S Tier (i listen to new episodes the second they drop)

Know Your Enemy. look Matt and Sam just have such an exceedingly good vibe. when they talk about something i actually know they never feel like they're doing an unfair or one-sided treatment of it. they're both massive intellectual history nerds. and they do that without, y'know, sacrificing Principles and Taking A Stand in the name of pseudointellectual fairness. occasionally they bring on a guest that pisses me off but that's fine. good things for this podcast forever

A Tier (i'm excited when i have new episodes to listen to)

Normal Gossip. quality varies a decent amount season-to-season but at its heart, it's some bitches Talking Shit about some people you'll never meet in an entertaining way. entirely my jam. hell yeah

The Recipe with Kenji and Deb. good vibes, i learn a couple things about food usually, i am really dumb about cooking so it's not hard for me to learn new things but i sure do learn

The Bonhoeffer Podcast. my current listen. egregiously niche subject. clearly run in a no-frills low-production-value by some random academic. and it rules. tell me the niche internecine theological conflict random dudes with shitty internet connections I Need To Know

Drive to Work with Mark Rosewater. he gets repetitive if you listen to too many episodes at once. but. the head designer of Magic: the Gathering is just as compelling in podcast form as he is in his writing. love that shit

B Tier (i'll go to these reasonably-frequently)

Odd Lots. episodes are rarely standouts but rarely uninteresting either. vibe between the hosts is good

Designer Notes. pros: did a 3hr interview with Cole Wehrle who i do have a brain-crush on. cons: most guests aren't Cole Wehrle

The Kongversation. look it's just some guys nostalgia'ing hard over ye olde Rare/Nintendo games but they're oddly fun/compelling about it

BS-Free Witchcraft Podcast. i have an affection for tetchy neopagans who are somewhat grounded about it and this dude's pretty solid on that front

C Tier (fine, if i must. OR, yes i listen but i feel guilty about it)

If Books Could Kill. ok so the problem with Michael Hobbes is that he's not particularly intellectually honest. the problem with Peter Shamshiri is that he's definitely not intellectually honest and also a dick about it. unfortunately they are both very ENTERTAINING.

i feel a little less guilty listening to them in this format because like. dunking on The Secret is just having a good time, it's a sporking, everyone already knows the book sucks.

it's still unvirtuous that i listen to this one but sometimes i need to listen to familiar stupid dunks as i fall asleep yaknow

Ezra Klein: my husband absolutely bodied me the other day when i listened to Joe Rogan for the first time, for Civic Education Reasons™, and before i could begin to describe the experience he was like "let me guess, it's like Ezra Klein but for center-right gym bros." and fuck me if that's not egregiously accurate. they share a certain combo of "weirdly credulous" + "have a few specific Weird Anxieties they're fixated on." in Klein's case that anxiety is focused on factory farming & in Rogan's case it's focused on like weird AI conspiracies. in both cases they are aggressively vanilla and mid but sometimes Klein gets an okayish guest. Klein's REALLY had a lot of anxiety lately tho so i've found him harder to take, cannot be part of your secondhand anxiety bro

i'm aware there's weightier/better podcasts out there, but i'm mostly listening to podcasts while driving or doing chores, so i need podcasts to hit this weird sweet spot of "intellectually serious enough i don't turn the thing off" but also "well-produced / attention-grabbing enough that it's entertaining even if i can only devote half my brain to it (because, y'know, driving/cleaning)." so most podcast recs don't work on me. and for some reason a lot of popular podcasts (planet money, most NPR ones, etc) are like nails-on-chalkboard for me. maybe i just need to get into audiobooks or something lol but yeah that's what i'm relying on for now

anyway kaisa with hilda after she starts dating johanna or even marries her

either way i don't think hilda would call her mum or smth like, she just doesn't and kaisa respects that. hilda calls her by her name and kaisa calls her 'kiddo' mostly, sorry not sorry.

also kaisa not very much liking anders but understanding he's important to hilda although he did hurt johanna with him leaving and basically being not a great co-parent/partner for most of time. she gives him a chance to be present now and she's not going to ruin it for hilda ((also my perosnal hc that her parents divorced when she was a kid bit it was pretty okayish so kaisa wants hilda to not ever have to hear how one step-parent bullshits on bio parent))

anders would be lowkey awkward with kaisanna happening but he's supportive, i imagine he tells kaisa something like "you're making her happy, i can tell that. she never smiled like this way with me". fight me but i believe johanna met anders in college and she admitted to him during breaking up she just can't feel anything towards men at all (she's a late bloomer lesbian!!!) and he has this "wild" thought that she may be lesbian but thinks that's not it. WELL

although hilda likes kaisa i believe she would have need some time to adjust. yk, it always been her and johanna, now the third one is coming and... hilda wants the best for her mum but she's only a child so it would be natural for her to be a bit battled about this. either way, she absolutely accepts it tho she's probably the last person to understand it, sorry not sorry (frida, david and louise know before her. they just do)

Why I'm so … away lately:

Spending my freet time with my Info PDFs on Vijay and Ryder.

This project is somewhat insane and ate already a lot of free time (doing all the casual outfit shots alone). I know I do not need to present it in this way, but as the graphic designer who I am, I enjoy doing this way too much! I just love to create layouts and in this way I also make use of my own VP pics as well in a secondary usage. It is something I cannot life out in my daily job. I've always wanted to create some sort of a guideline. And my ocs are just perfect for that. I wanna do Thyjs and Jaysen as well ofc but I won't start with them for a while. Ry and V need to be done first, then I 'll look into other priorities (e.g. roleplay story -> + turn it into fanfic, get more creative in VP, help some modders maybe) for a while and then I go back to getting this done for Thyjs and Jaysen as well. <3

So what about these documents?

of all they provide some huge help for me to have the best overview possible on their main mods and clothes I use for them. Once this is done, I can just open the PDFs and click onto the links that bring me to the mod page of a specific mod. I've been asked a few times what I used so this will help me find it within no time. Searching on nexus is sometimes a whole pain for me when you do not know the title of the mods. And I don't want to keep everything in "tracked mods" either except for the core mods such as CET, archive XL etc. needed for the game.

