Randomly thinking about the three (3) times in Eagle Strike when Yassen looked at someone like ‘to kill or not to kill... that is the question...’
He didn’t like Yassen. More than that; he was afraid of him. When the Russian had heard that Edward Pleasure had been injured, not killed, he had said nothing, but there had been something intense and ugly in his eyes. For a moment he had looked at Raoul, the deckhand. It had been Raoul who had actually placed the bomb ... too far from the journalist's room, as it turned out. The mistake was his. And Franco knew that Yassen had very nearly killed him there and then. Perhaps he still would. God - what a mess! (ES, pp. 43-44)
For a few seconds, Yassen Gregorovich was seriously tempted to kill Damian Cray. It would be very quick: a three-finger strike into the pale, flabby throat. (ES, p. 207)
“It’s not finished,” Yassen said. His voice hadn't changed, but there was an icy quality to it which might have warned Cray that once again he had come perilously close to a sudden and unexpected death. (ES, p. 231)
this man is constantly tempted to cause a workplace incident and he’s not even that subtle about it lmao
#yassen gregorovich#eagle strike#alex rider series#i love how he killed both a coworker and a client in stormbreaker too#an absolutely nightmare to work with#tho in fairness some of his bosses are capital E Evil so like he's probably not too bad in comparison#anyway the third is my favourite 🥰#and the 'intense and ugly' comment fascinates me because i rarely see yassen described like that in fic#but we also see him getting impatient with alex not answering his questions before the bull thing too

Chapter 44
Third POV
"She's stable."
Jeff swears his knees nearly gave out at the news, a relieving smile stretching his face. He makes a B-line to the door, but EJ stands in his way, holding his hand out to stop him. The killer raises a brow, trying to side step him.
"What the hell, EJ!? I want to see her- NOW!" he shouts.
"Jeff," EJ begins dryly. "There's a list of things you have to know before going in there."
He sighs, stepping away. "....What is it? What else is wrong with her?" He questions warily.
"We lost her... several times. It's a miracle she's breathing right now with brain activity. The reason why we struggled to keep her stable isn't just the amount of blood she lost - her body is malnourish."
"What do you mean? Get on with it!" Jeff huffs impatiently.
"She starved herself for about two weeks. Her body shows signs of extreme sexual abuse and...." he sighs, nervously rubbing the back of his neck. "The amount of cuts covering her body is overwhelming."
"....Cuts? They were caused by that fucker right?...RIGHT!?"
EJ shakes his head. "No... they're self harming scars. Covering her legs and arms. The starving is also all her. But the bruising is all him."
Jeff laughs, a laugh full of doubt. He can't wrap his mind around what's being told to him. "Eboni? My girl starving herself? She's a damn foodie! And she wouldn't cut herself! I made that her first...rule...shit-"
begins piecing everything together. He remembers all of Eboni's messages, a few mentioning that this guy, whoever he is, knows he exists. She never gave any clues on how he would know, but all signs point to Taylor. He looks at Luna and Iris, needing to confirm something.
"That blonde bimbo- you two still cool?"
Iris lowers her head in sadness while Luna shakes her head no. "I saw a vision of the friendship coming to an end, but the cause wasn't clear."
"Do you two know who raped Eboni at all?"
"A-Alex....Taylor talked a-about him a few times before everything that happened. She seemed on edge a-about how Eboni and Alex knew each other b-before she did." Iris sutters, playing with her fingers nervously.
"Why would she give a shit about that?"
Luna sighs, debating if this is a good idea or not. She still doesn't trust Jeff based on the vision she had when she first laid eyes on Eboni, but seeing how he's taken responsibility for his part in all of this- she speaks, "Alex and Eboni used to be foster siblings. Eboni would always protect him from their abusive mother, who would rape and molest Alex, sometimes making her watch while tied to a chair. Logically speaking, Eboni had no valid reason not to trust him at the party. He never gave the insight on hurting Eboni like he has."
This revelation sends Jeff's heart into a frenzy. At first, Jeff blamed Eboni's naivety on what happened- hating how trusting she was to begin with. But now, it makes sense why she didn't think twice about watching him make her drink. Alex was someone she knew she could trust based on their traumatic history.
"....but Taylor entertained all of it just to get me out of the picture. Am I right, witch?"
Luna nods, moving closer to Toby. "Yes. Taylor has always been manipulative. My sister would've fallen prey to her hands if I wasn't in the picture."
Hoodie nods his head, bringing Iris closer to his chest and lowers himself to whisper calming words into her ear. Toby moves to wrap an arm around Luna's shoulder, bringing her close as well. Jeff can't help but chuckle.
"So... she knew that asswipe drugged my girl but wanted me out of the picture that badly - she let it all slide? Is that what you're telling me?" He questions through clench teeth, feeling his rage boiling over.
Luna shares a look with Toby, who nods his head to answer. "Yes....Yes. Iris and I were there when their fight took place. I could see Taylor was lying through her teeth. Everything she has done to Eboni has been out of envy and wanting to control her."
"And you two... don't like her either, yeah?"
"I-I never favored her. D-Didn't really care at the time." Toby shrugs.
"She tried it with mine. I warned her once. She backed down quickly. I never liked her from the start." Brian said truthfully, still surprising Jeff with how much he's talking.
"Fuuuuck.....now I really wish I killed Masky." Jeff huffs, pitching the bridge of his nose.
"What would that solve anyways?" Liu questions, crossing his arms over his chest.
"Nothing. It won't change a damn thing, but that fucker would be dead and his trailer park hoe would be left alone.....to fucking suffer." He whispers, a eerie sense settling within the air. Jeff couldn't be more serious.
As the killer begins his walk away from the crowd, Liu quickly grabs him - anger lacing his face. "You're doing it again."
Jeff yanks away, "doing what!?" He shouts, itching to fight Masky again.
"You were just crying your damn eyes out over that girl, and now you're going to do the same shit that got you into this mess? Really, Jeff!? Thought you changed for a second there - I guess I was wrong." Liu sighs in disappointment.
Jeff tenses, clenching his fist as he lowers his head. He didn't even notice. He's just been given good news that Eboni will make it, but after hearing all of what EJ said, he can't control that white hot rage boiling again. He truly is a ticking time bomb... without Eboni around.
He sighs heavily, squating to the ground, and holds his head in shame. His mind is all over the place, and his heart is a complete mess. A tsunami of unknown emotions are storming throughout Jeff, and he doesn't fully understand how to control them. Liu lowers himself in front of his brother, wanting to help rationalize his thoughts and emotions.
"Just admit you love her already. It won't kill you, Jeff."
"It could get me and her killed." Jeff grumbles, stress showing in his expression.
Jeff doesn't deny that he loves Eboni. He just can't come to terms with it yet. Something in him just won't allow it. He wants nothing more than for Eboni to be ok and out of harm's way. He doesn't want to cause the poor girl anymore damage, but he also wants to bring the ones that aided in her suffering a world of hell - for his own gratification.
Luna steps away from Toby and moves to lower herself in front of Jeff. She stares at him, ocean blue eyes glowing brightly. The witch tilts her head, and new sets of visions flow in her mind in no particular order. These visions are full of smiles and a sick, twisted feel of happiness that matches both Eboni & Jeff. An idea pops into her mind, hoping this will bring a moment of clarity for the smiling killer.
"Would you like to see her memories?" Luna offers, shocking everyone.
Jeff raises his head, confused yet intrigued. "You....can do that?"
Luna smiles softly, raising to her feet. "Magic has no limitations. It may be an invasion of privacy, but I'm sure Eboni would rather it be you. I see that you're doubtful. You love her, but that guilt and burning rage won't allow you to accpet it. Maybe seeing that these feelings are mutual within her, your rage may die down. So... want to give it a try?"
"Hell yeah." He said without hesitation, standing to his feet and walking towards the door.
He places his hand on the doorknob, hesitant in opening it. He gulps, slowly pushing the door open. Nurse Ann is sitting at a desk, filling out paperwork while X virus is focusing on monitoring Eboni's vitals. Jeff's eyes land onto Eboni's limp body, the sight making his heart ache.
She has a breathing tube down her throat and a tube hooked into her stomach. He moves closer, the noises around him somehow fading out. EJ was right about everything - how could he doubt him? Just the sight of Eboni gives away that she lost a handful of pounds in just a short few weeks. He reaches to stroke her cheek, her skin ice cold - opposite from her normal warmth.
Luna moves to grab a chair, bringing it closer so Jeff can sit next to Eboni. "Just hold her hand, close your eyes, and relax."
He glances at Eboni as he reaches for her hand, interlocking their fingers together. He leans back into the seat, closing his eyes. Luna places her hands against both foreheads, the tips of her fingertips and eyes glowing brightly again. The witch hums softly, the killer beginning to fade into a dark empty void within his mind.
Jeff begins looking around the darken void, waiting for something to show. Slowly, video imagery of Eboni's life begins playing in front of him, from her birth to the events that lead to this moment. At the sight of Eboni's fierce eyes slowly dim, his heart begins cracking more and more.
Oddly enough, the killer now feels closer to her. The two really are similar in so many ways. He hated it at first, but now- watching her life play out before him, it opened his mind to different possibilities as to why he's been so drawn to her in the beginning.
After so many memories of Eboni's childhood, he's now witnessing the events of this month. He watches as Alex torments Eboni, beating, raping, and mocking her mercilessly. The mentions of himself did not go unnoticed either. Watching these memories brought rage, yes, but the sight of Eboni's cries and longing whispers for help crushed all trances of said rage.
If only he stayed. If only he protected her. If only he had listened. So many 'if only's - still, nothing Jeff could do now will revert what took place. He has to come to terms with it. He has to understand that fighting won't fix this. Violence won't heal Eboni.
Tenderness.
Gentleness.
Caring.
Understanding.
All things Jeff aren't, but will be. He'll force himself. His choke down the gag that'll raise at the feeling of these emotions. He'll stab himself if need be. He'll become whatever Eboni needs him to be, no matter how embarrassing or annoying he'll think it is. He will carry this out because Eboni has now become his priority. Eboni has become his world. And he'll be damned if something like this were to happen again because of him or anyone else.
Luna's spell ends, stepping away from the two with a sadden look in her eyes. Toby moves to her side, giving her a bottle of water. The witch thanks him, watching Jeff very closely. She hopes her idea aids in her visions coming to life and not altering in any way.
Jeff gently moves closer to Eboni, trying to climb into bed to lay next to her. EJ watches, not wanting Jeff to move Eboni to much thanks to the tubes inside her. The smiling killer leans towards her face, noticing how much her vitiligo has moved further onto her face as well as her legs and arms.
Fuck.....
Even in this state, she still looks so cute..
He can't deny his heart anymore. His mind is coming around. The once tsunami of emotions and raging thoughts has now calmed into a soothing current. Knowing Eboni is alive helped in that as well. Jeff gently showers her faces with kisses, wanting to see her honey brown eyes again. He misses them. Jeff misses her.
"Fuck...princess..I'm so sorry.." he whispers, yet everyone can hear.
Liu approaches them, a sly smile on his face. "She's a looker alright."
"I know.." he said quietly, eyes never leaving Eboni.
Liu looks at his brother then at Eboni. He chuckles bitterly, shaking his head. "Guess I should thank her when she makes up."
Jeff glares at his brother, wanting to shield Eboni from his sight - he's staring too much for his liking. "What for?"
"For giving my brother something I couldn't give."
"And that is?" Jeff questions impatiently, wanting to be alone with Eboni.
"Freedom, Jeff. Nothing more, nothing less." He smiles, feeling the odd obsession with his brother begin to fade after coming to terms with all that's taken place today. "I'll see you around." He waves, leaving the room and the mansion as well.
Jeff sighs, turning back to Eboni, and gently snuggles closer to her- wanting to warm her cold body back up. He blinks his eyes at everyone there, groaning in annoyance. "Alright, scram. Y'all get to see her now. Let me sleep."
Luna nods, wishing Jeff well as she leaves the room. Toby follows after her, giving Jeff a nod of acknowledgement - Hoodie doing the same while dragging Iris out. BEN grumbles, wishing to have seen more drama but leave nonetheless. X virus and nurse Ann stays while EJ gets much needed rest. It didn't bother him too much since he too is feeling exhaustion over take his body.
He gives Eboni a tender kiss to her forehead, allowing his eyelids to grow heavy and rest against the pillow lying next to her. He wishes to lay on her to hear her calming heartbeat, but being next to her will do. When calm, he breathes evenly, singling that the smiling killer has drifted off to sleep - knowing he'll never wake up the same ever again.

How many shots? x Daniel Ricciardo
Summary: You got along pretty good with Max since you started working at red bull and you also spoke dutch like him. He invited you to a club to party with some other drivers. A popular tiktok trend came up and you started playing. You didn’t expect Daniel Ricciardo to take the game seriously but he took his chance. Did you?
Warning: 18+, smut, ‘strong’ language, partying, alcohol
Part 2: the sober morning after
Part 3: australian date
Part 4: The naughty car ride home
2.4k words
“Have you seen this new trend going around on tiktok about us drivers?” asked Lando to Max and Alex.
“You know I’m not on tiktok!” Max said.
“Is it the one with the amount of shots?” you asked Lando.
“Yess!! You’ve seen it too?” Lando said.
“What’s the trend about?” Alex asked.
“Well, apparently. There are a lot of girls on tiktok that make these little video’s rating each driver, and even some team principals! And they say how many shots of alcohol they would need to sleep with us.” Lando explained and you nodded. The two other boys were laughing and couldn’t believe it. Max turned to you and playfully said: “So Y/N, let’s play. How many shots would you need to sleep wiiiitttth…” Max looked around the room for a moment thinking. “No Max, I’m not playing.” You pushed him against his shoulder. “George! How many shots would you need with George Russell?” he said with a smirk, ignoring what you just said. Lando and Alex already started laughing. They were waiting impatiently to see if you would answer. You rolled your eyes but decided to amuse them a bit. “Oh no. I would need a whole bottle for that!” you said. Lando couldn’t keep his laughter in, he almost started crying. “Oh auwtch, that one has got to hurt George!” Alex said.
You shook your head and rolled your eyes..These foolish boys. “Ok next one…” Max said. “No, I’m done playing, Max!”
“How about… Charles! How many shots for Charles?” Max continued. “No, take Carlos! What about Carlos?!” Lando yelled.
“Oh the Ferrari boys can get it!” you said. You had no idea why that came out so easily. You must have had one too many to drink. But you were having fun and you liked entertaining them. “Probably a shot for confidence. And an extra one for Charles because he is gorgeous! They would probably have to take some shots to fuck me!” you added. The boys all went down laughing.
After a minute they were finally back to normal. Max looked at you and raised an eyebrow. “What about Daniel? How many shots would you need for Daniel?” he asked a bit louder with a smirk on his face. That little shit. You once told him that you thought Daniel was attractive. He must have remembered that. You didn’t answer immediately so the boys got impatient. “Yeah, how about Daniel? He’s a bit older so you must need some more shots, right?” Lando asked. “No for Daniel, I’d need maybe 2 shots just for confidence.” you finally answered.
“I heard my name! What are you guys talking about?” you heard someone ask. Daniel suddenly stood next to you. You hadn’t even noticed he was standing behind you when you answered the question. Max, Lando and Alex started to laugh uncontrollably. Daniel was a bit confused and looked at you for an answer but you felt your face going red like a tomato. You bit your lips. Not in a sexy seductive way but more in a ‘shit what did I say?’ kind of way. Max could finally say something between his laughs. “We asked Y/N how many shots she would need to sleep with you. She said just 2 for confidence.” Max smiled devilishly at you. You started to think that Max knew Daniel was behind us and that he would hear us talking about him. Daniel looked at you with surprise. Before he could say anything, you defensively put your hands up and you yelled: “It was a game! Just a game!”
Daniel put his arm around you and pulled you closer. “You know that can be arranged, right?” Daniel said with his full smile. You looked up at him with your mouth open. You couldn’t believe what he said. Did he just suggest to actually sleep with him? Alex, Lando and Max couldn’t hold in their laughter. They were enjoying seeing you so embarrassed. Daniel let go of you and stepped away. “I’ll go get you those shots!” he said smirking and with a wink he stepped away. “It was a game!” you yelled hoping that would save your skin.
You were relieved Daniel didn’t actually come back with any drinks. But to plague you, Max did. Max came back with 4 shots and gave everyone a shot. “That’s the first one, Y/N.” he said jokingly, trying to provoke you. Lando took his shot and put it next to yours. “And that’s number 2, since I don’t drink that.” Lando said. You tried to look angry at the boys but they didn’t take it seriously. You took Lando’s shot and put it in front of Max. “1 shot I’m going to take, but 2? Forget it. You can drink it. You know what you did!” you accusingly said to Max.
–
You, Lando and Max were waiting outside for a taxi to bring you back to the hotel. A taxi arrived. Lando sat up front and you and Max went in the back of the taxi. Before you could close the door Daniel came running. “Is there still some room?” he asked. I was about to say no but Max was quicker. “Yeah sure! Come in! Y/N can sit in the middle.” he said. You shot Max an angry look but he could only smile back. With a sigh you sat in the middle and Daniel sat close next to you. Very close. During the drive they were all making jokes. Suddenly Daniel teasingly said: “So did you have your shots?” You started to blush again. You hadn’t looked at him yet because you were still so embarrassed and he was sitting so close to you. “No, she only had 1. We tried to give her 2 but she didn’t take it.” Lando said. You were relieved he answered for you.
The taxi stopped at the hotel and you all went inside to the elevator. Max and Lando got out on the first floor. Your room was on the third floor, Daniel’s was on the fourth. “You two behave, okay?” Lando said jokingly to you and Daniel as he got out the elevator. The doors closed again and you suddenly got very nervous being alone with Daniel. You had been alone with Daniel before of course but this was different. He had never been so flirtatious with you and his suggestion earlier to actually sleep with him, made your heart flutter. Daniel came closer and put his arm around your waist. He didn’t say a word but just looked you in the eyes. You looked at his eyes and then to his lips. Your breath started to quicken from the tension. You looked back up at his eyes and muttered: “I…” Before you could say anything else he kissed you. It was so sweet. His lips were so soft. So.. tasty. The door opened on your floor and you broke off the kiss. Daniel kept looking at you and whispered: “My room’s on the fourth floor. Do you need another shot or…?” He looked at the open elevator door. You swallowed, thinking of what to do next. Were you going to leave him in the elevator and step outside? Or were you going to follow him to his room? Would it really happen? Did he joke about sleeping together or was he being real? You looked at the elevator door closing and you looked back up at him. “I guess… I guess I’m going to need another shot.” you said, taking your chance. He smiled and kissed you again. Deeper this time, more passionate.
The door opened again and he took your hand, slightly tugging at it, waiting for you to follow. You followed him and he led you to his room. In his room he went to the mini fridge and took out a tiny bottle of vodka and two glasses. There weren’t any shot glasses so he took regular glasses and filled the bottom of it. He gave one to you. “That’s one big shot!” you said to him. He smirked and downed his drink. You did the same and you were right. It was a big shot. He put his glass down and came closer to you. You put your glass up in the air and said: “I’m going to need the second one as well.” He smiled. “But you already had a shot at the club, didn’t you?” he asked, confused. “Yes, but that one was too long ago, it has lost its effects. I’m still going to need a second shot for courage.”
He poured you another shot and went to sit on the bed. He teased: “I’m ready when you are.” You quickly downed your drink and put it down. You walked over to him, pulled up your dress slightly and straddled him. He looked a bit surprised that you would be this forward. You put your arms around his neck and said with a smirk: “I told you I was going to need the shots for confidence.” You pushed yourself against his torso and kissed him passionately. He put his hands on your thighs and slipped them under your dress to grab your ass. You both started to breathe faster with some moans in between. He broke off the kiss and looked at you. He took a small pause. “If at any moment you don’t want this, we can stop.” He said softly. You looked at him a bit confused. “You haven’t said no yet but you also haven’t said yes to this.” he continued. You were surprised he was this sweet about it. You didn’t think he would care about what you wanted. But you were sure you wanted this. He waited for a response. You nodded and said “Yes” before you bit your lip. This time, it was meant as a seductive lip bite. He smiled and his eyes lit up. He pulled you closer with one hand slipping up to your lower back underneath your dress. He kissed you deeply again and you quickly followed his rhythm.
He unzipped your dress and pulled it over your head. He took a moment to take you all in. You were waiting impatiently for his next move. He pulled one of your bra straps down over your shoulder and started to kiss your neck. Slowly he went down to your collarbone and then to your breast. Kissing one breast and cupping the other one. You started to tug at his shirt trying to take it off. He stopped briefly so you could pull his shirt off. Then he pulled you close and started to kiss your lips again. Skin to skin. It felt so intimate. He started to undo your bra while your hand went down to his pants and started to undo it. You put your hand over his hard member and he let out a deep moan. He grabbed your hips and you started to rock your hips on top of his member. “Enough.” he said with a moan. You looked at him surprised. He lifted you up and laid you down with your back on the bed. He took off your panties and pulled your hips closer to his face. He started to lick your clit. First slowly and tenderly but he quickly upped his tempo and made it more intense for you. He slid one of his fingers inside of you and started stroking your g-spot. Your legs started to shake. You grabbed the sheets with one hand and put your other hand in his curly hair. He looked up for a moment. “Don’t stop, please” you moaned. He continued and quickly you could feel it building up inside you. You felt yourself come and pulled Daniel’s hair to make him stop. He looked up at you, enjoying the sight of your O-face and trying to catch your breath. He pulled his pants down and laid on top of you. “You look even more beautiful naked, Y/N. I didn’t think you could get any more beautiful.” he whispered. You looked at him and you teased: “You also look better between my legs, Daniel.” That made him smirk. He placed his hard member between your legs, ready to enter. He looked at you and asked softly: “You ready?” You nodded and before you could say something else, he started to slide his member slowly inside of you until he was fully inside. His strokes got faster and harder. You hadn’t been able to catch your breath yet and you were already breathing heavily again. Daniel really started to moan now. “Fuck… You feel so good, Y/N… Too good.” he moaned. He filled you up so good. You arched your back, trying to press yourself closer to his body. He quickened his stroke and his breathing got erratic. With a loud deep moan he had come deep inside you. He held his head against your breast trying to catch his breath. “You okay?” he asked softly between his breaths. “Fantastic.” you said. He looked up at you and smiled. He laid next to you, both of you still trying to catch your breath. You were in total ecstasy. Before you knew it and before you could do anything about it, you fell asleep.
–
You woke up in the morning. You felt soft kisses on your shoulder and neck. Daniel lay behind you, spooning you. He felt your breath getting faster. “Good morning, Y/N.” he said softly with his deep morning voice. You turned over a bit and he kissed you on your lips. Not passionate and hard like the night before but sweet and tender.
There was a sudden knock on the door. Daniel looked surprised and you looked terrified. You didn’t want anyone to know you were there and what you had done. Daniel got up and quickly put some boxers and a shirt on. He looked through the whole in the door and opened it. “What’s up, Max?” he said. Max looked inside and saw your clothes on the floor. “I was looking for Y/N, wondering where she was. I had a feeling she might be here.” Max said with a laugh. “Fuck you, Max!” you yelled at him. “You’re welcome!” he yelled back.

cute vets, pets, and boys
Pairing: Quackity x reader
Pronouns: Gender neutral
Description: Tiger needs to go to vets. Over there, his owner meets a cute veterinary assistant (yes, I mean you)
Notes: Doctor Anderson is the name of an actual doctor I shadowed I couldn’t think of anything else okay, leave me alone.
His knee bounced up and down impatiently. The place was unusually packed today.
Tiger sat in his basket, loafed and with his eyes closed. Quackity’s heart ached for the small cat, the poor animal had stopped his regular eating habits. When he filled his bowl, it was only half finished, which was abnormal, since Tiger was usually finished within 10 minutes, and then meowed for some more.
He glanced at the clock, sighing after calculating that he had been been waiting for almost a whole hour, until a vaguely familiar man walked into the room with a clipboard. He was a middle aged man, grey hair and and stubble. He wore giant glasses with black frames. It was only when Quackity’s eyes landed on the name tag pinned to the pocket of his white lab coat, did he realise this was their regular vet.
“Alex!” He called out, looking up from his clipboard and locking eyes with him
Tiger hadn’t been to vet in ages, and when he did, it was usually his mom who took him, so to see him so enthusiastic, or even remember his name, startled him quite a bit.
He stood up, clutching the handle of the cat basket and lifting it off the floor.
“Doctor Anderson?” He tried to play it off as if he wasn’t reading his badge to remember his name.
“How have you been?” The doctor asked him.
“I’ve been good, busy, but good,”
“How are you? How is your mom?”
Quackity tried to be polite, answering all the questions he had. But in reality, he didn’t care about catching up with his vet, especially after waiting an hour of waiting just to even be spoken to while his cat sat miserably in his basket. It had entirely ruined his mood. He just wanted to know what was wrong with his cat.
He was relieved when Doctor Anderson finally ushered him into the room.
The doctor walked in with another man, he looked young. This man was going to be the final patient you assist before finally finishing the veterinary experience course. You took a deep breath and approached them both.

