"La Tortura" is a song by Colombian singer Shakira, featuring Spanish singer Alejandro Sanz, from Shakira's sixth studio album, Fijación Oral, Vol. 1 (2005). The song was written and produced by Shakira, with additional writing and production from longtime collaborators Luis Fernando Ochoa and Lester Mendez, respectively. It was released on 11 April 2005 as the lead single from the album. "La Tortura" is a pop, reggaeton, and dancehall track, which lyrically tells the story of a woman who has been emotionally "tortured" because her boyfriend cheated and eventually left her for another, and has now returned begging forgiveness.

It was well received commercially, reaching number one in several countries worldwide, including Hungary, Spain and Venezuela. "La Tortura" was recognized as Pop Song of the Year at the 18th Lo Nuestro Awards. At the 2005 Premios Juventud, Shakira and Sanz won the award for Dynamic Duet while the song was nominated for Catchiest Tune. It was recognized as Song of the Year and Latin Ringtone of the Year at the 2007 BMI Latin Awards. "La Tortura" won Latin Song of the Year at the 2005 Billboard Music Awards and Best Latin Dance Track at the 2006 International Dance Music Awards. The music video won the prize for Video of the Year at the 2005 MTV Video Music Awards Latinoamerica. It also received three nominations at the 2005 MTV Video Music Awards, in the categories Best Female Video, Best Dance Video and Viewer's Choice Award, becoming the first time a Spanish music video was up for a nomination at the awards. The next year, "La Tortura" was nominated for Best Short Form Music Video at the 7th Annual Latin Grammy Awards.

BENIDORM FEST 2024 - PARTICIPANTS

Yesterday (november 11) all 16 participants of Benidorm Fest 2024 were revealed - the songs will be revealed on december 14th. I wanted to make this post talking about all the possible representants of Spain in ESC 2024, as a little intro to them and how their songs might sound like. As always, everything will be below the cut :)

ALMÁCOR

Arturo Almarcha Corella, better known as Almácor (Villena, 26) is an urban artist that started his career in 2019. He has released an EP since then, and has collabed with artists like Henry Mendez or Chimbabala. This year he was nominated in the Best New Urban Artist in the Los 40 Music Awards. His most popular song is DE TO', and his last released song is Pop Tech.

ANGY FERNÁNDEZ

Angy Fernández (Palma, 33) is a LEGEND and our very own emo princess, she's an icon. Her leap to fame was being the runner up in the first edition of Spanish X Factor, in 2007, but she became a phenomenon when she starred in iconic teen drama Física o Química (2008-2011) as Paula Blasco. She also released various albums and songs, like the hit and iconic emo bop Sola en el silencio. After the show she has appeared in various TV programs like Tu Cara Me Suena, and has continued making music as well as acting in theatre, cinema and TV shows. Her last released song is Dualidad.

DELLACRUZ

Jorge de la Cruz Correa, better known as Dellacruz (Santa Cruz de Tenerife) is a Canarian urban pop singer that started his own singing career in 2019 after ample experience as a songwriter; he has written songs for artists such as Sergio Dalma, Xuso Jones, or Dvicio, among many others. His most known song is La Trama, whereas his last released song is Tocamos Cielo.

JORGE GONZÁLEZ

Jorge González González (Madrid, 35) first rose to fame after competing in OT 2006, and he since has been in two Spanish preselections for ESC 2009 and 2014. He has also participated in The Voice and in Tu Cara Me Suena, where he won in the 2020 edition. His most famous song is Por Besarte, and his last released song is Agüita.

LÉRICA

Lérica is a duo composed of Tony Mateo (San Fernando, 29) and Juan Carlos Arauzo formed in 2015 that sings pop infused flamenco and urban music, and have collabed with very big artists like Belinda, Gente de Zona, Abraham Mateo (brother of Tony Mateo), Cali y el Dandee or Juan Magán. They have 14 platinum albums and 9 golden ones, and are right now the most listened to Spanish duo in terms of streams. Their most famous song is Flamenkito, and their latest released song is Un Rato pa Siempre.

MANTRA

Mantra is a pop band made out of Carlos Marco (Alacant, 31), Paula Pérez and Charly Weinberg (Madrid, 25), born in 2020 when the three friends decided to start a project together. All three have been in the music industry for a long time; Carlos Marcos is the most-known of them, as he was part of the boyband Auryn (alongside Spain's representant in ESC 2021, Blas Cantó), who participated in the ESC 2011 preselection. They have an up-beat and positive attitude in their songs, and have released their first album in 2023. Their most popular song is No Te Esperaba, and their latest single is ¿Te Acuerdas o No?.

