be the shining star in any room he was in with her. He may even love her enough to let her go. But Diego has an ego bigger and more stubborn than his sadness. He knows he will never feel fulfilled unless she’s back at home with him, but he can’t find her.
His forehead rested on the wheel and he sighed shakily, every percentage of water having left his body through tears. Just then a flash of purple glowed from outside the front window. He gazed up thinking it was just the motel sign from across the street, but it wasn’t, it was Lila. Diego’s eyes moped, shoulder slumping, and he quickly unbuckled his belt and hopped out to hold her. She was a wreck too, wanting nothing more than for him to mend her.
“I’m so sorry, Diego, I was so cruel, and I fucked up and I’m disgusted at what I’ve done.” As she rambled Diego just held her face in his hands, both of them tear stricken, he just wiped the tears and stray hairs from her face and smiled, laughing softly. “I love you.” He assured her, admiring her like he used to. She was taken aback that he’d even considered giving her that second chance, and she closed her eyes, melting into his touch and she felt his lips graze her own. Lila felt as if the last 7 years have melted into oblivion and she just had the life she never should’ve left, Diego was the only one who would ever know her on a deeper level than five ever could, he saw her as a concept that he could intellectualise with his own projections. But Diego saw Lila as Lila, his crazy wife who would put him in his place as she pleased, she was her own person and he was happy to just be in her presence, that was love. Not growing strawberries in a green house, suppressing trauma and trying to forget the bad.
Lila wrapped her arms around Diego’s neck and pulled herself closer to her husband, he was the only one who could make her feel this way. Diego was just relieved that she chose him and gave their marriage another chance, because he’s already changed his mindset and has been better, it was now his chance to show her that. He deepened his kiss, lifting her up in his arms effortlessly, and carrying her to the hood of the mini-van, setting her down, without breaking the invitation of vulnerability. He wasn’t going to take that for granted again, and neither was she.

Umbrella Academy S4 Spoilers
Well, I finally finished the new season and I have to say, unpopular opinion, I didn't hate it guys! I had heard so many people catastrophizing about it that I was really scared, but I think the biggest thing it had going against it was that it was so condensed compared to past seasons that they really didn't have the time to delve into plot lines like I wish they could have. Definitely it was my least favourite of all the seasons, it's impossible to beat S2 for me, but it was also not the flaming pile of garbage I was worried it was going to be. I do think they could have filled in some gaps in relation to Sloane and Ray, who were both briefly mentioned with little context. Klaus's kidnapping storyline felt out of place. And of course I wish we could have had a happier ending but TUA really is a tragicomedy at the end of the day so I was not surprised at all. In fact I thought it was a rather fitting ending, that, in the end, they were able to come together, forgive each other and save the world one final time. I found it really beautiful. The forgiveness between Viktor and Alison was especially touching. Now, let's talk Five/Lila. Was I the only one not surprised by this? Honestly, I have not been a shipper of theirs but I remember at the end of S3 wondering if something more was going to come from their obvious chemistry. I even had a suspicion, due to Lila's habit of fabricating stories and Five's habit of discovering things his future selves have done later on, that a shoe was going to drop that the baby was actually Five's. I am so glad that didn't actually happen but I'm just saying those thoughts were in the back of my head because the chemistry was there from the beginning. I think it kind of makes sense because out of the whole group Lila and Five have a shared history of being assassins for the Commission and have a familiarity with time travel. Truly, I think Lila is probably the only one that actually gets Five. I also... didn't hate it. (*hides*) I liked it for what it was. It brought a softness to Five that we hadn't previously seen before. It's not something I would want as "endgame", I still adore Lila and Diego. I still think Lila loves Diego and her children and their life they built together. She didn't want to give that up. However she was stranded with Five for 7 years, alone, fighting for survival, unsure if they would ever find their way back home or what would greet them when they did. I can empathize with them leaning on each other in that situation. I don't blame them for seeking a shred of happiness in such a bleak time in their lives. The last time Five was stranded in time he fell in love with a mannequin! There is so much grey area here. They didn't mean to fall in love or hurt Diego. Bonus, the angst when they came back to reality was delicious. While we are on the subject, can we stop freaking out about the age difference please? Remember technically they were all born on the same day. It's only because of their time-traveling selves that Five is like 70 in a 26/27 year old body, and Lila is likely in her early 40s by the end of their train adventure. We have to suspend disbelief a little here. Even though mentally and physically they have quite big age gaps, they are still, in a way, each other's peers. In the end I don't think it destroyed their characters and it is kind of par for the course in this messed up family of trauma and dysfunction. (For my mutuals and followers, I will be reblogging some Five x Lila content soon. Sorry if that is a no for you. You've been warned!)