it hopefully does a good service to the lovely @gloryride who's going to turn both, Vijay and Ryder, into NPVs soon <3 I want her to have it as easy as I can make it (hopefully it works how I imagined it). So she's got everything neately sorted to look up in lists — especially for the outfits I want to include — even though I'm going to send over all the needed stuff. But if there's need to look it up you can just simply klick on the link that brings you to the nexus page that has the usual additional info, original mods (since my are renamed with prefixes) and who it belongs to.

it also will serve for everyone who wants to take pics of my boys in the future. Because I do love to share them and I wanna see how they look through other VPer's eyes! Therefore I added a short backstory, character dates and inspiration, likes and dislikes so you can imagine them better plus every up to this date outfit I've got for them so far. A bunch of outfits will be included to their NPVs but not all since both have already something between 15-20 outfits and some mods require permission for NPV (it takes ags for me to ask permission). I assume people love more to take pics with NPV rather than having to install all their mods (tho Ry's and V's are okayish; Thyjs on the contrary has like approx. 50 main mods alone lol) but I'll still provide both once I'm done. Dunno how often I'll update these docs since there will always be new outfits for them.

My ass is absolutely not on fire about "Castlevania: Nocturne".

Well, if you remove the word "Castlevania" from "Castlevania: Nocturne", you'll get a pretty good animated series. It needs to be said that I watched first Castlevania just with common facts of this universe and game experience of Lords of the Shadows. I liked the show (tho it had it's own disadvantages). And I really waited for the continuation of it. Even when I saw the first trailer of Nocturne my expectation were at the veeeeeeery low level. The idea of taking course to the historical events seemed not very good to me, because if to mix them with Castlevania's world it will surely turned into goo-mix of something strange and unlogical. Designs were +\- okayish, despite piano in the bushes - Drolta. Like, wtf is this mix of Nicki Minaj and Lady Gaga doing here? By the trailer it was already a fact that happened classic Netflixifiction, but I forced myself to think that it's not that bad. So I watched this new season. Aaaaaand if to be short - it's bleh. Thank you for your attention, have good day, bye. If not to be short - hmmm, where should I start? Promotion said the events will take their place at French Revolution, but we see like 0 things about except few very short scenes and the main idea of the Crew of Fighting Kids. Maybe it will be shown in the future seasons, but not now. The biggest dissapointment to me - characters. Richter Belmont, the most powerful of the all generations of Belmont clan is... weak crybaby. He can do shit. This is all. Annette is absolute OC. She changed her race, story and I bet she could kick both Drolta's and Erzsebet's asses with her left finger, but Netflix decided that it will be too much. Drolta went through bimbofication and now she is a vampire? a demon? a latex inventor? I think that the creators of the show themselves do not fully understand this. Erzsebet now is the egyptian goddess avatar and even older than Dracula. Typical white-skinned egyptian (I swear I almost heard her saying "Eat shit old dick"). You know, these new extra-powerful sequel's characters whom anyone never heard anything about. Olrox, aztec gay vampire. Aka Quetzalcoatl. Powerful bottom. Mizrak, mestizo\mulatto gay Malta knight. He is such a himbo that chainmail fits tight on him and his barber secretly make his job every fucking day. The plot, motivation of the characters, logic - this all were thrown into the toilet. Yep, in one scene we see that vampires kills a lot of people just in one town, people terrified, and in another - how they are partying with humans on the streets. In this season vampires can beat the sun with umbrellas, levitate, turn into half-demons and hell knows anything else, but can't fly away from the wide cage in their bat-shape. Annette don't give a shit about Richter and even get really mad about him, then BOOM. She is suddenly have romantic feelings to him. And he have feelings to her too (but this is lie, we are all know that he likes milfs). This all looks like the situation with Resident evil Netflix tv series, when the absolutely side story used the brand name to get views. It's also very obviously that the budget was terribly cut, because some animations looks like they were at least halfly AI-animated. No offence to the real animators of the show, you did good work, guys. As I said before - it could be a good show if it was just "Nocturne". Thank you for your attention.

s1ep22 and ep23 ladybug and cat noir & stoneheart, origins pt1 and 2

what a choice for netflix/the u.s. to release these episodes in the middle of the season. but what an even wilder choice for the "as close to canon from the word of god" to release these episodes three episodes away from the end of the first season. from the u.s. standpoint i can kinda understand since the seasons are always broken into two parts, and since a lot of 24 episode anime is often broken into two parts, it seems pretty normal. but three episodes away from the end of the season? why not just at the end of the first season???

i don't have much here to say other than the fact that these poor voice actors have to talk as two times the speed just to say their long-ass lines in the incredibly short amount of time they're given to say them. which is why the episodes feel so sped up. like, these actually felt okayish pacing wise. but whenever they had to say like 3 sentences in 30 seconds, i winced.

smth smth the whole hawkmoth premise/set-up doesn't really make sense to me. i wish i could put my finger on it bc then i could properly describe it and critique it. but the vibes are just off man. maybe it'll make more sense as i learn more about the miraculous and all the loose threads these two episodes set up and never answer (i assume. i'll give it the benefit of the doubt, but since it stopped airing at s5 and i got no inclination we actually got any answers from what i did see after i stopped watching, i'm not hopeful).

i will say tho, chloe as a character hits my every last nerve. and also demonstrates once again the issue with the writers treating the show like it's serialized but writing it like it's episodic. chloe never learns anything and every time the episode is reset, she's just as bratty, mean, and racist as she was in the past. and yknow, it does get old after a while. like there's nothing wrong with having her character archetype in a show about teens in high school, but i do wish the writers would like. maybe at least show the kids watching that what she's doing is bad, at the very least. that her racism and bullying is only deserving of admonishment. or they're going to take away the wrong message.

the fact that she gets a miraculous for it? she's rewarded for her vile behavior? insane.

In no particular order:

Ok, so I liked the 3 from MXTX:

 - Grandmaster of Diabolic Cultivation/ Mo Dao Zu Shi 

This one I loved but it has a particular style that ppl might not like in that it feels jumpy, confusing and with information gaps while reading, even though eventually everything that matters does end up being explained...in other works this would probably be just lazy writing, but here it is clearly an intentional choice bc 1) she doesn’t do this in her other novels 2) this is in WWX’s pov and dude has heavy ptsd and adhd, plus he tends to pretend to take everything lightly as a coping mechanisms...all this put together and it’s easy to understand why the story has such an unreliable narrator that even the other characters constantly point it out. I ended up loving this extra layer of storytelling.

