1970 Chrysler 300 Hurst
One of the great unknowns about the 1970 Chrysler 300 Hurst is exactly how many cars were built. Estimates put the total as low as 485, and as high as 502 cars. Regardless of what the figure actually is, the car itself is a pretty special piece of machinery.
The 300 Hurst is a giant of a car at 19′ in length. All of the Hursts rolled off the production line finished in Spinnaker White. The cars were then shipped to the Hurst factory in Warminster, Pennsylvania, where a substantial transformation was performed. The first change to be made was the removal of the standard Chrysler steel hood skin, which was replaced with a fiberglass unit. This featured a decorative hood scoop and the obligatory set of recessed hood locks. The deck lid was also removed, and once again, a fiberglass replacement, complete with a spoiler integrated with the rear quarter panels, was also installed. The White paintwork was complimented by the addition of Satin Tan highlights and contrasting pinstripes, and the wheels were adorned with the same Satin Tan color in the centers. This Hurst is a clean car, with a small area of rust visible in the lower section of the driver’s side front fender, and surface corrosion present on the car’s underside. The Spinnaker White paint appears to be in good condition, but there has been some deterioration of the Satin Tan paint on both the hood and the deck lid. The exterior trim and chrome all look good, while the tinted glass is close to perfect.
The 300 Hurst was a premium car at a premium price, so naturally, it required a premium interior. In this case, seat upholstery was available in a single type and color. Continuing the exterior theme, the color is Saddle Tan, and the material is leather. The plush front seats are not standard 300 items but have been pilfered from the Imperial parts bin. While the original intention was for a Hurst shifter to be part of the interior features, this is something that never eventuated. The interior of this Hurst is close to perfect, with a single discolored spot on the dash pad being the most obvious fault. The rest of it presents in virtually as-new condition, and as befits a luxury car, it is loaded with luxury touches. These include air conditioning, power windows, six-way power seats, cruise control, a remote trunk release, and I think that there also might be an 8-track player hanging under the dash.
The 300 Hurst was the biggest of the muscle cars, and as such, it needed a big motor to get it moving. In this case, it is the TNT 440 engine, pumping out 375hp. The Hurst also features a 727 TorqueFlite transmission, a 3.23 rear end, power steering, power brakes, heavy-duty rear springs and front torsion bars, and sway bars. The exhaust was a full dual system, ending in quad tips. This Hurst hasn’t seen a lot of recent use, and documentation confirms that between 1986 and 2019, it managed to accumulate a grand total of 20 miles! Since being removed from its climate-controlled storage, it has undergone a meticulous mechanical check and recommissioning, and it is now said to run and drive perfectly. The owner does suggest that while the tires look good, they are pretty olds, and replacing them might be a good idea. He also says that the Hurst may need mufflers fairly soon. The car does come with a fair collection of documentation, including the original Build Sheet and Window Sticker, a pristine Certi-Card, Owner’s Manual, as well as dealer paperwork and other assorted items.
While there has always been some question surrounding the build totals for the 1970 300 Hurst, one thing is certain, and that is that there are less than 300 cars in existence today. Pristine examples can fetch sums in excess of $30,000, and even a rough example in need of restoration can still sell for anywhere around $13,000. This one doesn’t need a major restoration, but it does require some cosmetic work. I’m not sure where bidding is eventually going to go with this one, but I would suspect that it will be somewhere around the low to mid $20,000 mark. Even at that price, it probably wouldn’t be a bad buy.

CSC FAM I would like to Introduce you to another CSC FAM in UTAH His name is Mark @63Z06 on Instagram. Mark has a Hobby of Building Beautiful Classic Corvette’s in his home garage by himself and suffers from “OCD” or #ObessiveCorvetteDisorder‼️
Comments from a recent post on Marks Instagram 👉🏼 @63Z06 👈🏼
Leaks and plugged drains have left the interior carpet moldy and unsalvageable. A homesteading rodent made his home there and added special touches like rearranging the carpet padding and chewing through multiple wires to key components, as well as freely relieving himself throughout the interior. Plastic oil pressure gauge lines become brittle and break, necessitating removal of gauges and other interior components. And that’s just the interior! We won’t even talk about the brakes and the cooling and vacuum systems! Neglect is truly an ugly word, my friends. Ah, the joys of car restoration!