Handle It Together (ao3) - Westgate (Harkpad) clint/laura G, 4k

[or, Peter comes to the Barton farm.]
She's My Cherry Pie (ao3) - sheis-theslayer (Perididdle) clint/laura/natasha E, 3k

But Natasha Romanoff never listens.
til the clocks run down (ao3) - andibeth82 clint/laura/natasha M, 257k
Summary: "I think I do love her."
The words don’t shock her -- not really, not when she lets herself think about it. She does believe that Clint hadn't been sure about how deep his feelings for Natasha went the first time he admitted his attraction to her. But Laura would have been a fool to believe there wasn’t something more developing, especially after being around them in the few times they’d visited together since Clint’s confession. It had been easy to tell how their partnership was becoming comfortable, a relationship as worn and cozy as the one Laura’s built for herself with the man she’s loved for almost eight years.
[the beginning, the middle, and the journey home]
Wanda and the Bartons (ao3) - marvelaosdc1620 clint/laura T, 47k

I know Diego did not gave her the bracelet, that she took it after he left it on the table. I literally wrote that a mother should not stay in a marriage just because it's "normal" to give everything up after you became a mother, that is not okay. No person is a mother and wife first and your own person second, if even, is not a life anybody should live. I want Lila to be happy, no person should ever be unhappy in a relationship. Never! My headcanon is that Lila would have struggled to decide what to do next in her marriage and with her relationship with Five if the Cleanse had not erased them. For me Lila and Five are the endgame. They are actually ment to be their one. @elenajones23 I am sorry that I reacted that strong, I am terrible with understanding tones in text withouth emotes/smileys. Thank you for responding this fast to my feedback! 💜

Now, more seriously, if I'm able:
One of the first scenes of the trailer, i thought it may be the beginning, but Five is wearing the suit, which is probably the endgame outfit. And Lila is there. This is probably the moment Five realizes they fucked up... But in the other take he says they only have five or four days. So... Between episodes 3 and 5? Does anyone got theories??
So, again, they are fighting the clock here. And, again, Five only has a week. Which adds to the point a lot of us make: Five is having a really fucked up month.
Also, the little doggy 🥺
Theory: Here, it's coincidentally all three Commission. Which makes me think that maybe they will have an encounter with someone from the Commission (because it would be very odd if no one came to look at this mess of crap) and that will lead to, and explain, this scene:
This one is very interesting because this whole scene is basically Klaus and Spirits. If you see my other posts, you'll see i make a huge deal of his foot not touching the ground and i think it has shit to do with these ghosts. Not to mention he has a little red light and he looks terrified.
End of theory post. I barely had any anyways.

Chapter #1: Christmas Vacation
“Hey,” Laura greeted idly as she walked into their bedroom, an appreciative smile pulling at her lips at the sight of him, before realizing he probably couldn’t hear her.
Clint was sitting cross-legged on their bed, cleaning his hearing aid. He was wearing loose fitting flannel pajama pants and a tight t-shirt that left little to the imagination. His short spiky hair, still damp from his shower, was sticking up in all directions. Even pushing fifty—No, she reminded herself, fifty-four. Damn, if she still didn’t struggle to wrap her mind around the fact that she’d lost five years of his life.—he was still sexy as hell. Perhaps even more so, with his muscular chest and chiseled abs, and those biceps. God, but she loved those biceps.
She was wondering how long she could get away with standing there, leaning against the door jamb, admiring the view, when he asked without looking up from his task. “You coming in or are you going to stand there ogling me all night?”
Laura smiled as she rolled her eyes and pushed herself off the door frame. She should have figured that even with his head down and his guard lowered, Hawkeye would have spotted her long before she reached the threshold. Stepping into the room, she didn’t bother to answer aloud. Without his hearing aid, he could hear enough to know she was speaking, but the words would be indecipherable. So, she let her actions speak for her as she took up residence at the foot of the bed.
