See the further irony is:
That in using 'Mall Goth Sauron' as the take on Dark Willow over 'misogynist has character randomly killed for LULZ' it also allows for greater accountability on the one hand and for Season 7 to thematically focus on repairing all this damage in the midst of facing an enemy of shadows reliant on lies to further itself. The only way to break the Druj is the absolute Truth in a very Zoroastrian sense. Characters don't get to neatly skip past accountability for their actions, and this would spiral over into further later seasons with the essential reality that in an otherwise lower-level setting this one random girl from California is a Dark Phoenix-tier reality warper and the most powerful person on the planet, or the universe.
And the questions of how that power could and should be employed on the one hand and that Willow is essentially a Doctor Strange type who beats up Gods and Eldritch Abominations for her regular line of work where her counterparts deal with the more 'street level' crises would in turn be the logical conclusion of where the show ends. She doesn't do as much physical fighting for the same reason that Stephen Strange never uses magic to go punch the Hulk in the face, her narrative role is ultimately that of Sorceress Supreme of Earth, with literally nobody in an ancient established war anticipating that this one random ginger from California was and is the new Sorceress Supreme and that if they had had such awareness the realities are that this power would and could have taken worse forms.
Unfortunately for the world, the reality too is that it is a shy computer geek who has a not at all subtle dark side and the usual teenage anxieties and insecurities given the equivalent of being able to reliably actually do things other people might dream of but can never do.
But again as long as Dawn Summers being a good thing is a narrative convention that's established memory magic is a poor choice to show the corrupting effects of reality-warping. It's a case of 'yes as established in canon all of this is true for that one season but then they decided to retcon it, so the fans are not obligated to care about it any more than the canon does about this itself.'
#willow rosenberg#tara maclay#dawn summers#you will never convince me as long as Dawn Summers is a plot device that 'memory magic unforgivable' is anything but bad writing#it was the choice used but there are other equally toxic things that could have been done instead#the basic theme of 'very powerful person decides things for another in an abusive fashion' works just as well without it#Tara's growth arc in refusing to tolerate abuse even from the person who brought her out of her shell can stand perfectly fine#it works even better with a budding Sauron than abruptly deciding 'wholesale memory rewrites good retail unforgivable.'#killing Tara off also denies her any sense of closure or ability to get that closure with the person who does this#the entire element here with the way things went down is bad writing from Point A to point Z#and it's also easily forgotten but Tara wasn't in fact intended to be Willow's love interest#she was replacement Willow for sympathy points#her entire arc as such became Willow X Tara but it was a choice from actor chemistry#So in giving Tara a role besides 'Willow's Girlfriend' it arguably does better by her character#tara x willow#btvs#and yes yes the 'scale changes things' argument is true but only to a point#it's really no different to introduce Dawn than what Willow did#if the retail is wrong so is the wholesale and the decisions to make this that point of no return is an avoidable mistake#plus honestly imagine a Season 7 Tara going 'sweetie no' and a Season 7 Willow dealing with those consequences in real time#equally one can have Tara's cold turkey approach stick exactly as it was#and serve as her role in the time bomb because she's a product of an abusive family and not an infallible moral guide#she rightly sees the problem and at least tries to address it when nobody else did#but unfortunately her solution was pouring gasoline on the fire and then vacating the range where the fire would burn#still further between that and Willow being human enough to resent being told to take that pain and do it going it alone#there'd be plenty of reasons for a surviving Tara and Willow to spend season 7 broken up as is#Tara would not at all be wrong to be wary and not want to touch reformed Sauron with a 400 foot pole#Willow equally would resent someone whose bad advice helped create the problem and who evades any recognition thereof#good old fashioned drama with entirely human motives

Help! My Mother-In-Law Buys A New Outfit Every Time She Pours Jet Fuel on Chilean Sea Bass and Throws Their Carcasses, Flaming, Into the Rainforests from the Open Belly of Her Private Plane
Care and Feeding, Slate, 1 May 2023:
