All this talk of divorce has reminded my of a twitter conversation I had about Shen Jiu taking custody of YQY's cat, despite having no particular fondness for the creature, specifically to punish YQY (and ofc, to serve as a living reminder of YQY when SJ's home feels unbearably empty in his absence). I think that perfectly summarizes my take on qijiu divorce. 

The core conflict of their divorce(s) will always be that YQY wants SJ to be happy, and SJ wants YQY to be miserable. These two goals are inherently at odds. To YQY, the goal of the divorce is to give SJ as much as possible so that he can ensure SJ is well taken care of, even if he can't do so directly. To SJ, the goal is to make this a bitter, painful process.

YQY's attempts to easily roll over are an insult, a sign of how little YQY cares, or a suggestion that SJ can just be bought off, or an accusation that SJ was the one leaching off of YQY anyways. It is going to be so awful and messy and they're going to traumatize everyone else in the court room, and its is INCREDIBLY fortunate that they're a dual income no kids household (if there was a child, I think it would go much the same as the aforementioned cat). And then they're do it all again in a year or two.

Summary:

Having a cute little wedding tradition with your beloved husband.

Note:

guys if you know about this tradition then it's good to know but if you don't, well allow me to explain. After the wedding, the bride and groom are asked to find a ring that's hidden in a huge pot filled with milk, kumkum, turmeric and flower petals, so as to reduce the transparency. The one who wins is said to be the dominant one in the relationship. It's just a playful game. If you do not know about this tradition just consider that you get to know about this tradition and you were really interested in doing this ceremony and how could your dear husband say no to you?

When you told Suguru about how you were interested in this ceremony, you thought maybe Suguru would play it off by saying that this is a silly game, we need not do it. To your surprise, Suguru listened patiently and was even more invested in it.

"Sounds great, we should do it." Suguru smiled and looked at you lovingly.

"OH MY GOD?! Can we really?" You seemed surprised and hugged him tightly, muttering thank you's to him. Suguru laughed putting his left hand behind your head to caress you, hugging you back.

"Aw is my baby that much excited about dominating me?" He teased, brushing his fingers around your hair, kissing the crown of your head, smiling softly at you. It is intriguing, how it seems like happiness was following him whenever he was around you. Smallest act of yours made his heart swell up with joy.

"Wow, you are shameless." You chuckled, playing with the hem of his shirt, "I didn't know my husband was such a dirty man." You laughed kissing the tip of his nose, trying to hide your smile.

Suguru gasped dramatically, " Me and shameless? I was just simply talking about what you told me, not my fault you took it the wrong way." He puts his hand at his heart, and sighed dramatically. "God, I didn't know my wife was such a pervert. I was scammed into this marriage." He sighed dramatically, trying to control his laugh.

You laughed in disbelief, you can never win against him. He's lucky that he's hot, always using his face to an advantage, I mean how much can your poor heart handle?

"Just you wait, I'll win and then I will MUAHAHAHAHA–" You said trying to mimick a scary laugh, Suguru looked at you smiling at you trying to scare him off, how cute you are, he thought.

"Oh yeah?" He whispered seductively, looking at you like a shark looks at it's prey, "then I'll see you try, Mrs. Geto" Suguru smirked at you, you got embarassed due to him eyeing you up.

The house was full of chattering, your family members, Suguru's friends, the bustling sounds of people talking around the house, some sitting, some fixing their clothes, some taking pictures, the house was looking so beautiful. At the centre of the room you and Suguru sat , eyeing each other. Suguru looking dashing as ever, his hair in a manbun, his bangs illuminating and shining when the light falls on his face, between you, there's a pot full of milk, turmeric, kumkum and some flower petals, and a ring that you have to search for. Suguru is looking at you, you looked so excited, he had always wanted to marry you, start a family with you, he still couldn't believe that he was married to you and now you were his wife, his heart was beating fast. You were looking so beautiful.

You looked at him, waving your hand in front of his face cause he looked deep in thought.

"What happened? Are you alright?" You asked him, he nodded his head smiling at you.

"Keep zoning out like that and I'll win." You cockily said to him. He just smirked, giving you, "I'll see you try" look.

