ive been thinking about a slay the princess au. i wanted loop to be the witch. which also meant that loop had to be the thorn. and then i fixated on this so hard i finished it in three hours.

Sorry, I haven't made gifs in roughly 100 years.

First, really cute and I love the Rathbone-Bruce pair. Watson chiding Holmes like a child for reaching for his deerstalker, which we just saw him wearing in 39's The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes. Holmes realizes his mistake, and reaches for his fedora. It's a new era, it's a good joke!

Second, the script weaves something in from the opening titles, where we're assured that Sherlock Holmes is immortal and has turned himself to the problems of the modern day. It reads as a workmanlike explanation of the sudden change in setting - but this little touch suggests that Holmes and Watson are aware of it, too.

Did they awake in 221B like Arthur, in England's hour of need? The meta nod makes this first modern day adventure feel like waking up after a long sleep, with echoes of a pleasant dream.

people always hate on basil for stabbing sunnys eye out and being a “crybaby” but honestly if i was him i would’ve done the same thing because like . imagine your bestfriend who you hanged a body with comes out of his house after four years of avoiding everyone, resurfacing the old memories of the incident. meanwhile you’re getting bullied by your other old friend and her friendgroup on the daily and she steals your photo album thats filled with you’re last happy memories, you try to go to your friendgroups old hangout spot to calm yourself only for your old friend to have taken it over she ends up pushing you in a lake AND YOU ALMOST DROWN you go home and find out your grandma who raised you is fucking dead you come back from the hospital only for all your old friends to be acting like nothings wrong . and then your old bestfriend interrupts your panic attack and then proceeds to beat the shit out of you IN YOUR OWN HOUSE. i would genuinely never recover . AND THEN ONCE YOUR IN THE HOSPITAL COVERED IN BRUSIES HE SHOWS UP AND REVEALS YOUR DEEPEST SECRET TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS AND THEN JUST FUCKING LEAVES AGAIN ? (this is not sunny hate, i love sunny) like theirs no way his mental state improved at all once sunny left . instead of hating on basil we should give him a medal for holding it together that long