“Everyone down for the count?” he asked, glancing up as he scrubbed lightly at the buttons on the faceplate with the small bristle brush that was part of his cleaning kit.
Laura nodded, waiting until he was looking at her before attempting to sign. “Nate’s asleep,” she told him, muttering the words to herself as she concentrated on her hand motions. “Coop and Lila in bed. Lights off in 30 minutes.”
Their ASL was slow and choppy and they resorted to finger-spelling more often than she’d like to admit, but they were making progress. They were to the point that, after almost a year of taking classes once a week and the smattering of practice they did at home (dinner on Wednesday was their designated ASL practice), they could hold a simple conversation. Nothing fancy, but it got the job done, allowing for communication in the rare instances when Clint wasn’t using his hearing aid or when their environment rendered it ineffective.
“I’ll check on them before we turn in,” he offered, as he finished changing the earwax trap. Picking up the drying jar, he hesitated, glancing between her and his hearing aid, apparently trying to decide if he should put the thing back in or put it away for the night.
“We should practice,” she gently prodded.
“Yeah, I know,” he muttered begrudgingly, before slipping the small device into the drying jar and setting it on his bedside table.

That Patch died. Lila is the best and I’m glad she and Diego are endgame but Patch didn’t deserve that. Also I feel like she would be the perfect straight man (woman?) to the e Hargreeves’ shenanigans.
That no one really reacted to Five coming back. Like I know they’re emotionally unavailable but that’s your brother who went missing at 13. I can’t stand that everyone just left after the funeral. And that Ben never mentions 5 one time.
That no one goes to find V after they find Harold’s body. Like they find him murdered next to bloody tub and V is missing and Five makes a fancy drink and returns Delores? What?
I actually like the Klaus plot line even though it’s tragic and it’s a huge catalyst for him getting sober. Maybe he could save Dave/be able to summon him?
Luther and Allison. I just don’t like that plot.
I’m going to assume the Handler didn’t actually want anyone dead. It’s the only explanation for sending in baseline goons first and then giving Hazel and Cha Cha literally no information.
S2
Five should eat AJ. Or he can stay alive and keep being an antagonist. His character just amuses me.
The Old Five plot is fun but opens too many questions. Like are their separate timelines in this universe? I feel like it kinda breaks how we understand time travel works. Also Luther is a jerk for considering offing any Five. Also, why didn’t they just wait until Old Five left and pick up the briefcase then? The idea has merit but needs an overhaul.
I know it’s for the good of the timeline but I’d love to have Ray in the cast! And he has so meet the rest of the family.
Elliot is adorable and shouldn’t die.
The Commission needs to be smarter. Like what were the Swedes even doing? They didn’t attack anyone until Five showed up so were they trying to ensure the apocalypse?. They only attacked each sibling like once? Why did they keep changing targets? And shouldn’t they want to help them get out of the timeline? The Commission wants the apocalypse in 2019. Not 1963? With the infinite switchboard, I also feel the agents should be better informed.
I also didn’t like how positive most of the Commission was shown to be but that’s not really a plot point.
I’m kinda eh about the amnesia plot. Like V reacting to all the madness that is their lives were some of my favorite parts but also it kinda side stepped a lot of the fallout from S1 finale.
I do love the show. I promise. And S2 is probably my favorite even if this list doesn’t seem to show it!
What do you guys hate about S1-S2 of TUA and what do you think could have made things better?
Aka, I’m taking your suggestions and placing them in Butterfly effect :)

Hi, I've been stalking your blog for a while and just wanted to say: 1. Your feelings on Marvel are completely correct. 2. I wish we'd gotten some Handler in S3, but not as a back-from-the-dead again, maybe in Lila or Five flashbacks? 3. Your pinned list of fanfics is not at all too long. In fact, I wish it was longer. Okay, bye!
Hello, welcome, honored for the stalk, which something you can only say on tumblr :)
Thank you. It's such a disappointment and frustration how shit Marvel is now. And I def have friends who still think of me as the "Marvel Person" and it's like no, stop. Don't associate that with me anymore, I'm pretentious and edgy about it now, let me tell you how much I hated Infinity War and Endgame and don't even get me started on Tom Holland's Spiderman (Tom Holland is a fine Peter Parker but I Hate the writing and character choices for him). Not to ramble, but I was having that rant with a friend a while ago and they had the audacity to tell me I would have liked them more if I'd seen all the movies and my dude I fucking did that's how I knew they were bad lmao. I try not to shit too hard on people who like them still because I also don't want to be That Asshole but woof. Altho I have actual moral high ground now with how they treat VFX artists so...