 - Heaven Official’s Blessings/ Tian Guan Ci Fu

If you’re in the mood for a saga type long ass novel with a ton of interesting side stories and side characters with a main character who is a true cinnamon bun in sweet romance with a side dish of sweet sweet aaaangst.

- Scum Villains Self Saving System

The most entertaining out of all of them. It manages to be a parody of two genres, both danmeis and wuia/jianghu harem het novels (fighter of destiny style) with OP leads, while also being its own cute and funny story with a heart to it.

From other authors:

 - Meatbun’s 2ha/ Dumb Husky and his White Cat Shizun 

What if someone took a look at the parody that is SVSSS and said...”no, you know what? This really deserves to be an epic, long ass, and I mean, topping old classics’ length novel packed with angst, filled with pain and topped with despair...and then we’re sprinkling some funfetti on top to fool y’all”...and you know what? that’s some good cake. (If you’re into cdramas SVSSS is to 2ha what The Romance of Tiger and Rose is to Goodbye My Princess).

- Priest’s Sha Po Lang:

Steampunk China plus creepy voodoo tribal ritual magic, involved in internal and external wars over petrol (with a different name) and with our leads in Iron Man suits, fighting, among other enemies hot young(er) hands on, on the field, western troop General, the Pope, that I can only visualize in my head as Jude Law. I tell you all of this nonsense just to say that instead of the ridiculous fun this should be, it ends up being a very compelling romance with lots of scheming and heavy plot and some heartbreaking scenes.

- The Golden Stage:

This is a court drama type novel with friends-to-rivals-to-lovers that is just the right length and compelling with not too many plot twists but two main characters who are really great both individually and together and this is the one out of all in the list I feel like re reading the most. It really is a solid read and I feel like I’m selling it short, bc it really is good. It is similar to Sha Po Lang and To Rule in a Turbulent World, a simpler version of those but not worse for it.

(Since you said top 5 and I’ve said 6, I regretfully cut down Heaven Official’s Blessing bc even though I love it, unlike MDZS or SVSSS, it didn’t feel like a standalone novel because some of the several storylines of the side characters that I loved were left open ended (although the main characters had a complete story arc), as if this book was supposed to be the first of a series and those characters would have their own spinoff books where I’d know where their story took them...except this really is a standalone, and so the lack of resolution bothers me).

- To Rule in a Turbulent World

This one doesn’t go in the top 5 list yet bc it’s not fully translated, last time I checked (tho it’s very near the end). As an ongoing novel, I adore it. If the ending isn’t terrible it might be in my top 3. It’s similar to the two above in plotlines but it has a quality to it that it takes care to make every character in it multidimensional. There are no good and bad characters, even the ones on the opposite side are given something that makes them relatable and human. Plus, the characters all change throughout the novel, most of all the protagonists and the novel gives itself breathing time between events where you just chill with the characters and learn about random things like agricultural practices. 

- The Wife Is First

This one is just that light fluff feel good one that is great to pick up from time to time since it’s on going. Dumb Jock husband did everything wrong in his first life, gets a re-do and from then on it’s adorable respect the spouse juice and awe of said spouse smarts. Cute. Also, there’s a baby pet tiger.

 -Faraway Wanderers and Lord Seventh/Qi Ye by Priest:

Qi Ye is similar to To Rule in A Turbulent World/The Golden Stage/Sha Po Lang. I really liked it still, just a tiny bit less than these. Since it’s the same author as SPL and I think it was written earlier, I have to say, the writing only got better.

Faraway Wanderers is a short read, but you’re only gonna like it if you’re ok with amoral main characters (I guess that is true for many on this list but it’s more obvious in this one bc the novel and the characters are unapologetic about it).

- YuWu by Meatbun - Still reading it, but is isn’t grabbing me like 2ha did.

 - Silent Readings by Priest:

I love crime fiction novels (love Ding Mo’s novels) and this is that type of conspiracy, murder novel with smart criminals and smart investigators. Little romance, but still there.

 - Guardian by Priest: 

Priest is hilarious and except the last part that gets a bit heavy on the lore this is just a joy to read. Also pretty short.

- Advance Bravely:

I read it a long time ago and it’s okayish, with some cute and some weird, problematic characters. 

- Addicted/ Heroin:

Also read it (this is 2 books) ages ago...and this one is NOT cute. It starts out as a pretty normal, but kind of toxic very typical oldschool drama/manga romance right down to the step brothers’ trope....and then it keeps escalating to new levels of WTF am I reading?!! All I have to say for this one is, that while I cannot recommend it per se, nor say it’s good, the title really is fitting, bc it is addictive as f.

Oh gosh I think I posted both some years back (But of course Tumblr cant find them as always) when I still could rmb their series and movies much more clearly as compared to now but I suppose I can try to rmb said movies whoop

1. Ginga S movie: 2.5/5

Tho small parts of the movie was pretty cringe (like the scenes where UPG faced their 'fears' iirc), but although the plotline was more action-focused as it was very obviously aimed at commemorating the end of the Heisei Era by having all the Heisei Ultras making cameos, the general plot itself was decent enough to incorporate said usually burdensome overarching goal such that it was pretty okayish as a whole (Which you’ll see later why it can be a HUGE burden) as it does provide a good enough explanation for their cameos (albeit the controversial Nexus)

Although it really intrigued me was Etalgar (also one of my favourite villain designs btw) as a character as we now know that the movie plotline shares some simarities with UGF3 with him knowing of the existence of Ultras and having an actually pretty sound plan of dealing with them. Not to mention it was also hinted from his birthplace that there were more beings like him which I hope TsuPro will explore that implication in the future.

Ginga Victory’s design: 3.5/5

True to its existence as a pure fusion, it really did encompass most of both Ginga and Victory’s elements. But obviously, Ginga’s traits were more prominent with only the zenshin crystals being translucent but not the Victorium Crystals. Especially the lack of said crystals on his head sculpt which wouldve made a much more BANGER design. So GV’s design was so close yet so far to really look like a pure fusion of the two.

