2920 vol. I-III reports
-
Vol. I - Morning Star
The first book describes a collection of moments that occurred throughout the month of Morning Star. The majority of these moments depict political plans being made in the ongoing war, with some conversations relating to personal affairs and relations of these political figures. The year begins with Vivec and Almalexia discussing the ongoing war and her prophetic dream of its ending, with the realization that they need Sotha Sil if they are to win the war. In her cell, the Empress Tavia and her bodyguard are also plotting to achieve a similar goal, the death of the imperial emperor.
The emperor himself attends a celebration of South Winds prayer, and while there he discusses tactics with the Akavari Potentate Versidue-Shaie while watching a sporting battle. Finally, the mistress of a duke in Mournhold contemplates how he will receive the news of her pregnancy, revealing a glimpse of the personal lives of some of the political figures involved in the war.
Comments
While I feel like I鈥檓 missing a lot of context for these snippets of their lives, I am sort of getting the picture of everyone鈥檚 thoughts and plans for the war they are in.
I do appreciate that it鈥檚 not like a history book, a lot of it is just conversations between characters, and a few of the ongoing plot lines are interesting to me, like the Duke and Turala, Empresses Tavia and her bodyguard, and the completion of the Akavari and Cyrodill warriors.
Go off Empress Tavia I hope that ends up working
I definitely get the same bad vibes about the akavari guy that the emperor does, the guy literally talks like scar from the lion king.
Something tells me that things are about to go very badly for Turala. Getting more bad vibes.

Vol. II - Sun鈥檚 Dawn
Over the course of Sun's Dawn, the summary recounts six distinct events that took place on six different days, each highlighting the perspectives and deeds of various notable figures. These figures include Sotha Sil, the Emperor and his mistress Rijja, the pregnant former mistress of a Duke from the house Indoral, Queen Hasaama and her husband King Dro'Zel. The book concludes with the arrival of Molag Bal, the Daedric Prince of Domination.
Comments
The author is very descriptive, I can clearly picture the serene tree by the bay where Soltha Sil teaches the new initiates, the respect he commands of his students is described just by his mannerisms. And then he told his students it was a ball of vomit. Which is kinda funny. Why are teachers like this, its giving college professor who messes with their students daily.
4 Suns Dawn threw me off bc that is a really long conversation to have mid foreplay like damn. What is going on why are you discussing politics right now?聽
I feel really sad for Turala, clearly she misjudged the duke and misplaced her trust in him. I'm rooting for her.
King Dro'Zel is relatable i also get mad when sad stories make me feel emotions, tho it seems like he might be taking it a little far.
God dammit. What are u doing here moldy balls.
Welcome back my girl Almalexia

Vol. III - First Seed
During the five documented days of First Seed, a battle was fought between Vivec's forces and the Imperial Legion. Prior to the battle, Vivec's spy within the Legion provided crucial information, allowing Vivec to set a successful trap for the Imperials. Meanwhile, Emperor Reman III and Akavir Potentate Versidue-Shaie planned their strategy, with the Emperor deciding not to lead his men into battle. As a result of Vivec's trap, the Imperials suffered a crushing defeat, with half of their forces trapped and unable to fight, and the other half swept away into a wall of spears. In a letter to her sister, Rijja writes that her lover, the Emperor, is hunting for the spy within the Legion, and is so desperate to find the spy he suspects her.
Comments
We seem not that concerned that the emperor's son got poisoned. Also, what is an emperor without a little racism? Also, I do not trust Versidue Shaie. And I forgot this is technically a history book about the end of an 80-year-long war and I was like damn this is heavy lmao.聽
Good for Cassyr Whitley聽
Why is Vivec applying toddler nap logic to his soldiers? Like I get that you didnt want them to party but you could have just told them not to party you are the boss
Holy shit the imperial army just got fuckkkkeddd Vivec was good at this. Like in all seriousness hes clearly a better tactician than Miramor and that of the emperor.聽
Not Rijja telling her sister her lover thinks she's a Morrowind spy and her life there is miserable at the moment and her sister still being jealous.
Also a big thank you to Liber Somnia for his audiobooks on youtube of this series, total life saver!

Then all those years of building - were they worth anything? Yes - they're just hoping you don't realize it.
Rebecca Sugar going in for the kill with some sketches out of absolutely nowhere. Here's my best attempt at getting an okay-ish image out of a blurry vertical phone recording of a screen. Original video was posted on the official rebeccasugar account on TikTok - a big thank you to @jeejyboard for bringing it to my attention.