The other guy looked you, not in a weird way, but just to curious to who you were. You offered him a kind smile, and when you started to think wasnt going to, he returned it. Doctor Anderson watched the interaction from across the room.
“This is [Y/N],” he introduced, putting a gentle hand behind your back. “They’ve been shadowing me for the last 2 months, today is their final day,”
Quackity nodded, glancing towards you again, but less soft. Your smile dropped. You started to assume he wasn’t in a good mood today, especially since he probably had a sick animal with you. So, you resorted to standing in the corner of the room, just to observe.
“So then, how can I help you?” The doctor asked him
“I don’t know,” You watched him as he distressedly pushed his hair away, alongside fiddling and adjusting his beanie anxiously. “Tiger just hasn’t been eating lately and it’s been worrying me,”
Doctor Anderson opened up the basket and took out a small tabby cat who you now knew was named ‘Tiger’. Your heart awed at the cat, you loved cats. I mean, you loved animals in general, which was the reason you wanted to help them.
You watched as he started to check the cat, feeling his fur and his body for any irregularities. His face was fully focused, eyebrows furrowing. You could tell the owner was nervous since he was rubbing the seam of his shirt aggressively between his finger and thumb.
“Has Tiger ever-“
The door suddenly swung open with a loud creak. All your heads snapped towards the entrance, another doctor stood there, her face a little sweaty and she was huffing, completely out of breath
“Doctor- we need you please, it’s urgent,” She stated.
The doctor looked at you, and then looked at the cat, and then looked back at you. You felt yourself freeze in fear. You knew what he was asking, and you frantically shook your head, pleading with your eyes that he didn’t leave you alone.
“You’ll be fine,” he whispered, before taking off and dashing out the room,‘following the tinder woman. He accidentally slammed the door a little hard that the noise startled Tiger. He let out a small and scared meow.
You pursed your lips, looking down sympathetically at the cat. You then looked at his owner, he was giving you a blank, expressionless stare, his brown eyes told you he was a mixture of tired, irritated but concerned. You wondered how long he’d been waiting.
Quackity was nervous around pretty people, he was far from confident. After the way you smiled at him, he felt himself heat up. He’d be lying he if he said he didn’t find you cute.
If you weren’t in such a formal environment, he’d be initiating some sort of casual conversation with you to start things going, if he even knew how to. But now, especially since he had a sick cat with him, wasn’t the ideal situation. Your voice interrupted his train of thoughts.
“So,” you gnawed at your lip nervously. “He’s lost his appetite?
Quackity nodded slowly.
You hummed, observing her on the table. He was a cute little cat, his eyes were glossy and wide. You felt a pain in your chest at the poor thing. You had never been left alone with a patient before, so you were anxious to say the least.
“Has this ever happened before?” You asked
He shook his head. “Uh- no. No it hasn’t.”
You stroked her, he immediately nuzzled into your palm. You and him both locked eyes at the adorable moment.
“He’s cute,” You stated.
“Yeah,” he chuckled. “He is.”
He picked up a mental note of your interaction with him. It was uncommon that Tiger relaxed at someone’s touch so easily, usually he would do that at-least within a week of knowing or playing with them. He was also quite aggressive, living up to his name.
“You don’t need to worry, you know, I’m sure he’s fine, the worst it could be is like- kidney disease or something,”
His eyes widened
“Not that it is!” You took back, wishing you could swallow your words back up again. “I didn’t mean it like that, I was just saying that he could-“
He raised an eyebrow at you, this time out of confusion of your rambling.
“I’ll stop talking now.” You muttered to yourself
You felt ridiculous, being so nervous. You couldn’t tell if it was from the pressure, or the fact he had a strong gaze on you.
“I’m going to check his teeth, if that’s okay?” You asked
Quackity stepped back abit from the table. “Yeah, yeah, of course, do whatever you need,”
You patted her head before positioning her so you could look at her mouth. You gently held her head and used your fingers carefully to pull her jaw open. It all looked pretty normal, until your eye fixated on one of her canines that were looking black at the root.
You sighed, observing it a little longer. You smiled, thankful that you found the problem. It was funny to you how this guy hadn’t even thought to check her mouth before-hand.
“Well, we’ve found the problem,” you said. Quackity stepped closer and watched to where you finger was pointing. “Just a bad tooth, it most likely hurts when he eats,”
You smiled at him reassuringly and he relaxed. His Tiger was going to be just fine
“So now what?” Quackity asked you, petting Tiger. He quietly purred
You ran your tongue at the seam of your lips. “I don’t know, I guess. I don’t think if it’s legally permissible for me to diagnose anything or 8 anything- I think,” you spoke awkwardly. “It’s better to just wait for the doctor to come back,”
He nodded again. The silence in the room was making it a little uncomfortable for the both of you, the only thing making it less... weird, was the cute little cat laying on the table.
“So, how long have you been shadowing him again?”
You bit the inside of your cheek, he was clearly just trying to make conversation with you to diffuse the awkwardness.
“For two months,” you answered. “Today is actually my last day.”
“Seriously?”
“Yeah, kind of disappointed actually, this experience has been quite nice. Now it’s back to textbooks and PowerPoint presentations, it’s like being stuck back in high school”
“I get that. Law school is just case after case and it can get boring sometimes,”
“Law school? Holy crap,” you said, before throwing a hand over your mouth, remembering he was still just a patient. “Sorry, excuse the language,”
He giggled nervously. “Don’t worry about about it,”
Conversation with him from then on was easy. It flowed quite smoothly, from talking about about school to other general things.
He liked the way you listened, Quackity knew that he waffled on about certain subjects a whole lot. But you seemed to actually be interested, your face lighting up every time. You found it sweet the way he talked so passionately about things, for a stranger, you were pretty intrigued.
You enjoyed his company for the next 30 minutes, still waiting for Doctor Anderson to come back after rushing out of the door. To be fair, It was nice to have conversation during the day that wasn’t with a fifty five year old man for once.
“But we have restaurants here like Chipotle, or Taco bell!” You exclaimed, now sitting beside him on one of the blue chairs.
“They’ve never been as good as the ones I’ve had in Mexico,” he told you.
“Well then I guess-“
Again. The noisy door swung open. Both your heads simultaneously turning towards it. The doctor walked back into the room, his hair was a little ruffled and messy. He came in as if he was looking for a certain something, and then his eyes landed on you.
“[Y/N]? What are you still doing here?” He questioned, looking at his watch. “It’s past four o’clock,”
You took out your phone from your back pocket. Damn, time really flew by and you didn’t even realise.
“We were just talking about Tiger, he’s got a bad tooth,” you said
The doctor smiled at you. “Good work, [Y/N]!” He said, pride overtaking his voice. “But it’s really time for you to go home. You can pack up your things now and relax! You’re finally finished!”
“Oh-,” you said, feeling the slightest bit disappointed as you looked at Quackity. “Thank you,”
You stood up and hesitantly slipped off the spare white lab coat, folding it up and placing it in on a nearby counter.
You looked at Quackity again, his eyes were almost saying ‘sorry’ for you having to leave.
Quackity watched you leave the room. His mood dropping straight away. He knew he wasn’t going to speak to you again after this.
The doctor started talking to him again, giving him advice for Tiger and how they would deal with the problem. However, the unfortunate problem was, his attention was focused on you. You know sometimes you talk to someone once and then for the rest of the year you constantly think about that interaction? Yeah, that’s how he was feeling. He had no idea why you had suddenly invaded all his thoughts.
Too bad you’d left without so much of a goodbye.
If only he built up the courage and asked for your number.

She Does The Woods
Alex Turner x reader
Summary: You and a buzzed Alex go for a walk and a picnic in the woods and you can't resist how good he looks.
warnings: smut, oral sex (m! receiving), typical cliché couple things
word count: 2.8k
-Once again, Thea wrote this.
A/n: this song is literally the best song off the album. Argue with the wall if you disagree. Also, I'm working on the requests, so please be patient, I'm trying to do all of them. (And thank you, Thea.)
✿✼:*゚:༅。.。༅:*・゚゚・⭑ ✿✼:*゚:༅。.。༅:*・゚゚・⭑
You reached up on the shelf of the small storage closet , getting the picnic blanket down from the very top, putting it in the basket. Alex had promised you that he would take you on a picnic this weekend. You impatiently waited the whole week for this day, wondering where Alex was taking you on the picnic.
You heard the door open and heard Alex's footsteps as he padded down the hallway, looking for you, eager to see the outfit you chose to wear. He hadn't seen you since this morning when you both woke up and had spent the entire morning in bed, making you feel so good like he always did. You'd asked him to go get some fruit from the store while you finished the rest of the food you were going to eat on the picnic.
"Baby, where are you!" he shouted from across the hallway.
"In the kitchen, Al!" you yelled back. He walked into the kitchen, finding and watching you finish putting everything away. He walked over to the kitchen island where you were at, handing you the fruit he had bought for the picnic.
You thanked him and put it away along with everything else in the basket. Alex walked behind you, wrapping his strong arms around your waist, pushing your hair away and kissing up your neck.
"Al, stop," you laughed, pushing him away.
"What if we don't go on the picnic and just stay here?" he asked, continuing his kisses up your neck. "No, Al. You promised me that you would take me on this picnic and I've been looking forward to it all week, so we're going on it," you replied, turning around, grabbing the bandana around his neck and capturing his lips in a soft kiss.
He sighed and moved away, going to the family room. You finished packing everything up and went to the family room, sneaking up behind Alex, wrapping your arms around his neck.
"Are you ready to leave, my love?" you asked, kissing his cheek. He stood up, turning around and kissed you. "Yeah, princess. You go get the basket and I'll start the car," he replied, walking to the door and grabbing the keys.
You went to the kitchen and grabbed the basket, also grabbing your polaroid camera from the bedroom, though you didn't think that you would need it at all, and walked out the door after locking it.
You saw Alex in the car, fiddling with the radio, trying to figure out how to connect the Bluetooth on his phone to the car radio. You got in and laughed at him, amused at his small amount of knowledge on technology even though he had many references of it on his latest album.
"What're you laughing at?" he asked, clearly still frustrated with the Bluetooth on his phone.
"Nothing, I just find it hilarious that you have a very extensive vocabulary and are a talented songwriter, but you can't understand how to use technology, though your album has quite a few references to it," you laughed.
He playfully pouted and then went back to his phone to figure out how to connect his phone to the car. You laughed again and he glared at you.
"Do you need some help, my love?" you asked. Alex nodded and accepted the fact that he couldn't figure it out and handed you the phone.
You quickly explained to him how to do it and connected it to the radio. You then turned on something from The Beatles; Alex started to pull out of the driveway. You and Alex started singing along, him more than you and you watched the concentration on his face as he drove and as he sang, his angelic voice ringing in your ears and you didn't mind.
The car came to a stop light and Alex turned to you. "I want to hold your hand," he sang, taking your hand in his. You laughed and sang along with him, though you weren't nearly as good as a singer as Alex, your voice couldn't compare to his in any way possible.
The red light had turned green and Alex began driving on the road again, hand still holding yours as he continued to sing the rotor the song. You watched his facial features in the light that was hitting him through the window. You focused on his lips mainly, watching them move as he sang, remembering how they felt on your own, moving against yours in sync, just like the way he sang the song - in sync.
"Alex," you said, dragging out each syllable of his name. He looked at you then back at the road. "Yeah, princess?" he said.
"Where are we going?" you asked. He turned right and began to slow the car. "It's a surprise," he smiled, taking a few more turns.
"Please, I want to know, Al," you said, leaning over to kiss his cheek then his neck, lightly sucking on his neck just below his ear, hoping that somehow he would give in to you ad would answer your question.
"As much as you kiss me, I still won't tell you until we get there," he said. You stopped sucking on his neck, and sat back in your seat, playfully pouting.
"Now, look, just because I won't tell you doesn't mean that you have to stop kissing me," he said slyly, grabbing your hand and bringing it to his lips, placing a kiss to it.
"No, you won't tell me. No answer, no kiss," you laughed. Alex dramatically gasped and laughed. The rest of the drive was fairly typical and cliché, Alex singing his heart out, reaching over and kissing you whenever there was a red light.
You certainly didn't mind it being cliché if it meant that he kissed you, though you did wish that he would tell you were he was bringing you. It was only ten minutes before he pulled the car to a parking lot and parked the car, pulling the keys out of the ignition.
You opened the car door and stepped out, looking around. He had brought you to a dirt trail for hiking - in the woods.
"Really, Alex, the woods?" you asked. He got out of the car himself, and shut the door, opening the back door to get out the picnic basket.
"What?" Alex asked, walking around to the other side, grabbing you by the waist.
"First of all, you're literally wearing a black leather jacket, black trousers, and a button up ... and boots, it's way to hot for that. And plus, the drinks will get all hot," you said, gesturing to his attire and the picnic basket.
"It'll be fine, princess," he said, moving his hand to the small of your back, leading you onto the trail. He held onto you, knowing that it was way too hot, but still wanting to be close to you, always wanting to touch you.
He stopped when you both reached a secluded part of the trail that no one else was on, and to be honest, looked like no one really ever used it anymore.
"Okay, this is really giving me the 'I'm taking you out to the woods in a secluded area to kill you' vibes, Al," you joked, Alex letting go of you, you turning to look around the spot.
"You're right, me love, I am going to murder you," Alex laughed, grabbing you from behind, placing kisses on your neck, sucking on a spot. You laughed and pushed him away. "Alex!"
"Hey, come 'ere," he said, turning you around, kissing you deeply, shocking you. Your arms snaked around his neck, his hands traveling down your waist to your ass. He pulled you closer to him, your front now pressed up against his chest, biting your bottom lip teasingly, demanding entrance.
"Alex, we-we can't, not here," you said breathlessly, the breath you had now gone from the steamy kiss you and Alex just shared.
"Why not?" he asked, confused about why you wouldn't want him, even though you did and he knew that.
"Because, Alex, I'm not shagging you in the woods. Besides, someone could walk past us and see what we're doing," you answered, adding in the last part to try and explain to him why you couldn't even though you wanted to, but not as much as Alex wanted to.
He didn't seem to take that response to well, instantly kissing to hopefully persuade you into doing it. You felt him hard through his pants, and as much as you were afraid of getting caught, you had to admit that the thrill of it would be kind of fun and you moved your hand to palm him through his jeans.
Alex groaned into your mouth, breaking the kiss to suck on your neck to keep him quiet. You backed him up against a tree and suck down onto your knees, undoing his belt and jeans, pulling down his underwear just far enough for you to pull out his cock, slowly stroking him, placing a few light kisses to his tip, watching him as his head fell back against the tree.
He groaned in response before you took all of him into your mouth, his hands coming down on the back of your head, gripping your hair. He felt heavy on your tongue and flattened it so that he could fit better in your mouth. You started to bob your head up and down on his length, enjoying the small, quiet moans Alex was letting out.
You hollowed your cheeks, Alex pushing your further onto him, the head of his cock hitting the back of your throat causing you to choke a little, but nevertheless, you continued. "Yesss, princess," Alex hissed, gripping your hair even tighter than before, moving you up and down on his length at a rate of his liking.
You looked up at him through your eyelashes, watching his face scrunch up in pleasure as you continued to bob your head, your tongue swirling his tip, hollowing your cheeks again.
You could tell that he was close when he started to buck his hips into your mouth, his cock hitting the back of your throat continuously as he bucked his hips. You swallowed around him and hollowed your cheeks once again, sending him over the edge. His hips stilled as his cock twitched inside your mouth and you felt his release hit the back of your throat, swallowing it.
He pulled you off of his cock by your hair, helping you stand up, holding onto you and he tugged up his underwear and trousers, fixing his belt as well. "Happy?" you joked, kissing his cheek.
"Very," he said, pecking your mouth. You laughed briefly. "Funny. We haven't even been here an hour and I've already sucked you off. And I've already got dirt on my pants," you said, gesturing to the dirt on your knees through the rip in your pants, getting the picnic blanket out of the basket and laying it on the ground, placing the picnic basket on it.
You sat down and Alex sat across from you, digging into the basket to see what you packed, picking the container that held the strawberries, getting one out, holding it to your mouth. You opened your mouth and took a bite out of it, Alex pulling it away from you and put it on the container lid.
"Let's see, what else did you pack in 'ere?" he said to himself, digging around in the basket more.
"There should be a peanut butter and jelly sandwich in there for you," you said, helping him find it. He thanked you and took it out of the container that it was in, taking a bite, managing to get some jelly on his fingers.
Alex laughed and put the sandwich down, licking his fingers clean of the jelly. You couldn't help but let your mind wander, thinking of very dirty things that Alex would no doubt think of. Imagine what he could do with those fingers, was all that was going through your mind, so much so that you didn't even realize that you were starring straight at him.
"Can I help you, princess?" he asked, noticing how much you were starring at him, specifically his arms and fingers. You tried to come up with an answer but you couldn't form any words at all, turning into a stuttering mess.
"Who's having the dirty thoughts now, eh?" he laughed, taking off his sunglasses. "Come 'ere, princess."
You hesitantly moved over to beside him, his arms wrapping around you, pulling you into his lap. "Tell me, love, if I touch you, will you be wet?" he teased, unbuttoning your jeans, pushing his fingers in them to play with the waistband of your panties that were slowly but surely dampening.
"Y-yes," you whimpered, voice trialing off into a moan when his fingers brushed against your clothed clit. He lightly chuckled before moving the cloth of your panties to the side, his fingers teasing your folds.
You buried your head into Alex's neck to try and hide the indescribable amount of pleasure that he was giving you. "No, look at me," Alex drawled, pulling you up by your hair. You looked up at him, starring into his big, brown doe eyes.
"Do you need me, love? Because I need you," he said. You quickly attached your lips to his, letting his tongue slip past them, exploring your mouth. You hesitantly pulled away, moving to shuffle out of your jeans, Alex undoing his belt and pants, pulling them down, along with his underwear, just far enough for his cock to spring free.
You sat back down in his lap, sitting up on your knees to move your panties aside, positioning Alex's cock at your entrance, Alex's hands going to your hips to keep you there. He pulled you down slightly; you whimpered when you felt the tip of his cock poking inside of you, hands gripping his shoulders.
"Alex, please, I need you," you said, knowing how much he enjoyed hearing you beg and whimper for him, desperate for his cock to fill you up so good.
He smirked, pulling you all the way down on him, throwing his head back, a soft moan falling from your lips. Once you were fully adjusted to his size, you pushed him down to be laid on his back. His hands were still on your hips, watching you as you began to slowly move. You sat up on your knees, his cock almost slipping out of you. His hands held you in place on him, his cocky smirk plastered all over his gorgeous face. Even though you were on top, he still had all of teh control.
Without warning, he let go of your hips, letting you slip all the way back down on him, his hands going back on your hips, helping you move on him and you moaned loudly. You slowly began to roll your hips on him, the pace gradually increasing. Soon you started to bounce up and down on him; Alex started to thrust up into you in sync with your own movements, driving you closer and closer to your high that you were now chasing.
His thrusting into you slowly began to get faster and faster, and you couldn't keep up with them. One of Alex's hands found your clit, rubbing small circles on it, driving you closer to your orgasm. You threw your head back and felt Alex's free hand travel under your shirt, massaging your breasts through your bra.
"God, love, you f-feel so good," Alex moaned, clearly just as close as you.
"Alex, I-I'm so close," you whimpered, Alex thrusting into you faster, bouncing you on his cock. "Cum for me, love," he said, thrusting up into you one final time, flicking your clit, sending you over the edge, your walls contracting around him, triggering his own release. He held you down on him and you felt his cock twitch, his release spurting inside of you. You collapsed on top of him.
You were both panting, sweat pooling on Alex's head. "I love you so much, princess," he said, kissing the top of your head.
"I love you too," you replied, struggling to stand up, sighing at the emptiness that was left when you lifted up off of him. "Oh, shit," you laughed, feeling his release run out of you, sure to stain your underwear, quickly putting on your jeans.
Alex pulled up his pants and underwear as well, doing his belt back up. "So, should we finish our picnic now?" he said, eating another strawberry, you sitting back down, digging into the basket, looking for something to eat yourself; you nodded to Alex.

Alex Quackity x Reader, Oneshot, Requested by: @anotherdreamsimp !!
Word Count: 3328
Warnings: Some curse words, mainly just some fluff !
Summary: Quackity hasn't been streaming recently, and decides to come back with a cooking stream. Featuring you as a special guest.
Lately, Quackity had been studying like crazy for his final exams. That meant no streaming. He'd take a break from it to focus entirely on his studies. Absolutely nothing else.
He claimed to have his priorities straight, and had the goal to pass all exams with high scores in order to keep his grades looking wonderful.
This also meant there was rarely any time spent between you two, beside the occasional snack breaks you forced him to take so he wouldn't die at his desk.
It was tough not being able to show him a random video you'd found on the timeline, or walking up to chat with him whenever you wanted, but you knew this was very important to him. So you gladly supported him and offered as much support as possible.
Thankfully, all of his studying paid off and he passed with flying colors. A teacher had even informed him that he'd received the top score for one of his final exams.
You were the first person to hear the news, and you couldn't help but feel the adoration coursing through your body at how excited he was to tell you. Jumping up and down and shaking you lightly as he told you about his scores.
You'd offered to take him out for a celebratory meal, to treat him for all his hard work and also since you missed the fun outings with him. There was no way he was saying no to that.
—
After a day out and about, you two had made your way back home. Both of you were pleasantly full, having enjoyed the meal and also dessert. His request, for "doing so well on his finals." How could you possibly deny him that?
You both were also very content, a warmth and comfort surrounding the air around you two the entirety of the outing.
One thing that was impossible not to notice was how he'd become exceptionally clingy as soon as you two were out of the car. Gripping onto your hand tightly as you singlehandedly unlocked the front door.
"I've missed you so much these past few days." He murmered as you finally got the door to open and pulled him inside.
"I've missed you too." You hummed softly. It was always nice hearing him say these things. You locked the front door, and gently pulled at his hand to lead him back to your room.
It didn't take much of a pull for him to willingly follow you. "Can we cuddle or something?" He asked softly, almost as if he was a bit embarrassed to ask. You turned to him and gave him a grin, along with a small nod.
You'd missed him, even if you two had been in the same apartment this whole time. You'd especially been missing cuddles with him, considering he studied pretty much all day. There wasn't enough time being shared together so you gladly agreed to some cuddling.
Sooner than later, you two found yourselves in your pajamas, laying in bed peacefully as you scrolled through tiktok, screen tilted in order for him to see as well. It really was so nice finally being able to be this close to him again.
After some time, you found yourself looking through tweets on the timeline. A certain one caught his attention and he asked you to stop scrolling.
It was a tweet from a fan, saying they missed Quackity since he hadn't streamed in two weeks, but that overall they hoped his tests were going fine.
"Has it really been 2 weeks?" He asked aloud as he clicked on it and looked through the replies, all agreeing with the original tweet.
"Mm.. two and a half, I think." You answered, looking at him curiously as a guilty expression appeared on his face.
"Hey." You called out once you saw the expression wasn't leaving. He turned to you with a small frown.
"It's fine. You had a good reason for being gone so long. I'm sure they understand. Plus, you'll be back soon, right?" You asked, to which he nodded before sitting up from the cuddling position you two were in.
You sat up as well, noticing how his eyes widened slightly, and a small smile made its way onto his face.
"I just got a great idea." He exclaimed. "Y'know, I was going to just spend the next few days with you since I missed you but– how about we stream something together? That way I can enjoy both, and the fans get a stream too."
You stared at him in surprise. The fans did know he was dating someone, but you rarely ever came out on streams, not because he didn't want you to but because you didn't deem it to be necessary.
The few times you had been on, you'd received tons of love and support from the chat, so you didn't think anything too bad would happen if you were to appear on his stream again.
"What did you have in mind?" You asked curiously. The other times you'd been on were him playing horror games and an extremely scuffed IRL stream.
"Well.. I haven't done a cooking stream in a while." He began, but you quickly shook your head.
"Oh no. Don't tell me you're going to make us eat some monstrosity‐ like your past cooking streams." You visibly shuddered at the thought. You remember having to help clean up the mess after. And no matter how funny it had been, the actual cleanup was awful.
"No no– I was thinking maybe we do a serious one, y'know? Chat hasn't really been able to see my cooking abilities, and well.. I'd say I am pretty good at it." He grinned. He was unfortunately right.
You relaxed at the mention of it being a 'serious' cooking stream. It could never really be too serious when it came to Quackity, but it meant not eating dog food or poorly made pizza. You were in.
"So we'll make an actual.. edible.. meal?" You questioned again, just to be sure. To which he nodded.
"Yeah, and we can enjoy that meal after. Like a date. What do you say?" He was beaming. It was his creativity rolling in. And he was probably so proud of himself for finding a way to spend time with you yet also give chat the stream content they'd been missing out on.
"Alright. I'm in."
You hadn't seen him this eager to get out of bed and head to the grocery store ever before. Chat was really in for a fun stream tomorrow.
—
He'd tweeted it out several hours before you two planned on starting the stream that he'd be streaming today with a special guest, and that he had his chef hat ready to go.
As you scrolled through Twitter you could see the timeline freaking out over 'COOKING STREAM' and 'SPECIAL GUEST'. Lots of discussion over who it was.
You couldn't help but feel a bit bad since the fans were probably speculating that he'd met up with his online friends, but in reality it was just you. In that case, you'd try your best to make this a fun stream, and your presence an enjoyable one.
As the time for the stream to start got closer, you helped him set the ingredients you'd be using onto the table, in a way where it was in perfect view for the stream to see and follow along if they wished.
"We're supposed to start in 5." You called out as he slipped his beanie on, fixing the few hair strands that were sticking out a bit too much.
He smiled and made his way over to you, cupping your face and giving you a small kiss. "I'm so excited to do some cooking with you. They're all going to love you."
You couldn't help the warm feeling that spread over your chest at his words. It was like introducing you all over again. He'd recently gained a lot of new followers, and that meant they probably had no idea who you were. Always fun going through that again.
He dealt with some last minute editing and placing, checking all ingredients were there and that everything was set, before hitting the 'Go Live' button.
It didn't take long for the viewers to increase after the tweet notification went out, and the starting soon screen was the only thing really protecting you two from the roaring chat.
Everyone was dying to know what was going on, who the special guest was, and whether this would be yet another scuffed cooking stream.
You stood behind the camera as the starting soon screen finally disappeared and he began greeting the viewers, thanking all the subs coming in, and eventually also giving them a little update on how he'd done on his exams.
You felt so proud as you watched him boast about how his studying had paid off, and how he talked about being the happiest he'd been in a while. He deserved all of it. And chat thought so too.
After some rambling about his test scores and what they'd be cooking today, chat finally became too impatient and asked for a reveal of the special guest.
"Fine. Fine. Since you guys are so fucking impatient." He huffed, watching as chat flew by, telling him to 'get on with it' and to 'TELL US WHO IT IS'. You couldn't help but laugh at the relationship he had with his chat. Always bullying each other but usually knowing when to stop and send love.
"I've actually had them on multiple other streams, not so much recently.. but they've been on my horror streams.. some IRL streams.. and they are really really special to me, chat!" He said with a big smile. Some of chat was confused as to who he was referring to, while older fans began to question if it was YOU. They were very smart.
"Some of the viewers might not know of them, so this is like I'm introducing them to chat all over again! Come over here." He finally directed the last part at you. You couldn't help but feel the sudden spike in anxiety, but chose to ignore it as you smiled back at him and headed into the frame beside him.
With a small wave and a greeting, you watched as chat completely broke. A mess of question marks and your name being spread in chat. You couldn't help but laugh. It was an overwhelmingly positive reaction as Quackity explained to new viewers that you were his partner, and that older fans were already aware of this for a while now.
The amount of 'y/n our beloved' and people asking if quackity's partner was single were abundant in chat, and you couldn't help but feel stupid for thinking the newer viewers would hate you or something.
Having the approval of Quackity's chat also made you feel lighter, it made it easier to let go and just enjoy the cooking stream.
You two began to explain what you'd be cooking to chat, and you made it very clear that he actually had to try and cook this time, to which chat agreed wholeheartedly.
He'd taken a recipe from his mom for one of his favorite meals, one he hadn't had in a while. He explained to chat that he wanted to see how well you and him could recreate it until you two took a trip to visit his family.
"Hopefully we don't disappoint her too much." You mumbled as he placed the chef hat onto your head, fixing it so you looked presentable.
"She can't be because we're actually gonna try." He stated before beginning to explain to chat what the meal was since many of them might not have even heard of it before. As he did that, you began to set aside the ingredients you wouldn't be needing until later.
After everything had been explained, it was time to get cooking. His concentration to try and recreate his mom's recipe was adorable, and chat agreed on that too.
This stream wasn't loud and messy like the others, but it was still enjoyable in its own way. Quackity was radiating such wonderful light and energy, cracking jokes and genuinely enjoying himself. It was all thanks to the stress and worries being lifted off his back. You really enjoyed seeing him like this.
Chat was able to follow along later if they wanted with how organized you guys were being, but the banter he had with you and chat made it entertaining to any casual viewer. He always found a way to make it fun.
Not only that, but chat was able to see a new side of him. The Chef Q side. More often than not, a message would roll in saying they were amazed by how good Quackity actually was at cooking. You could already imagine some of the edits that'd come out of the stream.
His mom had told you two beforehand how long it would normally take to cook this meal, and it was perfect for a usual stream and some extras where you two would actually get to try the food.
There was moments where chat was warning you two that the food would burn or that he'd accidentally set the kitchen on fire, but overall you were enjoying yourself so much.
And chat was enjoying your presence too!
By the time you two managed to finish the meal, you both plopped down onto the chairs he'd set for the supposed 'breaks'.
He had some of the sauce on his cheek and his apron, but still managed to look good. He'd also smeared sauce onto your cheek, and at this point some strands were sticking out of your hat in such a messy way since the last few minutes had been rather hectic, food almost burning and all.
"Chat. We did it." He called out before cheering loudly and clapping his hands, to which you swiftly followed along, chat beginning to cheer as well.
"I think its only right that we try what we made, don't you think?" You ask, to which chat quickly types YES in all caps, wanting to see the finished product and also find out if it even tastes good.
Quackity let out a chuckle as he smiled over at you. "Not gonna lie, I'm a little nervous. We haven't even seen it so it might just be black. Burnt to a crisp. Or what if it tastes like shit? Y/N i don't know what I'm going to do if the food tastes like shit. Thats what we're supposed to eat on our date." He whined a bit.
You shook your head, "It'll be great. And if not, we can just order takeout. It'll be fine big q." You smiled reassuringly. Chat became a frenzy of calling him cute for the state he was in, declaring their love for how supportive and kind you were, and melting over your relationship.
Before you knew it, you were both revealing the meal to chat, and pleasantly surprised by the results. The presentation of the meal itself looked really good. It looked like what you'd expect from such a plate. Quackity had even gone as far as saying it looked similar to how his mom made it.
You gasped, smiling in surprise at him. "Really? Did we really do that good of a job." His face turned into one of regret, and a long segment of silence engulfed you two before he nodded hesitantly. You both broke out into a fit of laughter.
"Okay okay, seriously. Chat's waiting for you to try it." You placed a fork in front of him, earning a loud scoff from him.
"They want to see you try it as well." He mirrored your actions and you gladly took the fork.
"Alright. First bite. Let's see if all our hard work paid off! Chat, are you ready?" You grinned and watched as the 'YES's started rolling in, some viewers telling you both to get the fuck on with it, and others gushing about how the food actually looked good. You could only hope.
You watched as he began to dig in, mouth full and chewing slowly, truly trying to savor the first bite. You did the same, and the stream was silent for the first time in a while. Chat was in suspense as well, question marks and incoherent rambling rolling through the chat.
"Chat..." he finally spoke after swallowing his bite. "Chat. It's." He paused before showing a small smile. "It's not bad at all. I like it. It's good."
You nodded your head in agreement, "It's nowhere near as good as the ones your mom makes.. but I think you and I make a pretty good team."
"I think so too. And not just for cooking." He grinned, earning himself a playful eye roll and shy smile from you.
The stream proceeded to you two feeding each other bites of the meal, asking each other if it was good, and just enjoying yourselves for a bit longer before Quackity deemed it was time to end.
"Chat !! Thank you so much for tuning in and watching this.. actually coordinated cooking stream. I had so much fun and well, I ate yummy food. I'm happy." He laughed, thanking a few more gifters before doing his signature Bye, and ending stream.
He hurried over to your side, pulling you into a hug. "Thank you so much. I truly had fun. And they definitely loved you, but not nearly as much as I do."
You chuckled at his words, giving him a small kiss before cupping his face. "I had a lot of fun too. Thank you for always being so nice to me." You paused, observing how cute he looked with his chef hat still on. "I think I like Chef Alex." You reached over and fixed his hat a bit.
"Yeah? Should I keep it on?" He teased, coming a bit closer. You couldn't help the warmth that spread over your cheeks at how blunt he was.
"Yes, but you need to help me clean this up. Maybe after we finish the food, hm? C'mon. Don't think I forgot our deal."
He whined, already feeling too lazy, but he quickly followed after you as you two sat down to actually eat. Still wearing the silly attire he'd bought for the stream, far too unbothered to change just yet.
Through a mouthful he asked, "Cuddles and a nap after we're done?"
You smiled and nodded, to which he gave a silent cheer. That was enough motivation to get you both up and cleaning after finishing the meal.
—
Wrapped in each other's arms again. He couldn't seem to get enough of it. You were once again scrolling through Twitter, this time scrolling through his indirects, wanting to see what people were saying about the stream.
He'd ask you to stop to read certain ones he found funny, and even 'aww'd at the ones he found cute, mainly those talking about how cute you two looked.
Surely enough, there was already edits using the clips of him cooking, and you'd openly admitted to him that he looked "so fucking good." To which he responded by cuddling closer, if even humanly possible.
Quackity found the numerous clips of you two feeding each other to be the best part of the tweets. You two rewatched, saved, liked as many as you could before he became tired.
And with that, he was pulling you close, and leaving small kisses anywhere he could on your face. Eventually, his chest slowly rose and fell as he entered a deep slumber. You smiled, glad to see he was finally getting the rest he deserved.
"Goodnight, Alex." You whispered, leaving a small kiss on his cheek before closing your eyes as well.

