I’m thinking about their awful childhoods again sorry. Like not even the really terrible stuff like how they have to stretch like 9$ for a week bc John’s in the wind I’m thinking about how they couldn’t ever have real friends outside of each other bc they were never anywhere long enough to make real connections. Like imagine Dean at like 14/15 and he’s old enough that he wants to fuck about on the weekend or on a Friday night but all he has is his brother who is like 11 and is ALSO starting to get a little too old to trail around after Dean. But like. What else are they going to do. They don’t have anyone else their own age or even close to it. So they’re like. Let’s take a bunch of baseballs and an old bat they sound by the side of the road into an empty field I guess. Go shoot cans in the woods I guess. Play go fish with a pack of water damaged cards that’s missing a few clubs I guess. Sneak into PG-13 films without paying I guess(bc Dean for sure could handle an R rated film duh but he’s stuck with his little brother and he’s not trying to give Sam nightmares). And I’m sure that was fun. I’m sure they made their own fun. But when autumn comes and Dean has to write his ‘what I did during the summer’ essay what is he even going to say?

sprout and cosmo individually prepare food for everyone in gardenview (after the ichor incident, the way I think it went, toon handlers kinda had to abandon them all) by working in two separate groups.

first group, which sprout cooks for, consists of rodger, toodles, scraps, goob, poppy, looey, razdaz and boxten.

second group, which cosmo cooks for, consists of glisten, astro, shelly, finn, gigi, connie, brightney and shrimpo.

pebble gets a food bowl near group 1, since cosine kept giving pebble pet treats

vee can't eat (duh)

flutter can only eat nectar, so she gets to sit at whichever table she wishes with either a bowl or cup full of nectar

dandy refuses to take part in dining there but he usually gets sprout to give him 'leftovers' (he makes more specifically for him)

if one of the two is unable to cook, the other takes over by cooking for both tables around an hour apart

also, more depressing note with this: due to having to cook so much for so many people, sprout and cosmo usually don't get to eat that much themselves, and they have actually had to not eat anything for the night or make something else which 9 times out of 10 is not that nourishing or filling many times. they'd never admit it's painful but it's equally painfully obvious

i think also a huge part of why artists majorly refuse machine-learning (bc that’s what it is, i refuse to call it ai bc it’s inaccurate and gives tech bros too much credit) is that the people currently championing and developing those tools actively want it to replace artists. They loudly and proudly hate the arts and want every creative professional put out of work. They want every creative HOBBYIST to give up. I have seen machine-learning art generators call us artoids (like ‘femoids’ incels or unhealthily online misogynists use to refer to women. To give you the idea of the kind of hate-fueled superiority we’re dealing with) and circle-jerk to the idea of art no longer being a career and no one being able to ask for commissions anymore.

Machine-learning tools are currently a symbol of people who see creativity and art as an enemy, a boogeyman to be slain. They are designed accordingly - stealing human work to create the data, designing it so that people can generate ‘sketches’ or ‘doodles’ to deceive the layman that it was hand-drawn, using real-world likenesses without consent, etc. When tech bros get tired of weaponizing machine-learning because they think we need to get ‘real jobs’ or that furry porn artists charge too much for comms and need to be stopped, it will probably be a lot easier for artists to embrace it as it’ll be a lot easier to develop ethical tools. On top of making development easier, it could become a great tool to make the visual arts accessible for people that have disabilities affecting drawing ability. It could be a wonderful technology.

But as it stands we’re not there yet.