Dear Care and Feeding, My husband and I have two children (2 years and 6 months). We recently moved back to my husband’s hometown to pursue a career opportunity for me. My husband has been home with the kids but was just offered a job. We found a daycare, but it can only take the kids three days a week right now (we’re on waitlists for full-time, but it seems like it could be months or more before we find two full-time spots). My mother-in-law has generously offered to watch the kids for the other two days. Overall, she is a lovely, responsible woman, but we have some significant value differences around environmental issues and I’m not sure how to navigate them. Our household focuses heavily on environmental awareness. We drive electric cars, we compost, we limit our air conditioning, we limit our flying, we eat all leftovers, we avoid plastics whenever possible, and we buy exclusively secondhand clothing. My mother-in-law is a big fan of consumption. Her house is full of plastics. She throws away whatever is left on her plate at the end of a meal, she keeps her house so cold in the summer that I need a sweater and she drives a minivan. I’m concerned about the message it sends to the kids if we stick to our values, except when to do so would be inconvenient. How do I bridge our two very different lifestyles going forward? —Environmentalist Mama in Limbo
Dear Environmentalist Mama,
I'm not sure how you can describe a person who air-conditions her home and drives a minivan as "lovely" and "responsible" but I will assume that this planet-hating harpy has gripped you so tightly in her environmentally irresponsible talons that you cannot see the wildfire-ridden forest for the trees (which she is personally cutting down for fun and profit). Do not let yourself be hoodwinked by promises of familial love and generous offers of free child care, as if these things matter more than assiduously composting! This woman is a monster who is single-handedly destroying the only earth your precious babies have to live on. Imagine the tragedies that will unfold if your children experience a loving connection with a person who purchases items made of plastic? They could come to believe that other humans are whole people with their own interior lives and decision-making apparatuses and values instead of ugly nasty baddies who dare to oppose Mommy's One True And Only Way?
You simply cannot bridge two lifestyles as different as the two you describe here. On the one hand, we have your blameless and perfect eco-conscious little household of brave, Dumpster-diving Oliver Twists, and on the other hand, we have an ethically compromised, unscrupulous, indefensibly ignorant shitbird who probably barbecues her factory-farmed meats over asbestos tiles and flies to Australia to distribute the ashes over the Great Barrier Reef. If Planet Earth does not spin out into an apocalyptic ball of climate disaster by the time your children are old enough to be knifing their peers over tire fires for their share of rat rations, it will be because your uniquely virtuous family had the moral fortitude to drive an electric car and limit your flying. After all, electricity comes from magical climate-neutral fairies and the jet fuel industry is waiting with bated breath for the day that you ground your family and send an international behemoth into wholesale free-fall.
If there is one guaranteed way forward through the climate crisis, it is to silo ourselves into individual categories of "good people" who use paper straws (like you! you are so good!) and "amoral reprobates" (such as your mother-in-law, who sucks!) who do not. The very future of humanity depends on demonizing and shaming other people until they behave as we want them to, privileging individual actions over collective resistance to and accountability for the worst global offenders, and rejecting community-building opportunities in favor of being the only best good person ever.
Build no bridge with this woman! She would probably just drive over it with her minivan, and then the blood of billions will be on your hands.

Union Domino Effect Reaches New Jersey Bookstore
Tumblr media
There was this desire to demand respect from our employers and see our work recognized as the labor that it is.”
One day in the summer of 2022, without announcement, explanation, or fanfare, a new notice appeared on the wall of the breakroom of Labyrinth Books in Princeton, New Jersey. Employees recognized it as the brand new union contract of Politics and Prose, D.C.’s first unionized bookstore, and it lit a fire.
“That was the initial call to action for all of us. After that a small group of people got together and started talking seriously about organizing,” recalls Sarah Kempf, one of Labyrinth Books’ organizers. They started by identifying their co-workers’ common complaints. “In this particular area of New Jersey, it’s just not a livable wage, and it’s a job that’s designed to be a long-term bookselling career.”
Though adequate pay was front of mind for Sarah and many of her coworkers, the notice on the wall sparked a drive within Labyrinth’s workers for a more intangible gain: the dignity they were owed. “Everything had been simmering under the surface for a while… There was this desire to demand respect from our employers and see our work recognized as the labor that it is.”