As hilarious as it is to read about WWX initially being unable to perceive his own attraction to Lwj as anything other than the typical reactions of a woman, I wish more people would realise that it was not due to obliviousness, but rather because of compulsory heterosexuality and him simply not being aware such things existed. The time period he grew up in speaks for itself, as well as his unsafe (because the Jiang household was anything but secure) environment.
It was funny when it was treated as a crack idea, but it's frustrating when it's treated as a canon trait of his, when it's not. This guy is highly intelligent, both emotionally and intellectually, and the conclusions he came to regarding his own feelings as well as Lwj's were based on the information he had at the time. I see people point it out most in that scene at the start of the novel where Lwj gets drunk and points to WWX saying 'Mine."
But I can't believe how obtuse those same people are when they don't realise that while it's obvious to the reader (because duh they're reading a danmei novel about romance between the two main leads, and they let themselves be blinded by their own perceptions) that he's referring to WWX, to him it's not. Because what was he supposed to think? When all Lwj had ever been towards him was tolerant at best, and outright hostile at worst, and with his previous cold behaviour, was WWX really supposed to think, oh he must mean for me to be his! Because that would have made no sense at that part of the story. It was only logical for him to try to find a rational explanation, and the only one WWX could come to was that LWJ was referring to his sword, because obviously WWX wasn't going to take him seriously even if he had confessed, he would have only thought that he was drunk rambling or something. He didn't have any reason to believe him at that point.
It's not until the rest of the events of his second life progress and give WWX many opportunities and chances to reflect on his own feelings and Lwj's (changed and more affectionate) behaviour, does he start to think, could it be that I like him? Because WWX is no idiot; he realises his own feelings for Lwj pretty early on. And he catches onto Lwj's love for him too! Which is what the whole getting drunk at the inn thing before Guanyin Temple was about; he was scared to find out whether or not Lwj's love for him was platonic or not. (Which is a valid thing literally every person who has ever had a crush can relate to; worrying over whether the person of your affections feels the same or not. And it's difficult enough navigating these things in heterosexual relationships, let alone same-sex ones)
I think the way MXTX wrote WWX's journey of discovering his sexuality as well as his budding love for Lwj is beautiful and deserves more praise and recognition, rather than just glossed over as tee hee 'obliviousness'.

The Locked Tomb has amazing character interactions but I wanted more of the characters to talk with Mercymorn. She is a lyctor, she is a little bit mad, she is the best flesh magician they could ask for, she holds a number of grudges against god, she has more audacity than a canadian goose. If she joined the gang for the next book she would've stolen the show a few times.
Imagine if she helped Pyrrha and Cam raise Nona, it would've been hilarious. She would take Nona to school and the kids would ask Nona what that woman's deal is and Nona wouldn't know either because Mercy really is just like that. She would never remember anybody's age, like ever.
For a job she probably does black market operations, but if she came across someone suffering she would pull a good samaritan move not because she wanted to help, but because the situation annoyed her.
A random guy would try to say something inapropriate to Nona and before Camilla could react Mercymorn is casting Testicular Torsion on him like it's a DnD spell. Picking direct fights would not be her style anyway, thing would just happen: you can't blame her for a sprained ankle or a coughing fit, she did nothing! She would call you stupid if you stated otherwise.

I will say, if the gods became mortal at multiple points during a crisis without any intervention to achieve various goals and canonically even enjoyed it, it does kind of raise the question of "and this didn't come up as an option within the story of C3 until the very last minute and wasn't something the gods themselves proposed because...?"

i would like to inquire about the lore of your death the farmer
I had some backstory in mind while I was staring at the character creation screen but absolutely none that matters because "Death becomes a farmer in a small town" is a concept that can stand on its own, I think.
He's Death. A very stereotypical Grim Reaper. He talks to people and helps them because that's what Death is supposed to do. He likes bone themed items and halloween decor. He's a little too enthusiastic about requests asking him to fish or kill creatures. He put fruit bats in his cave because the concept of mushroom creeps him out.
The farm was Grandpa's. Maybe Death was given it, maybe he just moved in. Not like it matters anymore, and no one can stop him anyways. He's Here and they just gotta Deal With It.
The scale of the story is limited to what's mentioned in-game, though. So don't even worry about the global or cosmic ramifications of Death becoming a farmer. It's not gonna come up C:
