It came as no surprise to me that Mitsunari’s ability to aim was somewhat south of negative forty-two. His tosses got nowhere near the person he threw to, but that just added to the silliness of it. It went on this way for a good half hour or so, until I had the temari and Mitsunari ran straight toward me. I tossed it to Hikosane, but Mitsunari, distracted by the sudden appearance of Hideyoshi in the yard, was unable to stop his forward motion.
… and that’s how Mitsunari and I ended up in the ornamental fish pond.

Throwback Thursday Returns...
With A Mitsunari Night's Dream...
From March 2022 through October 2022, chapters of this story were originally posted on Ao3, with only excerpts and links posted on Tumblr.
Starting April 11, 2024, all chapters of A Mitsunari Night's Dream will be reposted on tumblr. One or two chapters will be uploaded every Thursday, and run episodically through late Autumn (or, basically, hopefully finishing around the time I have Yuki's route up and running).
The fic will stay fully published on Ao3, if you ever want to read ahead, but it will now also live on Tumblr.
If you want to filter out the reposts, block the hashtag “TBTMND.” (Or, if you don’t want to miss them, LMK if you want tagged).

Just skimming through my Ao3 tags... they are all fairly standard, except for "aggressive sentient cookie man" (which was the prompt for a prompt fic) ... so I am not sure that counts as my own tag.
The funniest tag that I've used is, after the tag "slow burn" I used the tag "really slow burn I mean it" after which was the tag "eventual smut." Pretty sure the order of those tags answers the "why" of the middle tag, but basically, this was a romantic/adventure longfic between a shy-about-love hero and a heroine determined that their fake relationship stay all business.

What is the funniest tag you’ve tagged a fic with? Why?

REQUESTS ARE NOT OPEN YET!
REQUESTS WILL BE OPEN AT 2 PM UTC [ FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 30TH ] (CLICK HERE TO FIND OUT WHAT TIME IS THAT FOR YOU OR SIMPLY GOOGLE “2 PM UTC TO MY TIME”)
Surprise! I decided to take requests after all! :) Note that many of the prompts are already taken, by friends of mine. I hope you can help me fill in the gaps with your wonderful ideas! ❤
I'm taking requests for prompts of my Visions of Temptation 2022 Kinktober Content Creation Challenge. Check out the original post for all additional info about the challenge you might need, like explanations of some of the prompts.
This is first batch of requests. You can expect a second batch at a later date. 10 slots available now.
I'm posting the requesting rules + available prompts and characters now, in advance. This is because in previous requests openings, all slots get taken in less than 15 minutes. In order to give you a realistic chance of securing a slot, I'll let you prepare in advance. You can construct your ask now, copy it and paste it into my askbox when the time comes!
RULES:
all of those are going to be explicit fics. Minors DNI
Once 2 PM UTC comes I’ll make an announcement post featuring the same list of available prompts and characters you’ll see below. Don't send your ask before that.
That announcement post will be updated as fast as possible, with the taken prompts crossed out, as well as the taken characters. Don’t request anything crossed out!
Be sure to refresh the page before sending your request and make sure you’re not looking at a reblog of the announcement post because it won’t show any changes made to it!
Chose a prompt day - one of the pair, or both, if compatible. For example: ( Day 1 - Oct 1st - Oral sex  |  Sixty-nine ) can be combined so you can ask for both, while ( Day 2 - Oct 2nd - Sexy lingerie  |  Not wearing underwear ) cannot and you gotta ask only for one of the two.
Chose a dialogue prompt too, if you wish. Up to two from the dialogue prompt list. I'm going to repeat using those as many times as they get requested, so don't worry about whether they're available or not.
Chose your pairing. You can ask for Character x MC; Character x Reader(gender neutral or female (if unspecified)); Character x Character (M/M). You can also tell me if you prefer MC to be called her canon name or not.
Threesome is acceptable only for the prompt Day 12 - Oct 12th - Double penetration  |  Spitroasting
Don't hesitate being specific! You see that 'sex in a vehicle' prompt? Tell me where they fuckin! In a carriage? Or are we making this a modern AU?
Keep in mind that these are... a lot... it takes me a long time to complete a kinktober challenge. I hope you don't mind the wait and that it can be worth it! 🥺
Don't worry if your request fails to get in, there will always be a next time! The second batch, or later on. I participate in writing challenges all the time and often take requests.
reblogs are appreciated!
So, the format is: Prompt day (one or both) + dialogue prompt (optional)(1, 2) + pairing
example: Can I ask for Morning sex and dialogue “Come back to bed.” for Chevalier x MC?
██████ FANDOMS AND CHARACTERS I’M WRITING FOR:
- Ikemen Vampire: All characters (+ Charles, Vlad, Faust)

5. “Ah, I see you have a little problem. I can help.”
6. “I’ve never been into this stuff…until I met you.”
7. “I just like keeping you close. You’re so warm.”
8. “Be quiet. We’re not alone.”

10. “It’s okay, you’re doing great. Keep going.”
11. “Come back to bed.”
12. “You haven’t seen anything yet.”
13. “Can you feel what you’ve done to me?”
14. “Okay, but we have to be quick.”
15. “Fine, I admit, I’ve fantasized about this before.”
16. “I’ll go gentle. Though, we can always change that.”
17. “You shouldn’t have said that. Now I can’t resist you.”
18. “I knew you were secretly a pervert, but this…!”
19. “That’s it, there we go…just like that.”
20. “Are you trying to seduce me? Because it’s working.”
21. “It’s time for payback. Turn around.”
22. “So you do like getting spoiled after all.”
23. “Don’t stop looking at me while you do it.”
24. “You say that, but all I hear is ‘more, more, more’”
25. “I want to love every inch of you tonight.”
26. “Hey, hey, two on one is not fair!”
27. “Enough of that, let me fuck you.”
28. “You can still keep going?! What in the world are you?”
29. “Take your time. The whole night is ahead of us.”
30. “You like the way this fabric feels, don’t you?”
31. “Your face is a mess… a very pretty mess.”
Happy requesting everyone and good luck ❤ See you in my askbox soon!

All For Her - Kennyo X Reader X Yandere!Nobunaga
ACTUAL ENDING, ALTERNATE ENDING
So this fic is in celebration of mah boi Kennyo getting his English route finally! @silhouette-of-a-dream thank you for your input. I hope this fic is a good kick to Nobunaga’s ego [please do not come after me nobunaga stans]
I’m glad to be back and writing for asks. Thank you to all the IkeSen readers who liked my previous headcanons. Also, to the Nobunaga stans, please keep in mind this is a work of fiction and actual not-yandere Nobunaga would not do this.
TW: Yandere, Implications of Emotional Abuse
"How would you like to rule the world by my side?"
Those words…
Those words were your death sentence.
~○~
There he stood, the great daimyo of Owari as you humbly sat next to him, the veil shielding your gaze from your surrounding and the gaze of others from you. It had always been like this. Nobunaga was a possessive man, and you being deemed as his 'lucky charm' was no means of him letting go.
Feeling the atmosphere weighing down on you, you tugged on Nobunaga's sleeve, muttering about your need to leave. Nobunaga was a proud man, and what else could he do then to carry you away bridal-style in front of all his allies and his vassals?
"I will take my bride to rest. Celebrate without me."
He ignored the protests of Hideyoshi and whisked you away to his bed. For being the Devil King of the Sixth Heaven, his touch was gentle. The words he'd say have that edge that raised the hairs of your neck, especially when he untangles your hair with his fingers.
"Just wait my lucky charm. The wars are about to end soon…" He said, undoing your obi. "Then there would be no one brave enough to take you away from me. They'd be foolish enough to try in the first place."
~○~
The next morning you woke up, you were sore in your lower region. And alone. Of course he left you. The love bites he left on your neck started to ache as you looked around the room. He must've had another war council… You shrugged it off, getting dressed with the remains of what your kimono was.
Before you could get up, a hustle of maids stormed in, in their arms were heaps of fabric and cosmetics.
"Lady YN, Lord Nobunaga wishes for you to dress for the evening," Your most loyal maid, Kinu, announced to you.
Of course, that's how it always was.
He'd let you wander around ever so freely in the morning, but it was all a trap. Whatever guards he sent out to follow you were to only escort anyone whose gaze lingered too far to be sent to the dungeon; no questions asked. It was the only form of freedom he ever gave you, but it benefitted him in his own twisted, cynical tyranny.
"Kinu, please give me my formal wear," You asked her politely. Kinu nodded, ordering the other maids to prepare for you to walk around town.
The maids had brought you a simple kimono for you to wear, although its fabric was far from cheap. As your maids adjusted your hood, Nobunaga's loyal right hand man, Hideyoshi Toyotomi, entered the tenshu by your permission.
"Does Lord Nobunaga need me Hideyoshi-san?" You addressed him. Hideyoshi sighed, unsure of your attitude at the moment. As much as he was happy for you and his lord, your change in personality made it all so strange. Was his lord not enough for you? Or was he too much? As much as he wanted to interrogate, Nobunaga was strict upon the rules about his future bride.
He shook his head. "Not in particular. He will be busy today and I overheard you were going out today," He said, fishing out a bag of coins from his kimono. "This is Masamune's payment from last week, YN. He's a bit busy wrangling with some pirates to repay you properly… You can use it to go shopping today if you'd like."
You accepted the coins graciously, not daring to life your head to meet Hideyoshi's eyes. For as much as Nobunaga had faith in his vassals, you didn't know what he'd do if he heard of your entanglement with another warlord friend of his. You were protecting them, you whispered to yourself.
After Hideyoshi left you, you wrote a note, leaving it with Kinu before you went out. You had to inform the other seamstresses of your absence for today. It wasn't truly unusual for you to be gone, but you had to be courteous towards them. Perhaps you could purchase some fabric for them in return…
Four guards trailed after you. They were a different batch this time; from their uniforms you could guess they were under Mitsunari's regime. You walked on, ignoring the chatter of those guards and simply looked over the goods the merchants of Azuchi had to offer. There wasn't much for you to see, having walked around town at least once a week for you to see the same goods here and there.
You however, did notice a small shrine, just right on the outskirts of Azuchi as you went to purchase your usual sweet buns. You turned to the guards behind you, repeating your request to them as they were dumfounded the first time you said it.
"I said, I would like to go to the temple there. I wish to offer my prayers," You said promptly, staring down the guards. "Unless I have to report to Nobunaga of your mistreatment of me."
Well, being his lover had its advantages.
The guards sweat dropped, knowing what awaited them if you snitched on them.  They gave a knowing look to each other. Surely it wouldn't be so bad for the lady to offer some prayers for the sake of Azuchi right?
You walked up the corroded steps of the temple, finally approaching its gates. What a pity, you thought to yourself, seeing as how the wells were empty and the bushes were unkempt. You wouldn't comment on such things out loud, but you'd love to clean up and return to the shrine someday… That is, if that war tyrant would let you.
You had noticed that there was no pail for you to offer your prayers to. Surely, there must be some in the storeroom in the shrine…
"Lady YN! Watch―"
Before you knew it, you had a sword to your neck. The cold steel made you shiver.
"Pure maiden, what are you doing here?"
Your usual instinct would make you cry out for help, but your pride won't even allow you to seek help from anyone associated with Nobunaga.
"I came to offer my prayers."
"This is not a functioning shrine," The man who had his blade towards you pressed the steel further, but he didn't cut you. Instead, he walked around you to see your face. The purple robes and that scar across his face was all the characteristics for you to realise that the man who held his staff to you was Kennyo, the monk you met in the forest.
His stare was cold, but his eyes widened, recognising you. He removed the staff from your neck, and commanded the disguised men that subdued your guards to tie them up.
He turned back to you, asking you of your identity. "You are the future bride of Oda and the woman that appeared in the fire?"
"Unfortunately yes."
"Then I shall have to apologise for kidnapping you at the― My apologies, 'Unfortunately'? Did I hear you right?" Kennyo asked, realising what your reply meant. Would this be beneficial? He had to admit, Nobunaga was a lucky man now that he took a good look at you but no regular woman of Azuchi could resist that demon's wiles.
Kennyo sent his men off, wanting to speak to you alone. You didn't seem like you would run away, but he still had to use you to carry out his plan. He was quite taken aback at your apathetic state. He was sure you would cause a fuss after your guards were taken down, but you were relatively calm at the moment by the  way you were just sitting at the edge of the shrine steps rather calmly. Mike also approached you and you started to coddle him quite affectionately. Kennyo felt oddly warm inside, unsure how he should tell you that he meant to kidnap you.
You got the monk's attention by calling out to him, "Kennyo-san, you were talking about kidnapping me?" You said, stroking the adorable calico cat in your arms.
"I apologise for that statement," Kennyo coughed, relieved you snapped him out of his trance. "I would have to use you to carry out my plan."
You smiled, finding his honesty quite charming. "Well, I guess I have nothing better to do," You said quite boldly. "Kennyo-san, let me make this clear. I am not assisting you because I believe in your cause. I only wish to get away from Nobunaga, so please, after my part is done, let me go."
