I'm thinking I need a complete reset right now. I've been eating like crap and have been half-assing my workouts and just not really in the mindset I want to be in. So I'm gonna start taking things little by little and not put so much pressure on myself to give it my all right out of the gate. I think I expected too much and when I didn't reach my expectations I felt defeated. So I'm gonna give myself smaller goals and more reachable goals that I know I'll be able to exceed. I've always believed in a positive mindset but I've begun practicing mindfulness and positive thoughts this past month. I don't dwell or even allow negativity in my life or in my thoughts. When I feel something negative creeping in to my thoughts, I immediately push it out and focus on the positive things that are taking place and the things I am grateful for. Focusing on surrounding myself with positive energy has brought so many amazing things into my life. My Experience with BBG

A lot of you are familiar with BBG, or the Bikini Body Guide, the world wide workout phenomenon created by Personal Trainer Kayla Itsines and her partner Toby Pearce. Many girls have tried or finished the workout guides. I’m sure most who haven’t tried it are wondering if it is worth it. I’ve completed the guides twice and have started them and failed to complete probably a dozen times. I’m here to tell you my true thoughts of BBG are.
If you don’t know what BBG is, let me brief you. Kayla Itsines is a Australian trainer known all around the world. Her BBG guide began as a 12 week workout guide where you do 3 strength interval training workouts per week and 3-4 cardio workouts per week. She also started with an eating guide e-book. After gaining popularity, she came out with a second guide, and then grew into the app and has released a recipe book and a book on motivation since. If you didn’t know, now you know.
I was introduced to BBG from a friend. After 2 weeks of her talking about the workouts and how stoked she was about it, I gave in and tried them as well. The first BBG workout I did was probably the most vigourous workout I have ever done to this day (mind you, this was about 4 years ago and I’ve done 10 mile mud runs since then). In those 28 minutes I really thought I was going to die. Looking back, I don’t even know why I didn’t just stop. I think that’s the appeal of BBG - even from the start - the mindset of it only being a 28 minute workout pushes you to keep going. By the fourth week, I was doing full pushups. Yep, pushups, with my knees OFF of the floor. I had never been able to do those in my life! My first round lasted about 7 weeks and I fell off the wagon. I tried again a couple of months later but it didn’t last.

The next January, Kayla had come out with an app and I decided to give it another go since the app would make it easier. I was on vacation when I started it which helped even more. I had started a fitness Instagram account a couple of months before but starting BBG motivated me to find friends doing it as well, and this really began the true start of my Instagram account. When I got back home, I went to a BBG meetup in Phoenix and got to meet a lot of the girls I had been talking to on Instagram. They were so sweet! There were at least (probably more) 30 girls at this meetup. I though it was so cool to be able to meet so many like minded people that were doing the same workout as I was!
I started going to the meetups monthly and meeting more people. Some of them I would meet at the events then go on Instagram later to follow them and realized we already followed each other! This part of BBG is my favorite part, the community. Meeting up with the girls to workout and grab brunch afterwards really gave me a boost and I ended up completing the entire 12 week guide for the first time! I never weighed or measured myself, so I can’t give any statistical results, but have a look for yourself. Voila!

Obviously I got crazy results from this, and I had noticed a huge gain in strength and endurance. The only thing about it was I didn’t care for how it toned my body. I felt like while I did shrink, I was the same shape. That just made me feel like I was just burning fat but not really gaining muscle.Regardless, it did help me tremendously. Through those 12 weeks I was able to train and did a Tough Mudder!
The next year and a half was the on and off train again. Then this past January I decided I was going to begin doing the workouts again, only I was going to tweak it to work for me. This time, I did the interval workouts and that was it. For cardio, I was doing Zumba 2-3 times a week and cycling once per week. Plus I walk my dog twice a day which I counted as LISS (lower-intensity sustained state cardio). In addition to that, I was doing yoga every day in another challenge. My eating regime was plant based this time around.