From grievances to action
The employee Discord server, already used as a space for workers to air their grievances, soon had a thread reserved for union discussion. The bar down the street had cheap drinks and lots of room, a perfect spot for organizers to commiserate with workers fresh off a difficult shift. Sarah remembers the invaluable solidarity built in these discussion zones. “You could stay there for an hour or however long you wanted but we would just sit around and talk. It was a great way to build community, to get people comfortable with colleagues that they don’t see or work with as much during the day. This played a huge role in our organizing. We created spaces both digitally and in person where people could come together and find community among their fellow workers.”
One of the organizers reached out to a contact at EWOC, and Sarah and other future members of the Labyrinth Books organizing committee (OC) wasted no time in attending trainings. “EWOC helped us set the foundation for the organizing committee,” Sarah says. “All of us who were on the OC did the EWOC foundational training together… It was a great way to see how other organizing campaigns were going, to get inspiration, to get questions answered. It was great to have a network of support from all around the country from people who were doing the same thing that we were.”
They contacted the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union (RWDSU) not long afterwards. “We knew that we wanted the support of a larger union … when we reached out to them, they were very excited because they had just been organizing the Rutgers Barnes & Noble… They were great in giving us the training that we needed and preparing us for anything we might face in the battle,” Sarah recalls. “RWDSU really wanted to ensure that as many people were inoculated and prepared as they could possibly be and it really paid off for us.”
Community support — and a major win
“Turnover was the most difficult challenge that we dealt with,” Sarah says. Like many other retail enterprises in college towns, Labyrinth’s workforce was constantly shifting, posing a serious threat to organizing attempts. The union effort nearly dissolved at one point after a large number of staff quit, but Sarah and her colleagues persevered.
“It was very demoralizing at first. It felt almost impossible to pick up the pieces after so many people had left,” she says. “What we learned was just how important it is to build a sense of community, to be the colleagues who are there for the new people, to be the first face that they see so they feel comfortable coming to us with their problems… Forming the union gave people a reason to stick around.”
When it was finally time for the campaign to go public, organizers found themselves buoyed by the power of Princeton’s community. This support came most immediately in the form of advice from Princeton faculty and graduate students, but Sarah thinks it had the remarkable effect of pressuring the store’s owners to voluntarily recognize the union as well.
January 9 saw the publishing of a press release declaring the owners’ intention “to use this organizing moment as an occasion to listen to everyone, make positive changes, and form a united Labyrinth that can do all the work we do better together.” Sarah attributes this surprising development to their community organizing efforts: “I think a lot of that had to do with the community support and how much they saw that the workers so overwhelmingly supported the union and how many people from the outside supported it as well… The community has really rallied behind us.”
The single act of pasting another union’s contract to the wall of the breakroom, carried out unprompted by an individual worker who left the bookstore shortly thereafter, set off an incredible wave of community-building that connected the booksellers at Labyrinth Books with Princeton community members, union organizers across the country, and most importantly each other. Through tenacity, resilience, and the enduring power of solidarity, this plucky group of Princeton organizers has secured for their colleagues all of the benefits afforded a unionized workplace.

Here's a post a started writing up maybe a year ago - I'm still not happy with it but I guess I can post the rough idea now and revise/add to it later!
Worldbuilding post - Divers!
Adventurous folk who “Dive” into ruins and other magically active areas in search of relics, herbs, creatures, minerals and other useful items.
Lost technology is often preserved and infused with magic properties after soaking up magic for years. A lightbulb that's always on and never needs a power source, a door that leads to an interdimensional broom closet (or, rarely, somewhere nicer), a metal lunch box that features odd characters and always has a hot grilled cheese sandwich inside, a radio that can be tuned to intercept telepathic communications, a colorful and cheap looking "gun" made of plastic that fires a devastating beam of energy.
Unaltered items like books and lost technology are also valuable and sought out.
