Ich hab früher fast garkeine Hörspiele gehört und auch erst später mit Drei Fragezeichen angefangen 🤝

Aktuell höre ich ziemlich viele englische Fiction Podcasts (also Hörspiele 😁) und da gibt es soo eine große Auswahl! Es ist echt wie im Paradies gerade. Kommt also ein bisschen drauf an, was du so magst. Ein paar kann ich aber uneingeschränkt empfehlen:

Wolf 359 (SciFi Comedy auf einer Raumstation, get serious later)

Wooden Overcoats (Sitcom über zwei konkurrierende Bestattungsunternehmen, very british)

Life with Althaar (Sitcom über einen Menschen und ein eldritch horror alien, die zusammen auf einer Raumstation leben)

Was hört ihr eigentlich noch so für hörspiele? Bzw was habt ihr als Kinder gehört? Ich hab DDF erst mit so 19 an der Uni angefangen, aber meine Schwester und ich hatten einige Wendy-Kassetten (long live holger mahlich) und Asterix. Auf einem Flohmarkt hat mein Dad auch das WDR-Herr-der-Ringe Hörspiel aufgegabelt, das einfach das Beste vom Besten ist. Und eine Tom Turbo Kassette hatten wir auch, vor der hatte ich aber mega angst (das bellende Pony).

Jetzt habe ich auch ein bisschen Fünf Freunde, Point Whitmark und John Sinclair angefangen. Wie ist/war das bei euch so 👀

My Opinions about INCO podcast cast (I’m in S2)

Nova: she deserves better, she looks like she might kill you but is actually a cinnamon roll, she needs a nap, she’s a badass, she’s traumatized, she seems to love her work as much as she hates it, and yeah, she just needs a big vacation.

Hatov: he’s a clascist, selfish, ignorant, prince and I love him. He needs someone to tell him all his truths and at the same time hold him, he is a lady in peril (like the trope) and that’s okay. And he LOVES his brother but also doesn’t hesitated in using his name.

SAWA: she doesn’t get recognized enough for her work, she needs to cry, she won’t get update by my cold freaking corpse (edit: why :((((), i understand why Nova did what she did but SAWA didn’t deserve it.

JANE: I’m terrified of her. she looks like she can kill you and will. Also I love her (messed up) relationship with Nova.

Summary: Ava had wanted to start smoking.

“Ava?”   It was a slow night, they were on Earth in what looked like the middle of nowhere. Which meant there was a middle of nowhere gas station that had cigarettes. Ava had gone outside to sit in one of the parking lot’s dark corners, amplifying the temporary stillness the night produced.   “Gloria?” She parroted back, she flicked her cigarette and the ashes landed on her bare feet. Gloria ignored her and sat next to Ava on the large parking block.   “Why did you start smoking?”   “Does anyone really start smoking,” she waved her hand about leaving behind a smoke trail only seen by the distant lights shining from the diner “or does it just happen?”   “Well for you, yes, it’s one of the first things you ever said to me.”   “Mmm, you sure have some elephant brain up there.” Ava responded, knocking the side of Gloria’s head.   “And you sure are dodging the question.” Gloria said, she raised an eyebrow. Ava put her hand to her chest in mock offense. “I am wounded you would-ow?!” Gloria cut Ava off as she clambered over her. Ava’s dramatics had given Gloria enough time to steal a cigarette.     “Hey!” Ava yelled. Gloria stuck her tongue out and then put the cigarette in her mouth. She gave an expectant look. Ava sighed, leaning forward with her cigarette in her mouth she lit Gloria’s with hers. Now there were two dim ends of cigarettes that were only bright enough to illuminate their fingertips.   “Something wrong with your lighter?”  Gloria asked as she leaned back into her own space.   “It’s finicky as all hell.” Gloria hummed in understanding. A few minutes passed in silence before Ava groaned, sounding frustrated.     “What?” Gloria asked, bemused.   “Fine, you have forced my hand Gloria, but you are one of the only two people I would ever tell this to, so you better keep your mouth shut.” Gloria mimicked zipping her mouth shut, locking it, and then throwing away the key.   “I am sealed.” Ava rolled her eyes at it but nodded in satisfaction. Ava layed down with her bottom still on the parking curb and head on the concrete, she looked like a strange bridge for tiny people.    “I was giving myself an out.” Gloria tilted her head.    “An out?”    “Cigarettes are, no duh, not the best for your human body, but they’re also not as horrible for it as some alien shit we’ve seen.” Ava smushed her cigarette in the concrete next to her head.   “But these things” she pointed to the dimming cigarette without looking “are slower, if it did something to me it would be a while before it did.” Gloria remained quiet.     “I was, do not ever tell Caspar this, at my wits end with the diner, at that point I was messing around with everything else other than the diner.” She swung herself back up into a sitting position.   “But then you came and knocked over the radio.” Although Gloria couldn’t see it she could tell Ava had a sly grin on her face.   “Now I don’t need my out anymore,” she picked up the box and rattled it “but damn these things are good.” There was a heavy silence, then Gloria laughed. Her laughter sounded genuine but mostly hysterical. But it was enough to get Ava laughing too. Soon they were both struggling to get air and leaning on each other for support. They were wheezing and rocking back and forth. It was as if the cloudy sky opened up in response to the mirth between the two. The crescent moon was bright enough to show the tear stained face of Gloria. But Ava wouldn’t say anything about it, as long as Gloria didn’t say anything about her own glossy eyes.