We’ll Let the Flame Burn Once Again - a 3x07 Coda
My take on 3x08, with 100% more bed sharing, love confessions, and blow jobs than I’m sure canon will give us tomorrow.
Also on AO3!
***
Alex is halfway through the file on the Lockhart Machine when his phone buzzes in his pocket. Michael’s name flashes across the screen like an accusation when he digs it out of his coat.
“Fuck,” Alex sighs. He’d been so preoccupied with being kidnapped and faced with a life-changing career dilemma he’d completely forgotten that he’d never returned Michael’s voicemail or given anyone an update on the Kyle situation.
“Hey, I’m sorry I didn’t call you back, I—” Alex starts when he answers the phone, but Michael cuts him off.
“Are you home?” Michael asks sharply. He sounds panicked and out of breath, like he’s just been running for his life.
“Uh, no,” Alex answers. “Why, what’s wrong?”
The laugh Michael lets out is strangled and more than a little hysterical. “Better question would be what isn’t, but I’ll give you the cliff notes: Jones took over Max’s body and now he’s trying to kill us.”
“What?” Alex asks, sitting up straighter in his seat.
“Oh, and he’s also my fucking dad apparently,” Michael continues.
“What?” Alex says again. If that’s true, Alex has a few questions about where the hell those curls came from. “Seriously?”
“Yeah,” Michael says bitterly before he adds, all in a rush, “Look, I don’t know what he’s planning, but if he’s trying to get to me it’s only a matter of time before he goes after you and something tells me I won’t be able to build a bomb to get you back this time. You need to get somewhere safe, somewhere he won’t be able to find you.”
Is there anyone in this town who doesn’t know about our history? Alex wonders.
He looks around at the wooden beams of the abandoned barn-turned hospital room he’s currently stuck in as he replies, “Don’t worry about me. I don’t think he’ll be able to find my location.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yeah,” Alex assures him. If he knows Ramos half as well as he thinks he does, he’s pretty sure this building wouldn’t even show up on a map. “Where are you going to go?”
“No fucking idea,” Michael says. “My place isn’t safe and neither is Isobel’s so maybe we’ll just find a motel for the night or something until—“
“No, don’t do that,” Alex interrupts. “He’ll probably be expecting that and with Max’s face he’ll have access to police resources. If he’s motivated enough, he’ll track you down by the end of the night.”
Michael lets out a loud sigh before he says, mostly to himself, “Fuck Max for being a fucking cop,” frustration heavy in his tone. “You got any other ideas then?”
Alex considers that for a moment before he remembers the cabin Jim left him. It’s not a top secret military bunker, but it’s remote and about as secure as they can hope for right now.
“I do, actually,” Alex says at last. “Where are you right now?”
“The hospital,” Michael answers. “Maria’s fine, Liz and I just checked on her.”
“Okay good,” he says. “He probably won’t attack you if you’re in a public place so just stay there and wait for my call, okay? There’s something I need to take care of and then I’m all yours.”
Alex cringes at his own wording, but Michael doesn’t seem to notice.
“Okay,” he says. “Just—hurry?”
“I will,” Alex promises. “Stay safe.”
“You too,” Michael replies, and then the line goes dead.
Alex turns back to his phone screen and pulls up his contacts. He hesitates for a minute, asking himself if what he’s about to do is really the right choice.
But then he thinks of Michael and how much easier it would be to protect him with access to all of the resources and intel Deep Sky has to offer. If Jones is even half the threat he seems, Alex has a feeling he’s going to need all the help he can get.
Alex makes the call. It rings twice before he gets an answer.
“Have you made up your mind then?” Ramos asks, foregoing a greeting entirely.
“I’m in,” Alex says, projecting confidence he doesn’t quite feel. “Now do you think I can get a ride back to my car? I’ve got somewhere to be.”
Thirty minutes later, Alex leaves Kyle in Ramos’ care and hits the road. He’s careful not to speed too much—the last thing he needs is to get pulled over right now—but he’s definitely pushing it.
Alex had called Michael back while he waited impatiently for Ramos and gave him instructions on how to get to the cabin—an indirect route with minimal traffic cameras along the way. Looking at the clock on his dashboard, Alex guesses Michael will probably have already let himself in by now.
Sure enough, Michael’s pick-up truck and Isobel’s SUV are already parked outside by the time Alex pulls into the dirt path he calls a driveway. When he opens the front door, he sees a small crowd of people in his living room, all wearing various expressions of exhaustion and defeat.
Rosa has her boots propped up on the coffee table next to Michael’s hat where she sits in the armchair in the corner, her eyes trained on Liz who looks to be wearing a hole in the carpet with all of the pacing she’s doing. Michael is sitting with Isobel on the couch, her head resting heavily on his shoulder and her arms drawn tight across her chest.
They all look up at him as he steps over the threshold, but Michael’s the first to react, his back straightening against the couch the moment he lays eyes on him.
“Alex,” he says, little louder than a whisper. Alex feels the sudden desire to pull him into his arms.
“Sorry I’m late,” Alex says, closing the door behind him. “It’s a long story, but I found Kyle.”
“You found Kyle?” Liz asks, her eyes wide as she takes a step closer to him. “Where is he?”
“With his uncle,” he answers.
“His what?” Rosa asks at the same time Liz says, “Kyle doesn’t have an uncle.”
“Yeah, we’ve got a lot to talk about,” Alex says.
This time of night, Alex figures they could all use a pick-me-up, so he heads to the kitchen and gestures for them to follow.
While he gets the ancient coffee pot going, he can hear the sound of chairs scraping against the floor behind him as they all find a seat at the table in the middle of the room. There’s an empty seat next to Michael when he goes to sit, so he takes it, figuring it’ll be easier to stay focused on the task at hand if he doesn’t have to look directly at him.
As he sits down, he catches Michael’s eyes shifting toward the dusty bottle of whiskey on top of the fridge, but he surprises him when he doesn’t ask for it. Alex isn’t sure if that’s for Rosa’s benefit or his own, but either way he can’t help but feel a little proud of him.
They talk for what must be hours, starting with Kyle and Alex’s involvement with Deep Sky and ending with the shit show that went down with Jones tonight. It’s a lot to process, for all of them, but they do manage to come up with a plan for tomorrow.
Michael is understandably suspicious of Deep Sky, but after Alex relays what he learned about the Lockhart Machine’s origins in Caulfield, he wants to get his hands on it. The idea of working so close to him makes Alex nervous for more reasons than one, but Michael’s right—he needs his help if he’s going to make any meaningful progress before the other shoe drops with Jones and pretending otherwise is going to get someone killed.
Liz, for her part, is eager to dive into the science to see if there’s anything she can do to help Kyle, so Alex will take her to the barn in the morning before he and Michael tackle the Lockhart Machine.
With no leads on where Jones took Max’s body, Isobel and Rosa decide to check on Maria and see if there’s any progress they can make on freeing her from the hold Jones has on her mind.
It’s as solid a plan as they’re capable of making with what they’ve got, so the moment Michael yawns behind the grimy bandana on his hand Alex is ready to call it a night.
“Alright, I think that’s enough for tonight,” Alex says. He pushes back from the table and starts collecting coffee mugs to put in the sink as he continues, “There’s a guest bedroom down the hall and an extra bed in the secret bunker under the coffee table in the living room for people to crash in.”
“The what under the what?” Liz asks, bewildered.
“Alex Manes, do you have a sex dungeon in your basement?” Isobel asks, sounding intrigued and a little impressed before she grimaces suddenly and turns to Michael. “Ew, wait, did you know about this?”
Alex resolutely does not look at Michael as he sighs, “It’s not a sex dungeon.”
He considers telling them about the room’s true intended purpose, but decides against it—there’s been enough revelations about distant fathers for one evening.
“It’s just an extra bedroom,” he continues, before turning to Liz and Rosa. “The bed down there is big enough for two people to fit in if you guys don’t mind sharing. The bed in the guest room’s just a twin, so it’d be a tighter squeeze.”
“Yeah, whatever,” Rosa shrugs, eyes on Liz as she continues, “As long as you don’t steal the covers.”
“Oh come on, that was one time when I was seven,” Liz protests, crossing her arms over her chest.
Isobel interrupts their sibling banter to say, “Dibs on the guest room then. Sorry, Michael, you’re on the couch tonight.”
Michael shrugs like he expected that, but Alex stops him with a hand on his arm as he goes to walk toward the living room.
“No, take my bed,” he says. Michael’s eyes drop down to where Alex’s hand has caught his forearm and Alex lets him go. “I’m sleeping on the couch.”
“What?” Michael asks, cocking his head so his curls fall into his eyes. “No, I’ll take the couch. Sleep in your own bed.”
“Michael, I’m not letting you sleep on the couch after the day you’ve had,” Alex argues. “You need a good night’s sleep in an actual bed.”
“And you don’t?” Michael counters. “Besides, if you sleep on that lumpy-ass couch you’re definitely going to fuck up your leg and I think we can both agree that that would be kind of a problem if Jones catches up to us.”
Alex sighs and tries to stare him down, willing him to let him do this for him, but Michael just keeps defiantly meeting his gaze.
“Oh my god, would you two shut up and just share the bed if the couch sucks that much?” Isobel asks and they both turn to look at her in shock. “It’s not like it would be the first time,” she adds under her breath.
Alex shares another look with Michael and waits a moment for him to react, to give any sign he wouldn’t be okay with that.
All he does is shrug and say, “I’m game if you are.”
If he’s honest, Alex has no fucking idea how he’s supposed to get any sleep lying next to Michael all night—his stomach is already in knots just thinking about it—but he nods his head anyway.
“Alright,” Alex agrees. “It’s just down the hall that way, I’ll show you. Does anyone need anything to sleep in? I’ve got some spare pajamas.”
There’s a chorus of yes’s all around, so Alex heads down the hall toward his bedroom to grab some clothes with Michael not far behind him.
“Looks, uh—nice in here,” Michael comments awkwardly as they step inside the bedroom, and Alex can’t help but laugh.
“You don’t have to lie,” he says as he starts digging through the dresser for some old t-shirts and sweatpants, glad for once that he never got around to cutting down the right pant leg on them. “Besides the new sheets, this is all Jim Valenti’s old stuff.”
“The clothes too?” Michael grimaces.
“Oh, no, these are mine,” he says as he hands Michael a bundle of clothes. “Bathroom’s through that door there if you want to shower. There should be an extra toothbrush and towels under the sink.”
Michael nods, and then scoffs when he sees the Air Force logo on the t-shirt Alex hands him. Alex rolls his eyes at him as he heads back out into the living room to distribute clothes to the rest of his guests.
It takes some time getting everyone settled—the sheets on the other beds need to be changed and Liz and Rosa have some questions about the giant hole in the wall in the basement—but soon enough, Alex heads back to the master bedroom. When he gets there, he sees Michael standing by the far side of the bed, water weighing down his curls and a pair of Alex’s sweatpants hanging low on his hips. He isn’t wearing a shirt either, the Air Force tee Alex gave him sitting on the comforter on Alex’s side of the bed.
Alex isn’t sure if this is an act of protest against the United States Armed Forces or if Michael is simply trying to drive him insane, but either way, Alex scoops up the t-shirt on his way to the ensuite bathroom along with the emergency crutches he keeps here and another pair of sweats for himself.
He goes through his nightly routine without issue, grateful that he’d gotten around to buying a shower chair for the cabin so he can actually wash the last few days off his skin.
He’s expecting Michael to be asleep when he gets back, but instead he finds him sitting crosslegged in bed with the lights still on, his elbows on his knees and his head cradled in his hands. Alex’s heart aches at the sight.
“Hey,” he says softly as he makes his way over to the bed.
Michael looks up at him, an inscrutable look on his face, and waits for him to speak.
“I’m not going to ask you if you’re okay because there’s nothing about today that has been okay,” Alex tells him, “but I’m here if you want to talk.”
A small smile tugs at Michael’s lips. “Thanks,” he says.
When he doesn’t say anything else, Alex gets into bed with him, resting his crutches in the narrow space between the bed and the nightstand. Michael gets the lights with his powers, plunging the room into darkness, and Alex lies down on his back while his eyes adjust, too aware of Michael shifting in bed beside him to really let himself relax enough to sleep.
It’s a few moments later when Michael lets out a huff that sounds a little like a laugh.
“What?” Alex asks, turning to look at him. He can just see the curve of Michael’s nose in the moonlight bleeding through the curtains.
“Nothing, I just—“ Michael starts before he sighs again, eyes fixed on the ceiling. “It’s a little ridiculous that this time last year we were dealing with your homicidal father and now we’re dealing with mine. The more things change the more they stay the same, I guess.”
Michael says it like it’s funny, but Alex feels a twinge in his chest at the thought of Michael going through what he went through last year. Feeling unsafe around your parent is a special kind of pain, one Alex knows intimately, and it’s the last thing he would have ever wanted for Michael. He’s been through enough.
On impulse, Alex reaches across the bed for Michael’s hand. It takes some searching, but eventually he finds it resting on top of the comforter between them. He half expects Michael to pull away from him, but he threads their fingers together instead. Michael’s palm is warm against his own, his grip secure, and Alex feels his eyes begin to burn as something inside his chest settles at the touch.
He swallows down the emotion in his throat as he tells him, “We’re gonna figure this out.”
“You don’t know that,” Michael says, scarcely louder than a whisper.
“Yeah, I do,” Alex insists. “Jones may have crazy alien powers we can’t comprehend, but we have the Lockhart Machine. If it was your mother who built it, it could hold the key to taking him down.”
At the mention of his mother, Michael goes quiet again, and Alex watches his chest rise and fall with the deep breath he takes.
“You really think she built it?” Michael asks at last, hesitation in his tone.
Alex gets it—this machine, if it works like the radios the Valentis had, could have alien glass with his mother’s voice inside. It makes sense that Michael doesn’t want to get his hopes up and invite the crushing disappointment he’ll feel if it doesn’t.
Alex squeezes his hand reassuringly as he answers, “I think if there’s anyone who can find out for sure, it’s you.”
Michael is silent for another long moment, so long that Alex thinks he’s done with the conversation, before he finally asks, “Why are you being so nice to me?”
“What do you mean?” Alex asks, taken aback by the question.
Michael shifts onto his side to look at him directly. “Yesterday you didn’t want me anywhere near what you were doing and now you’re holding my hand and telling me it’s all gonna be okay if we work together,” Michael says, lifting their joined hands off the bed for emphasis. “What’s changed?”
Alex’s throat clicks as he swallows, something like shame weighing down the pit of his stomach. He hadn’t meant to make Michael feel like he didn’t want him around or that he wasn’t useful.
“I’m sorry,” Alex apologizes. “I was just scared.”
“Of what?” Michael presses.
“Of what Deep Sky would do if they found out about you,” he answers. “I knew if you kept investigating the bats, you would find Deep Sky sooner or later and I was terrified that for all their talk about changing narratives and building bridges between humans and aliens that they wouldn’t be any different than my father if they actually met one.”
“Well, you could have told me that,” Michael says after a moment, his voice softer than the accusatory tone Alex is anticipating. “I would have understood.”
“But would you have let it go if you knew you were onto something?” Alex asks.
“Not a chance in hell,” Michael admits, something like a smile playing at his lips.
Alex sighs heavily, expecting the answer but no less happy at being proven right.
“But being cagey and lying to me about what you knew didn’t make me want to let it go either,” Michael continues.
“I know,” Alex says. “I just thought—If I didn’t try to protect you and just let you walk into something like that and you got hurt, I… I would never forgive myself.”
Alex feels Michael’s thumb caress the back of his hand and closes his eyes at the sensation, letting it wash over him and remind him that Michael is here, that he’s safe—that he hasn’t failed him yet.
“Well, it was for nothing anyway,” Alex sighs as his eyes drift open once more. “Turns out you’re the whole reason they wanted to hire me in the first place, so—“
“Wait, what?” Michael asks, raising his head off his pillow to look at him better, and Alex curses his own sleep deprivation for letting him admit that so easily. “I thought they scouted you because of your dad.”
He swallows audibly before he answers, “That’s part of it too.”
“But not all of it,” Michael says, not a question but a confirmation. “What, did they think they could get an alien on their side if they played the long game with you?”
“Probably, yeah,” Alex says, hoping that’ll satisfy him.
Michael must sense that Alex is holding something back, though, because he releases his hand and sits up on the bed next to him. “Alex, what aren’t you saying?”
Alex sighs and pushes himself up against the headboard so he and Michael are on the same level. He pulls his left leg in toward his chest protectively while Michael looks at him, his eyes intense and expectant.
Alex finds the words eventually. “Ramos wanted me to join Deep Sky because he thinks I view life differently than other people.”
“Because you already know aliens exist?” Michael guesses, his head quirked to the side.
God, is he really gonna make me say it? Alex thinks, his stomach dropping at the thought.
But then he takes in Michael’s earnest confusion, how far away the fact that Alex still loves him must be from his mind that he still doesn’t get it, and realizes they can’t keep doing this to each other—talking in riddles and euphemisms because it’s easier than being honest. That’s not who Alex wants to be anymore, and it’s certainly not what Michael deserves.
“Alex?” Michael prompts him, his voice dipping with concern, and Alex thinks, Fuck it.
He’s already made a few major confessions tonight—what’s one more?
“Because I’m in love with one,” Alex admits at last, his heart thundering behind his ribs as he braces for Michael’s reply.
There’s a beat where Michael does nothing but stare at him blankly, the words taking a moment to register in his ears, before he asks, eyes almost comically wide, “You’re in love with me?”
Alex laughs humorlessly, his eyes beginning to burn again as he answers, “Of course I am.”
“But I thought—you and Nazi guy—?“ Michael starts.
“Are over,” Alex finishes for him. “Forrest was nice and fun to hang out with, but he’s not you. He’ll never be you.”
A second and a year pass in the excruciating moment Michael takes to process that statement. It makes him feel raw and impossibly exposed, like Michael is holding his beating heart in his hands and Alex is begging him not to break it, but the next thing Alex knows Michael is pushing into his space and capturing his lips in a harsh and desperate kiss.
Alex’s heart nearly bursts with relief, his leg dropping back down to the mattress. He reaches up to cup both of Michael’s cheeks to keep him close, his days-old stubble a pleasant scratch against his palms.
Michael breathes a contented sigh against his mouth as he tilts his head for a better angle and tries to deepen the kiss, his tongue flicking out against Alex’s bottom lip. Alex opens for him without a moment’s hesitation and as soon as Michael licks into his mouth, Michael’s tongue sliding across his own, Alex feels like he’s been set on fire, the desire he’s been suppressing for over a year now flaring hot and inexorable inside of him.
Alex wants with an intensity that almost scares him, his cock stirring against his thigh already and Michael’s barely even touched him. The feeling amplifies when Michael throws his leg over Alex’s hips and settles heavily over his lap, the solid weight and warmth of him pulling a moan from Alex’s throat.
Michael swallows the sound eagerly as he snakes his arms behind his neck, his hips shifting restlessly over Alex’s lap as he kisses him. Alex drops his hands from Michael’s face to wrap around his waist instead, pulling him closer until they’re nearly chest to chest.
One of them has to break the kiss eventually, and as Alex gasps for air with his head tipped back against the headboard, he can see Michael looking down at him with adoration in his eyes. He takes Alex’s face in his hands and laughs, a soft, wet sound, before he kisses him soundly once more.
“I love you so much,” he murmurs against his lips, and Alex’s grip tightens as he feels those words brush against his skin and settle in his heart.
Alex leans that little bit forward to kiss him again, slow and languid this time as the heat continues to simmer between them. Michael peels Alex’s shirt over his head and begins to rock gently against him, his ass rubbing back and forth over Alex’s growing erection with every movement of his hips.
He can tell that Michael’s getting hard too, can feel the heat of his cock through his borrowed sweatpants. Alex removes his hand from Michael’s waist and slides it lower until he feels Michael’s happy trail peeking out above his waistband.
He strokes his thumb over the hair there, teasing the skin at the edge of the fabric without ever dipping beneath it. Michael squirms against him with a soft, plaintive whimper when he does that, so Alex gives him what he wants, lets his hand slip lower so he can rub his palm over the hard line of Michael’s cock, relishing the way Michael moans softly into his mouth as his hips twitching closer on instinct.
“Are we really doing this right now?” Alex pulls away to ask, his thumb rubbing a slow circle around the head of Michael’s dick through the soft fabric.
“Are you saying you want to stop?” Michael asks him, tipping forward until their foreheads meet.
“No,” he answers.
“Then yeah,” Michael breathes, reaching down between them to cover Alex’s hand with his own. “I think we’re doing this.”
“In that case,” Alex says, “I want you in my mouth.”
“God, yeah,” Michael whispers, his cock jumping beneath Alex’s hand at the thought.
Alex gives him a hard kiss before he pulls back to say, “On your back.”
Michael climbs off of Alex’s lap without another word. He rolls over onto his back next to him, his thighs falling open to give Alex room to work with.
Alex slips between them easily and moves in to kiss him again, once on the lips before he begins pressing soft, open-mouthed kisses down his chin. He lingers at his neck, sucking a bruise into the spot underneath his jaw that he knows drives Michael fucking crazy.
Michael rewards him with a choked-off moan, his legs spreading wider around his hips. Alex wishes he had the time—and supplies—to ruin him properly, work him open with his tongue and fingers until he’s a keening, whimpering mess before he fucks him like he deserves. For now, though, his mouth will have to do.
Alex can feel Michael’s pulse jackrabbit against his lips as he continues down the column of his throat, Michael’s hands burying themselves in his hair. He dips his tongue into the hollow of his collarbone before he slips further down his chest, cupping Michael’s pecs in his hands and squeezing just enough to get a reaction from him before his mouth latches on to one of his nipples.
He scrapes his teeth against the bud before soothing the hurt with his tongue and Michael’s breath catches in his throat again. He’s always been so sensitive, so responsive to Alex’s touch, and Alex can’t get enough of it.
When he’s teased both of his nipples to hard buds, Alex starts to move lower still, leaving a trail of hot, wet kisses down the length of his belly until he stops right above the waistband of his pajamas.
“Alex,” Michael moans as Alex sucks another bruise into his skin, his fingers tightening their grip on his hair. “Please.”
Alex gives one final kiss to the sharp angle of Michael’s hip bone before he sits up to pull his pants off. He drops them off the side of the bed carelessly before he settles between Michael’s legs once more, running his palms along the soft skin of his inner thighs and enjoying the way the muscle jumps beneath his fingertips.
Michael’s cock leaks against his belly, flushed and wet at the tip. Alex wastes no more time getting his mouth on him, lapping at the pool of precome shining against his skin before he takes the slick, swollen head into his mouth. He revels in the feel of it forcing his mouth wide open and moans softly at the bitter taste he catches on his tongue.
Alex looks up at Michael through his lashes as he starts to suck him, sinking down onto his cock a little lower with every pass of his lips. Michael’s got his bottom lip caught painfully between his teeth, his eyes trained hungrily on the way his cock is slipping in and out of Alex’s mouth.
The soft, needy whimpers Michael makes as Alex swallows around him are music to his ears, stoking the fire inside of him until the pressure in his own cock becomes unbearable. Alex grinds his hips down against the mattress for relief, but it only makes him more desperate to come. He slides one of his hands straight into his own pants and groans around Michael’s cock as he starts to fuck his fist.
It’s not much longer that Michael’s hips start to twitch against the mattress and his fingers tighten their grip on Alex’s hair. He barely gets out a warning, “Fuck, I’m gonna come,” before he’s pulsing hot and wet across Alex’s tongue. Alex swallows it greedily, moaning softly as he works Michael through the rest of his orgasm and keeps chasing his own with eager, shallow thrusts.
When Michael’s had enough, Alex pulls off of his cock and buries his face against his hip as he comes quietly over his own fist, making a mess of the inside of his underwear. He’ll probably be embarrassed about that later, but for now he’s content to come down to the feeling of Michael gently petting his hair.
“Get up here,” Michael says when he’s recovered the ability to speak, tugging lightly on the ends of Alex’s hair to get his attention.
Alex groans as he lifts his head off Michael’s hip and maneuvers himself until he’s lying next to him again, his stump crossed over Michael’s thigh.
“Did you—?” Michael cuts off, eyes caught on the sticky mess on Alex’s hand now that he’s pulled it free from his pants.
“Yeah,” Alex admits, a little sheepishly.
Michael stares at his hand for a long second before he grabs his wrist and pulls his hand closer to his face. He looks Alex in the eye as he sucks two of his fingers into his mouth, grunting softly as he licks them clean.
“Fuck,” Alex whispers, his cock twitching in vain against his thigh at the sight and feel of Michael’s tongue sliding between his fingers.
“You missed sucking my cock that bad, huh?” Michael asks when he lets them fall from his mouth, voice low and rough as gravel as he pushes into Alex’s space, so close he can smell himself on Michael’s breath.
Alex lets out a shuddering breath. “Yes,” he answers.
Michael leans in to kiss him, quick and dirty and possessive, before he pulls back and says, “Guess I’m just gonna have to wait until the morning to return the favor then.”
“I guess so,” Alex says, hooking his clean hand around the back of Michael’s neck to bring him in for another one.
Michael kisses him back eagerly for a long moment before he pulls away. “Be right back,” he says, and climbs out of bed.
While he’s in the bathroom, Alex shimmies his dirty sweatpants and underwear off his legs and onto the floor. It’s only another minute before Michael’s back, a damp washcloth gripped between his fingers.
It’s warm against Alex’s skin as Michael uses it to clean him up, and when they’re done they settle down for bed, Alex’s head resting on Michael’s chest and his arm thrown across his waist.
And as Alex finally closes his eyes for the night, his thoughts naturally drift to all the problems they’ll be facing tomorrow morning:
Saving Kyle.
Freeing Maria.
Stopping Jones.
Unlocking the secrets of a mysterious 50 year old alien device and hopefully not going insane while trying.
But as the steady sound of Michael’s heartbeat lulls him to sleep, the loudest thought in his head is that Michael loves him.
Whatever happens come morning, they’ll deal with it together.

