The Reason ~A Five Hargreeves/Female Reader Insert request (Complete)
Rated Mature for Explicit Sexual Content (20k word one-shot with 10 fast paced chapters)
Anonymous asked:
Please just give me the smuttiest enemies to friends to lovers, with some breeding kink PLEASEEE đ§ââď¸đđť
KayBreezy's reply: Okay. đ Done. See Below to read this wild adventure.
~Tags and Warnings: feral Five, soft Five angst, family fluff, flirting, humor, rough sex, story with plenty of smutty smut but it needs to build to get there so be patient and it will pay off, Five being wonderful and awful, smart female reader insert, Diego is a bomb ass bro, canon compliant plus extra addressing of shit they didn't bother to and I wish they would have, breeding kink, enemies-to friends-to lovers, some tags left off to keep you on your toes, season 5 TUA
~Very Important Note: DUE TO SPOILERS, DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVEN'T WATCHED S4 This story starts where season 4 ends and reads like a season 5 start. It is canon compliant, letting you take what we were left with on the show, DISREGARDING the controversial sexual relationship that happened, or not. That's the big thing with this one. This is written so the reader can interpret that stuff as they want to. There are only two mentions in this that even come remotely close into that territory and those parts can also be looked at as Five simply feeling awful and not because that even happened. He has plenty of other reason for his sadness, why they felt the need to give him more and end them all, I will never know. đ I personally have always seen a special bond with Five and Lila, only not at all the way it played out in the show, and we will see some of my version of their admiration of each other in this one, and I did it to honor both these characters I love. It is also important to say, this is in no way written in a way that is triggering for those who hated what happened on the show. This is written to give them all something better. That was my point, and to try to do this request some justice. â¤ď¸I hope you enjoy. Sending peace and love to all the beautiful TUA/FIVE fans.
THE REASON
Chapter one: The Beginning of the End
Slipping away, there was no reason to fight anymore.
Sensations Five couldnât put into words overwhelming him, the glowing pulsation of The Cleanse began to cover them, first trapping their feet, then building up around their legs with terrifying speed.
As the pressure pushed at his layers of clothing, naturally, panic set in.
His mind screamed, DO SOMETHING!!!
He would have laughed at the irony along with his family if it wasnât all so awful. Here they were cracking jokes when they were about to die, and there he was, the massive lump of guilt in his throat trying to kill him quicker than the looming mass of elemental alien goo.
Fiveâs entire life, heâd thought he was the strong one, that he could save them, but boy had he been wrong.
Even before this shit storm splattered the fan, he knew he should have been starting over, but heâd done very little in the way of living, or being there for any of them.
He pretended he was fine, but he wasnât.
He was alone, like he always was, but he was too stubborn to admit how empty his life was.
Instead, he blocked all that out by playing CIA agent, foolishly not noticing that the people whoâd hired him were in on all this.
Then, when it all went from bad to worse, Five ran from it. Once with Lila as they traveled the train to insanity together, and then again after that, when theyâd finally made it back and he realized they couldnât beat the horrible death blob Ben and Jennifer had become.
It took a lifetime to learn it, but there was no running from this, or the unforgivable things heâd done only to end up with nothing.
Heart sinking to unfathomable depths of despair, unable to look at their faces, or the thing consuming them, Five looked to the ceiling instead. Through the highest windows of what in another time had been their childhood home, the world outside was righting itself, the fire of rebirth was hard at work, correcting things the right way this time.
There was no reason for his suffering.
No reason for any of this.
His breath catching in his throat, the mass of destruction that was swallowing them crept up Fiveâs neck, seeping under his sweat drenched collar.
Shutting his eyes to block out the horror of what was happening, he forced himself to think about why this was the only way out.
âWhat shattered the timeline?â heâd asked the Five that greeted him at the interdimensional deli filled with different versions of him.
âNot what. Who,â his cocky doppelgänger replied while pushing a stray piece of hair out of his face.
They were 145,142 times trying to stop the apocalypse, doomed to save or destroy the world, over and over⌠ad infinitum.
This would go on forever. Those crazy bastards werenât willing to rise above their own wants and needs, but he was.
Eliminate the Marigold by ending all of them, and you get no more cycle of apocalyptic destruction. Simple as that.
Despite Fiveâs steadfast acceptance of this fact, a rush of air crawled out of his gaped mouth, the sound of it gut-wrenchingly pathetic even to his own ears. His lower lip trembled as The Cleanse reached his chin. He jerked his head higher to get away from it, but it was no good.
He felt Lila squeeze his hand. He squeezed back, a tear slipping down his cheek, immediately eaten away by the sludgy mass burying them.
Iâm sorry.
He was, for everything, but he couldnât say it, not anymore. He couldnât even breathe.
The taste of death covered his lips, filling his nostrils. A familiar crackle of static energy zipped up and down his spine even though he hadnât summoned it, like his powers had life of their own, begging him to stop this.
Five opened his eyes one last time, a spike of adrenaline needlessly alerting him to the fact that he was about to suffocate from the disgusting booger-like substance pushing into his mouth.
Silently crying out, The Cleanse choked off his airway.
His body, insistent on his need to breathe, helplessly drew in the otherworldly gunk.
He was drowning.
He began to thrash.
Above, ash began to fall from the ceiling. Five felt the same desperation he had a lifetime ago while standing outside the burning gates of his home.
Like then, all he could think about was finding a way back to save them.Â
Just before the wave of glimmering slime slipped over Fiveâs head, a shadowed figure moved into his view on the second-floor balcony. The person propped their elbows on the railing. Extending their left hand, they began dangling a pocket watch, slowly swinging it back and forth on its silver chain.
As if dying wasnât already shaking Five to the core, the ornately engraved disk they had looked exactly like a pocket watch he kept in a basket of broken timepieces back in his boyhood bedroom at the original Umbrella Academy.
He collected those discarded pieces of junk, trying to make their fragile parts work again because he saw something of himself in their busted balance springs and wheels, beaten and used, pushed aside, never able to prove to a dad that didnât love him that he was good enough.
Reginald was right, he wasnât.
âDonât be so hard on yourself,â the young stranger said, as if reading Fiveâs thoughts. He angled his face into the light, the pouted line of his lips pulling to the side, mimicking one of Five's smiles almost perfectly. âFor all this to work out, you had to get here.â
A faint swirl of blue energy lit up the boyâs hands as the floor rumbled under their feet. Chunks of the roof fell, but their pale green eyes wrinkled at the corners even more, not a hint of fear in them.
âIâd do this one for you, but I canât,â he furthered. âAs you always told me, when it comes to time travel, you donât mess with the loops, and this is one hell of a temporal causality loop you set up.â
The dimple in the boyâs cheek deepened.
âNo, you. No, me,â he calmly explained. âAnd that would mean this conversation wouldnât be happening, resulting in you letting this end and game over for us.â
Pulling the old pocket watch back up, the boy popped it open, checking the time before he looked back down at Five through the mess of sun-kissed hair falling over his eyes.
âYou know what to do. Itâs time, Dad.â
He dropped the watch, the glint of metal sailing down into the abyss.
Lack of oxygen about to make him lose consciousness, The Cleanse covered Fiveâs shock filled eyes.
Getting crushed, he no longer felt the hands that had been holding his.
They were all gone.
As true terror set in, the last of the boyâs words echoed in his mind.
Itâs time, DadâŚ
Chapter Two: Walk in the Park
Not even aware he was doing it at first, Five pulled at that undefinable feeling inside him that let him open doors no one else could. Within a second, the strings of time gave in to his demand, illuminating the darkness.
An explosion of violent light burst outwards, the force of it ripping his skin inside out, or it felt that way. At that point, Five wasnât sure if he was still intact, or not. All he knew was, heâd given everything he had left, opening one final portal, not even accounting for the destination.
Flung into a tornado of time and space knitting itself back together into the one true timeline, Five landed in the only place he could.
Coming down fast, blindly flailing, he slammed down on top of a picnic table, sending the food airborne that Lilaâs parents had just laid out for lunch.
Face smashed into what he was pretty sure had been a cake, Five let out a whimpered groan.
Fresh air ruffled his frosting coated hair, the white sugar standing out in stark contrast to his chocolate-colored strands.
Untwisting his legs, his dress shoe accidentally knocked into Claireâs can of orange soda, tipping it over. The fizzy mess started pouring out all over Lilaâs feet as she glared at him.
Five rapidly blinked his eyes, still not sure if what he was seeing was real.
Everything was so bright, a canopy of green and blue.
Orange and yellow marigolds filled the landscaped gardens.
Upbeat music played somewhere in the distance.
âWhat do you know, the flying fart squirrel decided to join us after all,â Lila dryly noted as she wiped a piece of potato salad off her forehead, flicking it at Diego.
Unfazed by Fiveâs fumbled landing, Diego picked the mayo covered slop off his shirt, sticking it in his mouth as he rolled his eyes at her. âCome, on babe. Fivvv nev-lets us dow. I nn-ew-he-be-here,â he mumbled while reaching out to lend him a helping hand.
Once on his feet, Five swayed, but Diego held on, keeping him steady as he took in the full extent of his shell-shocked appearance. âRough day, old man?â he asked, a look of worry bending his silly dad-stash into a frown.
âYou could say that,â Five croaked.
He reached up, his trembling fingers brushing the ghost of stubble darkening his jaw.
âThank God Iâm not twelve years old again,â he breathed.
Diego and Lila looked at each other, eyes wide.
âFiveâŚ?â Diego questioned. âSince you still canât calculate your decades long jumps worth a shit, why donât you just use one of your briefcases to commute.â
âUncle Five is here!â Grace shouted, abandoning the game of frisbee she was playing with Luther and Sloane. Bolting over, her arms flung around Fiveâs waist. âDid you bring me anything?â she asked, beaming up at him.
Five was speechless.
Her twin siblings screeched as they rolled around on a fuzzy blanket filled with toys. Behind them, camped out on the grass, or horsing around not far away, Five saw his entire family, and all the people from their past that they had loved and lost.
A few yards away, Dave was sitting with his back against a tree, Klaus lying next to him with his head in his lap.
Eudora, Sissy, little Harlan, Elliot, Ray, Ben and JenniferâŚ
Five kept counting.
To his left, Agnes and Hazel walked by, bird watcher guide in hand.
Even the Sparrows' faces dotted the crowded scene, the one Five didnât recognize with blue hair oddly reminiscent of a non-cube version of Christopher.
âHoly shit,â he gasped.
With the buzz of the older kids laughing at their funny Uncle Five and his ruined suit, and the rest of his family looking at him like he needed to be locked up, the fear that everyone close to him was about to be wiped off the face of the Earth hadnât even come close to wearing off. And that feeling only got worse when he spotted The Handler sitting on a nearby park bench.
Starting to walk towards her, he reached into his inside jacket pocket to pull out his CIA issued handgun, but it wasnât there.
Getting nothing but a handful of Jello, Five ran right into Herb. In a domino effect, the smaller statured man started teetering backwards.
âYouch!â you cried as his heel dug into your opened toed dress shoe.
Everything you were holding slipped out of your hands as they flung out to break your fall.
Before hitting the dirt, your skirt flew up, giving everyone a show.
Looking about as thrown as you, Five looked down at the Temps Commission insignia on the journal you dropped, then the pocket watch that had fallen next to it.
He cursed.
Clenching his hands so hard it looked like he might hurt himself, he started shaking his head side to side. âWhere is he?â he growled.
âWho?â you fired back at him, trying to get up.
âThat kid!â
âWhat kid?â
Before Herb could say anything to add to your confused reply or find his handy-dandy Commission issued time stopper, Five took off again.
Scrambling to your feet, you reached out to catch his arm. He swung around with a snarl and shoved you to the ground again, then he blinked away, reappearing right behind The Handler, ready to choke her with his bare hands, the only thing stopping him being the lady coming past, pushing a baby stroller.
Seeing the real Graceâs smiling face, so much like that of his robot mother, Five looked even more manic.
âStop!â Herb frantically cried out, realizing that something was off more than Five lacking any spatial awareness.
Five didnât stop, and neither did you, clumsily coming after him, your dress shoes slipping on the grass, you yelled, âIf you do this, youâre going to regret it!â
To your relief. Five lowered his hands.
You came to a stop in front of the Handler, your hands coming to your knees as you tried to catch your breath. She looked from you, to the crazed young man behind her.
She lowered her cell phone. âCan I help you?â
âNo. Sorry,â you huffed, quickly storming around the park bench to take Five by the back of his food covered suit jacket.
âShe doesnât know who you are!â you whisper yelled at him as you towed him away from her. âWhat in the world are you thinking?â
Five angrily narrowed his eyes at you.
âThis was your plan!â you barked, to which he equally angrily jerked his shoulder away from your hand.
Apparently, he wasnât going to let you corral him back towards Herb, but he wasnât opposed to stomping over there himself, which was fine by you, so long as he did, and started to calm his cake-covered ass down.
âGlad to have you back,â Herb nervously chuckled once Five was in earshot. âSorry about that.â He glanced at The Handler who was happily chatting away on her cell phone again. âIâm sure some of this is still hard for you, but everyone affected by this needed to be in close proximity to perform all the alternations you wanted. This picnic took some time for us to set up, but we got it done. As far as they know, you all have been back here for weeks and we had nothing to do with this party.â
Fiveâs cold gaze didnât falter.
After picking up the items he made you drop, you handed him his journal, the one that said to give it to him as soon as he arrived.
âI donât want that,â he spat, refusing to take it from you.
âMaybe it would be better if we took this conversation back to The Commission,â Herb offered.
âLike hell it would,â Five snapped, âThere is no way I am going back to that shitshow of manipulative sadists.â
âYou are the leader of our shitshow of manipulative sadists,â you retorted.
Ignoring that and your offended expression, he came at you, a flash of light blinding you as he snatched the watch out of your hand. Reappearing a few yards away, he hissed, âWho are you and who gave you this!â
Now you were the one narrowing your eyes.
Introducing yourself, minus the usual extended hand in case he tried to bite it off, you said, âI serve as your Co-Chair, and the watch was left with your files that were given to me when I was hired. And⌠it is not broken anymore because I fixed it for you. Youâre welcome.â
âWhy would I hire you?â
âBecause you clearly needed my help,â you replied, your tone as acidic as his.
âYeah, right,â he barked, his wild eyes suddenly fixating on you in a very ungentlemanly way.
Realizing that when heâd flung you the second time, your shirt had come undone by a few more buttons than youâd normally allow, you crossed your arms over your chest, using his journal like a shield to protect your boobs from his glare. âLook,â you sniped back. âI get that for you, some of this might be a little confusing because youâve only been back for more than a few minutes real time, but for Herb and I, our day at the park had been much longer than that, stopping time over and over to correctly wipe and reset each of your family members you brought back. So⌠can we just get this thing moving?â
âYou better not touch my family,â Five warned.
âWith Optogenetics, cation-selective channel rhodopsin are used to excite neurons and inhibit neuronal activity, so touching isnât exactly how weâd say memory alteration works, but you already know that. You are the one that left the notes that led to me inventing the pain free process to do it. Why are you being so difficult?â you questioned.
âBecauseâŚâ he childishly seethed.
âBecause?â
âThatâs right,â he continued, his face contorting as his jaw muscles repeatedly tensed. âYou throwing out big words means nothing. Iâve been fed a lot of lines of bullshit over the years, and I have no reason to trust a bimbo whoâs wearing tiny pink underwear that would make a stripper blush! Or Herb! Or anyone that works at the place that ruined my life and millions of others!â
You smiled, and it wasn't the nice kind of smile. âName calling? Really?â
âThis has set up written all over it!â he yelled.
A lump of frosting fell off his head, landing on one of his expensive dress shoes. Fingers twitching at his sides, he was about to go ballistic.
In his notes spelling it out how this was going to go down, the Five of the future that hired you had written nothing about the possibility that the him now would have no clue what was going on, but it was clear he didnât. Fortunately, there were protocols to handle situations like this-his protocols.
âWe didnât ruin anyoneâs lives. That is the opposite of what we are about, but if you arenât willing to come back and talk about that, I guess we are done here,â you said, raising an unimpressed brow.
âSweetheart, I was done so long ago, you have no fucking idea.â
After condescendingly insulting you again, Five turned to check on his family.Â
None of them were concerned, and you knew they wouldnât be. The moment he walked away, their attention was back on entertaining the kids.
âDo you want to do it, or me,â you quietly asked Herb, who looked over at you, looking about as tired as youâd ever seen him.
âIâll lug this thing,â he sheepishly offered, picking up the huge Commission briefcase you used to get there.
You reached in your pocket, calling out to Diego. âHey, guys! Something came up. Five is needed back at the office.â
Five started to turn back, readying for a fight.
Sticking him in the neck with a fast-acting sedative before he could fully swing, his legs buckled at the knees.
âYou didnât jus-st-ffffah-kkkk," he slurred, his eyes rolling back in his head.
Chapter Three: The Founder
A line of drool running out of his mouth, Five flopped over the side of the settee he was passed out on. Groggily looking around from his new position on the hard marble floor, he saw the lights were dimmed and there was only the slightest bit of daylight on the horizon outside the heavily draped windows.
He had no idea how long heâd been out, but he knew where he was.
This was 1955 and these were the crown molded walls of AJ Carmichaelâs office, then The Handlerâs, but evidently this office wasnât either of theirs anymore because the polished plaque sitting on top of the old mahogany desk read otherwise.
âFive Hargreeves, Director⌠Well, Iâll be damned,â he breathed.
Getting to his feet, head spinning, he swallowed, his throat thick.
On the small side table next to him, he noticed the pocket watch heâd stolen back from you and a glass of water next to it with a pink post-it note stuck to it that read, Drink Me.
âYeah, right. Iâll probably shrink like Alice in Wonderland,â he grumbled, remembering how you stuck him in the neck with a syringe, at this point equating you to an evil version of the white rabbit, forcefully leading him back into a nightmare.
Running a hand through his hair, seeing no one there to ambush him, Five spotted his neatly polished shoes placed under the edge of the couch. There was also a fresh suit, with the addition of a pair socks and black briefs laying on one of the adjacent chairs.
Five looked down at the slumped blanket around his ankles, then his hands.
He still had on his undershirt and underwear, a pair exactly like the ones on the chair, but that was it. Heâd been cleaned up, no more frosting anywhere.
Kicking free of the slumped blanket at his feet, he stomped over to his desk, eyes on the journal laying there and the slightly smashed piece of cake that had another post-it note next to it that said, âOnce youâve had your nap time, and snack time is over, put your big-boy pants back on and read this over for me, please.â
Looking at the door, his expression soured even more.
Picking up the leather-bound book, he recalled that you said it was his, but he didnât remember it. Then again, this wasnât the first time heâd left something for himself to find later.
Shoving memories of the subway station out of his mind, Five opened it, his finger running along the date and time noted at the top of the first page. There was no denying heâd written it.
Slowly sitting down, his eyes moved along, reading the detailed directions explaining all the things you were supposed to do before he got there. Things like making sure certain people from his past only remembered what they needed to remember, and that meant for some, like his ex-supervisor, some remembered nothing.
For his family, their memories were more complicated because they were a part of things that needed to be remembered, but in clipping bits of time from their minds, he stated it would allow them the easiest transition.
Further diving into this new reality, Five read that many of the superpowered Hargreeves, including some of the Sparrows, worked for him and were involved in a new initiative of non-kill orders for all time corrective actions.
Theyâd been wiped. Just like you said. The device used to do it, one he told you to make, and it sounded a lot like the one Reginald used to erase the memories of how the original Ben died.
That happened. It all did. Five remembered it and his notes said the others would too- for the most part.
The past still happened because it had to, but that didnât mean everyone needed to be burdened with the heavier traumas of it. That idea was a core value stated in The Temps Commissionâs original doctrine, also written by him, conveniently there on the desk for him to go over.
All of it confirmed what you said. He was the Founder of The Commission; the same place that let him waste away in the apocalypse for forty years and then go through the rest of this crap. Apparently, that cruel joke didnât just come to fruition in the Sparrow timeline spin off.
It was madness.
Somehow, his family survived, powers intact. He got them out of there at the last second, with none of them aware that anything odd was happening when youâd come up to them at the park, waving your specially calibrated brain wave eraser in front of their smiling faces.
You were an invited guest to their event and so was Herb. They knew you and trusted you, just like he supposedly did, only he didnât.
Hearing a soft knock at the door, Five tensed.
âCome in.â
Herb timidly stepped inside, leaving the door ajar to the empty hallway. He lowered his chin and shook his head as if he already knew that what he was going to say was something Five wouldnât want to hear. âThat was a bumpy start,â he began. âWe didnât see that coming and we are so sorry about that. If we-â
âHow long have you known about this,â Five sharply cut in.
âAs youâve read, thatâs complicated,â he carefully replied.
âHerb,â Five sighed, his hand rubbing the worry line between his eyes. âAll I have ever wanted was for this to end, but I donât-"
Herb held up his hand stopping him. âI know you donât want this. We all know what youâve given to this place already, but we need you. With what you are capable of, your unique skill set makes you a perfect choice to run this organization.â
Herb paused, hoping Five understood that but he looked as unconvinced as before.
âThis doesnât have to be forever,â he tried. âThe board just wants reassurance, and with you at the helm, itâs clear that people here will feel more comfortable about this transition. We no longer focus on preventing complications from the other timelines breaking off because there is only one timeline now. You took care of that by allowing The Cleanse to happen. Now we are here to ensure someone is present in case anything like this threatens us again. This is a big change for everyone,â he clarified, as if Five didnât already grasp how big this was.
âAnd Reginald?â he quietly questioned, his troubled eyes pulling downward.
âGone with the Cleanse,â you answered, coming into his office, âbut as far as anyone else knows, he died years ago. You were there to spread his ashes. Many things are the same as before, but with the addition of the things that changed during the last five years you were gone, only you do not work for the CIA, even if thatâs the cover we are using.â
You strolled over, sitting down next to Herb.
âThe element your fatherâs wife inadvertently created as a byproduct of producing the thing they called âmarigoldâ is also gone. The marigold is still in all of you,â you furthered.
âThat alien was not my dad,â Five tartly retorted, âand your presence here is not needed.â
When you didnât move, he pointed to the door.
You crossed your legs, eyeing Five wearily. Putting a hand on your friendâs shoulder, you said, âYou can head home, Herb. You havenât slept in days.â
He smiled. âNeither have you.â He looked to Five, tiredly getting up. âPlease listen. Sheâs smart. That is why you hired her.âÂ
Fiveâs brows furrowed as he took in the weight of what Herb said. He looked down at his lap, but the second the older looking man left the room, he looked back up, eyeing you with the same contempt. âNo syringe?â he coldly dangled.
âNo pants?â you countered.
He cocked his chin. âWhy bother? You already violated me while I was unconscious. I figured this way if you came at me again; thereâd be less in the way if you really wanted to go hard stomping on my dick.â
âYou are the only one here being combative, but if you want me to stomp on your dick, keep it up, I will, but Iâd much rather finish this debriefing, filling you in on anything else you might not recall, which sounds like everything you did to get here from this point on.â
âTime loops are a bitch, and you areâŚâ He didnât finish, instead he picked up his fork, putting his focus on stabbing his piece of cake into even more of a disaster.
âYou donât like me. Got it loud and clear,â you said, âbut after meeting you, I must admit, I donât like you either. Before this, I admired you, but you are nothing like the person I thought you were based on all the great things I read in your files.â
âWell⌠Most things look better on paper,â he sneered.
âLook⌠How about I just do what I am here to do, and you do the same?â you offered. âCut the lines of bullshit you hate so much? Because thatâs what this pissing match is. Waste of time bullshit.â
âFine.â
âAs I was about to say,â you started again, laying out your sheets of chemical equations for him to follow as you explained. âFor Reginaldâs dearly departed wife, in making the one element that also gave a fast track to your births, and then the other not so nice one Jennifer got stuck with, she essentially shot a machine gun at a needle in a haystack, but the bullet and needle didnât fuse together completely, and you just witnessed the ricochetted result of that when they did finally fuse with Ben and Jennifer getting together, the bad part of that synthetic reaction vanishing forever in a timeline that is no more. Story done.â
âSo, you are saying we werenât the cause of all this?â he asked, still not believing it.
âNo,â you said. âAbigailâs bad science was and that really wasnât that hard to figure out. It only took me a few days once I was given the top-secret files you left behind for Herb to find in your Paradox Proof bunker.â
âThatâs impossible. Iâm the only one that can get in there,â Five argued.
âNot exactly,â you calmly disagreed. âAfter Dallas, when Herb was holding the temporary position of Chairmen of the Board, he gained access to many interesting things you hide around here, including a glass eye you had made that was a replica of yours.â
âThe retinal scan,â Five murmured under his breath.
âYes. You were very busy at some point in the future, and lucky us, everything you did paid off.â
Saying nothing, Five didnât look like he felt lucky, but when he didnât question you more about the bunker, you moved on.
âAnother thing you probably donât remember figuring out, is that when it comes to thinking you were all only born because of the release of the Marigold on our planet, that isnât true. You all would have been born regardless. All your mothers were already pregnant, only days along and none knew it yet. You all had fathers and mothers, just like the rest of us, only with you, the second that alien dusting of orange entered our atmosphere, it needed to find a host and you were it, the perfect jump off point for a miracle.â
âThe Umbrella Academy?â he asked, dismissing your explanation about his parents, like it didnât matter that he wasnât just alive because of aliens playing God.
âIt happened. You were all acquired by Reginald, same as before,â you continued. âThe world knows about most of you like they always did, and they are aware youâre back, the details of your disappearance understood to be a complication due to your ability to spatially jump. The running story is you were frozen between jumps, not that youâd jumped to the future. We donât want the entire world knowing about time travel and your ability to do it, or ours.â
âSo, there you have it,â Five scoffed.
âDumbed down, yes, but I thought since youâve had a hard day, youâd appreciate that.â
âAre you one of us?â he asked as he studied you, for the first time his eyes not darting away from yours when you determinedly refused to look away.
âNo,â you half laughed, half scoffed. âAs you can see,â you waved a hand in front of yourself, âI am not the same age as your siblings, but I suppose when it comes to you, that means little, so fair question. Unlike you, I am the age I appear to be, which Iâm guessing is not much off from you physically at this point. I was plucked out of college to come here, and since then, I devoted my life to being here to help you in any way I can, and I assure I am qualified to do it otherwiseââ
âOtherwise, I wouldnât have hired you,â he finished for you. Hand at his mouth, anxiously edging his teeth across his thumbnail, Fiveâs eyes grew distant again.
Silence filled the room.
âWe have a meeting with the board in the morning. I will drop off the agenda early enough for you to go over it beforehand,â you said, pushing your chair out to get up.
You waited a moment for him to look up, but he didnât, so you headed to the door, turning just before you left.
âThis is over,â you said, the anger in your voice completely gone. âAt least you can take solace in that.â
You shut the door behind you.
Still seeing the delicate features of your face overlapping those of the mysterious boy on the balcony whoâd looked like him, only not, Five mentally kicked himself.
âThis isnât over,â he breathed.
Chapter Four: Iâm the Daddy Here
By the next day, when Fiveâs brothers dropped into his office, he had shadows under his eyes and his young bones were aching like his body really was 70 years old.
Sitting in front of him, next to Klaus, Diego stretched his arms up over his head, as he said, âDude, you still have your shitty apartment from your CIA days to crash at, so why does it look like youâve been pacing your secret lair all night?â
âOh gee, I donât know Diego,â Five threw back. âMaybe I forgot I had a place to call my own and I did pace in here all night? Unlike you, I have bigger things on my mind than which Hawaiian shirt Iâm going to wear to work.â
âYou look so Miami Vice,â Klaus said, giving Diego a high five, before he moved his attention to Five. âWhat are you whining about, man? We are riding on a gravy train with biscuit wheels.â He threw his arms around like they should look around him. âWe won!â
Five lips pursed tighter.
Klausâs jaw dropped as he looked over at Diego. âWhat⌠We didnât win? Weâre all in the void?â
Diego laughed. âFor a someone with the powers of divine entity you sure areâ"
âWe won,â Five interrupted, bringing them back to the point. âOr I should say, we will, but not unless I finish this.â
âYou did finish this. We are here and life is good,â Diego pointed out, moving on to what he felt the real problem was. âAre you happy, Five? And what does that even mean to you outside of making sure we all keep breathing? Maybe the answer to that is why youâre still struggling. Apocalypse addiction is a-â
âFuck you, Diego. I donât need one of your psych ward therapy sessions you and Lila get off on. I need to have a kid! If I donât, we will all cease to exist and there will be no do over this time and that is very bad!â
âHow do you know that?â he questioned, his amused smile still proving that he thought they were just having one of their usual lectures with Five about him needing to get out more.
âShit. Is it hot in here?â Five complained, yanking at his collar.
âEarth to Five,â Diego rammed him, âI asked you a question.â
Having loosened his tie enough to feel like the walls werenât closing in on him, Five testily said, âI know this, Diego, because a kid that looked a lot like me was there just before The Cleanse finished its job, and he called me dad. If he hadnât been there and said what he did, verbally slapping me into doing something, we wouldnât be here.â
âWhat?!â Klaus bellowed. âNo way! Youâre a dad!â
âNo,â Five sighed. âI will be a dad in the future-maybe.â
âMaybe!? Why didnât you tell us this!â Diego yelled, nearly falling out of his chair.
âI am telling you,â Five replied.
âYeah, sure,â Diego huffed. âNow you are. And why does your kid have powers and mine and Allisonâs donât?â
âWow. Itâs just like Marty McFly in Back to the Future.â Klaus lifted his hand, checking to see if it was disappearing yet.
Five tiredly smiled at him. âItâs not at all like that. Time loops donât work that way. If we evaporate, it will be instantaneous, and at this point, I have no idea how long I have to prevent it. There will be no warning.â
âTime loops shhh-mime loops,â Diego said, running his fingers over his mustache. âYou know we donât understand any of that shit. But hey, this doesnât have to be a bad thing. Your nuts are full of superpowered swimmers. You should be excited.â
Five rolled his eyes. âExcitement is not exactly what Iâd call what I am feeling. If I donât produce a magical progeny, none of the things I have done will matter. We all die anyway. Case in point, this is a bad thing.â
âShoot,â Klaus whistled. âIf youâd known this years ago you could have spent way less time privately polishing your palm and instead been out trying to impregnate the world with your superpowered sperm.â
Five groaned. âThat wouldnât have worked, because it needs to happen now. After The Cleanse and the time situation was fixed.â
âI donât get what the big deal is,â Klaus insisted. âYouâre a stud. Get out there and have some fun.â
âAnd if itâs having kids you are worried about, they are both the best and worst thing that can happen to you,â Diego added. âI would know. Having three of them putting their sticky little fingers on all our shit all the time isnât awesome, but creating them was fun.â He nudged Klaus. âThis one time when Lila and I were in the back of Wanda weâ"
âNot another word!â Five yelled.
âWhatever, man,â Diego chuckled. âYou just need to see the bright side. Your kid was trying to help you and did.â He cleared his throat. âWhen it comes to Dolores, you can beat the meat with her all day but youâll never beat the real th-â
âPlease stop,â Five groaned again, burying his head in his hands.
Nodding his head in agreement, Klaus grinned hopefully. âI think what Diego is trying to say is having a breathing lady has its benefâ"
âWeâre done!â Five snapped, as he sprung forward. âIf you donât zip it, Iâm going to blink you downstairs to the incinerator and lock you in there.â Slamming his index finger down on his desk, pointing at his gigantic desk pad calendar, he grinned maniacally. âAnd what do you know, itâs garbage day! You wonât be swimming in last weekâs rotting tuna salad for long.â
âYouâd never do that to us.â
âReally, Diego? You want to test that?â
Fiveâs brothers glanced at each other, eyebrows raised, like testing that wasnât such a bad way to spend their afternoon.
âFiveâ"
âNo, Klaus! Like I told Luther. IâM THE DADDY HERE! I am done entertaining you idiots. Get out!â
âSettled down,â Diego laughed. âWeâre just trying to help you see that this isnât so bad. And with the kid thing, I love mine and you do too. Speaking of which, it would be nice if their favorite uncle babysat them more often. Lila and I havenât had a night out in a while.â
âI babysit,â Five defended.
âNot enough,â Diego shot back, pointing Fiveâs ballpoint pen at him.
Reaching forward, Five swiped it away. âDeigo, if I came over more often so you dipshits could go out and do disgusting things in your van, then youâd be dealing with more than three sticky-fingered monsters.â
Diego glanced at Klaus, then back at Five, smirking. âSay what you will, but I know you love being an uncle. The mountain of stuffed animals each of the girls has is proof of that.â
Tipping his weight back in his chair, Five folded his hands over his lap, wearily eyeing his brother. âI am not wrong,â he said, ignoring the point about his nieces and how much he enjoyed spoiling them. âYou still have no idea how this baby making thing works and itâs only a matter of time before youâll be complaining about baby number four on the way and how you already have no room in your house for all the people living there.â
Diego scowled. âHey⌠I understand how it works just fine. I already told you guys the last two werenât my fault. Lila told me she couldnât get pregnant while breastfeeding.â
âAnd you should believe everything your wacko wife says?â
âYes.â No longer able to contain it, Diego burst out laughing. âFive. This about you, not me, and as much as you want to act like you know it all. When it comes to enjoying the good parts of life, you are still about as fresh out the gate as you can get. Just flirt with a girl. Get to fucking her on the regular, and ta-da, circle of destiny complete. No more death knocking on our doors.â
Five let out heavy sigh. âIt isnât as easy as that.â
Raising his hands in an open palm gesture, Klaus said, âMaybe it is.â
Five narrowed his eyes. âYou have no idea what you are talking about, or what I have been through. Or the complications I am dealing with.â
âWe get your hangups, we really do but,â Diego chimed in.
âNo, you donât!â
âThen tell us.â
âItâs her!â Five angrily pointed to the door. âThe woman I hired who loathes me for reasons I canât really blame her for, not when Iâve been such a colossal asshole to her. Sheâs the one! It has to be the right person for this kid to be the exact same kid I saw, and itâs her. She's the mom!â
âHow do you know?â
âI just do, Diego!â
When neither Klaus nor Diego stopped staring at him, Five started counting on his hands.
âI know becauseâŚ
One: The boy had my pocket watch that she also had on her when I got here. He threw it and she dropped it, all within seconds of our timelines merging.
Two: She has his eyes! They were my color green but the shape of hers!â
Five shook his head, his hands shaking he was so upset.
âThe way they both look when they smileâŚâ he breathed, âthe curve of her lips is the same as his. Him being there with that watch wasnât a coincidence. For him to be there at all, that means he jumped between timelines. I sure as hell couldn't do that, but if I could have, I know that everything you take with you on that kind of impossible journey would make it that much harder. He brought that watch with him because he was trying to point me in the right direction with her and I didnât see it until it was too late, and now the only deal Iâll be sealing with his mother if I try to hit on her is going to be a kick in my magical nuts.â
Like a deflating balloon, Five sunk his face into his arms where he had them folded on top of his desk.
âItâs not too late. You guys seem to get along,â Klaus soothed.
Five shook his head no, not bothering to look up.
âJust be nice to her,â Diego unhelpfully added.
âI think itâs a little past that,â Five mumbled.
Chapter Five: Entente
âSay nothing,â Five warned. âI donât need everyone up my ass. You two knowing is bad enough.â
Tapping your knuckles on the door, Klaus called out extra high pitched, telling you to come in.
âWhoâs daddy here?â you said, your smile getting bigger as you asked about the outburst you just overheard from your office next door.
âFive is,â Klaus happily exclaimed.
âIncinerator!â Five barked, wildly motioning at him like he was going to slice his head off with his index finger.
âBlah, blah, blah,â Diego said, his hand mimicking the action of a mouth as he squawked it at Five. âWe need to get this show on the road. Iâm gonna tellââ
âDiego, so help me,â he hissed, cutting him off.
âIâm sorry to interrupt,â you said, your eyebrows drawing together, âbut some of us have a meeting in two minutes.â
Five quickly picked up his notes and pushed out of his chair. âShall we?â he said, directing you to lead the way with an assertive wave of his hand.
You walked in silence to the boardroom, but reaching the door, Five unexpectedly placed his hand on your upper arm, holding you back.
Coming past, Diego smacked his ass. âDonât look so spooked, kid.â
âI will kill you,â Five replied, his voice as sugary sweet as his fake smile.
Still laughing, Diego joined the others
âWhatâs so funny?â Lila asked, before shoving him down in his chair, opposite yours, next to the head of the table.
âFive,â he answered.
âWhen isnât he? I mean look at him,â she said, eyeing you both up with a curious look before looking back at her husband, giving him an even more devilish smirk than sheâd given you. âWhy donât you spank me like that?â
âOh, Iâll give you a spanking, babe, especially if you keep looking at me like you want to go for a ride on my sweet mustache.â
âLA-LA-LA-LA!â Ben bellowed. âWe do not need to hear this, you ASSHOLES!â
âIâm sorry,â Five quietly breathed, directing your attention away from the Hargreeves family daily bickering forum. âWhat you have done here for me, and for them, I donât have the words to express how thankful I am.â
He paused, the sincerity in his eyes startling you.
Without hesitation, you reached out, your fingers slowly sliding up the length of black silk leading to his neck. âThere,â you said, fixing his knot. âYou didnât seem to be aware you were all twisted.â
Looking humorously befuddled, Fiveâs Adamâs apple bobbed up then down. âI am not aware of a lot of things going on,â he quietly replied.
âNo? You?â you teased.
âThank you,â he said again.
âYouâre welcome. Now, shall we?â you asked, as you gave him the same heavy-handed gesture heâd given you in his office.
~~~
For the next hour and half, Five sat at the head of the table in a board room full of people all appointed by him. Even Elliot was sitting in as the new director of analytics since Diego and Herb and Lila were now acting as supervisors over all operations that either he or you werenât.
Heâd read your notes, telling him what to expect, but that didnât mean he wasnât lost. Still, each time a question was directed at him that he couldnât readily answer, you seamlessly stepped in, replying for him. No one was the wiser that he was floundering, but by the end of the day, your smooth handling of him was only adding to how uncomfortable he felt.
Shutting the door to his office, briefcase in hand, Five was about to open a portal to travel forward in time, back to his musty old apartment, but then he heard something.
Turning, he saw your office door was open. He came that way, moving into the light streaming into the hall.
âWhat is all this?â he questioned, watching you trying to ram a stack of boxes in the corner, your sock covered feet repeatedly slipping across the slick flooring because the tower of cardboard cubes weighed more than you.
âThese are all my worldly possessions,â you replied, glancing his way before giving your things one final shove. Bending straight, you placed a hand to your sore lower back, massaging it. âSince the sale of all employee housing and other unused buildings started, and then prepping for you all coming back, I have been a tad bit busy. I havenât had time to find a new place. So this is it for me right now.â
Taking in your short cotton sleep shorts and well worn t-shirt, when you busted him staring at how your shirt had fallen off your shoulder, Five diverted his gaze to your small meeting table covered with disassembled briefcase parts. âYouâve been sleeping in here? Where?â he asked, sounding very concerned.
âMost of the time, I sleep with my head on my desk, waking up with a tattoo of whatever I was working on the night prior inked on the side of my face,â you said, laughing a little. âThis morning, that was the user manual for the new watches that will replace those huge briefcases. The roll out should be ready next week. I just need to get the mockup version down to research and development and they can take it from there.â
Five frowned even more, which made you smile even more. âYou figured out how to recalibrate the energy field alternators so theyâd fit in something that small?â
âI did, but it was you who invented the briefcases to begin with. I just used your original notes and changed a few things. We have a pretty bracelet version too if youâd rather that over the watch?â
âHuhâŚâ Five looked impressed, and at a loss of words.
When he didnât move from the threshold of your door, you took pity on him. âWould you like to have a look?â You gestured to the scattering of tubes and sapphire-colored vials of glowing liquid energy that he at some point down the road created to mimic what he naturally produced when he time traveled.
Coming in, Five set his briefcase down and started to look over your work.
âI think the watch version will be just fine,â he said. âThank you for fixing this one for me. Seems you are very good at fixing things I canât figure out.â As you looked down at the silver chain hooked to his vest, he smirked.
âWatch it is,â you said, getting more and more flushed as he rocked back on his heels, his hands fiddling in his pants pockets as if daring you to look just a little lower.
âCan we talk?â he asked, breaking the awkward tension, but also worrying you with the way his cocky smile instantly evaporated.
âAh⌠Sure.â Heading to your desk, you removed the garment bags hanging over one of the two chairs co-workers usually sat in. Sitting down in the chair across from him as he lowered himself in the spot you cleared, you said, âWhatâs on your mind?â
âWhat would you say if I told you, that when it comes to me needing your help, the complexity of things I asked you to do so far only touched the tip of the iceberg when compared to what Iâm about to ask next?â
âIâd say we need a drink,â you laughed.
âIâd say yes to that,â he said, the tiniest pull at his lips again making his eyes gleam and your cheeks feel warm.
Thankful for a reason to look away, you opened your desk drawer, pulling out a bottle of Scotch and two glasses.
âThatâs a good one,â he noted.
You cracked the seal, pouring a few fingers worth for each of you. âIâm sure it is,â you replied. âI heard the boss enjoyed this brand and I was going to give it to him as a welcoming back gift, but he turned out to be a dick, so I kept it.â
You pushed his glass across your desk.
âTo bad bosses and putting them in their place,â he suggested, raising his glass.
You fluttered your eyelashes at him overly cutely, clinking his glass with yours. âTo telling you off.â
Taking a sip, Five nodded his approval, his grin deepening.
âSpeaking of workplace relationships,â he said. âThat brings me back to what I need to talk to you about.â
âGo on.â You took another drink.
âI would rather gargle a pinecone than have to say this, but I have no choice. This isnât just about me and if I live to see another day or not. Itâs about my family too.â
You set your glass down, your eyes glued to his. âWhat do you mean if you get to see another day or not?â
âWhat I mean is, the only reason my family and I, or any like us, are here is because of something my future kid said to me right before I dropped out of the sky landing in a cake. If he hadnât paid me a visit, telling me to move my ass and not let The Cleanse eat us, weâd be dead and never been born at all as far as youâd be concerned. Now, if I donât succeed in producing him, this entire causality loop will disintegrate, my family along with it.â
âThe kid you asked about?â you breathed, remembering Five yelling at you in the park about a kid, right before he knocked you on your ass a second time.
âYeah. That kid. Our kid,â he said.
You started rubbing your temples. âOur kid, you say?â
He nodded.
âAnd you know Iâm a part of this how?â
âThere were clues,â he said, rolling his eyes, but not at you. âI stupidly didnât put any of them together until after I repeatedly insulted your intelligence and unleashed my wounded ego on you.â
âWhat kind of clues?â
âBig ones, like every part of him I saw was half you, down to the way you are looking at me right now with those pouty lips.â
âI am not pouting.â
âNeither was he.â Five titled his head down, looking at his drink he hadnât touched since the first taste.
âWhat are you asking?â
He looked up and laughed weakly. âI think you know.â
âYou want me to have a kid with you, so this future person can exist to complete a loophole in time or all of you will be gone-just poof?â
âYes. But itâs more of a causality loop than a loophole,â he corrected, the hint of his smirk playing up the corner of his mouth.
âThatâs it?â
Five leaned forward, setting his glass down a few inches from yours. Sitting back in his chair, he steepled his hands at his chin, his face becoming even more forlorn. âWe can do this no-strings attached,â he offered. âI will raise our son alone if thatâs your wish, or we can do it together, but you owe me nothing. I will support you either way. Itâs all strictly business with this deal.â
âThis is not at all what I thought we were going to be talking about,â you said, staring at him, still looking for sign he was fucking with you.
âThis is a matter of life and death, and I would never put this on you if it was just me I was worried about,â he said, his guilt evident in the tortured look filling his eyes. âItâs my family and their kidsââ
âNo, I get it. You mentioned the family thing,â you quickly cut in, holding your hand up as you shut your eyes. The lines in your forehead deepened when you looked back again. âHow long do we have⌠I mean, can I think on it?â
âI donât know how long. I could have days or even years to get you pregnant.What I do know is, if I donât do it fast enough and suddenly Iâm gone, there will be no going back with a briefcase for a do over. That said⌠of course you can think on it.â
You said nothing, your eyes darting around your messy desktop.
Five started to get up. âIâm sorry.â The sound of his voice was about as self-deprecating as it could get. âI am not the type to say those two dirty words very often, but with you,â He smiled sadly again, then picked up his briefcase, âitâs something I might as well start every sentence with.â
When you said nothing, Five finally turned his gaze downward, swallowing hard before he opened his mouth again.
âIâm sure Iâm the last person you want to procreate with, and there are other less touchy ways of getting this done, but with time of the essence, and with how high the stakes are, Iâd prefer if you agree to do this, we do it the old-fashioned way. The odds of it working are higher that way and there is no need to involve anyone else.â
âMakes sense,â you quietly replied, your cheeks flushing as much as his suddenly were.
âYou are welcome to sleep on the couch in my office,â he offered, looking around your office again. âThe blanket you left me is still in there, and itâs not my place to say it, but I did put you in this situation and Iâd feel much better knowing you were in there, not in here, waking up with lines from a boring user manual printed to your pretty face.â
He cocked his head to the side and smiled.
You silently nodded, then Five activated his briefcase, leaving you alone, shaken beyond words.
Chapter Six: Only Fools Rush In
Knocking over your unfinished third glass of Scotch when you accidently threw your hand into it while readjusting your face on the stack of books youâd taken out to reference, you gave in, going to Fiveâs office to sleep on his couch.
Heâd only laid on it once, but when you were doing the same thing, you felt his presence as if he were right there. Everything in your life revolved around Five Hargreeves, and now even your blanket smelled like him, and so did the end pillow you had your head on.
It wasnât a bad smell. Even passed out and covered in cake, Five smelled good, like a minty warm scent mixed with something earthy and wild. When you cleaned him up, you couldnât help but notice his prominent jaw that could cut glass, or his shiny dark hair that was as soft as it looked.
Despite a decent place to sleep, all you could do was think about what he wanted you to do with him.
Way before he came in for the day, you were up and out of there. Showering down in the now mostly unused field agent locker rooms, you dressed in your usual modern day pencil skirt and blouse paired with heels, taking a little more time than normal at the mirror.
âCalm down,â you lectured your reflection.
Coming past Fiveâs open office door a while later, seeing him working alongside Herb at a chalkboard one of them had wheeled in, just breathing normally became a task youâd rather not add to your many others.
Five looked immaculate. He was wearing a new suit-three piece, like his others, but this one was tailored in a way that accentuated everything about him you were trying not to think about.
The figure he cut was full of promise and unimaginable power if he only thought of wielding it. Yet, he was noticeably relaxed in all his movements, everything he did deliberate, down to the way he looked your way for just a second, politely smiling, then went right back to scratching his numbers on the green slate as if you weren't still there staring.
At any second he could disappear, his family, and the young boy he told you about too, and thinking about that devastated you in ways you didnât even have words or emotions to convey.
Sitting down in The Commission cafeteria hours later, you anxiously watched as Five moved through the line, loading his tray while in conversation with Viktor and Luther.
Nervously tapping your index finger against your milk carton, you waited. The moment he noticed you looking, he came your way.
âCan I join you?â he asked, approaching your empty table.
âLetâs do it,â you blurted.
Five slowly dropped down on the bench across from you. âYeah?â
âItâs the only option,â you less embarrassingly replied. âI may not have my head wrapped around all of this, but I donât know what Iâd do if all of you suddenly werenât here anymore. Explaining that to the kids and just⌠No. It canât happen. I wonât let it.â
He nodded, letting go of his tray as he sat back.
âWhen?â he asked, his soft smile and twinkly green eyes filled with relief.
âNow. If you are ready? The sooner we do it, the sooner we know you are all safe, right?â
âRight,â he said, his increasing eagerness showing in the hyperfocus of his cunning eyes as they quickly moved from yours, to the door of the lunch hall, then back again. âCome on.â Getting up, leaving his untouched food where it sat, Five took off. Â
He dashed down the busy hall past the lobby area, heading for the stairs.
âWhere?â he called out.
âI donât know?â you breathed back, still trying to catch up.
Heading down the hall towards your offices, seeing the busy flow of people working down at that end of the building, Five stopped in his tracks.
He glanced over at the bathroom door a few doors back in the direction you just came.
Restless looking as before, taking you by the hand, he spun you around like he was leading you in a dance, pulling your back against his chest.
You had no time to recognize that the heat you were feeling wasnât just from his body suddenly pressed to yours. Static energy sizzled, the light from it so bright your eyes automatically flew shut as he blinked you away with him.
Appearing with your feet back on solid floor, your breath whooshing out of your pounding chest, the harsh smell of cleaners filled your nose.
You opened your eyes to the sight of a toilet and a wall in front of you.
Once sure you werenât going to topple over, Five stepped back, the sound of the bathroom stall door behind him bumping into his back before it creaked closed.
âAre you sure about this?â he asked, his voice so low behind your ear that only you could hear it over the sound of the person washing their hands at the sinks.
âYes,â you whispered.
There was a soft turning of the metal as Five latched the door.
Hinges squealed and two seconds later, the heavy wooden door to the hallway banged close.
~~~
Approaching you from behind, Fiveâs cock twitched. Just looking at you like this was enough to make it happen. He palmed himself through the fabric of his pants, an unexpected thrust of his hips threatening to topple him forward.Â
His entire body was so alert it was vibrating, the desire in his loins building to a fever pitch.
His trembling hand brushed against your hair, brushing it aside so he could see the side of your face, the other working to get his zipper down.Â
You let out a surprised gasp when he suddenly forced one leg between your thighs, parting them easily.
Having freed himself from his pants, feeling your whole-body tense as he pressed up against you, his head swimming with lust, he launched at your throat. Biting at your soft skin hard enough to sting, you reactively cried out.
âQuiet,â he growled, then thrust himself against you again, his fingers dragging the fabric of your skirt up your legs.
Sliding his palm down your stomach, Five pushed your panties down with the motion of his fingers clumsily running between your folds, a quick smile spreading across the back of your neck when he felt how wet you were.
His hand at your back, pushing you forward until your feet fell out of your slingback heels, you were forced up on your tippy toes with your hands falling into the wall behind the toilet. In one forward thrust, he buried himself, his body crushing against your back.
Feeling himself throbbing inside you, Five began to move, his fingers pulling away from your clit so he could put them on your hip, opposite his other hand. Rapidly thwapping his pelvis against the erotic feeling of your squishy butt cheeks, he bit at your shoulder again.
Fingers digging in, he yanked you towards him with each thrust. Then, going harder, his heels coming off the floor, he bottomed out.
You cried out, his hand just as fast flying off your hip, covering your mouth.
Pulling your head back to his shoulder, Fiveâs thrusts became rougher, more insistent. Groaning into your ear, his ragged gasps signaled his rapidly approaching climax.
In one fluid thrust he withdrew almost all the way out, then sunk back in as he came, finishing with a few shuttering jerks of his hips.Â
His hands slowly slipped from your mouth to rest at your throat as he fought to catch his breath.Â
You didn't move until he backed away, letting your skirt drop back into place.
Hot come started trailing hot down your inner thigh.
Sounds from the hall filled the tiled room with voices, then the door closed again. Footsteps moved across the bathroom, the metal partition surrounding you rattling as one of The Commissionâs staff enclosed themselves in the stall one away from yours.
Burning from the force of Fiveâs entry, your entire body shaking, you started to turn around. Refusing to meet your eye, or even acknowledge you were there, as soon as Five had his pants fastened, he blinked away.
~~~
When you reached Fiveâs office a few minutes later, he was standing inside, looking over his mail.
Marching over, you said, âWhen I said letâs do this, I didnât mean I wanted it like this!â
âWhat did you mean like this?â he hotly shot back, throwing down his letter opener.
âI have feelings! I am not a fuck doll!â you fired back at him. âWhy did you just leave me like that?â Five bristled, his nostrils flaring. âI fucked you. Thatâs what we agreed we are doing, remember? I canât help that you wanted it right then and there. Your pussy was clenching on my dick so hard, thereâs no way you didnât get off. What more do you want from me? I did my part.â
You slapped him.
Holding his cheek, Five let out a shallow breath, a clear sense of confusion in his stunned eyes.
âYou donât just fuck someone like that and disappear!â
âWhatâd you expect me to do?â he yelled back just as Elliot walked in, quickly pivoting back out the door the second he heard the still very intimidating man he once thought was a scary little alien boy going off on you.
âI donât know what I expected, but I⌠I just thoughtâŚâ Feeling your eyes prickle, you looked away. âIt doesnât matter. You donât care.â âDo you want me to care?â âYou are such a prick,â you muttered.
By the time Fiveâs thoughts had merged together to form a defense, you were gone, slamming the door behind you.
Chapter 7: Public Displays
âI didn't ask for this!â Five growled, about to come after you as he swung his door open to find his brother standing outside, his hand raised to knock.  Â
âWhat,â Diego asked, âhaving a nice conversation with a real woman?â
âNo!â he barked, stomping past, heading to your office, but right away, he saw Dot at your desk, not you. Coming back out, he raked a hand through his hair, cursing under his breath.
âDid you tell her?â Diego pushed.
âYes, I told her.â
âDid she say yes to jumping your little bones?â
Five breathed in, his teeth clenching as his shoulders bounced.
Diego grinned. âYou banged her already, didn't you?â âWhy don't you irritate Lila and leave me alone.â
âOh! You did!â Diego started pumping his fist. âYes! Thatâs what Iâm talking about⌠I knew you wouldnât let us down, and with the rest, Iâm just messing with you, man. Lighten up. Thatâs part of your problem.â
Five clapped his hands together brandishing a fake smile. âNobody said I had a problem but you, and whatever this is, is over. I am in no mood to fight with you.â
âThis was not a fight. And if it was, Iâd win.â Diego threw his arm around Fiveâs shoulder, pulling him back inside his office. Letting him go once inside, he said, âAnd sure, nobody said you had a problem, but that girlâs teary face did when she just passed me.â
âShe was crying?â
âShe was doing that thing women do when they are trying not to.â
âShit.â
âFive,â Diego said, in a very big brotherly tone, âfor so long youâve had to evaluate everything under the brutal terms of survival, all things either being irrelevant or not, but with this one, maybe thatâs not the way to go. Kill the emotionally stunted old man shit. I know you have the hots for her. Sheâs perfect for you, which Iâm betting is why you hired her, that, and sheâs way smarter than you, which again goes back to why I know you are being a dick.â
âYou have no idea what you are talking about.â
âI donât? So, you didnât just do something stupid?â
âItâs so much more than that,â Five said, his eyes turning even more tormented looking as he looked away, then back again, doing his best to keep it together.
Diego smiled. âYou are a good person, man. You can fix this.â
Sad and angry, Five said nothing, and he continued to say nothing to Diego about it, or you for the rest of the day, and then the next, and then the next. You kept doing your job, of course, communicating with him when necessary, but that was it, and it was killing him.Â
Diego was right. He had to do something. It was his fault-again.
~~~
Day four, Five couldnât take it anymore.Â
Lightly tapping on your door frame, you looked up from your desk. He raised one of the two coffee cups he was holding. Offering a smile. âTwo sugars, one cream?â
Your pen slowed to a stop. âWhy would you know that?â
He came in. âI know that because, over the last few days Iâve been asking the girls around here all sorts of things about you, and because of my persistent inquiries with them and pretty much everyone else around here, Iâm fairly certain the entire building knows their boss is falling hard for you.â
Taking the coffee from his outstretched hand, your mouth opened but nothing came out.
âI never meant to hurt you,â he whispered. âThat is the last thing I wanted to do.â
Slowly standing, you asked, âCan we go for a walk?â
âI would love that,â Five quietly replied.
Once outside, strolling across the open green area between The Commission's main buildings, taking sips of his coffee to fill the silence between you, Five waited, watching you for signs of what to do.
âI suppose we canât go far,â you finally said. âIf we ventured too off campus weâd probably start a flurry of chatter with the good citizens of this quaint little town.â
Five smiled, âTrue. But if you wanted to change into your poodle skirt, and I could dig up some of my frumpy old man trousers somewhere, then maybe we could snag a milkshake down at the drugstore. Iâd even give you some nickels for the jukebox since youâre my favorite girl.â
âI like you in your old man trousers, and Iâm not your favorite girl. But nice try,â you laughed.
âI get to decide who my favorite girl is, not you and Iâd like you in anything,â he retorted. âAnd heyâŚâ He frowned. âWhen did you see me looking like the crazy old bastard I really am?â
âIn your files and footage on the Infinite Switch board. I did my research. I take my job very seriously, as you know.â You gave him an even more teasing looking grin, then added, âI canât wait to see you with that cute mustache again.â
âYou canât?â
Taking Fiveâs hand in yours, you pulled him over to a shady bench under the fluttering leaves of a towering oak tree.
Once you had him sitting, you let go, watching his fingers fidgeting with unease as they came around his cup with the others, gripping it way too tight.
âFiveâŚâ
He looked up, meeting your gaze.
âI was hurt about what happened in the bathroom because you are right,â you started. âWhat you did, the way you did it⌠Everything about you and that was hot. With just that moment of amazing sex, you left me ruined and it really scared me.â
âIt scared me too,â he admitted, his soft eyes searching yours. âThatâs why I left.â
âAll I wanted was for you to hold me,â you said. âAnything but leave.â
âThe last thing I wanted was to leave but I thought youâd only agreed to do this because you felt like there was no other choice. I asked you to have a child with me, but that didnât mean you had to be with me more than that..â
âFiveâŚâ you said, setting down your cup so you could take his hand in yours again. âThe moment I was hired, everything I learned about you further proved what an amazing person I already thought you were. I was fighting an embarrassing schoolgirl level crush on you even before you got here, and since, it's only gotten worse despite you being a jerk most of the time. Thatâs how much you mean to me.â
âItâs not just me feeling this way?â
âNo. Itâs not just you,â you said, as he lovingly caressed the underside of your wrist with the tips of his fingers.
âCan we start over?â he asked, his voice barely above a whisper, his emerald eyes about as worried looking as youâd ever seen them.
âWe already are,â you said, his nervousness distracting you from your nerves.
Moving your entwined hands into Fiveâs lap, his breath hitched, his air intake stopping entirely when your warm palm slowly moved over his crotch.Â
With only a peck at first, your lips meeting his, Five whimpered against your mouth, his cock growing heavy and warm under your hand.
After only allowing yourself to feel the desperation of his kiss for just a moment longer, you pulled back, smiling at him. âYou are ready to go just like that, arenât you?âÂ
âItâs my secret superpower,â he said, already trying to kiss you again, his tongue dipping inside your mouth, exploring.
âJust the smell of your body is enough to get me hard,â he groaned, having to break away to breathe, as you massaged your hand harder over the bulge in his pants.Â
Loving this, you leaned into Five more, placing extra soft brushes of your lips just below his ear.
âWe need to either stop or we need to go somewhere, now!â he warned, the pitch of his strained voice so funny, you laughed, the heat of your breath against his throat enough to make him whimper like a puppy all over again.Â
âGet us out of here, and I wonât stop,â you said, in between kisses along his jawline.
Your discarded coffees spilling from the force of air filling the vacuum of space youâd just been sitting in, in less than a second, you were clumsily standing between buildings, only partially hidden from any onlookers by a bush full of spring flowers.
Falling into Five as he leaned his back against the brick wall behind him, you raised your eyebrows in question.
âWhen the blood flow to my brain is in short supply, like it is right now, itâs best I donât try to blink somewhere I canât already see,â he frantically explained before smashing his lips against yours again.
Working his pants down as fast as you could, you reached inside his pants, gripping his naked cock in your hand.
âFuck,â he gasped, his hips helplessly thrusting.
His eyes becoming even more heavy-lidded, you started to move the outer skin of his shaft over the harder core.Â
Your other hand lowering, you cupped Fiveâs balls through the bunched material draping off his tensed thighs. His heartbeat already pounding in his ears, when you gave him a little squeeze, his scrotum pulsed to the same rhythm, his mind becoming even more clouded.
âYes, do that,â he groaned.
âAt night, do you think about us doing things like this?â you questioned as you smirked. âBecause I do, writhing on your couch with my fingers between my legs?âÂ
âFfffuck yes, I think about this!â he croaked as you slid your hand up his cock, swirling your finger round and round over the glistening pleasure seeping out of him.
âHow exactly do you think about me, Five?â you pushed.
He shook his head, back and forth, overwhelmed with your touch as he was by the things you were saying.
âPlease tell me,â you encouraged, feeling more empowered by the second.
âI think about you underneath me,â he gasped. âI see your hands gripping my sheets, and I hear you moaning my name as my cock fills your sweet little pussy full of load after load of my come.â
âTell me moreâŚâ you said, your smile broadening.
âI fuck my hand, pretending Iâm inside of you, every fucking single morning and night. The way you smile at me, I want to bite your lips so fucking bad, and the way your body looks in your tight skirts! I want to devour you!â
Fiveâs breaths were coming as quick gasps and there was no point in asking him if what you were doing was right. His face pressed against your shoulder as your hand moved faster, his soft shuddering not letting up the whole time.
The sound of voices passed by, but there was no indication that whoever else was out enjoying the sunny afternoon looked your way.
Your hand slicked, moving easily over Five with the silkiness of his bountiful pre-cum, even more hot wetness began to coat your hand. At your neck Five desperately kissed you as he sucked in gulps of air.Â
His whole-body trembling, you ran your fingernails through the back of his hair as you slowly stroked him through the final tremors of his release.Â
âHoly fuck I loved everything about that, but it was not at all conducive to us achieving our goal,â he finally said, smiling as he sheepishly peered at you from under the dark curtain of hair falling over his sleepy eyes.
âNo, it was not, but that was the point. This is not just about that. This was about us starting over, which I think we just did. I want you and you want me and together we are going to do our best to make a superpowered little family,â you said.
Five laughed. âYou really are smarter than me, and along with this being more proof of that, I think most of my remaining dignity just went down the drain with that crazy shit I just said to you, and the rest was just obliterated after that when I jizzed all over your skirt. A gentleman might have fought you off harder, and not done that,â he said as you burrowed into his warmth, with your head resting on his shoulder.
âHe might,â you agreed, âbut I think we both know that you are no gentleman.â
The softness of Fiveâs expression as you peeked up at him only made you want to see the kind of pleasure you just drew out of him all over again. All the harshness you knew he was capable of had washed away, leaving his eyelids heavy and his wetted lips parted in silence as he held you like he never wanted to let go.
Knowing you couldnât stay there forever, a few minutes later, watching you clean you hand off, seeing that not only when he blew his load, some of it got on your shirt too, a little of the worry had found its way back into Fiveâs contented expression, but you were quick to address it, wiping the milky white off with your finger before sticking it in your mouth.
 âThere,â you said, pulling your cleaned finger out for him to see. âAll better. Now be a good boy the rest of the day and pay my next dry-cleaning bill, and I might let you take me to dinner tonight.â
Chapter 8: Taking Care of Business
Finishing your workday, you changed into a new sundress, one that you never had the chance to wear until now. On pins and needles, springing around your office, you tried to pick up your hopeless mess, every minute Five took to get there making your heart race faster.
As you promised, if he was good the rest of the day, which he was, shortly after you saw several of his family members come out of his office, Five strolled in, a single flower in his hand, only it wasnât a rose or anything traditional like that. It was a bloom that looked just like the ones on the bush heâd blinked behind so you could man-handle him.
Coming your way, he extended the fluffy white blossom. Taking it from him, holding it to your nose, the summery perfume enchanted your senses as much as his sweet smile.Â
âReady?â he asked.
You nodded, yes.
Giving you a look that made your panties instantly wet, after a few buttons pushed on his new watch, you were off.
~~~
Like any first date, yours was filled with nervous jokes to hide insecurities, but it was exactly what you both needed to circle back to where you should have started to begin with.
As you already knew, Five was complicated. He had been through unimaginable things, some you knew about, some you didnât. No matter where the conversation took you, when it came to his past, he was forthright, and everything new you learned only made you respect him and hurt for him more.
Five took his time asking you questions, listening patiently as you told him about your life, from the start to now. In those parts of the night, his smile never seemed to fade.
âHave you considered a day off might be in order if you are ever going to move out of your office?â he teased when you got to the part about the last few weeks.
âYes,â you said, after swallowing another delicious drink of the Bordeaux he ordered to go with the herb-crusted roasted lamb on your plates. âBut my boss would be lost without me for even a minute, so it looks like Iâll be stuck sleeping on the couch in his office indefinitely.â
âIâd rather you slept in my bed,â he silkily replied, his smile reddened even more seductively by the rich sip of wine he just licked off his lips.
You rubbed your foot along his lower pant leg, tickling your toes up and down like youâd been doing most of your dinner.
Eyes darkening, Five reached across the table, pulling your hand into his. Like every time he blinked with you so far, you had almost no warning it was coming.
Bouncing down on his mattress, propelling himself on top of you, Fiveâs fingers dug into your ribs, tickling with no mercy.Â
âFive! Stop!â you cried, laughing so hard you couldnât breathe.
âNo! Youâve been fucking with me all night!â
âI have not!â
âWhat do you call that move you did with your foot nudging my dick while I was ordering?â he growled, kissing your neck in-between his breathy love bites.
âMy shoes! Our bill!â you complained, realizing your heels were still laying under the table at the restaurant.
âIâll get you new ones and I already paid the bill. Now hold still so I can dominate you,â Five gleefully demanded, as you squirmed.
When he finally let up, so you could catch your breath, you got a better look around his bedroom. It was small. There was the queen bed you were on, a side table next to it with a lamp on top, and piles of books on the floor everywhere. Other than a bathroom door to your right and what appeared to be an equally small living room, just outside the door, with a kitchen area attached, that was Fiveâs home.
You loved all of it, from his boyishly blue plaid comforter, to the worn but cozy look of his single sad recliner.
You put your hand in the middle of his chest, lifting yourself on your elbow to gaze at him. Turning his fingers around yours, Five drew you closer with his arm, sitting you up with him.Â
In a much quieter game, he let his fingers play up your spine, each little bump like a run on a ladder he was climbing up your back.Â
Enchanted by the way he is looking as you were by his featherlight touch; your breath quickened all over again.
With a smile, licking his lips, Five slipped his hand down the back of your dress, loosening your bra until it fell out of his way. His dark hair brushing your chin, his mouth came down, gently covering your nipple through your thin cotton bodice. Hot and wet, he kissed you there, soiling the fabric as he sucked, then kissed again.Â
After a moment, he turned his attention to your other breast, the innocence of his expression as he enjoyed you that way so sweet you could cry.
On your knees already, raising your arms at his insistence, Five took your dress up over your hips, then over your head, tossing it aside.Â
Kissing you full on the mouth, your bare body trembled under his hands as he tugged at the thin straps at your hips, pulling your underwear down until he couldnât.Â
Breaking away to kick out of them, he said, âI love these tiny pink panites. I hope the stripper you stole them from doesnât ask for them back.â
Laughing and fully exposed, there was little shame left in you, but there was still shyness. You lowered your gaze, and Five took care of that by giving you hundreds of kisses until you became completely unaware of anything but how you felt about him.
You held the back of his neck as you kissed, the longer ends of his hair tickling the back of your hand. In turn, Five brought one hand back to your breasts. He held the weight of them in his palm as he squeezed and rubbed you and made small, short sounds of enjoyment into your mouth as he did so.Â
His smile was on the darker side of playful as he caught you by the shoulders and brought you down on his bed. There was no demand in how he positioned himself next to you. His hair a chaos of brown from you messing with it, he reached out, the tips of his fingers brushing your cheek. âI'll be sorry for treating you the way I have been until the day I die.â
âYou are forgiven,â you whispered as you pressed your face into his left palm. You pulled at his sleeves, pulling the warmth of his body over your chilled skin.
Five hissed between his teeth when you took your adoring kisses sideways, to his jaw, then his throat. When the tip of your tongue came out, tasting him, his hands tightened on your arms, and a soft sound of surprise crept out of his throat.Â
His fiery gaze looked almost apologetic when he pulled back. You gently touched his face and Five closed his eyes as though he couldn't bear to look at you while you explored his lips with your thumb. âYour affection is more than I would have ever asked for,â he breathed, before kissing the tip of your finger.
Opening his eyes, there was that reflection of sadness, something that ran so deeply and painfully in him that it only made you more determined to change that.Â
As your hands moved down the sides of his vest, his drifted to your thighs, rubbing slowly.
âIâm wearing way too many clothes,â he cutely laughed when you tried to get your hands under his shirt but were hardly able to move them once you did due to the tight fit of his vest.
âYes, you are,â you giggled. âWe need to do something about that.â
In a burst of light, Five vanished and reappeared just as fast, his naked body flawlessly pale as he pushed his groin against yours, his hard cock glistening as it bobbed against your lower belly.
âHowâd you do that!â you gasped.
He smirked. âIf I explain it, then I have zero surprises left.â
Reaching down, taking himself in hand, this time when Five slipped inside you, the feel of him slowly filling you was enough to make your eyes water.
Grabbing for his shoulders, you hooked your ankles around his waist, your body simultaneously clenching around him as it tried to resist his entry.
Five stopped, his face full of worry.
âKeep going,â you urged, digging your feet into his lower back.
Pulling himself out, undulating his swollen tip at your entrance a few times, Five slipped his cock back in just as slowly, both of your eyes crushing closed the sensation of it felt so good. Doing it again, he accidentally slipped out all the way. Fumbling between you, grasping at his swaying cock, he lowered himself over you even more, letting out a guttural curse of pleasure as he entered you again.
Pushing his hands under your butt, he hoisted you up, rocking his hips against yours in earnest as he tried to kiss you, his lips grazing yours with each downward thrust.