"Eh? Nobunaga is that bad in bed that you left him?" Another man approached you two, and you heard Kennyo sigh beside you. The man must've been an ally of Kennyo…
"Motonari…"
"What? You surely took your sweet time with the lady," He said, teasing the fellow monk.
"Well," You said, unsure how to insert yourself in the conversation. "This means I will work with you, Kennyo-san, Motonari-san."
~○~
"Kennyo-san? You called for me?" You said, entering his room. You had moved to Kennyo's official base, as the shrine near Azuchi was for Kennyo to oversee his wounded brothers.
Kennyo tensed up at your voice. Why did he call you again? He was a monk for the lord's sake, not some cheeky soldier…
"About your release…" He began. 'I don't want you to go…' He wanted to say. He couldn't, drinking his tea to stop himself from saying such embarrassing things. You were Nobunaga's betrothed. More so, you deserved better, especially with what you had been through.
"What about it?" You said, pouring more tea into Kennyo's empty cup. "I assume my duties were fulfilled then?"
"Yes," he said. "Your knowledge of medicine saved some of my brothers as well. I have to compensate you for that. Please ask for anything you want."
Anything you wanted? Those words struck a chord in you. Those words were what Nobunaga told you the first night he claimed you as his future bride. You remembered what you asked for and Nobunaga as the skilful warlord he is, cut down your request of freedom too.
Then came Nobunaga giving anything and everything he could to ensure your happiness. The point where it frightened you was when he presented the dead body of a vassal of his underling who had wronged you. His blood-covered sword was more than enough proof that Nobunaga had done the deed himself, even as he professed he killed the man in front of his whole council.
"Lady YN? Did I say something wrong?"
Kennyo's warm hands reached out to you, brushing away the tears that ran down your cheek. On instinct, you nestled into his large hands, looking at the man who had saved you from your nightmare.
"Kennyo-san, what would you do if I said I wanted you?"
You made the holy monk blush, his hand immediately retracted from your face as he blurted out all the reasons you should retract those words, "I am not worthy of your attention, Lady YN. I am no longer a man and instead I shoulder the sins that a demon such as myself are willing to commit. You are certainly ill if you think you could love a demon."
You simply laughed at his boyish shyness. "Kennyo… I am not pure as you think I am," You said, patting his head. "I'm sorry I blanked out. When you asked me to request anything, it reminded me of something similar Nobunaga said to me…"
You then explained all the horror you went through at Azuchi from Nobunaga. "He may not have harmed me physically but I can't help but be scared…" You said, finally giving in to your tears. "It must be silly for you isn't it? A person such as me confessing at a time like this…"
"You poor girl…" Kennyo brought you into his arms, claiming his finally resolve. "I will fulfil your request, Lady YN. For I too, love you more than anything else."
~○~
No matter how long you'd been in the Sengoku era, you still hated the cries of wars. You hated it, but not as much as the man who lead the Oda.
Seeing a young man in red return to camp, you immediately jumped at him. "Yukimura! Did you get any news of Kennyo?"
You were sent off to stay with the Takeda army as a form of alliance with Kennyo shortly after Kennyo's war preparations. Shingen and Yukimura had been hospitable to you, and you more than delighted to be reunited with your friend Sasuke from the Uesugi faction.
The Akazonae leader shook his head, almost regretting his words as he told you, "Some of my men said he finally confronted the Devil himself."
Amongst the bloodied war cries and the crumpled bodies of soldiers were two sworn enemies finally crossed blades.
"Your death will surely be my greatest victory," Nobunaga cried, swinging his sword at the monk. "The people would find it heroic how I rescued my bride from the Ikko Ikki's leader―"
"You defiled her!" Kennyo roared, unsheathing his staff. He blocked the rampant parries of the Devil King. "And you think that's love!"
"Of course," Nobunaga said smugly, dodging Kennyo's swing. "This war…
It's all for her."

2020 Fanworks Highlights!
It’s time to love yourselves! Choose your favourite works you created in the past year (fics, art, edits, etc.) and link them below to reflect on the amazing things you brought into the world in 2020. Tag as many writers/artists/etc. as you want (fan or original) so we can spread the love and link each other to awesome works!
I was tagged by @deejadabbles who writes wonderful Yu-Gi-Oh content, so the few of us in the Yu-Gi-Oh fandom, please check her out! I just happen to be rereading some old works, just to compare them with newer works and to see how I have improved over the year.
2020 was an amazingly productive year for me because of several lockdowns following after each other and forcing me to spent a lot of time at home. Fanfiction wise that means I wrote a whopping 182447 words (according to Ao3 to which I admittedly didn’t upload everything). Looking at my Masterlist I can say something similar just by the sheer size of the Masterlist of the masterlists compiled. 😂😂😂
In honour of this being a multi-fandom blog I will try to name pieces I like from as many different fandoms as I can. Listed and linked under the cut! Let me know what you think of my list and if you agree with my points, or if I (shamefully) forgot anything. 😅😅😅
Anyway, for those uninterested in reading about that, I’m going to tag: @nad-zeta, @silhouette-of-a-dream, @masamune-archive, @workbyrui, @kamesama, @ayyyez , @storiesthatneedtobewritten
Dusk - Yu-Gi-Oh; Vampire!Yami/Atem
I really like this piece mostly for the way I build up and introduced the setting, which is admittedly one of my weaker points in writing. It is experimental, it is new for me, but it is exciting and I think it is engaging enough to draw the reader in for more!
Train Buddies - BnHA; Yagi Toshinori / All Might
Now this piece was something that had been inside of me for a while before Anon made the request. An idea I had no idea how to put into words until Anon came around and I love that! It is also one of the few rare longer pieces I have written last year. I hope to do more of such longer pieces this year, because while drabbles are fun I also really want to improve on general story-telling.
Fun - Death Note; L Lawliet
This one was requested together by the same Anon from BnHA! 😂😂😂 What are the chances? Another longer piece I hope to do more of and a piece I actually recently reread just to review. I’m not entirely happy with it, of course, there are points I could improve upon, but in overall I think this is a nice piece that flaunts off the progress I have made over the year of 2020.
Spiderlily - Bleach; Ichigo Kurosaki
A short series with the spiderlily as a centerpiece. The spiderlily is one of my favourite flowers and it has a beautiful symbolic meaning that I wanted to incorporate into a story for a long while. I think I did a nice job in this piece!
Seasons - Bleach; Byakuya Kuchiki, Kisuke Urahara & Sosuke Aizen
Another Bleach piece! But there is just something about Bleach that I believe fits so well with these metaphorical and symbolic pieces. I have always wanted to write about a love(s) that is like the changing seasons. Personally, this short series is my all-time favourite of everything I have written.
Unfaithful - Naruto; Madara Uchiha
My first finished long series? Heck yes, that deserves a mention. It is a proud accomplishment. I still remember the day/night I wrote the first three chapters until some unholy hour in the am and then all of the fangirling in my inbox whenever I updated! Bless. 😂😂😂
Observing - Naruto; Rock Lee
I never expected that Rock Lee’s stories would be one of my most popular pieces here on this blog. I won’t complain though, he is a great fun to write and I like how my earliest long pieces are all him as well!
Chestnut - Naruto; Sasuke Uchiha
AGAIN. I love symbolism and metaphors and comparing the reader and Sasuke to sweet chestnuts and horse chestnuts was great fun. Especially as I basically wrote this piece underneath an actual (blossoming) chestnut tree.
Letting Go - Naruto; Tobirama Senju
Trigger warning: Implied Character Death!!! Y’all love hurting Tobirama, huh? That’s fine, I like writing angst as well. But I digress. I think everyone knows what it is like to lose something and sometimes secretly thinks of bringing it back. I certainly have and it hurts.
The Bae’st of All - Ikemen Sengoku; Kyubei
I like how everyone believes I’m absolutely in love with this man. He is dear to me, but mostly because I have put so much time and care in him. At this point Kyubei almost feels like my own character, with his own voice and mannerisms in my mind. Bless this man.
Kotodama - Ikemen Sengoku; Mitsuhide Akechi
Trigger warning: Implied Character Death!!! But what can I say? I just absolutely love morphing symbolism and metaphors into my story. This for the same reason.
Appeal - Ikemen Sengoku; Masamune Date
Earlier I had mentioned how writing and introducing a setting is one of my weakest points in my writing. It still is and introducing a fandom character that comes from essentially an opposite world than the world I have created myself and is very much unknown to everyone is definitely a huge challenge. To make sure that Masamune’s character still shines through and that he isn’t drowned out by the background of the world. phew I’m pretty proud of what I did here. Special shoutout to Mitsunari’s story in the same setting as well. And a shoutout to all of the fanart that helped me find inspiration to write this cyberpunk AU with my very own world.

Match up ♥
Hiya, hon! ♥ I love your match-ups and honestly, I’ve been meaning to request one for a loooong time, but I haven’t had the chance to do so till now cause I’ve been drowning in lots and lots of homework TwT
I’m female, 25 years old, dark chocolate, shoulder-length hair, brown eyes. I’m a small potato 157 cm (5'1 ft) and I’m curvy.
I’m a Gemini, INFP-A. I love and need my alone time, though I enjoy spending time with my friends and loved ones. I use my free time to write fics, read books (Though I haven’t read a book out of sheer pleasure in a long while thanks to college lol,) draw my stickemen and play League of Legends.
Being surrounded by too many people is draining af and it can quickly become overwhelming tbh. I prefer to be surrounded by a couple of calm people and be my yahoo self with them. Even though I’m a mature person, I can be very childish and stubborn at times. I’m the Mom Friend™, a worrywart cause I care, I have a strong personality.  I’m caring, kind, friendly, funny, assertive, strong-willed. I’m usually the one people goes to when they need a listening ear or a shoulder to cry on. I will stand for my friends without giving it a second thought. I definitely won’t tell you what you want to hear, but what you need to hear. And due to the way I express myself, people who don’t know me at all tend to find me intimidating which is kinda funny! 😂
When I’m with my friends, I try to come up with jokes or puns to make them laugh. I don’t take myself too seriously…I laugh at my own dumb-ass 😂😂 cause it’s okay to make mistakes, nobody’s perfect after all. And this is probably why it pisses me off when people make fun of my friends. Binch, fite me! So I just go and stand for them as politely and civilized as I possibly can. I’m usually talkative but every once in a while I just feel like isolating for a bit and be there exclusively for myself.
Hmm… I’m corny af and a hopeless romantic, I’m weak for smooth flirts and I like being teased cause I LOVE teasing back. I have a sweet tooth, I love tea. I love eating…in general.
I’m afraid I’m rambling at this point so Imma stop it here 😂
Thank you so much for doing these awesome match ups! ♥ ♥ ♥
Hi, there love! Thanx so much for the kind words, and can I just say I absolutely love your writing!  ♥ ♥ ♥ Hehehe also I feel you with the school work! I hope you enjoy it love, and I hope you have a good day! @venulus
So I match you with………………………. Hideyoshi
Tumblr media
So for me honestly it was between Hideyoshi and Mitsunari lol
Classic Hideyoshi did not trust you one bit. The moment you arrived, he saw you as a threat to his lord and was watching you like a hawk. You were quiet, stubborn and assertive and to him, that meant just one thing…. SPY.
You worked super hard and quickly started adapted to the castle life. Everyone that has worked with you absolutely adored you. Although Hideyoshi was still not buying it. He legit thought that sweet kind friendliness was all an act, to get the people around you to trust you. You kept mostly to yourself in any case, as you found loud people to be overbearing and exhausting, and unfortunately for you that would be most of the castle residents. Although in saying that you had started to form some good friendships among the Oda forces.
One day Nobunaga announced that they were going to war and that you and Mitsunari were to stay behind and guard the castle. You were super happy about that- well not happy that your new friends could die, but happy to get some alone time and not have Hideyoshi continually looking over your shoulder. Plus Mitsunari was one of your close friends so you were super happy he was staying behind with you!
You honestly never realized just how bad Mitsunari’s habits were until he passed out in front of you one day, while informing you of the state of the war. You knew the warlords cared for him, but you never realized to what extent. Your mama bear instincts instantly kicked in. You semi moved into Hideyoshi manor while he was away, so that it would be easier for you to take care of the resident angel. You made sure he was well-fed, room was clean and he got a decent amount of sleep. Hell, you even helped him work out an eating, training and sleeping schedule which you stuck on his wall to remind him to eat and sleep. After a while Mitsunari fell into a good routine with the schedule and was now almost capable of caring for himself
Mitsunari had one day informed you that the Oda forces had won the war and were now on their way back. The two of you cuties excitingly waited at the gate for your friends to return only for your faces to go from joyful to concerned in 0,2 seconds flat. Hideyoshi was passed out and heavily bandaged. Seem like the idiot went a bit over the top with protecting Nobunaga.