This time I had gained much more than a weight loss, because I was doing other things, and I had gained self love as well. I was going to try to continue after the 12 weeks, but after a couple of weeks in I got burned out which helped me realize one of the problems I have with this program, the timelines. The whole time I would be in the action of a workout, I was thinking about getting to the finish rather than being present in the moment and thinking about the actual movements and muscles I should be using. While I was logging my workouts, I was thinking about what week I was on and how much closer that was to week 12 rather than thinking about how far I had already came. For me, the way this is designed only makes my type-A personality look at it as a task to get done rather than a lifestyle and hobby.
So there is my review on BBG. I would say the pit is that its made for girls already in shape to tone, and for those looking to lose weight you shrink down but can’t really change your shape using the workout plan. The peak for me is the community of amazing women you get to be a part of. We haven’t had a meetup in quite some time, but I keep in touch with a lot of the girls still and it’s great to have friendships with genuine people. In addition to the Arizona girls, I have become friends with people all over on Instagram. I’m not sure if many of us are even doing BBG anymore. Some are running their own training businesses, some have moved on to other workout programs, and others are just doing their own thing. I don’t know if I plan on doing BBG ever again, but I wouldn’t tell anyone not to try it. It is a great program and if you follow it, you will get results in some fashion and you if you plug yourself in you can make some great friends!

Week 1
Sport ●BBG - Bikini Body Guide from Kayla Itsines● I follow her plan for one week now and I felt good all the time. I was NOT a sporty person before and I dislike sport a lot because I was not good in it and i was to lazy. And I lost 2 years ago 20kg without sport so I thought I can do this again. And sure I can, but I want to be fit and not the person who is always behind the other because it is so slow. I decided to follow the plan from Kayla because I see all the good results and I think it would fit to me. I want to follow a plan because it’s easier to stay motivated and I learn about fitness. I never liked sport but now it’s a lot of fun and I realise, that it slowly becomes and addiction.
Day 1 Day 1 was leg day. I didn,t think it was that difficult to do. I needed more time than 28 minutes because I was so slow. I hope this will change soon. After day 1 my leg hurts for 4 days! Day 2 I just did the LISS training by walking fast half an hour. Day 3 Day 3 was an arms and abs day. This is hard for me. I have so less muscles in my stomach so it was pretty hard for me. But I did it. As slow as always but I did it. Day 4 I did LISS by walking fast for half an hour. Day 5 Day 5 was a full body training. I think it was easier than the other trainings. I’m still slow but I notice that it gets better. (On that day I swam for half an hour too.) Day 6 I did LISS and then the streching from the plan. Day 7 Day 7 is a rest day.
Weightloss and body change ●Weight● 06.02.2017: 59,1kg 12.02.2017: 59,1kg So I maintained. I don’t worry about this. I think I build some muscles and lose weight after some weeks when my muscles didn’t build up that fast.

I’m so happy about this. Sure I don’t lose that much. But it’s the first time in my whole life my lower legs did’t touch! I’m so excited and happy about this. I always hate it but it gets all better. I feel very motivated for the next weeks.

Why do I go on exercising? I'm so often being said - you lost so much weight, you can stop now, you're going to disappear otherwise. Well, that's not exactly what I'm gonna do, sorry to disappoint those people. What I've done so far is not a quick fix (well, not that quick, it took me 19 months to get where I am (from pic 1 to pic 2). I didn't do it to lose just weight. There's so much more than just a number on the scale (which I don't even use by the way... girls, never get caught in the scales trap!) I'm gonna continue to workout because it's an investment for my future. Moving daily, putting on some muscle mass, eating in a balanced way most of the time leads to a healthier future me. I'm 41 now. I've had some severe preeclampsia issues in my pregnancies and I'm surely prone to cardiovascular problems in certain situations, one of which is being overweight. So this is one serious and important reason why keeping fit is what I'm gonna do. _ So please always remember there is so much more to it than just us taking selfies in best possible light, posing to show our progress and writing daily about our workouts and food. Been in a lull for the past couple weeks so this #flashbackfriday is solely for me. It's so hard to maintain the motivation and drive to keep going and keep working hard when the progress isn't as quick and as drastic as you want it to be. So I dug into the vault and found one of my least favorite pictures of me at my heaviest in 2014 and found and put on the same tank top and took a picture so I could remind myself of how far I actually have come. Take the time to re-ask yourself why you're doing what you're doing; what your goals are; and what you want to accomplish. Touch base with yourself and while you use other people and other things to motivate yourself, don't forget that you can use yourself as motivation as well!!