2. X Movie: 3/5

Basically in the same vein as the Ginga S Movie, a decent action-focused plot that had a good executed commemorative goal of Tiga’s and Ultraman’s anniversaries, but it was better than the former as of course with less cameos, more time was able to be allocated into fleshing out the actual movie plot as well as the ‘in-universe’ lore of this version of Ultraman and Tiga (The implications of which I went in depth before but I wont go into it here) iirc my only gripe with the movie was that people cant shut up when the battle was going on

But in addition to that, I just recalled that this was the first time we were actually baited into the whole Desastro foreshadowing which we have yet to see or even know what had came of it, but that isnt a flaw thats intrinsic to the movie so I’ll give that a pass.

EXBSA’s design: 4/5

I believe I did also say this specifically in a previous most that I absolutely love these kind of bulky designs. But my only gripe with the armor and just X’s armor ‘forms’ in general is that they dont really cover his whole body. And man can you imagine if BSA actually covers his whole body? Dude would look like Diablo lmao

3. Orb Movie: 1.5/5

Oh boy I remembered that I probably ranted about this for the first like 2 years of starting this blog lmao

Gosh where do I even begin with this one. I guess in general, the movie is just so random and cringey.

The latter would actually just be the carrying over of the cringe cast from the series and their shenanigans which I still couldnt stand in the movie. Not to mention that I couldnt even take the aliens seriously at all (Just compare the Temperor in this movie to the one in the Superior 8 Brothers movie) as well as Mulnau which is frankly uninteresting and quite obnoxious ngl.

The former would include the scenes of iirc the Bullton scene as well as OT having to job to Deavorick to necessitate Seven’s appearance

Trash movie, and an even trashier movie form. Gosh I believe I ranted more about this than the movie LMAO.

I honestly expected to be absolutely blown away since back then when LA’s design was revealed, I already was by it. But wow when the leaks on OT’s design came. My heart literally sank.

What was expectedly a much, much edgier version of GV with LA’s AWESOME cybernetic armor platings turned out to basically Orb Origin wearing red gloves and shoulder pads with makeup

4. Geed Movie: 3.5/5

This movie had obviously alot more plot-building than the previous entries while retaining somewhat the same level of quality action, not to mention, courtesy of Orb/JJ and Zero’s cameo being more or less expected, it helps to more seamlessly appear in this movie.

But of course, the plot premise was, just like his series, had VERY CONVENIENT circumstances, such as the Giga Finalizer’s existence, Gukuru shisa’s appearance and for some reason, Gilvaris somehow escaping Taro etc

UF’s design: 2.5/5

Truth be told, I was both confused and kinda disapointed when his design was leaked in a catalog because iirc someone was able to datamine 2 more Geed fusions from the Geed Riser, one being “Ultimate Fusion Rise” and ngl i forgot the other so i expected a higher order fusion or sth, but of course we didnt get anything close to that. The confusion arises from the theme of his design which is very unexpected for his character’s theme as well as obviously as a counter to Gilvaris (courtesy of the Giga Finalizer), he adopted a “cyber” theme but ngl as the ‘son’ of Belial, I wouldve expected him to finally unlock his reionyx form (totally expected that form would essentially be Geed’s initial design, aka the one that looks like Atrocious) as a culmination of his genetic identity.

5. RB Movie: 2/5

Ok this movie felt random af

Everything was so out of place. The sudden theme of “dreams”? Toregia, a immensely powerful villain being part of all this seemingly inconsequential (to him) event, him basically reading a script to admire the RB siblings’ familial relationship before his “defeat” (Which makes even less sense in his subsequent appearances), Katsumi being teleported (and the convenient interdimensional travel back) instead of being being made into a monster like Snake Darkness or sth (which wouldve been consistent with Toregia’s character btw) It all just feels so artificial and it was very apparent that the movie was just trying to continue shoving down the idea of “family” in the most non-subtle and uncomfortable way as did the series as well as just introducing Toregia as a character, rather than its implications.

Grigio’s design: 1/5

Yeah, definitely hated how she looked due to the head shape, the lack of armor and black in her suit like her siblings had, just makes her look really plain af. And I didnt really like how ‘basic’ her brothers look either so that pushes the rating even lower lmao

Gruebe’s design: 1/5

Yes this was an absolute disappointment as honestly, the only thing they got right was his head sculpt, and Im not even talking about this whole shitty CGI sequence either, it looks just as shitty in live action

Lets first look at Ruebe, while honestly in the context of the series, it seemed odd of a duo fusion due to the gold in the color scheme which was frankly unnecessary but still, appreciated since there were quite abit of new design gimmicks implemented into it that werent event present in Rosso or Blu like the crystals on his arms

But Gruebe for some reason decided to hit the ‘go back’ button on this concept, several times over. Removing the gold, the additional gimmicks, having his head sculpt being the having the Grigio component and back to the alreadyb boring Rosso/Blu color scheme

I expected it to incorporate the siblings’ armor across more of his body while a more colorful palette or red, blue and orange but nah, we got a decent head sculpt, blue shoulder pads and a ‘naked’-looking suit. Its just still so confusing of why did they took a step back from Ruebe’s quality despite being a higher order fusion.

6. Taiga Movie: 4/5

I really would like to mention again of just how much i LOVE many Ultras/Hosts interacting with each other (maybe that why I prefer UGF lol) While obviously, due to the number of ultras featured, not alot of such interactions was able to be showcased, those despite the movie still didnt wrap what was Taiga’s whole plot premise all along of him stepping out of Taro’s shadow and resolving the ideological battle with Toregia, plus Grigio’s random appearance, I still really enjoyed the dialogues between the Ultras so much that I could overlook all of that.

(I mean it helps that I had basically given up hope on Taiga addressing the first two main plot points in his series alr so...)

Reiga’s design:

As a fusion: 0.4/5

I was actually not certain on what single rating I should give here. On one hand, if you look at his design by itself, it just looks like a much cooler version of Taiga. While on the other, if u consider that this form is supposed to mean, that either being the fusion of 11 Ultras or of 6 Ultras (movie forms + TS), it is absolutely disappointing, just look at all the bad points I pointed out for every movie form previously and Reiga just takes them all plus even more.