----
Luke eagerly pulls Julie along as they walk down several corridors, up moving staircases and through low hanging archways. The deeper they walked into the castle, the quieter it got.
He had been jittery all morning, too impatient to pay attention in any of his classes as he counted down the hours and minutes until he was free to find Julie and drag her to his surprise. He’d lost his house countless of house points, his leg bouncing and his mind wandering whenever any of his professors called on him in class.
Alex had tried to help a few times whispering the right answers to him, but unfortunately nothing could help Luke when he got in one of these moods. He was just too excited.
Julie trips on her feet behind him, a reminder that her legs were shorter than his. He shakes his head, bringing himself back to the present as he focuses on the girl next to him. Luke slows down his pace, squeezing Julie’s hand once in apology as he gives her a few seconds to regain her balance.
The last thing he wanted to do was mess this up by having her trip and fall right before his big reveal.
Alex had already nearly blown the entire thing when they had passed him on the fifth floor coming out of the prefects’ bathrooms, forcing Luke to very loudly and purposefully talk over him to stop Julie from hearing anything. When he had realised his mistake, Alex had quickly gone quiet, his features morphing into a sheepish expression as he waved at them, walking away and back towards the Hufflepuff common room.
“Luuuuuke, where are you taking me?" His lips twitch at her whine, finding it to be very endearing. "It’s nearly past curfew and as Prefect I really can’t afford to be caught sneaking around by Harrison again.” He sees her look down at her outfit from the corner of his eye, a look of frustrated confusion taking over her face. "Also why did you tell me to change into my normal clothes under my robe?"
Luke snorts at her words, hopping onto the stairs leading them towards the seventh floor, Julie quickly following suit as the staircase starts moving.
“First of all, Harrison absolutely loves you — she'd probably thank you for being you and then very politely ask you to head back to your tower, and then turn right around and give me 3 months’ worth of detention in the same breath.” He turns his head towards her, throwing her his signature grin. “You’ll be fine. And second of all, you ask too many questions. We’re nearly there -- be patient Young Padawan."
"Young-" She shakes her head, cutting herself off, the muggle reference clicking. Luke grimaces at his choice of words, thinking might be spending a little too much time around Reggie lately. "And where is there, exactly?"
Luke tries very hard not to take the stairs two steps at a time.
"Nuh-uh, I already told you - it's a surprise."
He smiles at the disgruntled noise she makes, knowing just how impatient Julie can be. He sneaks a look at her face from over his shoulder, nearly tripping over the stone steps when he sees a little pout on her lips.
At his fumble, a smirk replaces the pout, her voice coming out cockier than usual. "You good there, Patterson?"
Luke whips his head back around, his eyes flying to his feet and staying fixed on the steps in front of him.
"Yeah," he clears his throat before continuing, "yeah, I'm fine. We're uh- we're nearly there."
"It's what you keep telling me," is her teasing, sing-song reply, her mood apparently shifting at his fumble.
Luke keeps his eyes forward, hoping Julie can't see his reddened cheeks as they reach the seventh floor landing. He stops for a second to let her catch her breath before pulling her along with him again, taking the first left corridor they come across to head towards the Troll tapestry.
He'd been taking this route so many times in the last few weeks, he could probably do this with his eyes closed. He had wanted everything to be perfect, practicing again and again until he was sure he had nailed the process.
Only the best for his Julie Molina.
Their steps echo as they make their way down the seldom used corridor, the flickering lights from the torches casting long shadows on the stone floor ahead of them.
"Merlin, this castle is so creepy sometimes," mutters Julie to his left, shivering slightly as her hand tightens its hold on his.
Luke squeezes back, his eyes zeroing in on the tapestry up ahead. His heart starts to beat faster, the excitement reaching an all-time high, only slightly tainted by the nerves that fought to make their presence known.
Taking a deep breath, Luke slowly lets it out as they reach their destination, stopping and turning to face the large tapestry.
Julie stands next to him, confused as she takes in the scene before her - a group of Trolls in tutus attempting to learn the ballet. He watches her as she follows their movements, zeroing in on Barnabas the Barmy as he attempts to direct the Trolls to his left, while the ones on the right pull out their clubs ready to hit him over the head.
Luke loses focus for a second, too taken by Julie - by her furrowed brows, her scrunched up nose as she leans forward to inspect the design on the tutus, and especially by the way her lips twist before her bottom lip slips between her teeth.
He's only shaken out of his daze, his eyes flying up and away from her lips, when she suddenly turns to him with a quizzical look on her face.
"Is this the Barnabas the Barmy Tapestry? Why are we- wait..." She turns her head back towards the Tapestry, taking in the scene with new eyes. "I remember reading about this in Hogwarts: A History years ago...It was the chapter about the many hidden magical rooms in Hogwarts and..." She trails off as she looks at him, her eyes widening. She lets go of his hand, slowly turning in place to face the wall behind them - the one right across from the Tapestry.
"Wait....Isn't this-"
Luke rushes to cut her off, quickly turning around and stepping up in front of her to block her view of the wall, in a hurry to derail her train of thought.
"Okay! So, if you could stand right," he places his hands on either side of her waist, pulling her forward as he walks backwards, positioning her right in the middle of the corridor. "Here."
His hands don't move once she's in place, his fingers brushing against smooth warmth right where a sliver of skin peaks out between her t-shirt and the top of her jeans. He had somehow slid his hands under her open robes without even realising it.
His eyes fly up to meet hers, already wide and staring. They stand there in the quiet space, both locked in each others' gazes, neither one of them daring to move. Within seconds Luke can already feel the now familiar thrum of electricity that always crackled whenever they were both together. Only this time it felt even more surreal.
If he could, Luke thinks he could stay this way for the rest of the night, of the school year, but he brought her here for a reason, so he loudly clears his throat, effectively breaking some of the tension that had built between them. He lets his hands slip away from her waist as he takes a step back, his fingers still tingling from the contact.
"So just...yeah just stay there for a few seconds, while I..." He trails off as he looks away, turning around to face the bare wall in front of them and trying very hard to refocus on the task at hand.
He closes his eyes, clearing his mind until all he has left is the image of the room he wants to recreate.
Taking a deep breath, he pivots on his right foot and faces the direction they had just come from. He takes a few steps forward then abruptly turns back around and walks back down the corridor, making sure to keep his focus. He stops again once he reaches the edge of the Tapestry, turning back around and repeating the process until he starts hearing the sound of crumbling walls that always preceded the emergence of a large wooden door, seemingly appearing out of nowhere.
Luke opens his eyes to take in the transformation in front of him, only turning to look at Julie when he hears her surprised gasp.
"Luke-" she's cut off by the increasing creaking sound of the door hinges slotting into place, the loud grating out of place on the deserted floor - until suddenly - everything stops. A deafening silence follows, only broken by the crackling of the torches nearby.
Coughing quietly to get her attention, Luke speaks up.
"So...Reggie told us about this room he read about a few weeks ago when we were trying to find a new rehearsal space to use, since, you know, Covington kicked us out of the fifth floor classrooms 'cause he obviously has no taste whatsoever when it comes to real music and loves making everyone miserable, especially Hufflepuffs and-" Luke cuts himself off when he realises he's rambling, rubbing the back of his neck before clearing his throat to continue.
"Yeah well, I asked around to check if this place actually existed and then Willie, you know how Willie likes to listen to us play - although honestly I think he just likes to hang out so he can watch Alex - but anyway, what I'm trying to say is that one of the ghosts from down by the dungeons owed Willie a favour so....ta-da," he finishes lamely, his arms coming up to point towards the door in front of them while wiggling his fingers.
It's quiet for a few seconds, Julie presumably taking it all in.
"You- you found the Room of Requirement?" She asks quietly, sounding almost awed.
"I mean- I had a lot of help from the guys and then Willie and the Bloody-"
"You found it," she cuts him off, her fingers reaching forward as she moves close enough to touch the door.
Luke scratches the back of his head, suddenly feeling shy in her presence.
"Uh, yeah, I guess I did."
He keeps his eyes on her, tracking her movements as she traces the patterns on the door, following the curving decorative loops down the length of the doorframe until her fingers wrap around the protruding metal handle.
"Luke, this is incredible."
The tone of her voice makes his cheeks grow warmer.
"Nah it's nothing," he tries to brush it off, shuffling on his feet, glad that she is too preoccupied with the door to see his continuously reddening cheeks.
She turns to him then, her hand still latching onto the handle.
"It's not nothing! There's a literal betting pool over at Ravenclaw tower to see who can find this place first, and so far no one's done it..." She shakes her head at him, a smile making its way onto her lips. "But you did."
Luke scuffs his shoe against the stone flooring, not sure what to do with himself. He's always been awkward with compliments, especially when they came from Julie.
Apparently Julie eventually takes pity on him, speaking up again.
"So Patterson, what am I going to find behind this door? A record store? That dodgy hot dog place you told me about? I saw you pacing back and forth three times in front of it, so I'm assuming you already have something or somewhere in mind."
She quirks a brow at him, her eyes shining bright with curiosity.
"Yes! That's actually why I brought you here," he chooses to ignore her little digs as he bounces closer to the door, coming to stand right next to her. "So I remember you saying at the start of the year how you've been struggling with music and...y'know...because no matter where you went you just never felt comfortable enough? And then I remembered the studio you always talked about, the one where your mom taught you everything you knew..."
He watches as her expression slowly morphs, her eyes getting wider and her lips parting ever so slightly.
"I asked Flynn to show me if you had any photos of the space and well..." Luke wraps his fingers around the metal chain hanging off his jeans underneath his robe, squeezing tight to keep himself from fidgeting.
Julie continues to stare at him, her expression frozen on her face. It only made him more restless.
Shit, did he take it too far? Was this not what friends did for each other? Sure he had been in love with Julie for years now, but he's been trying really hard to keep it strictly friendly between them, not wanting to ruin anything, especially after having lost her mom.
And Luke likes to think this is definitely something he would have done for either Reggie or Alex.
But maybe her studio back home was something too personal to her? Maybe she wasn't ready?
"Oh Merlin Julie if this is out of line we can just forget this whole thing happened and-"
Suddenly Luke is cut off by a small bundle of limbs and soft curves throwing themselves at him. His arms reach up reflexively, wrapping them around her, his hands coming to rest on the small of her back.
"Thank you," she says, or so he thinks, being the only words he can barely make out, muffled as they are against his t-shirt.
"Of course Julie." He moves his hands up and down her back, a gesture he knows is comforting to her.
The arms wrapped around his neck tighten for a second before she releases him, taking a small step back and wiping at her face with the sleeve of her robe.
He takes in her face, her expression so vulnerable, unsure about what to do next. But then a small smile appears as she nods at his unanswered question. He reciprocates, nodding back with a smile of his own.
He gestures towards the door. "So, want to do the honours?"
He watches as she nods again, taking in a deep breath before turning to face the door once more. With slightly shaking hands, Julie reaches over and wraps her fingers around the handle, twisting it before pushing. The heavy wooden door creaks at the movement, slowly swinging open until they were both standing on the threshold of a brightly lit garage-turned studio space.
Luke only takes a second to check that everything inside is as it should be, before turning back around to look at Julie.
Her eyes widen at the scene that welcomes her, the steps she takes as she crosses over into the space small and tentative. Luke slips in right behind her, taking her hand off the handle before easing the door shut behind them. He keeps her hand in his as she looks around the space, her fingers brushing over everything within her reach - from the throw covering the armchair that greets them on the right, to the trinkets covering the corner shelves on their left. As they gradually move into the studio, the sound of their footsteps alternating from loud to muffled as they cross over the various rugs decorating the space, Julie’s eyes move upwards, her attention momentarily shifting to the ceiling. Luke follows her gaze to see the three hanging chairs he’d debated leaving out, glad to have included now that he sees a wistful smile take place on Julie’s face.
With the late afternoon Californian sunlight streaming in through the windows, the studio almost looks magical, a warm golden glow enveloping the space. Julie’s gaze comes back down as she pulls Luke along with her further into the studio, walking around the baby grand piano, her finger lightly trailing its side, to stand in front of the wall of plants nestled against the glass back wall.
"My mom..." Julie starts, breaking the silence before trailing off as she reaches over to touch the leaves hanging closest to her. "She always said that plants were sacred. She used to tell me and Carlos all these stories about these spirits that lived in each and every single plant on Earth, protecting those who cared for them. Nurturing all those who treated them with love and kindness and respect." Luke takes in the sight of the green foliage, noting how beautiful it looked. "Said tjat our loved ones’ spirits somehow lived in the very roots of these plants.
“Our house has these pots and vases full of flowers and all sorts of plants all over the place - even our garden looks like a jungle!" She lets out a watery laugh, sniffling as she gets on her tiptoes as if on instinct to pull down a green watering pot resting on a shelf above them.
Luke, seeing what Julie wants to do, hurries to pull out his wand from his back-pocket, muttering a quick Aguamenti as he taps the watering pot. Julie shoots him a grateful smile before she starts watering the plants one by one, Luke tucking his wand away into his robe pocket.
“We used to take turns, each of us spending a few minutes or hours watering and pruning every single plant in the house and in here - but my mom was always there anyway, singing to us, to the plants. Keeping us company.” Julie leans forward as she tries to reach the back row. "But when she...when she wasn't around anymore, I- I stopped. I couldn't bring myself to think about her plants or her music or her stories — let alone come in here where everything about this place reminded me of her." Luke gently rubs the back of her hand with his thumb, not wanting to cut her off, but still finding a small way to try and comfort her.
"I guess my dad took care of everything last summer..." Julie trails off as she finishes watering the remaining hanging plants, before placing the watering pot back in its place.
She turns to him, a peaceful smile lighting up her face. "I forgot how soothing it felt to do that. Thank you."
Luke's smile widens at her words, nodding at her in response.
She keeps her eyes locked on his for a few more seconds before averting her gaze, turning back around to face the piano they had walked past earlier.
Julie lets go of his hand as she slowly makes her way towards the instrument, only stopping when she reaches the bench. Luke takes note of her hesitancy to touch the piano, only to then take a deep breath and slip onto the bench, fingers poised over the fall-board.
He slowly walks up behind her, squeezing her shoulder once before moving away.
"Julie, if you need some space or want me to go I can just-"
Her eyes, which had slid shut, pop open at his words as she cuts him off before he can even finish his sentence.
"No! No, this is- Stay. I want you here, really." She looks at him with so much open trust and something else he can't quite place, that Luke doesn’t really know what to say. So instead he just nods at her, pointing at the black couch behind him.
"I'm uh- I'll just go sit there? Give you a few minutes to yourself, yeah?"
At her nod, he takes a step backwards before spinning around on the spot, his shoe squeaking against the wood flooring, jumping over the coffee table and landing on the old weathered couch cushions.
He hears a little giggle behind him, his head whipping up in time to find Julie attempting, and failing, to smother the sound. His pokes his tongue out at her in response even as warmth blooms in his chest at the sound of her laughter.
She shakes her head at him before averting her eyes and focusing the piano before her, slowing reaching out to lift the fall-board.
He can see the anticipation and fear and love and grief and happiness swirling in her eyes, noticed the way her fingers shake as they hover over the keys. His own fingers dig into his knees, forcing himself to stay still, to stay quiet, as he witnesses a moment that truly is monumental for Julie.
He watches her as she takes another deep breath, squaring her shoulders as if ready for battle. She nods to herself once right before her fingers land on the keys, music instantly filling every corner of the studio, every corner of his soul.
Luke has always been sensitive to music - he thinks that's why he's always been good at picking up new instruments so quickly, at finding the right words and melodies and blending them together to create something new and exciting. But the feeling that courses through him as he listens to Julie singing takes him completely by surprise. It's like a physical punching him in the gut, squeezing his heart and taking his breath away all at once. He sits there, stunned, as he listens to Julie inadvertently command his full attention, singing her heart out.
He thinks it must be an original, because he doesn’t recognise it at all.
Her face goes through a rollercoaster of emotions, pain leaking through as she makes her way through the first pre-chorus.
And you use your pain,
‘Cause it makes you you,
Thought I wish I could hold you through it
I know it’s not the same
You got living to do
And I just want you to do it
But then just as she reaches the end, gearing up for what feels like the chorus, Luke sees determination take its place.
So get up, get out, relight that spark,
You know the rest by heart
Julie dives into the chorus, full of energy and hope, another one of her many smiles suddenly changing the tone of the song.
She makes her way through the second verse, pre-chorus and chorus in the same vain, the energy around her building and building, Luke’s heart beat matching it.
The song reaches its crescendo, her voice climbing as it builds on every note it hits, Julie getting to her feet, spreading her arms wide as she gets to the high note. A look of peaceful acceptance crosses her face before she eases the songs to it’s final chorus, settling back down onto the bench, singing and playing softly as the song comes to an end, the last two words ringing in the quiet studio.
Wake up
All Luke can do is stare with his mouth hanging open as Julie lowers her hands onto her lap, her eyes closed, chest heaving. He had always known that Julie was a powerhouse, always known that music coursed through her veins right along her magic, but he had never heard her sing the way she just had. Not with the full force of her voice as so many raw emotions filtered through.
It left him reeling. He needed to catch his breath.
If he wasn't already in love with her, he knows he'd be head over heels for her after what he had just witnessed.
He's pulled out of his daze when Julie moves, her eyes open as she stands up and steps away from the bench, slowly moving towards him.
Luke scrambles to shuffle down the sofa making space for her to sit, only to be surprised when she chooses to sit on his lap, her arms wrapping around his neck as she burrows her face in his neck.
It takes him a few seconds to react, his body frozen and unable to process.
"I know I keep saying this but....thank you," she whispers, voice unstable, her lips sending shivers down his spine as they brush against the skin of his neck.
The movement snaps him out of his stupor, his arms coming up to fully wrap around her, pulling her closer to his chest as he leans back against the couch cushions.
"I told you," he says, resting his chin over her head of curls, "anything for you, Julie."
Her fingers curls into the fabric of his t-shirt, pulling herself closer to him at his words.
They stay that way for a while, Julie’s breathing eventually easing into a calm rhythm.
Luke stays quiet, understanding her need to absorb everything she had just gone through, happy to just hold her in his arms. When she does break the silence, her voice comes out a little more composed.
"I- that was a song my mom wrote for me before she- when she found out..." Her whisper trails off into silence, the pain in her voice squeezing at his heart.
Luke tightens his arms around her.
"You don't have to explain it to me, Jules, it's okay."
"No I- I want to."
Luke relents, nodding at her words as he patiently waits for her to continue.
"I found the song right before leaving home back in September, and when I saw it...it just hurt too much. I couldn't even get past the title." She releases her grip on his shirt only to start tracing random patterns on his arm, leaving a trail of goosebumps behind.
“I packed it up and brought it with me thinking I’d be able to read it once settled in my dorm, a space my mom’s never been in but — it took me months to even take it out again, and then a few more months after that just to read through the whole thing. That first time I was a mess," she laughs, a small quiet sound. "Flynn was so close to dragging me to Madam Pomfrey but I managed to convince her I was okay-ish. And then after that it slowly started becoming a little easier every time I read through it until one day I just knew the full song by heart." She stops talking for a few minutes, lost in her own thoughts as she continues her ministrations on his arm. "But even then I still couldn't get myself to sing it, I was always so scared that once I did, it meant that my mom really was gone, that the last piece I had connecting me to her was over and I couldn't bear it..."
Luke's heart drops at her words, an apology ready on the tip of his tongue.
"But the minute I walked into our studio again, this studio, after watering those plants and being able to share all of her stories about spirits and magic and life always being around even after death with you, it just...clicked." She lifts her head up from her hiding place, finally locking eyes with him. "I carry her with me, in everything I do. And I know that I would have eventually figured this out myself, probably once I went back home over the summer, maybe, but..." Julie places her hand against his cheek, her fingers warm against his skin. "It wouldn't have been the same, and I- well, thank you. Again." She tilts her head, looking at him from under her lashes with a smile so radiant on her face, all he can do is nod, turning his head to press a kiss against the palm of her hand.
He feels her fingers twitch against his face, a hitch in her breathing as he looks back up at her.
He finds her looking at him, eyes wide and open, looking both tired and fully awake with dried tear tracks down her cheeks, her bun falling apart with loose curls bending at weird angles from a long day of classes, but all he can think is how beautiful she is. How much he loves her and everything she is, and he tries to hard to stop himself but-
"I love you.”
The words spill out, unable and unwilling to stay locked up anymore. His own eyes widen at his confession, regret flooding in the second he says it.
"I- I- I," he tries to backtrack, to fill the silence, anything, but now that the words are out in the open, his brain and mouth seem to have detached, neither one wanting to cooperate with the other.
Julie stares at him, her eyes somehow growing larger, her mouth forming into the shape of an "o".
“Oh.”
Luke braces himself for her rejection, prepares himself to feel the cold air rush in the minute she moves off of his lap.
But instead, Julie brings up her other hand to fully cup his face, her mouth stretching out into a full blown grin.
"You love me?" she asks, breathless.
Luke, too stunned to do anything else, simply nods at her question.
“You love me," she repeats, this time more of a statement than a question.
She surprises again him by laughing, a lovely melodious sound that pulls the laughter out of him, joining her in her mirth as he chuckles quietly along in his confusion.
"I'm sorry I'm not- I'm not laughing at you," she tries to get out between laughs, her smile still present on her face. "I'm just in disbelief, I-" She shakes her head, laughter quietening down as her thumbs swipe along his cheekbones.
"I love you too."
Those four words take him by surprise, affecting him in a way even her singing hadn’t, his mind spinning, heart racing, entire being vibrating.
Julie Molina loved him.
She loved him too.
He takes his time to commit this moment, her face, the feel of her weight on his lap and the warmth of her hands against his cheeks, to memory. His eyes roam her face, taking in every detail, before they finally land on her smiling lips.
He briefly thinks back to all the moments he had wished he could kiss her, taste her smile and her joy and happiness - and share in that glow that always seemed to be uniquely hers.
He now smiles at that thought, thinking that maybe he might actually be able to experience the one thing he had always craved but thought was off-limits.
Lifting his eyes back up to meet her, Luke leans slightly forward, in askance, in invitation. When she reciprocates his movements, Luke brings both his hands up from behind her back, cupping her face as he pulls her closer to him, ending years’ worth of pining.