That night as you and Mitsunari gave your reports regarding the castle affairs in his absence, Nobunaga couldn’t help but noticed how healthy and good Mitsunari looked. You told him that you helped him organize his time and made sure that he all the basics were taken care of, i.e. sleeping, training and eating. Nobunaga thought for a moment and then broke out into the biggest grin “I commend you for your work with the castle and Mitusnari fireball, and I now assign you to care for my right-hand man”. You had no complaints, even though Hideyoshi hated you, the inner mom friend in you could never refuse someone in need of assistance.
You moved into Hideyoshi’s manor full time now. While you were there, you cared for both men. You changed Hide’s dressing, cleaned his wounds and made sure that he got plenty of food. Most nights, you would actually sleep in Hideyoshi’s room, caring for his high fevers and low key doing some of the easy paperwork just so that the man wouldn’t be overloaded with work when he was healed. Hideyoshi would shift in and out of consciousness, and boy was he confused to see you sleeping at his writing desk one night. Sometimes when he opened his eyes, he would see you place a cool soothing cloth on his head, other times he would listen to you talk about anything and everything. He would smile a little thinking that your presence in his room was a fever-induced dream.
After a week, his fever finally broke, and the wounds were now slowly, starting to close up and heal. He woke up that morning to you passed out at his writing desk. He had to do a double-take. He thought you caring for him had all been a big dream. He watched your beautiful sleeping face for a moment or two, draped his blankie over your shoulders and went to Nobunaga to receive work. His mind couldn’t help but wander back to you sleeping in his room, how many nights had he woken up to see you there by his side, and then the thoughts got dark, how many time had he accused you of being a spy of calling your kindness an act. HE felt his stomach drop, he honestly needed to make it up to you. But first he needed to check in with Nobunaga.
Nobunaga basically chased him away, saying he would only receive work once you reported that he was completely healthy and ready to come back to work. He walked back to his manor deflated, only to be met with you at the front door “where have you been young man, last time I check you just barely escaped death and are in no state to be walking about”. Hideyshi’s eyes widened he had never been scolded before. You stood there hands on your hips with the biggest frown, eyes filled with worry and concern. It made Hideyoshi’s heart melt that even though he had treated you like an enemy you still cared for him and spent countless days and nights by his side. You led him back to his futon and tucked him in. You brought him lunch and filled him in on everything that had happened since his been unconscious.
TBH as the days went by Hideyoshi was falling more and more in love with you, he could kick himself for treating you so horribly. And spending countless days with you, gently and sweetly caring for him, makes him realizes more and more what a gigantic fool he was. Yes, you were stubborn and assertive, but you were also the kindest, sweetest, gentlest, friendliest girl in the whole world.
He made a vow to himself, to make it up to you once he was all better. It took two months, but finally, this boy was back to his full health and absolutely smitten with you and you with him.
You had come to realize during your time with him what a naturally flirty charmer he truly was, and the mountain of letters he received from women no longer surprised you. Honestly his smooth flirting even had your knees going weak. You had come to enjoy the light teasing and banter the two of you engaged in as you cared for him. He loved that you weren’t afraid to give him the hard solid facts and be a friendly shoulder for him to cry on, especially during times when he felt so weak and worthless for being injured and unable to serve his lord. You would tell him what he needed to hear, not what he wanted to hear.
The time had finally come that you had to move out of his manor and back into the palace, and TBH Hideyoshi was actually a little sad. He was definitely going to miss your vibrant energy, and hours and hours spent together, talking each other’s ears off.
Now that he was healed it was time to make up for the ill way he treated you in the past, and low key thank you for taking such good care of him. He would take you out for tea every moment he could get. He knew you had a sweet tooth like Nobunaga, so he would ensure that there was always something delicious to eat at the little tea date the two of you went on. You of course never complained cause the three things you loved most in the world would be right infornt of you, tea, sweet and Hideyoshi.
You discovered that Hideyoshi actually had a hilarious sense of humour. The two of you would laugh and tease each other all throughout the dates. Ooh boy, did he love your puns and honestly you couldn’t help but laugh at his hilariously unfunny dad jokes.
Hideyoshi is very much like you, a hopeless romantic, so during his free time, he is always planning some or other fun activity for the two of you to do. Whether it’s holding your hand as the two of you, stroll on the beach or taking you up a mountain to watch the sunset together. He has always got something cute up his sleeve
Your favourite moment was one day when the two of you were out for tea, the sky started getting dark. The two of you were having such a good time you didn’t even notice it was about to rain. As the two of you were walking back to the castle the cloud burst and the light drizzle turned into a full-blown downpour. Even though you were super mature, you did have your childish moments. You looked up at Hideyoshi with the biggest grin on your face and started dancing in the rain, while he took cover at a nearby shop. With outstretched arms, you started twirling in the rain and splashing in the puddle “Hey you’re going to catch a cold”, at that you simply took Hideyoshi’s hand in yours and dragged him into the rain to dance with you. He shook his head at you, but couldn’t help but dance along with you.
You stared up into his amber eyes, and this was when Hideyoshi decided to make his feeling for you known. He cupped your wet cheeks in his warm hands and leaned down to capture your lips in a kiss.
After he pulled away and saw your sunshine smile, he picked you up and twired you around in the rain. He was so happy. The two of you played in the rain together without a care in the world until sunset.
Hideyoshi staying true to his doting self, of course, ran the two of you a warm bubble bath to fight off the chill from spending the afternoon in the rain. He pampered you from the moment you walked into his manor door. After your relaxing bath, he dried your hair and gave you a foot massage followed by a cheesy candlelit dinner for the two of you. He had been waiting so long to confess his feeling for you that he couldn’t help but want to pamper the shit out of his love
This man definitely respected your alone time and knew that everyone needed some time to themselves every now and then.
He loved it when you worked in his room and kept him company as he worked. Hideyoshi is definitely the type to drop a few kisses on your forehead, cheek and lips whenever the two of you bump into each other in the hallway.
He loves to spoil you any chance he can get. The two of you honestly turn into the castle mom and dad caring for everyone in the castle. Often the two of you cuties can be found nestled in each other’s arms or sharing sweets at your favourite tea house.
Other potential matches……… Mitsunari
 I hope you liked it, dear! <3<3

ikesen fic - the inevitable correction of treading through time (chapter 2)
Summary: You and Sasuke decide to make the timeline as close to your reality the only way you know how: by making sure the the Tokugawa Shogunate happens, no matter how many tries it takes.
— ieyasu/mc — "Ieyasu-sama has always been so ambitious," Mitsunari's tone is praising, but there is a mettle in his voice you cannot recognise.
[AO3]
[Prologue] [Chapter 1]
正しい時代
"There was a timeline where Nobunaga became Shogun," you tell Sasuke one night, after the adrenaline from the assassination attempt had passed. Ieyasu and Masamune had gone out to reassign guards, and you were left under Sasuke’s care.
The candlelight emphasized the dark circles under Sasuke’s eyes, but still they lit up in interest. “That would be quite a timeline. Nobunaga-sama was known not to respect the authority of the Imperial Court, and being Shogun would have meant he had to be at least civil with them.”
You laugh. “Oh, he still wasn’t.” You remember participating in meetings where the Imperial Adviser would be livid; half the time he would be storming out of Azuchi with smoke coming out of his ears. It was mildly funny until they attempted to burn down the castle.
“The court probably got tired of the power struggle and they poisoned him,” your chest tightens at this memory; Nobunaga was never easy to let go of, and you remember cradling his head on the night he took his last breath.
“It was the sake. From the Emperor himself. Although he probably didn’t have anything to do with it. Ieyasu didn’t sleep for a week, trying to make an antidote,” you pull the memory into color, trying to erase the hurt that overwhelms you as you feel Nobunaga’s touch cradling your face. “But not even Nobunaga is immortal. He told me to take care of Ieyasu because I’m, apparently, the most capable person in Azuchi.”
The purse of Sasuke’s lips are grim. “Nobunaga’s death seems to be a consistent event in all timelines.” He adjusts his glasses. “It is interesting how he always leaves his final will to you, the creator of the original time paradox. By accepting Nobunaga’s death, we bring closer this timeline to our original one.”
You’ve come to realize this truth ages ago, but that doesn’t mean you’ve accepted it. “Ieyasu will never become Shogun if Nobunaga is alive.”
“That is logical.” Sasuke tilts his head. “Will it happen with Hideyoshi still alive?”
You shake your head. “I’m not sure. I’ve never been to a timeline where Hideyoshi died.”
“Historically they both died before the events leading to the Tokugawa shogunate even happened.”
Of course you knew that; it was ingrained in you in every history class: stories about the Three Great Unifiers. The three rays of light of the Sengoku period, whose efforts paved the way to make Japan the country it was in your future. Nobunaga dreamed of peace, Hideyoshi fought for it, and Ieyasu attained it. The political intrigue of the period was the favorite subject of scholars and artists alike. Yet you’ve never heard of the events of your current timeline come to pass. “Did Hideyoshi ever try to have Ieyasu assassinated?”
“Not that I recall. There were rumors that the Tokugawa retainers wanted to assassinate Hideyoshi, not the other way around. But Ieyasu-san wouldn’t have it.”
“Of course he wouldn’t,” you say, because it is the truth. You know Ieyasu best, after all.
別の時代
It was almost winter, and yet Nobunaga has shown no sign of replying to the Emperor.
The Allied Azuchi Forces (a term Sasuke coined) are torn.
Hideyoshi, Mitsunari and surprisingly, Mitsuhide, seem to be all for the idea. Masamune, unsurprisingly, just said he didn’t mind no matter what happened as long as some action came out of it.
And Ieyasu? He was the only one vocally against it.
“It’s not right to go against the Ashikaga at this point,” he explains over dinner. “They’ve secured the seat of the shogunate and Nobunaga has endorsed them. Accepting the Imperial Court’s offer would be dishonourable.”
“Even if it’s the order of the Emperor?”
"They would just think we're making excuses." He pokes at the boiled fish on his plate, tasting a piece before making a face. "Besides, what is honourable is the same, no matter the circumstances or the situation."
You can't help but smile; that was such an Ieyasu thing to say. You open the small jar of spices and pinch some between your fingers.
"Teach me," you say, sprinkling the spice over his fish, "About honour."
Ieyasu scoffs, but you see the embarrassment he is masking. He spreads the spices on the fish using his chopsticks. "What needs to be taught? That's something even a young boy would know."
You glare at him. "In case you forgot, I didn't grow up here," and you make sure to emphasise the words, as if he would forget what they meant. "Besides, my honour and your honour might mean differently."
"That shouldn't be," he says before he takes a bite. You're sure he's content on how spicy it is because he doesn't even glance at the spice jar when you put it down.
You're not sure how to get your point across, so you start with the most uncomfortable thing you can think of: "People during my time don't kill themselves for honour, anymore."
That makes his chopsticks stop in mid-air.
"That just means," he begins, suddenly looking pensive, "That you come from a time where honor can be regained."
Ieyasu begins eating again, but his words have made you pause. “I...” you trail off with a tight feeling in your chest—then, with a burst of color, you recall 21st century Japan: modern, unique, full of opportunities. You think of your first job, fresh out of college, as a clerk in a department store, folding clothes, dreaming of cutting them up and creating something new. You think of your younger self, drawing clothes in the dark corner of a small apartment, knowing someday someone would recognize your work. You think of the day you got transported to the Sengoku, the day you felt your honor was restored because amidst all the discouragement and disbelief, you landed the job you always wanted.
That fateful day, your chest was white-hot with confidence. I'm becoming a fashion designer! But it was more than that.
That day, you felt like you could be anything.
People of the Sengoku had no opportunities to rise to the top. The chances they had in life were decided according to their social class, something unchangeable the moment they were born.
“I never thought of it that way,” you say honestly. "I feel a little silly for taking my Japan for granted."
To your surprise, Ieyasu brightens. "If yours is the future we are fighting for... then these wars are worth it. I would like to see my country have lasting peace, where people can grow and be honorable while being themselves."
The rare, soft smile on his face almost makes you cry.
You take his hand. Your throat is tight, but still you say, "We'll get there."
Ieyasu closes his eyes. His hand tightens around yours.
"Yeah."
正しい時代
Ever since you told them who the mastermind behind the assassinations were, you knew you entered uncharted waters again; a new timeline you have to live through for the first time. You stare at this new Ieyasu, the Ieyasu who proposed his intent make you his wife, and feel the fatigue of time traveling ebb away. All the moments together from this point on feel like accomplishments, and you wonder how much more you need to do in order for this to become your everyday.
Correction: now, you actually know what to do.
You present your ideas to Ieyasu, who, as always, takes working with other people with great reluctance.
"I don't understand," he tells you again, "Why we need ask help from them. They're practically the enemy."
There are many retorts you can say to this, but you choose: "They're not, in the greater scheme of things." You know choosing the high road will win an argument with Ieyasu; after all, he's always righteous... despite the thick sarcasm. "Besides, I don't know everything anymore. The more allies we have in this timeline, the better."
You squeeze his hand, trying to look casual as the two of you wander through the marketplace. Summer rains have made the ground damp and the air cold, but Azuchi is as lively as ever.