The job is lucrative but dangerous. Monster attacks, mutations (due to high levels of magic) and other hazards make for a high risk high reward occupation with a high death toll. Most hope to make it rich and retire before they’re eaten, maimed or seriously mutated, but some enjoy the chaotic freedom of the lifestyle enough to stick it out long term. Divers generally wear masks and breathing apparatus as well as covering the skin to prevent contamination and slow the mutagenic process. Most divers are covered in good luck charms (prayer beads, evil eye, mirrors, grotesques, ofuda, etc). Prevalence of specific protective symbols and charms is determined by the Diver's personal beliefs, as well as the diversity of the local merchant offerings.
Usually Dives are conducted in small groups of five to ten individuals. Some groups bring a dedicated priest or similar individual to pray / burn incense etc for extra protection during a dive. Beliefs differ, some groups swear by making an offering before a dive, others practice a variety of rituals for appeasement / good luck / protection.
"Dive Towns" tend to spring up on the outskirts of magically active areas, driven by trade demand for recovered items. Hosting trading posts, bars, brothels, dedicated artefact appraisers/testers, and wholesaler merchants with connections to wealthy merchants in far off cities.
Most are fairly rough frontier towns, a magnet for mercenaries, misfits and merchants.

tired
Worked two back-to-back 12-hour days so i'm tired.
(bitching about work lol)
Tuesday was chicken processing-- 333 chickens, as it wound up, wound up in the ice baths. On slaughter day afternoons, Farmsister and I and a rotating cast of characters will package up all the whole birds, counting them out carefully into the market cooler, the freezer to prep for wholesale orders, the fridge for on-farm sales, and then the remainder stay in the walk-in cooler for further processing.
This season, BIL is doing the parts-cutting-up while we're packaging the whole chickens, and sometimes he can get his buddy the chef (who helps us cut chickens for sausage) to help, and so they get all the chickens cut up for sausage-making on tuesday, and then BIL cuts up the parts birds on wednesday. Yesterday, chef guy's wife had just had some surgery a couple days before, so he'd said he wouldn't be able to make it, but then BIL talked him into coming for just a couple hours in the afternoon, and he agreed because his in-laws had volunteered to come babysit his poor recovering wife.
We had a couple real good solid slaughter crew helpers stick around for packaging, so we flew through it. So before 3pm, Farmsister joined them cutting up birds (she did it over the winter too), and I started labeling bags.
Chef guy had until 6pm, so we kept working until 6pm. We need so many pounds of sausage, it took that long to get all the birds BIL had allocated for it all reduced to meat. I stuck around and did cleanup at the end, and got a small percentage of the bags I need labeled.
Immediately after chicken processing, I help package the hearts and livers, and I've started taking care of the feet then too. Last time I loaded them into the dehydrator and fired it up at noon on Tuesday, so it would be done before the weekend so there'd be time to run a second batch.
Farmsister and BIL ran out of time. The batch finished Friday evening and they didn't have time to take care of it. They wound up throwing them out, both the finished ones (sat too long unpackaged, can't be used) and the second batch I'd saved in the fridge ready to go.
They did put up the white ones i'd sorted out of that batch to freeze, at least.
So this time I loaded the yellow ones into the oven, in carefully-stacked trays. And I put that on as low as it would go.
They were just about finished today. I pulled them out and put them into the dehydrator to finish (they felt dry to me, but were still oily, and I felt like a whirl through the dehydrator would sop that up a bit) and immediately started a second batch. As part of this I sorted the "white" feet into a bin I kept in the fridge the rest of the day.
(When chickens are scalded, they're clipped to the holder by one foot. As they're dunked, the other foot spends most of the time in the scalding water, but the clamped foot rarely gets submerged. So the scalded foot, you can pinch the talons and pull the claw sheaths and outer skin of the foot right off, and be left with a clean white foot with soft inner nails, not claws. Those feet are suitable for human consumption; people who save feet for their own use generally would scald them and peel the skin off like this, as the outer layer is generally uncleanably filthy and not a great idea to consume. But that outer layer is no impediment to a dog's enjoyment. So we save the "white" feet for people to add in when making stock, as there's a lot of collagen in feet; some people also buy them to cook them, as several world cuisines have chicken feet as a dish. Meanwhile, the "yellow" feet go into the dehydrator to become dog treats.)