Head getting pushed back further and further into his pillows, you began to match his urgent movements. Working together, his sharp thrusts ignited something inside both of you. Your fingernails digging into his shoulders, you started to see stars, everything inside you suddenly exploding when you felt the heat of his release.
Crying out this name, every exhalation streaming from your lips matched the throbbing of your orgasm that was not letting up as Five kept thrusting, the sound of him fucking you as sinful as it was wet.
When Five did pull out, your back arched on the bed, the emptiness of losing him and the sight of his rigid cock still ready to go shocking you as much as the darkness in his eyes.
Without a word, he flipped you on your stomach.
As Five came down over you from behind, his spent cock easily slid back in, and just as fast, he started to rut, rough and needful, punishing your quivering walls all over again.
You squirmed, the feeling of it too much, but Five pressed his hand against your upper back, pressing you against his bed, forcing you to arch into him as he kept at it, fucking you at an unrelenting pace.Â
A minute in, he wasnât slowing, his thrusts sliding into you so deeply the force of it kept causing his headboard to bang into the wall
âFive!â you cried as you pulled at his bedding.
âIâm not stopping until I fill this fluttering cunt!â he growled.
Not even close to being over your first shivered round of aftershocks, he did just that, emptying himself in erratic spurts and uncoordinated thrusts.
Prying his hands from your hips, Five rolled you on your back. Blanketing you with his body, he started placing delicate touches of his lips on your cheeks, his long eyelashes brushing along your skin with the softness of an angel, while his fingers worked between your legs, gathering his leaking come so he could carefully and repeatedly push it back inside you until you surrendered to him all over again.
Helplessly quivering, you buried your fingers in his sweat-dampened hair as he took his kisses to your neck, then added a few final nibbles to your ear. Five seemed incapable of moving further than that, the tenderness of how he was nuzzling you, echoed in the throbbing fullness you felt.
When he finally sat back, it was only to reposition himself alongside you. He rested his cheek against the top of your head, squeezing his arms around you tightly.Â
Feeling his warmth mingle with yours as you snuggled into him, you heard him yawn.
âTired of me already? Was that a sign you want me to go?â you teased.
âThis business we just did is hardly what I would call tiresome, and you arenât going anywhere. I am not done with you yet,â he joked, but his hold not letting up meant he wasnât actually kidding.
As you touched his hair, searching through it with your fingers. His limbs relaxed the longer you kept at it, his hand placed over your belly circling slower and slower. Your feet wrapped around his shins locking him to you even more surely, and with it, his breathing slowed along with his hand coming to a stop.
âAre you falling asleep, Five?â you softly asked.
His chest moved up and down against your side along with his quiet laugh. âSleep is for the blameless, and I am not that. If you can wait a few minutes, Iâm happy to give you round two with a fresh lesson on what you're dealing with since it seems you forgot already?â
âI think you already made your point that you are the cutest fiend to ever walk the Earth,â you laughed. âIt sounds fun, but I doubt either of us has enough steam for that lesson right now no matter what you claim.â
âHoney, I am like a jackrabbit,â Five chuckled. âFor all you know, I can bring you to unmanageable heights of ecstasy with this next one.â
You gave a playful tug of his hair.
Five nudged the top of your head with his face. It wasn't a kiss. But it didn't need to be. The way he was holding you, you knew that everything had changed.Â
âWe can go back to taking care of business in the morning,â you assured.
âThere's always the morning,â he agreed, slurring slightly.
Soon, listening to this heartbeat step into a cadence of sleep, feeling the warmth of Fiveâs body next to yours, you drifted off in peace along with him, and you did the same thing together every night after that.
Chapter 9: Tiresome Work
âAre you free to chat for a few minutes?â you asked, gently clicking the large door closed behind you as you entered Fiveâs office.
âIâm always free for you,â he said, looking up from his desk.
Coming around next to him, you propped your bottom up on his mess of papers.
âHowâs your day?â you asked, your eyes traveling from his soft pink lips, down to his neck, then to the relaxed motion of him spreading his legs as he leaned back in his chair.
âItâs getting better now that youâre here,â he replied, followed by a mischievous grin.
Doing your best to remember why youâd come in, the reason for it in your hand, you extended him your notebook. âWould you be willing to look this over? I think the numbers look good, but Iâd appreciate a second brain on this one just in case I missed something.â
âIâll look at it, but I doubt you missed anything. You never do,â he replied, his eyes smoldering. He patted his knee. âWhy donât you sit here and let me entertain you. You need a break.âÂ
Your cheeks instantly flushed, and the more Five gave you that predatory look the worse it got.
You didnât move so he raised a brow.
âCome here,â he hotly demanded.
Hopping up, Five quickly snatched your waist, pulling you to him faster than you were already coming.
âWe are supposed to be working,â you scolded, as he trapped you between his legs with his hand tickling up your back.
âWe covered this already. This is us working,â he said, following your every movement with wolfish fixation.Â
Trying to rattle him as much as he was flustering you, you broke away, half-heartedly attempting to organize the millions of items on his desk.
âThat sign you are playing with says Iâm the boss! Now get over here!â he angrily insisted, but not without laughing.
Giving you the sexiest smile youâd seen on him yet, one that was all dimple and shiny white teeth, Five patted his knee again.
Feeling silly, you perched your bottom on his knee.
With hardly anything between you and his finely woven pants, the bones of Five's knee purposefully pressed into you.
âNow then, isnât that better?â he taunted as he leaned forward, his lips grazing the side of your neck.
âFive Hargreeves, you are a bad man.â
âAnd you like it,â he coolly replied with his hand coming up to fondle your breasts.
The room felt like it was on fire already, but everything got warmer when his fingers parted, slicing across the peaks in your blouse, softly catching on your nipples before his warm palms slid over them again.
Feeling like a drunken sailor, you swayed in his lap. Trying to steady yourself, you extended the tip of your shoe to the floor, but Five nudged his knee into you with a little lift of his foot, his hands locking you in your seat to prevent your escape.
Plucking at you until your nipples were visible through the delicate fabric covering them, your small whines and the wetness spreading between your legs were met with his cocky grunt of approval.
âFive, there are dozens of people outside that door,â you said, shutting your eyes tight when he gave you a pinch.
âSo,â he deadpanned.
The second you tried to get up again, he let out a growl, simultaneously biting into the crest of your shoulder, the feel of it all making your head roll back on your shoulders as your next broken moan filled his entire office.
âNever mind. Please donât stop,â you breathed, as his magical lips pressed against the edge of your jaw.
âI wasnât going to,â he shushed. âThis is the most important thing I have left to do here, I say fuck these numbers you brought me. Youâre the one who shouldâve always been checking my math. My sole purpose now that I have you to do the brain work is fucking you.â
âFive,â you moaned as you shifted your weight on his thigh, desperate to relieve the pressure.
âMmmm?â he replied.
âYou are driving me crazy.â
âI know, but I need to get this baby inside you and seal this deal,â he insisted, kissing you with even more vigor, his mouth sucking at your skin as he moved his hand down between your legs, massaging your swollen folds through your underwear.
âYes. I understand that butâŚbut we maybe already did seal that deal,â you stuttered. âAnd if that really is what you are trying to do right now again anyway, it canât be in here.â
With another quick nip at your throat, Five said, âThis is my office, and I intend to use it in any way I please. I earned it, damn it!âÂ
âYou did earn it,â you said with a breathy laugh, shifting your weight again, trying to turn towards him and put your feet on the floor. âBut we should at least lock the door.â
âStay put!â he barked, but it had no bite to it because he was trying to paint a silky line with his tongue along the shell of your ear.
Biting your lower lip next to distract you, flipping his hand out from under your skirt, Five pinched your firm nubs of flesh again, not with pain, but with shocking effect. You gasped as a burning jolt of electricity detonated between your thighs.Â
âPlease hurry,â you weakly begged him, the pressure of his knee under you both good and bad at that point.
His fingers gripped under your jaw, moving your face towards his. âThereâs no hurry, honey. Daddy is the boss here and everyone knows about us anyway,â he whispered, velvety soft.
You opened your mouth to what, at this point, and with that daddy comment, you didnât even know anymore, but Five was quick to cover your mouth, his index finger pushing your lips open.
âSuck it like you want to suck me,â he directed as his other hand moved up, slowly opening the buttons on your shirt, stopping when he had enough of them undone to get his hand inside.
âJust like that,â he softly hummed as he watched you caressing the length of his finger with your lips and tongue. Breathing in, his nose brushed along your hairline. âSuch a good girl.â
Pulling his finger from your mouth, he reached under your skirt, his wet finger trailing up your thigh, nudging under your panties.
âGod, I needed this,â Five adorable whimpered, his thumb pressing down on your pubic bone as his finger slipped inside you, slowly pumping in and out.
âOh, oh-fuu-ah-kkkkk! Faster!â you helplessly yelped as you ground down your weight against his leg, your hips frantically jutting into his hand.
His finger pumped faster. âCome on, baby. Come for me,â he encouraged,
Your ability to formulate thoughts going all to hell, nothing but gibberish spilled from your mouth. âMmmm-ahhh-fff, yyyy-e-sssss.â
Adjusting himself, spreading his legs wider to accommodate the tent his erection was making in his pants, he said, âMore?â
âYes,â you moaned.
The rhythm of his hand changed, and a second finger added to his thrusting while his thumb kept fondling your clit with enough pressure to make your head spin.
Gripping the front of Fiveâs vest in a lame attempt to ground yourself, he began placing a path of kisses along the side of your neck. âMy heart beats for you,â he said, his voice deep with longing that matched the look in his worshipful eyes.
Your legs spread embarrassingly wide, the backs of your heels knocking against his shin, you rocked on his knee, your building climax pulsing to a roaring scream. Five kept going at it, not letting up the pace or intensity of his finger repeatedly hooking inside you, drawing out moan after moan.
Your eyes droopy, he grinned at you like this was the best thing heâd ever done while at work, which was ridiculous considering his desk was littered with all the plans he was putting in place to fend off any future apocalyptic events that could threaten the existence of humanity.
Blowing your mind and making you come so hard you couldnât see straight was hardly important compared to all that, but he didn't seem to think so. He was so beautiful, you could have sat there all day, dreamy admiring the shape of his eyes and their soft lines of happiness, but when he withdrew his fingers, it shot you back into reality.
At the sound of Diego walking by, talking loudly, and Lila smart talking back at him, you instantly started to get up.
Smirking, Five got up too while sucking his newly freed digits in his mouth, licking them clean.
Weak with orgasmic afterglow, you pressed your face against his collar, contentedly breathing in his warmth. âLetâs go somewhere where I can take care of you,â you said, nuzzling him.
âI need you to take care of me right here, love. I have a good feeling about this spot,â he whispered.
You were crushed speechless all over again by the way Five called you love, but it wouldnât have mattered anyway if you found a way to argue because his mouth molded to yours, opening it with the force of his kiss, so he could use his tongue to tangle and tease you into submission.
When Five did relinquish ownership of your mouth, it was only to spin you around, so your backside was facing him again. From there, he released you and started fumbling with his clothing, the sound of his zipper coming down just before the metal of his belt clanked to the floor.
You reached for the desk in anticipation, thinking he was going to lay you out, chest down over his mess of papers so he could fuck you from behind, but instead, his hand latched onto your waist as he pulled you back with him, towards his desk chair.
âShow me you love me the way I love you,â Five breathed, the back of his legs bumping his seat as his cock prodded between the legs.
You hesitated, not sure what you were supposed to do, so Five plopped himself down in his chair, clarifying when he said, âSit down.â
The pointed toe of his dress shoe rubbed against the inside of your ankle, further making his intent known. His hands brushed along your thighs, lifting your skirt, then he pushed your panties down.
Reaching back, you put your hands on his armrests. Lowering your body, he stopped you short, hovering over him.
The heat of his length ran along, gathering the wetness heâd already drawn from you. His swollen tip moving back and forth had you holding your breath and the tightening coil of desire inside you clenching with renewed need.
After several more passes, Five lined himself up. âThis time, Iâm going to fuck you so deep, thereâs no way my boys wonât be able to stick their landing.â
âOh, my God, Five,â you laughed.
âPlease, honey, sit down!â he frantically laughed back.
Smiling like a fool, you began to lower yourself over him again, but almost right away as he entered you, it felt like you were being impaled by the girth of his rock-hard shaft, and you had to stop. âFi-fff -vvvv- â you sputtered. âItâs too much like this Iââ
âI know, just go slow, Iâve got you,â he said, sure to keep his hands under your bottom to support some of your weight.
Giving you all the time you needed, Five shifted back, his chair creaking from his weight. His hiss of satisfaction when your body took in more of his cock was met by your teeth stabbing into your bottom lip.
âFuuuuuckâŚâ Five groaned, echoing your silent sentiment exactly.
Forcing yourself to take it, adjusting your body down on him until you were sitting all the way down in his lap like he requested, you were shaking like a leaf.
His lips pressed under your ear. âI am hopelessly in love with you,â he whispered.
âOh, Five,â your voice trembled as he buried his face against your neck.
âFuck me,â he ordered in a maddingly cocky tone.
Knowing full well he was smiling, you started rocking your hips. Almost right away, to your delight, Five placed his hands over yours on his arm rests, his knuckles going white.
His breaths started to rush out of his mouth, moist against your throat. When you started bringing your body up and down, sliding his cock in and out, deep then shallow, he fell back, breathing a quiet chorus of profanities.
âYou like that?â you cheekily asked, bouncing on his cock in a way that felt so good for you, you never wanted the feeling to end.
âFuck yes I like it!â he groaned. âWhy the fuck did I wait until today to make you sit on my dick like this. We should have been doing it this way, every day, three times a day!âÂ
Working your bottom up and down, taking him in and out, faster and faster, his head flopped back against his leather chair.
Smiling, just thinking about the fucked-out face Five was probably making, you said, âFive, I loved you even before I met you. Thereâs no one else in this world I love as much as you.â
âI can think of someone,â he groaned, âbut Iâm okay with that since that little charmer is going to be the son I am going to give you right now.â Kissing your shoulder, he grabbed you by the curve of your waist, pressing his fingers to your stomach, increasing the pressure inside you.
Jolted with each thrust of his hips meeting your ass, his hand at your waist lifted you up and down, allowing his cock to slide into you as deep as it would go.
âYouâre mine now!â he growled.
His teeth sank into the crest of your shoulder blade.
âOh, fuuuuuckkkk,â you cried, as he hummed his reverberated delight, his teeth marking you as if you werenât already his.
Before the pain of his love bite became too much Five let go, his breaths coming fast as his sharp grunts. âAre you getting close? Because I can go at any time,â he huffed, ruthlessly railing you, his heels digging down on the floor as he thrust his hips up and down.
âUh-huh,â you replied, unable to say more as you struggled to stay over him and not melt into a puddle of mushy bones in his lap.Â
Your body shuddered, your breaths not enough. Your body reactively clamped down on his cock, repeatedly spasming. The second Five felt it, he filled you, his own body jerking and twitching as he erratically slowed to a stop and sank back in his seat.
His grip loosened as he let you down in his lap. His cock throbbing inside you, the final pulses of his release and the burning of your thighs overwhelming both your senses.
You were on fire, and the sweat on his brow proved that heâd just pushed himself to the point of glorious ruin too.
âI wasnât expecting that when I came in here,â you quietly laughed, laying against him, your chest heaving with his as you reached back to run your fingers through his hair.
Just then, the door burst open. You jolted upright, but Fiveâs arm instantly flexed, refusing to let you off his lap.
âHey, Five?â Luther said, stepping in the door, still looking behind him as he took the package one of the mail room staffers handed him as they whisked by. âOh! Hey, guys,â he corrected, looking up, seeing you and nothing but the upper half of your bodies.Â
Coming closer, thinking Five was just showering you with affection like he almost always was, Luther said, âSloane wanted me to invite you toâ"
He stopped mid-sentence, his eyes locked on the sight of his brotherâs lap as it came into full view.
Your skirt was hiding the worst of it, but with Fiveâs pants tangled around his ankles, there was no way Luther couldnât tell that he was imposing himself on you from behind.Â
âWhat is going on!?â he yelled, covering his face with the cardboard box that had Fiveâs name on it. âGuys! We are at work! I mean⌠Wow this is not appropriate!â
âWhat is going on is, Iâm working,â Five calmly informed him. âItâs a well-known fact that when doors are shut, itâs for a reason, so this one is on you. And sure. We would love to join you and Sloane for dinner. Thank you.â
Fiveâs chin came to rest on your shoulder as he cooly stared at his brother.Â
When Luther just stood there, too shocked to move, Five gave him a much clearer dismissal.Â
âGet the fuck out, jackass,â he said as sternly as he could make it sound, which wasnât even remotely threatening because he was laughing as he said it.
Luther huffed a few more words of confusion, then, fumbling around blindly, he eventually made his way back to the door.
When you were alone again, Five grinned. âWould you like to go for another ride, my love?â
Chapter 10: Ad Infinitum
Less than a month later, Five moved in, taking center stage from Herb.
âItâs been said several times tonight by others,â he began as the lights shone down on him, all people who worked for him anxiously waiting to hear what he had to say, âbut I am going to say it again because you deserve it from me.â
Five glanced your way, looking so handsome.
Sitting in the row behind him filled with other board members, your ankles were crossed, and your heads were neatly placed in your lap. You were doing your best impression of a dignified businesswoman who hadnât just spent her afternoon with your back on his desk and your heels resting on his shoulders, but the second his eyes met yours, your flush gave you away.
Having lit you on fire with nothing but a happy quirk of his lip, Five turned back to the crowd. âI personally want to thank all of you for your hard work prior to me coming on as your Director and especially after. Without all of you, this place never would have happened,â he explained, drawing a small applause of agreement from the crowd. âThe last few months have been hard, but I know that what we have accomplished is worth it and it will make a world of difference.âÂ
Five laughed softly, almost too quiet to hear, but it was very him, and with it, it was impossible not to fall for his charms.
âI mean that quite literally,â he chuckled. âThe changes we have made will end up saving the world, probably many times over.â
It was no secret what you all did at The Commission and averting the end of days was sort of your thing, so that got quite a few laughs from his audience and Five nodded knowingly before moving on.Â
âWhether you wanted to or not,â he continued, âby now, everyone here knows me in some way or another, and Iâll be the first to admit, I donât make knowing me easy. I am an asshole and always have been, so sorry about that.âÂ
Five made the motion of physically shrugging that off and that got more laughter filling the large auditorium.
His warm smile grew a little more.
âIâm an asshole, and I am working on it, just ask the very patient woman I hired to keep me in-line. Iâm a work in progress, and probably always will be,â he joked.
He pressed the palms of both his hands on the slanted surface of the podium, a prominent line forming between his dark eyebrows.Â
âLong ago, I made a horrible mistake, and I continued to make many more mistakes after that, and I paid for it, and my family paid too, over and over. The last thing I wanted to happen were the things that did.âÂ
Five paused, his pained gaze directing downward as a loose lock of his hair fell, concealing the sadness in his eyes.
âBut,â he said, forcing his voice to sound brighter again as he looked up, âItâs time to move on and look to our future.â
His lips pulled to the side.Â
âAs we all know, Iâm wrong a lot.â He sniggered at himself. âI couldnât fix all of this on my own and I never should have tried.â
He turned and winked at you and your face instantly lit up and your heart skipped a beat.
âEveryone here is a family,â he said, still looking at you. âWe are a team, and we will never stop fighting as one, but The Temps Aeternalis was never meant to be an organization that only preserved life,â he insisted, looking back towards the lights. âWe are here to live it to its fullest with the people we love. Thatâs what makes us human. Thatâs the real reason we are here. To support that idea.â
Five looked over to his right at the rest of the board members, his eyes landing on Lila and Diego.
Seeing that Five was ready for them, Lila pushed herself up, giving him one of her overdone eye rolls and a hand at her mouth, intentionally drawing attention to her big, bored yawn as she approached. Behind them, Diego stood up too and began nervously shuffling his papers with his back turned to the audience.
At Fiveâs side, Lila smiled. âThat was one hell of a speech. Sure took long enough, you old sap,â she complained, but Five merely smiled back at her equally affectionately, not taking the bait to verbally spar with her. Â
Knowing that it would drive her nuts, he swept in, pulling Lila in for a big hug, smooshing her to his chest. Lilaâs arm quickly found its way around his back, holding him just as tight.Â
âI still think that you are a little piss-pot, you know that, right?â she whispered, while trying to hide that she was getting choked up by rubbing her runny nose all over on the arm of his suit jacket.
âI know how much you love me, and stop wiping your boogers on me,â Five said, scowling at her but it was so fake even the people in the back row knew it.
He pulled away, but not before giving her his pocket square. Then he leaned into the mic moving along to an epic finish.
âI am truly honored that you all entrusted me to make this organization into something in the end that we can all be proud to be a part of, and going forward I look forward to working with you all in a much less hands-on capacity.â
As murmurs from those who didnât see this coming filled the room, his brother stepped up behind him and Five dropped a hand on his shoulder, squeezing it reassuringly.
Diego looked nervous but Five knew he was ready for this. Like so many things they were taught to think by Reginald that were wrong, Diego was never a second to anyone.
He was a leader and always had been, and his well-timed words of advice when it came to seeing things clearly with you would always mean the world Five.
When the votes came in, he was not at all surprised to see that Diego came in at the top to replace him. Diego was a perfect choice to shake things up around there and Five looked forward to stepping back in from time to time to watch his brother in action.
Hearing Diego take a long breath while he enthusiastically shook himself like he was about to spring into a scuffle, fists swinging like a boxer in the ring, Fiveâs proud, and somewhat exasperated smile got even bigger.
He looked back out over the podium.
âI am officially stepping down, and so is our Co-chair. Thanks to her, Iâm going to be a daddy, and I canât live another day with taking a little time away to enjoy that miracle with her,â he declared, giving everyone the good news.
The entire crowd stood and started giving their departing Director and you a standing ovation filled with excited whistles.
âItâs about time for that vacation,â Klaus yelled through his cupped hands with Viktor next to him, much less boisterous but equally thrilled in his enthusiastic clapping.
Motioning for the room to quiet but getting little back other than more clapping and shouts of encouragement, Five proudly said, âIt is my honor to give you, Diego Hargreeves, our new Director, and his second in command, or first, however you want to look at it, your Co-Chair, Lila Hargreeves.â
Stepping aside, with a wave of his hand, motioning for Diego to take the mic, the echo of clapping didnât stop and neither did the calls of well wishes for both the amazing man walking away, and the one trying and failing to get them to calm down.
Coming back to his empty seat next to yours, Five took your waiting hand into his, holding it tight as he whispered, âI love you.â
âI love you too,â you mouthed back, smiling so hard it hurt.
As you stood together, cheering for Diego, it finally sunk in for Five.
This was it. The reason for it all.
Finally, he could start living life as he wished, and he couldnât wait to do it with you by his side and his new baby boy in his arms.
âWould it be enough if I could never give you peace?â
~~~
You never thought thereâd be the day where you and Five would live together.Â
Youâve always pictured getting your own place, maybe even a cat, and living that beloved domestic life, but you didn't think it would actually happen.
It seemed like every single time you thought you were safe, another problem quickly made itself known.Â
But itâs been a few months since the universe was reset, so you finally started to let your guard down.Â
There seemed to be no apocalypse or assassins following the two of you around in your new lives.
That weight had left your shoulders, yet you could tell it still weighed Five down.Â
You were both living normal lives now, blending in with the world around you.