You see a familiar stall of women's accessories at the end of the merchant's row.
"Sasuke-kun! Yuki-san!"
As you approach, you see the two men turn towards your call. Sasuke does a small wave. Yukimura's eyes brighten when he sees you, but it all goes south when he spots Ieyasu.
"What the hell is he doing here?"
You hope Ieyasu won't take the bait, but he and Yukimura have always been able to get on each other's nerves even during peace negotiations. "I should be asking you that question. You're the one infiltrating Azuchi."
"Yeah, well, it's not that difficult to."
"Please. You only haven't been captured because you're not worth the time."
"What, you wanna go?"
You know you should break up the fight and tell them to behave, because there are more important things going on right now, but no anger swells in your chest. Instead, you look at Yuki’s scrunched eyebrows and at Ieyasu’s pursed frown and laugh out loud.
“I forgot how similar you two are,” is what you say first.
“W-what are you saying?!” and “Please, I’m not an idiot.” are the responses to your fond declaration. From the corner of your eye, you see Sasuke smile.
“Is this a constant?” He asks you, while Ieyasu and Yukimura bicker in the background.
You close your eyes.
Masamune. Sasuke. Yukimura.
In every repetition, you have determined who to trust.
Masamune would never betray Ieyasu.
Yukimura would never betray Sasuke.
Sasuke would never betray you.
It may be imperfect logic to determine your allies based on what the Sengoku period considers as loyalty, but you remember what Ieyasu taught you: what is honourable is the same, no matter what the situation.
You smile at Sasuke.
Maybe it works the same for a concept like friendship, too.
思い出
The clues that led you to discover Ieyasu's nemesis were scattered throughout the timelines.
In one of the your repititions, you decide to put more of an effort in understanding how Sengoku politics worked.
Perhaps, you thought, having a tactician's knowledge of how clans plotted against each other would give you an insight of who was trying to assassinate your most important person.
Mitsunari was the obvious option for a teacher. It was difficult to explain to him why you wanted such detailed backgrounds on every clan known to Japan, but when you visited him in the Azuchi library, he took the work with his usual academic enthusiasm.
"Ieyasu-sama's history is quite complicated," he begins, "He was sent by his family to become a member of the Imagawa. The Imagawa educated him, but didn't treat him as one of their own. In the end, he felt no loyalty to them, and became allied with Nobunaga-sama because when the Oda opposed the Imagawa."
You nod. You know this part by heart, thanks to Sasuke's occasional bursts of Sengoku 101 facts. Facts about Ieyasu were far by his—and, unashamedly, your—favorite. At the back of your mind, you wonder if you should have invited him when you approached Mitsunari.
"Ieyasu-sama has always been so ambitious," Mitsunari's tone is praising, but there is a mettle in his voice you cannot recognise. "His ideas and leadership prowess cannot be questioned. His strength, however, has always been his patience. He waits for the opportune moment to move. Waits for the right moment to create allies."
Mitsunari stills, and for a moment you think he will hesitate, but with the professionalism of a scholar he continues.
"He also waits for the right moment to betray them."
Every fibre in your body wants to argue, to be on the defensive. However, at this point you knew that any crack in your demeanor could work against you. Against Ieyasu. Instead of making a fit, you clench your hands and rise.
Mitsunari is not wrong.
You knew, of course, that like all clans in this era, the Tokugawa shifted through enemies and allies as fast as gamblers traded cards. Mitsunari was probably referring to the time Ieyasu had fought wars for the Imagawa before betraying them for Nobunaga.
He was called a traitor to Mikawa by many. But you knew the truth. Ieyasu loved Mikawa. His eyes were calmer when he saw the soft light of the eastern sun hit the farmlands. His eyes lit up when he saw the glittering of Aichi's sea.
Out of all his conquests, Ieyasu fought against the Imagawa because he was loyal to the people of Mikawa.
Once Ieyasu decided he would be loyal to something, you knew it in your heart—he would probably be loyal to it forever.
Turning away from Mitsunari, this certainty is what makes you finally say, "Ieyasu would never do that to the Oda."
The silence is thick until you hear him close his book. He settles it atop of the table you both used. When you glance at him, you could see the lines of a general on his face, deep wrinkles of knowledge that were not there before. When was the last time you saw his sweet angel smile, you absently think, as you watch him remove his glasses and stand.
You realise the conversation had turned dark. You decide to change the topic, hoping Mitsunari would accompany you for some afternoon sweets.
The invitation never leaves your lips.
"I believe you," he finally replies, looking you straight in the eyes, "but don't expect everyone to."
正しい時代
"Teach me," You say again, like a lifetime before, "About honour."
This time, Ieyasu's cheeks turn red. You sense his urge to brush you off, but you suppose after his proposal he realises that it would be futile to try and push you away. He lies on his back on the futon you two share and takes your hand from under the sheets.
"Right now, you're chatelaine of Azuchi," he begins, "and Nobunaga has entrusted you with not just the castle, but also the town."
"Well, that would be stretching it a bit," you reply, "He entrusted me to take care of you and the others, whom he entrusted the castle and the town to."
Ieyasu shakes his head. "He sent his will to you, and no one else. Among all of us, that makes you the bearer of his ambitions."
The weight of your role has not been put in words this clearly before, and you realise it is probably because this is the first time you've had this conversation.
Then, he continues, "You, the bearer of his will, and I, the one tasked to accomplished it... we're, well," he looks away, covers his mouth with a hand, and coughs, "involved."
You laugh. "I believe you called me your future wife."
The flush is still on his cheeks. "What? I'm not taking it back."
“And I'm not going anywhere until it happens."
He looks at you as if he didn't expect you to say that, but instead he says, "I know that." Then, still red-faced, he continues, "Anyway. The point is, we both have power in Azuchi."
"Also we're lovers."
Ieyasu sputters, but agrees. "And right now, we're probably the two most influential people in the castle."
You nod; that much was true. With everyone except Masamune back in their own domains, you and Ieyasu made all the major decisions—based on Nobunaga's will, of course.
Ieyasu was getting somewhere with this exposition. "Now, Azuchi has a farm to feed it, an army to protect it, and people to live in it. If you were to give up two of those and only leave one remaining, which one would you choose?"
"That's easy: the people, of course."
"You'd be surprised how it's not so easy for others to make that answer." Ieyasu pursed his lips. "Alright, you've chosen to protect the people. As a leader, that's honourable. What if someone you respected decided otherwise?"
"Well, that depends."
"Depends on what?"
"On who it is."
You can sense his frustration with your tangential answers, but his patience with you does not falter. Pinching his nose, Ieyasu clarifies, "What if it was Masamune? He wants to prioritise the farm."
You scoff, "I don't think he'd want to do that..." but the look on Ieyasu's face reminds you to stay on topic. "Well, I'd fight him on it."
"Good. What if it was Hideyoshi?"
"I'd still fight him on it."
"What if it was Mitsuhide?"
"I'd be scared, but I'd still fight for the people to be the most important."
Ieyasu looked pleased. From his lying position, he turns to you and curls his fingers by your cheek. Your breath hitches as he leans in. You expect intimacy, but instead, in quiet voice he continues,
"What if it was me?"
別の時代
"Run, Princess!"
Masamune's voice is shrill throughout the gunfire. Heat from the flames burn your skin and your senses are overwhelmed by desperation.
"Ieyasu," you're able to shout, "Where's Ieyasu?"
It's not the first time you've been in the heart of a battlefield, but the fatigue is catching up to you. The hands that hold your bow and arrow are shaking, and your lungs feel like they're grating against your ribcage.
Your eyes dart around the area quickly. The smoke is so thick, you can barely see past what your hand can reach.
Panic slowly fills up in your chest.
You're not ready to give up this timeline, you think. You don't want to go through Ieyasu dying again.
"Are you okay?"
Sasuke suddenly appears next to you, kunai at the ready. He casually throws a knife to an enemy soldier five feet away; the knife lodges in the man's forehead, and he drops dead. "Did you get separated from Ieyasu?"
You nod. "When the first gunshot blew up the carriage, he pushed me out of the way. I was with Masamune for a while, but..."
You don't need to say anything more. Sasuke takes your hand and pulls you from the battlefield, into a small clearing covered by trees.
"The next wormhole will appear in Rinzaiji Temple in three days," he says matter-of-factly. As if you were conversing in a safe place, Sasuke cautiously removes his glasses and wipes them against his gi. "If you leave now, you will make it in time."
The suggestion is logical, but you instinctively rebel against it. "We're not even sure if Ieyasu is dead yet," you grit out. "We're so close, Sasuke. Just a little more, and I think I can find out who—"
Several gunshots interrupt your thought, and your head snaps back to the carnage.
You will forever remember that moment. How, with lightning clarity, you saw him. The smoke and the flames parted, and by some god's will there was a straight path from you to Ieyasu. Everything else was white noise. Suddenly nothing else mattered.
You take in his outline: his arm is bent in an odd angle and there is blood spilling from his shoulder. His hands are empty and his sword is nowhere to be found.
He got shot, is what you first think, and your knees automatically brace for a run.
"Princess," Sasuke holds you back, "This timeline may be a lost cause."
You rip your arm away from his grip. "Even if that may be true, I can't just leave Ieyasu."
"The statistical chances of saving him right now are close to zero. However, if we proceed to Rinzaiji and you time jump, we start on a clean slate."
A part of you is angry you are wasting time conversing with Sasuke, but the experienced time traveler in you rationalises the idea.
Before you are able to process any decision, however, you notice there has been a change in the background noise of the battle. A part of the field has gone quiet, and you see three samurai on horses approach Ieyasu.
You feel yourself go cold. "Who... who is that?"
They carried Nobunaga's flag and wore armour so black they would blend in with the night. Their kabuto helmets were the color of a dark void. Their outlines would have been unfamiliar, but you lived long enough in Azuchi to recognise mannerisms and movements.
Your heart cannot believe who they are, but your mind acknowledges it to be true.
You can see Ieyasu's lips moving, can see the proud tilt of his chin stay firm as he speaks to his enemy. His opposite hand is attempting to compress the wound on his shoulder, but the blood gushes out of its own accord, dripping down to the soil. Despite this, he stands up with all the regality and grace you have come to know him for.
Sasuke senses the danger that you refuse to acknowledge. "I do not advise we stay around to watch," his voice is soft as he takes your hand. He attempts to guide you away, but it lacks his actual strength. You imagine he also cannot tear his eyes away.
As the next events unfold, you think of a million things.
Maybe it would be different if you listened to your heart minutes earlier.
Maybe this timeline was the one you shouldn't have given up on.
Maybe you could've saved him.
Maybe this time, Ieyasu could've lived.
You wish you could say you ran to him. You wish you could say you broke through the bushes and tried to stop what was about to happen.
But you did nothing.
One of the samurai drew his sword.
正しい時代
"What if it was me?"
You're not sure if this is a trick question. You and Ieyasu have always been similar-minded when it came to policies, and it was rare you disagreed with each other in a war council.
"I would convince you to see my point," you answer finally.
He shook his head. "Negotiations are noble, but often fruitless. And if I stood my ground?"
You lean into his touch. You're not sure what he wants to prove, but your answer is set.
"I am your future wife. If you go astray, it is my duty to protect the integrity of your ambitions."
If Ieyasu is shocked by your answer, he doesn't show it. Instead he smiles, and it is gentle and true, so much like when he brought you on the flower field and admitted he loved you.
He kisses your forehead.
"Good."
思い出
Everything was a blur after, when you ran towards Rinzaiji, towards the wormhole.
Still, you remember screaming when Hideyoshi took Ieyasu's head.

Note
Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written, then pass on to at least five other writers. Let’s spread the self-love ❤
Hi Scorchie!
Thank you for the love! 🐱
Ok, lets see here... they are all my babies, but, if I had to pick only five:
A Simple Game (or here on Ao3). This was a prompt challenge where the prompts were: Mitsuhide, Shingen & Motonari + “I can explain” + Only one bed + SFW. These three characters, are three of the craftiest characters in the game. Two spy masters and the man called the God of Deceit. I loved creating a fic where all three of them tried to out-maneuver each other, seemingly for the right to the last room in an Inn on a stormy night... but actually for information about each other.
Snowglobe (or on Ao3) - Flashfic, Yoshimoto and an unnamed MC. Sasuke brings Yoshimoto a gift from the future - a snowglobe, unaware that the girl inside is real, and trapped. But who rescues whom? I just had fun with a kind of fairy tale tone. I kind of want to revisit this one and make a longer story or series out of it... but it's also sort of perfect as is.
What Dreams May Come (or on Ao3) - In which I discover that (1) AUs are very very hard for me to write and (2) sometimes the story knows better than the author. I tried to force the story into one direction - and the story wasn't having it. But I love the results, which possibly might not have gotten there if I hadn't been in such turmoil over it. Angsty Napoleanic War/English regency AU story about Hideyoshi dealing with guilt after Mitsunari is injured saving his life.
