First Felon is a performative piece of shit.
The epitome of stolen valor.
A disgrace to all active military and veterans. Wants to destroy the careers of highly decorated generals.

Is it on your radar at all - the triple crown for Ja'Marr? And how close he is?
No, I know he's first in just about everything right now, so he's probably on pace to do whatever the triple crown is. What does that - what does that mean?
Most receiving yards, catches, and touchdowns.
I know he's got a lot of touchdowns, and a lot of yards, and a lot of catches too...so he's probably on pace to do it.

If I hear one more white man criticize the halftime show without even thinking for a second to maybe think about the context and the purpose of the performance I’m going to explode

That post about the efficacy of the needle drops in Impossible Birds has me really wanting to call out the choice of "Run From Me" by Timber Timbre in Red Flags. I want to say it's my favorite needle drop in the whole show (SUCH an impossible thing to rank!!!), but it certainly highlights my favorite dramatic moments in the entire show.
Tumblr media
To me it really shows how skilled they are at packing the most emotional punch in the shortest amount of time possible. It so efficiently sweeps you through Ed's descent, and watching him come to a decision. It opens the episode, and starts playing with Stede's deep sigh (GOD I love that shot so much - Rhys you gave us everything with that sigh). Then immediately going from Stede's face to the Stede-like wedding topper. Lingering shots of Ed on the floor. He is FEELING it. But that's also where you can see him making his choice, and it's appropriately chilling... seeing him go from sobbing on the floor, to just blank and empty as he pushes the figurines out of the window. That's the dramatic shifting point of the first three-episode arc. We get to go through it with him and sit in the feeling. I love that one minute of show so much, I look forward to it every rewatch cycle.
But that's not the last we hear of the song, because they use it to bookend the episode. It comes back at the end and its emotional crescendo takes us right through the deepest parts of Ed's despair. The song says "run, run, run" over and over as we see Ed fully running towards ending his life, on deck in that storm.
Tumblr media
It's such a good song! It starts slow and sad and lower energy, and ends by building with a backing chorus and driving instrumental that is determined and energetic, and ends with percussive staccato that really nails the (supposed) finality of the emotional journey of the episode - as the chaos of the storm builds and we end seeing Ed smile and say "Finally."
I can't separate my love for Red Flags as an episode from my love for "Run From Me" as a song choice... god they are SO SO GOOD at this

the thing i'm learning about being a sports fan is just.... you really have no control over this thing that you love so much and you've invested so much time/energy/emotion in! and that is so hard to accept! you can do all your little good luck rituals, you can critique the players and the coaching and the scheme to hell and back, you can learn as much as you can about how the game works....but it doesn't change a thing. all you can do is sit there and watch the players do the best they can! (and even then there's only so much each individual player can control!)
you just have to practice radical acceptance i guess! what's gonna happen will happen and you just have to sit back and enjoy as much of it as you can 🫠🫠