Soon enough, after some time you both put your hand inside the milk pot, everyone patiently waiting to see who will win, Suguru winked at you, your eyes widened, embarrassed, forgetting about the game. Soon after, you came back to your senses, he's trying to charm you with his looks, thinking you will fall for it, you did. Not your fault he's so handsome. You searched for the ring, your hand bumping against his, he poked at his cheek, concentrating on searching the ring. He's so hot, you thought. After that, Suguru would deliberately brush his hand against your fingers, sometimes even squeezing them.

You still couldn't find the ring damnit. You searched hurriedly but to no avail. Suguru suddenly brushed his hand against your palm and passing something in your palm, it was the ring. You got embarrassed , shyly looking up at him, only to find him already looking at you. This man will be the death of you. He's dangerous, illegal even.

You gave him your "what are you doing" look and he just smiled and mouthed something, something which made you utterly embarassed, you just hoped nobody caught him, what is he even doing in front of all these people and especially your parents. He really is shameless.

Your eyes widened in shock. Did he just winked at you? He was really a cheeky bastard, you put out your hand with the ring, everyone clapped for you. Suguru just looked at your embarassed face, clapping for you and tried to hide his smile, he was so happy

"Congratulations, Mrs. Geto." He said, teasing you, as if he wasn't the one who gave you that ring.

He didn't care about who the winner of the game was from the start, he just wanted to make you happy, he didn't care. Even Satoru would often make fun of him for being such an obedient puppy for you, always spoiling you, he didn't care. He could be anything you wanted him to be. He will do whatever you want. For God sake, he literally worships the ground you walk on, no pun intended . Even though he sometimes tease you, he's still afraid that his love will overwhelm you. Well, only if he knew you are also down bad for him as he is.

The next dish was the Steamed Red Grouper Hong Kong style with superior soy sauce, spring onions and red chilli but all we saw was a small chunk of fish flesh in a bowl. I was telling the others that we don’t know if the fish was actually a red grouper until the wait staff placed the fish head on the lazy susan. At least I enjoyed the fresh succulent and sweet fish dressed in soya sauce.

The chickens must be lamenting that they died in vain as we diners never gotten to see the crispy Bi Feng Tang (避风塘) style Roasted Chicken gloriously spread out (展翅高飞) in front of us with spiced almond flakes and crunchy prawn crackers for garnish. Both my colleague and I were served mostly breast meat which was dry as we never gotten the chance to choose the part of the chicken we would like to eat plus my plate came with just half an almond flake. :(

Next up, the Conrad Duo of deep-fried prawn ball wrapped with breadcrumb and sautéed scallop with asparagus in home-made XO sauce. The fried prawn ball is crispy on the outside with crunchy prawn inside. A single lonely scallop sat beside the old and fibrous asparagus as the skin wasn’t peeled. The savoury spicy sauce however brightened up the flavours of this tough vegetable.

The Abalone and Spinach I have nothing much to comment on other than the slice of paper-thin sea snail. Love the thick mushroom among the blanched leaves of spinach drenched in oyster sauce though.

The Ee-fu Noodles or yi mein (伊面) got to be my favourite dish of the night. This noodle is typically present on wedding menu due to the fact it is also referred to as longevity noodles (寿面). Stewed with shimeji mushroom, lumps of crabmeats and chives, where it had soaked up the wholesome flavours. So good that I finished two bowls of it.

The Chilled Cream of Avocado with Coral Weed was a big disappointment for all of us due to the avocado soup coming with pieces of hard, almost crunchy coral weed, akin to eating chicken soft bone. I would prefer something less exotic like cubed honeydew melon or even jellies.

Overall, the food was pretty delicious though the service is kind of lacking as the wait staffs were busy portioning the food to notice our empty glasses. My colleague was commenting that he had only this one cup of passionfruit drink from start till end of the banquet and no one came to ask if he would like a refill. I am also sure the chefs would have preferred to let the diners see their beautiful, crafted creations even if for only a few short seconds rather than the hastily assembled carved-out portions.

I'm not sure what I've been watching that made youtube decide I needed to rewatch large chunks of Pirates of the Caribbean 3: At World's End, but in reference to this scene:

I think we can all agree that, whatever your opinions of the third POTC movie,

a) Barbossa is the best character in this entire franchise

and b) this is the best wedding scene ever put to screen