MARÍA PELÁE

María Peláe (Málaga, 33) is an icon and a flamenco singer known for her witty and ironic lyrics, with a modern spin on traditional sounds. She started her career in 2016 after studying Anthropology and Social Work in university, and so her songs usually have a social message. In fact, in 2023 she was awarded the Rainbow Award by the Ministry of Equality for her work in the LGBTQ+ scene. A song I really recommend of hers regarding this is La Niña, a very fun song about wlws (also the music video is soooo). She has released two albums - the second of which won an Odeón to Best Flamenco Album, and has participated in various TV shows like Tu Cara Me Suena. Her most popular song is Por si te vas, and her latest single is Letra Menúa.

MARLENA

MARLENA is an indie pop duo composed by Ana Legazpi (voice) and Carolina Moyano (guitar) that formed a band in 2017 when they decided to participate in X Factor Italy. They became friends with Damiano and Victoria from Maneskin, and decided to name themselves after one of their songs, Torna a Casa, where the name Marlena appears. They even sing some of Maneskin's song in their concerts. In 2021 they were nominated for Best New Artist or Group in the Los 40 Music Awards, and have collabed with Nil Moliner, La Pegatina or Despistados. I listen to their song bailamorena at least once a week (i wish i was joking), tho their most popular song is Me Sabe Mal. Their latest released song is Red Flags.

MISS CAFFEINA

Miss Caffeina, formed by Alberto Jiménez (voice), Sergio Sastre (guitar and keyboard) and Antonio Poza (bass) is definitely the biggest name this edition. They are a staple in the indie rock scene since their inception in 2006, and are especially staples in music festivals all over the country and abroad. They have realeased three albums and an EP, and their most known song is the modern classic Mira Cómo Vuelo, with over 13 m views on youtube. Their last released single is Para toda la vida.

NEBULOSSA

Nebulossa is an electropop band formed by María Bas (voice) and Mark Dasousa (producer, synths). They debuted in 2021, and define their formula as MPYMS (A lot of Pop and a lot of Synths), basing their music on the sounds an rhythms of the 80s. Their most popular song is GLAM, and their latest song is 1N84.

NOAN

Noan (Zarautz, 25) is a pop-rock indie artist that debuted in 2020. He has collabed with zzoilo or El Sueño de Morfeo, and I personally really enjoy his collab with Paula Koops, Odio que te Quiero. His most popular song is ME MATA(S), and his latest song is Zero (which is a cover btw).

QUIQUE NIZA

Quique Niza (Madrid, 20) is a musical theatre actor who has been performing all of his life; some of his notable roles are Kurt von Trapp in The Sound of Music, and Danny Zuko in Grease (I saw him live here, and he's incredible!). He has also appeared in some TV shows, like UPA Next and Días Mejores. He has only released one song so far, Ardo.

ROGER PADRÓS

Roger Padrós (Polinyà, 26) is a Catalan singer and piano player that first rose to fame as a participant in The Voice. He has since released an EP and an album, with songs both in Spanish and Catalan (he has confirmed his song for Benidorm Fest will be in Catalan). He is also the resident musician of Casa Batlló, in Barcelona. His most popular song is Digue'm, and his latest song is El Buit.

SOFIA COLL

Sofia Coll i Benito (Barcelona, 24) is a singer, actress, and dancer who rose to fame as a participant of The Voice Kids when she was 14, although she didn't release music until 2019, with songs that mixed Spanish and English. She was one of the protagonist of the TV show Bany Compartit (I watched the first episode while writing this, it's really fun and I really recommend it! Episodes are around 10 minutes long, and you can find all of them in RTVE Play and Youtube; they're in catalan, but there's Spanish subs available), and she was one of the dancers in Rosalía's mv for Fucking Money Man. Finally, she participated in the Catalan music contest Eufòria this year, ending up 4th. Her most popular song is Tú Mente y Yo Corazón, and her latest song is Génesis: Alive.

ST. PEDRO

Pedro Hernández, better known as st. Pedro (Santa Cruz de Tenerife) is an urban artist, rising to fame due to The Voice, where he participated in 2017. Through the program he met Juanes, his musical godfather. He has know collabed with Alizzz in Miami, where he lives now. His most known song is Cerca del Sol, and his latest song is No es lo que toca.

YOLY SAA

Yoly Saa (Pontevedra) is a Galician singer-songwriter singing in Spanish that has been making music since 2020, although she has also composed for other artists such as Luz Casal o Malú. She has released an EP and a full album, and participated in Dúos Increíbles in 2022. Her most popular song is Todo contigo, and her latest song is Mal de altura.