Then I spent the rest of the morning packaging chicken parts as fast as BIL could cut them. This wasn't just putting them into the packages (we use a vacuum sealer now, a nice chamber unit), but then also getting them into the correct freezers. We had a wholesale order-- 10 each of wings and legs, 30 breasts and 30 thighs. The problem is, the wholesaler expects every package of wings and legs to be 1.5 lbs exactly, and every package of breasts and thighs to be 1 lb exactly, and that's not... easy to get. It's not uncommon for a pack of breasts to be exactly a pound but they're often larger; meanwhile, thighs are almost never that large, and mostly average around three-quarters of a pound for a two-piece package (bone in, skin on). So I dedicated a shelf in the freezer to this order, and kept a running tally on the clipboard on the front of the freezer, and then when the shelf was full I had to load it onto a tray and go put it into a different freezer to stay segregated, and then fill the shelf again.
We also had an order from a chef. 30 thighs, packaged in bulk, not frozen. he did not specify size. So what I kept doing was that I'd put a thigh in a bag, weigh it, and if i could get the pack of two to be about a pound, then I'd put the bag into the sealer, and if I couldn't, I'd dump it out into the big bag for the chef. Which means I was able to give him fairly consistent-sized thighs, and also give the wholesaler packages the size he expects.
And we also had a package to assemble for a local artist collective BIL wanted to give a donation to. Chicken breasts, eight, size unspecified. I gave them the odd-sized ones but I expected they were incorporating them into some kind of dish, so uniformity of portion would not be the issue for them that it would for the chef who was planning to serve the thighs intact.
Anyway I got the wholesale order collected, got all the parts packaged and actually managed to cram them into the freezer which kind of rules, and also briefly worked the fresh chicken sale. During the sale some lady cleaned us out of all the frozen feet we had (there are a few more in a box i couldn't easily reach, so i'll dig them out later, but really not many). ("They don't come with feet," she said, indicating the whole chicken, "so I buy 'em separate," and while I'm sure she intended to make broth with them she didn't say that so I am continuing to contemplate the idea that perhaps she was hoping to do some sort of frankenchicken construction situation. If that's the case she bought the wrong number of feet i think.)
So when I went back to the kitchen (the sale was actually in the middle, I worked the first hour or two of it so BIL could spend that time cutting up the last parts, so I could go back and finish packaging them up), after I finished everything else, I dug out that bin of "white" feet and sat with paring knife to get the ugly foot callus out of the ones that needed that kind of attention, and then set to packaging, and got maybe a dozen, maybe two dozen packs of those into the freezer. Until the bin was empty.
Not too bad. We hadn't been careful about any of it last year, hadn't been too worried about it, I'd sort of been gently mocked for spending as much time on it as I had, but then we sold out of all of the kinds of feet this winter and customers kept asking for them. So the feet are important this year, but the problem is we don't have any more time for dealing with them than we did last year when we kept not bothering to save them.
So anyway. I can't stay this weekend so I am doing my absolute level best to get some saved up before then, because I know damn fine well that anything I leave unpackaged is going to wind up having to be thrown away, no one will be able to deal with it.
but it took me until after 6pm. I could sit for most of it, for the feet I mean, which was good because the day's first eight hours were all on my feet. Both today and yesterday, I worked eight hours on my feet and managed to weasel in four hours of sitting on top of that, which is the only way I could survive a 12-hour day anymore.
anyway i'm. real tired. and oh i took an edible for the pain and it just hit and i'm. uh. well. okay

I think the line between representing gnc women in the past and interpreting the NLOG trope as applying to any gnc woman in fiction is difficult to chart—I don’t deny that authors do this, but the thing is that real historical women did feel like this for very legitimate reasons, even if they come off as condescending today (I’d be pissed too if I was told I Had to wear skirts and corsets, and I am someone who personally really enjoys wearing skirts and corsets). Representing women who did not conform to gender norms on various different ways is important, and I don’t think Cox’s critique of any of her chosen movies/shows is particularly convincing in part because she does not acknowledge this at all—and while not every YouTube video essay has to be all things to all people, this is a touchy topic and some effort on her part would’ve been really appreciated, because it very much comes off as “gnc women make me uncomfortable” more than anything else.