Dear Kitsune - Because comedy will always be my first love. This fic had me playing both with content and graphics, and it spawned a collaboration with @lorei-writes for what ended up being a really fun event later that year. It was also the first time I really tried to get into Mitsuhide's head... although... he kind of ended up going into mine instead.
Twelve Lies I Told Shingen Takeda - Because it was writing this fic that saved my sanity during the pandemic. I'd stopped writing fanfic a while before, and Ikesen / Shingen brought me back to it. It opened up a whole new community for me, and I'm very grateful to that. Plus... Shingen is pretty damn perfect muse.

Nobunaga and the Danger of Cups
So. This is based on a dream I had where Nobunaga was jealous and super cryptic and tried to make some actual sense of it. Also the title I find hilarious and also relevant to the fic. A win-win!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Nobunaga and his vassals were hosting a celebratory feast for their allied nations. The castle was filled with people-- mostly nation leaders and their lovers-- and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. I was chatting with several of the ladies, when I noticed Nobunaga growing tense from across the room.
Suddenly, a man I didn't recognize bumped into me. I turned to make sure he was okay. "Ah, yes, I'm so sorry!" The gentleman bowed, and insisted on making it up to me by sharing a drink together. "I don't know if I should," I hesitated, scanning the room for Nobunaga. "Please, I insist. It is my favorite cup of tea and I can't leave until I make things right with the Oda's princess."
It hit me then that the man was most worried about my boyfriend's reaction to the scene. I laughed softly and agreed to have a cup of tea with him. The beverage was warm and musky, definitely a darker tea blend. Likely an imported tea leaf, I noted. We made idle conversation, and when we went our separate ways, I assured him I wasn't going to mention anything to Nobunaga.
However, as I made my way back to my group of friends, I couldn't see my lover anywhere. "Excuse me, ladies," I said as I approached the women. "Have you seen Nobunaga?" They all shook their heads. One of the women spoke up, "Maybe he went to get some more alcohol, I heard the buffet is running low."
Quickly, I marched through the halls, until I saw that Mitsunari had several bottles in his arms. Maybe he went to the tenshu, I wondered, and turned around. When I made it to our bedroom door I knocked, but heard no reply. Inside, there was a lone lamp illuminating the room, and Nobunaga was on the balcony.
I hurried to his side, "Nobu--?" My throat had run dry, and I coughed lightly. "Nobunaga?" He turned to me, and I could tell he was out of sorts. His normally warm eyes had grown icy cold, and I felt microscopic under his heavy gaze. "What's wrong?" I asked. He clicked his tongue, and stepped towards me, all of his height looming over me.
He reached a hand out and caught a lock of my hair and brought it to his face, and sniffed. "You smell unfamiliar to me, now. Tell me, who were you fraternizing with?" I took a step backwards. "Just some of the other princesses and--and…" I sighed, "I don't know his name, but he merely wanted to drink together to apol--"
Nobunaga clapped his strong hand down on the balcony railing. "Show him to me." His voice reverberated off the walls, echoed in the night air, and filled my ears. "Oh, it's not like that! He bumped into me and--" I scrambled to piece together a quick explanation. Nobunaga wouldn't have it. "Now."
I stormed out of the tenshu, and heard his heavy footsteps following behind me. Before we reached the end of the hallway, I spun around. "So, when I show him to you, what are you going to do?" I spat at him. Nobunaga's presumably drunken rage began to fade from his expression. "Tell him to--" his voice held none of its previous anger and faded into the silence between us.
"Just so you know," I cut through the tension. "He and I had a cup of tea because he accidentally bumped into me." I glared into his eyes, which would not meet mine. Nobunaga stood still, as I continued to unleash my frustration. "So, you were going to start a fight with one of your allies over a cup of tea?" I scoffed, "Come find me again when you've sobered up."
Back at the party, the refreshments were becoming sparse and the couples were pairing off. My new friends were sitting in a wide circle, all snuggled up with their partners and holding conversations with one another. I sat down at a dining table, feeling isolated and mad. Nobunaga returned, and sat at a distant corner of the table. He joined in their lively discussion and periodically teased me and threw glances my way.
I wasn't sure how it happened, but the topic of love spells was brought up. Likely by one of the couples still in their honeymoon phase. "Two people must drink the same tea from the same pot at the same time in order for the love spell to work." I overheard the explanation, secretly curious to try it. Nobunaga spoke aloud, "Let's test it-- unless nobody here wants to risk falling in love with me."
I felt his eyes boring into my profile, and I grumbled under my breath. "Ah, no takers? Then I must find a suitable mate myself." My stomach flipped and I worried Nobunaga might be trying to end our relationship through this game. Suddenly, a shadow hung over me from across the table. I looked up, unable to hide the emotions on my face. Fear, frustration, and sadness all clearly etched into my expression as I met his gaze.
"I shall share a pot of this love tea with you, and if you smile afterward then you will warm my bed." Nobunaga grinned, full of self-satisfaction. I rolled my eyes, and turned away. "I know for a fact I won't be smiling," I murmured. "Ha! The bet is on-- Hideyoshi, please bring a pot of tea and two cups!" Nonunaga's voice was thick with confidence.
Some short time later, Hideyoshi brought out the herbal tea blend and our cups. "Oh! Drink it at the same time, and look into each other's eyes or else it won't work." One of the ladies clarified as we poured the tea. I scowled into the hot liquid at the thought of maintaining eye contact, but felt the need to win the bet. "Fine," I said, lifting my glass. Nobunaga mirrored my position, and we locked eyes as we began to sip.
Breaking eye contact only long enough to blink, together we finished the tea at the same time. Nobunaga smiled and put down his cup. "The tea is fine, but I've had better cups." His smile widened and I knew he was thinking about our first encounter in his tenshu. I blushed and felt a smile creep onto my lips. "There! I've won the bet." Nobunaga said, gently sliding a thumb across my bottom lip. I felt my face sag, and knew I had been smiling as I reminisced.
"No. No, no." I groaned, staring at the ceiling. The couples all giggled, like there was some sort of an inside joke I wasn't aware of. Nobunaga's expression went serious, and he grabbed a bottle of alcohol and reached out for my hand. Something in his eyes looked vulnerable and so I didn't protest.
He led me outside, by the back of the castle and held up the bottle over his head. "Nobunaga, wait--" I spoke but he cut me off with a stern look. "I know tonight didn't go as you hoped, and I drank far more than I should have." He paused momentarily. "I have never let my judgement become so clouded that I could not make sound decisions in the face of danger."
Nobunaga looked at me, still holding up the bottle. "Tonight, I could have put my nation in danger, but more importantly-- I could have put our relationship in danger." I felt my jaw fall, and I moved to be closer to him. Instead, he held a hand out to stop me. "I will break this bottle as a promise to you that I will never be that thoughtless again." He swung his arm toward the ground and released the bottle as though he were performing a touchdown.
The glass shattered against the ground and scattered in the grass. Nobunaga stepped over the debris with ease, and captured me in his embrace. "So," he said. "How about that bet?"
Honest-tea
This fic is entirely inspired by a dream I had of the last scene with Ieyasu and MItsunari. This is my first M/M fic, so if anything is really bad or cringy please let me know. Same if you like it. I can’t improve if I don’t know what works and what doesn’t. Guest appearances by Mitsuhide, Masamune, and an off-screen trio of Nobunaga, Hideyoshi, and the Princess.
Ikemen Sengoku
Ieyasu x Mitsunari
NSFW
2975 words
Could be considered dub-con.
Mitsuhide had everything set.
Masamune was hosting another of his enforced dinner parties to make sure they were all eating. It had been far too easy to distract Lord Nobunaga, Hideyoshi, and the Princess. A few words casually dropped near his Lord and he was making sure neither of his loves were leaving his tenshu until dawn. Possibly not until the following one.
He had planted to proper reading materials in Mitsunari’s stack earlier in the week. Hopefully he’d read it and found it interesting enough to retain it.
He had the sake ready for Masamune and tea for Ieyasu. He had left the tin of salve on the table next to his seat. All that was left was to put everything into action and hope that they took the opportunity presented to them.
———–
Masamune swept into his small hall bearing platters piled high with food. All perfectly prepared and mouthwatering to any who paid attention. As he sat them down he noticed several people missing from the guest list. “Where are Hideyoshi and our lovely Princess?”
“Lord Nobunaga has them shut up in the tenshu with him. Apparently there were ‘urgent castle matters’ that he needed them for” the sarcasm practically dripped from every one of Ieyasu’s words.
“I think it’s nice that they’re spending so much time together. Lord Hideyoshi has never been so happy. Though he is more tired of late.” Mitsunari’s cheerful tones brought a smile to everyone’s face save Ieyasu, who only scowled deeper.
“I can’t imagine why he’s so tired.”
“Now, now Ieyasu, no need to be petty.” Mitsuhide chuckled. “I know I for one have been reaping the benefits of Hideyoshi’s current distraction. Enjoy it while it lasts. He’ll be back sticking his nose into everyone else’s business soon enough.”
Masamune laughed at the three of them. “True enough. In that case I hope everyone brought their appetite, I cooked for six, not four.”
Sitting down Masamune began serving everyone. Conversation was light, no talk of war, but Mitsuhide had plenty of gossip to keep them distracted. Masamune never noticed when he switched their cups. Knocking back a deep draft of sake before the odor even reached his nose.
“Damnit Mitsuhide! Again!” He was already stumbling as he tried to rise to get to Mitsuhude.
“Where’s the fun if I don’t at least try?” Mitsuhide stood gracefully and placed a restraining hand on Masamune’s sword arm. “Here, to make it up to you I’ll even get you to bed, this time. I won’t leave you to sleep on the table.”
“You think that will make me forgive you?” his words were slurred, and he was barely standing.
“No, but I think it will give me an excuse to leave.” Mitsuhide swung one of Masamune’s arms over his shoulder as he wrapped his now free hand around the big mans waist to support him “Finish up without me, my hunger for the night has been sated.” he called over his shoulder as he went out the door. Leaning Masamune agaisnt the wall Mitsuhide quickly closed and barred the door. That should keep them in. Hopefully Ieyasu had drank enough of his tea by now. Once again picking up Masamune, the two headed off to the one eyed lords bedchambers.”You might not think so now, but you’ll be thanking me in the morning.”
The only response from Masamune was an angry grunt.
———–
“I do hope Lord Masamune gets some rest, he started to fall asleep so quickly.”
Ieyasu rolled his eyes as he sipped his nearly empty tea. “I’m sure he’ll be fine come morning, can’t say the same for that snake tomorrow afternoon.”
“I was so thoughtful of Lord Mitsuhide to assist him to his bedchamber” Mitsunari’s free hand drifted towards the book he had brought with him. A fascinating volume on naval tactics he had obtained from the Portuguese.
“If you’re to be my sole dinner companion could you at least pretend to pay attention rather than ignore me with a book again?” Ieyasu stabbed at his fish in irritation.
“Oh dear, my apologies Lord Ieyasu. May I inquire as to what you have been reading of late? Lord Nobunaga recently acquired several new trestices on Western Medicine that were quite fascinating.”
“I’ve been occupied with matters at home. Not that you would know anything about that.” Ieyasu ran a hand under his collar. (Was it getting warmer in here?)
“No, I wouldn’t, not having lands to manage does give me more time to devote to my studies, and to supporting Lord Hideyoshi.” Mitsunari took another bite, as always Masamune’s food was delicious, but not as easy to eat as the dried rice he usually had. “Are you alright, Lord Ieyasu? You’re looking a little flushed.”
“I’m fine”  another stab of his chopsticks to his fish.
“If you’re certain.”
“I am.”
MInutes passed without a word spoken between them. Ieyasu began to sweat. He tugged at his collar again, and shrugged his haori off, folding it and setting it aside. (Why was it so hot? It made no sense. Mitsunari looked fine. Why was he sweating?)
“Lord Ieyasu? Are you certain you’re alright?” Mitsunari shifted over to place his hand on Ieyasu’s forehead. “Are you fevered?”
“No!” Ieyasu grabbed Mitsunari’s hand “yes” he shifted his grip until he twined their fingers “maybe?”
“Let me check.” Mitsunari leaned his head down and touched his forehead against Ieyasu’s.
They both sat there, frozen for a moment. Until Ieyasu moved. Tilting his head up and pressing a quick kiss against Mitsunari’s lips.
“Lord Ieyasu?”
“Why are you so oblivious Mitsunari?”
“What? I don’t understand?”
“Of course you don’t.” Ieyasu sighed and moved back, keeping his grip on Mitsunari’s hand.
“If you tell me, I can try.”
“And what would even be the point? You’ll still drive me crazy.” Ieyasu slapped his free hand against his mouth. Where had any of that come from? Why was he saying this? Why had he let himself kiss Mitsunari?
“Lord Ieyasu,” Mitsunari laid his hand over their entwined ones. “You’re acting strangely. Would you like me to walk you back to your manor? Or I think Lord Masamune keeps a futon here, in case he falls asleep during dinner” Mitsunari trailed off as Ieyasu gripped his hand tighter.
“No. Just, just stay here. I’m fine. I just need a moment.”