So now the oil pressure line is repaired along with the various munched-upon wires, the fiberglass was washed and disinfected within an inch of its life, new carpet is installed and the skull of the one-time unwelcome non-paying tenant has been removed and is now on display in my shop to strike fear into the hearts others of his kind.
And they said this would be a simple project. I hate to admit it, but I said it, too. Finally, after some long hours (and being a much bigger project than anticipated), it’s back together and done.
As Mark’s Wife said they are never done
So true. So very true.
CSC FAM I enjoy following Mark @63Z06 and watching the beautiful Corvette’s he builds for his family, Wife and 3 Daughter’s all have Beautiful Classic Corvette’s.
One of his recent builds was a numbers matching, 1963 Corvette Split-Window Coupe Z06‼️ I believe Mark keep that one for himself‼️

2023 Cost vs. Value Report: 5 Best and 5 Worst Home Renovations ROI in the Los Angeles area
When it comes to home renovations, it's important to consider not only the immediate benefits of the project but also its potential resale value. The annual Cost vs. Value Report by Remodeling magazine analyzes the average cost of various renovation projects and estimates their potential return on investment (ROI) in the current housing market. In the Pacific region of the US, Los Angeles is a particularly popular area for home renovations. Let's take a look at the top 5 home renovation projects with the highest recuperation rate and the bottom 5 with the lowest recoup rate in the Los Angeles, CA area according to the 2023 Report. Some of these projects may be confirmation of what you know and some may shock you. If you have questions about a Huntington Beach home renovation call me.
Top 5 renovation projects with the highest recoup rate:
Manufactured stone veneer: The project involves replacing the existing vinyl siding on the bottom third of the street-facing facade of the house with manufactured stone veneer. The average cost of the project is $12,989, and it has an estimated ROI of 109.8%.
garage door replacement: This project involves replacing an existing garage door with a new four-section garage door with heavy-duty galvanized steel tracks. The average cost of the project is $3,776, and it has an estimated ROI of 107.3%.
Entry door replacement (steel): this project involves replacing an existing entry door with a new 20-gauge steel entry door with clear dual-pane half-glass panel, jambs, and an aluminum threshold with composite stop. The average cost of the project is $1,981, and it has an estimated ROI of 94.5%.
Minor kitchen remodel: This project involves replacing cabinet fronts with shaker-style wood panels and drawer fronts, installing new hardware, replacing laminate countertops with new ones, and installing a new stainless steel sink and faucet. The average cost of the project is $27,772, and it has an estimated ROI of 88.4%.
Siding replacement (vinyl): this project involves replacing the existing siding with new foam-backed insulated vinyl siding, including all trim. The average cost of the project is $18,929, and it has an estimated ROI of 84.9%.
Bottom 5 renovation projects with the lowest recoup rate:
Backup Power Generator: This project involves installing a new standby generator to provide backup power during outages. The average cost of the project is $17,500, and it has an estimated ROI of 41.6%.
Home office remodel: This project involves converting a spare bedroom into a home office with custom cabinets, a laminate desktop, and recessed overhead lighting. The average cost of the project is $38,582, and it has an estimated ROI of 43.5%.
Sunroom Addition: This project involves adding a 200-square-foot sunroom with a new foundation and footings, vinyl windows with insulated glass, and a sliding door. The average cost of the project is $113,238, and it has an estimated ROI of 47.4%.
Major kitchen remodel: This project involves gutting the kitchen and replacing everything, including cabinets, countertops, appliances, flooring, and lighting. The average cost of the project is $81,700, and it has an estimated ROI of 47.5%.
Bathroom Addition: This project involves adding a new 6-by-8-foot bathroom to an existing space, including a fiberglass shower with a glass enclosure, a toilet, and a vanity with a solid-surface countertop. The average cost of the project is $49,782, and it has an estimated ROI of 52.4%.