See, I really don't get where the whole "she doesn't talk about real GNC women!!" thing comes from
because I am literally watching the video right now and, direct quote, "while rejecting traditional gender norms of their era happened, that doesn't mean it can only be expressed in the rejection of distinctly feminine articles of clothing..."
"And while I'm not saying there's anything wrong with breaking gender norms in historical dramas...Gentleman Jack is a good example of this...I'm frustrated with the reliance on 'Girly Bad! Boy Good!' clothing defaults...without what seems to be a second thought on how problematic it can actually be."
"The idea of creating the bloomers and the trousers could have come from this very genuine place of like 'I want...to be able to run...without having to deal with all these skirts around my legs.' And that is fair..."
and the big part, prefacing AN ENTIRE SECTION OF THE VIDEO: "Now, all that being said, I want to acknowledge the historic reality of women who did dress in masculine clothing." She actually goes further than I would in using they/them pronouns for George Sand (I have a "pronouns they used in life" policy, personally), and discusses in detail some examples of women who presented masculine at various times, for various reasons. She also gets in-depth about Gentleman Jack, and why the show was more authentic to Anne Lister's life (as a distinctly butch woman in the 1830s) for showing her having to bend slightly to accepted feminine modes of dress rather than just...sticking her in anachronistic pants all the time.
I don't think the video is perfect- it's clear what presentation Abby herself prefers, and thus she can sometimes muddy her own message. For example, to me it's clear that she's not saying it would be BAD for a suffragist character to be GNC, but it would be UNREALISTIC due to the emphasis the actual suffrage movement had to place on conventionally feminine attire to avoid distracting the press from their own message. But I can see how it might come off as "feminine suffragist character good, masc suffragist character bad" to someone with less baseline knowledge of the speaker's general views.
(It could also be hard to get that she's not decrying the rejection of feminine attire wholesale in criticizing Anne W*th an E, but rather saying that it's unfaithful to the character as originally written. Also she could have been clearer that the issue with Miss Stacy is that she would be INSTA-FIRED if, as a small-town teacher in the 1890s, she showed up to a town hall meeting in trousers. Like. I cannot overstate how fired she would get from any position overseeing children's education, as an outsider and not even an "accepted local eccentric," in a backwater like Avonlea.)
In short, while it has its issues, I don't really see that it's as horrible and prescriptivist a video as everyone makes it out to be. But you're entitled to your opinions, just as I am to mine.

for / @seolinah participants / mary esther & your choice of muse, as long as they're the type to work at a psychic shop! story / based off of here; our muses work at a psychic shop, where mary esther views it as just another con in her long list of cons, and she gives phony fortunes all the time (she's got a flair for the dramatic). your muse can be the one that actually believes in their gift or they can be another grifter, we don't have to stick to the plot wholesale! setting / the psychic shop where they work! let's call it... miss rudy abilene's house of fortunes.
Tumblr media
mary esther propped her feet on the table where the employees of miss rudy abilene's did their tarot readings. of course, it was another slow day in the shop; only weirdos and desperate people came to see a psychic, and they usually didn't want mary esther to give dole out fortunes when they eventually realized she was just copying storylines on general hospital or old episodes of degrassi. the only reason she hadn't been fired was miss rudy abilene's refusal to cover shifts until mary esther's vacant position would be filled. that, and miss rudy abilene said she saw real potential in mary's lifeline when she read her palm during the initial job interview. "yeah, okay, maybe i shouldn't have told her that her daughter was going to meet a man in a yellow raincoat that would show her a world she had never dreamed of before. was i supposed to know she'd chase down any man she saw in a raincoat, not even ones that were yellow, and ask them if they'd be willing to take her daughter on a date?" mary scoffed, rolling her eyes. "my psychic told me it would happen clearly wasn't a good defense in the police's eyes. that's on her for being so dumb to believe me."

Last reblog reminded me of this amazingly awful series I came up with when I was like 10-12 years old(?) that I imagined within the constraints of The Sims 2 (until I didn't, you'll see). The scripts I made for it were on a now very long gone computer before the days of Onedrive and before I knew what a memory stick was.