Like where’s Ginga and Victory’s crystals? X’s Armor? Orb’s forehead light? RBG’s head head sculpts? Just so many features that could’ve been implemented but they all just aren’t even there. I thought having more components would make the end result much more jaw-dropping since you would have more features to play around and mix and match with. But apparently no, rosso and blu’s contribution are reduced to just mere ‘stains’ on his head sculpt, and basically everyone else’s designs are aggregated into everything else, with none of their defining features. In this sense, this is worst than OT.

So yeah might as well give two seperate ratings

ok i got the aesvic out of my system now time to pick apart the letter n why i wont really be following aesops diary exactly here. literally no one asked but i wanted to get my thoughts down somewhere cos i have. a lot

just gonna put a quick rundown of aesops diary entry as a refresher (mostly for myself so i dont miss anything): he dreamt that he was helping jerry with what was probably a murder n was affirmed n he thinks its a sign congratulating him on carrying out his duty. over the years, he carries out his duties as an undertaker n comes to the manor looking for a “fresh start” aka what sounds like his first victim. according to aesop, said victim should be quiet, n potential victim number 1 is victor. something about badly needing him to become his “silent friend” n he mentions he’ll get to wick n the 2 other survivors in due time, but for now he’s very eager to start his “mission”.

im generally okay with the letter (i have seen so many fights over this aha) cos there is no surprise he wants to kill ppl (ppl who r fighting over this point. did u even read his deductions?? guy happily killed his mentor??). but i didnt quite like the fact that he still looks up to jerry (although. i guess thats valid i just. dont like it). i was also initially kind of confused about the real reason why he would want to kill ppl since as u progress through the letter it sounds less like he kills for duty (cos of the whole dream thing at the start) but more “because i want to :)”, which is an okayish edgy kinda take imo. like not that u cant characterize aesop as Kill Kill Murder Die, but i kinda find that. pretty boring in the long term.

im just gonna put what my original take on aesop was, like all of it. first off, he hates jerry. u cannot tell me a psychotic serial killer like that can raise a child without emotional trauma. like any child, this isnt even counting the extra damage done because hes autistic. (n i also hc that aesop has read his moms letter to him at some point, n he should have come to the conclusion that it was somewhat also jerrys fault, whether through logic or denial that his mom would want to leave him, so that just adds to it.) but as much as he hates him, his teachings are the only ones hes been exposed to, n its been so ingrained in him since young so even if he hates jerry he would still subscribe to whatever twisted ideology jerry was feeding him, which ill get to in a sec.

going through his accessories, he has that origami that he folds for each of his clients, n it shows that underneath it all, aesop is still kind. this isnt expected of him n its definitely not part of his job scope as an embalmer. he (still?) has the heart to wish the best for those that have departed n takes the time n effort to fold one for each n every client he sends off, which is probably a lot. so going off on that, my hc is that jerry, being the manipulative asshole that he is (who probably definitely manipulated his mom into indirect suicide) probably used his kindness against him to make him believe that by murdering ppl he is helping them, framing all of his serial kills as a sort of mercy kill (like his mom). so the thing that aesop takes away from all this is the very twisted logic that by killing ppl he is helping them, therefore being a good embalmer and a good person in general. n everyone wants to be a sort of good person, or at least for aesop that is part of his job description to be a good embalmer. n we all know aesop is very serious about his job.

i also hc that he has killed several ppl between killing jerry n coming to the manor, cos i follow the story that he took the invitation from that poor lady n thats how he ended up at the manor. surely the lady didnt come to him right after jerry died?? but anyway, the way i see it is that he thought he liked to kill. like he finally truly understood why jerry kills so much (which is interesting now that i think about it. guy really just went along with all those murders without truly believing huh), because it felt good to kill. at least thats what he thought, the revelation that killing felt good n is good, but i say its because he hated jerry, n offing someone u kinda hate should probably feel pretty gucci. n its also so much easier to pick clients off the streets than in the manor, so i would think that he has killed ppl like his mentor did, but each time he did the great feeling that came with ending ppls life just. wasnt as good as the first time round. it just became a sort of normal satisfaction of a successful embalming.

this can go two ways: 1. he keeps on killing to try to find that great feeling again, which is cool i guess (n probably what canon would want, except canon states that he hasnt killed since jerry), but id like to go with 2. he just stops because jerry isnt around to enforce it whenever he isnt feeling up to psychoing someone to their death (which is probably how jerry got his victims, n damn if that doesnt take a lot of mind games that i dont think aesop has the mental capacity for since half of it is fighting with his social anxiety n other issues. dealing with alive strangers?? no thanks?? i doubt he would have learnt properly how to lure in clients as efficiently as jerry because of this, mostly cos he was only needed for the murder afterparty aka embalming n funerals). n as much as he stays professional, there is no. professional way of gaslighting someone to their death.

(n also since ppl have pointed out that his twitter replies n other kinda informal stuff have shown that aesop does have reverent respect for life, which also adds to him not being so blindly bloodthirsty as implied in the letter. i dont really see the twitter replies as very canon, but it does make sense that he would come to revere life with his unique take and obsession over death, for one cannot exist without the other)

so this leads me to the motive that aesop brings to the manor, at least how i see it. he isnt exactly coming to the manor to kill per se (like from the very early story, he came to the manor to return the letter to a relative of the deceased lady, something about respecting her last wishes. something like that, its really been a while since i saw that exerpt), so like killing ppl isnt his main purpose of visit. its more of hes always on the lookout for weaker (or at least those that take less mind games to kill) people to mercy kill, n it just so happens that he knows the manor n his mentor almost died from there, so theres a pretty good chance he can find some ppl that fall into this category n so it just so happens that he also has a job to do there. its still counted as a Job for him since no ones gonna tell him that embalmers dont actually. murder. 

