Stop! It’s crab time!

In a grave error of the ADHD variety realized I never posted the master list of real world crustaceans that I reference when I draw singer/listener/fused forms

Locking it under the cut for those uninterested in me discussing crabs and shrimp. There’s a lot of creepy crawlies so if you’re really sensitive to spiders or scorpions I’d suggest not looking

WOE! CRAB BE UPON YE!

Dull form = nothing!!! No crabs at all!

The existential terror of dull form kind of freaks me out tbh. I think in the same way their agency is gone their connections to being crustaceans are gone

War form = spiny king crab, Paralithodes rathbuni

These crabs look like they would go to war, I trust them in battle.

Nimble form = Atlantic blue crab, Callinectes sapidus

Also known as the Chesapeake blue crab, these guys look like they would be super fast in a fantasy novel. Their blue to red gradient is something I find very beautiful!

Work form = red spotted smooth box crab, Calappa calappa

There are a couple different species of box crab, but I think that the smooth box crab exemplifies work ethic needed for this form, spiky box crabs are extraneous and showy.

Mate form = coconut crab, Birgus latro

I think that color gradient on their limbs (this specimen doesn’t really show how blue they can get sometimes) could be interpreted as sexy to other crabs. But this is mostly because I think they’ve got those little bumps and ribs along their- I shan’t say!

Art form= candy crab, Hoplophrys oatesi

This is purely vibes based, I think this crab does art! It barely looks real! I love it!

Scholar form= lined shore crab, Pachygrapsus crassipes

This is a personality based one. These little guys hang out in rock crevices all along the PNW of America and I love to see them, their markings are beautiful and vibrant close up and when they all hide next to one another it looks like they’re scheming against you. The look is sophisticated but the vibes are scheming

Mediation form= harlequin shrimp, Hymenocera picta

I want this shrimp to mediate all my arguments! I trust that it would be fair! These guys are also popular in home aquariums apparently so there’s actually a ton of color variations they can have

Due to tumblr’s image limit I’m gonna split everything into two posts! I’ll post the Fused crab-claims right after this