Each of the Hargreeves siblings had gone down their own path in life for the second time, and it was time for Five to have the comfortable, normal life youâd always hoped he would have.
Five worked with the CIA, while you worked at a cafĂŠ a couple blocks away from your apartment.
He initially wanted you to stay home, knowing he could provide more than enough for the both of you, but he knew you wanted to live your own life too.Â
Now that you had all the time in the world, he watched as you gradually grew into your best self.Â
You explored hobbies, gaining exciting interests you never knew you had, which he admired so dearly.Â
All he ever wanted was to see you so happy.Â
But the constant fear of allowing himself to be happy and settled only for that to be ripped away from him never left his mind.Â
After the universe was reset and the two of you lost your powers, Five grew extremely anxious.Â
Sure, the two of you had learned combative skills and you were both excellent at defending yourselves, but what if?Â
That question burned through his mind.Â
What if the Handler came back?Â
What if the apocalypse came back?Â
What if someone hurt you?Â
What if he couldnât protect you?
âOuch-âÂ
Five looked down at his hand, turning slightly pink after he burned it against his mug.Â
âYou okay?â you asked from your seat at the island in your kitchen, looking up from your book.
You had noticed he was particularly stressed today, but you could tell he didnât feel like talking about it.Â
He had checked the lock on the door at least four times now. Even the balcony doors were locked with the curtains drawn, blocking the moonlight from entering the mostly dark apartment.
You knew it was hard for him to adjust to a normal life. He had been so focused on surviving for so many years he forgot what it was like to live.Â
You had tried to help him, and sometimes it worked. He would dance with you while your Frank Sinatra records played in your cozy living room. He would try out new recipes with you.Â
You loved it most when you could just enjoy each other's company, without a care in the world how much time had passed, because it was never a waste.Â
The two of you would spend hours together, wrapped up in each other arms or simply leaning on each other. Sometimes you would talk, sometimes you would just enjoy the intimate silence.Â
You didnât like the silence now though, as you watched his furrowed brows and shaking hands.Â
You knew it was hard for him to bring up how he felt. His family always shoved his feelings so far down their list of problems he never felt like they would be important to you.Â
As much as you reassured him he could always talk to you about anything, he still didnât want to be a burden.Â
âIâm fine,â he picked up his mug with one hand and walked around the island over to you. He held your head and pressed a kiss to your hair.Â
âIâm heading to bed,â he said quietly, âLove you.â
You smiled, âLove you, Iâll be there in a minute.âÂ
As he walked into your shared bedroom, you couldnât help but worry about the man you cared so much about, and you wish you knew how to help him.Â
~~~
It was happening again.Â
He was running.Â
There was so much smoke.Â
So many flames.Â
So many bodies.Â
He frantically looked around, until his eyes landed on the one body he couldnât handle seeing in such a state.Â
He was too late. If only he ran faster, if only he couldnât stopped this, if only he couldâve saved you.Â
His knees hit the gravel.
He screamed but he couldnât hear himself.Â
He hear your voice calling for him
 Your mouth was undefinable, but he could tell it wasnât moving.Â
The smoke filled his lungs. He couldnât breathe
âFive!âÂ
~~~
He sat straight up. The cold air hit his sweat covered chest as the sheets flew forward.Â
He was still screaming as he tried to pry his eyes open with his hands, scratching the vision out of his head.Â
You were still saying his name and you reached for his eyes, grabbing them tightly and bringing them away from his face.Â
His eyes were bloodshot and he was shaking intensely, but once his sight focused on you he caged you in with his arms and started bawling.Â
You had never witnessed one of his nightmares get so bad.Â
Of course, heâd had several ever since youâd moved in together but heâs never been this disturbed by one.
You could feel his tears in your hair and you could slightly make out his muffled chanting.Â
âI canât, I canât, I canât.â
Your heart was breaking just seeing him like this, you couldnât bear him so distressed.
You tried to calm him down as he held you, with soothing whispers and coos to calm his breathing and heart rate.Â
Once he seemed less frantic, you peeled his arms off you and sat in front of him, holding his hands.Â
âWhat happened?â You asked him softly, brushing his hair off his forehead.Â
He looked as though we were going to cry all over again but he looked down and said, âI lost you.âÂ
âIt wasnât real, Five,â you reassured him, âIâm right here, Iâm okay.â
You held his face in your palms, looking into his green eyes.Â
It pained you to see him so worried.
He held his hand over yours, âI just want you to be safe.â
âI am,â you smiled sadly at him.Â
âWe donât have to worry about the apocalypse anymore,â you reassured him, âThereâs no more commission. Thereâs nothing coming after us, weâre safe.âÂ
He signed, taking your hands off his cheeks and holding them in his lap, tracing the lines along your palms.Â
âI want more than anything for you to feel safe, Five. I donât want to see you so scared to live a normal life, one that weâve been fighting for so long for.âÂ
A tear ran down his cheek, which you wiped away with your thumb.Â
âIâm sorry,â he said, âI just- I want you to be happy. I donât mean to bother-â
âPlease donât,â you cut him off.Â
You grabbed the comforter and pulled it over the two of you, tucking you both in.Â
As you faced him, you said, âYou donât need to apologize.âÂ
Pulling him in, you felt his face bury into your chest as your fingers combed through his dark hair. His breathing slow, his body warm against you, his heart rate slowing.Â
âAs long as I get to live this life with you, Five, Iâm happy.âÂ

your wildest dream, his nightmare
Five Hargreeves x Reader Synopsis: Walking into Maxâs diner as a respite after you and Five are seemingly stuck you donât think you couldâve imagined a better outcome surrounded by various versions of your lover. At the same time, for him itâs nothing more than a bad dream he hopes will end soon. Word count: 760 Tags: Fluff, Jealous Five, Crackfic Note: This small fic because it's funny to imagine jealous Five being jealous of himself
âCome onâ
Five grabbed your hand as he led you out of the tube to, probably, another timeline. It must have been a few hours the two of you had been stuck in this place going station to station still with no idea how to get back.Â
You turned left but instead of being greeted with the usual blankness for Five to scribble about in his notebook you instead were somewhat blinded by the light of a sign.
âMaxâs delicatessen.â You made eye contact with Five to the side of you before tilting your head with a nod towards the building. He simply followed your lead before quickly grabbing the door to let you in first.Â
You turned back to smile in thanks when you noticed his shocked expression, head quickly turned back towards the diner at a call of your name to see the whole diner was made up of your lover. Looking back to Five, your Five, in bewilderment a shocked smile on your face.
The look on your face seemed to take him out of his stupor clearing his throat before leading you into the diner- trying to find an empty table for you to sit at. He was quickly stopped by another Five, one sat on his own, and gestured for the two of you to sit opposite him. Five begrudgingly agreed as he realised the restaurant was at max capacity. No spare table in sight.
You quickly shuffled onto the brown bench when the other Five spokeÂ
âItâs rare to see one of you around hereâ he smiled happy to see you
âMaybe this is not my typical sceneâ you rebutted a cheeky smile on your face that the Five opposite you seemed to enjoy, dimple now showing from smiling so wide
âMaybeâ he breathed out in a laughÂ
Before you could continue to speak with this version of Five another one appeared in front of you, this one not wearing a suit or vest. He quickly placed down a peanut butter and marshmallow sandwich in front of your Five. He then turned to you placing a very familiar drink in front of you
âYour favouriteâ he declared when you looked confused Â
âHow did you know?â You smiled at him eyebrows furrowing as his cheeks went red
âWe all know your favouritesâ he shrugged as if it was the most normal thing in the world
âUm- Thanksâ you nodded your head in gratitudeÂ
âAnything for the missusâ he mumbled before leaving to go back to the kitchenÂ
You took a sip of your drink when your Five spoke irritated âWhat was that about?â a hand possessively stroking at your thighÂ
âA lot of us having seen our version of her in a long timeâ the other Five spoke wistfully  Â
âHow sadâ you stated before turning around in your seat you waved and greeted the Fives around you who all became quite delighted at your attention all greeting you with a similar bravado.
âOkay.â Five declared âI think we are done hereâ he quickly at up pulling you up with him by grabbing hold of your hand once moreÂ
âBut we just got here, canât we stay a little longer and rest?â you asked not wanting to leave. I mean why would you, surrounded by multiple versions of the man who loved you, say no to having his attention on you?
âNo, we need to get back to my family in our timeline, come on. We are wasting time.â he rebutted practically pulling you away from the diner seemingly getting even more annoyed as the other Fives shouted goodbyes towards you.
âI didnât realise I was so annoying, that was a nightmareâ Five claimed as you sat on a train hopefully taking you back home
âSure you werenât jealous?â you quipped staring at him mischievously
âNoâ he grumbled arms crossing against his chest
âThen you wonât mind if I-â you spoke moving towards the doors to go back to the diner, quickly shutting up when Five grabbed your hands pulling you back onto the seat beside him. You simply smiled at his look of false ire towards you as the train started to move. Resting your head on his shoulder as he let a smile grace his features giving a kiss to the top of your head.
You hope that at some point you will get to return to the diner- a place you have just coined akin to heaven on earth.              Â

never changing [ five hargreeves x reader ]
a/n: hi yâall! itâs been a hot minute since iâve been on here, but after the absolute shit show that season 4 was, some sparks ignited in me to write up anything to take my mind off it đ
its not anything crazy, just fluff and banter since i havenât written anything in years so it may be as poorly redacted as this season lmao
summary: five and y/n attend their niece birthday party together, yet separate
âHappy birthday, little Gracie!â You smiled widely, trying not to drop the wrapped present box as the six year old girl jumped into your arms, âOh my gosh, look at you! Youâre just getting prettier by day, arenât you?â
You had just got off work in a hurry to make your appearance at the little girlâs birthday party at a decent time, in spite of the amount of paperwork you managed to bury yourself in lately. You knew how much it would have meant for the celebrated one to show up and you couldnât bear to let her down, especially on her birthday.
After spending most of your life working for the Commission, and then a decent amount of time exhausting yourself in trying to stop multiple Apocalypses, your last six years have been pretty quiet as a lawyer. You really wanted to get out of the whole assassin thing, but at the same time couldnât exactly move on from the thrill of the work field. Your career as a lawyer took off really well these past years, but inevitably it came along with the cost of always being stuck at work, so whenever your niece got the chance to see you, she was truly enthusiastic.
âAuntie Y/N!â She wrapped her tiny arms around your neck, engulfing you into a tight hug, âYou are here!â
Nonetheless, these six years have been truly and undeniably the most peaceful time of your life for as long as you could remember.
âYou literally saw each other the other day,â Five raised a brow, watching you and the celebrated one act as if you hadnât seen each other in years.
You and the little girl shared a look, before rolling your eyes and turning to glare at the man next to you. Ever since Grace learned how to talk, you and her would gang up on her uncle for your amusement, especially since he was so keen on entertaining the banter.
These past six year have gone by in the blink of an eye, yet at the same time at a slow and steady pace. You spent most of your time working anyway, but still kept in touch with the seven siblings youâd grown to love.
Some in different ways than others.
âUncle Five, youâre always more excited than me to see Aunt Y/N,â Gracie waved him off, making you burst out laughing, âJealousy isnât a good look on you anyway.â
âWhat is a good look on him anyway?â You smirked, making the little girl laugh, as Five swept her into his arms;
âOkay, munchkin, itâs your birthday today, but tomorrow Iâm going back to bullying you,â He joked, causing you both to laugh, before the two shared a hug before you, âYouâre lucky your gift has no return policy.â
The party had already started by the time you made it there. The playground was huddled by other kids around Graceâs age, along with their parents. The music was playing loudly over the laughter of children and you were pretty sure that most of the family had already arrived. It was not the most ideal gathering, but you tried your best to keep in touch with most of the family to your best capabilities.
âY/N, Iâm so glad you could make it!â Luther smiled, appearing from the crowd of guests, immediately giving you a big hug as his niece was still wrapped around Five, âHavenât seen you since Thanksgiving!â
âBig shot lawyer doesnât always have the time to stay in touch with family, huh?â Diego teased you, following suit, as you rolled your eyes, dropping off his daughterâs gift in his hands.
âBig shot delivery driver doesnât know the phone works both ways, huh?â You smirked, putting your hands on your hips.
Diego laughed out loud as he gave you a hug, always in the mood for a back and forth short banter with you. After all, you truly were family, even if you didnât always have the time to be present in the Hargreevesâ day to day lives. You may have met them in the original timeline in 2019, when you accidentally time traveled with your former partner at the Commission, Five, but after all youâve been through, you didnât need to have grown up together or be blood related to be considered that. And you truly were grateful for each and every single one of them, in spite of the many differences over the years.
After everything thatâs happened six years ago at Hotel Oblivion, everyone went their separate ways. Allison was back with her daughter while trying to further her acting career and also help Klaus stay on the sober line, Viktor had moved to Canada where he opened a bar, Diego and Lila had three kids, Luther was âprofessionally dancingâ, Ben had some run-ins with the law and Five, ironically enough, was working for the CIA.
âWell, you two are as annoying as always,â Ben told you and his brother, making Diego roll his eyes as he walked towards the gift table to set down your present.
âPlease try to stay out of prison at least for the remainder of the year,â You joked with the man, making him roll his eyes as he hugged you loosely, âThereâs only so much favors I could owe the DA.â
âShut the fuck up,â Ben groaned, âI donât even know why they let you work at the law firm since you still look like a prepubescent with no boobs. Even Five got a growth spurt.â
âI sized up to B recently, thank you very much,â You nudged his shoulder, before placing your hands on your chest in an offended manner.
âOkay, Gracie, not a conversation youâd wanna hear,â Five spoke up, putting his niece down, âYour aunt needs to learn some etiquette on how to act around children.â
âFunny coming from you,â You couldnât help but wave him off.
You didnât come in with Five at the party, but as fate had it, you did run into him as you were parking your car. He had just gone out to his brotherâs dusty van to bring inside some more cookies for the guests. You kept in touch with him as well, but not as often as you would have liked. Itâs not all that serious, but given the fact that you were a lawyer still climbing your way to the top and him being a top notch CIA agent, you didnât exactly have the time to hang out.
At least, not as much as youâd have liked.
Five was watching you with a small smile tugging at the corner of his lips, and his hands in his pockets. He had the same look on his face as always when watching you. He had the same smile when he saw you in combat for the first time during your first mission for the Commission together, the same look in his eyes when you appeared for the first time in 2019 alongside him in your teen bodies. The same posture he had when he met you again in 1963 after months of not seeing each other.
He wore the same love on his face while looking at you when you and the siblings split up after the events at Oblivion.
And never once did you notice that.
Not once in these past six years you let your feelings surface.
âYou know Grace is my niece too, right?â He couldnât drop the small smile even if he wanted to.
âSince when are you such a family man?â You raised a brow, trying to keep a confident composure.
âOh, something changed in me between the first and third time I traded the world for my siblings,â He lightly shrugged his shoulders, making you roll your eyes at the sarcastic remark.
You two never changed.
âPlease, I was there for the twins birth,â You waved him off.
You rarely see Five, and even when you do you always try to act normal, as you do around the rest of the Hargreeves. Everyone tried to get you two together at first, since the apocalypse was over and there was no reason for you to not get together, right?
You really wished it was that easy. In hindsight, maybe it was. But you couldnât take any chances in losing Five forever if something were to go wrong. Maybe some would see it as something stupid, or as if you wasted so many years, but to you- mentally, you were almost seventy, while physically nineteen. You had so much time ahead of you now, all that mattered was to get a stable career first.
Five let a chuckle escape, shaking his head in disbelief, as he looked at the floor for a couple of seconds. When he looked back at you, you tried to keep your composure. You couldnât help but feel pathetic that after all these years, your heart still skipped a beat whenever heâd look at you.
âYouâre doing that thing again where you forget that some other people are still around, guys,â Luther raised his hand, grabbing your attention once again.
âI got bored of watching seventy year old virgins,â Ben shrugged his shoulders, âIâm gonna go get shitfaced.â
âAlways a delight seeing you, Benjamin,â Five said, as Luther followed the ex-tentacle boy suit to make re he was not about to actually get drunk;
âThis is a six year oldâs birthday party!â
You giggled, watching the two brothers speed away while arguing amongst the kids in the crowd. When your eyes laid back on Five, who was intently watching you, you couldnât help but feel a small blush creep its way in your cheeks.
âWhat?â
âNothing.â
âSpit it out, Hargreeves.â
âI said itâs nothing!â
âFuck you.â
âWhy?â
You watched him dumbfounded for a couple of seconds because of the only answer he could come up with, before walking away, hoping he would follow you.
When he did try to keep up with you, you looked away to hide the proud smile. Even after all these years, things were still the same with him. He was still so eager to spend time with you, he was still smiling at you and entertaining your conversation.
âAunt Y/N, Uncle Five, come play in the ball pit!â Gracie ushered you from afar, already tucked in the plastic colorful balls.
âYou heard the birthday girl!â You smiled, grabbing his hand to drag Five after you.
Even after all these years he would instantly lock his fingers with yours.

May I request a five x reader where they are living domestically and just being happy and lovey dovey especially experiencing everything they did together while being in the apocalypse, the time commission, stoping the other apocalypses etc (five x Lila doesnât exist five x Lila doesnât exist five x Lilia doesnât-)
a/n: this piece is basically a big fuck you to s4 so enjoy five being happy and domestic with reader and not his own brotherâs wife. also five and reader are mentally older adults but physically in their twenties
warnings: language, fluff, mentions of pregnancy
summary: now that the timeline has been fixed and the world is no longer in danger, five can enjoy a peaceful life with you
The sunlight that bleeds through the curtains is almost blinding as Five begins to stir himself awake. Stretching out his limbs until he hears a satisfying pop, he lets out a sigh and moves to reach out for someone that isnât there. Your spot in bed is still warm which means you havenât been gone for long, but Five still rises with a sense of urgency when greeted with your absence. Call it muscle memory from dealing with multiple kidnapping ploys against you or an old habit that just wonât die off after having to remain vigilant when protecting you from the enemy, but the poor boyâs heart always skips a beat when you go missing.
He finds you in the kitchen brewing a fresh pot of coffee, your back to him as you hum along to the radio that plays on the counter and search for Fiveâs favorite cup in the cabinet. He has to pause and take a breath to remind himself that youâre not in danger, your life of protecting timelines and ending apocalypses is over, and the fresh start youâve made for yourselves isnât in any jeopardy. Youâre real, youâre alive, and youâre his.
âMorning,â Five softly calls with a careful smile as he rests a hand on the small of your back and presses a tender kiss to your lips.
âGood morning,â you great cheerfully before handing him his cup of coffee. âI didnât hear you get up. Did I wake you?â
âNot at all,â he assures you before taking a hearty gulp of the hot liquid. After years of being together you know how to make Fiveâs coffee just the way he likes it and could probably do so in your sleep if asked. Your thoughtfulness is just one of the many traits of yours that have him wrapped around your finger always.
âWe need to go grocery shopping,â you note dutifully as you peek your head into the fridge in search of breakfast. Frowning, you announce, âWeâre out of eggs, so I guess itâs frozen waffles for breakfast.â
âWhy donât we go out for breakfast today?â Five suggests with an innocent shrug.
âReally? But you hate breakfast places. They can never make your coffee right.â
âI also hate seeing you eat frozen waffles three days in a row,â he reminds you with a wry chuckle. Maneuvering you out of the way, Five closes the fridge shut and gives you a gentle nudge in the direction of your shared bedroom. âGo on, get dressed. You can wear that new dress you bought the other day.â
âYouâre right!â You exclaim with an excited gasp and rush off to your room before Five can change his mind. Not that he would, of course. Five would do anything to see you happy after all the shit heâs put you through in your time together. Sometimes he still wonders why you ever agreed to marry him, perhaps a slip of sanity or lack of care for your own wellbeing, but he wasnât one to complain. He liked living the quiet life with you, and he wouldnât change it for the world.
~~~
The night air is cool against your bare shoulders as you sit comfortably upon the porch swing and listen to the cicadas sing their evening song. The sun has long since set, but the string of lights that hang above you are enough to allow you to see the pages of your color by numbers book. Beside you, Five sits with a book in one hand while the other rests atop of your legs strewn across his lap. He enjoys sitting in the silence of your company as you remain glued together despite partaking in your own hobbies separately.
âWeâve been married for thirty years,â you state simply, breaking the silence but never once breaking your focus from your coloring book.
âSure have,â is Fiveâs thoughtful reply. Setting his book aside, your husband gives your calf a gentle squeeze and turns to look at your concentrated features.
âNot including your siblings, itâs always been just us. Together in the apocalypse, partners under the Commission, husband and wife.â
âIs that a bad thing?â He asks, not quite sure what point youâre trying to make. Are you rethinking the marriage? Are you finally starting to have regrets about marrying him? He watches with bated breath as you set your materials to the side and finally meet his anxious gaze.
âI want to start a family of our own,â you finally confess, nervously fidgeting with your wedding ring as you await his response with hopeful eyes. âI donât want it to be just us anymore.â
Sighing, Five leans his head back and shuts his eyes as he processes your request. He canât say heâs surprised by your question; heâs noticed the way you eye babies in public, how you linger just a little too long to admire the window display of the infant clothing store at the mall, how youâll hold the twins for hours in your arms and refuse to give them back until Diego has to physically pry them from your grasp. Itâs only natural for you to feel this way, but thatâs not the problem. The problem is Five isnât exactly sure how he feels about becoming a father.
âI donât know,â he admits carefully, taking great caution when choosing his next words so as to not upset you. âHaving a kid, becoming parents⌠it changes everything.â
âI know we couldnât before because there was the Commission and then the multiple apocalypses, and thatâs why I never asked. But Five,â you urge gently, shifting to sit yourself up on your knees so you can reach over and take both of his hands in your own, âall of that is done with. We fixed the timeline, and all that end of the world nonsense is over with for good. No one is coming after us anymore or trying to kill me to get to you. We can properly grow old now and have a simple life together, wasnât that always the goal?â
The boy is silent as he mulls over your speech. Youâre completely right; saving the world and resetting the timeline to its proper place in order to ensure you and his siblings could have the lives you deserved was always the end goal. But after spending his entire existence trying to complete that task, he finds it hard to adjust to his new life of normalcy. Perhaps heâs not exactly scared of becoming a parent, but scared of what a baby would mean in the grand scheme of things. It would be proof that his work is truly over now, that he can turn his survival mode off after having it set to fight for so many years, and thatâs a big adjustment for someone like him.
But when he looks at your hopeful gaze and sees the way you anxiously worry your lip between your teeth, he realizes that heâll do anything to give you the happy life you deserve. He brings one of your hands to his lips and holds it tight as he murmurs his answer into the skin of your palm.
âIf you think weâre ready, then Iâm in.â
âYou mean it?â You gasp while doing your best to withhold your excitement. Your eyes are wide and full of hope as Five lets out a soft chuckle before giving you a reassuring kiss.
âWe survived the end of the world several times, how scary could raising a baby really be?â
He isnât given an answer to his hypothetical question as you fling yourself into his arms and assault his face with multiple kisses along his skin. Itâs safe to say his answer has eased your anxieties, and the boy can only laugh as you express your gratitude.
