Final Piece

When making my final piece, I realised through text prints I needed to print larger so I needed to change my paper as I had only planned on printing a3. I therefore as a substitute printed on a textured card. It was only textures on 1 side but still had the effect I was going for. 

I cut out my piece with a scalpel and ruler, and with a scalpel for the robot holes. I was quite happy with how this came out and thought the robots all looked neat, and the thicker card made the more fragile paper in the cutout strong. 

I am really happy with how my final piece looks, the quality of the printing and the colours.

Final Piece

Final A1 piece created using the techniques I explored in my sketchbook and in my development paintings. Such as the paint roller, splattering, blowing, dry brush, sgraffito and sponge. The continued theme of the greenery of mother nature, fighting through the damaging rubbish that we create and discard to decay. The leaves bust through the canvas that I tore, to portray them fighting through to survive. I used contrasting cold colours for the metals and rubber, things that take years upon years to decay, against the warmer colours of the chair that is made of wood which is slightly better for the planet, but still a burden.

Final piece part 3

Around the middle of my drawing I noticed some pieces of my 2nd object that were of no use then I thought of an idea where I could put them to use but turning the pieces of the objects into some kind of artifacts that could be in the pyramid and also I used some big pieces of the object to turn it into a map for the location of the pyramid and I also tried to bring latest technology into he Pyrmid by using a memory chip that was in my object and Turning it into an access keep for the prymid.

Developing the wall.

After another discussion via teams with Jo, she mentioned trying paper mache with a mix of PVA and water. I finished off mod rocking the rest of my wall (using a small corridor space since outsides been raining!) and then cut down strips of newspaper and mixed PVA and water to layer this down alongside my emulsion transfers and leaving gaps from my previous emulsions on the mod rock. I am officially out of mod rock and art funds! So from here and out, its survival of the art and bits and bobs I have left.

The newspaper has made the whole piece alot more noisy, and busy like taking away the dusty, modrock qualities which I now miss! 

My next ideas/thoughts are to blend the remaining newspaper I cut up and paper mache it around the photos (only) and then to paint a thin layer of white wall paint over the newspaper and the paper mache leaving the newspaper seep through the paint slightly because it holds a quality I’d like to keep, the fact that the whole process of layering itself has become significant. The bare walls, being covered by newspaper, just like the refugee camp was covered by media and plastered the newspaper and then to not be spoken about, dying out after a period of time, the white paint I’d layer ontop is fading the newspaper away. Hopefully this turns out well! We’ll find out.