so in my version, aesop only tries to sway ppl that he knows he can convince, n these ppl would typically be those very sickly ones like his mom (andrew im looking at u) or those with an actual death wish/ very weak will to live. but here aesop is choosing his “first victim”, and the criteria for that is... quiet? never mind “not evading him” and “not cranky” being on the list too, but that isnt quite what i was expecting from someone so dedicated to their duty of murder. sure he wants an easy first kill, but like. i dont think its consistent if his motive was really to continue jerrys bastard legacy. especially when the next paragraph is essentially him gushing over victor, that... sort of implies something else. or at least in the way i see it, since i believe that canon wants us to think that aesop just really loves to kill.

aesop likes victor. very much so. so much till he wants to kill him. which i guess makes sense cos he likes death, n now he likes victor. so he just. puts the two things he likes together. whats better than victor? dead victor. anyway the rest of the letter is more like “whatever, i technically should kill the others too but my priority is victor” so like. he confuses his (dare i say) yandere tendencies with his duty since the end goal for both is a body in a coffin.

having said that. i know i have aesvic brainrot but i also know this is one sided as hell (at least from the letter alone, not counting the letter shaped cookies in his birthday art that apparently belonged to victors birthday cake aha) n lowkey alarming since. the goal is to kill victor. i kinda want to interpret it as him genuinely wanting to be friends with victor (really wanting him to be a “silent friend”, maybe cos he doesnt actually know how to be friends with living ppl n is better with dead ones? therefore victor should be dead to be friends?) but not knowing how to n throwing in his obsession with death ends up with. this minor disaster waiting to happen. but i uh. dont know if this is valid. its valid to me at least, with my original interpretation of aesop. n again cos of his ingrained professionalism, he also kinda sees this as part of his job to send ppl off, so its another plus. not for victor, tho.

idk if ill add this yandere side in my aesop. i mean my boi has technically tried to kill victor multiple times in the past HAHAHAHA. maybe like sometimes he can be a bit obsessive. as a treat. but generally nah cos thats definitely gonna end up in a murder somewhere somehow n i cant. just kill victors here on the ask blog scene lashjflkjhdlfkjhas

so yeah that kinda takes care of the last part of the letter, as for the first part. as much as aesop hates jerry, i would also think hes pretty starved for affirmation (like i said jerry isnt going to be a good parent figure ever) n i guess it makes sense if the only times jerry has ever complimented him was aiding him in his kills n hiding the evidence, which might (?) add to his desire to kill (but that probably dies with jerry aha). so the way i see it as aesop is getting affirmation n takes it as a good sign instead of. remotely liking jerry. idk if im stretching it a little but i really dont like the take where hes okay with jerry. anyway we are ignoring that he hasnt killed before entering the manor cos that doesnt quite make sense to me (i wasnt dreaming about the letter from a lady stabbed in the face 36 times or so right???? right???????)

im also not like. trying to defend him, im just trying to make sense of his diary. boi has issues n is a little too far gone (not as far as canon tho), in my take very deluded in his way of showing kindness. literally cool motive still murder (or in canon, just murder?), please get therapy. but i just dont really like the direction that the letter was originally trying to imply, with him really just hell bent on murder without like. a clear motive (at least to me it isnt very clear since the last part really doesnt sound consistent with his supposed intentions). i mean i love being edgy with aesop every now n then but i dont think it would make for meaningful characterizations in the long run so. ill still be sticking with my original take on aesop with maybe a bit of yandere for victor cos thats always fun

changing one event? the first think that comes to my mind is jiang cheng losing his core, that's basically the scene that set everything into motion right? wwx giving his core to jc, him getting thrown into the burial mounds, the misunderstandings, the demonic cultivation, the conflicts, etc. so, by fixing this event, by making jiang cheng not lose his core, we have the situation of wwx being out and the wen patrols coming through. which.... he can escape? i think he would've been able to throw them off and lead them away from jc, though he would definitely get hurt. they can still find the wen siblings, wei wuxian can still become close with them (which he definitely would) and most importantly, there would be no core transfer. which !!! means a lot less suffering for all parties involved. the sunshot campaign would obviously still happen, is happening at that moment, but i think wei wuxian's reputation would be way better? there's the chance that they would lose, which is honestly like a 50/50 chance, but i'd like to think that they would win. then with the wen remnants? wwx probably would have a better reputation, jiang cheng would be able to take them in and lwj would also support him (bcs they would probably talk during the war and he'd be a bit more vocal about his feelings to wwx), no demonic cultivation means also no burial mounds!! anyways, i'd probably change that scene, even if it could theoretically end for the worse, there would be a lot of things that could improve the events and wellbeing of characters.

that's a hard question? a place i want to visit? i used to have a list about places and things i want to see, nowadays i'm not so sure. there are a couple of castles in germany that i'd like to visit, it's always fun to visit castles!! i'd like to visit.... wow, i really don't know!! i can't think of another country but i'd like to visit my dad's hometown, Dresden, i've never been there before and he is there at least every two years because of his job. so yeah, Dresden probably!

Thoughts on Major Blast

Another day, another new episode, another Fred-In-Danger episode. This week, a villain called Major Blast comes into the surface and targets Fred. Will BH6 save Fred from them and reveal who's behind it? Let's Blast on!

Cold opening; It is another save from BH6, this time they (Hiro, Baymax, and Fred) are saving Bluff Dunder from Helicopter malfunction. But when Fred suggest to celebrate with Noodle Burger victory treat, a stranger flies to Fred, and starts blasting flame towards him. He tries to avoid it, but no work. Getting cornered, this stranger prepares to diminish Fred "You aren't a worthy opponent yet" (let's remember this quote because it will be handy), until Hiro and Baymax reach out Fred and save him from this stranger. This stranger flees away, but not before demanding Fred to have another fight, this time, he will be alone, and Hiro and Fred wonder who were they.

BH6 figures out that the stranger is "Major Blast", they used to be Boss Awesome's villain, and they are now targeting Fred. Hiro orders Fred to train with Gogo while the rest to figure out who's behind Major Blast. Hiro then shows other the new feature of the lair, Sim-Max, a simulation room so Fred can practice.

Tbf, this feature is really cool, they have ultra realistic hologram with backgrounds and villains, so they can practice and learn how to beat villains as accurate as in real life. Look How far BH6 has become. (Except the part that once you failed the simulation, Roddy will mock you straight away on his hologram version)

Gogo finds the problem that Fred is really easy to be distracted, and she demands him to stay focus, but Fred keeps it going, even daydreaming about how their practice would be (Rocky's aesthetic sounds fun). They finally start the simulation, with Momakase, but ofc Fred gets distracted again, and he fails the simulation test. "Distraction bad. Focus good" that's what she said.