âIâm so happy you agree!â You exclaim giddily, your hands coming to rest upon his chest to ground yourself as you then suggest to Fiveâs surprise, âLetâs start trying tonight!â
âWhat?â
~~~
âThat has to be the tiniest Hargreeves Iâve ever seen,â Klaus gushes adoringly as he takes in the details of the ultrasound photo in front of him. âLook at the little peanut, isnât it precious?â
âI canât believe Five is actually going to be a dad,â Allison notes in astonishment as the three of you turn your gaze to see him arguing with Diego over the proper way to baby proof your home while Ben eggs them on and ruins Lutherâs efforts at trying to keep the peace. Youâre only two months along, but Five is anxious to ensure that everything is perfect for your childâs arrival.
âYou know, you might just be the first 65 year-old woman to give birth,â Klaus points out cheekily. âYou should be in a world records book or something.â
âVery funny,â you retort sarcastically before taking back the ultrasound photo to hang up on the fridge. You falter for a moment when your eyes remain stuck to photo and your brain works on overdrive to commit the image to memory as best as you can.
âEverything okay?â Viktor asks after noticing the sudden change in demeanor.
âI just canât believe this is real,â you murmur quietly, blinking back tears that threaten to spill. âAfter everything weâve been through and everything weâve lost, I guess a part of me worries that one day Iâll wake up and this will all have been a dream.â
âI know how that feels,â Allison assures you with a comforting squeeze to your shoulder. âBut I promise you this isnât a dream, and whatever you need weâll be there.â
âBecause youâre family now,â Viktor adds on with a confident nod. âAnd we look out for family no matter what.â
âEven though at one point in our lives weâve all thought about killing each other,â Klaus notes humorously before giving you a tight squeeze.
âEverything okay over here?â Five asks, appearing at your side and placing a comforting hand on your back as you all turn your gazes towards the fridge and admire the newest addition to the family.
âEverything is perfect.â

Don't Stand So Close To Me
Five was doing his best to resist you. You were too young for him. Too eager. But when he decided to try and scare you straight, he got a little more than he bargained for. That's when he realized maybe he wasn't as strong as he thought he was.
Five x Female Reader-Insert, 6,700 words, One-shot
Warnings: Smut, explicit sex, everyone is an adult
This was born from a request I received for Five with a young(ish) woman that won't leave him alone. I have modified a few things, but I hope it still works! â¤ď¸
Five sighed and rolled his eyes when he saw you coming toward him. He had been balancing a bag of dry cleaning in one hand and cup of coffee in the other and was just about to chance blinking inside his apartment instead of using the door when he heard your greeting.
âDamn it,â he muttered to himself, wishing he had just risked spilling his beverage all over his newly pressed suits by disappearing inside. Now he was stuck.
âHere, let me help!â you chirped, jogging up to him.
âNo thanks, Iâve got it,â Five argued, but as he did so the bag of clothes nearly slipped from his hand.
âGot it!â you exclaimed with a smile, snatching up the bag.
Five gave a weary smile and another sigh. âThank you.â
âNo problem!â
As Five fished around in his pocket for his key, he tried not to make eye contact with you. Actually, he tried not to have anything to do with you most of the time. You just hadnât gotten the hint.
âWhat are you up to tonight?â you asked, and Five could hear the twinge of hopefulness in your voice.
âOh, you knowâŚthe same as usual. Make some dinner, watch Unsolved Mysteries, and go to bed.â He opened the door and took the dry cleaning from you. âTypical old man stuff.â
You nodded as if you knew exactly what he was talking about. You did know, in a way. You knew all about Fiveâs history, his powers, and his actual age. Itâs hard to keep that shit private when your entire life has been broadcast across the world for everyone to witness. Unfortunately, at least from Fiveâs point of view, you didnât seem to care.
You bit at your fingernail and looked down at the ground. Five wasnât about to invite you in, so he waited for an uncomfortable few seconds before speaking up again.
âOk, well, thanks for your help. Have a good night.â
âOhâŚok,â you said sadly. âGood night, Five.â
As Five stepped inside his apartment and flicked on the light, he draped his bag of suits over a chair, taking a sip of his coffee. He shoved a hand in his pocket and looked around his small, quiet apartment. It wasnât much; just a shitty one-bedroom with a miniscule kitchen. But that was all he needed. That and to be left alone.
Despite trying to keep a safe distance from you, you had yet to be deterred. Five knew you liked him; it was pretty obvious. Ever since he moved into the building, you hadnât missed an opportunity to corner him at the mailboxes, or in the hallway. Being trapped in the elevator was the most awkward, so Five tried his best to avoid those encounters by blinking around as much as possible. You always seemed to catch him, though.
It's not that Five didnât like you. You were sweet, and cute, and he would be lying if he said he wasnât flattered that you were so into him. The problem was that you were 21 and he was in his late sixties. Old enough to be your grandfather; at least mentally. Physically, he was in your same age range, which he assumed made things very confusing for you. While you did know all about his older consciousness, Five figured you conveniently forgot most of the time. Like when you wore those tiny little running shorts with a sports bra and decided to do some warm up stretches directly in front of his door.
Five wasnât fully immune to your little come-ons. He still had a pulse, after all. Not to mention the hormones and libido of a much younger man. StillâŚeven after all that he had witnessed and done throughout his life, he had managed to hold onto a couple scraps of morality. And only sleeping with women who were over the age of 30 was a personal rule of his.
He wasnât sure why he picked that age; it was still more than half of his. But he figured most peopleâs brains had fully matured by then and it made him feel like less of a sexual deviant. He hadnât had a date or any hook ups in a while, though. Most nights he just came back to his place and did exactly what he told you he did. Old man stuff.
As he stood there, contemplating all of this, there was a knock at his door. Five rolled his eyes yet again and set his coffee down. When he opened the door, there you were, as he suspected. You looked up at him with nervous eyes that couldnât quite hold his own while holding two large containers of food and a bottle of red wine.
âHi, again. What can I do for you?â
âHi, Five. So, it turns out I made too much food for dinner, so I wondered if you wanted some?â You held out the containers to him. âItâs spaghetti and a salad, and I had this bottle of wine that I thought would go well with it. Itâs nothing fancy, but I know youâre alone, so you probably donât have anyone to cook for youâŚâ Your voice trailed off and you looked away.
Five ran a hand down the back of his neck and looked down the hallway. No one else was around and he was hungry. He reached out to take the food, but left you holding the wine.
âThank you, thatâs really nice of you.â
Your eyes lit up at his compliment and you smiled. âOh, itâs no trouble at all. I cook all the time, so anytime you want me to make you something, just let me know. Iâm pretty good at it.â
Five chuckled. âI have no doubt that you are. It looks great.â He was about to go back into his apartment, when he looked back at your disappointed face. Shit. If he didnât invite this girl in, he was going to look like a real asshole. He was definitely going to regret this, though. âWould you like to come in and join me for dinner? Looks like you made plenty for both of us.â
âAre you sure? I donât want to impose.â
Five smiled gently and shook his head. âNo, youâre not. Come on in.â
After you stepped in, and Five busied himself making plates of food for the two of you, you set the wine on the kitchen table and looked around his place.
âWow, Iâm not sure what I was expecting, but this wasnât it.â
Five looked up while he opened the wine. âIsnât it just the same as your place?â
You nodded. âYeah, it is. Which is why Iâm surprised. I thought yours would be a littleâŚâ
âOld man-ish?â Five grinned as he handed you the glass of Pinot Noir.
ââŚsexier,â you answered with a sly grin, taking the glass from him.
Fiveâs eyebrows raised. âSexier?â
You shrugged and took a sip. âI donât know. I expected more black and leather. Like a real bachelor pad, you know?â
âYeah, thatâs not really me,â he said with a quiet chuckle. âIâm not exactly a swinging bachelor these days.â
You cocked your head to the side. âOh, no? How come?â
Five saw he had backed himself into a corner and he didnât really want to get into his love life with you, so he cleared his throat and gestured to the table. âFoodâs ready.â
As you sat across from one another at Fiveâs small dining table, the initial awkwardness began to wear off as the wine started taking effect. You became a little bolder in your flirting, and Five was finding he didnât mind as much as he usually did. By the time dinner was finished, and another bottle of red was opened, you had moved to the living room to continue your conversation. Five sat down on the couch as you plopped in the armchair across from him, tucking your leg up under you, making your shorts slide up your bare thigh. Five couldnât help but notice, and you caught him in the act.
As you continued your small talk, Five watched as you fidgeted in your chair. Every adjustment of your body seemed to be just for him, and he found his mouth pooling with saliva that he tried very hard to subtly swallow back down. It was wrong, but he couldnât help it. The smooth, bare skin of your legs, the curves of your breasts, the way your lips looked so damn delicious as you talked. He was in trouble.
âSo,â he said, his voice cracking. âItâs getting late.â
You nodded with an upturn of your mouth before standing up and crossing to Five. As you loomed over him, he looked up, his gaze traveling the full length of your body. The wine was giving you more confidence that you normally would have. He looked so damn good, sitting there with his hair a little disheveled from running his hand through it all night, and you werenât quite ready for the evening to end yet. You reached down, taking his wine glass to set it on the table with your own. When you climbed onto his lap, straddling his thighs, and draping your arms over his shoulders, he was shocked into silence.
Your warm groin settled over his lap with your tits pressed against his chest. Breathing harder, his hands automatically came to rest on your hips as he looked up at you. You smiled, your hair framing your face as you leaned in to kiss him.
Five closed his eyes, his grip on you tightening for a second as he kissed you in return. You moaned softly into his mouth, pressing yourself down when you felt him start to harden beneath you. Thatâs when he woke from his trance and pulled his head back.
âStop.â
âWhatâs wrong?â
âLookâŚI like you, but we canât do this.â
âWhy not?â
âWell, thereâs a lot of reasons, but namely Iâm way too old for you. And youâre drunk.â
âIâm not drunk.â
Five rolled his eyes. âOk, well, I am. And that doesnât change the fact that Iâm about three times older than you.â
âI donât care.â
âIâm sorry. I donât want to hurt your feelings, but this needs to stop before it goes any further.â
âYouâre sure thatâs what you want?â you asked, tilting your head to the side and giving just a little push into his crotch.
He shook his head slowly, exhaling a long breath. âNo, but itâs what needs to happen. Understand?â
After you reluctantly left, Five cleaned up the kitchen, jerked off in the shower, and went to bed trying very hard not to think of you anymore. Over the next two weeks, he did everything he could think of not to run into you in the building again. He was afraid that not only would it be awkward, but that he would start feeling things he shouldnât.
The truth was, you had gotten to him. Despite his best efforts, that little stunt you pulled by climbing into his lap had worked. Fuck, had it worked. Not a day went by when he wasnât imagining what would have happened had he not cut it short. Those firm tits pressed against him and your soft lips against hisâŚshit, he was going insane. He had to keep to his rule, though. You were just too young.
But you did not give up easily. You knew what you wanted and you were determined to make him see you as the adult you really were.
âFive!â you called with a little wave, as you caught him trying to enter his apartment one evening.
When Five saw you, he cursed under his breath. He really did not have the energy to deal with you. He had just gotten back from a job and he was not in the mood for your little antics.
âYou canât keep coming over here like this, Iâve told you that,â Five explained, turning his focus back to the key in the door.
âI just wanted to say hi,â you said with an innocence that he wasnât buying.
âYeah, I know what youâre doing,â he grumbled.
You paused. âIâm sorry about what happened before, Five. I understand why you might be hesitant, but you knowâŚâ
âWhat do I know?â
âI am an adult, like I said. You donât have to keep treating me like Iâm a kid.â
âYou are a kid,â Five shot back.
You looked up at him with a tiny smirk. âFrom what I remember, it didnât feel like you thought I was a kid the other night.â
Fiveâs jaw set, his teeth grinding together. He wasnât going to stand there and get made fun of by some girl that was determined to get in his pants, even if he did have the beginnings of a boner when she sat on his lap.
âJust stay away from me, ok?â he snarled. âYou donât know anything about me.â
âOh, please, FiveâŚI think I can handleââ
Five turned abruptly, his face hard with dark brows pulled together. As he leaned in, his jaw set and body tense, you flinched, but did not break your eye contact.
âYou think you can handle me, sweetheart? You have no idea what Iâm capable of,â he hissed in your face.
Swallowing, but holding your ground, you nodded. âI can handle you, Five. Iâm not scared of you. And if youâd just let me get to know you a little more â"
His laugh was laced with menace as he took another step toward you. You were left staring at one another, neither of you backing down. He was close enough that you could hear his harsh breathing through his nose and smell the faint traces of after-shave. His eyes searched over your face before turning back to his door.
âGet the fuck away from me. Please,â he said quietly.
âI know what Iâm doing, Iâm not sure why you think Iâm so innocent.â
Five looked down and sighed. He was tired of constantly trying to maintain his morality. He was an old man in a young manâs body and he was so damn sick of taking the higher road. Most people thought he was an asshole, and they werenât wrong. He had a high success rate of keeping the people he wanted out of his life out, and barely tolerating the ones he let in. He was a killer. A trauma-filled nightmare wrapped up in a pretty package. He was not normal, and it was time you knew that.
âFuck it,â he said out loud to no one in particular. As his eyes locked on yours again, his normally emerald-colored ones became dark.
He continued to take another step toward you, and then another, until you were backed against the opposite wall of the quiet hallway. Overhead, the fluorescent lights hummed as a single fly battled for its life inside one of the fixtures.
âAlrightâŚI will confess, I have been thinking a lot about you lately.â
âYou have?â
Five nodded, closing in on you until he was inches from your body; close enough that you could see the faint line of stubble on his chin and hear his deep breathing.
âSpecificallyâŚwhat you would be willing to do for me.â
As his gaze traveled over your body, taking in the tight tank top and miniscule shorts you were wearing, you could almost feel the energy pulsing out of him in waves. It was terrifying and intoxicating, and it had you rooted to the spot.
âWhat do you want me to do for you?â you asked, looking up at him through your lashes, blinking slowly.
âStrip.â
You had been trying to keep up with him. Trying to beat him at his own game. But you sucked in a quiet, yet audible, gasp of air.
âWhat?â
âI want you naked for me. Now.â
He was still so close to you, his mouth mere inches away from yours, and yet he made no further movement to do anything else. He was trapping you there; playing with his prey for fun. And you werenât sure if he was going to eat you or let you escape.
âHere?â you asked, your voice barely above a whisper.
He nodded, his eyes never leaving your face. âThatâs right, sweetheart. You think you know me? You think you want me? Then, prove it.â
âWhat if someone walks by?â
Five shrugged with a grin. He took a step back, allowing you enough room to leave, should you so choose. Again, he made no move to grab you, or touch you in any way. He shook his head, eyeing you pitifully.
âDonât play games you canât win. It wonât end well for you.â
When you had nothing to say to that, his demeanor changed again. Back to his normal, tired expression, his eyes and mouth drooped. He said nothing more, but just turned back toward his apartment, and opened the door. After he took a step inside, he heard you clear your throat. Turning around, he was faced with an unexpected sight.
With each slow, deliberate step you took in his direction, you started to strip your clothes away. First your top, lowering the straps over your shoulders and drawing it up over your head. Then your shorts, unbuttoning them before sliding them down your thighs and kicking them to the side. Five seemed frozen to the spot, unable to move and unable to speak. But his eyes followed you with an unmistakable hunger.
As you closed in on him, you were left in your bra and panties. With a small smirk, you reached behind you and undid the clasp of your bra. Slowly peeling it away from your body, you watched as Fiveâs gaze dropped to your breasts.
âLike I saidâŚIâm not afraid of you,â you said, as you confidently jutted your chin out, along with your chest.
Fiveâs face flickered with shock, followed by what you could only imagine was lust, before it turned to anger. He grabbed your upper arm, squeezing it hard, before shaking you.
His teeth gritted and bared, he snarled in your face. âWhat the fuck do you think youâre doing?â
You did your best to pretend you were in full control of the situation. âWhat you told me to do.â
Fiveâs eyes roamed over your body for a split second, before they were back on your face. He was angrier than you had ever seen him before. And yet, you had a feeling the anger was just masking something else. Something he didnât want you to see.
At that moment, the loud ding of the elevator doors rang out, signaling that you would soon not be alone. He looked down the hallway and then back at you. When you didnât make a move, his jaw tensed even more. Stalking past you to snatch your clothes off the floor, he grabbed your arm again.
âGod damn it, get inside,â he demanded, yanking you forcefully through the doorway of his apartment.
As you stumbled your way inside, he continued to grasp your upper arm. He slammed the door behind you and got in your face again.
âAre you stupid?â he growled.
You shook your head. âNo.â
âWell, stop fucking acting like it. Jesus!â He let go of your arm, leaving you standing there in just your underwear, while he ran a hand through his hair. âYou canât just go around stripping naked in public places just because someone tells you to. What the fuck?â
You smiled and took a step toward him. âWhatâs the matter Five? Losing at your own game?â
Fiveâs breath had become louder and harsher. You could practically see the wheels turning inside his head. He wanted you; you were sure of it. The juxtaposition of desire and restraint was evident in every twitch of coiled muscle and nervous hover of his eyes on your breasts. He had been trying to scare you; make you flee in terror at his aggressive advances. But joke was on him, because you fucking loved it.
Another look of anger swept over his face as he laughed darkly. âShit. You really do not know what you are getting yourself into here.â
You swallowed nervously. âI donât care.â
âWell, you should. And you should leave.â
Five continued to bore into you with his intense stare. His dark eyes indicated menace, but his stiff body language gave off something else. Fear. But Five Hargreeves does not give into fear easily. When he feels it creeping in, he turns it into something else. Something mean and ruthless.
When you didnât make a move to leave, he took a step forward. A half-smirk formed on his lips as he crossed his arms over his chest and tilted his head to the side.
âAlright thenâŚyouâve been warned,â he said pleasantly, right before his voice turned ice cold. âNow lose those fucking panties before I rip them off myself.â
Slowly, and without breaking eye contact, you hooked your thumbs into the elastic waist of your lace panties and pulled them down over your hips, letting them drop to the floor at your feet. You stood perfectly still, allowing him to take you all in while your chest began to rise and fall more rapidly.
You thought you had him this time. How was he going to resist a fully nude woman right in front of his face? But instead of giving in, like you knew he wanted, he gave a small shake of his head. Still holding the clothes you had discarded in the hallway, he stepped forward until he was directly in front of you, smiling derisively. His face was so close to your bare skin, you could feel the warmth of his exhale along your leg as he bent to pick up the pair of underwear. When he walked casually past you in the direction of the living room, your jaw dropped as he opened the sliding glass doors that led to a small balcony, and hurled your clothes outside. You watched in disbelief as they floated briefly on the light breeze before disappearing out of sight; fluttering to the ground, six floors below.
He closed the doors, turning back to you with a satisfied, yet stony expression. He pointed at the door to the hall.
âGet out.â
You paused, your eyes nervously darting toward the door. âWhat?â
He flicked a piece of hair out of his eyes in indifference. âYou said you didnât care if anyone saw you. So, leave.â
When you continued to stand there, wide-eyed and confused, he snorted and shook his head. âThatâs what I thought. Iâm not the nice guy you think I am. And Iâm certainly not one of your little fucking boyfriends you can manipulate to get your way.â His voice softened somewhat. âI can give you something to wear to go home in, but donât ever come back here again. This is over, understand?â
After a few seconds of silence, you nodded your head slowly. âI understand.â With a sly smile, you turned, heading for the door, letting Five get a nice long look at your ass in the process. As you reached for the doorknob, you glanced over your shoulder, relishing in his bewilderment as you walked right out the door without a stitch of clothing on.
Out in the hallway, you tried not to panic. You hadnât really thought out what was going to happen once you had committed to your little act of rebellion. Your apartment was on the other side of the floor, and you had to pass by many nosy neighborsâ places plus the elevators to get there. As you considered your options, your back was suddenly slammed into the wall, Fiveâs hands gripping your arms again after he appeared in a flash of blue.
âGod damn it,â he seethed in your face.
Without another word, you were being ripped through one of his portals, reappearing inside his apartment again. You let out a small cry of surprise as you were flattened against the door, Fiveâs body pressed against yours.
He surveyed your face one more time, his eyebrows drawn together in torment. âFuck, why did you do this to me?â
The next few minutes were a blur as Five released everything that he had been holding back in one ferocious attack. His mouth sucking and biting at your lips, his hands fisted tightly in your hair, and his hips jerking into you. Something feral and instinctual was propelling him, and you let him unleash all of it onto you.
With another tight hold on your wrist, you were dragged away from the door and whipped through a second portal, this time landing on his bed with a hard bounce. While you scrambled to sit up, Five had stripped off his shirt and was already unbuckling his belt, the clink of the metal drawing your attention to his hands as they unzipped his fly. Breathing hard through his nose, he looked at you, running a hand through his hair while pushing it off of his forehead.
With his cool green eyes locked on yours, he crooked a finger at you, beckoning you over. You worked your way off the bed, hesitating for just a moment, before closing the few feet so that you were standing directly in front of him.
He leaned down, a hand gently cradling the back of your neck, as he kissed you softly. You thought maybe you were going to see a new, tender side of him. Until he latched a hand onto your shoulder, gripping you hard while pushing you roughly down, forcing you to your knees. As he glared down at you, dark hair framing the sharp angles of his face, one corner of his mouth twitched up.
âYou talk a big game, honey, so go ahead. Letâs see that mouth of yours in action.â
He was trying to intimidate you; to show you he was the boss. But you werenât naĂŻve and you werenât dumb. There were subtle hints, like the way his breath hitched when he spoke to you, or the slight tremble in his hand as he guided your face up by your chin that gave his nerves away.
With your own small smile and a lick of your lips, you reached up to pull the black suit pants down, taking his boxers with them. Five let out a shaky exhale as his hard cock stood at attention in front of your face. With another coy glance up through soft lashes, you took him into your hand. He was bigger than you would have guessed, and you slowly stroked his thick shaft, pressing your thumb into the underside while following the vein from base to head. When you stretched out your tongue to give a kittenish lick across the tip, he hissed loudly, bringing his hand down to rest in your hair.
âShit,â you heard him mutter under his breath as you started in.
He didnât let you work up to it with teasing kisses or circles of your tongue around his dripping head. With one shove of his hand on the back of your head, his dick was down your throat. You let out a clipped groan that ended in a gurgling noise, before he was pulling you back and off again. With eyes wide and already gasping for air, your hair was tugged backward so that you were forced to look up at him.
An eyebrow raised, Five questioned you with a low voice. âStill think you can handle me?â
From your position on the floor, he towered above you like a god, watching as you worshiped at his feet. Your eyes traveled over his sculpted abs, his toned arms and shoulders that flexed with the effort of holding your head back. You took in the scars that dotted his abdomen and thighs; the line of soft hair that trailed from his navel to the main event. He was being rough, yes, but there was something in his eyes that gave him away. Like he wanted so badly to be something else, he just didnât know how.
You nodded your head in an answer to his question, as his magnificent cock bobbed in front of your face, and you opened your mouth wide.
âFuck,â he growled from deep in his chest.
Five was losing his mind, he was sure of it. All of his pent-up anger and frustration over his body/mind/age situation was coming to a head; and he was shoving that head directly and violently down your throat. He couldnât stop it. He didnât want to stop it. You felt so damn good, with your warm mouth wrapped around him and your tongue sliding over the taught skin of his shaft. As his hips jerked into your face, harder and faster, he watched as you gagged and choked on his dick; saliva building up at the corners of your mouth as you so dutifully let him fuck your face.
âAhâŚffff-uu-goddamnitâŚyes, fuck yes, donât stopâŚah SHIT!â
His head was thrown back in complete bliss as he unloaded copious amounts of cum directly into the back of your throat, the sheer volume making it pour out the corners of your mouth and dribble down your chin. The rest you swallowed, choking down the steady stream of bitter semen while he moaned above you and fisted your hair even tighter.