When planning a home renovation project in the Los Angeles, CA area, it's important to consider not only your personal preferences and needs but also the potential resale value of the project. As seen in the 2023 Cost vs. Value Report, certain projects tend to recoup a higher percentage of their cost than others. This doesn't mean that you should always choose the highest recoup rate projects, as personal preference, location, and other factors may also come into play.
However, it's always a good idea to weigh the potential return on investment against the upfront cost when deciding on a renovation project. It's also important to keep in mind that the cost and ROI estimates provided in the report are just averages, and your actual cost and ROI may vary depending on factors such as the size of your home, the quality of materials used, and the contractor you hire.
Therefore, it's always a good idea to get multiple quotes from licensed and experienced contractors and to do your research before making a decision. With careful planning and execution, a home renovation project can not only improve your living space but also add value to your home.
Also don't forget to call me for what your Huntington Beach home value is to see if it makes sense to sell now with these upgrades and remodels.

The Insulation at Holiday House is In!
I can’t tell you how good it feels to look around the rooms at Holiday House and not just see wooden boards everywhere. Yes, the insulation is just on the exterior walls and the interior walls are still just framed 2X4’s, but most everywhere you look has spray foam insulation in. It’s a glorious sight, dear reader!
PJ decided to go with spray foam insulation for the first time in a house we’ve renovated. He’s always wanted to use it and Holiday House seemed like the perfect opportunity. And let me tell you: it really works. It was around 85 degrees outside yesterday, but inside Holiday House it felt so cool. Normally when we’re there, the house is scorching and we go outside to cool down, but with the spray foam insulation, the inside is now the place to be when you get hot. Sounds like great news for our energy bill.
The drywall was also delivered a few days ago and it should be going in this week! We cleaned the entire house yesterday to get it ready to hang. It’s so cool to see this project at this stage, all cleaned and thisclose to being finished. After drywall, it’s time for floors to be installed, and then it’s just the finishing touches!!
We normally go with fiberglass insulation, but chose spray foam instead. And while spray foam is a lot more expensive than fiberglass, here are some of the pros of it:
Significantly decreases utility bills (around 50%!)
Top of the line airtight seal (24 times less permeable to airflow than other kinds of insulation)
Shields against molds, mildew, and contaminants (even if it gets damp, mildew, mold, and bacteria will not be able to grow from this product because it does not provide a food source)
Will not lose R-value over time (R-value measures how well building insulation can prevent the flow of heat into and out of the home)
Better for the environment (a greener option since it cuts down energy use and helps avoid moisture damage)
Also, how cute is Anna’s room below with the tall windows and the vaulted ceilings on the wall where her bed will go? I’m picturing a fun wallpaper on the ceiling and twinkle lights strung above her daybed.
Overall we’re really happy with the results so far, and the house isn’t even finished. I can only imagine how beneficial this will be for our little farmhouse in the years to come!

Insulation 101: Benefits and Types of Insulation
Commercial building owners invest in quality insulation materials because of their numerous benefits. Insulation helps enhance the overall performance of any commercial building, decreases harmful greenhouse gas emissions, and helps keep your energy bills from increasing.
In addition, adding insulation to your establishment can also reduce the number of noises coming in and out. This is beneficial mainly for establishments that require better acoustics or sound barriers. Let's learn more about the different types of insulation material available now.
Batt Insulation
Professionals use batt insulation efficiently, one of the most affordable options available today. It comes with two options; with or without facing. Professionals must place this per specifications to resist water vapor transfer. Most insulation today contains recycled materials such as sand. Fiberglass also includes sand which is an environmentally friendly content source.
Batt insulation can either be fiberglass, cotton, or stone wool blankets. Fiberglass is the most common type out of the rest. It is the perfect insulation for attics, walls, ceilings, crawl spaces, and basements.
Blown-in Insulation
When it comes to blown-in insulation, proper installation is a must. Professionals should utilize special equipment and safety measures to ensure long-term function. In addition to being primarily recycled, cellulose blown-in insulation also contains fire-retardant properties. It also resists insects, rodents, and mold and impressively creates a good sound barrier. Once the professionals finish the application, there are also available products with insulation that you can incorporate to enhance your commercial building, such as an insulated roof hatch.