I wish their interaction between Gogo and Fred could be more, since, I find the interaction between Fred and Gogo interesting, since they are opposite to each other, Fred likes to get distracted and chilling, and fun stuffs, with his witty and quirky, while gogo is no Bs person, likes to focus, always get serious when troubles come, and upset when someone ruining the mood of her. I also remembered about Jamie Chung's interview for the movie back then, that Gogo had a secret crush on Fred, which is... Interesting, and the series portray about their interaction more, and seems like they have a good chemistry for each other... I admit I ship them tho but yeah, I wish they have more interaction like this, but somehow they cut it pretty short and we have to see Fred practices alone

Meanwhile, the rests find the further informations about Major Blast. Baymax (and Basemax) however, ruin the focus by 'competing' to give the infos about Major Blast. Who would have known that Robots literally competing each other about something.

First practice is done, and they about to go home, until Major Blast interrupts Fred's path and attacks Fred, Fred tries to resist, with Gogo help, but he is still failed, and Major Blast says the same words before they flee away, again.

Fred becomes paranoid, and starts to doubt if he is good enough to be a superhero. 'Alfred' tries to cheer him up, but warn him to be focus about it.

Now to think about it, after what The butler said, and the quote "You aren't a worthy opponent", the person behind Major Blast is coned into the the person who is close to Fred and instead of someone who has a vengeance against Boss Awesome or Fred, they want to teach Fred a lesson. Now that the butler said that, it could be really him, or it could be boss Awesome's robot practice, or Richardson.

Fred practices again, now with mini-Max, but out of nowhere, Major Blast comes again, and interrupt his practice. Fred gets defeated again, but..... His butler saves him, using Fred original BH6 costume, to drag him out from Major Blast. Major Blast flees away again, and says the same quote again (yep).. Fred becomes more terrified.

Also forgot to mention that Boss Awesome, or Mr. Frederickson appears again as cameo, I can tell that he now has new va, I think. His sounds is similar to Stan Lee, so he is as if Stan Lee is alive, but I'll check the credit to see the new va

Fred determines to defeat them for good, but his distraction(s) takes the toll out of him, and he is defeated (again) by simulated Mr. Sparkles (yeah......). Roddy Blair comes in and he notices Fred. Fred asks to Blair how Boss Awesome comes to defeat Major Blast and how Major Blast's weaknesses are, Blair says that While Major Blast don't have weakness, Boss Awesome used his own weakness to defeat Major Blast. Fred then has the idea to use his distraction to defeat Major Blast.... Which is not what Blair meant, but we'll, he keeps going up with his idea, and.... Well, he tried

Blair also mentions to the rests (since the rests of the crew still couldn't figure it out who's behind Major Blast) that there was a secret compartment on Boss Awesome's lair, and Hiro and the gangs (except Gogo and Fred) visit his lair once again, and plan to use Baymax's vision to scan the secret compartment, but, they notice that Baymax is still on the lair, discussing with Basemax about the protocol of who's speaking first and stuff.

As Fred practicing and failing, Major Blast comes and interrupts his another practice. (Huh, they can be a party pooper irl ofc) Gogo sees this and tries to help Fred, but Major Blast manages to lock her out from the Sim-Max, and now Fred fights alone, against Major Blast. In the other side, The rests of BH6 figure out who Major Blast is.

Fred, now, fighting alone, tries to use his weakness to defeat Major Blast, including using his ultra lighting feature to blind Major Blast, but ofc, with their advance tech, they manage to resist and Fred gets cornered again, Major Blast says something as they prepare to blast him, but Fred distract him to mention their forehead, and he escapes. Major Blast tries to attack Fred, and they gets it, well, Sim-Fred, and the real Fred manages to climb to their back and cut the pipewire, which creates malfunction of their suit. Finally Major Blast is defeated, Fred the winner, and everyone is happy.

Fred admit that he uses Gogo and Blair advice to defeat Major Blast, which is not what they meant. Fred finally reveals who's behind Major Blast, and it is......

Fred's mom (surprising, right, eh?)

Everyone's confused about the 'plot twist' and Fred's mom owes to tell: she was afraid about Boss Awesome's safety, and she wanted to keep Boss Awesome awesome, so she created her undefeatable 'villain' persona, Major Blast. When she was defeated, she revealed herself to Boss Awesome, and she then, retired, well until now. The reason of why she relive her alter ego again is because she wants Fred about superhero thingy, especially since the situation becomes uncertain, and the villains are getting stronger, to Hiro notice that she knew about BH6's identity all along. Well that's a plot twist I could t honestly expect, and looks like none of our theory about Major Blast were right

Well looks like superhero thingy runs thought their family, Mr. Frederickson is Boss Awesome, Mrs. Frederickson helped Boss Awesome kept his awesomeness, by becoming a 'villain', and Fred is part of BH6. Kick-Ass Family, amirite?

Fred is really happy about that, and Gogo mentions the weird parenting over there. At the end of the day, Fred is happy that he has a kick-assing mom, while Mr. Frederickson watching by far from his another vacation.

Conclusion:

It's.... A weird episode. It's not bad, it's okayish, but it's definitely weird. The plot is somewhat confusing tho, and the interaction about gogo and Fred kinda too short, I wish there was more. Kudos tho for the plot twist, since no one saw this coming (well because no one saw this coming and we don't have picture of what was going to happen), and more Fred centered episode. I wish we get to see the rests centered episode tho, to develope other characters. Overall, an okay episode, and I can't wait to speed up the momentum with the supersonic family.

I think there are still people playing this game even if it’s quite old since Otomate keeps porting it to different platforms (PSVita and Nintendo Switch). I got myself the PSP version.

Story

Our protagonist, Haru, comes from a poor background and starts working as a maid at the Miyanomori mansion to support her family. She meets the six Miyanomori brothers – each born from a different mother.

It does sound pretty fun at first for Haru who used to work at a factory. However, she quickly understands that it is not going to be an easy task - especially with those brothers who treat her like garbage.