I am currently going through my old podcasts to catch up after they fell by the wayside when I discovered new podcasts and had to catch up on those. It's a whole thing, so now I am part way through a lot of old podcasts and it's hard to keep track of.

I fell of the Shmanners wagon but I am catching up where I dropped off in 2019 (I am up to Jan 2021!)

I started Off Menu this year and have finally hit the 2021 episodes from their start in 2018.

I am still working through The Worst Idea of All Time, so 2014? they started and I have hit the episodes in mid 2016.

It's amazing to have these old episodes where they are mainly on topic but still mention past events or say things that Future Me is like OO about because it's always fun things about random plagues or politics and it's a weird moment when you realise with future knowledge what has come to pass.

SO glad you asked. sadly, many of the materials made for the arg have been taken down since the game ended 😔 (ex., the official OIAR, magnus institute, and bonzoland websites. (edit ii: I found partial wayback machine captures! see below) though @strangehauntsuk is still up!), so we're a bit low on primary sources, but in terms of learning about what happened:

for a starting point, I would really recommend this video by @pinkelotjeart

it's super accessible, it was made in real time as the game progressed and follows the solving and revelation of clues as they happened, it hits all the major points of the mystery and moments of community insanity while eliding some of the nitty gritty puzzle grinding, 10/10 would recommend.

here's the official summary put out by RQ, and I'd recommend reading through this once you've already gotten a basic handle on the flow of the story and the basic connections between major clues and events. it's got some fun behind-the-scenes info and lays out the thought process behind the puzzles in simple terms

here's the full masterdoc of all puzzles and resolutions put together in the statement remains discord server. masterdoc my absolute BELOVED, masterdoc my bethrothed, masterdoc my soul mate. I'd recommend this as a second port of call after the above video as it either contains all details about the puzzles or links to other expanded docs that do.

here's the narrative summary doc that lays out all the plot and lore discovered in three pages of plain prose. if you just want to get to the good bits as fast as you can and get blasted directly in the face by contextless lore bombs, this is the doc for you. if you don't want to start with the video, I'd say this is another good entry point.

once you've got the lay of the land, some of the game materials that I found particularly interesting include:

the in-universe east germany expat usenet forum, with all content translated into english. most of it is irrelevant space filler with occasional extremely sus lore, but I still found it fun to read through. love to soak in some fictional forum drama.

chdb.xlsx, the spreadsheet of the names of all the children the protocol 'verse magnus institute was studying/experimenting on. EDIT: here is a version of the sheet without any annotations and with all of the names in their original order, kudos to @theboombutton for catching that the commonly shared copy had the order swapped around.

klaus.xls, a (very corrupted) spreadsheet with what looks like the classifications of a bunch of old OIAR cases.

EDIT: have a few more saved materials from the game that I forgot to include.

an in-universe audio ad to apply to the OIAR that ran before archives episodes and kicked off the whole game.

once you start poking around in these documents, you'll find a bunch of links to others with further information, the materials I've included here just contain what I feel to be the most relevant details to getting a broad feel for the whole game. once again, huge shout out to the statement remains server, I was barely in there as the ARG was in progress and only ducked my head in every so often to find links like these. true mvps of the fandom.