You are absolutely correct, some choice Handler flashbacks would have been welcomed and allowed. Excellent call.
Oh good :) Wish it was longer... I do have three more fics now that are not on that post. Longer it can be!
#thanks for dropping in!#ask response#tbh the biggest crime marvel has committed against me Personally is fucking professor hulk#making me look at that with my only pair of eyeballs for 3 hours#and they committed to it! he's still professor hulk! the worst! bring back normal mark ruffalo i like him!#anti mcu

Green Thumb
Part 19
Request: Yes or No
In the last few chaps two years have passed, in this one three have passed so the five year gap is overrrr. Endgame is three goddamn hours longgg. I'm sorry this one feels short. I just hate doing more than one or two timeskips
~
"I'll visit soon, Sarah. Tell the boys I said hi, alright?" You smiled softly, saying bye to Sarah before hanging up. You sighed softly, putting your phone down. You buried your face in your hands, sighing heavily. You heard your phone buzz, looking at the text on screen.
Starks Bitch Ass
You still coming for dinner?
You picked up the phone, going to answer Tony before you got another text. You furrowed your brows, clicking on it.
Nat
I need your help
(Y/N)
With?
Nat
You know
You frowned, gaze lifting to the picture of the Barton family, your family. You sighed again, eyes shutting briefly. The last time you had seen Clint had been three years ago.
Nat
And also with Stark
Nat
We're outside
You scoffed, standing up and walking to the front door. You watched the car stop, dust and dirt flying up behind it. You went down the steps, approaching the car. You saw Steve driving, Natasha in the passenger seat.
"How you been, (Y/N)?" Steve asked, unlocking the doors.
"Shitty." You got in the back, glancing at Scott.
"I thought you were dead."
"I thought you were like fifteen last time I saw you." Scott replied, looking you over. You cocked a brow, putting on a seatbelt.
"So.. What do you need me for?" You asked, brows furrowing.
"Convincing Tony of time travel." Natasha answered as Steve began to drive. You stared at her, confusion evident in her face. Scott noticed, clearing his throat.
"Okay, so-"
"If it has to do with science or math, I don't want to hear about it. I'll only get a headache." You waved him off, leaning back against the seat and shutting your eyes. You took a nap on the drive, waking up when the car came to a stop. You yawned, getting out of the car and walking towards the the lodge.
"Momo!" You called, smiling softly. Morgan's eyes lit up, wiggling in her dads grip. Tony set her down, watching her quickly run over to you. You chuckled, picking her up.
"Hey, Momo. Missed me?" You asked with a gentle smile. Tony turned and headed into the lodge.
"We didn't get to finish our story." Morgan said, pouting. You chuckled, watching Tony bring out a tray with drinks. The others stood at the porch, explaining their idea to Tony.
"And you came along because..?" Tony turned to look at you after you convinced Morgan to head inside while the adults talked. You took a seat, shrugging lightly.
"Had nothing better to do." You replied. You slightly spaced out as they spoke about science stuff, taking the drink Tony offered. You looked at the nature around the area, eyes squinting slightly.
"Are you gonna entertain this, (Y/N)?" Tony questioned, turning to look at you. You looked back at him.
"Wouldn't hurt to try, Tony." You said softly. Tony stayed silent, sighing through his nose. He turned his head when Morgan came running out of the lodge, climbing onto her dads lap.
"Mommy said to come save you." Morgan said. Tony held her, standing up as he looked at everyone. His gaze settled on you.
"Will you be joining us for dinner?" He asked, brows raising slightly. You licked your lips.
"Yeah, I suppose so." You nodded, standing up and smiling softly at Morgan. Tony nodded, walking inside. You looked at Natasha.
"Let me know when you find out where he is." You told her. Natasha understood, nodding. You followed Tony into the lodge.
"Tony-"
"You were brought along to convince me. I knew it." Tony set Morgan down, facing you with his hands on his hips. You gave a small nod.