A short while after she starts working, the head of the family, Genichirou, announces that he’s going to retire and therefore needs to chose the next head. He challenges all his sons to entertain him and collect points: the first one to reach ten points will be chosen...

About the heroine

Her personality was pretty common : she’s a clumsy airhead, and an idiot (to be very blunt) One might think that this is the ultimate combo to make a character annoying. Nonetheless, I found her very cute. Her design also meets my taste (I love braids hehe). I love characters who try their best no matter how hard they are struggling. Moreover, her personality was a great contrast with most LIs’, and allowed funny and adorable dynamics.

Miyanomori Tadashi : (34) Serious megane dude x ore-sama x oldest son

(CV : Miyauchi Atsushi)

He lives to work and works because he likes working (this man HAS NO LIFE).

I’m usually not into those guys who look stuck up because I want spicy development. However, he was unexpectdly awkward, which resulted in hilarious relashionship development with Haru, especially in the good ending (I swear I cracked on my bed like a psycho).

He was kinda harsh with Haru at first and didn’t trust her at all but he gradually opens up and listens to her troubles as a maid.

His route dealt with themes such a friendship and social status. It didn’t reveal anything about the Miyanomori family...

Heyyy it’s the first tsundere!! His relationship unfolds almost the same as Tadashi : tough at first, sweet by the end. 

It was hilarious how his personality did a 180 : from  tsundere to absolute idiot sweetheart. However, I have to say that I was sometimes bothered by what he was saying as it was borderline manipulative when he wanted to sound sweet... HMM...

Except that, his route was well balanced.

I’ll go straight to the point : I don’t like him  (；⌣̀_⌣́)

This might be a bit spoilery but I found him very childish even though he is 26. His relationship with his dad is terrible but that doesn’t justifiy how annoying he is. He also had a lot of “what is this feeling?” trope during his route, and I felt like it wasn’t handled the way I like it. The two previous bros also took quite a long time before noticing how they felt about Haru but at least they were cute trying to figure out...

Susumu : (22) good boy x dense x angst

I liked him since the beginning because he is the only guy who has always treated Haru like a humain being, unlikes his brothers!!

I thought he would be a good boy whose route wouldbe fluffy and tame... I’ve got it all wrong. He is not that kind... He’s willing to make huge sacrifices for the sake of his beliefs.

I think he has quite a weird relationship with his friend, but no complaints since all the drama was necessary for Susumu to realize his own feelings.

Hiroshi : (18) childish x creative x growth

He’s that cute and happy guy in otome games who likes playing pranks on others...

He’s only 18 and yet, I feel like he has grown so much in his route (unlike SHIGERU). He was very pure and assertive. I was glad that there was finally a guy open about his feelings. His childish side didn’t bother me at all since it was to be expected from the previous routes.

I loved how the ending and his decisions showed that he had grown to be a fine man. His character development was the best imo.

That glow up five years later tho...

Masashi : tsundere #2 x sharp tongue x clever

What a brat. What a smart brat. I have mixed feelings about this character. I like and hate him at the same time XD stop insulting me

Although he keeps calling Haru an ‘idiot’ (because he’s such a tsundere), he grows fond of her  (´･ᴗ･ ` ) He knows nothing about love, and because of some minor *incident* he thought that he had to take responsibility and marry the heroine lmao

Anyway, the latter half of his route is drama with his father (actually, everybody got drama because of Genichirou, that prick) that he handled pretty well despite the fact that he’s the youngest. Playing him last before the secret character makes a lot of sense, as it completely exposes the character’s identity and objectives).

Tsundere rating : 5/5 (I’ll give him a Tsundere Award)

Is the character dense ? yes / HE IS DARN SHARP??? (I was impressed during that one scene where he carefully used his brain to understand what was going on, unlike his older bros)

I can only say I liked the secret character, even though I would have liked to see less angst... That will probably come in the fandisc...

I kinda regret not getting the Vita port for high res CGs *cries* Since I started playing on PSP, I’ll probably buy the other games on PSP.   ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Anyway, I can positively recommend this game to anybody. I think it has everything: plot, fleshed-out characters, funny moments, action, mystery, angst… and romance of course. I was pleasantly surprised by the dynamic between the brothers since I thought they would be at each other’s throat to become the heir. Turns out I was wrong (phew!) and it is actually the complete opposite. Their bickering was truly heart-warming ~

-So Rachel is definitely a neutral side here

-the kids know her as Rachel but Lo, Dee, and Pat still know her as Russe

l-Now Rachel is really close to Virge (tho of course she knows him as Anx

)-She's figured out about when Virge comes over to their side after hanging out with Dee and Remus and is normally in the living room to meet with him

-She's probably between 10-12(probably should have put this earlier but oh well)

-Logan notices her and calls her over

-He doesn't want her to get in between the fight between Patton and Anx

-But unlike Logan, when Rachel hears the click, she looks up in confusion

-She didn't see anything that happened, all she saw was the blank wall

-Patton was smiling that smile, the one Rachel had realized by now was so so fake, and she started to piece the pieces together

-After all, she knew she saw Anx come in, but now he wasn't here and the door was gone

-Patton told her to go get Roman so he could talk to the both of them in that fake, fake voice of his

-Rachel listened, rushing out of the room to get Roman

-Roman immediately accepts the explanation tho he doesn't believe Anx and his brother are evil but Rachel knows Pat is lying

-I named a guy Finn but spelt it with one n

-for some reason everyone has greasy hair

-I found one very good sentence “usually the road to becoming an Assassin starts with heartache and loss, accompanied by an overbearing want for revenge.”

-everyone has a tattoo that defines their personality

-I emphasised that my main character is left handed but for some reason shes shooting a bow and arrow as if she’s right handed

-I wrote that my character was sitting next to a smoking woman instead of a woman smoking a cigarette

-I want to give 18 yo me some credit for the part where my character was shot, that was okayish

-again with the greasy hair

-for some reason my characters are at kfc

-then they watched how to train your dragon

-now my characters are going to Sydney to assassinate the Russian president and start a world war

-she showers so much wtf

-someone just kissed her even tho he has a gf and there’s a war going on?

-she just did groceries while there is a war going on as if people would still be going to work