Come As You Are
Summary: Dean takes Y/n dress shopping for a hunt, both of them blissfully unaware of where it will lead.
Pairing: Dean Winchester x Plus Size Reader
Word Count: 3.9K+
Warnings: Language, self-esteem and body image struggles, public intercourse, unprotected intercourse (wrap it before you tap it)
Author’s Note: This was written for an anonymous request,
“Hey babe I don’t know if your taking requests but I had a groovy idea dean x shy plus reader where they have to get the reader nice sexy clothes but she feels really uncomfortable in them and refuses to leave the dressing room and dean confess how he feels and they have sex in the dressing room ? Fluff and smut”
I truly enjoyed writing it so I hope it lives up to your expectations anon. Remember, feedback is like crack to writers, and we always love to hear what you thought xoxo Alex
Consider checking out a book from Alexandra’s Library!
A frown etched itself on her face as she ran her hand over the fabrics hanging from the racks. All of it felt foreign underneath her fingertips. Satin, chiffon, and everything else that was far more expensive than she was used to. Y/n’s wardrobe mostly consisted of denim and polyester blends that tended to fray after two washes. It was all that a hunter could afford, after all.
“How in the hell are we gonna afford any of this crap?” She whispered to Dean, who was eyeing the rack behind her, the gowns in front of him all a deep shade of red.
“Charlie’s miracle card, remember? There is no limit,” Dean raised his brow at her, a grin etched across his perfect face.
“Fine,” she groaned. “I still don’t see why I even need to go dress shopping, I’m sure I could find something in my closet.”
“I’ve seen your closet, and none of it is right for this case. You’ve got to distract the coroner for the night and you can’t do that in baggy jeans and flannel.” Dean huffed as he picked a dress off the rack. Y/n’s eyes went wide as she took it in, the hem was short for anyone’s standards, then add in the plunging neckline and this dress left nothing to the imagination.
“That is so not happening,” Y/n pointed at the offensive garment, her stomach fluttering at the simple idea of even trying to slip into it. Every spot on her body that she hated would be on full display in that thing. Her thick thighs, the roll that sat on her bra just under her arms, and don’t get her started on her abdomen.
“Come on, just try it. You never know ‘till you try it on.”
“Ugh,” Y/n snatched the dress from his hand before stalking off to look at more dresses. There were a couple more options that she grabbed to try on that were closer to her comfortability level. Under normal circumstances, she wouldn’t be caught dead in any of the items in her arms. But Dean had this way about him, always able to convince her to do anything without question. Maybe it was the way his skin crinkled around his eyes or the brightness that always seemed to live behind those deliciously green eyes? Who was she kidding, it was all of that and then some. The huntress had fallen hard for him from that first meeting. Sometimes she wondered why she chose to torture herself.
Dean Winchester was the cream of the crop when it came to hunters, as was his baby brother, Sam. The whole world knew who they were, including heaven and hell, so how could she be expected to resist him when he smiled at her the way he does. Or even when he made her coffee in the mornings just how she liked it and picked up chocolate and pain killers for her when he knew it was that time of the month. He was exceedingly attentive to her, something that she was sure he only directed at Sam. It was just another thing that surprised her about the legend of a man.
Yeah, like an idiot she fell for the eldest Winchester. There was no stopping it even though she was certain that her feelings would never be reciprocated. Y/n wasn’t like the other woman that Dean went for when he was on the prowl at bars. It’s not that she was ugly, it was that she was plain at best. People didn’t turn their heads when she walked in the room, men’s gazes didn’t linger on her from across the bar, no, Y/n was merely average. That’s how she knew that Dean would never see her as more than a friend because he had never looked at her in any form of want.
“Are you ready to try those on?” A sales woman’s voice broke her out of her unrelenting train of thought. Dean answered for her before she could process the woman’s words.
“Yes, please.” He smiled brightly and Y/n watched as the woman’s face flushed under his gaze. Y/n almost felt bad for the woman who was now just another victim to his charm. The saleswoman at least would be able to relish in his attention, wondering about what could have been had Y/n not been there with him. Y/n on the other hand already knew her fate. But mostly, if she was being honest, she was jealous.
Dean put his hands on her shoulders and guided her along behind the boutique worker who took them into the back of the store where the dressing rooms were located. The area was mostly quiet, just the music from the speakers could be heard in the space. Three large mirrors sat in front of a stage on the far wall, the rooms spaning out on either side of it. In the center of the room were three plush chairs for those waiting for others to sit in.
The worker unlocked a door for her as Dean plopped down in one of the chairs. Y/n slipped behind the door, letting out a deep breath as it closed behind her. If there was one thing she hated it was trying on clothes. Nothing ever seemed to fit her right or look anything like what it did on the hanger. It made the task a constant battle with her self-consciousness.
Y/n had always carried extra weight on her body. It wasn’t that she didn’t live an active lifestyle, she was a hunter, after all, it was the diet that hunters were accustomed to. It was fast food and dives in every small town in America. Not many mom and pop places tended to offer an egg white omelet, and it wasn’t her inclination to eat them either. So, she had always been bigger than most, and if she was being honest she had grown used to that. Maybe she used it as a shield to protect herself. Making connections with people as a hunter only tended to end in heartbreak, so this was easier.
The hunter hid the scary red thing Dean had selected behind all the rest of her haul, hoping she would find something before she ever even got to the thing. Y/n stripped from her flannel and jeans tossing them on the bench in the corner. She also added her bra to the pile, knowing all of these garments necessitated that she did not wear one. That left her in her favorite pair of panties. They weren’t anything special, but they made her butt looked its best.
The first dress in the line up was a straight black dress that hit just above her knee. The neckline wasn’t anything too crazy but the sleeves rolled off the shoulders a strip of fabric wrapping around her bust. Y/n was able to slip it on and tug up the zipper on the side. With a slide of her hands against the fabric, she frowned at her reflection. Not that it would flatter any figure, in her opinion.
“What’s taking so long in there?” Dean called out from his spot in front of the mirrors.
“I’m not coming out in this thing,” she called back as she began to take the dress back off.
“Oh, come on sweetheart,”
“Nope, next,” Y/n heard him huff even through the door and she imagined he rolled his eyes as well.
The next dress was a deep blue color. It had a wrap and pencil skirt, with an asymmetrical shape between the hem and the neckline. She supposed it was pretty but it also kind of looked like she had wrapped herself in a towel. Mostly, she felt like the point in the neckline was going to stab her in the throat, and she was not sure how to be sexy when she was trying not to die. It was another pass for her.
There was only one dress left, and at that moment she was wishing to whoever was listening that she had picked out a few more choices. Dean was whistling now, some Zeppelin tune she couldn’t exactly identify and she knew he was getting impatient. Y/n swapped the fabrics on her body, pulling the thin straps of the red satin piece up onto her shoulders. The dress clung to her skin, the fabric lightweight.
“Y/n/n,” Dean’s voice was just outside the door, the new proximity of it startling her. “Come on, you have to show me at least one. I know you and you’ll just try vetoing them all.” Y/n swore under her breath because he was right and it pissed her off that he knew her that well. The zipper was out of her reach on her back and she supposed she wouldn’t be able to truly see what it looked like on her unless she zipped it up.
“Fine, I need help with this zipper anyway,” she sighed and held the fabric against her naked chest while opening the door with her other. Dean was beaming when he came into view on the other side of the door. He snuck inside faster than a flea, the slamming of the door startling her again.
Get it together woman, you kill monsters for a living, Y/n cursed herself.
“Turn,” Dean instructed her with his fingers, and the woman obliged as she faced the mirror. Dean brushed her hair off her shoulder with his fingertips, the action barely distinguishable but it sent the hairs on the back of her neck standing to attention. With one hand holding the bottom stop, he used the other to tug on the pull tab, sliding together the teeth in one fluid motion.
“Thanks,” Y/n’s words were soft as she made eye contact with the green-eyed hunter in the mirror. He ran his tongue of his bottom lip, pulling the plump flesh between his teeth as his eyes wandered over her exposed skin.
Y/n visibly cringed as she looked at herself. Unfortunately, this was her favorite out of the three, but that didn’t mean she felt like she could venture anywhere in public in the thing. “Sweetheart, if that coroner hadn’t already been eyeing you up today, he would not know where to start when he sees you in this.”
“Shut up,” Y/n scrunched her nose as she spun around to whack Dean’s shoulder. “You are so full of it.”
“Am not,” Dean scoffed, his eye softening before he continued. “Y/n, why don’t you see how beautiful you are?”
Y/n whipped around to stare at him, her arms crossing over her chest, not believing that those words come out of his mouth. Surely, he was playing with her…
“Have you looked at me, Dean?” Y/n slapped her hands against her thighs, emphasizing their jiggle upon impact. “I’m nothing special.”
“I have looked at you,” His gaze traveled down her body again, his breath hitching slightly as he did so. “I’ve been looking at you for a while now.” The drop in Dean’s voice sent heat rushing through her body, the gravel undertone making her shiver.
“Dean--” words escaped her as the hunter stepped into her personal space, pushing her back against the mirror. Dean’s left hand came to rest against the reflective surface just beside her head as he chewed on his lip.
“I don’t think you know how hard it is for me to keep my eyes off of you,” he leaned into her, his nose brushing alongside hers. “And now, seeing you in this dress, I’m not sure I’ll be able to keep my hands off you.”
A rush of confidence coursed through her blood as his hot breath fanned over her face and Y/n slipped her hands behind his neck, pulling his lips down to meet hers. The movement was anything but smooth, though the action sent both of the hunters into action. Dean growled as he nipped her lower lip and she opened up to him, allowing his tongue to invade her mouth.
A moan involuntarily came from her as his hands moved to her hips, the heat of his skin seeping through the thin material where his finger pressed into her flesh. He stepped back, pulling her after him as he backed up and dropped to sit on the plush bench. Dean bunched up the material to her hips as he urged her to straddle his lap. Y/n used her hands on his shoulders to steady herself, the new bulge in his pants a surprise to her as she settled in his lap.
“Yeah, and you thought I was kidding,” Dean took in the slight rise in her brow, leaning forward to run his lips across her jaw, taking note of the places that made her shiver. Her eyes were squeezed shut as she allowed Dean to explore her body and let herself just feel him. Dean raked his teeth along with the shell of her ear, causing her to buck her hips and both of them to groan.
“Fuck,” her words were a breath on her lips as she repeated the action, the roughness of his jeans just enough friction on her aching sex.
“That’s it, beautiful, take what you need,” Dean sat back and used his hands to keep her body moving against his own, watching the way her brows scrunched together in the center of her forehead. With a shift of his hips, he had her pushed back and straddling his left thigh, his hands still in their place on her hips. “Can you come like this, sweetheart?”
“I don’t--” a jolt of electricity had her halting her denial, instead she chose to just nod and place her hands against his chest to balance her movement. She could feel Dean’s heart hammering in his chest under her palm and the quick rise and fall of his breath. Even at this moment, she was disbelieving that he was that turned on watching her get herself off on his thigh, but she had the proof hammering under her fingertips. Y/n was biting her lip to keep quiet in the small room. “Dean, I’m so close.”
“I’ve got you, come for me, Y/n,” he husked as his grip tightened, though she wasn’t sure how that was even possible, seeing as there was already gonna be bruises there later, that she was sure of. The sound of his voice reverberating in her head had the coil snapping inside of her, heat flooding her body as every nerve sparked and faded out. A rush of air left her lungs, her body slumping as her muscles relaxed post-orgasm.
“Oh my god.” As her arousal ebbed from her body and the reality of what just happened came to her sense, Y/n clammed up and she tried to climb from his lap. Blood rushed to her face and her hands flew to her cheeks to hide the heat settling there.
“Woah, where are you going?” Dean stopped her from making a hasty exit, his eyes searching hers in question.
“Dean, what the hell just happened?”
A smirk replaced the confusion on his face as he leaned forward and nuzzled his face in her neck, tracing his tongue up her pulse. “You just got yourself off on my thigh while I tried not to cream my jeans,” he breathed in her ear. It was like he already knew every button to push on her body, his dirty talk doing everything she needed it to for her body to already be aching for him again.
“I--”
“Shh, sweetheart. That was hot as fuck, and all I want now is to be buried deep inside that pretty pussy of yours.”
“Jesus,” her eyes shifted to his, taking in the mischievous glint shining behind his iris. “You aren’t kidding.”
“Nope,” he popped the ‘p’ at the end of his word and Y/n nodded as she climbed off him. She turned her back to him so he could undo the zipper, and it took a second for Dean to catch on to her silent action. He jumped to the edge of the bench and tugged down the zipper before sliding the material down her shoulders. Dean hooked his fingers into the edge of her panties, placing a kiss on the dip in her lower back before pulling the soaked material to pool at her feet along with the dress. He stood then as she turned back to him and pushed his jacket and flannel down his arms, adding it to the pile of discarded clothes in the room.
“Come, on we don’t have a lot of time before someone gets suspicious.” There was a quiver in her voice as she lifted the hem of his tee and tugged open his belt. It was taking everything in her to quell the shaking in her hands. Dean’s fingers came down to wrap around her wrists, halting her movement and she looked up at him.
“Y/n we don’t have to,” he was trying to read her mind as he examined her face. The trepidation was seeping through her pores, but not because she didn’t want this. Hell, the painful ache between her legs told her how much she wanted this, but her brain couldn’t help to race through the million thoughts about what it all meant.
“No, I-- God do I want this,” Y/n began chewing on the inside of her cheek as she tried to come up with the words to explain to him what she was thinking. But the longer the time passed the more nervous she grew, standing there stark naked and he’s still basically fully dressed. “I think I’ve wanted this for a long time now, but I’m just scared.”
“Of?” He urged her to continue.
“That this doesn’t mean the same thing to you,” Y/n cast her glance down, her eyes fixated on the way the fluorescent light glinted in the metal of his belt.
“You think that this is about getting my dick wet for me.” It wasn’t a question, because she had all but spelled it out for him. “Y/n,” He put his fingers under her chin and turned her head back up to his, brushing his lips against hers, the action soft and unhurried. “I told you, I’ve been watching you for a while now, trying to learn everything I could about you. I would have done this the first night I met you if I hadn’t thought about what it would do to you. But I’m done being scared because I think I fell for you a long time ago and no amount of whiskey or other women could make me forget that. So I’m done fighting it.”
“Yeah?” Her eyes were swimming with unshed tears now, and Dean answered her with another kiss, pulling her body flush against his own as he invaded her mouth. The pair only pulled apart when they could no longer fight the need for air. “Dean--”
“Yeah,” he breathed, dropping his grip on her to finish what she started with his belt. Y/n watched his movements, her breath getting caught in her throat as she watched him pull his length from its cotton confines. Dean signaled for her to turn with one hand as he stroked himself with the other. She obliged, of course, and Dean pushed her gently between her shoulder blades until her hands were pressed against the mirror. He nudged her legs to open a tad wider, meeting her gaze in the mirror.
“Do we--”
“I’m good if you’re good,” she told him, knowing where he was going with his question. He nodded to her before lining himself up with her entrance. Dean held her gaze as he entered her from behind, both of them sighing together as he became fully seated. Y/n closed her eyes as she tried to compose herself, her head falling between her arms.
“Fuck, open your eyes, look at yourself,” Dean was biting his tongue as he swatted her ass to get her to lift her head again. She indulged him, looking at herself in the mirror before turning her eyes back to his in the mirror. “There you go,” he praised her, the words like music to her ears as he pulled back out and slammed into her hips.
Dean set up a steady rhythm, careful to not shake the walls of the dressing too much with his movement. The couple kept their eyes on each other in the mirror, the moment the most erotic thing she could ever remember doing, but for the life of her, she couldn’t be bothered by it. Even from her vantage point, she could see how blown his pupils were, the black of his iris’ all but drowning out the green that she loved so much. To be honest, she wasn’t sure which she liked more now. All she did know was the feeling of him moving inside her and the way her muscles were shaking.
A small knock had Dean stilling his movements, and Y/n stood up, pressing her back against his chest. He slipped an arm around her chest as she signaled for him to be silent. “You doing alright in there?”
Y/n swallowed the lump in her throat and let out a breath, “Yeah,” she called back, afraid her voice would be too wrecked if she said anything else.
“Is there anything else I can get you? Maybe some different sizes?” The saleswoman tried again.
“Nope, I’m all set, thank you.”
“Okay, just let me know.” The sound of her footsteps could be heard retreating from the dressing room, and Dean pressed his face into her neck, the pair of them chuckling.
“Come on, sweetheart,” he adjusted their position, resuming the movement of his hips as he snaked his free hand down to rub against her clit. Y/n jolted in his arms at the contact, this time closing her eyes as he built her back up. “I’m right behind you. Can you come for me again?” Y/n nodded against him, her hands flying to his forearm as she felt herself jumping over the cliff, her mouth open in a silent scream. Her knees buckled and Dean had to adjust himself to keep her from falling, still fucking her from behind as her fluttering walls milked him to his own orgasm. He bit into her shoulder to keep himself from groaning out loud.
“Sweet Jesus,” her body went limp in his arms as the pair of them caught their breath in the now muggy space.
“Yeah, you are so not going out with that coroner tonight. We will find a different way.” Dean admitted as he pulled his now softening cock from her. Y/n flinched at the feeling and the subsequent rush of his release inside her.
“What?” She turned to him as he began righting himself, not understanding why he didn’t want her to do her job.
“‘Cause you are all mine now,” Dean tugged her into his chest, his fingers around one of her biceps. “And I want to spend all night making sure you can’t walk tomorrow.”
“Oh,” Dean laughed as she blinked at him, clearly lost for any sort of coherent answer to what he just told her.
“Get dressed so we can get out of here and kick Sammy out of our motel room.” Dean tapped her ass again and she pushed him away from her, a stupid grin on both of their faces.

The 1- Alex Schroeder x Reader
Word count:2219
Warnings:angst, tiniest hint of sweetness!
Summary: this is based off of the song "The 1" by Taylor Swift on her album Folklore. Alex and the reader go their separate ways and it just so happens that they never forget each other.
All rights and credit to the Queen miss Taylor Swift!
(Photo not mine!)
P.s: I highly suggest listening to the song while reading or before! If you don't want to that's totally fine, I hope you enjoy this while I finish my series for Tanner!
--
After high school you and your boyfriend of 4 years broke up. It crushed you to see him walk away, you really thought he was the one. You still remember the day it happened. The day Alex Schroeder broke your heart.
--
It was about a month after you graduated high school and you were extremely happy. It was a new beginning and you were starting it with the love of your life.
He was supposed to pick you up so you could to the movies and he would be there any minute. You heard a knock on the door and ran down the stairs to get it. You opened the door and there he stood, you could tell something wasn't right and it made your brows pull together.
"Alex, are you ok?" You asked with worry in your eyes. "Can I come in?" He answered your question with a question.
"Yeah of course you can, you always can." You told him and went to grab his hand but he pulled it away. You looked at him with a hurt and confused expression.
He looked anywhere but you as he walked into the house. "Let's go up stairs." He said before heading up. Your heart was racing and your mind swirled with questions.
You entered your room after him and shut the door.
"Alex, you need to tell me what's wrong. I'm worried." You informed him.
He sighed heavily and still looked anywhere but at you. "Look at me Al." You told him. He hesitated for a moment before looking at you. You saw what looked like guilt on his face.
"(Y/n), I don't want to hurt you I hope you know that." He said. Your stomach dropped, you hoped what you knew was coming wouldn't happen. "What do you mean Al?" You asked timidly.
"I hate to see you cry." He said.
"Alex. Just say it." You stated in impatient frustration.
He looked at you with sadness and regret before taking a shaky breath.
"I know it's hard to hear, and it's hard to say but I think it's for the best that we break up." He said as kindly as possible. You look at him with wide eyes, he could see the pain flood into them creating pools of water. He felt his heart sink at the sight of you so hurt and knowing it was him that caused your tears. He knew he was doing it for the best, but he also knew he wanted you still.
Tears ran down your cheeks as his words crawled under your skin. It was over, the best part of your life was over. The love that had held you so safely cast you aside and you had no idea why.
You looked at him and the only words you spoke were a question.
"Why?" Your voice was so small, so shattered. His breath caught in his throat when he heard the question. He noticed the way you stood with your arms crossed across your chest. He had learned that you only did that when you felt the need to be protected, when you wanted to guard your heart from anymore damage. He shut his eyes tightly and held back tears.
"Please tell me why..." you pleaded softly.
He walked closer to you and you fought the urge to back away from him. He stood in front of you not knowing whether to try and hold your hands or just let you be.
"We have different plans. We both want different things. I think it's best if we go our separate ways to be able to accomplish those things." He explained to you what he felt. He put it as simply and straightforward as he could.
He sees no anger in your eyes, you nod.
"If that's what you want then I'll respect that." You told him with trembling lips and a broken voice. He felt tears fall down his cheeks.
"It's for the best." He told you while trying to control te uneasiness in his voice.
You took a step back and let out a shaky sigh.
"Well when you get to where you're going don't forget me ok." You breathed out and stepped forward to place a kiss on his cheek for the last time.
When you pulled back you looked at him. His eyes were trained on you and you could see the sadness in them.
"I'd never forget you (y/n), ever." He reassured you.
You nodded at him and tried your best to smile.
"I hope you find what you're looking for." You said with finality.
"Goodbye (y/n/n)." He said before exiting the room.
When the door closed he could hear you start to cry and it caused his vision to blur with tears again knowing he just completely changed your life and his own.
You heard the front door close and you took a blurry look around your room. All the pictures you had with him and your friends. Your favorite stood proudly by your bed framed behind glass. The two of you were sitting under the bleachers with grass stained jeans and remnants of your strawberry lip gloss on his lips. Dakota took the picture after he and Tanner noticed you and Alex "sneak" away from the group. They made a joke about the lip gloss and it caused a smile to form on your face as Alex glared at them. That's how that picture came to be on your night stand.
You didn't pick it up and break it but you slipped it out of the frame to look at it. It made your heart break a little more at the memory and so you put it in a box filled with other special moments in time.
--
It had been years since that happened and you heart still ached. You looked at the TV and smile at the people you knew. Alex, Dakota, Tanner and Chelsea had their own show and it made your heart swell with pride knowing he found what he was looking for.
So had you.
You had an album that just came out and it was one of the things you were most proud of. There was a specific song on the album that reminded you of Alex. It was called The 1 and it was about him, it was about everything. Yo cried when you wrote it but it was a truly beautiful moment in the album process.
You wonder to yourself sometimes if he has heard it. If he knows...
--
"Hey Al, have you heard this album before?" Chelsea sits next to him.
"What is it?" He asked "it's called Folklore, and it's by (y/n) (y/l)." She said and raised her brow while looking at him. His eyes widened as he looked at her.
Are you serious? She did it?!" He questioned excitedly.
"Yeah she did." Chelsea smiled brightly. "Who did what?" Dakota asked as he and Tanner entered the room. "(Y/n) released an album!" Chelsea exclaimed. "Oh shit seriously?" Tanner asked excitedly.
"Yeah, and it's fucking amazing!" She exclaimed excitedly. Chelsea took her phone out and pulled up the album to show everyone. "Do you guys wanna hear it?" She asked with a big smile, they all nodded.
"Ok so the first song is called The 1, and I'm pretty sure it's about you Alex. Just listen." She explained and reached to grab a tissue. They all looked at her with slight concern. Alex could already tell it was gonna be hard to listen to. He was nervous about hearing especially seeing Chelsea grab a tissue obviously assuming she'd cry.
"Is that really necessary?" Alex asked. She just nodded. "I cry when I hear it sometimes leave me alone." She said. Alex put his hands up in defense while the other boys laughed.
"Ok everyone be quiet here we go!" She said as her thumb hovered over the play button. Alex took a deep breath as the music started.
"I'm doing good I'm on some new shit.
Been saying yes instead of no.
I thought I saw you at the bus stop I didn't though.
I hit the ground runnin' each night
I hit the Sunday matinee."
Your voice flowed through the phone speaker and Chelsea mouthed the words along with you. Alex was still trying to process that the song was about him and was trying to listen to the lyrics as carefully as possible.
"You know the greatest films of all time were never made.
I guess you never know never know
And if you wanted me you really should have showed."
They all glanced at Alex.
"And if you never bleed
You're never gonna grow
But it's alright now.
But we were something don't you think so?
Roarin' twenties tossing pennies in the pool
And if my wishes came true
It would've been you
In my defense I have none
For never leaving well enough alone
But it would've been fun
If you would've been the one."
The chorus ended.
It was just the beginning and Alex was already feeling his heart ache a bit at the memory of leaving you.
"I really loved the chorus." Tanner said "She's always been great with words. I remember she used to help me with my essays and stuff." Dakota said with a smile.
"Me too and she was a grade below me." Tanner said and chuckled.
"I had this dream you're doing cool shit
Having adventures on your own
You meet some woman on the internet and take her home."
"Well she's not wrong about the cool shit." Dakota said. They all chuckled and looked at Alex. They could all see he was lost in thought. They could tell he was trying to process everything.
"We never painted by the numbers baby but we were making it count.
You know the greatest loves of all time are over now.
I guess you never know never know
And it's another day waking up alone.
But we were something don't you think so?
Roarin' twenties tossing pennies in the pool
And if my wishes came true it would've been you
In my defense I have none
For never leaving well enough alone
But it would've been fun if you would've been the one."
You always used to call him baby and it made his heart ache hearing your voice use the word again. Knowing you were talking about him. All of it made him think about the time you and he were barely apart.
"I persist and resist the temptation to ask if you if one thing had been different would everything be different today?"
At the question he closed his eyes tightly thinking about it as if he really had to answer you.
He hears a sniffle and his eyes snap toward where the sound came from. Chelsea had tears in her eyes. They all look at her in concern. "You ok Chels?" Her brother asked.
"Yeah, yeah I'm ok just that part makes me really emotional because I know what she's talking about because she told me everything. She always told me everything.
I just know how much it means to her, and how much it would mean to her knowing you've heard it Al. She loves you, I can hear it.
"We were something don't you think so?
Rosé flowin' with your chosen family.
And it would've been sweet
If it could've been me."
Alex started to tear up a bit as well. The room was silent interrupted only by your soothing voice through a speaker.
"It was you, it should've been you..." he mumbled to himself. Little did he know that all of his friends had heard him and it made their hearts ache for him. They knew how in love you both were and it hurt so badly to find out that you were no longer together. One piece of the chain that held them together was broken off.
And they had no idea what to do.
"In my defense I have none
For diggin' up the grave another time
But it would've been fun
If you would've been the one."
The song came to an end and everything was silent.
Alex was so proud of you, but there was a huge part of him that had been dying to get to the top with each other. You were the one, and to you so was he.
Chelsea and the boys waited for a few seconds as they watched their friend crack. They could feel the regret roll off of him. They could feel that there was still love there and they were so sure that you were the ones made for each other.
--
It was days later when a tweet popped up on your timeline that tagged you in it. You opened the app just to see that the person who tagged you was Alex. He posted his high praise for the album and pride he held for you. He said.
"We were something don't you think so? I remember throwing our pennies in the pool. I want you to know. You're still my one." You teared up as you looked at the screen. Little did he know, he's was still your one.
The 1.

Clandestine: Chapter Nine
Another cliffhanger? Me? Nah.
All characters belong to @lumosinlove
@donttouchmycarrots is the best and I love her so much. She also inspired a lot of this chapter’s angst, so it’s not all my fault this time! <3
CW: violence, blood/injuries, guns/gun violence

Sirius woke up alone. This in and of itself wasn’t unusual, until he remembered the events of the night before. Wandering hands, soft, needy sighs, and warm lips that kissed him and kissed him and kissed him. He rolled onto his stomach and smothered himself with his pillow to hide the smile that took over his entire face, heart beating giddily in his chest. That happened.
Holy shit.
But that begged the question: where was he?
Sirius stayed in bed for a few moments, thinking that maybe Remus was coming back, but then he got too impatient and crawled out of bed to go searching. If he was camped out in front of that laptop again this early… but no. He was standing in front of the stove, prodding at the contents of a frying pan. The smell of coffee reached Sirius and he smiled again as he entered the kitchen, making sure his footsteps were loud enough for Remus to hear - that way it wasn’t a surprise when he came to stand behind Remus and wrapped his arms around his waist, hooking his chin on his shoulder to watch what was happening on the stove.
A general rule of dating a spy - don’t sneak up on them. It tends to end badly.
“Morning.” Sirius mumbled, turning his head to press a lingering kiss to a tendon in Remus’ neck and smiling against warm skin. Remus hummed, leaning back into Sirius’ chest and angling his neck to give him better access. That simple, innocuous motion stole Sirius’ breath. Remus didn’t trust easily - Sirius could understand why, given everything he’d been through. But there he was, relaxed against Sirius, eyes closed, completely trusting. Sirius wasn’t exactly sure what to do with something so precious, but damn he really didn’t want to screw this up. So he continued to place kiss after kiss to Remus’s skin, finding a ticklish spot right below his ear that made him laugh and squirm in Sirius’ arms before he shoved him away, a wide, happy smile on his face.
Had Sirius ever been this happy before? He doubted it.
“So what’s for breakfast, chef?” He asked, peering at the frying pan. Remus turned the stove off and grabbed plates from the cabinet by the fridge while Sirius grabbed silverware and napkins. It was incredibly domestic. Sirius couldn’t get enough of it.
“Scrambled eggs, toast, and coffee. Nothing gourmet, but it’s the best I can do.” He answered as he scooped eggs out of the frying pan and grabbed toast from the toaster, then handed the plate to Sirius. They took their plates to the tiny kitchen table, along with the coffee and creamer and jams before sitting down to eat.
It was… nice. Their relationship had changed a lot the night before, but it was easy - a seamless transition from friends to more. He’d always assumed there would be some awkwardness with a big change like that, but it felt normal. Remus still teased him for how he took his coffee, Sirius still kicked him for it. They went over their plans for the day and what they wanted to get done. The ease of it all made Sirius wonder just how long they’d been teetering over that precipice.
It also made him feel guilty, how happy he was when his brother was still trapped with the Snakes and Finn still missing. Remus seemed to recognize his shift in emotion and smiled sadly, reaching across the table to tangle their hands together.
“We’re going to figure something out.” He said quietly before taking a sip of coffee, not once letting go of Sirius’ hand but playing with his fingers absentmindedly. It made it a bit tricky to eat, but Sirius couldn’t say he minded one bit.
He hoped Remus was right.
***
“Update?” Talker asked as soon as Remus and Sirius entered the office, looking tired. He kept pace with them as they walked, eager for a response. He and Finn were pretty close, constantly cracking jokes and trading jabs and playing pranks. But then again, Finn was a very outgoing guy - he was pretty close with a lot of people.
Sure enough, as they rounded the corner they found a gathering of people outside Remus’ office, all friends. All worried.
And a stranger standing next to Kasey, watching them as they approached. Red hair, brown eyes, faint freckles.
Remus didn’t have to ask who he was.
He stuck his hand out for the agent to shake. “O’Hara.”
Alex shook his hand briefly, soulful eyes a myriad of warring emotions. “Please tell me what the hell is going on.”
Remus looked at him, then the rest of the people around his office. They all needed to know what was going on, but he felt like Alex deserved the chance to hear this on his own, without the prying eyes of a bunch of strangers.
Sirius seemed to know exactly what he needed. It was like a sixth sense. “Lions, to the conference room! I’ll tell you what we know.” He gave Remus a warm smile, one that he was helpless to return. Last night was… blinding, as strange as it sounded. Sirius was all he could see now - the bright, expressive eyes, full, addictive lips, and wow he needed to get off this train of thought quickly. He had important things to do today.
Sirius seemed to know exactly what was on his mind. His smile turned secretive and sly before he shot Remus a wink and led the way to the conference room, leaving only Alex. Remus looked at him, then jerked his head towards his office. Alex followed after him and instantly sat down in one of the extra chairs, eyes never leaving Remus. He looked tired, worried, desperate for answers.
Remus sighed, an ache in his chest. He couldn’t imagine what it must be like for him, dealing with his younger brother being kidnapped. If it was Jules, Remus would lose his mind. “Let’s just start at the beginning, ok?” And so he did. He went over the general premise of the mission, what they’d done so far, and what went wrong. Alex listened quietly, taking it in.
When they were finally caught up Alex leaned back in his chair, raking a hand through his hair - a motion that was so Finn that Remus had to hold his breath for a second before releasing it. “So do we have any leads? What’s the plan?”
“We’ve got three possible locations. We’re going to try to narrow it down and then send in the two operatives we’ve already got in Slytherin.”
“Finn’s partners.”
There was something about the way Alex said that. The wrinkle in his brow, eyes hard and unflinching. Unforgiving. Remus gave him a look, keeping his voice neutral. “It was a freak accident, O’Hara. Not their fault.”
He wasn’t brave enough to tell the agent how much of that fault rested on his own shoulders. He was basically in charge of this mission. He’d been the one in charge of planning, giving them the go-ahead, looking out for signs of danger. There were signs of the op going bad - he could see that now, in hindsight. But hindsight was always 20/20, wasn’t it?
And now he was sitting here, explaining to the brother of the agent he let get kidnapped that they didn’t really have a solid plan. They were still scattered and struggling to recollect themselves after that disaster of a mission. What exactly was he supposed to say?
Alex ignored his earlier attempt at placation. “You’re telling me that your plan is to send one agent and a rookie safe-cracker into Snakes headquarters and break my brother out? That’s all you’ve got?”
“The rest of us are already on their radar. If we sent in other agents-”
“Bullshit.” Alex growled, leaning forward dangerously. And really, Remus couldn’t fault him for any of this. Their bond ran deep, apparently. “You’re taking down the Snakes anyways, what’s wrong with pushing up the timeline a little? We don’t need to be covert anymore, we need to be dominant and aggressive.”
“That makes your brother collateral damage,” Remus reasoned. “We go in guns-blazing, the first thing they’ll do is make it a hostage situation.”
Alex sighed, his shoulders slumping and all the fight leaving him in a split-second, frustration rolling off him in waves. “Fuck.”
“We’ve got an ex-Snake on the team and a guy on the inside. Potentially,” he felt like he had to add, because he still wasn’t sure what to think of the younger Black brother. Sirius trusted him, sure, but was that enough?
One wrong move and they could lose three agents. This required precision and cunning, not hot-headed recklessness.
“We’re going to do our best to get him out of there.” Remus finally finished, trying to instill confidence with just the words. Alex just smiled sadly.
“Good media answer, right there.”
Remus’ phone buzzed twice in his pocket, signaling an incoming message. He fumbled with it for a second, then looked down at the screen. “Well, I might have a better answer in a few minutes. One of his partners says they’ve got news.”
Remus just hoped it was finally some good news.