"Yeah, I was. I wanted to see you as well. Nat wants to find Clint." You told him gently. Tonys' gaze softened, nodding. He had Morgan go to Pepper before sitting down on the couch.
"You ready?" He asked gently. You sat on the couch, grabbing a pillow a gently hugging it. You stayed silent, staring at the floor.
"I don't know. I.. I don't know if I'll punch him or scream at him when I see his face."
"I wouldn't blame you. I'll punch him next time I see him."
"Tony." You shot him a look, raising your brows. Tony shrugged, leaning back in the couch. You watched him, shifted and sitting criss cross.
"So, the.. Time heist-"
"Is the stupidest idea I've ever heard."
"Can you at least give it a try? Stop being a Negative Nancy, that's my job." You gently kicked his leg.
"If his theory even works.. Who's to say we can snap them back? What if we make things worse? Make that fifty percent into twenty percent?" Tony questioned. You could understand his concerns. He had a kid to worry about.
"I know, Tony.. Could you at least.. Think it over? Do some small tests?" You asked softly. Tony stayed silent, thinking it over. He took in a deep breath, rolling his eyes when he noticed your puppy eyes.
"Fine! Fine, I'll have F.R.I.D.A.Y run over some tests after dinner."
"Thank you."
~~~~~~~~~~
"You think you're up to this?" Natasha asked softly as the jet neared Tokyo. You nodded, watching the city lights come into view.
"Yeah, of course." You replied softly, slight nerves bubbling in your stomach. Natasha gently grabbed your hand, giving it a light squeeze. You gave her a small smile. Natasha landed the jet in an empty parking lot, getting out. Natasha took out an umbrella, wrapping an arm around you to keep you under it. You and Natasha followed the sound of gunshots, hearing them ease. You slowed down, watching Clint kill a man. You swallowed.
"You shouldn't be here." Clint said. Hearing his voice made your jaw clench.
"Neither should you." Natasha replied, watching him. Clint turned to face you and Natasha, features hard. His gaze softened when he saw you before he looked away.
"I have a job to do." Clint said, the water dripping down his face. You scoffed softly, stepping out from under the umbrella. You didn't mind the rain as you walked towards him. Clint looked at him, lips parting to speak but you didn't let him, slapping him as hard as you could. Clint stumbled back, fingers brushing over his reddening cheek.
"You had a job. You were supposed to be my dad! You left me to do what? Kill some guys?! I was drowning in my own fucking grief and where were you, Clint?! You missed out on 5 years of my life. Five years you'll never get back. How could you call yourself my dad and then abandon me when shit gets hard? I lost Laura too. I lost Lila, Nathaniel, and Cooper too. Then, I lost you and you left by choice." You stared at him, vision blurry. The tears mixed with the rain.
"Tony fucking Stark was there for me when you weren't. The selfish asshole himself.. Was a better father figure than you were." You breathed out, sniffling.
"(Y/N)-"
"These men dying won't change shit but what we're trying to do might. If not for me, do it for the kids. For a chance of seeing them again." You stared at him. The old feeling of safety you used to get from him had disappeared.
"There's a chance we can get them back. If we do... Things won't go back to normal. You easily abandoned me and I can't forgive that. I'll never forgive that. For three fucking years.. You never bothered getting in contact, never bothered checking in, never bothered being a father. You wouldn't have left if I was Cooper. You wouldn't have left if I was Lila. You proved it." You took in a deep breath.
"I was in pain-"
"And I wasn't?!" You snapped, chest heaving. You noticed you didn't feel the rain anymore, seeing that the rain drops had stopped mid air. You took in a deep breath like Tony had taught you, feeling the rain resume before it eventually eased and stopped completely.
"Are you gonna help the team?" You asked, studying his face. Clint gave a silent nod, gaze flickering back to Natasha. You turned around, opening your palm and feeling the water on your clothes and body move towards your hand. The water mixed together, making a large water bubble. You let it drop to the ground as you walked back towards the jet. You entered, getting in the pilots seat and buckling in. You were incredibly angry but you didn't want to accidentally cause a tsunami so you focused on your breathing. You set the course as Clint and Natasha quietly spoke. You stared at the night sky, watching the clouds pass by. You called Steve, watching the blue screen pop up with his face
"We got Clint, Cap. We're heading back now."
"Copy that." Steve replied, nodding before his gaze shifted onto the two behind you.