Spray Foam Insulation
If you prefer an insulation material that forms an air barrier, then spray foam insulation should be the option on your list. This material can effectively cover your walls, floors, and ceiling cavities against air movement. This includes spaces around electrical outlets, light fixtures, and walls that meet windows and doors.
Professionals use spray foams in open cavities, like in new construction, crawl spaces, rim joists, and attics. You can also use this on remodeled homes. You can apply the spray foam if the cavities are unrestricted and accessible. Here are the two varieties of spray-foam insulation;
Closed-cell SPF- is a type of spray foam insulation that adds structural strength and is a rigid, vapor-resistant foam that doesn't require replacement in case of a flood.
Open-cell SPF- spray foam insulation that offers identical insulation advantages but does not act as a water barrier or vapor retarder.
Air Sealing
Controlling the air leakage of an establishment is critical to effective insulation. You can do a great job protecting an establishment, but if air can seep through gaps or cracks in the building envelope, you lose your valuable heated or conditioned air.
Concrete Block Insulation
A concrete block's center contains insulating materials such as polystyrene, polyisocyanurate or polyiso, and polyurethane. The hollow centers of concrete blocks can be filled by pouring and injecting loose foam beads or liquid foam. Some professionals create concrete blocks that support rigid foam inserts.
Reflective System
Unlike most typical insulation, which resists convective and conductive heat flow, reflective insulation works by reflecting radiant heat away from your commercial building. These insulation types are best for hot and humid climates, primarily if you have cooling air ducts in the attic. According to research, radiant barriers can lower cooling costs by up to 5% to 10% when utilized in a warm, sunny temperature.
There are still other insulation options available. Ensure to collaborate well with your architect, engineer, or contractor to choose the best insulation option based on your commercial building's needs and your project budget.
Did you find our blogs interesting? You can find more exciting blogs at Best Access Doors! We also offer various top-quality access doors and panels for any commercial building application. You can dial (800) 483-0823 to learn more about our products.

The Cost of Window Replacement in Birmingham: What to Expect
Replacing windows in your home is an investment that can significantly improve energy efficiency, enhance curb appeal, and increase overall comfort. However, the cost of window replacement can vary depending on several factors, including the type of windows, the number of windows being replaced, the complexity of the installation, and the company you choose. In this article, we’ll explore what you can expect in terms of window replacement costs in Birmingham, AL, and break down the key factors that influence pricing.
1. Average Cost of Window Replacement in Birmingham
On average, homeowners in Birmingham can expect to pay anywhere from $300 to $1,200 per window for a full window replacement. This price range includes both the cost of the window itself and the installation. The total cost of replacing all the windows in a home can therefore range significantly depending on the number of windows being replaced and the types of windows selected.
For a typical three-bedroom home with 10 windows, the total cost of window replacement could range between $3,000 and $12,000, or more. This is a rough estimate, and the final price will depend on the specifics of your project.
It’s important to note that while the cost may seem high initially, energy-efficient windows can pay for themselves over time through lower energy bills. In addition, new windows can improve your home's value, making it a worthwhile long-term investment.
2. Factors That Affect the Cost of Window Replacement
Several factors will influence the cost of window replacement in Birmingham. Understanding these factors can help you estimate the price of your project and ensure you make an informed decision.
Type of Window
The type of window you choose is one of the biggest cost factors. There are several types of windows, each with its own price range. Some common options include:
Single-Hung Windows: These windows are typically the most affordable option. They feature one movable sash, usually the lower one, and are a standard choice for many homeowners.
Double-Hung Windows: Double-hung windows feature two movable sashes, making them slightly more expensive than single-hung windows. They offer more ventilation and are easier to clean.
Casement Windows: Casement windows are hinged on one side and open outward, offering better ventilation. They tend to be more expensive than single- or double-hung windows due to their design and functionality.
Slider Windows: Slider windows open horizontally and are easy to operate. They can be an affordable option depending on the size and style.