Logan was still pacing - back and forth, back and forth. It wasn’t a stressed pace this time, exactly. His stride was longer, full of pent-up energy and restlessness. Leo was switching between watching him and reading the messages Regulus sent the night before to Loops and Sirius, who were both listening intently.
“So let me get this straight.” Remus said through the computer speakers. “Regulus said he’d turn off one of the cameras that overlooks a side door, sneak you two in, and then help you get both him and Finn out?” He and Sirius were sitting close together at the conference table, sneaking glances at each other when they thought no one was looking.
Leo smiled knowingly. Good for them.
“Yeah.” Logan said as he continued to pace. “Get in, get them, get out. Simple.”
“Well,” Leo said, stretching out the word and watching Logan’s eyes snap to him. Yeah, he wasn’t going to like this. “According to Reg, one of Riddle’s flash drives is there too - in a safe in his office. Logan can get Finn, and I can-”
“No.”
“Logan,” Leo sighed, giving him a look. “After we get Finn out, they’ll put that place on lockdown. We won’t get another shot at getting this drive and you know it. Plus Riddle’s not even there right now. It’s the perfect opportunity.”
“When did he even tell you that?” Logan asked, staring at him incredulously. “I don’t remember this at all.”
“That would be because I’ve been texting him this morning because I knew you’d react like this.” Leo rushed to finish his sentence and be heard over Logan’s loud dissent.
“React how? Logically?”
“Over-protectively.” Leo corrected, watching the aggravation return to his pacing again as he grumbled something under his breath. “If we get this drive, that only leaves the ones Lestrange and Riddle have on them. Reg said he could probably grab the one Bellatrix has - he can replace it with the fake I slipped into his pocket at the gala-”
“Nut, you can’t be serious.”
Leo glared at him. “It’s a perfectly solid plan.”
“And it’s dangerous!”
“Are you forgetting what our jobs are?” Leo asked with an incredulous laugh. “Everything we do is dangerous.”
“Leo.”
The blond looked to the laptop, where Sirius and Loops were looking back at him. “Back me up here.”
Remus glanced over at Sirius, then back to Leo. “It’s risky, but if you feel like you can do it-”
“I can.” Leo said, no room for argument. The kid who was nervously drumming his fingers against his thigh and staring off into space before his first mission was long gone, replaced by a calm, confident agent - who still drummed his fingers on a regular basis, but who was self-assured and comfortable with his role. Logan wasn’t exactly sure when that had happened, but he was proud nonetheless - even if he was still terrified.
“When’s Reg going for Lestrange’s drive?” Sirius asked, in a similar state as Logan. Worried, but knowing he was fighting a losing battle. This was happening whether they liked it or not.
“She puts it in the same spot every night before she goes to bed, so he’ll grab it right before we get there when she’s already asleep. If we go really early in the morning - like really early - everyone should be asleep, save for a few.”
“They’re cocky like that,” Sirius added, “No one’s ever been dumb enough to try to break in, so they won’t be as prepared for it.”
Leo frowned, not sure whether to take offense or not. “Thanks?”
“So how long do you think getting into the safe will take?” Remus asked, keeping all of them on track, as usual. The steadiness and predictability calmed Logan down, just a little.
Leo shrugged. “Don’t know, depends on what kind of safe it is. Reg doesn’t know.”
“So you’re going in blind.” Logan finished, anxiety churning in his gut. That calmness had lasted all of three seconds. He didn’t like this. There was so much that could go wrong; it was risky enough sneaking in to get Finn out of there, but adding this on top of it? What if one of them got caught? What if all of them got caught? What if Regulus wasn’t as trustworthy as Sirius claimed? What if they were just walking into another trap?
What if, what if, what if. There were too many variables to this, too much at risk.
He’d never really hated his job before. In the past he’d loved the suspense, the intrigue, the unpredictability. He’d grown up wanting a career that had action and adventure, just like the movies he and his sisters used to watch. Now all the things he used to love were the things that were stressing him out the most. But then, he’d never had partners before - definitely not partners he was halfway in love with.
He was starting to hate this job now.
Leo’s voice brought him back to the conversation. “Not really. It’s either going to be a digital safe or manual. I’d crack a digital safe the same way I cracked the ones at the banks, and manual safes are kind of like giant locks. I just feel for the sticking points and do the math.”
“There’s math?” Sirius asked, looking disgusted. Logan thought back to Finn saying the exact same words, all three of them squished together on the bed with a nature documentary playing in the background, warm and content and relaxed. No stress, no sense of impending disaster, no one missing.
He wanted that again, more than anything.
He felt like this wasn’t the way to do it, though. Which was ironic, seeing that he was the one who usually wanted to be reckless. That was his M.O. - the rough, hotheaded agent who wasn’t afraid to take some risks. He completely changed his tune when those risks endangered his partners.
He couldn’t lose them - either of them. He wasn’t sure what he’d do if...
But arguing against this rescue mission was like leading a horse to water - pointless. The only thing left to do was to prepare. So Logan tuned the conversation out and started planning for every possible outcome he could think of. He wasn’t going to be left just reacting, not this time. He was going into this with every last detail mapped out, every potential misstep accounted for, every contingency plan organized in his head.
He wasn’t going to let anything go wrong. He couldn’t.
***
The alarm Leo and Logan had set was essentially useless, seeing that it found the two of them already awake, going over the plan in their heads. Logan stretched his arm out to shut it off, then rolled over to look at Leo. Blue eyes were already staring back, alight with optimism- a stark contrast to how Logan was feeling. He just hoped tonight wasn’t the night he would be disappointed.
“We’re going to get him back.” The blond said, no sleepiness to his voice as he softly leaned in to kiss Logan sweetly, then more enthusiastically. Logan let himself get lost in it for a while, a heart-wrenching distraction, accepting kiss after excited kiss with a sigh against soft lips. He took the lead a second later, pushing Leo back into the mattress and pressing their chests together, getting as close as he could manage and relaxing into the warmth.
“And then we’ll all be together again.” He added after a while, trying to reassure both Leo and himself as he kissed a dimple and earned a smile, bright in the early-morning darkness. “And we can finally have that talk.”
Leo hummed happily and pulled him down for one last lingering kiss before shimmying his way out from under Logan and getting to his feet, hair an absolute mess from a night of tossing and turning and Logan’s hands. Logan felt strangely proud of himself for that.
“Let’s go, let’s go, let’s go.” Leo chanted, dashing to his suitcase to grab clothes. His enthusiasm visibly shown in every action - brushing his teeth, pulling on his shoes, grabbing his tools. Logan soon found himself dressed and ready to go, turning his earpiece on and testing his mic. His gun was loaded and ready, a comforting weight at his hip. Leo’s voice echoed in his ear as he tested his mic, loud and clear. His tools were all packed up and smuggled away in his pockets, determination written across his face.
They were going to get him back.
Logan pulled up the directions to the address Regulus had sent them and they hurried to their car, blasting the heat as high as it would go to try and defrost the windows. The clock read 4:13 am as they pulled out of the hotel parking lot and headed down the street.
The drive was tense with anticipation and nerves and adrenaline. Leo’s leg never stopped bouncing from the passenger’s seat as he stared out the window, clearly lost in thought because it was still pitch black outside - he definitely wasn’t looking at anything. Logan kept his eyes on the road ahead and his thoughts on their mission, going over the details one last time as the navigation app instructed him to turn right.
The building they were infiltrating was on the very outskirts of Slytherin, somewhat secluded and run-of-the-mill. If Logan wasn’t sure this was the right place, he would never have guessed this to be a Snakes’ building. Which was probably exactly what they were going for.
Logan drove straight past the building, continuing down the road for a while until he figured they wouldn’t raise suspicion. He put the car in park, switched the headlights off, then turned to face his partner.
“You ready?”
The resulting grin was luminous. “You know it.”
Logan nodded, nerves gnawing away at his stomach, and got out of the car. He and Leo snuck around to the southeast side of the building where they found a door, the light above it flickering occasionally. Leo sent Logan a look, then rapped on the door with his knuckles twice.
A few seconds passed by, then the door opened silently. Regulus Black stared back at them, face as impassive as always. The two agents stepped inside without another word, watching as Regulus closed the door behind them and locked it before turning to face them again.
“I’ve got Bellatrix’s drive,” he said, so quietly that Leo and Logan had to lean in a little to hear him. “Snagged it about twenty minutes ago and replaced it with the fake. She’ll never know the difference.”
“Perfect.” Leo grabbed Logan’s forearm, eyes bright and intense. “You go get Finn, I’ll grab the drive. Meet you back at the rendezvous.”
Logan still didn’t like the idea. He didn’t like the thought of being separated. “Leo-”
“No one’s out this early, it’ll be the easiest grab of my life. I’ll be careful - I’ll be so careful, Tremz. You gotta trust me.” He pressed their foreheads together briefly and Logan allowed himself that one moment to close his eyes and press back, inhaling deeply. He still smelled like the hotel’s shampoo, clean and citrusy. After all this, Logan didn’t think he’d ever be able to forget the smell - or the memories that came with it. He couldn’t quite figure out if that was a bad thing or not. Because on the one hand, there was stress and kidnappings and hurt. But on the other hand, there was exciting, brand new kisses and falling asleep in his arms and the comfort of just being with him.
“Make it quick, ok?” he said finally, reluctantly leaning away and meeting blue eyes. Leo nodded, giving his hand a squeeze, and turned to set off down the hallway. Logan only allowed himself half a second to look after him - if he watched any longer, he just knew he’d start chasing after him, blindly following an angel and not caring where he was going. He’d probably follow him anywhere, if he could. He faced Regulus again instead, who was looking decidedly awkward. Logan just raised an eyebrow at him and motioned for him to lead the way.
His heart hammered louder and louder the more they walked, excitement and worry and adrenaline snowballing together and making his head spin. He could hear Leo’s quiet breathing through the coms, measured and steady and constant like the tide pushing and pulling against the shore. That, more than anything he tried to tell himself, calmed him down.
They reached a nondescript door and stopped in front of it. Logan glanced at Regulus, then back at the door. This was it. Finn was on the other side of that door. He was a paradoxical combination of excited and terrified of what he’d find on the other side of that door.
“I’m just going to wait out here,” Regulus said, moving so that his back was against the wall. “I’ve already witnessed you all soft and mushy tonight - I don’t think I can handle seeing it again. I’ll keep an eye out from here.”
Logan sent him a grin, incredibly pleased with himself and completely unashamed.
He took one last, deep breath and opened the door.
The sound of the door must have woken Finn, because the first thing Logan saw was the shifting of shoulder and back muscles as the redhead sat up with an annoyed grumble. “What the fuck is so important that you feel the need to wake me up this early?” He demanded, reaching up to further tousle his hair as he swiveled around to face the door. Their eyes locked and Finn froze, staring at him with his mouth agape and wide, wide brown eyes, one of which was blackened and swollen. There was blood at the corner of his mouth, dark and distracting. Logan’s breath left him in a rush, like he’d been the one punched in the face.
“Lo,” Finn whispered, that one syllable barely loud enough to reach Logan’s ears. He sat up straighter in an instant and continued to stare, as if he couldn’t quite believe his eyes. “Logan?”
That was all it took to spur Logan into action. He crossed the room in five quick paces and then he was on his knees in front of Finn, reaching for him hesitantly. Finn practically launched himself at him, arms around his neck and holding tight - almost bruisingly. Logan didn’t care. He’d gladly take the bruises if it meant having his partner in his arms again. It hadn’t even been that long since Logan had seen him, but it felt like an entire lifetime. He hugged Finn closer, probably holding him too tight, before leaning back and looking him over. Frantic hands passed over skin and clothing, feeling for injuries.
“You ok?” He asked, reaching up to tilt Finn’s face so that he could examine the black eye and split lip. Calloused fingers traced gingerly over constellations of freckles, marred by purples and greens and yellows. “God, Finn-”
Finn laughed a little, reaching up to still Logan’s hand and pressing it to his stubbled cheek instead. Logan could feel his smile against his palm and melted. “I’m ok. It looks worse than it actually is, I’m sure.”
You’re still gorgeous, Logan thought as he swiped a thumb across his cheek. He wanted to drown in the sight in front of him. Finn wasn’t great but he was ok and considering the circumstances, that was all Logan could really ask for. He was still livid, of course. And the ones who’d hurt Finn would get what was coming for them. That much he could guarantee.
“You shouldn’t be here.” Finn murmured, still leaning into Logan’s touch. Logan just shook his head firmly, eyes serious. How did Finn expect him to leave him behind? He clearly had no idea just how little they could function without him, the gaping hole he’d left in his absence.
Finn looked over Logan’s shoulder, then back to Logan with worried eyes. “Leo?” He asked and let Logan help him to his feet, favoring his left leg. Logan tightened his grip on his biceps and steadied him before answering.
“Currently? In Riddle’s office cracking a safe.”
Leo’s voice, calm and even, came through the coms. “Tell Finn I said hey.” Logan grinned.
“He says hey.”
Finn looked offended. He leaned closer to the mic Logan was wearing at the collar of his shirt, making the brunet still. The expression on his face - a comical combination of panic and turned-on - made Finn smile as he spoke. “You’re breaking me out of here after I was kidnapped and the only thing you can think of to say is hey?”
“Well, I was planning on saving the sentimental shit for when I actually see you.” Leo said distractedly from his spot on the floor in front of a truly ancient safe, rotating the dial slowly and feeling for the last remaining sticking point. “It’s good to hear your voice, though.”
He heard Logan relay the message to Finn, and then Finn’s resulting coo. Leo laughed under his breath at the sound right as the safe opened with a loud click, opening to reveal nothing inside but a blue and gray flash drive.
“I can’t believe this is the only thing he keeps in a safe like this.” Leo grumbled, reaching forward to make the switch-
Right as the office door opened.
Leo whirled around, slipping the real flash drive into his pocket as he faced whoever had walked in on him.
Unnatural yellow eyes stared back.
And a gun was pointed at his chest.
He could tell Riddle recognized him from the party by the curl of his lips that formed the beginnings of a smile. Cold dread washed over Leo at the bizarre sight. He wasn’t sure anyone had seen the leader of the Snakes smile before. If they did, they hadn’t lived to tell the tale. Leo’s heart raced as all he could do was stand there and stare. His gun sat heavily at his hip, but he knew reaching for it would only speed up the inevitable. He stayed still.
Leo’s partners were still talking over the coms, happy and ignorant of the situation going on right down the hall from them. As Leo stared down the barrel of a gun, he thought maybe it was for the best. Riddle wouldn’t react well to breaking Finn out of here, he knew that much. At least this would be a good distraction - if Riddle was focused on him, he wouldn’t be focused on his partners. Maybe they’d be able to get out of here before Riddle even realized the real reason Leo was in the building.
He’d rather die than give either of them up. He was a little scared at the honesty behind that statement… and the likelihood of it happening much sooner than he’d hoped.
Riddle adjusted his sights without saying a single word, finger against the trigger. Leo sucked in a harsh breath and braced himself.
Bang.

poison & wine pt. one
“I know everything you don’t want me to.”
warnings: angst, cursing
pairing: detective loki x fem reader
word count: 1,378
A/N: I’ve read and reread what seems like every detective loki fic and I’ve decided it’s my turn. I’m still relatively new with writing series, but I’m very proud of this. Enjoy, feedback is greatly appreciated! (if you find a grammar mistake, let me know)
REWRITE MASTERLIST
⌽ 2 3 4 5 6
You hated the rain. It was cold and wet, always sending a bone-chilling cold through you. It reminded you of too many bad memories. Hospitals, pain, and blood. Yet all it seemed to do in Conyers was rain.
You sat across from Loki while you were toying with your fried rice inside of the vacant restaurant. This was yours and Loki’s spot, always seeming to end up here at least once a week for the past five years. You grew to hate the food but it was a constant in yours and Loki’s life and you refused to mess that up. Too many memories have been made in this shitty restaurant, good and bad.
Neither you nor David cared much for Thanksgiving and you couldn’t be bothered to cook for just the two of you. It was too depressing, so Chinese food it was. The waitress came to your table with the check and hot tea, Loki reaching for the check before you could. Not once has he ever let you pay for a meal. Even when he could barely afford socks.
“Happy Thanksgiving, detectives.” You wondered if she was waiting on you two to leave for her to go home to relax and celebrate the holiday. You felt bad, considering you and Loki were the only ones there, like usual.
Loki mutters a ‘thanks’ into his coffee cup before continuing, “Do you have any of the fortune-cookie things?”
The waitress looks at Loki with a smirk, “My boss told me cops don’t like fortune cookies.” Classic.
David looks down at the zodiac placemat, “What year were you born? Are you a dragon, or a snake, a horse, or a sheep?”
“I’m a monkey.” The waitress ogled David who was barely paying attention to her. You knew he would never act on her advances, he was too caught up in whatever the two of you were. Lovers, roommates, co-workers, family. He was everything to you and vice versa.
Both you and Loki look down to read, Loki responds, “Oh, you’re a monkey. You’re very intelligent. You have the ability to influence people. Think maybe you could influence your boss to lower the check a little bit?” He was flirting. Sometimes you thought that he doesn’t even know he’s doing it. It’s how he charmed you all those years ago. Both of you young and dumb; too young to know any better or any different.
The waitress brings you out of your head, “No, I cannot. My boss is a rooster.”
Again, both you and Loki look down to inspect as the waitress walks away. Selfish and eccentric. Nice, reminds me of Captain O’Malley.
Loki looks at you with a genuine smile before asking, “What’s your zodiac? I forget.” You loved it when he smiled, he didn’t do it enough. You couldn’t really blame him though, neither did you.
“Well, considering it’s tattooed on your hand, I feel like you should remember. I’m a horse also a cancer, whichever way you want to look at it.” He had gotten the tattoos a month after it.
Loki laughs and looks down again, “Energetic, passionate, and aspirant. I’d say that’s pretty accurate for you.”
You laugh, “Yeah, what’s yours?” You already knew the answer, it was tattooed into your skin years ago along with two other zodiac symbols next to it. Never allowing you to abandon Conyers or David. You were forever tied to it all, inked permanently.
Loki looks at you, his eyes teasing, “I’m gonna give you the same line. Considering it’s tattooed on your collarbone, I feel like you should remember.”
Before you could respond, both yours and Loki’s phones interrupt with a call. Two missing girls, fuck.
The rain is coming down in sheets as you step out of Loki’s car. You pull your raincoat tighter as you follow David to the RV that was called in surrounded by cops at the edge of the woods.
You take your radio out of your pocket, “13-40 and 13-43 engaging with the suspect. Be advised.”
You creep along with Loki towards the RV as the driver revs the engine, tail lights flashing red against you. The RV violently backs up, Loki instructing everyone to not shoot. The driver changes gears, driving forward and slamming into a tree. You advance forward, gun in hand along with a flashlight. Arriving at the door of the RV, Loki takes your flashlight, “Stay here, keep watch.”
Loki entered the vehicle while you and other officers stood by, waiting. The door opens violently, Loki throwing the suspect out. The man stumbles as Loki takes hold of his jacket, dragging him further into the woods. You followed silently, letting David handle him. He never was gentle with cases when children were involved.
Loki yelled at the man with no response, only a blank stare. David shoved him forward, falling at your feet, “What the fuck is this guy on?”
You take his forearm and haul him to his feet, instructing an officer to take him to the station while David called out for someone to call PSP. This case was already bad. Fear, and pain already settling into your bones.
You sat in the interrogation room while Loki had the suspect, Alex Jones, backed against a corner. The interrogation had been going on for 2 hours and nothing useful has been said and Loki was getting impatient. You could see it in the way he squinted his eyes and the tension in his shoulders. He needed a break before he exploded.
“Detective, let me try. Take a break.” Loki looks over his shoulder at you, frustrated. He knew you were right but he didn’t want to give up. With a hard sigh, he left the room. Alex visibly relaxed as Loki left.
You had your suspicions about Alex’s cognitive abilities by the way he was speaking, you wouldn’t be able to confirm until the psychologist arrived. Your best bet was to speak as if you were speaking to a child, “Alex, would you like to sit down with me?”
Alex nodded his head, slowly shuffling towards the chair sat across from you. He visibly trembled as he sat down.
“Alex, is it okay with you if I ask you some questions?”
Alex only nodded, “What were you doing today with the RV?”
Alex speaks softly, voice cracking, “Just driving.”
You sigh, “Yeah, I like drives. Was today a special day to drive?” You did not like drives, you preferred not to. David had always been the driver between the two of you.
Alex shakes his head no. You couldn’t help but feel bad for the boy. He had no idea what was going on, however, you quickly shoved that thought down, he was a suspect in the case of two missing little girls.
“Okay Alex, I’m going to step out for a minute to give you a break, I know this is all different and scary. Let me know if you need anything.” With that, you left the room. You turned towards the interrogation viewing room door where you knew Loki already was watching your questioning.
As soon as you step foot in the room, Loki snaps at you, “What was that? You were too soft, we won’t get anywhere with that.”
You scoff. David was good at his job but he had a habit of going too far, “No, I wasn’t. You scaring him speechless isn’t going to get us anywhere either. Let me do my job the way I need to and I’ll let you do yours.”
Loki knew you were right so instead of protesting, he went to go talk to the forensics team, leaving you alone in the room with your thoughts. This case was going to be bad for the both of you, you already knew that. You needed to keep your head on straight and keep composure, if you didn’t, this case was going to consume and eat you alive. It was bound to happen, your good luck as partners was going to run out one day and you hoped this case wasn’t it.
You walk back to your desk in hopes to find David when you look outside to see it’s still raining. Stupid fucking rain.