Following a trial that lasted nearly four weeks, a federal jury in Memphis, Tennessee, found three former Memphis Police Department (MPD) officers guilty of federal felonies related to the death of Tyre Nichols on Jan. 7, 2023. “All three former Memphis Police Department officers were convicted of federal felonies for their role in Tyre Nichols’ death,” said Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clarke of the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division. “They join two additional former officers who had already pled guilty.  With these convictions, all five of the former officers involved in the death of Mr. Nichols have been convicted of federal felonies. Tyre Nichols should be alive today. We extend our condolences to the family and loved ones of Mr. Nichols. ***

◼ U.S. district judge John Mendez ruled Wednesday that California’s law prohibiting what it called “election-related misinformation” doesn’t pass constitutional muster; the First Amendment protects political parody and satire even when members of the public might be fooled by it. The decision concerned video-maker Christopher Kohls, who goes by the handle “Mr. Reagan” on X. He produces deepfake-style political ads mocking progressives such as Kamala Harris. California’s law was so broad that it barred any deceptive communications likely to hurt a candidate’s reputation or electoral chances. Lawmakers should have known this provision could be interpreted as criminalizing a great deal of political speech that relies on exaggeration and humor. What is really bothering California’s lawmakers is not the access of citizens to the great traditions of political rhetoric—Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert were never going to be harassed by such a law. What scares lawmakers is that the means for making effective, professional-looking political propaganda are being democratized. Average citizens as well as media behemoths can now make politicians look goofy with a well-edited video, and social-media companies such as X, which remain outside progressive control, help those clips go viral. As the election approaches, we expect more claims that average citizens are dupes and cat’s-paws of foreign powers, a treacherous excuse for denying them their First Amendment rights.

***Murrah contacted USAA and convinced the institution to conduct an investigation — but USAA allegedly told him there was no evidence of fraud, despite a $14,174 loss across two of his accounts, including his emergency savings. Then, the bank unexpectedly closed his account. “The transactions were taking place in totally different states, they could see everything,” Murrah said. “They knew it wasn’t me, but for some reason they said it wasn’t fraud.”*** In April, a federal grand jury in Louisiana indicted 21 people involved with stealing nearly $7 million from USAA customers — particularly the accounts of older individuals with high bank balances. Three of the defendants worked for a call center that provided customer service for USAA and helped the rest of the group to access customers’ banking details to create counterfeit checks, reports Dayton Daily News. Last year, the institution also reported a data breach that may have impacted around 19,000 members after employees at a USAA contractor shared their access credentials with unauthorized individuals. And in 2022, the bank paid a stunning $140 million in civil fines to two federal regulators — the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network and the Comptroller of the Currency for falling behind in reporting suspicious transactions.***

Chinese hackers accessed the networks of U.S. broadband providers and obtained information from systems that the federal government uses for court-authorized wiretapping, the Wall Street Journal reported on Saturday. Verizon Communications, AT&T and Lumen Technologies are among the telecoms companies whose networks were breached by the recently discovered intrusion, the newspaper said, citing people familiar with the matter. The hackers might have held access for months to network infrastructure used by the companies to cooperate with court-authorized U.S. requests for communications data, the Journal said. Last fall, deadspin published a lie

The lie accused a 9-y/o boy of the worst sorts of racism. When the family pointed out that it was a hurtful lie, deadspin reinforced and republished the lie. The family sued.

***On Monday, Superior Court Judge Sean Lugg denied Deadspin’s motion to dismiss the Armentas’ lawsuit, rejecting arguments that the article was opinion and thus protected from liability for defamation. “Deadspin published an image of a child displaying his passionate fandom as a backdrop for its critique of the NFL’s diversity efforts and, in its description of the child, crossed the fine line protecting its speech from defamation claims,” the judge wrote. “Having reviewed the complaint, the court concludes that Deadspin’s statements accusing H.A. of wearing black face and Native headdress ‘to hate black people and the Native American at the same time,’ and that he was taught this hatred by his parents, are provable false assertions of fact and are therefore actionable,” Lugg added. Lugg also refused to dismiss the lawsuit based on Deadspin’s argument that it should have been filed in California, where the Armentas live, instead of Delaware, where Deadspin’s former parent company, G/O Media, is incorporated. One month after the Armentas filed their lawsuit, G/O Media sold the Deadspin website to Lineup Publishing, and the entire staff was laid off.

*** Schardin, of Blaine, was at a hotel with her spouse and two children on Jan. 14 when she spotted the two teen athletes, who were traveling from Colorado with their team, and struck up a conversation with them, according to a complaint obtained by Law & Crime. While she was with the boys in the hot tub, her husband yelled, “If you don’t come upstairs, our relationship is over,”*** She allegedly told the boys they were young enough to be her kids, but then pressured them into sex acts with her while a third boy watched, according to the complaint. “You already have a 38-year-old woman, a female in your bed, don’t you want to do more,” she said, according to one of the victims. “(Victim 1) described feeling stuck in the moment and did not know how to say no,” the complaint reads. “He said that in his head, his response was ‘not really’ but he responded by saying ‘sure,’ though he ‘wasn’t totally on board with it.’” Following the encounter, Schardin tracked the boys down to a rink where they were playing a game the next day. “(Victim 1) said they all started getting nervous and he was shaking on the bench at one point because he wanted to leave what happened the night before in the past and she was trying to follow them, ‘it was really creepy,'” *** In exchange for her guilty plea, another criminal count was dismissed and prosecutors agreed to jail time of no more than eight months, the Star Tribune reported. She must also register as a predatory sex offender. Her sentencing is set for Jan. 10, 2025, according to CBS News Minnesota.