"How have you been, Clint?" Steve asked.
"Never better." Clint answered, sighing softly. You frowned, focusing on the clouds as the jet flew back to the facility. Steve and Clint caught up until Steve hung up, leaving the jet in silence.
"Did Bruce have any luck with Thor?" You asked, glancing back at Natasha. Natasha nodded, gently toying with her braid.
"Yeah, he mentioned it was a bit tough to see him. Thor wasn't himself." Natasha stood, approaching the front and placing a hand on the chair. You hummed softly. You felt your phone vibrate, taking it out and seeing Peppers contact. You answered the call.
"Yeah?"
"Morgan wants you to tell her a bed time story. She's sad you didn't have time the other day." Pepper explained in a slightly apologetic tone. You smiled, chuckling softly.
"Yeah, okay."
"(Y/N)?" You heard Morgan's soft voice, immediately feeling relaxed.
"Hey, Momo." You cooed, making sure the jet was on auto pilot before you leaned back in your seat.
"What story do you want today?"
Five times Clint insists it’s not Natasha (plus one time he has to tell Laura it is)
A continuation of Five signs Lila Barton misses (plus one she notices)
Rating: G Word count: 5946 Endgame: Clint/Natasha
one
2005
He doesn’t tell her he’s bringing a house guest and she tries not to act too surprised when he turns up with a petite redhead in skin-tight jeans and leather jacket.
“Hey,” He greets her with a kiss to the cheek before swooping Cooper out of her arms. “This is Natasha, the defecting Russian I told you about?” He peppered Cooper’s face with kisses and the baby squirmed uncomfortably.
He had told her about the defecting Russian agent. The defecting Russian agent was why he couldn’t make it to her parents’ place for Thanksgiving. She had shrugged. It all sounded pretty complicated with the intelligence exchange and naturalisation process. She hadn’t been quite clear what Clint’s role in the whole thing had been. She had assumed it had been in a babysitting/supervision capacity. She had also assumed the defecting Russian agent would never be turning up on her doorstep or be quite so… youthful?
“I told you, he’s cute right?” Clint was holding Cooper out to Natasha for inspection.
Cooper whined and the young Russian looked a little uncomfortable. “Very cute,” she agreed. Cooper whined louder and Clint passed him back to Laura and she noticed how he didn’t quite meet her eyes as Cooper transferred between them.
“Mommy’s boy,” he gave the growing hairs on his head a little ruffle. “Come, I’ll show you the guest room.” He takes Natasha’s bag and jerks his head towards the staircase.
“Clint, I’m not sure-” She was going to say she wasn’t sure what state the guest bedroom was in. She had been home alone with Cooper for months and while things had lightened up a little around the three-month mark, when he had headed off to Europe on the mission that had led to finding the defecting Russian agent, she didn’t exactly have time to look after Cooper single handedly and keep the house in order.
Clint was up the stairs and out of sight before she could finish the sentence.
“It’s lovely to meet you,” Natasha offered her hand to Laura and awkwardly shifting Cooper to her hip she managed to take it.
“I’m Laura,” she smiled and felt a little reassured by the way Natasha returned her smile. It was easy, friendly.
“Clint’s told me so much about you,” Natasha’s smile grew. “And about Cooper,” she grinned down at the baby on her hip, who was now offering her a gummy smile. “He really is gorgeous, isn’t he?”
“I like to think so,” Laura looked down at Cooper as she bounced him on her hip a little.
“You’re lucky he takes after you and not Clint,” Natasha pulled an even bigger smile and was rewarded with a giggle and drool from Cooper.
“I heard that,” Clint called from the top of the stairs. “You want to see your room or not?
Ok, the MCU Barton kids' ages stress me out
In AoU, circa 2015, Lila is like six and Nathan isn't even born yet (in the vid Natasha receives of him later he's like five months old right? At least? That's no newborn).
But SUDDENLY in Endgame circa 2018, Lila has aged up ten frickin yrs and Nathan is like four years old (Cooper is played by the same actor in both films, so his age is fine).
And Now In The Hawkeye Trailer Lila is like 18yo and Nathan is like 7yo? Based on Wandavision and tfatws, I'm assuming Hawkeye takes place within the year after Endgame, i.e. 2024-2025.
The Barton kids lost five years, they couldn't age, so who the hell is casting these older kids??