Mitsunari settled onto the floor next to Ieyasu, still holding his hand. He looked at Ieyasu. He was flushed, and his normal disaffected expression was gone, replaced with tension and confusion. All of which only furthered Mitsunari’s own worry. He ran his thumb over Ieyasu’s knuckles in an attempt to soothe him.
“You are far too kind Mitsunari” Ieyasu’s voice was nearly monotone, lacking all but the slightest hint of sadness. “You allow everyone to walk right over you. To dismiss you. They all but spit in your face. And you smile, and bow, and provide every courtesy imaginable. And it pisses me off.” He began to growl, the anger he kept caged within him breaking out. “Have you no idea your own worth? What you would be capable of with a little more effort and training?”
“Not everyone dismisses me, Lord Ieyasu.” Mitsunari’s voice was barely above a whisper, but grew stronger as he continued. “Lord Hideyoshi, and Lord Nobunaga see me. As do Lord Mitsuhide and Lord Masamune. What do I need the acknowledgement of lesser men for?”
“And me. I see you. I always see you. And that pisses me off even more.” Ieyasu ran his hand through his hair in frustration. “And as much as you praise me, I don’t think you really see me.” Ieyasu’s grip tightened again. “I feel like all you see is the man I project, the mask I wear, not” he hesitated “not me. Not the me I want you to see. Just you.”
“You’re wrong. I do see you. I see the pain, and I see the strong decisive warrior that your past has made you. I also see your kindness.” Mitsunari lifted their joined hands and kissed across Ieyasu’s knuckles. “I see the armor you wear in the way you speak, in how you comport yourself with all but Nobunaga.” He reached up with his free hand and cupped Ieyasu’s cheek. “I see you, Ieyasu.” Their eyes met, saying more than words ever could. In that moment they did truly see each other, and knew that this moment, this one moment could change everything.
Both men leaned forward, meeting in the middle in a tender kiss. Ieyasu threaded the fingers of his free hand through Mitsunari’s unruly locks, his tongue tracing the other man’s lips, asking for entry, which Mitsunari gladly gave. Time seemed to stand still as they sat there, enjoying the feel of the one they had longed for, there, with them, and not pushing them away.
Mitsunari pulled away first, pressing his forehead against Ieyasu’s. “Are you certain? You’ve been acting oddly all evening, and I don’t want you to do something you’ll regret.” Fear warred with love and lust in his tone.
“I’m sure. I’ve wanted you with me for so long.” He gripped Mitsunari’s hair tighter. “I’m not sure why it’s all coming out tonight, but I don’t want to lie to you anymore. I don’t want to lie to myself.” Ieyasu tipped MItsunari’s head back slightly and kissed him again. Fiercer this time, deeper. Trying to convey with his actions what he was unable to in words.
Mitsunari met Ieyasu’s passion with his own. Leaning into the kiss, moving his hand from Ieyasu’s cheek to his neck, sweeping across his shoulder and pulling his kimono with it.
Ieyasu kept his grip in Mitsunari’s hair, but finally released the hand he’d been holding since that first kiss. Pushing Mitsunari’s kimono from his shoulders, and allowing his free hand to roam the other man’s chest, finding places that made him shudder. Mitsunari used both of his hands to free Ieyasu of his obi, his kimono pooling around his waist. Breaking their kiss he moved down Ieyasu’s neck, kissing, licking, and sucking as he went. Ieyasu moaned as Mitsunari found a sweet spot along his collarbone.
Both men’s hands were constantly in motion, exploring the other, looking for and finding all the places that made the other shiver, moan, or tremble at their touch. Both bared to the other, Ieyasu found Mitsunari’s cock first. He wrapped his hand around it, tracing his thumb over the head. Mitsunari moaned and leaned his head against Ieyasu’s shoulder. “Lord Ieyasu”
“No, Mitsunari.” Ieyasu was curt in his interruption. “No more ‘lord’. I am Ieyasu, as you are Mitsunari.”
The blush that flushed over Mitsunari in that instant went from the tips of his ears all the way to his toes. “Ieyasu,” he whispered “I like that.” And he took Ieyasu’s face in both his hands and kissed him until they were both gasping for breath. “My Ieyasu.” Mitsunari’s smile was so radient that Ieyasu had to look away.
“My Mitsunari” and he began to toy with Mitsunari in earnest. Finding every way he could to make the other man writhe beneath him.
Mitsunari felt his climax coming, and placed his hands on Ieyasu’s wrists. “Wait, stop. Not yet, I need to make you feel good first.”
Mitsunari rolled Ieyasu to his back, the shorter man acquiescing, but still running his hands over all of Mitsunari that he could get to.
Mitsunari briefly looked up, then reached for the table, grasping a small jar that looked familiar. Opening it he was sure. “Ieyasu, I believe we’ve been set up. This is the same ointment that Lord Hideyoshi carries with him all the time recently.”
“What?”
“He carries a jar of this with him, in case Lord Nobunaga wishes his company.” Mitsunari almost giggled. “Lucky us, that the one who set us up seems to have thought of everything.” He dipped two fingers into the jar, and used the thumb of the same hand to liberally spread the ointment over them.
It was Ieyasu’s turn to flush. “While I knew, I didn’t need to know.”
“My apologies, Ieyasu. I shall be more circumspect.” With that Mitsunari leaned down and captured Ieyasu’s lips once again. Driving all thought but those of each other from each of their minds.
Slowly Mitsunari worked his way down from Ieyasu’s lips, to his shoulders, to his chest. Pausing there to give ample attention to his, surprisingly, sensitive nipples. Kissing each scar he could find as he made his way to Ieyasu’s waiting cock. He took it in one hand before lightly kissing the tip. He used his tongue to trace up and down along the length of Ieyasu’s shaft, coating it in his saliva, before taking it into his mouth. Ieyasu groaned and fisted both hands in Mitsunari’s hair, his hips moving slightly to meet him.
As Mitsunari lavished Ieyasu’s cock with his tongue and lips he also took his ointment covered fingers and began to trace them around Ieyasu’s ass. He gently slipped first one and then the second inside Ieyasu, pausing if he tensed. Then finally a third finger joined the first two, brushing against his sweet spot, and Mitsunari began to stretch Ieyasu’s ass in earnest, while continuing his attentions to his cock.
“Mitsunari, I’m going to cum” Ieyasu’s warning was too late, as he burst and spilled his seed down Mitsunari’s throat. Mitsunari choked a bit, coming off of Ieyasu’s cock with a sputtering cough. “Oh no! Are you alright?” The alarm was clear in Ieyasu’s voice.
“I’m fine Ieyasu, you just surprised me. I’ve never done this before.” Mitsunari used his free hand to wipe his mouth. He leaned back down and kissed Ieyasu once again, sharing the man’s taste with him. “Are you ready for me?” He whispered the question against Ieyasu’s lips.
“I, I don’t know. I’ve never done this” he gestured at the two of them “before either.”
“Tell me if you need me to stop.”
Mitsunari to more of the ointment and generously applied it to his own cock. Ieyasu’s eyes were glued to the motions of Mitsunari’s hand as he stroked himself before placing the tip of his cock to Ieyasu’s ass. “I’ll go slow, just relax. Like you did earlier while I was tasting you.”
Ieyasu let out a long shuddering breath “I’ll try.”
Ever so slowly Mitsunari began to press his way inside. He massaged Ieyasu’s ass cheeks as he went, then moved on hand back to his hardening member. Gently stroking the other man back to full hardness, distracting him from Mitsunari’s slow, rocking, gentle invasion.
Once he was fully seated he paused, giving Ieyasu time to adjust, while continuing to to stroke his cock and toy with his nipples. Ieyasu groaned at the feeling of Mitsunari inside him. He felt full, and tight, and needy.
“Please, Mitsunari. It’s OK, you can move. I need you to move.” Ieyasu cupped Mitsunari’s cheek with so much tenderness it nearly made the other man cry.
“I love you Ieyasu.” And with those few simple words he began to move. Slowly at first, then picking up speed as his body began to chase it’s own release. He looked down at the beautiful man beneath him and gave thanks to every god he could think of for bringing them to this moment. This beautiful joining. Seeing each other of who they truly were, rather then the men they had to pretend to be.
“Mitsunari, I,” Ieyasu came again, his seed spilling across his abdomen. His release caused him to clamp down on Mitsunari, buried deep within him, causing the other man’s release as well.
“Ieyasu” Mitsunari called his name as he spilled his seed. Then leaned down to kiss him, collapsing on top of Ieyasu. “Give me a moment and I can get a hand towel as soon as I locate my clothes.”
“Take your time” Ieyasu stroked his hand up and down Mitsunari’s back as both men basked in the afterglow.
———–
After a time Mitsunari did get up and get his hand towel to clean them both up. In silence they both got redressed, and pulled out Masamune’s spare futon. Wordlessly they climbed into it together, holding each other tight, both knowing that this could be the only time, but hoping not.
“How did you learn to do all that?” Ieyasu finally asked as Mitsunari was drifting off to sleep.
“Hmm? Oh. There were a few unusual books mixed into my stack earlier this week. I’m not sure where they came from, or how they got there, but they were interesting enough that I didn’t immediately forget them.” He finished with a yawn.
“And someone left exactly the type of ointment we would need too. And made sure we were alone. And I’m fairly certain there was something in my tea.” Ieyasu mused “This has all the hallmarks of that snake.”
“I’ll have to thank him next time I see him.” Mitsunari mumbled, nearly asleep.
Ieyasu grunted “I’m not thanking that snake for anything. Ever.” Mitsunari did not respond having fallen asleep in Ieyasu’s arms.
Ieyasu stroked Mitsunari’s hair as he slept with his head pressed close to Ieyasu’s heart. This night had not gone as he had expected at all. But he couldn’t say he had any regrets right now. In the morning, when the tea wore off he hoped that he still felt that way. Because now that he had been honest, not only with Mitsunari, but with himself, he didn’t think he could lie about his feelings anymore.”I love you too, Mitsunari.”
———-
Mitsuhide walked past the room one more time. Everything was quiet this time. He shook his head and kept walking. A secret smile on his lips. All they’d needed was opportunity and a little honesty.
Sounds of Silence pt1
A/N: Modern AU with Mitsunari! This is loosely tied to Everything comes with a price, set over a year after it. Unlike before, there won’t be a set release schedule bc this fic isn’t completely finished yet. (I just need some validation and motivation oTL). A big thank you to @dear-mrs-otome for telling me this idea doesn’t completely suck <3
Also spoilers for Mitsunari’s route!
When he opened the door all he could do was stare.
Behind it stood a young woman. And not just any young woman but the one he had seen at the library countless times reading books to kids in sign language. The woman he secretly always hoped he’d see when he went to the library, whose smile he couldn’t stop thinking about.
***
At first, Mitsunari was annoyed by the voices coming somewhere out of sight. Libraries were supposed to be where you could study in peace, he had no idea what could cause such a ruckus.
The sound of laughter guided him to the children’s section of the library, but what he saw wasn’t what he expected.
A young woman was standing in front of a group of kids, a book open in front of her, animatedly reading the book in sign language. The kids were excited, laughing and giggling at the what he assumed were the exciting parts of the story.
Mitsunari felt enamoured, his annoyance long forgotten. He didn’t even realise he had stared until the story was over and all the kids were circling her, trying to talk to her all at once. Her smile brightened her face and she looked so natural and happy amongst the kids Mitsunari felt almost jealous.
Just then, she caught him staring. He felt his face heat up and he turned around sharply, stomping back to the table he had reserved for himself. He planted his face firmly on the book open in front of him.
Gods, that was embarrassing. Who goes around staring random women, when they were supposed to study. Ughh…
*****
He saw her walk towards the children's section from the corner of his eye and somehow his head turned to look after her. She stopped to wait for a boy in his teens to bounce all excited to her a book in his hands. They shared a greeting but Mitsunari couldn't follow the signs they spoke with. It didn't stop him from staring after them when they continued on their way towards the room where he had seen her read to the kids.
"Hey, are you even listening to me?"
Mitsunari turned to look at Sakon who looked at him a wide smile on his face.
"Or are you too busy staring after women to tutor me?"
"If you have time to lazy around and comment on everything I do, you must be ready for a quiz about all the important battles post-Honno-ji?"
"Ack! No! Don't you have any mercy, we just went through them 30 minutes ago?"
"Then what are you doing fooling around, you incorrigible dimwit. Get back to studying."
"I'm sure no one would have made me work this hard in the Sengoku period..." Sakon mumbled with a sigh.
"What was that?"
"I'm studying!"
When he was finally free of Sakon, he made his way to the children's section. But it was quiet, the children long gone. He was just about to turn around when he noticed a schedule on the wall. She would be back in an hour.
He could wait for that long.
Wait, maybe he shouldn't? Would that be weird? But he really did want to see her read again.
He didn't see her until he got up to get some coffee from a vending machine. She was sitting on the sofas next to it with the same boy as before, lost in an animated discussion he could only guess the topic off.