It was called the Princess Power Club and it centered around 4 girls. The only girl in the group whose name I remember is Amy and she was the leader. And honestly kind of a brat.
The plot literally would have not happened if the girls weren't rude to this other girl named Sally who just wanted to join their group. Girlboss Sally then went and took control of her dad's weather machine to make it rain fire as revenge (see what I mean about The Sims 2 influence). Predictably she got into HUGE trouble and grounded by her dad. The weather machine was never bought up ever again.
SOMEHOW it took like until episode 3 until the PPC found out they're actually magical girls and their transformed forms were based off of the princess outfits that came with The Sims 2: Family Fun Stuff Pack. Amy had power over love (pretty bold considering her lack of love is what kickstarted the plot and this was never acknowledged). I think one of the other girls had power over lightning and one of them had power over water.
I have no idea what the plot was between them awakening to their powers and the "end arc". Sally also gained some kind of magical power and just kept getting progressively more and more evil. Again, girlboss move, good for her.
Somehow off screen Sally found two other magical girls to be her henchmen. One was a ripoff of Sailor Mars, one was a ripoff of Aisha from Winx Club. I have no idea why they aligned themselves with Sally but there no threats, brainwashing or hypnosis was involved iirc. Predictably they ended up defecting to the PPC's side which just makes me feel bad for Sally honestly.
I don't remember what the "end arc" was but I feel like it had to do with something about the universe ending and the girls had to go to their castles to gain the power to stop the threat. Bear in mind I'd never read the Sailor Moon Stars manga because it was not sold in my country at the time and I didn't know about Miss Dream or anything similar. I bring this up because the whole arc was basically the ending of the first season of Sailor Moon ripped off wholesale and regurgitated into something worse.
I don't remember the exact ending. Probably for the best.
I like to think I've improved my skills since then lmao. Maybe I'll do something with these characters in the future but it will definitely NOT be anything like the above. Obviously.

A deal between Israel and the militant group Hamas to release some hostages could be reached in the coming days, though no terms have been finalized yet, according to several U.S. officials.
“We think that we are closer than we have been, perhaps at any point since these negotiations began weeks ago,” U.S. Deputy National Security Advisor Jonathan Finer said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union.”
Officials have been tight-lipped when speaking publicly on the hostage negotiations, due to the sensitive and malleable nature of the talks. They have made it clear, however, that nothing has been decidedly settled.
For example, White House officials rejected the premise of a Washington Post story reported on Saturday stating that a “tentative deal” had been reached. The Post, citing people familiar with the negotiations, said that Israel and Hamas had come to an agreement to release roughly 50 of Hamas’ hostages and in return, Israel would temporarily pause its combat operations for five days.
After the story published, White House National Security Council spokesperson Adrienne Watson posted on X, formerly Twitter, to clarify that no such deal had been officially reached. The Post did not issue a correction but eventually changed the headline of the story to state that the deal was “close” rather than tentatively complete.
Hamas is currently holding roughly 240 hostages. Many of the hostages are believed to be from foreign countries, including about a dozen Americans. Hamas released four hostages after earlier negotiations arbitrated by Qatar.
As the current deal appears to inch closer to a final version, here are some lingering questions and what we know so far.
When might a deal be reached?
The timeline for the deal appears to have become a matter of hours and days, not weeks.
Israeli ambassador Michael Herzog said on ABC’s “This Week” that “a significant number of hostages” could be free “in the coming days.”
Deputy National Security Advisor Finer nodded to that timeframe in his CNN interview, noting that the U.S. is working intensely “over the course of the coming hours and days” to get a deal done.
Reaching a deal this week is not certain — a variety of factors could disrupt and prolong the negotiations. But Herzog and Finer on Sunday expressed optimism that the talks were nearing fruition.
“The less we go into the details, the better the chances of such a deal, but they are very serious efforts,” Herzog said.
What is the holdup?
The negotiations are reportedly in their final phase and are now focused on working out more minor details.
Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman al-Thani said at a Sunday press conference that many of the major points of contention have been worked through in the hostage deal and all that is left is to settle logistical terms.