World Revelations
@etherealsxnder
Warnings; spoilers for season 13, mentions of death, angst, lack of hope, some Alex Calvert x reader, and tiny bit of jack x reader, swearing, brief illusions to sex, angry brothers, mentions of a sex scene, insecurities, online hate, protective winchester brothers, apocalypse world, major character death, lucifer
(Y/A/N) – Your Acting Name.
A/N; it’s a little bit different from the request, so sorry about that, but I hope that any one that reads this enjoys. Also sorry about the wait, I had bad writers block, but when I started writing this it sorta figured itself out and I may have got carried away. Feel free to tell me what you think ☺️
“Look, I am not going to some other world to help stop Michael. But I can help you in another way, one where none of us get harmed.” Gabriel shrugged, reducing Sam’s expression to confusion. The archangel had felt like their last hope at retrieving their mother, into delving into the apocalypse world, and here he was, turning him down.
He had tried his very best to make the celestial being better, and here he was, talking again, able to use his grace rather than have it removed and syringed into a demon’s veins. However, he still refused, and the hunter had no other plan in forcing Gabriel into helping. This was the last shot, and it had been blown.
But however could he still help? This was the primary problem that had to be solved, there was no other route they could take to bring their family back together. And that was all that mattered in this life, saving people, remaining together.
“What are you talking ab-“ Before Sam could complete his question, Gabriel set him with a poised glare, and snapped his magical fingers, a spark of electric blue grace sparking from the action. That was all Sam saw before he felt himself transported, and once he opened his eyes, he remained in the bunker, however there were cameras around him, and an entire filming crew.
Gabriel had sent him to the other life, another world in which he presumed that he was called Jared. “What the hell Sammy?” Dean barked from beside him, twisting and turning his sights around, upon realising that although this looked like their home, it was an alternate version of it. A set, made of fake walls and truthless literature that was not at all necessary in this peaceful, monster-less realm. “Son of a bitch!”
“Cut!” One of the cameramen called out, shaking his head exasperatedly at the line said wrong. Jensen had been doing so well, and Jensen seemed to have slipped far too into character, to the point where he had forgotten his lines. “Do you need to see the script again, or would you rather take a short break?”
“I’ll go for the break.” Dean confirmed, grabbing Sam’s forearm and hastily dragging him from the onlookers, and towards which he assumed was his, well, Jensen’s trailer. It looked pretty much the same as last time. “Gabriel?” He asked, rightly assuming that the blame of this mishap ordeal was down to the glowing figure.
“He refused to help us open a rift.” Sam licked his lips, his eyes jutting around the luxurious space. “And then he snapped his fingers, and we were here.” Here, another earth. However this was not their home, it was a disfigured writing of it, if anything, it was worse than the books Chuck wrote. There were more fans, and more complications that came along with being here in place of the actors.
“We don’t have time for his tricks.” Sighed Dean, raking his hair with his rough hand. “Parading around as a painted whore is not on my agenda, all I care about is getting mum back, we have to get home quick.”
“Dean, I don’t think that this is a trick…” Sam spoke to his elder brother, in thought of Gabriel’s words. “He said he could help us in another way. I don’t think he meant taking us away from the problem, there must be something else.” No matter how much he rolled the idea around his head, he could come to no conclusion.
“What?” There was already plenty on the man’s mind, he didn’t need another incident coming their way. Dean was to begin speaking again, until a knock rapped against the door to his double’s trailer, intruding his mindset. Him and Sam shared a glance and frown until Dean called whomever was on the other side in, and to their dismay, he looked exactly like Castiel.
Misha Collins. Last time they had visited this place, he had died, but the return of the real selves must have somewhat fixed the timeline, he looked well, even if he still was dressed as their angelic friend. “Hey, I was seeing if you are ready for the scene tomorrow.”
“Scene? Which scene?” ‘Jared’ asked the colleague of his false identity, unaware of the context in which Misha spoke in. Dean only huffed and rolled his eyes, until Misha spoke, and he froze, both the brothers understanding Gabriel’s meaning for sending them to this world.
“(Y/N)’s death scene. Apparently it’s gonna be quite emotional, and it’ll be strange after, not having the kid on set anymore.” It was a revelation, a nightmare that foreshadowed the truth in their own dimension.
“Thanks uh- Misha.” ‘Jensen’ rubbed his hand over his face, shocked by the oncoming doom. They had already lost far too many members in their makeshift hunter family, but this was different. This was their sister, whom they had protected and vouched to continue doing since the day she was born. And now the universe had this grand plan of cutting her young life short, and sending her to either heaven or hell, where so many people they loved already were.
“Do you know where um, (Y/A/N) is right now?” Sam asked, desperate to somehow convince her to remain on the show. It was the only way in which he could save his younger sibling, and he would, by the gods, do anything that he possibly could. Him and Dean had already had meetings with death himself, he couldn’t allow the new version to come and take you.
Billy would not compromise, she was intent on having a Winchester under her cloak, forever taken from life, never to return to the living. And they couldn’t take a chance, any chance on not getting (Y/N) back, she was a legacy as were they, but she was supposed to live on for longer. Their names would otherwise be nothing more than memories in the world of hunters, until they faded into distant and dead members of the community.
“In her trailer, I think. She’s rehearsing with Alexander I think.” The name that he mentioned was unfamiliar to the unfitting pair, but they spared no thought to it. Instead they sent him a quick smile before leaving the confines that they felt trapped in, and began their search for the actress of their sister.
“We have to change her mind Sammy. If she stays on the show, then our (Y/N) lives. It is the simplest solution.” Dean spoke as they walked through the lines of trailers, unable to find the name that they were searching for on any door. “Where the hell is her damn trailer?”
Sam squinted, until a name he had heard was seen on one of the doors. Alexander, whoever that was. Before he could even put any thought into his actions, he subconsciously knocked on the door, waiting a moment for an answer. And when the door opened, they were met with who looked like Jack, his hair a mess, and his shirt hanging over his shoulder, clearly put on in panic.
“What’s up guys, need something?” He scratched the back of his neck, impatient with the situation, considering the one that he had been interrupted from. A part of him feared that this was one of Jared’s infamous pranks, he had mostly been on the end of shifted lines, but worse could have been heading his way for all he knew.
Dean frowned at the sight of young man, it hardly felt right seeing the innocent boy that they knew with sex hair and slight bruises upon his neck. He cleared his throat, keeping up his expression, as he spoke to the boy. He had softened up to Jack, he was their kid in some ways, but this was no Nephilim, if anything it was worse, it was a man who impersonated they kid.
“Heard that uh, (Y/A/N) was running lines with you. Y’know where she is?” Alex’s eyes shifted slightly inside of his personal space, before everything was given away by a familiar giggle. It sounded the exact same as the one that often left (Y/N)’s mouth. Dean knew it, he would never be capable of mistaking it.
The noise had renegaded in his ears since she had been born, in the impala as John drove, through the halls of the bunker as her and Sam made jokes about his cholesterol. At the worst of times, before he knew that they existed, he liked to think that it was the voice of angel, she always guided him on the right path, and if she were to disappear from his life, he would sorely lose the track that he was hellbent on walking down.
And he could see her face now, as she tugged the sheet over her body. A frown sculpted her expression, as she looked exasperatedly between Alex whom had tried to lure the tall pair from the confines of his trailer, and the intruders who had barged carelessly in. It wouldn’t have mattered so much if her and Alexander had actually been running lines, however the situation explained more than enough of the fact that they indeed were not.
“Jared, Jensen, can you like, I don’t know, not cockblock me, for once in your elderly lives?” It felt peculiar, for both Sam and Dean. They knew that this was not their sister, but her calling them by other names was so foreign. Their skins crawled at the labelling, and it only reminded them farther of their cause, the reason that they were sent by an angelic being to be here in this very moment.
“I am also getting bored of it.” Alexander tilted his head, in agreement with (Y/A/N), who only grinned at his compliance to suit her opinions, and Dean could only roll his eyes, just like he did with Jack the majority of the time. “But it’s cool, but can we hurry this along, I mean not to be rude, but aren’t you guys supposed to be filming a scene in like five minutes?”
Sam cleared his throat, admittedly he did like Jack. The kid was sweet, however this was not him, it rather was a man who pretended to be a Nephilim for payment, and was bedding the doppelganger of his sister. If he were to see his sister and the devil’s child in such a compromising predicament, most people would assume he’d be the calm sibling, but they’d be wrong. He would go mad, and think of a way to keep the pair separate.
But luckily for them, there had never been such adult situations insinuated between their dear (Y/N) and Jack, or at least not that they were aware of. This riled Dean, and so he couldn’t help but feel like exploding. It angered him that any man had laid their bare and lustrous hands upon his youngest sibling. No one was to have that pleasure, she was supposed to remain innocent, even if she were legal.
“Seriously?! Jack of all people?!” He bellowed at (Y/A/N), shaking his head at their obvious exchange. If (Y/A/N) had any clothes on underneath the white sheet that hugged her body as she lay on the sofa, her instincts would have driven her over to Jensen and her palm would have met the side of his stubbly face.
“First of all, you need to start remembering Alex’s name, and that goes for Jared too. You can’t just keep calling him Jack, even after I’m done here and move onto my next project.” Her words, although not having the intent to, had the effect of triggering Sam’s goal, in-deliberately reminding him of their foremost goal. It was not to get angry at the characters that played them and their loved ones, it was to save someone that was incredibly important to their world.
“And second,” the woman in covering continued, “this isn’t exactly going to get me to stay on the goddamn show, if you barge in here, interrupting our privacy. If you don’t like what me and Alex are doing off screen, you sure aren’t going to like what is gonna go down between (Y/N) and Jack. Sometimes I do swear that you’re just like Sam and Dean.”
The jab she made at them struck nerves, but they knew that this was not the real her. It may have looked like (Y/N), but this was only a woman who played the part of her. “We’ve been trying to make you stay on the show?” Sam asked, his voice soft. He didn’t want to be harsh, she was already uncomfortable enough.
It was her unknowing that they were actually Sam and Dean that could be an element that they could use, a tool of convincing. “Yes, for weeks now.” (Y/A/N) sighed, pinching the point that was between her eyebrows. “And I’m getting tired of it, and overall, this character. I’ve played her for years on end, I think that her story should have a finishing point, a finale. I’m ready for bigger and brighter things, something that is not pretending to be a strong woman on set, and as soon as I walk away from the cameras, I go back to being weak.”
“I think you’re going to have to explain a little more if I’m going to get any of that.” Dean prompted, both him and Sam had turned away, giving the actress in the sheets the privacy to change. The shuffling of fabrics could be heard, they had been in worse situations with their sister, small motel rooms, of which they could usually only afford one in the past, helped nobody. And none of them received the personal space that should have been an outright human right.
“Of course neither of you understand.” Alex sighed, “she wants a smaller workspace, one where there aren’t so many eyes on her. The whole ordeal got out of hand, and now there are people online saying terrible things about her and I. Neither of you have made such a mistake, or had something so sacred and personal leaked on the internet. The things people say really digs in deep, she at least wants a break, can’t you understand that?”
“Wait, what got leaked?” Sam’s curiosity often informed him of things that he did not wish to be aware of, and this was one of their instances. Alex huffed and rolled his eyes, walking over to where (Y/A/N) was now fully clothed, and took a seat on the sofa beside her, their eyes meeting and mirroring smiles shining at one another.
The sight admittedly made Sam smile, but it made Dean feel internally sick. The sight of what looked like their sister and Jack fuelled a fire inside of him, he wanted his eyes to burn and the memory to be forever removed from his sights.
“Look, you play a pretty badass character, although I’d say Dean has a bit more kick to him.” The man himself chuckled, but no one joined in, so he continued through a forced smile, coming to sit down next to Alex, his ignorance to what happened there merely minutes ago encouraging his brother to cringe.
“But that’s not my only point, you’re here, whilst those sad souls that sit behind their computers all day waste their time typing crap. The life you have, the family that you have here, is worth more than the opinions of a few, invisible idiots, who are only jealous of everything that you have earned for yourself. Don’t breathe their toxicity win, because if you do, the bad guys win, and then you will only fade out of the spotlight and they’ll forget all about you, and all of the things they ever posted about you.”
Alex had been understanding through all of (Y/N)’s decision to leave the cast, although to begin with he had tried to convince her to stay. And it seemed out of all of them, it was Jensen that made her reconsider her options, he could see it behind her eyes, the unravelling of interest, the flickering of hope.
The only thing that the younger actor could not tell were that these were not Jensen’s words, they fell from the lips of Dean Winchester himself. A character that he knew of, and was an important symbol on the show that he was cast on. But it did not matter if he was not aware of that snippet, because it changed nothing, other than possibly (Y/A/N)’s mindful decision.
“You know what, you’re right Ackles. It’s not often that I say that, but the thought of leaving everyone here, settling for something that I have no connection to or history with, it is undermining. And I’m going to talk to Kripke, he’ll be over the moon with the consideration, however if he chooses that (Y/N) is to die as was planned due to my indecisiveness, then that shall be the battle that I am to bargain with.” They had won (Y/A/N) over, it was victory.
It was also the closest that they could do by themselves to save (Y/N). If this didn’t work, they would be nothing more than John’s broken tools, defined by all those that they were always mourning. And it would only make their sister another name on that sour list, even if her death would pain them substantially more than others.
“I guess we’ll go then.” Sam awkwardly spoke, encouraging Dean to stand from the christened furniture and join him in leaving the sexually active couple alone. He sent the woman a nod, and Alex a raised eyebrow. He would have Jack’s head if he ever thought he had the guts or wings to be so intimate with their sister, he’d make him feel something, and it would be painful. Torturous even.
They shut the door behind them as they departed from the actors, a smirk on Dean’s face. He felt victorious, he was the same hero that would read (Y/N) stories when it was dark and a storm was thundering outside, as she hid under the duvet of some dingy motel bed, a torch protecting her from the enveloping bleakness, but also her brothers. “I’d call this a win.”
“They said about a video…” Sam had Jared’s phone in his hand, he scrolled through the feed with a wrinkled nose and scorned eyes. After he received an answer to what it was concluding, he put the device away, he could never look at Jack and (Y/N) around each other the same again. It was burdened by the facts of this world, contradicting the innocence that both the kids in their world showed. “It was a leaked sex scene of the show, Dean.”
“Heck no!” Growled the elder brother, shaking his head. The instant images that flashed through his mind of the Nephilim atop of his little sister made his teeth grit in anger, and a pit of queasiness fold in the cave of his stomach. He already wasn’t too sure on Lucifer’s spawn, this only enhanced that formed opinion, and he wished to shoot the child more than ever in this instant, even if the real him was not around.
“They’re not actually the people we know Dean.” Sam comforted him, easing his anger, but only slightly. “Nothing like that has happened between them, he is in another world, whilst (Y/N) is in the bunker, reading lore and trying to find a way to bring mum and Jack back to us.”
“Yet Sammy, nothing has happened yet.” He allowed himself to shut his eyes for a second, and the next thing that he knew, he was returned home. His speech must have worked on the employee of the show Supernatural, otherwise, Gabriel surely would not have returned them to their home world.
“He’s gone, for chuck sake. How are we supposed to bring Jack and Mary back if we don’t have archangel grace?!” The stressed voice of their younger sibling often triggered a debate from the brothers, but seeing and hearing her, it was a miracle. They couldn’t waste time and argue, instead Sam lurched forward, grabbing the girl and bringing her into the embrace of his giant like arms.
“We’ll figure it out (Y/N/N), we always do.” He spoke softly, earning a confused yet pleased smile. The hug had come out of nowhere, but it calmed her nerves, the rushing of the blood that hurtled around the veins of her body slowed, and it gave her a moment of peace, a blank mind before she began researching again.
“I have a question.” Dean stated with his gruff tone, squinting at his female sibling. He suppressed a smile, she was oblivious to the blockade that had rested above her head like a raincloud, but he knew that she was here for good. And that she was not leaving to any sort of afterlife any time soon. “Do you have the hots for Jack?”
(Y/N)’s eyes went wide, however she forced a scoff to hide the shock and cover up anything that her brothers could pick up on. She released herself from Sam’s hold, taking a couple of simple steps backwards, so that she could have a clear view of the expressions that both of them wore. “Are you seriously asking me that at a time like this?” Her sentence was finished with a sigh and a roll of her eyes.
But her brothers knew their sister well enough, and that she indeed did not want to admit something to them. (Y/N) was much easier to read than (Y/A/N) was, they had known this growing woman since the day that she was born, the same day in which John rescued the shrieking baby from a mother that was fed and eaten by wolves. She would have been next, however the hunter saved her, as was in his job description, but he couldn’t bare to let her stream through the system.
He felt an attachment to her, and looking at her was practically the same as the notion of peering at one of his boys. She was to be a Winchester, he hadn’t decided it, but God himself did. The universe worked in mysterious ways, it was as though it was all written out for the family, but this instant, none of them minded. It gave the boys another reason to fight, another person to love, and eventually another family member to lose.
But it had been evaded this time, Gabriel had although not helped them with reaching their mother and the son of Kelly Kline, however, he had somewhat saved (Y/N) himself. Without his trickster interference, they’d have never known of her doomed fate, or have been able to fix it.
“I’ll take that as a yes.” Dean was smug with being right, as he always was. Overall though, he was more pleased to know that they had stopped the crumbling of the bottom of the family tree, they had protected their sister, literally to the ends of the world.
“Pick up a damn book and help me, I’m not doing all of this research by myself.” Another sign that he was indeed correct, changing the subject, how original. But neither of the brothers, more so Dean than Sam, even wanted to try and switch the mindset that (Y/N) had about the boy. They were allowed to have feelings, romantic and so on, and their sister appeared happy with the tether that was from her heart to Jack’s.
The vampires were almost mutated. This apocalypse world had really taken a toll on all life. Michael of this plain had destroyed everything that was known to be true, even living itself. The habitat of these morsal creatures was dark, and disgusting. Humans had already tried to pass through the deadly lair to reach the other side, to get to the rebellion camp, however, no one had survived to the opposite end of things.
(Y/N) felt hopeless, even as she walked through the home of the starving monsters. She had never been a fan of vampires, no hunter was, but this was cruel to every extent. They didn’t even appear as human anymore, their fates had been cursed by this ruined land. Without the world that was in her own, they would be worse off, everything in this dimension was.
Everyone of their company was on edge, Dean ensured that he kept a sturdy eye forward, looking for any light. He knew (Y/N) would have to be okay, it was paved for her to be so in the other universe, she’d be fine. Of course, he still worried, that was what he did in retrospect, all day, every day, he worried that it was to be someone’s last.
And he was right, as the monsters crept from the dark, tasting the scent of rushing blood in the air. They had lured them from their slumber, and they began to attack, dragging one of the travellers towards their death, where they would be fed on until he was completely drained. (Y/N) swung her machete, beheading one of the animals without a second glance, but perhaps she should have spared another look on the side, as she was a target.
She was the prey to what she was raised to hunt, it wrapped its clawed hand around her leg like a coil, dragging her to the ground, and feasting its teeth into her supple flesh. This was it, there was no route away from her fate, and her body was already weak from blood loss, and so she gave up, and refused to fight. Her body was dragged into the abyss of the nest, and its members followed after her.
Sam noticed their apparent glee, they had yet again prized food from them. He looked around to see whom it may be, and he was aghast with the sight. (Y/N) had her eyes shut as her limp form was being taken by vampires, and he froze, traumatised by the sight. And his surprised and hurt stature gave another of the beasts the perfect opportunity to rip into the rubber of his neck, and relish in the unstoppable river of blood that poured out from the fatal wound.
“No!” Dean cried out, noticing that his sister too had disappeared. Before he could follow after the menaces and get vengeance, and possibly save his family from being the meal of savages, Castiel grasped his arm, pain rendering in the blueness of his vessel’s eyes.
“They’re gone Dean.” His words rang through the hunter’s head. This was his worst nightmare. Gabriel’s warning had not helped at all, because (Y/N) was dead, and so was Sam. He forced himself to trudge on, pained like no other time before. Sam had died before, but he had always found a way to retrieve him back into life, and even through his tragic absence, he always had (Y/N). Now, the only other Winchester was his mother, who also needed to be saved from this damned world.
“Think about it Sammy, Jack is going to be so pleased to see you alive, but your little sis, well, I’m sure that is going to be one hell of a reunion between them.” Lucifer smirked, he was in Nick’s body again, using it as a vessel. “And he’ll think of me as a saviour, a knight that saved his princess from a terrible fate.”
The fallen archangel always had ulterior motives, and Sam realised that he had no choice in whether he’d rather remain dead, or be used as a bargaining chip by the devil himself. His interest in Jack was not exactly pure, it was clear to the man that he sought the backup, the power of his biological son. His intent was to creep into the boy’s mind, and decipher for the kid the difference between wrong and right.
“That’s what you want, to lie to him about who you are?” He couldn’t exactly say he was surprised, even more so that the audience of vampires were seething to break free from Lucifer’s force. He wasn’t even supposed to be here, he should have been in the bunker, his grace feeding away at Rowena’s spell, and keeping the gate open for their return.
“I’ll just bend the truth to fit the story, and I care about my son. As you care about your dear sister, and it would be a shame if she were not to wake, and then the news will have to be delivered to my boy, and I’m sure that would just break his half and half heart.” The celestial being, the epidemy of evil tutted at the thought, only to send Sam a mischievous smirk afterwards. “You don’t want him to be like me, but without her, he’ll be in so much pain that he won’t think about his actions. If he has (Y/N/N), then that choice will be entirely up to him, and what he believes in, yada yada yada.”
The sight of his sister covered in her own blood, motionless on the ground, bite marks on her shoulders and elsewhere drew out a desperation in Sam. He couldn’t not allow the villain to bring her back to life, and it seemed that no matter what he disputed, that Lucifer would do it anyway, to get himself in Jack’s good books. And so he hung his head low, awaiting the personal enemy of his to resurrect the most important woman in his life.
On first instinct, (Y/N) gasped in air. There was a lack of it rolling around the vitals of her lungs, but her breath was taken away once more, when she saw the looming of a horrifying figure, a first son of god. He was supposed to be, even if forced to do so by the traditions of magic, be at the bunker, revelling them with a way back. Rowena had been left there also, to keep the spell brewing, and a fearful eye on the hellish shadow.
Assumingly, he had escaped his sentence, and for some reason, brought her to life. It was no mistake as to what the vampires had done to her, she could smell the spilling of her own blood over her thrifted and worn clothes, and it was gruesome. Although it was not the hunter’s first time in being a sponge to her injuries, but nevertheless, she fought to stand beside Sam, who steadied her shaken feet, and balanced out the rest of her body by looping his supportive arm around her waist.
“Come on.” Lucifer rolled the human eyes that he wore like spectacles into the lives of the Winchesters, unimpressed by the slowness of the world’s large cockroaches. “We have places to be and sons to meet.” At his verbalised of clarity for his ungodly presence, (Y/N)’s body became rigid. His intent was to get to Jack, she couldn’t allow him to provoke a fire inside the boy.
He was sweet and innocent, even harmless, despite the accident that had happened when he accompanied her and her brothers on a hunt. If Lucifer reached him, he would only try and navigate the darkness inside of him to be what it was, rather than try and make him change it into something brighter, something that was good, like Kelly would have wanted.
“No.” (Y/N) refused, earning a frown from Sam and a elongated groan from Lucifer. She had died, it didn’t matter if she were to return to that fate, not if she stood by what she truly believed in. Nothing much would change, other than the vampires getting another meal from the same body, Dean already thought that she was extinguished from life, and the news would be passed on before any of them were to reach him.
“Oh, for crying out loud!” The devil shook his wolfish head, Winchesters were always so stubborn. “I’d allow it if Sam were to stand against the gift of life, I’ve seen what is inside of his head after all, but you! You’re the priority here, you are Jack’s weakness.” This gesture of good faith seemed to be more than it was worth, but if she didn’t comply willingly, then he would force her to follow him along, and live.
“Where’d you hear that from? He doesn’t have a weakness, he just has a good heart. I’m just another person that he lives with, a soldier that is going to fight anyone that dares to try and hurt him. And I won’t mind if I have to give my life to try and kill you.” She spat at the disgrace of heaven, hardly moved by his goal. As a Winchester, the stubbornness ran through her veins, even if the bloodline itself did not.
“I hear things, and I did in that bunker. Like how Dean was speaking about you and Jackie boy, and how it all made sense. The shared looks, the flushed faces, all that gross stuff. He didn’t seem too happy with the circumstances, but he was content with the fact that you were alive, like you are again, because of me.”
Lucifer was the last person that (Y/N) would thank for her existence, but she realised that there was no way out of his trap, she was the bait for Jack, that would reel the boy into the wings of his dreaded father.
He could sometimes be so naive, that she feared that Jack would fall for the extension of kindness, one that hardly suited Lucifer. But that was up to him, and in this apocalyptic version of her world, anything could happen.
“She’s dead.” Dean’s voice was gravelly, it had been dragged through hope, and now the realisation that his baby brother and sister were lost to life. The eyes belonging to Jack widened, and tears began to form.
He could quite comprehend how he felt. There was a tearing in his chest, he felt as though he was being split apart, his breathing rapidly increased, and his eyes flared like the bursts of the sun.
Until whispers hit his ears, and he looked up, only to see the girl alive and well. He was not the only one relieved in the circumstances, Dean and Mary were too, but they feared the fact that Lucifer had joined them, and was being trailed by the bloodied siblings; the ones that he had saved for his selfish purposes.

T.Rex, Velveeta, and Other Fun Names
A one shot I made, thanks to @lydias--stiles and @blush-and-books.
We were talking about what Luke’s middle name could be and it sparked an idea for this quick little one shot (which is neither quick or little actually.)
Could also be read on AO3.
ENJOY!
____________
Lucas T. Patterson
The madness of this week all started when Julie thumbed through Luke’s journal and found her songwriting partner’s messy scrawl inscribed in the behind the front cover.
Yeah, it was his name, Julie would have griped about how illegible it was and moved on to whatever song she and Luke had been workshopping the day before and thought nothing of it-
If it weren’t for the fact that there was a flurry of deep inset scratches of pen scribbling out the space where his middle name was supposed to be, leaving only the ‘T’ unscathed…
“So I was thinking, maybe we change the key. I thought I was feeling A Major,” Luke rattled off, playing the aforementioned series of chords on his electric, “But now, I think we could really intensify it by flipping to a minor key-”
“What’s the 'T' stand for?”
The ghost looked up, confused, “Huh?”
Julie held up the inner cover of the journal, pointing to his name, “Lucas T. Patterson. The ‘T’- what does it stand for?”
It was a simple question, but all color drained from his face.
“O-Oh. Oh that?” Luke stammered through, struggling to rid himself of his guitar, the skull and rose strap kept swatting his face in his hurry.
She nodded.
He was across the room in seconds, back facing her, pretending to fiddle with the amp settings, even going as far as inspecting Alex’s drums. Thank goodness the drummer wasn’t there right now or else he would be getting a thorough lecture. ("Tell him to stop touching my drums!" extended to his bandmates as well).
“It, uh, stands for my middle name,” he said, still not looking at her.
“I get that. So what is it?”
“It’s nothing,”
Julie rose from the piano bench, traversing the studio until she was right behind him. She forced him to pivot and face her, “No, it’s clearly something.”
Luke gave a dismissive wave and a weak nonchalant laugh, “It’s not a big deal,”
“It clearly is if you won’t tell me,”
Then his head cocked to the side. He cupped his ear, “Uh, what’s that? I think I heard Carlos!”
“What?” She couldn’t hear anything.
“Oh, you need help, Carlos? On my way!”
“He can’t even-”
In a flash of light and warp of reality, Julie was alone in the studio.
“- hear you...”
Oh boy.
Now what was that about?
________________
Ever since then, Julie’s curiosity only grew. Why was Luke so evasive when it came to his middle name? What could possibly be the reason?
With all the secrecy and going great lengths to omit it from his journal, she was betting on it being insanely embarrassing.
Which made Julie want to find out even more.
Luke didn’t get embarrassed so easily, not much to weaponize against him whenever they all made playful jabs at each other from time to time, like the friends they were. Really it was stuff like ‘Beware, Luke this shirt has sleeves’ which basically translated to ‘Haha, you’re attractive’.
Which did not pack quite the punch.
She was determined to decode Luke’s middle name, if not to quench her curiosity then to humble the guy.
He couldn’t be attractive and talented. Something’s gotta give.
(And no, she didn’t often think about how attractive and talented he was… Nope. Not at all).
“Tristan?” she threw out while they were backstage at their next gig.
Luke tuned his guitar, “Nope”
“Thomas?”
“Nuh-uh”
“Terrence?”
He finally looked up, smirking, “You will never find out.”
The tech burst in, phasing through the ghostly forms of the boys, to lead her out onto the stage.
She inwardly cursed. Saved by the bell.
“Break a leg, boss,” Luke wiggled his fingers at her before she was practically pushed past the curtain.
Even when she sat down to play the piano, Julie could not get the image of Luke’s smug face out of her mind. Oh, he probably thought her attempts were just so cute.
Yeah, cute for now.
But she wasn’t done yet.

“Alright, guys. Help me solve the mystery. What’s Luke’s middle name?”
It was one of those rare occasions where Luke was out of the house, leaving her, Alex, and Reggie alone.
The boys had been present for her previous tries to weasel Luke’s middle name out of him, and they were amused for the most part- Well, never as amused as Luke ‘Thinks He’s All That’ Patterson (not a serious contender in her guessing, by the way).
With their reactions, and however many years of brotherhood shared among the three of them, Alex and Reggie just had to know.
They were all chilling in the kitchen, Reggie perched on top of the counter and Alex lounging at the table. Julie poured herself a juice, waiting on the answer.
The bassist straightened up, “Oh. It’s-” Then he stopped, face scrunched up in a frown of concentration.
Julie directed her gaze at Alex, who was ready to jump in.
“No, wait it’s…” He faltered.
The two boys’s heads snapped to stare at each other as they pieced it together.
“Dude, I don’t think-”
“No. He had to have. I’m just blanking,”
“Guys?”
“Oh my god,” Alex uttered, pushing his golden locks back into his cap, “It took us this long to notice?!”
They were now on their feet, sandwiching Julie.
“We... don’t...know,” Reggie winced, admitting it out loud.
“How could you not know?”
“I don’t think he ever told us!” was the bassist’s defense, “He’s Fort Luke when he wants to be!”
He made the gesture of locking his lips and throwing away the key to which Alex nodded.
“Now I wanna know!”
“Me too!”
Now this was a development. If Luke’s boys had no clue, then it must be really juicy.
Taking a sip from her cup, Julie was all ready to recruit two new members for the noble cause…

Julie, Alex, and Reggie huddled in a circle at the studio, all bearing notebooks and furiously whispering at each other and scribbling away when Luke decided to make an appearance.
They dispersed, making their collusion all the more suspicious.
“Luke,” They all greeted, with the same level of enthusiasm… at the same time.
The guitarist eyed them skeptically. Then he took in the notebooks, “You’re having a band meeting. Without me?” he asked, hurt flashed in his hazel eyes.
“No, silly. We’re having a band meeting about you,”
“Reggie!” Alex and Julie hissed.
That only added to Luke’s hurt and confusion.
Sending him a reassuring smile, she guided him to an empty chair, placed right in the middle, just beyond the coffee table, “Sit down. Please.”
“Okay?” Slow steps and weird stares later, his butt plopped onto the seat, “Can someone tell me what’s all this abo-?”
“Lucas Theodore Patterson?” Alex leapt in front of Luke, reading his guess off his notebook.
Luke’s shoulders slumped, seeing where this was all going.
“Guys, really? You too-?”
“Is it or is it not Theodore?” Julie backed Alex up.
“God no,”
Reggie was up next, “Lucas Timothy Patterson?”
The nose scrunch answered for them.
“Lucas Tyrone Patterson?” as was Julie’s turn.
“No flow,”
And so they were stuck in a circle for the next 20 minutes, everyone taking turns guessing Luke’s middle name, their lists growing more desperate and random as they continued, even going as far as borderline yelling the names at him- that was how frustrated they were.
“Lucas Troy Patterson,”
“No”
“Lucas Trixie Patterson?!”
“That’s not even- that’s not even a guys name-”
“It’s Tyrannosaurus Rex. I’m telling you. It has to be!” Reggie slammed his notebook down, poking Luke hard in the chest with his index finger, “Admit it! LUCAS. T. REX PATTERSON!”
“Boy, I wish,”
Their guessing game, once the last of the names have been recited, left all of them breathless (even though two of them were ghosts!).
On any other occasion, Luke would have been sympathetic, especially seeing how broken up and defeated they all looked collapsed onto the couch, glaring at him like he was the enemy.
But their fruitless attempts only made him all the more victorious.
“Nice try guys,” he patted each of them on the shoulder before heading out.
Best to give them a break.
Ya know, to deal with the defeat.
____________________
She was nothing if not persistent.
But Julie knew she might have been taking things too far when she had made the trip to Emily’s.
Look, she thought she could just pay the woman a visit, to check up on her, catch up-
Maybe ask leading questions in order to trick her into telling her her son’s middle name?
Yeah, the plan was flawed from the start because how could she so subtly direct the conversation to her dead son’s middle name.
Maybe get her to tell a story about Luke getting in big enough trouble that would have warranted the whole ‘yelling-out-your-full-name’ treatment? Which was a total stretch.
But she didn’t expect it to be the complete and utter disaster that it was.
If Alex and Reggie hadn’t gotten impatient and started snooping around Luke’s old room and digging through his things to find some sort of sign for his name, and if Luke hadn’t decided to intervene, creating all kinds of ruckus in other rooms for his mom to stop and check-
Then maybe they wouldn’t all be sitting on the Molina living room couch hours, getting read the riot act by Luke Patterson of all people.
“I had to tip over my aunt’s vase!!”
“Well, if it's any consolation, your mom always hated that vase?” Reggie chuckled before being promptly silenced by one look from Luke.
Alex spluttered, “But, like, you didn’t have to break it??”
“I did what I had to do,”
“Your mom was so freaked out!”
“Well, that’s on you guys,”
Julie just about had enough with all these games, she pushed herself up from the couch, squaring up against Luke’s unwavering gaze, “You’re being ridiculous!”
“Me?” he yelled, taken aback, “ You went to my house!”
“We just wanted to know!”
“Oh my god!” His hands gripped at his hair, “Why do you wanna know my middle name so badly?”
“I like knowing stuff about you, okay!”
Luke stepped back. Eyes wide.
That-
That wasn’t meant to come out.
Especially in the booming, shrill tone she used.
“Oh…”
Luke was playing with the sleeves of his oversized flannel, the air between them thick and brimming with awkwardness. It didn’t help that Alex and Reggie took this as the opportunity to flee.
Now it was just the two of them in the living room.
Breathing deeply to collect herself because it finally hit her- they were in a screaming match all because of a middle name . Like, Luke wasn’t the only one being ridiculous. It was her too. This whole quest to figure out what the T in his name stood for was so pointless.
They were fighting and Julie didn’t like it.
“And,” she cleared her throat, dislodging the unpleasantness, “there’s something clearly bothering you about it. Just… maybe thought I could help?”
Julie had been kidding herself. Messing with Luke might have been her initial goal, but what bugged her most about not knowing his middle name was the fact that even after all the time they spent together, there were things that Luke still wouldn’t tell her.
He was entitled to keep his secrets, yes, and she still felt bad for spying on him on his birthday. But, they were bandmates, writing partners, friends . She had confided in him a lot and he with her, and they just…
They always had this closeness. A closeness that she appreciated and didn’t take for granted.
And she had acted so recklessly because of it.
Luke nodded, taking it in. He didn’t look mad, but he understood. Julie could tell he was able to get more from her than the words she spouted at him.
“It’s, just,” his voice lowered into a self-conscious whisper, “It’s just something I don’t like a lot of people knowing...”
“I’m sorry. I pushed,”
“It’s okay,” the left corner of his mouth twitched, “You wouldn’t be Julie, if you didn’t” he playfully punched her shoulder.
She gaped at him in mock offense, “Hey!”
“Just saying. Tt’s not the first time you showed up on my doorstep, digging up my past,” she instinctively grimaced but Luke reached for her hand, intertwining his fingers with hers, “But I know it’s coming from a good place. Thanks.”
He really shouldn’t be so forgiving, Julie thought. But she was just happy that they could just leave this mess behind them.
“I’ll get the guys to drop it,” she offered.
That made Luke laugh, “Good luck with that. Reggie’s wearing Alex down. Now he’s seriously considering my middle name to be ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’,”
“If it was that embarrassing, I’d see why you’d keep it a secret,”
It seemed like Luke wanted to say something but shook his head and thought better of it. Instead he tugged her by the hand to the door, “Come on. You never did give me your opinion on the key change…”
_______________
It was months later when it finally came out.
They were in her room. She was doing homework and he was getting a jump start on their newest song, working side by side on the floor.
Her laptop was open, some randomly chosen Spotify playlist streaming in the background. All was well when the familiar chords of ‘Get Lost’ started playing, causing Luke to visibly tense up.
“Trevor,”
“Right. Sorry, I’ll turn it off-”
“No. That’s…” He sighed and moved into a kneeling position.
Pushing his already opened journal to Julie, Luke flipped it to the cover, where his name was written.
He pointed to the scribbles over his middle name.
Where only the T was exposed…
Trevor.
“Lucas...Trevor...Patterson?”
“My full name. Ba-da?” his jazz hands fell flat, betrayed by the quiver in his voice.
“Oh,”
“I, uh, never liked how it sounded. And you know how I feel… about things that just don’t flow right”
Julie did. For sure. Scrapped lyrics and melodies were often what happened. Never to be brought up again.
He continued, “My mom would insist on writing out my full name on my notebooks for school- Luke Patterson is already so generic,” and the first genuine chuckle of the night huffed out, “Never used them for class of course. Just to write songs.”
“Tre-Bobby,” she corrected herself “He would have needed proof that he wrote everything...”
“My old notebook. That had ‘Get Lost’ and ‘Crooked Teeth’. Made the mistake of writing it in pencil. It’d be so easy to just-”
Slamming the laptop closed, silencing the song, Julie enveloped the ghost in a hug. He melted against her, hands gripping onto her shoulders from behind, for dear life, the weight of the reveal finally taking its toll.
“I didn’t like my middle name before. Now, I just- I just can’t stand it,” he whispered into her shirt.
“I’m so sorry, Luke”
“Were the songs not enough? He had to steal my name too?”
The ache carried by his voice made Julie squeeze tighter.
She had no words.
What Bobby did, what he took from Luke, was more than she could ever fathom. She didn’t know what to do, what to say to him to soothe the pain.
She only held him.
For as long as he needed.
___________
"How come Alex and Reggie never found out?" she would ask him later.
"Didn't make it habit to show off my journal"
She frowned, "But you let me read it."
Luke, too, had no words in response.
____________
“Hey, wanna go on a walk with me?” Julie asked him out of the blue one evening.
Luke could definitely use a break, especially from whatever row Alex and Reggie had just gotten into. He nodded and took her offered hand.
They took a stroll down her street, hands still joined but hidden in Julie’s hoodie pocket (as to not make it seem like she was grasping at air). The sun was beginning to set over the hills as they could see from their vantage point in the park, their set destination.
Julie seemed to have some purpose for this random walk because she was leading him around until they reached a tree in a more secluded part of the grounds.
Whipping out a pocket knife, Julie replaced her hand in her grasp with the odd tool.
“What’s this?”
“For a while, I lost all sense of what music meant to me. I thought music was my mom. That if she’s gone then there’s no point in going on,”
“Aw, Jules”
Her sunny disposition shone through in a smile, “It’s okay. I had to redefine music for myself. Give it new meaning. Music is not just my mom. It’s my family and Flynn. It’s you and the guys” she shrugged, “It’s me.”
“I would have told you that,” A tender touch to her forearm coaxed an even bigger smile from the girl, “You definitely are music.”
Momentarily distracted by the compliment, it took a moment for Julie to get back on track.
“What I’m trying to say is. I think it’s time for you to redefine yourself. There’s stuff in your old life that you miss, but there’s also stuff you want to leave in the past…”
It dawned on Luke what Julie was referring to.
“That ‘T’ is a placeholder. You could go by a different middle name. You could do whatever you want. You’re a ghost now. You can… move on. So,” she revealed the blade and placed it in his palm once more. She nodded at the tree.
“Go ahead. Go give your name a new meaning, Make your mark,”
Grinning, Luke picked up on her plan and began carving into the trunk, his initials, all three letters representing his name, with each mark easier to craft than the last, imbuing more love and meaning into them, just like what Julie said.
Once done, he admired his handiwork, floored by how cathartic it was, to have his name on something that was gonna last.
L.T.P
He was taking back his goddamn name.
He beheld it with pride.
“I’ll ask again,” Julie leaned against the tree, tracing the letters with her fingers, “What’s the 'T' stand for?”
With no hesitation he said-
“Thundercat,”
“W-What?” Julie choked.
He lost it at her reaction, “You said whatever I want. I loved that show as a kid!” he giggled.
“Lucas… Thundercat… Patterson,” Julie so badly wanted to make a comment, Luke could tell. But she changed her mind, “You know what? If it makes you so happy then go for it. Who am I to stop you?”
“Nah, I’ll think of something else later on. But it’s my afterlife. I could go through as many middle names as I want, right?”
“Exactly,”
Luke returned her knife and thought she was going to slip it back into her pocket. Instead, she strode up to the tree and proceeded to carve her own initials right below his.
“There. So your name doesn’t have to be lonely up there,” she folded up the blade and put it away.
“You know that, uh, couples usually do that kind of thing,” Luke couldn’t help but notice that, with the way their initials were oriented on the tree.
A rosy hue graced the girl’s cheeks, “Oh...yeah.”
A beat of silence followed, just the two of them staring at the tree.
“I like how our names look next to each other though,”
Luke nodded, a warm feeling settling in the pit of his stomach and rising, “Me too.”
Squinting, he read Julie’s initials, “ J.V.M. What does the ‘V’ stand for?”
A devious glint sparkled in her eyes, “Maybe you’ll just have to guess.”
“Aw come on!”
She raised an eyebrow, “Oh as if you made it easy for me?”
Ok. She had him there, “Fair enough.”
The whole walk home, Luke ran through all the ‘V’ names he could think of.
“Julianna Valeria?”
“Nope,”
“Julianna Vanessa?”
“C’mon, songwriter. Where’s the flow?” she teased.
Luke snapped his fingers, believing he cracked the code, “Victoria. After your aunt,”
“No. But imagine how mad she was when she found out,”
“Venus, Vanilla, Vaseline-”
“Vaseline?”
They were at her doorstep, and he bounded in front of her, blocking her path, “I won’t give up.”
“I don’t expect you to,”
“Velveeta. Like the cheese”
“It’s Valentina,” she finally said, pushing him aside, fishing through her pockets for the keys to open the front door.
“You got Valentina while I got stuck with Trevor?” She lucked out in the middle name department, that was for sure.
Of course someone like Julie got shacked up with a beautiful name like Valentina…
“I could change mine too. In solidarity,” she said offhandedly.
“If I go with Reggie’s suggestion: Tyrannosaurus Rex then would you be Velociraptor?”
“T.Rex and Velociraptor?” she laughed in disbelief, finally walking through the threshold of her house. Thank goodness everyone else was already upstairs.
“From this day forth, I will be known Lucas Tyrannosaurus Rex Patterson!” he confidently declared
“And I’ll be Julianna Velociraptor Molina!” she repeated, taking much pleasure in the absurdity of it.
“Were you a dinosaur kid?”
“You saw my slippers and my PJs...”
“True,”
_______
Luke didn’t expect for them to take the whole new middle name thing so seriously.
But if they so happened to greet each other next time with prehistoric roars and with him tackling her onto the studio couch and pretending to bite her like the carnivore he was, then that was for them to know…
And for Alex and Reggie to remain confused about.
__________
Bonus:
And after some years down the line and one magical reincarnation later, Luke decided to change his name again.
“Patterson’s okay,” he said to Julie, “But I think I need something new.”
“Oh yeah? What are you thinking?”
Luke went down on one knee, in front of the tree they marked up when they were teenagers, ring in hand.
“Molina sounds pretty good to me…”

In My Room (Part 2)
Alex Turner x reader
Summary: Part two of In My Room. Alex asks and takes you out on a date.
warnings: fluff
word count: 1967
A/N: Part three is currently being made
✿✼:*゚:༅。.。༅:*・゚゚・⭑ ✿✼:*゚:༅。.。༅:*・゚゚・⭑
When you woke up, you felt cold and alone and you moved you hand to feel around the bed for Alex. When you couldn't find him, you opened your eyes, blinking to adjust to the light and to wake yourself up.
"Alex," you said, looking around the room, searching for Alex. You sat up in the bed, your mind flashing back to last night. He came out of the bathroom in just his boxers.
"Yeah, love?" he asked, walking over to the bed, sitting down beside you.
"Nothing, just wondering where you were," you said. Alex smiled and leaned in to kiss you, you pulled back after a split second of the kiss.
"Wait. I haven't brushed my teeth yet," you said.
"It's fine, I don't care," he said and leaned back in to kiss you. You still refused to kiss him without having brushed your teeth, so you pushed him away. You wanted to kiss him again, you really did, but you didn't want morning breath while kissing him.
Alex sat back and you got up, walking to the bathroom. "Is there a toothbrush I can use?" you asked.
"Yeah, there should be a spare in there," Alex replied, getting up and showing you where it was and handed you his toothpaste.
You began to brush your teeth after Alex left, brushing your fingers through your hair once you were done. After you were done, you walked out of the bathroom and saw Alex putting on his pants.
"Can I kiss you now?" he asked, walking over to you and grabbed your waist. You nodded and he smiled and kissed you, his hands moving from your waist to your ass. He bit your bottom lip, demanding for entrance into your mouth and you complied, his tongue exploring your mouth. You could taste the last cigarette he'd had, more than likely while you were asleep.
You pulled away and cupped Alex's face. "You have really pretty eyes," you said. Alex blushed and playfully nudged your nose with his and you laughed.
"Yeah, but your eyes are even prettier," he said. You giggled and he let go of you and you walked over to the pile of your clothes. You picked up you shirt and put it on over your bra, taking off Alex's boxers and putting on your panties and pants.
You finished getting dressed and Alex walked over to you.
"Love, w-would you maybe ... I don't know ... want to go out for lunch with me?" Alex asked, grabbing your forearm lightly.
"Are you sure? B-because I don't want to interfere with your life," you said. You wanted to say yes, you wanted to go, but you also didn't want him to feel obligated to take you out.
"Yes, love. I'm sure," he replied, kissing your lips softly. "Okay, then. I'd love to go out to lunch with you," you said.
He smiled for probably the hundredth time since you'd been with him for the night. Then, you wondered what the public would think about this. He is Alex Turner so there was bound to be someone to spot you two together.
"Alex, what if someone, like, i don't know, paparazzi sees us? What would they think?" you asked. It took Alex a minute or two to find a way to respond to that question.
"Well, then I can just tell them that you're my new girlfriend, if you would want to be my girlfriend, that is," he responded nervously.
You didn't think twice. "Yes, Alex. I'd love to be your girlfriend." He laughed in excitement and picked you up, grabbing the underside of your thighs, kissing you passionately, spinning you around. You giggled at his excitement. He was more adorable than you had initially thought.
Alex kept walking around and spinning you around in the room in his arms, nearly tripping over his shoes. You laughed at his clumsiness and he put you down on the bed.
Alex grabbed his shoes and started to put them on, sitting down beside you. You looked at him confused.
"What? Get ready, love, we're leaving as soon as we can," he said and finished putting on his shoes, grabbing yours and handing them to you.
"Why so soon?" you asked.
"Because, love, it's already half past eleven," he replied, handing you the shoes again.
You didn't reealize that you slept that late, you would normally get up at ten—and that would be the latest you would get up at.
You took the shoes and began to put them on. Alex was waiting impatiently, excited to take you out on the date. Once you finished putting on your shoes, Alex grabbed you hand and pulled you up off the bed, quickly grabbing your handbag for you and handed you.
"Well, aren't you in a rush," you laughed when Alex opened the door and rushed you out of the room.
"I'm excited to take you out, love," he replied, quickly grabbing his wallet and shoving it in his pocket, shutting the door and grabbing you by the waist, walking down the hallway to the elevator with you right by his side.
When you turned the corner you saw Miles standing in front of the elevator, patiently waiting for it. Miles heard you and Alex turn the corner of the hallway and turned around, walking to you and Alex, giving the both of you a hug.
"There you are, Al," Miles said. "Nice to see you again, love. I were hoping that you would come with Al."
"You just saw us last night, Mi," Alex said. Miles hugged you and kissed your cheek.
"Yeah, but I still missed you. So, anyways, what did you two do last night?" Miles replied. Neither you or Alex could figure out what to tell Miles. When you couldn't think of something to say, you turned to Alex, hoping that he could come up with one.
"Well, we ... we talked and ... w-watched a movie and then we went to sleep. Right, love?" Alex said, tripping over his words, looking at you then back at Miles. "Oh, and I asked her to be my girlfriend earlier and she said yes," he added, kissing the top of your head.
"Oh, well that's great, Al," Miles said enthusiastically, hugging you and Alex once again.miles key congratuating you both, saying how happy he was for you and saying that Alex was lucky to have you.
The elevator dinged and the doors opened and after a few people got out, you three stepped inside and Miles pressed the ground floor button. Alex kept his arm around your waist, wanting you to be close to him at all times.
Once you reached the ground floor and got out of the elevator, Miles said his goodbyes. "I'll see you later tonight, Al ... and hopefully you too, love," he said and walked away after giving you both a big hug.
"What's later tonight?" you asked Alex, walking to the exit with him.
"There's a gig tonight. It's the last one we 'ave here in Germany, actually," he said sadly, looking down at the ground. It was only then that you realized that even though you were now his girlfriend, that you wouldn't see him until he came back or if you visited him and you looked down at the ground, sad.
Alex noticed your mood change and he tried to cheer you up. "Hey, I know you literally just agreed to be my girlfriend not even an hour ago, but we can make it work, I promise," he said. You smiled and the two of you began walking to down the sidewalk.
"So, where are we going to eat?" you asked, trying to change the subject.
"Well, where do you want to go?" Alex said. You thought for a moment and a place that reminded you of Alex immediately came to your mind. "It's a small corner restaurant and it reminds me of you," you said.
"Okay, lead the way then, love," Alex said. You took his hand and began leading him to the restaurant. It was about a seven minute walk and Alex and to stop every few minutes because a fan would want a picture, an autograph, or both.
You didn't mind waiting on him though, it was normal for him, and you would've done the same if you saw him and hadn't met him at the pub last night. After stopping quite a few times, you both eventually made it there at 11:55 A.M.
You went up to the counter and ordered your food, Alex doing the same and placing the order under his name. You and Alex found a table and sat down. You remembered something from last night and asked Alex about it. "Alex, why'd you pay my tab for me last night?"
"I-I payed your tab for you, because when I first saw you, I-I ... guess that I kind of formed. A rush on you. And then I started wondering if you would want to get to know me, and I guess that I was right," he explained, becoming a stuttering mess.
You told him how sweet that was and his face flushed. Yours and Alex's food came not long later and it didn't take either of you long to finish your food. While you both ate, you made conversation, like what you did for a living and about your family and you asked about his family as well.
By the time you were both finished it was already 12:59 and you were full. Alex got done not long after you and you both got up and went to the counter to pay the bill.
"Alex, let me pay this time," you said. You were thankful that he wanted to pay, but you also wanted to pay him back for paying for your tab and for the taxi last night.
"No, love. I asked you out so I'm going to pay," he said. You kept insisting that you should pay for your own food, but Alex didn't budge and when it was your turn to pay in the line, Alex was already getting the money out of his wallet and payed before you could reach into your bag and get your wallet out.
You and Alex left the restaurant and began walking back to the hotel. "Where are we going now?" you asked, kissing Alex's cheek.
"I was think that we could either go back to the hotel or we could look around until it's time for the gig," Alex replied, kissing your cheek in return. "So, which one do you want to do?"
"I think we should look around Berlin, I'd love to show you some of my favourite places here," you answered. Alex grabbed your hand and interlocked his fingers with your and lightly swung it with his. "Okay. Lead the way then, love," he said.
You started to lead him to the Berlin Wall Memorial, excited to sho him around. Alex for some reason stopped and you turned around to face him.
"You alright, Alex?" you asked, grabbing both of his hands.
"Yeah, just ... do you ... would you possibly want to come to the show tonight with me?" he asked, locking eyes with you.
"Of course I would," you said and then you kissed him, wrapping your arms around his neck and his wrapping around your waist. He pulled away and his forehead rested against yours.
"We should get going then if you want to show me around, unless you want to take this back to the hotel," he said.
"Okay, come on, Alex. We have a lot to visit before the show," you said, grabbing his hand and leading him to where you wanted to show him.

Sparkles
Julie adjusted the way the jacket laid on her when she looked in the mirror.
“See! Told you it would look good.” Alex felt victorious that his outfit suggestion looked just as good as he thought.
Julie was in her room, getting ready for their newest gig while the boys were on her bed. Luke sat criss-cross on her bed, Alex sat on the edge and Reggie opted to sit on the floor with his back leaned against her bed. In the short amount time, the ‘Stay out of my room!’ rule seemed to dissipate.
She had, at most, 20 minutes before having to leave to go the newest gig they booked. A collaboration gig with Dirty Candi. In the past, Julie would have never guessed the collaboration would be the case. However, Carrie was becoming the old her that Julie knew and had grown up slowing but surely. She made her remember why they were ever friends in the first place.
“Is it too much?” She pulled her curls over her shoulders, testing hair that could go with the look.
“For Dirty Candi? Never enough sparkles.” She nodded in agreement with Alex’s statement.
“I like the jacket.” Reggie smiled, having his input on the cropped sparkly leather jacket Julie had on, her Stand Tall jacket. She had to match the sparkles that were Dirty Candi.
“Hmm I wonder why?” Luke asked, sarcasm seeping out.
“They are quite comfortable.” She adjusted the fit of the sleeves while defending Reggie’s outfit choice.
She started to run her fingers through her hair, a skeptical look crossing her face as she thought of what do it with it.
“Maybe a ponytail.” Luke put in.
“Ooo, yeah and a high one too.” Reggie shared his idea.
It was always helpful having the input of the boys for her looks for their gigs. They didn’t have much of a wardrobe choice, with their 90’s clothes and clothing out of bags to cycle through. However, Julie’s closet had much more options. It was fun trying to match the boy’s 90’s appearance with what she currently had.
When she put up her hair in the high ponytail, she saw the nods of approval from the boys in the mirror. However, when she looked at herself, she didn’t know what but something was missing. She noticed the clear cylinder containers on her vanity, along with the tube of lash glue on its side. A sign.
“Aren’t you done?” Luke seemed impatient.
“Adding the finishing touch.” They saw her dab something clear under her eyes, across the bridge of her nose. She started to fan both sides of her face.
“What-? Are you going to cry?” Alex seemed concerned.
“No, no, no!” She immediately calmed the boys. “I’m waiting for it to become tacky.”
They apparently needed more of an explanation than that.
“Waiting to apply.” She held up the round container of glitter.
All their pupils seemed to grow in size in combination with their mouths becoming circles when seeing the sparkles. Alex turned behind him to see his friends had the same exact expression he had. They started to exchange a look with each other.
Julie immediately knew what they all were thinking when she saw their faces. “You know... if only one us has the sparkles... that’d look very out of place.”
“Do you have red?” Reggie raised his hand before being called on.
“I have a lot of colors.” She gestured to the containers that were lined up. “Why don’t you three decide who’s going first while I put mine on?”
She heard mummers and she applied the purple glitter to the glue under her eyes. She turned around when she heard the mummers stop when she finished putting on her glitter. She saw that Alex was sat at the ottoman at the end of her bed, he must be going first.
She grabbed the tube of glue. “Do you want it under your eyes or-”
“Same as yours.”
She nodded as she carefully applied the glue in the same spot she did hers.
“We need to wait till that becomes tacky.” She informed. “While we’re waiting what color do you want? Rainbow? Pink? ...Some other color?” She felt like she already knew what he wanted.
He looked at the bracelet on his right wrist that matched one of the options. “I can do rainbow?” It has come out a whisper question than anything else.
“Or I have light pink, dark pink,-”
“...I’ll-” he cut himself off to adjust his volume to his normal one, “I’ll do the rainbow.” He said clearly with a smile. He didn’t even need to look behind him to know that his friend’s had the same smile as he did.
“Great!” She seemed excited at his answer. She grabbed the capsule of red glitter. But then looked at Alex, the glitter then at Reggie. “Actually Reggie, come over here.” He scooted next to the ottoman Alex was on. She bent down and started to apply glue under his eyes. “It’ll just be easier to do all the red I need now. Then I’m not risking making a mess.” She explained once done with Reggie’s glue application.
After, she went back to Alex and carefully applied the red glitter to the right side of his face. She was more careful with his since there were more colors and it would look neater with no over lap of colors. Once she was done with the red on him, she moved over to Reggie.
He couldn’t help but jump up to admire the new addition to his face in the mirror. “Luke! Look how sparkly!” He dived on the bed and moved his head around to show the sparkles to his friend. Luke couldn’t help but smile at the excitement from Reggie.
Julie continued to put the small glitters across Alex’s under eyes, hoping she estimated right with how much to put on of each color so it wouldn’t look wonky in the end.
“Are you doing it diagonal across?” He could have opened his eyes and have seen some in the mirror. Though, it was relaxing closing his eyes as she worked her magic.
“Not straight.” She said without really thinking until she got a chuckled reaction from all of them. “Yes diagonal.” She agreed while also having a smile from what she had said.
She had put the red, orange, yellow, and green on his face, reapplying the glue that had become dry on him. It was when she reached for the next color that she was reminded of who else had to go.
“I can go after you’re done with him.” Luke already knew what she remembered when she paused before applying the blue glitter.
She nodded as she added the blue then indigo then purple to finish the look off. “You’re all set. ” She stepped aside so he could see himself in the mirror.
As soon as he moved his head around, all the sparkles shined. “Definitely eye catching. Can see why Dirty Candi sparkles so much.”
Julie looked at Luke, the odd one out who didn’t have glitter on his face yet. “Do you want blue or-”
“He might want purple.” Reggie input.
“Or maybe purple and blue.” Alex added.
They knew exactly what they were doing with the colors they suggested and the implications of them.
“I can do blue.” He tried to tune out his friends who were being embarrassing. “I mean not that I don’t want purple, it’s a great color, it’s just that you know you’re already wearing the color and I wouldn’t wanna take that away from you. Plus, do purple and blue even look good together? I mean I hope they would, it would be a shame if they didn’t. Because purple is such a-”
“Got it. Blue for you.” As much as she wanted to hear Luke explain why he liked the color purple, Alex and Reggie were enjoying it too much as he fumbled over his words.
She grabbed the blue glitter container and the glue and sat on the bed across from Luke, matching his way on sitting cross cross on the bed. She unscrewed the glue.
“Why don’t you two make sure everything is ready before we have to go?”
“Really?” Alex sighed. “I mean we’ll just poof in and it’ll all be there and it’ll-” the look from Julie said otherwise, “Alright, let’s go Reg.”
“Oh, that wasn’t hard.” Luke said when the two had poofed away. Sometimes it easier than others to make the two leave.
“Now that they’re gone you can explain to me why you like the color purple.”
...Well he wasn’t completely in the clear even without the addition of Reggie and Alex.
“Oh well,” he looked up when she started to apply the glue, knowing perfectly well he didn’t need to, “it’s a great color... it looks great with anything-”
“Even blue?”
“I mean, if you think it looks good with blue then... yeah sure. I mean I’d hope it looks good with that color because- oh that stinks so bad.” He got a whiff of the glue.
“Oh don’t complaint,” she smiled, “Alex and Reggie said nothing of the smell.”
“How close are you getting to my eyes with that? It feels like you might go right into my eye.”
“I’m putting as much on you as I did their’s.” She capped the glue when she applied an even layer on.
“This is gonna suck to take off later, isn’t it?” He now looked at her since the glue part was done.
“...We can figure that out later.” She fanned the sides of his face to make the glue become tacky quicker.
“That was really great that you gave the option of rainbow for Alex.”
“Yeah.” She smiled trying to imagine how much it meant to him. “I figured he’d probably go with pink but considering I had all the colors for a rainbow... he could go with that.”
“We definitely couldn’t have done something like that back in the day.”
“Well,” she unscrewed the blue glitter, “happy to tell you that times have changed.”
She started dabbing the blue on him. This time, he didn’t look up. He continued to look at her.
“Do you want this blue all throughout? I have other shades. I could do a gradient from dark to light or-”
“Do you like blue?” He asked in more of a whisper than intended.
She hesitated, still applying the glitter. “...It’s a complicated... color. Not that it itself is complicated just- considering the other factors of that... color.”
Subtly was absolutely not their game.
“...Even with purple it looks... good?”
“...I mean what do you think?”
“Hey! You can’t turn this back around on me. I’m asking the questions this time.”
“Fine,” she rolled her eyes, “blue is-”
“Oww, oww, oww! That’s like right in my eyeball.” He cut her off feeling a rouge glitter irritate his eye.
“I was distracted by your questions.” She tried to fix it while he leaned away to try to fix it himself. “Come back here you’re gonna make it worse. Luke come-”
“Oww!” He let out trying to fix it himself, even though he couldn’t see anything at all with what he was doing.
“Well now blue’s being complicated.”
“Well purple is- OWW! OWW! Okay, okay, help please.” He leaned back to her while scooting closer so she could get out the loose glitter as soon as possible.
Like a game of Operation, she meticulously removed the single glitter.
“That was almost a catastrophe.” She showed that she was successful by flicking away the straggler. “Sorry I called blue complicated.” She added the last blue glitters to his face.
“Sorry I almost said purple was taking too long with her answers.”
“Blue did the same with his.” She pointed out.
“I know blue did, makes more sense purple would take more time with hers.”
They might have been beating around the bush, but the two smiled at each other knowing what the other was meaning when they said the color names.
“There.” She signaled she was done by putting the lid back on the container.
He looked passed her shoulder in the mirror. “Wow!” He seemed happy with the job she did. “You should do this more often.”
“Just not the getting glitter in the eye part?”
He laughed. “Yeah not that.”
His eyes couldn’t help but look at the glitter on her as her eyes did the same with his. Conscious of the distance between them.
“Maybe purple would look good with the blue.”
“Now you tell me that.” She laughed.
“Unless, making a dark purple would be another option.”
Theoretically, given that the colors were stuck to their face and couldn’t mix to make a new color, making dark purple would be a challenge.
“I think,” Julie gave her input, “purple and blue would look rad together.”
It wasn’t until later at the performance, when the light hit the glitters on the Julie and the Phantoms band, why there seemed to be extra mic shares than normal, even with the inclusion of Dirty Candi on the stage. When the light hit, was when the drummer and bassist noticed the little mixture of purple and blue glitters across their friends’ faces. A sprinkle of blue on Julie’s and a bit of purple on Luke’s. At least it was true that purple and blue looked good together.
