This is my two year old baby boy Keplar, aka the mortal enemy of my marine nano aquarium Purrling Reef.

A few weeks ago I had to put fortifications around the tank because he kept attempting to hunt my Ocellaris clownfish Moby and Purrling's other inhabitants as well.

I love Keplar dearly but he also recently decided that my emergancy airline's airstone did not actually 'need' to actually be in the water. The problem is, Keplar happens to have ferociously sharp claws, which I am very well acquainted with personally thanks to the fact that he loves rearing up against my leg when he is hungry to get my attention as well as recently, hopping up on my shoulder. So, this morning I discovered that he had finally poked enough holes in the airline that not enough air was making it to the airstone in the water anymore.

Why is this important, you ask? Because should the power go out - which it does reasonably frequently here although mercifully usually only for a few hours - the regular injection of air bubbles into the water from the air stone will keep my water oxygenated, therefore keeping Purrling's beloved (and expensive) marine inhabitants alive.

(And what do I mean by expensive? Oh ho - saltwater fish are not your $5 Betta splendens or cheap $2 zebra danio of yore - my baby clownfish cost me $24 - which is cheap for a marine fish. His neighbour yellow watchman goby Clyde cost $40, and I expect my future royal gramma basslet to cost between $80-$100. I'm lucky because the fish that I can get for my little tank are actually relatively inexpensive. It's not uncommon for reef fish to cost $100-$400+ a pop.)

Lieutenant Skitter the blue eyed hermit crab was a fortunate nab: my livestock dealer gave him to me for free because he felt bad that I had driven an hour to see him and he didn't have any of the fish that I wanted in stock.

So, first thing's first: I attempted to repair the airline with black electrical tape which is both waterproof and reasonably Keplar-proof.

Unfortunately, the tube was too far gone, so I had to replace the whole thing. I armoured this in electrical tape too.

Success!

Another thing I did as an anti-Keplar measure is let the back and sides of my tank become absolutely covered in beautiful algae. The algae naturally blocks Keplar from looking in and the fish from looking out so that they only have to deal with my snuggly feline demon from one angle. (I do plan on wrapping these sides with dark construction paper in the future because the algae may disappear once I add corals and the algae no longer has those nutrients to munch on.)

While Moby and Clyde are scared of Keplar, my newest addition yellow-tailed damselfish Jewel doesn't mind him and happily watches him back. In fact, she seems less afraid of Keplar than she is of me! I hope that Moby and Clyde will learn from her brave example. A lot of people despise damselfish because a lot of them can be jerks (fun fact: clownfish are also damselfish,) but marine fish breeder ORA swears that Jewel's species is mellow. So far, ORA is right and Jewel is doing an awesome job of doing what I bought her for - being a 'dither' fish. Dither fish are fish whose confident swimming inspires calm in more nervous ones, like Moby, who I swear was getting depressed before I introduced her. Now he's eating again and swimming more readily around the aquarium!

Hopefully Jewel won't harass the royal gramma (to be named Amphritite) when I get it; I plan on buying a little pen to secure Jewel while I introduce Amphi. I doubt that Jewel will pose any issue with the introduction of Moby's future mate, Cousteau, as Cousteau should flock straight to Moby. Eventually (soon, hopefully,) I will supply Moby and Cousteau with at least a couple of LPS coral from the genus Euphillia - hammers and frogspawns, specifically. Torch corals are nastily aggressive to other corals and need lots of space so I won't be adopting any (they are horrendously expensive anyway.) Hammers and frogspawns also need space but I factored that into the design of my aquascape with a seperate little island for them.

Marine aquarium keeping is a really fun and complex learning curve; there's so much that I am still learning and perfecting! (Like temperature; I thought that I had that figured, but I don't yet. I honestly think that I need a higher wattage heater because the one I have doesn't seem to be maintaining temps well enough. I accidentally left the floor fan beside the aquarium on last night and my water temps plunged from 25°C to 18.3°C. Fortunately my temperature controller's alarm went off and I was able to quickly turn off the fan!)

I'm enjoying this very slow adventure. Every new livestock addition makes my tank so much more interesting and I can't wait to see how Purrling Reef will look a year from now!

I’ve been through a lot of pain lately. I’ve been through a lot of pain in general. So I decided to share a little comic about it.