A part of him wanted to loiter so he could watch them talk, but the reasonable part of his brain forced him to return to his table.
As soon as he saw her followed by the silver-haired boy he stuffed his things to his bag and stood up to follow her. A group of excited kids were already waiting for her but he stayed behind until everyone had sat down. Then he stepped behind the parents by the door, his eyes following the movements of her hands taking in every sign.
Unlike before, this time when she was finished she kept glancing at the clock and hurried away as soon as possible, almost colliding with him. The silver-haired boy tried to stop her but after some hurried signs let her go. The look on the boys face looked a bit like a lost puppy and for some reason seeing her hurry away like that made Mitsunari feel a bit same.
He was brushing his teeth in the evening when he felt the buzz of his phone in his pocket.
[23:12:45] <<bookshy>> do u evr feel like ur stuck in ur life? [23:12:52] <<bookshy>> like u shld hve accomplishd so much mor in ur life tn u hve?
He stared at the screen for a while before he typed a reply. He didn't know who bookshy was, not really. They had been talking with each other for years, but always with nicknames, always through messages in the internet. It felt more comfortable that way somehow. Knowing there was always a person willing to listen to you without judging.
[23:13:05] <<ManjuDreamer>> Are you feeling like that right now? [23:13:07] <<bookshy>> ya [23:13:11] <<bookshy>> i dunno wht ill do w/ my life [23:13:19] <<bookshy>> i thght id do so mch more u know? [23:13:22] <<bookshy>> and now i jst feel liek im stuck nd see no way out [23:13:23] <<bookshy>> is ths my life now? [23:14:50] <<bookshy>> evry1 says i shld b happy w/ wht i hve [23:14:59] <<bookshy>> i hve so much im feeling ungrateful whn i feel like ths [24:15:46] <<ManjuDreamer>> You still have plenty of time to accomplish your dreams. It's not for others to decide when you can be happy. [23:16:02] <<bookshy>> guess ur rite
He heard a knock on the bathroom door and quickly finished brushing his teeth. When he opened the door Hideyoshi was standing behind it already in his pyjamas.
"I thought you'd never come out," he commented with a yawn and pushed past him to the bathroom.
"Good night," Mitsunari wished to the closed door before he retreated back to his room.
[23:18:30] <<bookshy>> how was ur day [23:18:49] <<bookshy>> i saw the prettiest person today like hot damn [23:19:13] <<ManjuDreamer>> I saw an interesting person today too, I wish I get to see them again. Other than that, it was mostly my student being an idiot, so nothing new. [23:19:53] <<ManjuDreamer>> I tried to do some research on a paper I'm writing, but it didn't progress much. I was just about to go to bed so I have energy to study more tomorrow. [23:19:56] <<bookshy>> srry to keep u up [23:19:57] <<bookshy>> night! [23:20:10] <<ManjuDreamer>> Night.
***
Mitsunari tossed the wig from his head frustrated, running his hand over his face. He glanced at the mirror of the bathroom, at the perfectly drawn eyeliner, the perfect shade of blush, the perfectly applied foundation. The perfect set of lies, painted on his face.
[13:33:14] <<ManjuDreamer>> I went to see my mother.
He hesitated a bit before he sent the message. It didn't take long for his phone to bling with a reply.
[13:34:29] <<bookshy>> how did it go? [13:34:48] <<ManjuDreamer>> As well as you would expect. [13:34:51] <<bookshy>> u wanna t alk about it?
His fingers ghosted over the screen of his phone before he put it down and looked at the mirror again. He reached for the makeup removal wipes from his bag and scrubbed furiously at his skin until the last remains of the makeup were gone.
[13:36:18] <<ManjuDreamer>> She's there but I feel like I'm losing her. [13:37:01] <<ManjuDreamer>> Every time I visit she seems further and further away. [13:37:15]<<ManjuDreamer>> Sometimes I wonder if the mother I used to know is there at all.
He started to type his next message, but stopped, gripping his phone tight in his hand.
[13:38:34] <<ManjuDreamer>> She's my mother, but it's so hard. [13:38:42] <<ManjuDreamer>> I don't know what to do.
He glanced at the mirror to make sure his eyes weren't red before he pulled his shirt over his head and replaced it with one from his bag.
[13:38:47] <<bookshy>> ur doing plenty already [13:38:49] <<bookshy>> u dont have to push urself so hard [13:38:50] <<bookshy>> im sure shed understand [13:38:59] <<ManjuDreamer>> But I'm all she has. [13:39:02] <<bookshy>> i know [13:39:06] <<bookshy>> but u hhave 2 thnk abt urself frst [13:39:15] <<bookshy>> if u feel its too much u can keep a brek. ur not prfect. u dnt have 2 b [13:39:50] <<bookshy>> im alws hr 2 tlk if u need me [13:40:20] <<ManjuDreamer>> Thank you. It means a lot.
He put his phone on the side of the sink and wiggled out of his skirt. He really should buy a new one next time he got paid for tutoring. The zipper didn't work properly anymore and the hem was starting to fray. He kicked the flats from his feet and looked at the kneehigh socks on his feet. They wouldn't be visible under his pants anyway so he let them be and took his pants and shoes from his bag before showing the skirt and shirt in their place. He considered showing the wig in after them but realised making the wig presentable after that would be too much of a hassle. So he gently combed the wig with his fingers to sort out biggest tangles and folded it neatly in a mesh bag. Flats into a plastic bag, then into the bag.
Like countless times before.
He got dressed and made one final glance at the mirror before he put the bag on his shoulder and stepped out of the bathroom.
"Oh, Mitsunari! Here to see your mother?" a nurse greeted him when he tried to slip past the nurses' office without being noticed. What a nosy bunch of quidnuncs insistent of mothering him.
“Yes. I was just leaving.” He replied with a stiff bow.
“Come and have some tea with us! How did the test go you told me last time?” Another nurse poked her head from the office. Mitsunari resisted the urge to roll his eyes and offered another bow.
“I believe it went well. I still haven’t received the results.”
Half an hour later he was still stuck at the nurses' office surrounded by what felt like a flock of mother hens, all determined to squeeze every bit of information out of him they could. He was just getting up from his chair when a voice behind him froze him on the spot.
"Did my darling Saki leave already? She was just here... Such a dutiful daughter, coming to see her mother so often..."
His knuckles turned white as he squeezed the edge of the table, his head down. He wanted to turn around. He wanted to see his mother as himself. He wanted... needed to see if she'd recognise him this time.
"We saw her leave a while ago, Mrs Ishida. She's such a nice girl."
He heard a nurse walk his mother away and the sighs of relief from the remaining nurses.
"Are you alright, Mitsunari? You know we'll listen to you if you need to talk. Or we can help you find someone-"
"I need to go now. Goodbye," Mitsunari interrupted the nurse who had put her hand on his shoulder to calm him. He got up in such haste his chair fell to the floor with a rattle, but he just offered a quick bow before he fled the office.
He didn't stop until he arrived at the bus stop. There he sank on the bench, burying his face on his hands.
He took the bus to the library, staring idly out of the window.
[14:36:09] <<bookshy>> did u make it home [14:36:35] <<ManjuDreamer>> No. I'm heading to the library. The nurses got me again. [14:36:37] <<bookshy>> lol how did u mnage 2 escpe [18:36:56] <<ManjuDreamer>> Mother came to the office. [14:37:09] <<bookshy>> oh no [14:37:10] <<bookshy>> im so sorry [14:37:21] <<bookshy>> how r u feeling rn? [14:38:29] <<ManjuDreamer>> I don't know. I'll try to find some reading to distract myself with.
At the library, he searched for materials for his upcoming paper but when he sat down and tried to read, the words didn't make any sense.
When he had read the same page several times over and still remembered absolutely nothing he was interrupted from his reading by a book shoved on top of the one he was just reading.
"Can't you see I'm-!" the sharp words died on his lips when he saw the same woman who had read to the kids in front of him. She tapped on the note on top of the book and he looked down to read it.
'This is the book I was reading. You seemed interested'
She handed him a second book, a note on top of it too.
'I'll read this next'
When she shifted her weight from one foot to another clearly uncomfortable, he realised he was staring. He offered her a curt nod as a thank you and she bowed at him a small relieved smile on her lips. She seemed to hesitate before she signed something but he had to shake his head.
There was a slight shift on her smile, on her posture, and she took a step back.
'I'm sorry' she mouthed and offered him a bow before she all but fled, leaving him to sit alone, feeling like an idiot.
[16:19:20] <<ManjuDreamer>> I think I just made a complete fool out of myself. [16:29:59] <<bookshy>> lol rly? [16:30:00] <<bookshy>> wht did u do? [16:30:02] <<bookshy>> i thght fool wasnt in ur dicktionary [16:31:18] <<ManjuDreamer>> And for that terrible joke, I tell you nothing. [16:31:47] <<bookshy>> noooo hw wll i evr know how embarassng u can be if u don tell me? [16:32:32] <<ManjuDreamer>> You'll survive.
***
"She's not here today."
Mitsunari was startled from his thoughts by a familiar voice behind him. He turned around, vaguely aware of the frown his irritation had brought on his face.
"Who?" he asked as if he didn't know exactly who was the 'she' in question.
"I got this for you, I'm sure it holds some useful information." Mr Otani handed him a flyer for the children's activities in the local libraries. Mitsunari stared at the flyer blankly before he looked at Mr Otani, letting his irritation show.
"And what am I supposed to do with this?"
Mr Otani just smiled and pushed a book towards him as well.
"I'm sure you'll find this useful as well. Come find me if you need anything else."
Before he had time to protest Mr Otani left him with a wave, a wide smile on his face. He considered running or yelling after him, but changed his mind when he looked at the book in his hand.
'Sign language for beginners'
He tucked the children's program leaflet securely at the back of his calendar and checked the book out.
Something about the sign language intrigued him. She looked so graceful when signing. And so comfortable and she seemed genuinely love reading to the children.
At first, he thought he’d look up a few signs. Just in case some of the children needed help in the library. Just so he could talk to her. No, he meant the kids. So he could talk to the kids. But few turned into a few hundred. A few thousand. He was so lost.
Diabolicus
~ All Hallows Eve, 1717 ~
Damn that angel!
The one called Mitsunari had spoiled yet another of Kennyo's potential contracts. As a Crossroad Demon, his job had been simple enough over the centuries; get summoned by a mortal, negotiate a deal by out talking whatever Crossroad Angel appeared, seal the deal, and deliver to the Keeper of Contracts. And Kennyo had been one of best negotiators…
Until he started showing up.
Kennyo knew his crossroad had been specifically assigned to Ishida in attempt to combat his own near perfect success rate of demon contracts. Ishida had been sighted at all of the top demon crossroads and they’ve each felt the decline in successful negotiations. With the seemingly sweet and sincere smile of his angelic calibre, who could blame the Earthlings for their second thoughts?
I can, damn it!
But… what is this? Not far to the east, Kennyo could still feel the angelic signature of his nemesis as if he'd never left. Ishida usually disappears without another thought after persuading the Earthlings from the contracts. What’s he still doing on this realm?
~*~
Never in all his years, would he have ever thought a converted nephilim be a match for a demon, or several demons…
Or so carelessly leave a sister on Earth unattended.
How… useful.
He almost couldn’t believe the stroke of luck while he gazed upon the sight. The angel Ishida had glamoured an appearance similar to the other festival goers who mingled about the All Hallows Eve celebration. Almost immediately, he'd been embraced by a woman of astounding resemblance. Same hair the color of moonlight that was partially tied back in dual braids and then left to flow freely with her movement. The lavender eyes of her brother fell dull and flat while hers seemed to glow and sparkle in the town fire’s light. The duo even shared that speck under the left eye.
A twin sister no doubt… Very useful indeed.
Ishida remained among the festivities only long enough to share a single dance with her before he returned to Heaven's realm. Kennyo couldn’t remember the last time he genuinely grinned but here he was, boasting a truly wicked visage as he pushed from the shadow covered wall while a plan snapped into place in his head. To break the angel, he'd have to break the sister and he'd do so through her dreams. To do that, however, he needed a hair of hers. But how to get the hair when demons couldn’t touch without permission?
His answer came with her smile as a new tune swelled from the musicians. Many of the villagers partnered off and danced lively to the beat given by the drum but she remained in her place against the wall, shoulders softly swaying to the music. A quick snap of the fingers had a mask glamoured in place so he'd easily be mistaken for one of the townsfolk.
“Do my eyes deceive me,” he started as he sidled up to the remaining free space of the wall at her side. “Or have the cretins truly left one as lovely as you to her own means?”
A grin blossomed across her features as she met his gaze through the mask. “Your eyes see true, traveler, but I am often left to my own means.”
“Well then, might I help alleviate that burden?” He questioned with a hand raised toward her and what he hoped was a pleasant smile, but he was so unused to portraying proper facial expressions he couldn’t be sure. He must have succeeded for she willingly accepted his hand and pulled him to the dance ring with a strength he would never thought possible from her.