Bay and Bow Windows: These windows are more complex in design and installation and are typically the most expensive. They protrude from the home’s exterior and offer a wider view of the outdoors.
Custom Windows: If you need custom-sized windows or have a unique design in mind, these windows will cost more than standard sizes. Custom windows typically require more time and effort to manufacture and install.
Material of the Window
The material used for the window frame plays a significant role in the overall cost. Common materials include:
Vinyl: Vinyl windows are often the most affordable and energy-efficient option. They are low-maintenance and provide good insulation, making them popular for window replacements in Birmingham. Prices for vinyl windows typically range from $300 to $800 per window.
Wood: Wood windows have a more traditional aesthetic and can be expensive due to their high maintenance requirements. Wood frames often need to be stained or painted regularly to prevent damage from the elements. Wood window prices range from $600 to $1,200 per window.
Fiberglass: Fiberglass windows are highly durable and energy-efficient, though they tend to be more expensive than vinyl windows. Prices typically range from $500 to $1,200 per window.
Aluminum: Aluminum windows are durable and lightweight but may not offer as much insulation as other materials. They are typically more affordable than wood and fiberglass but can range from $400 to $900 per window.
Energy Efficiency Features
Energy-efficient windows often cost more upfront but can save you money in the long run through reduced energy bills. Features like Low-E coatings, double or triple glazing, and gas fills (argon or krypton) can increase the price of your windows. These windows are designed to improve insulation and block UV rays, making your home more comfortable while reducing heating and cooling costs.
Expect to pay an additional $100 to $500 per window for energy-efficient features, depending on the level of technology and materials involved.
Window Size
The size of the window also affects the overall cost. Larger windows require more material, labor, and time to install, which naturally raises the price. Standard-sized windows are generally less expensive than custom-sized or oversized windows. For example, replacing a large bay window or a set of French doors can cost significantly more than replacing a single-hung window in a standard frame.
Installation Complexity
The complexity of the installation is another important cost factor. If the installation is straightforward—like replacing a window of similar size and type—the cost will be on the lower end of the spectrum. However, if the installation is more complex due to factors like the need for structural changes, replacing old frames, or addressing water damage, the labor cost will rise.
For example, replacing windows in a multi-story home, especially those located in hard-to-reach places, may increase installation costs. On the other hand, simple ground-level window replacements may cost less.
Labor Costs
Labor costs can vary depending on the window replacement company you hire. On average, labor can account for 30-50% of the total cost of the project. Labor rates for window replacement in Birmingham typically range from $40 to $100 per hour, depending on the company and the complexity of the job. Most window replacement projects take between four to eight hours to complete, depending on the number of windows and any complications with the installation.
It’s essential to get a detailed estimate that includes both labor and materials to avoid unexpected costs later in the project.
3. Additional Costs to Consider
While the window itself and installation are the main costs associated with a window replacement in Birmingham, there may be additional expenses to keep in mind:
Old Window Removal: Most companies charge a fee for removing and disposing of your old windows. This can range from $50 to $200 depending on the number and type of windows being replaced.
Repairs: If your window frames, sills, or surrounding structure need repairs, this will add to the cost. For example, rotted wood or damaged caulking may require repair before new windows can be installed.
Permits: In some cases, Birmingham homeowners may need to obtain a permit for window replacement, especially if structural changes are involved. This can cost anywhere from $50 to $300, depending on the scope of the work.
Custom Features: If you choose custom glass, tinted windows, or specialized features (such as security windows or soundproofing), expect additional costs.
4. How to Save Money on Window Replacement
There are several ways to reduce the cost of window replacement while still getting the high-quality windows you need:
Compare Multiple Quotes: Obtain quotes from several reputable window replacement companies in Birmingham to ensure you're getting a competitive price.
Look for Discounts or Promotions: Some companies offer seasonal discounts, sales, or financing options that can help reduce the upfront cost of window replacement.
Consider Smaller Upgrades: If budget is a concern, consider replacing just a few windows at a time or opting for less expensive materials (e.g., vinyl instead of wood).