It’s just one of the things I’ve been going through and it’s not even completely in depth. There are many other aspects. Despite all of it though, I wanted to kind of... I dunno... let some of it out through silly art :)

Not Danny not anybody else enjoys nosy reporters but they can't go against them exactly (free of information or something like that) so all the reporters caught sneaking in are sent to a tiny cell (different and far away from the heroes) for seven days and seven nights. That's how you end with an underground world convention with reporters from Le monde, Al Jazeera, The Globe, Marca, Spiegel, Daily Buthan, The Hindu, Harian Metro, etc. all trapped in the ice castle jail. Only Ireland and Wales refused to send a reporter, they are smarter than that.

They all agree that it is amazing that these creatures can understand and talk with anybody in their mother tongue (bc the dead speak any language) even if they only speak in riddles (it's bc they hate reporters and refuse to give a straight answer but it checks with fae legends so nobody questioned it). Another thing they (the reporters) all agree on is that they are either incredibly beautiful or incredibly ugly, no in-between (which also checks with fae legends) and apparently the ugly ones are more popular? (Star is now Lunch Lady's apprentice for reasons and when some mean reporters made some comments about her body Star jumped to passionately defend her saying that she was beautiful and had a loving family)

The reporters also mention their estrange naming conventions: Star, Lunch Lady, Fright Night, Dawn (they misunderstood Kwan name), Dash, etc. And wrongly conclude that those who have human names is bc they stole it from somebody else (third thing that checks with fae legends, some people are starting to regret their career choice, others are starting to convert). When Amity Park citizens find out they think it's hilarious so they start to change their names to sound more fae.

Moxxie Redesign! (2/4)

You didn’t think I forgot about this did you? ‘,:/

I wanted to base Moxxie off of what his name actually implies, having nerve and determination. Ive almost entirely changed his personality in certain ways. He is still an assassin but he takes his job very seriously and struggles with his inner morals because of this. Being berated by Blitz often leads to him pushing aside his concerns with his job and causing internal conflict instead that he typically only ever talks to these issues about Millie. She is trying to get him to consider therapy but he doesn’t want to lose his “sparkle” (he gives in eventually and goes and it goes fine, this would be around season 2 but definitely after episode 6)

Moxxie also doubles as a medic for any potential injuries at I.M.P (this happens often). Moxxie was also born in greed so he has the more aquatic qualities of a greed imp such as the little headlamp, frills, and gills. And for any fish nerds, yes I know only female angler fish have headlamps, thats the point. Viv has literally no main trans characters so I guess I have to do everything myself. Plus I’m tired of the super straight shit that happened a few years back, Millie isn’t any less straight for dating a trans man. I think Moxxie certainly struggles with his masculinity and also takes his job so seriously as a way to prove to himself that he’s meeting some sort of “masculinity criteria” however he’s fully aware of how silly the mindset is (hes working on it). I think som trans imps may definitely paint their horns like Moxxie, but with certain days I really doubt he gives much of a shit considering it probably gets chipped a lot anyway.

Moxxie still hates his upbringing and the greed ring leaves a sour taste in his mouth, however he prefers to use his knowledge and features from greed in his work. For example, preforming minor surgery under his headlight, it’s goofy as hell and I think any show benefits from some extent of stupid silliness like that. It’s also good for distractions!

Moxxie isn’t always super serious like in this art either, he’s still a bit stupid but still respects himself. Tough nut to crack because of his past but is very kind underneath somewhere.

Heres some notes I went off while working!

- glasses (REQUIRED. Give him those stupid little circle spectacles)

- Get rid of the stupid suit

- Maybe some interesting horn stuff?

- Make him look a bit more like his voice, not sure how to describe this

- Write a boyloser properly

- Probably doubles as a medic? I think he’d be interested in medicine with all that errrm akshully energy he has

- Make him actually look like an adult (I tried)

- More of a fishy tail

- Born in wrath but both parents are greed imps so he has those features + moved back when he was like 6 idk

- Or idk maybe imps change the longer theyre in a certain ring? Could be fun

I have a lot more I could talk about with this guy but I’ll save it for some other posts :3

Ah, Fresh, what a silly fella. He usually doesn't cause many problems, so Stitch doesn't mind his presence but is aware of what he is. They just keep an eye on him just so he wouldn't do something fishy that might be problematic for them.

As much as Stitch is concerned, Fresh isn't really a threat for them. And, regarding therapy, it is painfully obvious that Fresh doesn't need it in the slightest.