The steps weren’t too complicated but, regardless of the routine, she may as well have been a professional dancer compared to the rest of the townsfolk around him. Her natural born elegance had her practically floating in his arms as if she truly were grace and holiness incarnate.
“Please forgive my boldness, but what are you?”
The question froze him mid-step, forcing disgruntled villagers to change course in hopes of avoiding a collision. “Pardon?”
Her eyes never left his and, for a moment, he wondered what she saw. Could she see the demon beneath the glamour? The plan in his mind? It was rumored Nephilim could contain a number of abilities even before converting into a full angel and only now he worried for his lack of knowledge on the being in front of him.
“You’re not mortal, I can feel that much,” her eyes and smile remained gentle and he put the worry behind him.
Ah, an Empath then. Kennyo mentally slapped himself. Of course she doesn’t have the Sight. If she did, she would have ran away shrieking by now at first glance of my true self.
“What do you think I am?”
Her lips turned down into a pout at that. “Well, I know what you're not. I’ve met Fae, Wraiths, and several other beings… but never one like you.”
“Never?” He grinned down at her in hopes of further distracting her as he continued with his original objective. He could feel her silver tresses teasing his knuckles on her back but they continued to evade his grasp.
She shook her head in response. “The few I met have been either all dark or all light but you have an odd mixture of both.”
Both? The darkness he understood, he was a demon after all. How much blood coated his hands? How many souls had he ferried into the darkness? Too much and too many for any mortal to fathom even if they had ten lifetimes to contemplate it.
How could there be any light in him?
They were moving again and she smiled up to his eyes as if she hadn’t just rendered him speechless. He was grateful his lungs had no need of air as she would have surely claimed his very breath for her own. What had this Lady Nephilim done to him?
Whatever magic she worked, it was dangerous. He'd lost count of the number of music changes before he realized he still hadn't achieved what he'd set out to do.
“Do you need a moment to rest?” he questioned once the music ended again. She simply nodded in response, causing one of her braids to tumble apart—another stroke of luck! He caught the falling curtain easily and smoothed it in place behind her ear; allowing his fingers to comb through the flowing silk as they traced the back of her arm until they finally found her own and he placed a kiss to her knuckles.
“Princess!” A young girl suddenly pounced between the pair and stole the Nephilim's hand from him. “The others are ready for stories.”
“O-okay,” startled, her lavender eyes shifted between he and the girl. “I promised the children a few scary stories once they were ready.”
Kennyo nodded with an amused grin. “Then, I leave you to your evening.”
“Thank you for the dances,” she called over her shoulder as the little girl dragged her away.
Oh, no, he thought as he swirled a strand of spun silver around his fingers. Thank you.
~*~
Kennyo glared upon the small hut she had the nerve to call a ‘shop’. The growing chill in the air apparently meant good business for her as a local healer. The sun had not even rose to midday before she had already tended to several visitors requesting treatments of different sorts. Rather it be sniffles, coughs, or burns from stoking a fire too high, the Lady Nephilim seemed to have a salve or broth for it all. She barely even stopped to eat as villager after villager came calling for aid, never turning anyone away and serving them as quickly as she could.
And she did it all with that insufferably bright smile.
In the weeks since All Hallows Eve, he had fashioned new nightmares each night and yet she still greeted the dawn with an impossible giddiness. What was it that kept her distress at bay? Was she immune to his powers? Was there some kind of angel magic at play?
It was time he investigate it himself.
No more games, Lady Nephilim.
Pumpkin Wars
Word Count: 1791
For: Kennyo fans.
Tumblr media
Notes: I had taken a more Western MC for this fic, rather than a strictly Japanese one.  Hope you all enjoy
[I hope I have enough.] You carried two pumpkins into the house, noting that you were going to have to go back more than once to get all the pumpkins in.  A pumpkin per two warlords sounded fun, right?  You found Sasuke in the kitchen, armed with a spatula and wearing an apron stating “I never dreamed I’d end up a super sexy physicist, but here I am, living the dream.”  You covered your mouth to keep from giggling at the scene.
Sasuke looked at you, his face bland as ever, “Masamune decided that I needed to wear a proper garment in the kitchen…” You listened hard to try and find some give in his voice, but it seems that Sasuke had flipped that particular switch off in him, his voice as neutral as his face was.  [Is Sasuke embarrassed?]  You decided to leave him alone about it, placing the two heavy pumpkins onto the table.  You took a moment to breathe, pushing your hair from your head, “Got a moment?  Could use some help.”
He adjusted his glasses, checking the oven before stating, “Yeah, I could help.”  A few more trips and you were looking at seven pumpkins on the table and counter.  Sasuke looked at you, asking, “Gee, what are we doing tonight?”  You resisted the urge to adopt a semi sinister voice as you explained, “The same thing we do every night.  Acclimation to the modern world.”  You dropped some carving kits and design stencils onto the table, turning to Sasuke, “You up for teaching pumpkin carving?”
Sasuke glanced at you, “This really isn’t a thing in Japan…” he started, you deflating at how you just wasted a good amount buying up pumpkins, “But it’s something I always wanted to try.”  You brightened, almost floundering in explaining how it all worked.  You even showed him some glo-sticks you had bought that could be placed in the pumpkins after you all carved them.  You told him how it was a tradition during October in America and that you had grown up with the tradition.
“A tradition from your country?”  Nobunaga’s voice, curious though still commanding, came from the living room.  He walked in, gazing at the mass of orange semi round vegetables taking over the kitchen.  He smiled, arching a brow, “Show me.”
You explained you needed everyone, that it was a group project today.  Soon, the small kitchen was filled with many many men.  [I hadn’t realized just how small this kitchen was…]  Sasuke had moved some into the living room, allowing for some breathing room.  You announced the project was two per pumpkin, leaving the warlords to figure out who had who.
“What about you, beautiful lady,” Shingen asked, setting his grey eyes on you, “will you be pairing up with someone?”  You shook your head, citing that you were in charge of helping all the groups.
Soon, everyone was set up; Yukimura had stuck with Shingen, Hideyoshi insisted that Nobunaga stay with him as there were sharp objects involved (he had to protect him, after all),
Sasuke opted to pair with Kenshin saying that he’d rather keep Kenshin in line than worry about who he’d be paired with (Kenshin eyed the cutting implements with curiosity raising Sasuke’s worries), Masamune shrugged and picked Motonari, much to Ieyasu’s protests, Kennyo sighed and called Ranmaru, who cheered at being picked by his adoptive father, Yoshimoto’s eye twitched as he picked Mitsuhide, citing that Mitsuhide was probably the most sane of those left, leaving Ieyasu to look at Mitsunari and let him know that *he* was in charge of the sharp objects, “we don’t need you bleeding all over the house….”
You clapped your hands, eagerly, showing the warlords the stencils, a cat arched in anger in the light of the moon, a witch on her broom, a mouse, a ghost, Frankenstein’s monster, and various other designs they can use, letting them know they could also go with the traditional Jack o’latern smile.
Masamune and Motonari eyed each other, both smiling as if reaching an unspoken accord.  [Looks like they’re going with the Jack smile..].  You held up the tools, noting that you had to get all the seeds out of the pumpkin or it wouldn’t work, etc.  Masamune frowned a bit, “Wouldn’t that be a waste of food?  Not sure I like that, lass.”  You told him you’d be making something of the seeds and pumpkin guts, Masamune’s blue eye staring at you before nodding for you to continue.  You stood near Nobunaga’s pumpkin, showing about how they needed to cut the top off in order to scoop out the guts
“Who wants to bet we can empty the guts faster than you can?”  Masamune challenged, Kenshin’s green and blue jewels eyeing him in challenge.  “You challenge the God of War?  I accept.  Sasuke and I will beat you and your pirate.”  And thus, the pumpkin carving began.
“Nobunaga-sama!”  Hideyoshi cried for the third time in ten minutes, “Don’t cute so close to your fingers!  You’ll cut yourself.”  You couldn’t see his face, but you could almost see the anime tick of irritance appear on Nobunaga’s head.  “Hideyoshi…” Nobunaga said, his voice calmer than you were expecting, “I know how to use a blade.”  Hideyoshi apologizing profusely.
“Please, you go ahead.  I’d rather keep my gloves clean…” Motonari said, Masamune digging into the insides of their pumpkin.  You were suspicious that maybe Motonari was letting Masamune do all the work, but the One-Eyed Dragon seemed to have no complaints, so you said nothing.
“This…” a deeply focused voice complained at you, “is….really...detailed...Shingen-sama don’t move the stencil!”  It seemed that Yukimura and Shingen had picked the witch and were trying to mark her out onto the pumpkin.
“Is it really necessary to take out the insides…” Yoshimoto asked, hiding his face behind his fan, “I don’t mind designing them, but to remove the insides seems...messy.”
“I don’t mind getting dirty,” Mitsuhide responded, “after all, that’s my job for Nobunaga-sama.”  A statement that earned him a look from Hideyoshi.
“Oooh, Kennyo..” Ranmaru was saying, holding the pumpkin as Kennyo painstakingly put in his design onto the pumpkin, “ours is going to be the best!”  Kennyo didn’t respond, all his focus set onto his pumpkin.
“Ieyasu-sama,” Mitsunari chimed, “this design is coming out nice!”  Ieyasu rolled his eyes, giving Mitsunari a baleful look, “It’s a bunch of dots, idiot.  It’s nothing yet.”  Mitsunari barely even missed a beat, “But they’re still nice.  I can see our pumpkin will be the best.”  Ieyasu muttering something that no one could hear and going back to working on the pumpkin.
Masamune held up a handful of pumpkin and seeds, giving the mess an amused look, “Kinda stringy, ain’t it?”  He surveyed the assembled group, mischief filling his eye.  Motonari caught the look, his own eyes filling with a promise of misconduct, “eh, Dragon…” he gestured Masamune close, both of them whispering together a moment.  You could feel the idea haunching up your back, but you were still too slow.
“Hey, God of War!” Motonari called, Kenshin and Sasuke glancing up from their work.  Orange flew through the air, landing onto Kenshin’s shirt.  He stared down a moment, contemplating the orange staining his top.  He took a handful of pumpkin, “This means war..” he said quietly, hurling pumpkin towards the pair of M’s.  Masamune ducked, leaving the orange mess to smack one Nobunaga in the back of the head.  He turned, glaring at the group, “You are brave to challenge me.”  He grabbed his own handful, throwing it across the room.
Soon, chaos had broken out, each pair throwing pumpkin guts at each other.  All save Kennyo, who remained hyper focused on his pumpkin design, bits of seed and pumpkin inside decorating his robe, which he had insisted on wearing.
Even Sasuke had gotten in on the action, taking cover behind the table, taking turns at throwing as moments opened themselves.  You had taken the moment to hide yourself, not wanting to be covered in pumpkin.  You were smiling, though yelling at the men who were messing up your tidy house.  You could hear Hideyoshi echoing your chiding, despite him throwing pumpkin himself.  Ieyasu was covered in the stuff, hurling chunks at Mitsunari, who was laughing and hurling bits back at the blond fink.
Eventually, the great pumpkin war had died down and carving resumed.  Each pair finished, showing off their pieces.  Various smiles, witches, cats, and others looked at you, you giving each pair praise at how gifted they were.  You finally came to Ranmaru and Kennyo, Ranmaru smiling and announcing theirs was the best.  Kennyo turned his pumpkin, a perfect likeness of the Buddha staring at you from his seated position.  Placing a glo-stick inside, Buddha casted a shadow against the light, showing off how his eyes and smile had a small glow, but not entirely cut out.
“Wow, amazing…” You breathed, wrapping your arms around Kennyo, the man himself giving a sharp breath of surprise.  You kissed his cheek, telling him it was beautiful.  He eyed you, a light blush alighted his cheeks, but said nothing.  You picked his pumpkin up, telling everyone it was now time to put them outside with their glo-sticks.  You explained it was meant to decorate the outside of your home, telling them the history of the Jack o’latern and how they were carved into turnips in Ireland, Ranmaru making a face at that, and the legend of the spirit caught inside.
You set them outside, setting Kennyo’s high on a post siding your entry gate.  “There, now we’re really doing the fall thing.”  You hopped down, backing away, seeking Kennyo’s chest for warmth.  He grunted, but put his arm around you as you all looked at your creations.
“So…” Sasuke interrupted, adjusting his glasses, “I theorize that we should be seeking out cleaning supplies.”  He ushered the warlords and page back into the house, leaving you and Kennyo alone.
For a moment, things were awkward, you looked up at the pumpkins, “It really is beautiful…” you said, turning to face Kennyo, wrapping your arms around the big man’s waist, holding his back.  He stared down at you, his face still a touch pink at the cheeks, “I am glad you are so touched.  I hope he will help guide those who pass here.”  You smiled up at the large man, your heart melting at the compassion of your gentle giant.  “Kennyo…” you drew his eyes back to you, pushing up onto your toes and planting a soft kiss on his still lips.  He tensed a moment, then pulled you in close, bending to meet your lips more firmly with his own.  A perfect Autumn kiss.