As he finally began to relax and the last few twitches of his hips came to a halt, he dared to open his eyes and look down at the sight below him. He had loosened his grip on your hair, allowing his dick to slip out of your mouth. You gasped and sucked in the much-needed air that you hadnât been getting as he released you entirely. Collapsing onto your hands and knees, you coughed and wiped at your destroyed mouth while Five did nothing more than stare down at you with a kind of horrified fascination.
What had he done?
When you looked back up at him, though, and he saw that devilish smile sneak across your lips, daring him to give you more, he stopped caring. It was clear you were going to let him do whatever he wanted. And, fuck, if he didnât want to do so many things to you.
âUp,â he commanded, still trying to catch his breath.
He held out his hand for you to take, letting him haul you up to standing. He ran a hand down your cheek and kissed your ruined lips. There was that moment of softness again, and you closed your eyes against his touch.
Five guided you so that you were sitting on the edge of the bed. After another kiss, this time leaving you breathless, he dropped to his knees between your legs. Gripping your thighs in his hands, he roughly pushed your legs apart while pulling you closer to him.
Digging his fingers into your hips, he buried his face into your wet, throbbing pussy, and moaned.
âThis wet just from sucking my cock? Fuck, honey, youâre driving me crazy.â
Alternating between long laps with his tongue and sucking at your clit, it was obvious he knew exactly what he was doing as you leaned backward, holding yourself up with your hands flat on the bed. When you dropped your head back, it banged against the wall, but you barely noticed since you were already on the cusp of a strong orgasm.
âFiveâŚâ you gasped, eyes clenched shut and biting at your bottom lip. You tried desperately to rock your hips into his face, but his grip was too strong. He was devouring you; eating you out almost viciously, while your palms began to sweat as they pressed harder into the bed. âFiveâŚholy fff-uckâŚOH GOD!â you screamed as one last, perfect lick sent you reeling. With your entire body shuddering, Five only went at you harder; until you were letting out quiet, pitiful cries, and your thighs twitched against his head.
As you tried to catch your breath, Five finally let up, tearing himself away from your warm deliciousness, and standing up to lean over you. He was just as out of breath as you were, with his mouth shining and lips red. A mixture of your arousal and his saliva pooled obscenely underneath you.
âThat wasâŚholy shitâŚâ you tried to get out, but you were cut off almost immediately.
âIâm not done yet. Not by a long shot,â he rasped.
Though only minutes had passed since he had unloaded into your mouth, his cock was hard again. As he rummaged around in a drawer, pulling out a condom, and rolling it on, you scooted back so that you were lying down lengthwise on the bed. There was no more time for rest, though, before Five was climbing on top of you, that look of voracity overtaking him again.
He began to kiss you; hard and insistently while running his tongue over your bottom lip and venturing inside. It was a mixture of intense want and hesitation as he squeezed your ass with one hand and lightly stroked your hair with the other. When he pulled back, he looked deep into your eyes, his hand coming to rest gently on your cheek, his thumb pressing under your chin.
âWhat do you think, sweetheart? Ready for more?â
With a slow smile forming on your face, you nodded.
âFuck yeah. Give it to me.â
Five groaned, closing his eyes and dropping his face to your neck. His teeth scraped against your skin as he kissed you fervently while your fingers threaded through his hair. The second you opened your legs for him, he was shoving himself inside. Sucking in a loud breath, he buried his face into your shoulder.
âFuuuckâŚyou are tightâŚgod, you feel so fucking good,â he moaned pitifully into you.
You threw your head back against the pillow with a loud moan. âOh my god, I knew your dick would feel amazing.â
He didnât respond, but he took both of your legs and balanced them on his shoulders, angling your hips up to push his dick in even further. He was buried to the hilt, with his tight balls slapping against your ass each time he drew back and slammed back into you.
Five was gone; completely lost inside his own debauched fantasy. He wanted to fuck you harder and harder until you couldnât take it anymore. He wanted to make you cry out his name while your back arched off the bed like you were possessed. When his eyes met yours, with the strands of hair stuck to his forehead from the sweat already forming there, you bit your bottom lip and smiled. You knew exactly what you were doing to him, and that made him want to absolutely ruin you.
Smacking your ass hard enough to leave a mark before throwing your legs off his shoulders, Five roughly flipped you over. He forced the side of your face into the bed as he thrust inside you again, stretching your pussy and filling you up with his thick cock. His ragged breath warmed the side of your neck with each punishing drive of his hips against your ass as you whimpered softly.
âCome on, honey, letâs hear it,â he snarled next to your ear. âYouâve been dying for me to pound that sweet little pussyâŚso let me hear you. Iâm not stopping until I get what I want.â
âFff-iiive,â you sobbed, your fists clutching the bedspread underneath you as he railed relentlessly into you.
âThatâs right,â he answered, and you could hear that cocky smirk on his face. âBeg me.â
âFiveâŚpleaseâŚyou feel SOâŚFUCKINGâŚGOOD!â
The angle of his cock thrusting inside of you, along with his body trapping you beneath him, was more intense than anything you had ever experienced before. You were on the verge of coming; your cries becoming louder while you desperately tried to suck air into your lungs. The sting of his dick drilling inside of you was still not enough to mask the pleasure that was building. It hurt but you still wanted more.
Soon, that inevitable feeling of warmth and tightness formed in your core and you let go with a loud scream that echoed off the walls of his bedroom. Your body convulsed under his as his hips stilled against your ass when he expelled himself one more time. The groan that left him as he came was loud and long, leaving his arms shaking as he held himself over you.
After he was able to move off of you, you continued to catch your breath as you rolled over to face him. Five was kneeling on the bed, chest glistening with sweat and heaving as he flipped his hair out of his eyes. He didnât say a word, but after a few more seconds, he climbed off the bed to dispose of the condom. You eyed him nervously. You had no idea how he was going to react, or if he was already regretting everything.
After tugging his boxers back on, he sat down on the edge of the bed. âAre you ok?â he asked, his voice tight.
You nodded and sat up. âYeah, Iâm ok, why?â
Five shook his head. âI was way too rough, I shouldnât haveâŚbut youâŚâ he trailed off, his frustration with himself evident. âLook, you got your way. This is done now, alright?â
With a roll of your eyes, you moved off the bed so that you were standing in front of him; the muscles in your sticky thighs aching from the movement. âGet over yourself, Five. We both wanted this, so stop pretending I put some spell on you to make you change your mind.â
He was silent, but he nodded, a brief flicker of a smile forming on his lips. âIâm sorry about your clothes.â He got up to grab a t-shirt from one of his drawers and handed it to you. âYou can wear this; it should be enough to cover everything.â
As you worked the too-big shirt over your head, Five pulled his pants back on, zipping them up but leaving the belt hanging open. Reaching into his back pocket, he pulled out a small, balled up pair of womenâs underwear. With a guilty smile, he tossed them over to you. âHere.â
You laughed in disbelief. âYou stole my panties? What were you going to do with them?â
Five shrugged. âI hadnât figured that out yet.â
Shaking your head, you looked down at them in your hand. âSuch a dirty old man.â Glancing back at Fiveâs guilty face, you threw them back, and he caught them against his chest. âKeep them. I kind of like the idea of you doing weird things with them.â
Five made no comment, but he tucked them back into his pants pocket with a lop-sided grin. He held out his hand. âCome on, Iâll blink you back to your apartment so you donât have to go back in just a t-shirt.â
You thought for a second, but shook your head. âNo thanks. I donât mind a good walk of shame now and then.â
As Five walked you to the door, you gave him a lingering kiss and trailed a hand down his arm. âMaybe the next time I make too much food, Iâll come over and share it? Think you can handle that?â
A smile slowly spread across Fiveâs face and he nodded. âYeah, I think I can handle that.â
Then he watched as you walked away, wearing nothing but his t-shirt. He shook his head, not quite believing what had just occurred. He had thought he was so damn smart with his moral high-ground and superiority. But as it turned out, you had gotten the best of him. He lost at his own game. Tucking two fingers inside his pocket to stroke the silky material of your panties, he smiled to himself, thinking about how this may have been the first time in his life that he hadnât minded losing.

A Life Worth Fighting For
Five Hargreeves x Fem!reader
A/N: It's time we all got our five back. Five needs y/n, in every timeline. If I'm honest, I don't want to read anything more about this Five/Lila relationship. For me that never happened. From now on I'll be posting the stories that I've already finished writing
Warnings: spoilers for season 4 episode 5-6
The air shimmered with energy as Five and Lila landed in yet another timeline, they found themselves in a cozy, well-kept house that radiated warmth and comfort. The scent of fresh coffee hung in the air, mingling with the subtle fragrance of flowers from somewhere nearby.
Lila glanced around, her brow furrowed with suspicion. âThis doesnât look like any of the timelines weâve been to,â she muttered, her hand instinctively moving toward the handle of the knife strapped to her thigh. âToo quiet, too⌠perfect.â
Five didnât respond immediately. He was scanning the room, his sharp eyes taking in every detail. The polished wooden floors, the cushy furniture, the family photos lining the wallsâit was all so domestic, so ordinary. It felt like the calm before a storm, and after seven years of battling against the odds in a timeline where everything was wrong, he couldnât trust it.
âWe need to be careful,â Five said finally, his voice low. âThis place looks safe, but itâs too familiar. We could be in one of those timelines where somethingâs just a bit off.â
âLike that time where your younger self shot at us??â Lila quipped, her lips curving into a smirk that didnât reach her eyes.
âExactly,â Five replied, the memory flashing through his mind. âLetâs find out where we are and whoâs running the show here.â
Just as he was about to suggest searching the house, the door to the living room swung open. Both Five and Lila instinctively tensed, ready for whatever was about to step through.
But what they saw caught them completely off guard.
Another Five stood in the doorway, looking just as surprised as they were. This version of Five was dressed casually, in a button-down shirt and jeans, a far cry from the suits that the time-traveling Five was used to. He looked⌠settled.
âWhat theââ the other Five started, his eyes narrowing as he processed the scene before him. âWhat are you doing in my house?â
Five stepped forward, his gaze locked onto his counterpart. âWeâre from a different timelineâ he said, his voice steady.
The other Fiveâs eyes widened in recognition, then narrowed again with suspicion. âA different timeline? What do you want?â
Before Five could respond, Lila spoke up, her tone laced with annoyance. âListen, mate, we donât want to be here any more than you want us to be. Weâre just trying to get back to our own timeline, but weâve been stuck in the wrong one for seven years. Seven years!â
The other Fiveâs expression softened slightly, though the wariness didnât leave his eyes. âSeven years? What happened?â
Five took a deep breath, trying to steady himself as memories of those long, grueling years came rushing back. âWe got trapped,â he explained, his voice quieter now. âNo way out. We were stuck there for what felt like a lifetime. And⌠well, we ended up together.â
For a moment, there was silence. The other Fiveâs eyes flicked between his counterpart and Lila, his expression growing darker with each passing second. âYou ended up together?â he repeated, disbelief coloring his tone. âYou and her?â
Five nodded, bracing himself for the reaction he knew was coming.
The other Fiveâs jaw tightened, and without warning, he stepped forward and smacked his counterpart on the back of the head. âWhat the hell is wrong with you?â he snapped, his voice a mix of anger and incredulity. âDo you even know what youâve done?â
Lilaâs eyes flashed with anger, but Five raised a hand to stop her from retaliating. âI didnât have a choice,â he said, though even as he spoke the words, he knew how weak they sounded.
âThereâs always a choice!â the other Five shot back, his anger unabated. âYouâre telling me that in seven years, you never once thought about the consequences? About Diego? Heâs her husband in our timeline, for Christâs sake! They have three kids together!â
Five flinched at the mention of Diego, a pang of guilt stabbing through him. âI don't have a girlfriend or wife,â he said defensively, the words tumbling out before he could stop them. âI have no one.â
At this, the other Fiveâs anger seemed to shift, turning into something more like pity. He sighed, running a hand through his hair. âBecause you gave up,â he said quietly. âYou gave up on yourself, and you gave up on your family.â
For a long moment, Five couldnât find the words to respond. The weight of what his counterpart was saying pressed down on him like a lead blanket. Had he really given up? Had he allowed himself to lose sight of everything that mattered because he was too tired, too lost, to keep fighting?
The silence between them grew heavy, filled with all the unspoken regrets and what-ifs of a life that could have been.
âLook,â the other Five said, his voice softer now, âI know how easy it is to get lost in this mess, to lose sight of who you are and what you want. But you canât just throw everything away because things get hard. You have to fight for what matters.â
Five looked down, his hands curling into fists at his sides. He wanted to believe that it wasnât too late, that he could still find the life heâd always wanted, the love heâd convinced himself was out of reach. But the last seven years had left him scarred, beaten down by a world that had taken so much from him.
His thoughts were interrupted by the sound of laughter coming from outside. He looked up and saw that the other Five was gazing out the large bay window, a small smile on his lips.
Five followed his gaze and felt his heart clench at the sight that greeted him.
In the garden, a beautiful pregnant woman was playing with a little girl, who looked to be around four years old. The womanâs laughter was like music, her face glowing with happiness as she twirled the giggling child around in her arms. The little girl had a mop of dark hair and eyes that sparkled with mischiefâeyes that Five recognized all too well.
âThatâs Y/n,â the other Five said softly, his voice filled with warmth. âAnd thatâs our daughter, Maddie.â
Five stared at him, his mind reeling. âI want what you have,â he said finally, his voice barely a whisper. âI want⌠her.â
The other Five nodded, his expression firm but not unkind. âThen fight for it,â he said. âDonât give up on yourself. Donât give up on her.â
Fiveâs throat tightened as he watched them, his heart aching with a longing he hadnât allowed himself to feel in years. This was it. This was what he had wanted, what he had fought so hard to protect but had never truly believed he could have. A family. A home. A life filled with love.
He could have had this. He could have had her.
âI canât believeâŚâ Five started, but his voice broke, and he had to swallow the lump in his throat. âI canât believe I gave this up.â
âYou didnât,â the other Five said, placing a hand on his shoulder. âNot yet. You still have a chance to find her. You still have a chance to make this life your own.â
Five closed his eyes, trying to block out the overwhelming tide of emotions threatening to drown him. He didnât deserve thisâthis kindness, this hope. But he wanted it more than anything. He wanted to find his y/n, to have his own Maddie, to fight for a life worth living.
When he opened his eyes again, he found the other Five watching him, a knowing look in his eyes.
âGo,â the other Five said gently. âFind her. Fight for her.â
Five nodded, and then turned to Lila, who had been watching the exchange in silence. She looked at him with a mixture of sadness and understanding, knowing that whatever they had shared was over.
âWe should go,â Five said softly, his eyes meeting Lilaâs. her expression unreadable, and with a final nod to the other five, he teleported them both away, leaving the other Five standing alone in the quiet house.
A few moments later, the front door opened, and Y/n and Maddie walked in, their faces flushed with happiness from their time in the garden. Y/n smiled warmly at Five, the love in her eyes undeniable as she approached him.
âEverything okay?â she asked, a note of concern in her voice as she noticed the tension in his posture.
Five looked at her, his heart swelling with an overwhelming sense of gratitude and love. He wrapped his arms around her, pulling her close as he kissed her gently on the lips.
âEverythingâs perfect,â he murmured against her lips, his voice filled with emotion. âIâm just⌠so happy that I have you. Youâre my one true love, y/n. No one else. Just you.â
Y/n smiled, her eyes shining with love as she leaned into his embrace. âI love you too,â she whispered, resting her head against his chest.
Five held her close, the weight of everything that had just happened slowly fading away as he focused on the warmth of her body against his, the sound of her heartbeat, the soft rise and fall of her breath. This was his life, his family, his everything.
And he wouldn't give that up for anything in the world...timeline or not.

Insomniac
Word Count : 1.8k Summary : Five has trouble sleeping and when he does sleep it's anything but peaceful. After a nightmare he craves your touch to remind him you're okay. Warnings/Tags : Talk of nightmares, insomnia, smut, piv, cursing, allusions to violence, use of y/n, Aged up!Five
Happy Valentineâs Day <3
Whether or not Five wanted to admit it he was an insomniac. Blame it on his heightened survival instincts from the apocalypse, or the commission. Whenever it was time to relax and go to sleep, Five felt more wired than ever. Which led to you normally finding him in the strangest positions when he finally crashed. Whether that be hunched over the kitchen table, cold coffee in a mug next to him. Sometimes youâd find him slouched in a chair, a blanket draped over him by one of his brothers. Your favorite was when youâd be watching a movie together, his eyes slowly closing, heâd mumble something along the lines of, âjust resting his eyes for a secondâ before heâd be snoring on your shoulder. A sure sign that he was still an old man in a young manâs body.
Itâs not like he didnât try to sleep. Every night youâd both climb into bed, youâd lay your head on his chest, the soft beat of his heart lulling you to sleep. Heâd lay awake, his mind constantly churning. Heâd gotten so desperate at one point heâd tried to follow the meditation video Klaus had lent him. Although listening to some lady stoned out of her mind telling him to breathe deep only agitated him further.
On the nights where Five did fall asleep it was anything but peaceful.
Five screamed, waking you up as you all but jumped out of your skin. Five sat up in bed, his chest rising and falling rapidly, his breathing erratic. You sat up, the sheet pooling around your waist.
âFive?â You whispered your hand lightly grazing his back. He jumped, turning to you like a cornered animal. His lips pulled back in a snarl, wide eyes glaring at you. âHey,â You pulled back watching the gears turn behind his eyes, guilt washing over him as he realized you werenât a threat. âHey itâs ok, youâre ok.â He leaned forward resting his head on your shoulder as you wrapped your arms around him. His heart was beating like a small animal against your chest.
âIâm sorry, Iâm sorry.â He mumbled, his head resting in the crook of your neck. Hot tears wetting your collarbone.
âItâs ok, itâs ok.â You soothed, your hand traveling up to his head. You ran your fingers through hair, lightly scratching his scalp. He let out a shuddering breath, loosening his grip around your waist. âDo you want some tea?â You asked, you had been trying to help him kick his coffee addiction.
âCoffee.â He mumbled, sighing into your neck.
âOk, letâs get some coffee.â You said peeling the sheets off the two of you. He sat up, swinging his legs off the side of the bed. You grabbed your robe off the floor, wrapping it around your body. Five stood by your bedroom door, bleary eyed. You took his hand leading him down the stairs to the kitchen. You looked at the clock as you passed the oven, 2:35. You internally sighed slipping your hand out of Fiveâs grasp. He pulled out a chair, grimacing as it scraped across the tile floor. You walked over to your new Keurig, Fiveâs birthday present. You popped one of the pods in before shutting the lid. You walked over to the kitchen cupboards, pulling out a mug and setting it in the Keurig. The smell of coffee filled the air as Five got up from his seat. He walked up behind you, resting his head on your shoulder. His arms wrapping tightly around your waist, pulling you back against his chest.
âDo you want to talk about it?â You asked, reaching up to wrap your hand around his neck. You had both been trying to be more open about your pasts. Which meant having these uncomfortable conversations.
âJust-â He sighed, âJust stay with me for a minute, dearest.â You nodded slightly swaying as you both stood in the kitchen. Five loosened his grip around your waist, reaching past you to pick up his coffee cup. You leaned against the counter, pulling your robe closer around your body. He held the mug in one of his hands, leaning his head back against the cupboard cabinet. He let out a sigh before taking a sip of his coffee. âYouâre staring.â He mused, turning to look at you.
âIâm just-â You sighed, shrugging your shoulders, âIâm worried about you.â
âDonât be.â He said with a tight lipped smile. You raised your eyebrows, crossing your arms.
âI know you better than that.â You said a small smile pulling at your lips as you shook your head.
âThen you know what it was about.â He huffed, bringing the mug to his lips.
âA or c?â You asked, looking down at your feet. You had invented a code between the two of you, A for apocalypse and C for commission. While you couldnât relate to being stuck in a post apocalyptic world, you were all too familiar with the inner workings of the commission. The killings you both carried out plagued your dreams as well. Your hands had been stained long ago.
âC.â He answered. The commission. Well that narrowed it down.
âReal or not real?â He hesitated, sneaking a glimpse toward you before raising his gaze toward the ceiling.
âNot real.â He said before clearing his throat. You walked over to him, laying your hands on his cheek. He avoided your gaze keeping his eyes lo
âWas it about me?â You asked, pushing his head slightly with your hand to get him to look at you.
âYeah.â He said clenching his jaw, his eyes darted away from yours. You waited for a moment, to see if he would say anything more.
âIâm right here.â You whispered after a moment had passed, âIâm right here and Iâm ok.â
âI know,â He leaned forward his lips finding your neck, he breathed in your sweet scent. The tiniest hint of sweat from the night. His hands found your hips, pulling you against him.
âI need you.â He breathed against your neck, leaving open mouthed kisses.
âYou have me.â You sighed, leaning your head back offering him your neck.
The world spun and the temperature dropped as Five blinked you both back to your room. It took a second to get your bearings before your knees hit the bed. You allowed Five to lay you down, his long fingers curling under the waistband of your pajama pants. He pulled them off, while you pulled your shirt over your head.
âSo gorgeous.â He murmured, kissing up your stomach. You sighed contently, melting under his touch. He pulled away briefly, pulling his shirt off and stepped out of his pajama bottoms. Leaving both of you in your underwear. He lifted your hips up off the bed, his fingers curling into the waistband on your panties as he pulled them off. Your body buzzed with anticipation as you watched him take off his boxers. He climbed forward onto the bed, slotting himself between your legs. You grabbed the back of his neck pulling him forward into a kiss as the head of his cock found your entrance. Tasting the bitter coffee on his tongue as slipped inside with the familiar ease of a lover. You gasped into his mouth, feeling every inch of him as he pressed inside you.
âThere you are.â He sighed against your lips, his own curling into an easy smile.
âFive-â You moaned, gripping his shoulders as he slowly started thrusting inside you. He never left your cunt, hips rolling against yours. Your legs wrapped around his hips, keeping him as close as possible. Your moans and the sweet sound of skin slapping against skin filled the air. You looked up at Five, his eyes bore into yours. You felt a bit shy under his gaze, your eyes darting away.
He stilled, laying his forearms beside your head as leant over you. He covered your body with his own, his hand turning your head so you would look at him.
âLet me see you.â He said softly, nosing against your cheek.
It was moments like this that made you feel like a normal person. Moments when it was just the two of you in the world, two becoming one. He reached down, grabbing your thigh, his fingers squeezing the soft flesh. âYou feel so good.â He mumbled, pumping in and out of you at an agonizingly slow pace. He was taking his time with you tonight, that much was clear.
Your heels dug into his butt, trying to pull him closer to you. He let out a small laugh, his teeth glinting in the moonlight. He slowed, his hips creating a low drag into your cunt with every thrust. His pubic hair rubbing against your clit in a delicious way that had you clenching around him. A low whine pulling its way out of your throat, as he propped himself up.
âYou like that doll?â He whispered, his cock rubbed at your walls in deliberate strokes.
âMmhm.â You nodded tears springing to your eyes as you bit your lip. Your body craved more, more stimulation, more Five. âPlease.â You whined, your hands digging into his shoulders, leaving small crescent shapes in their wake.
âPlease what?â He asked tilting his head as he leaned down, nipping and sucking at your neck.
âMore, I need more please.â You said bucking your hips up to gain and friction.