Take Advantage of Tax Credits: Depending on the type of windows you install, you may qualify for tax credits or rebates for choosing energy-efficient windows.
Conclusion
The cost of window replacement in Birmingham can vary depending on factors like the type of window, materials, energy efficiency features, and installation complexity. On average, homeowners can expect to pay between $300 and $1,200 per window, with a typical home replacement project costing between $3,000 and $12,000.
While the initial investment can seem high, new windows can provide significant long-term savings in energy bills, improve your home's comfort, and increase its overall value. By understanding the factors that affect cost and getting multiple quotes from reliable companies, you can ensure that you are making a smart investment that will benefit your home for years to come.

Why Every Home Needs a Mosquito Net for Doors: Benefits and Installation Tips
In today's fast-paced world, ensuring a safe and comfortable home environment is a top priority. One essential yet often overlooked addition to every home is a mosquito net for doors. These simple yet highly effective solutions not only protect against pests but also enhance your living experience. Here's why every home needs a mosquito net for doors and how you can install one seamlessly.
Benefits of Mosquito Nets for Doors
Protection from Mosquito-Borne Diseases Mosquitoes are carriers of dangerous diseases such as dengue, malaria, and chikungunya. A mosquito net acts as a barrier, keeping these pests out and reducing the risk of infections, especially in regions prone to outbreaks.
Improved Indoor Air Quality Mosquito nets allow for proper ventilation while preventing insects and dust from entering your home. Unlike closed doors or windows, they maintain airflow, ensuring a fresh and healthy indoor environment.
Eco-Friendly Pest Control Unlike chemical repellents or sprays, mosquito nets are a natural solution. They help reduce your reliance on toxic chemicals, making them safer for families, especially children and pets.
Cost-Effective and Durable Investing in a mosquito net is a one-time expense that offers long-term protection. High-quality nets are durable and can last for years with minimal maintenance, making them a smart financial choice.
Enhanced Comfort and Sleep Quality With no buzzing insects to disturb your peace, mosquito nets help create a serene and comfortable living space. This is particularly beneficial during the summer months when mosquitoes are most active.
Types of Mosquito Nets for Doors
Choosing the right mosquito net depends on your door type and aesthetic preferences. Here are some popular options:
Magnetic Mosquito Nets: Easy to install and use, these nets snap shut automatically, making them ideal for frequently used doors.
Sliding Mosquito Nets: Perfect for large doors, these nets move smoothly on tracks and blend seamlessly with modern interiors.
Roll-Up Mosquito Nets: A space-saving option, these nets can be rolled up when not in use, offering flexibility.
Fixed Frame Mosquito Nets: These are permanent fixtures that provide robust and reliable protection.
Installation Tips for Mosquito Nets
Installing a mosquito net is a straightforward process that you can handle on your own or with professional help. Here’s how to do it:
Measure Your Door Accurate measurements are crucial for a perfect fit. Measure the height and width of the door frame before purchasing your net.
Choose the Right Material Opt for durable materials such as polyester or fiberglass. These are resistant to wear and tear and provide long-lasting protection.
Prepare the Door Frame Clean the door frame to ensure the adhesive or screws hold securely. Remove any dust or debris for better grip.
Follow Installation Instructions
For Magnetic Nets: Stick the adhesive strips around the frame and attach the net.
For Sliding or Roll-Up Nets: Follow the manufacturer’s guide to set up tracks or rollers.
For Fixed Frame Nets: Use screws or clamps to secure the frame in place.
Test for Effectiveness Once installed, check for gaps or loose ends to ensure complete coverage. Adjust as needed for optimal performance.
Maintenance Tips
To extend the lifespan of your mosquito net:
Clean it regularly with a damp cloth to remove dirt and dust.
Check for any tears or damage and repair them promptly.
Avoid using sharp objects near the net to prevent accidental punctures.
Conclusion
A mosquito net for doors is a practical investment that offers protection, comfort, and peace of mind. Whether you’re looking to safeguard your family from health risks or create a pest-free home, these nets are an indispensable addition. With easy installation and minimal maintenance, there’s no reason to delay upgrading your home.
