I'm not sure many people know about this adaptation but there's a Jekyll and Hyde Ballet! It leaves the Finnish National Ballet's website on 24th October so I wanted to post it here in case anyone was interested before it's gone.
It's a decent adaptation in my opinion however it doesn't follow the original novella storyline and I feel it was based off of the musical. Nonetheless, it's worth a look!

i found a full recording of this ballet!! it’s the finnish production, so it has different actors/dancers, but it’s the same choreography and music :)
i’ve never really watched a full ballet or read dracula before but this has kind of made want to get into both of those things lol

in bed with what is maybe possibly covid coughing so hard its hurting my back. just finished watching the Finnish national ballet do A Christmas Carol it was so long and yes i cried bro i cry every tiiiime i watch a ballet. even if its not in person. at the right time of the month even just hearing a ballet number will make me tear up. just straight up passing away. i feel wretched. sharing the room with my sister, who gave me The Sickness, and she keeps defending scrooge, grounds for defense being "they need to stop being broke and make their own money. get up and hustle"

🔥 thoughts on the costumes for the Alice in Wonderland ballet?
I'm assuming this about the Wheeldon version, with design by Bob Crowley. Honestly? IMO, they're mid. They're not the worst I've ever seen but I just find them very uninspiring and uncreative. The puppets are rad as hell though. Personally, I think the Finnish Ballet has some lovely traditional Alice costumes. In my dream world, I want a ballet that really leans into the inherent surreal nature of Alice, like the Schiaperelli/Dali collaborations or the Dadaists/Russian Avant-Garde (I'm thinking specifically Kazimir Malevich or Alexander Rodchenko)
Aforementioned rad puppets, designed by Toby Olie
Alice in Wonderland designs by Robert Perdziola for the Finnish National Ballet
Costumes designed by Vladimir Tatlin
#big fan of Robert Perdziola and i hope to work on a production he designed one day#asks and such#ask game

Some context/extra information about the dress code at Linnanjuhlat (Finnish independence day 6.12) and Käärijä.
Here's what the the president's website says about the dress code:
Translation:
The dress code for the reception is a formal dress, i.e. a long evening dress, national dress, tailcoat, dark suit, or official uniform corresponding to a formal dress. Tuxedos are not worn on Independence Day Original size medals or miniature medals are used with the party dress. In dark suit and national dress, men wear only original size insignia. However, women can wear miniature medals The belt knife belonging to the national costume cannot be used in the Castle It is recommended to wear Finnish badges of honor. More detailed instructions on the use of medals can be found in the Order of Honor guide and on the website of the Chancellery of the Order
As stated in the instructions, men are recommended to wear a dark suit. The designer of Käärijä's bolero (Teemu Muurimäki) has tailored many suits for the day of Independence reception, which is why it's likely for him to design Käärijä's suit this year. Last year Muurimäki designed a suit for a ballet dancer Atte Kilpinen that broke the dress code because of it's color which caused some buzz in the media:
What will Käärijä wear to the Independence day reception?