âAs you wish.â He said, his breath fanning across your neck as he snapped his hips into yours. You moaned, your eyes rolling back into your head as he set an excruciating pace. He sat back on his heels, pulling you down the bed with him. He slammed into you, leaving you a moaning mess under him. You grabbed his thighs, nails dragging down his pale legs. Your body buzzed as you neared your high, breasts bouncing as he drove into again and again.
He watched you, picking up subtle signs your orgasm was approaching. Your toes curled as he reached between your bodies, rubbing deliberate circles on your clit.
That was enough to send you over the edge, you spasmed around him, your nails digging into his thighs as you cried out. Tears slipping down your cheeks.
âThatâs it.â He smirked, breathing hard. He was getting sloppy as he neared his peak. You continued to ride out your orgasm as his came crashing down.
âF-Fuck.â He groaned spilling into you, his hips stuttering as he painted your insides. He lowered his body onto yours, laying his head in the crook of your neck as he interlaced his fingers with yours. You both breathed hard, letting your heart rate come down.
âHow do you feel now?â You asked breathlessly, squeezing his hands.
âMuch better.â He nodded, kissing your neck. âThank you.â
âOf course.â You said pulling your hands away to wrap them around his sweaty body.
Needless to say, Five slept through the night

Drunk! Five Hargreeves Headcanons/One-shot
He becomes super clingy and giggly
He can't walk straight and ends up just falling into you
Eyes are swarmed with an unknown emotion and a stupid smile takes over his face
"Have I ever told you how pretty you are?" He giggles, poking your nose with a 'bop'
His personality has taken a 180
His nails practically dig into your skin as he tries to hold onto you
Drinking is one of the things he overindulges in and you have to stop him
His hands are all over you, touching you, feeling you, holding you
He's not usually so affectionate, so it takes you by surprise
"Kiss me, please," he slurs his words, his lips puckering to kiss you, but you push him back slightly
You help him to his bedroom, as he tries to fight you, because he doesn't want to go to bed, he wants to stay up with you
You have to go with him for him to go to his room
As you go to leave, he reaches for you, "Please don't leave-"
---
You roam the halls looking for Five after his brother's wedding. You had seen him throwing back drink after drink, so you were worried that he was off somewhere black-out drunk. You heard light moaning and groaning coming from a far back room and you slowly opened the door to see Five sitting in a corner. His hair was a mess along with his shirt and tie.
He looked up slightly when hearing the door open. His eyes widened when seeing you; He tries to stand up, but ends up falling over and groaning.
"God, you are so drunk."
"I... I mam nost druuunk," his voice slurs as he speaks, causing his words to intertwine with each other.
"Uhuh," You walk over to him, grabbing his hand and helping him up. He leans into you, his head falling onto your shoulder. "I'm taking you to your room."
He adamantly shakes his head, "Noooo, no. I'm not tired."
You looked up at him, his body weight now pressing down at you, since he couldn't stand on his own. Your brows frown when seeing his eyes close and you roll your eyes. "You're so drunk, you don't realize that you're falling asleep right now."
He shakes his head, not able to vocally respond. Granted, even though was denying his sleepyness, he followed you to his room.
You slowly open the door, before shutting it with your foot when you both get in. He hangs off of you as you lead him to his bed and laying him down.
"Alright, Five. Try not to die in your sleep," You turn to leave, but you're stopped by a hand; His hand. He grabbed you, tightly, and was looking up at you with sleepy eyes.
"Please... Stay. Don't leave."
"You want me to stay?" You get out, ignoring his nails digging into your wrist.
He slowly blinks, trying to process what he was going to say next. He hums, before finally responding, "Yeah.. I want you to stay."
Before you can respond though, he yanks you towards him, holding you close against him. You sighed but ultimately accepted your fate. Hopefully, sober Five wouldn't question why he was entangled with you in a cuddle. Though knowing him, he probably would adamantly deny wanting to hold you close. But as they say, drunk actions are sober thoughts

All Iâve Ever Wanted
Season 4!Five Hargreeves x fem!reader
! Spoilers ahead !
Summary: six years of travelling to different timelines, and Five isnât sure how much longer he can go on for. Until he stumbles upon a greenhouse, full of strawberries. And you.
Word count: 4212
A/N: so season 4 was a⌠thing that happened. This story is basically my own idea of how things shouldâve gone in ep 5. Instead of the weird Lila/Five situation, itâs just Five, and his chance of living a normal life with someone new. Hope you all enjoy, and feedback is appreciated :)
Number Five was never one to back down from a challenge. Having been through a series of different apocalyptic events, transporting to a timeline where he spent 40 years alone, and dealing with a misfit group consisting of his exhausting siblings, Five was up for anything. But the current situation he was dealing with? For the first time in his life, he was at breaking point.
After another wasted day spending hour after hour searching for any clues or information on how to get back to the correct timeline, Five returns to the subway, entering one of the compartments and slumping down in the first chair he sees. He rubs his eyes and lets out a visceral sigh, wanting nothing more than to go to sleep. He reaches into his pockets, pulling out a small pack of dried fruits. He rips it open and devours every last piece. He canât remember the last time he had a proper meal. He was becoming more desperate, rummaging through trash cans and foraging in bushes, hoping anything he picks isnât poisonous.
The compartment jolts and begins to move, making its way to the next timeline. Five wipes his hands on his already dirty pants, standing up and walking slowly to the door. He wonders whether his apocalypse counterpart will be waiting for him this time.
After several minutes, and Five almost falling over from his lack of sleep, he finally arrives, the doors opening. He steps out, immediately making his way up the stairs. No time to waste. He cautiously pokes his head out, looking around for any signs of, well, himself. Before he can move out more, something wizzes past his head. A bullet. He ducks, as more shots are fired directly at him.
âGive me a fuckinâ break,â Five mumbles, as he finally takes notices of the other him in the distance.
He sticks up his middle finger, and no soon after closes his fists, blinking as quick as he possibly could.
The Five with a gun disappears along with the destroyed world around him. Five drops his arms to his sides, turning around and admiring the new environment. Luscious, greenery surrounds him, with an array of different flowers sprouting from the ground beneath him. A small pond with fish glimmers in the sunshine, lily pads floating on top. He continues turning, finding himself standing next to a tall greenhouse. The glass was slightly foggy, making it difficult to see whatâs inside. Five leans in closer, squinting as if that would help. He can barely make out what appears to be pots of fruit and vegetables, some fully sprouted and others not yet ripe. His stomach rumbles, the feeling of hunger consuming him.
A rustle sounds from behind him. He turns quickly, coming face to face with a pair of shears. Five jumps back slightly. He then spots the person wielding said âweaponâ. A young woman, probably early twenties, wearing a light yellow dress and a pair of brown sandals. Five canât help but admire her beauty, if it wasnât for the fact she had a face like fury and didnât seem afraid of cutting him in half.
âCan I help you?â Her words are kind, but her harsh tone says otherwise.
Five canât exactly tell this young woman the truth. Showing up randomly in her back yard, covered in grime, gawking at her crops through the window. He raises his hands up in the air, trying to convey that he meant no harm.
âIâm so sorry,â he says, his throat sore having not spoken to anyone in quite some time. âI donât really know how I got here.â Thatâs not exactly true. âIâve been travelling for a few days now.â Try six years. âAnd I could really do with a hot shower and something to eat.â
The woman doesnât say anything, just staring, with the shears still held out in front of her.
Five puts his arms down, shrugging in defeat. âIâll just go. I truly am sorry, I didnât mean to freak you out.â He looks down. âOr step all over your rose garden.â He gingerly moves away from the destroyed flowers.
He turns and begins to walk away, hoping to find an exit as quick as possible. Blinking in front of this woman probably wouldnât help his cause. A warm hand grabs hold of his wrist, forcing him to stop and look back. She has the shears loosely hanging by her side, as her eyes pierce into Fiveâs. She seems hesitant, words forming in her mind. At last, she speaks again.
âYouâre telling the truth?â
Five nods incessantly, feeling like a child.
âAnd if I let you in and make you something to eat, you wonât try and kill me?â
Five holds back a laugh, knowing sheâs being deadly serious. âI wouldnât dare.â
The woman waits a beat, then huffs. âCome on, I was just about to start dinner.â
She moves past Five, walking into three greenhouse. He takes this as a sign to follow after her.
***
The young woman allows Five to use her shower, and heâs thankful for the change of clothes she provides for him too. The home is small and cosy, playing into the stereotypical cottage core of living. The lighting is soft, and the smell of pumpkin seems to waft through into every room. Itâs calming, itâs peaceful, itâs something that makes Five feel on edge. He isnât used to the domestic life, away from the terror and destruction, trying to save the world over and over. He knows he canât stay here long, but he wonât miss the opportunity of a proper cooked meal.
After putting on the change of clothes, Five makes his way down the hall and into the kitchen, a small buffet waiting for him. He finds it hard not to drool, the potatoes and fresh pie, along with the fruit and vegetables heâd spotted earlier. It looks incredible. He takes a seat, as the woman places down a final plate of tomatoes, sitting down opposite Five.
They dish out the food, filling their plates as high as they can, especially Five. He tries not to look like a slob in front of the pretty girl, but finds it hard not to drop some things down his top. She doesnât seem to notice, or pretends not to.
The woman takes a sip of her drink, clearing her throat. âSo,â her soft voice makes Five look up from his plate. âDo you have a name or is that one of the many mysteries of the man shovelling food down his throat like he hasnât eaten in several years?â
The woman isnât afraid of being upfront. Five admires that. Although, itâs not surprising considering heâs a complete stranger sheâs trusted in her home. He puts down his knife and fork, grabbing a napkin to wipe his mouth.
âNo, I have a name. Itâs Fi-,â he catches himself, unsure if his ânameâ would just create more confusion, and unwanted questions. âJerome. Just, Jerome.â
The woman squints her eyes, but doesnât push further, seeming to move past his stumble. âOkay. I wouldnât have pegged you for a Jerome.â
Five shrugs, not knowing what else to say.
âMy names Y/N.â
Five nods. âOkay. Weâre closer already.â
âDonât push it,â Y/N says, a small smile gracing her face. Five canât help but pull the same expression.
***
After a hearty dinner, and some obvious awkward silences, Five insists on helping Y/N do the washing up. The sun was beginning to set, and Five knows heâll have to leave soon, but something stops him from doing so. He doesnât want to admit it, but this was the most relaxed heâd felt in a long time. The fear or worry of something bad happening wasnât there, and as he stands close to the woman he had barely met 2 hours ago, he realises what heâd been missing in his 60 something years. A place to live, with a person who makes him feel safe.
âJerome,â the voice breaks through his thoughts, as Five almost forgets the name heâd given to this woman. âI feel like weâve skirted around the topic enough. Is there any reason you were in the state you were in, taking refuge behind my greenhouse?â
Five places down the plate he was cleaning, turning to face her fully. Her expression is calm, and her voice shows no sign of interrogation. Itâs a first for Five, as heâs become accustomed to people prodding him for information only for their own benefit. No oneâs ever shown true interest in him.
He shrugs. âItâs been a tough couple of years. More than that I guess.â Fives eyes glaze over. âI havenât seen my family in a long time, and I donât know if I ever will. And if I do, Iâm terrified of the state that Iâll find them in.â
Y/N stops what sheâs doing, also turning to look at Five, a look of worry taking over her face. He knows heâs said more than he should have, but he couldnât help it. Heâs not good at sharing his feelings, and when he does, heâs scared of what will happen once the flood gates are opened. He isnât sure if heâll ever be able to close them.
âWhat dâyou mean? Are they in some kind of trouble?â She asks, a slight shake in her voice. âAre you in trouble?â
Five shakes his head, not wanting to stress out this poor woman whoâs been nothing but doting to him. âNo! No, I just,â he sighs, knowing heâs really put his foot in it. âI just care about them, a lot. Too much. And I donât even want to think about not seeing them again.â
A soft hand brushes against Fiveâs cheek, as he glances at Y/N wiping a tear away from his face. He didnât even realise heâd started crying. He sniffles, moving away and rubbing at his eyes, fearing how red they may look. He sucks in a deep breath, calming his beating heart. Whether itâs from talking about his family, or the touch from the woman next to him, he isnât sure. But he fears heâs overstayed his welcome.
Five moves away from the kitchen counter. âI guess I should probably go. Donât wanna miss my train.â Although he knows theyâll always be one there waiting for him.
He heads for the door, remembering to go upstairs and collect his dirty clothes before he leaves. Footsteps are heard from behind him.
âUh,â Five swivels back around, as Y/N hesitates over her words. âThis may seem kinda forward, and a dangerous move on my part, but, I wouldnât be able to sleep tonight knowing you were out there in the middle of the night, traveling by yourself.â
Five holds his breath, not wanting to jump the gun, but already anticipating the next sentence out of her mouth.
âI have extra pillows, and blankets.â Y/N shrugs. âItâs not the most comfortable couch but Iâd say itâs more comfortable than the chairs on the train.â
Neither of them speak for a while. Five ponders her offer over and over, wondering if this is something he wants to decline. He needs to get back to his family. He needs to get back to help them. But so far, every option has been a bust. Heâs not sure how much longer he can go on for. It could be the apocalypse all over again. Stuck for 40 years, traveling none stop, unsure if heâll ever see his loved ones again. Could a good nights sleep really be such a bad thing?
He thinks the risk is worth it. âAs long as itâs not too much trouble for you.â
***
That one good nights sleep turned into three months, staying at Y/Nâs home, crashing on her couch. It didnât stop Five from going out, back to the subway, trying to find the possible solution to his six year problem. But the more time he spent with the woman, the less time he wanted to spend away from her. They grew closer, making meals together, gardening together, watching silly romcoms together. While Y/N taught Five how to bake, Five taught her how to fight. A young woman living by herself? It didnât hurt knowing some basic defence skills.
Five didnât want to admit it, but his family hadnât crossed his mind as often as it usually did before he met Y/N. Heâd become soft, wanting to be around her all the time, not wanting to visit the subway as often as he should be. Heâs lucky enough to call her a friend. He hopes she calls him that too.
***
Itâs late, and Y/N is sat on the couch, crocheting a few pairs of gloves and a long overdue jumper. People used to make fun of her for it, calling her an old lady, but she finds it soothing. And making your own clothes is a big bonus too. Five, or Jerome as she knew him, had been out most of the day. She never questioned what he was up to, only that he returned safe, ready for whatever sheâd cooked up for him during the day. She wasnât completely naive in thinking âJeromeâ has involved himself in shady business. But unless he plans on telling her, then she wonât bother pushing him on the matter.
A bang echos from the back of the house, specifically inside the geeenhouse. It makes Y/N jump up from her seated position, quickly rushing out to the source of the noise. It can only be one person, or thatâs what she hopes. Either way, she grabs for her shears before entering the warm glass room.
âJerome?â She whispers, watching her step, the only light in the room coming from the moon through the windows.
A muffled groaning reaches her ears, as Y/N blindly moves her hands over the walls, trying to find the light switch. She finally does, and flicks it on. A sharp gasp comes out of her mouth, as the brightness finally reveals her new friend curled in a ball on the floor, rolling in pain.
âShit.â
She quickly makes her way over to him, delicately wrapping her arms around his waist and slowly helping him off the floor. He stumbles, knocking into a few pots, almost making them fall off the table.
âSorry,â he mumbles, the word slurring under his breath.
âDonât apologise,â she says, making sure heâs steady on his feet. âLetâs just get you inside and onto the couch.â
They make their way through into the living room, Five dropping haphazardly onto the soft cushions, while Y/N finally gets a proper look at him. His clothes are ripped, the once pristine suit (one she bought for him as a gift) now in tatters. His hair is sticking up in all different directions, and heâs clutching to his side like his life depends on it. She reaches for his arm, prying it away to reveal an array of bullet wounds, still bleeding.
âYou should see the other guy,â Five jokes, tilting his head back and trying to forget about the burning pain running across his body. Funnily enough, if Y/N saw the other guy, heâd look exactly like him, considering this all happened due to an unfortunate run in with apocalypse Five.
Y/N stares at him with wide eyes. âReally? Look, I donât bother asking where you go or what youâre up to when you leave this house, but I think nowâs the time you tell me the truth.â
Five moves his head back down, looking her in the eyes. Sheâs terrified. And he hates that. He breathes in deep, taking her hand in his.
âIf you can help me patch this shit up,â he briefly motions to his wounds, âthen Iâll tell you who I really am.â
So thatâs what they do. Y/N retrieves the first aid kit from her bathroom, while Five opens up about his life before he met her, and how heâs not from this timeline. He isnât sure if sheâs believing what he says, as she remains quiet the entire time, only occasionally looking up at him and quickly returning to removing the bullets lodged in his side. But she listens. And allows him to pour his heart out to her.
âThe past six years were torture. Somehow worse than the forty I spent in the apocalypse.â Five turns his head and stares at the woman next to him, as she finishes up her work. âBut these last few months with you. I could finally be normal. I could live a life most guys would kill to have. And Iâm so sorry I lied to you this long.â
They fall into silence, the pair somehow closer together than they were a few minutes ago. Both emotionally, and physically. Y/N moves her hand and takes his, squeezing tightly. Fiveâs heartbeat picks up speed, only now noticing their close proximity.
âSo your real name is âFiveâ?â He nods at her words. She nods back. âHmm. It suits you a lot better than Jerome.â
They both laugh half heartedly, as they stare deeply into each otherâs eyes. She moves her hand up to his hair, moving it out of his face, trying to calm it down slightly.
She carries on talking. âI canât even begin to imagine what youâve been through.â Five rolls his eyes. She doesnât even know the half of it. âBut if I can be the person to keep you grounded, for however long youâre here for, then Iâm happy to do just that.â
Five smiles, glancing quickly at her lips.
She does the same. âAnd I hope youâre here for a long time.â
They both lean in, softly pressing their lips against each otherâs. Five cups her face, deepening the kiss as Y/N rests her arms atop his shoulders. They move in sync, careful not to cause any more damage to Fiveâs wounds, as she somehow moves closer, one of her legs wrapping itself around his waist.
They donât stop, clothes discarded, bodies intertwined, as their growing tension is finally broken. Five isnât sure if heâll ever get back to his timeline, but for now, heâs happy to call this place home.
***
Another four months, and still no sign of a way back. Although, Five canât deny he hasnât been trying as hard as usual. The peace and tranquillity has consumed him whole, falling into a proper routine with the woman heâŚ
Is it love? Could he truly fall for someone like this? Someone who isnât involved in the shit show heâs grown accustomed to? Someone who wants that quiet life, watering flowers and baking pies, with him? Maybe itâs what he needs.
Five stands in the greenhouse, picking some fresh strawberries, and trying a few to see if they were ripe. Heâs already found the perfect recipe to use them in. Something he knows sheâll love.
As if reading his thoughts, a pair of arms slip around his waist. Y/N rests her chin on his shoulder, peaking over to see the basket full of fresh fruit. She picks one up, moving away and popping it in her mouth. Five turns and looks at her, smiling wide.
âThey taste perfect,â she says.
Five takes her wrists, pulling her towards him and kissing her lightly. âSo do you.â
She laughs, holding him close and breathing him in. âThe cheesy lines donât work on me, bub.â
âI think they do.â He mumbles, bringing her in for another kiss, sliding his hands up and down her back.
They stay like this for a while, holding each other in the warm glass room. The sun starts to set, as Five looks out and realises what time it is.
âDamn.â
She looks at him, confusion on her face. âWhatâs up?â
He shakes his head. âNothing, I just need to do a double check of the subway before dinner.â
Y/N tries not to show her anxiousness, but some of it seeps through. After Five explained to her what the subway is and why he goes there every day, sheâs terrified at the thought of him leaving and never coming back. But she knows he wouldnât do that to her. Not without saying goodbye.
She steps back. âRight. Promise youâll be safe?â
He kisses her on the cheek. âI promise.â

Five spends some time looking around the platform in the subway, checking the lights, checking the maps, even poking his head into the tunnels to see if anything has changed. But nothing. It all remains the same. No sign of his past life waiting for him. Was that such a bad thing?
Holding a small flashlight, he shines it up and down, left and right, hoping his eyes will catch something new. A sudden pop from above startles him, the grip he had on the flashlight loosening. It falls and rolls onto the tracks. Five looks up, noticing one of the bulbs now flickering. He huffs, moving to the edge of the platform and jumping down. He retrieves the flashlight, hitting it a few times to try and get it to work again. It comes to life, flashing in front of him. Thatâs when he spots something.
âThatâs new.â
Five walks over, grabbing the mystery object and holding it up. Itâs a plain notepad. He flips it open, scanning over the messy handwriting inside. His messy handwriting. He canât help but let out a tiny gasp, as he figures out what it all means.
âThis is it.â Tears form in his eyes. âThis is my way back home.â
Heâs shocked. Heâs elated. Heâs emotionally drained. This is his chance to rejoin his timeline. To see his family after so long. To fix the mess theyâve created. But all he can think about in this moment is Y/N. How the hell is he supposed to break the news to her?
***
After another hour spent pondering this new found information, Five slowly makes his way back home. His home. Where the life heâd built was waiting for him.
He enters the house and walks into the kitchen, where Y/N stands by the stove, boiling something sweet and caramelly. Five just stares at her; humming a random tune, wiping her messy hands on the apron he bought for her when her old one accidentally caught fire. That was the most stress heâd felt since coming here. And if that was the only stress he had to deal with, heâd take it every single day.
She finally turns and spots him, smiling wide. âOh hey! I was worried for a sec, you were taking longer than expected.â
She moves closer to him, pulling him into a tight embrace. He holds her, not wanting to let go. Y/N can tell something isnât right.
She leans back. âYou okay?â
Five doesnât reply, only holding the notepad out for her to take. She does so, flipping through the pages just like he did, her expression perplexed.
âI donât understand-â
âItâs the way back to my timeline.â
She looks up at him, mouth slightly open, as her words fall short. Five can swear he hears her heartbeat speed up, as her breathing becomes erratic. Five isnât sure what to do, waiting for an explosion of emotions to rain down on him. But nothing comes. Neither of them do or say anything.
Five chooses to break the silence. âI donât wanna lose you. I canât. I donât think I could live the way I used to live. Not after living this life with you.â
Y/N bites her lip, suppressing a sob. âYou have to go.â
Five furrows his brow, hoping he heard her wrong. He tilts her head up to stare into her eyes, seeing the tears forming.
âNo,â he whispers. âYouâve become the most important thing in my life. The thought of never seeing you again, I canât do that.â
A tear falls down her cheek, as Five reaches out to wipe it away.
âIâd love nothing more than to stay in this little bubble weâve created,â she replies, finding it hard to keep her voice steady. âBut your family, your timeline, all those people? They need you more than I do. And I know deep down, you canât bear the thought of letting them die, knowing you couldâve helped.â
Five wants to ask her to come with him. Become apart of his family. He knows sheâd get on with them all. And theyâd all love her, possibly more than they love him. But he knows itâs cruel to ask her to leave her life behind. The house, the garden, the home that sheâs worked so hard on. And the thought of throwing her into the thick of it all. Putting her at danger? No chance.
He pulls her into his embrace, kissing her hard. They hold each other tight, their lips bruising as neither of them can stop the tears from falling.
Y/N is the first to pull away. âIf you ever get the chance to come back to this timeline, you know where to find me.â
Five smiles, not wanting to let her go. He kisses her once more. âIn the greenhouse, tasting just as sweet as the strawberries.â