En esta actividad de los tecnicismos me ayudó a saber que eran los tecnicismos y cuando usarlas, al igual que como usarlos en el lenguaje, ya que no forman parte del lenguaje coloquial, eso hace que por lo general resultan difíciles de comprender para el común de la gente. También existen miles de tecnicismos y nadie los conoce todos, pero en una palabra resumen un término compuesto diferentes compuestos cuya definición tiene una extensión mucho mayor. Si un programador le quiere sugerir a su compañero cierto tecnicismo, no tiene que definir el concepto ya que ambos lo entienden

En lo personal esta actividad me parecio muy util ya que varia gente usa tecnicismos sin saber qué son y su origen  

 

ACTIVIDAD "CARTA AL DIRECTOR" Hernández Martínez Fernando Adrián M2B

En esta actividad principalmente habló sobre los tipos de cartas, entre estas la carta formal e informal y lo importante que son a la hora de redactar una carta hacia alguien. La carta formal está dirigida principalmente a gente de "superior" se podía decir, ya sea tu jefe de empresa o alguna persona importante, en cambio, la carta informal está dirigida a gente que nos rodea, ya sea familiares o amigos. También nos enseñaron el orden en que debe de estar la carta y lo que debe de llevar, hasta arriba llevará la fecha, después un saludo, el cuerpo, una despedida y por último una firma.

En lo personal esta actividad me gustó mucho, ya que para abordar lo aprendido, tuvimos que escribirle una carta al director y comentarle los cambios que quería que hiciera en nuestra institución

Etimología.

La etimología es una rama de la lingüística que se ocupa del estudio del origen de las palabras, así como de sus cambios a lo largo de la historia de la lengua (su derivación). La etimología de una palabra da cuenta de dónde proviene y de cómo se incorporó al idioma, así como su cronología de cambios y adaptaciones, especialmente cuando provienen de otros idiomas o de lenguas muertas (generalmente el latín y el griego antiguo).

La etimología, de esta manera, no sólo satisface la curiosidad respecto al origen de una palabra, es decir, en donde figuran sus raíces y qué significaba inicialmente, sino que también señala una cronología o historia de la palabra, que refleja en gran medida la historia del idioma al que pertenece. Al mismo tiempo, además, contribuye a una comprensión más plena de cómo opera el idioma, lo cual repercute en una mejor ortografía y un más amplio vocabulario.

¿Qué te enseña la etimología?

La etimología es una ciencia que estudia el significado de las palabras a través del conocimiento de su origen, estructura y transformaciones a lo largo del tiempo  así podemos conocer más vocabulario con su significado.

Se llama��signo lingüístico a la unidad mínima de la comunicación verbal, parte de un sistema social y psíquico de comunicación entre los seres humanos, que conocemos como lenguaje. Este mecanismo actúa sustituyendo a las cosas de la realidad por signos que las representan, y en el caso del lenguaje verbal, por signos que podemos recibir a través de los sentidos y luego decodificar e interpretar para recuperar un mensaje original.  Todo signo es una representación convencional de la realidad, que se enmarca en un sistema convencional, social, de sustituciones: en el caso del lenguaje verbal, se trata de la palabra por la cosa, o mejor dicho: un sonido específico por la impresión que deja la cosa referida en la mente El signo lingüístico fue el tema de estudio de Ferdinand de Saussure y Charles Sanders Peirce en el siglo XIX, cuyos estudios sentaron las bases para la posterior lingüística moderna 

Tipos de signos

Índices. El signo tiene una relación lógica, causal, de proximidad de algún tipo con su referente real. Por ejemplo: las huellas de un perro en el suelo, remiten a la presencia del animal.

Íconos. En este caso, el signo se asemeja a lo que representa, es decir, tiene una relación mimética o de parecido. Por ejemplo: una onomatopeya del sonido de un animal.

Símbolos. Son los que presentan la relación más compleja entre el objeto y el referente, ya que es totalmente cultural, arbitraria. Por ejemplo: los emblemas religiosos, las banderas, los escudos de armas.

King Jaime's rival, Count Pelayu Lopez of Tudela is murdered by King Jaime in a plot involving a band of highway robbers. The plot remains undiscovered and King Jaime gains prestige and loses stress from outliving his rival.