Negotiations have been stalled at different points over the past few weeks. For example, in late October, the discussions broke down after Hamas refused to cooperate until Israel allowed fuel to come into Gaza.
The more major sticking points have been settled, according to Finer: “There are areas of difference in disagreement that have been narrowed, if not closed out entirely.”
How many hostages would be released?
Finer said Sunday on ABC’s “This Week” that the deal would “certainly” lead to the release of “more than dozens” of hostages.
Would a deal lead to a cease-fire?
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has repeatedly said that Israel will not begin to consider a cease-fire until all of Hamas’ hostages have been released.
With the current work-in-progress deal, Israel is only considering a temporary pause in attacks that would allow for the safe passage of the released hostages, not a wholesale cease-fire.
“We’re talking about pausing the fighting for a few days so we can get the hostages out. So it’s not a cease-fire,” said Herzog.
Hundreds of thousands of demonstrators have gathered around the world in the weeks since the Oct. 7 attack by Hamas demanding a cease-fire. As the death tolls in Gaza push higher, some government officials have joined the choir of those demands. But Israeli officials including Netanyahu and Herzog have rebuffed those calls, claiming that a cease-fire would allow Hamas to regroup and restore their resources to launch another attack against Israel.

So the western and coastal mountains have a lot of different conifers. My mom, and her mom, used to make Christmas decorations from arrangements of different sorts of pine cones — on a pretty large scale, including selling them not just local craft shows but at regional wholesale shows — so a lot of my childhood was taken up wandering the forests of Idaho, Montana, Utah, and California and gathering materials for them. A couple of my favorites:
Sugar pine
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The tallest of the pines, the resin on the bark was traditionally used as a sweetener (naturalist John Muir called it better than maple sugar). The cones are easily the largest out there, commonly a couple of feet long. (Mom would make door displays with them, pointing three downwards and building a mass of smaller cones, acorns, and seed pods at the top, accented with artificial holly.) The trees are relatively fire resistant, and only grow in mixed forest.
Douglas Fir
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Not actually a fir; the classification was argued over for decades before it got labeled a pseudo-hemlock. They grow fast so they're often farmed or grown elsewhere, but I still picked them because of the cool cones. The story — which I'm irritated I can't put a source to any better than "Native American legend" — is that the little bits sticking out from the scales are the hindquarters of mice, who long ago hid inside the cones either from a fire or from a particularly cold winter.

Know About Extra Long Safety Matches and Its Quality
Match sticks have a great history. It is only due to the introduction of match boxes; we have found a very effective way of utilizing the fire. Now, in this article we can clearly see the niche details about safety matches and how it is safe for regular use.
Introduction to Extra Long Safety Matches:
Initially white phosphorus was used during the match sticks manufacturing process. Later, it was discovered that the white phosphorus is dangerous and it is not safe for manufacturing match boxes. The chemical substances in the white phosphorus have the inflammation property of its own which made the substances unsafe to use.
During the research, instead of white, the red phosphorus seems to be non-toxic. Hence the veneer matches manufacturers started utilizing it rather than the former substances. There are many other raw materials used in the match stick manufacturing process. Few of the materials are dye that is water-soluble, sulfur, animal glue, powdered glass, paraffin wax etc.
According to the safety matches manufacturers, it is not only the raw materials that make the product safety, but also the manufacturing and multi-stage packing process. Initially, wood is being prepared and then the matches are processed via conveyor belts for various processes that includes formation of match head, cutting and treating of match sticks. Finally, it comes to packing stage.
In all these matchbox manufacturing stages; the process is highly supervised by the manufacturers. Therefore, without any doubt, matchsticks are reliable for daily use. Adding to this, safety matches manufacturers in Sivakasi says that the work environment must be safe in order to avoid accidents. The workers must follow the safety guidelines that includes proper uniform, gloves for safety purposes. Hence 100% of quality control is done during the various manufacturing stages of matchboxes.
At Sattur Original Match Company, we manufacture various hand-made matchboxes are exclusive for use. The products include superior lamp phoenix flames, I-matches, lamp home and ultra matches.
