reading fire and blood and i need you to know at some point during his reign aegon was commissioning the stonemasons to build like 50 foot statues of aemond and daeron. like it’s batshit but it’s love

westeros is a different world from ours, huge statues of political figures is literally unheard of there. and statues are expensive; they take time, and men, and money, all of which are precious commodities in the midst of a war. as i've now discussed here, aegon ordered for these statues to be the biggest ever crafted. well over 50 feet tall, more like four hundred.

and aegon is out here, alone, diverting resources away from a literal war, going against cultural standards, all because he wants to remember his brothers. all because he loves them, and doesn't know what to do with that love once they're gone.

this is an alexander the great with hephaestion level of mourning; an achilles with patroclus level of grief. their love is the stuff of mythology. do you understand now why i am so feral about them????

I feel if I don't put this somewhere I'll combust. @bbygirl-aemond "stormbreak" got me thinking about baelon and alyssa targaryen 24/7, I swear, the brainworms I get from the slightest mentioning of these two are insane.

so there you have it, my overedited "you'll probably see those portraits hanging in the red keep somewhere" fancasts.

we'll start with baelon. his fancast is patrick gibson (shadow and bone version specifically) with slightly longer silver hair and purple eyes. I mainly picked him because of how much he resembles louis hofmann, "stormbreak" version of daeron. and because of his charm. and because I kinda see a little bit of viserys and daemon in him, of course.

and here's my alyssa! there are little hints that aemond looks a LOT like her in "stormbreak"-verse (long face, sharp features, overall appearance), so it's just a female version of ewan mitchell with mismatched eyes. I think she looks neat.

I feel like it would be jarring at first for Aemond to see a healthy (?) marriage considering he only grew up aside Alicent and Viserys. How would he react to a moment of vulnerability between the two of them? Perhaps daemon seeking comfort from Rhaenyra?

aemond, the first time daemyra have an argument in front of him and he sees healthy conflict resolution for the first time in his entire fucking life:

in all honesty, he'd probably do whatever he did when viserys and alicent fought and try to leave or hide until he thought they weren't angry anymore, out of fear that he'd get dragged into things. but he'd be very confused when they'd appear to be fully made up that same day because when anyone in his family argued they were always at odds for at least a week, often longer.
