After Light from Vallée Duhamel on Vimeo.
In a surreal journey through the human mind, 'After Light' weaves an exploration of our mutable selves. The film steers viewers into a slightly distorted dreamscape that illuminates our dance with a changing world. Strange characters move in a world where boundaries between reality and artifice are ambiguous. Alongside towering giants, they find their way in this chaos, sculpted by unknown forces. As the narrative unfolds, the protagonists ignite, hinting at a loss that is both beautiful and tragic, yet not all-consuming. In an unexpected playful twist on dystopia, 'After Light' suggests that even though we may be losing parts our intrinsic nature to artificial influences, we are also on the brink of a new kind of existence - one that we are just beginning to grasp.

Five Elements of Mauritania from Timelab Pro on Vimeo.
For licensing and collabs: [email protected] Shot on DJI Inspire 3 in 8K 50FPS Prores RAW
We traveled to Mauritania in search of stunning landscapes and beautiful colors, but what we discovered there was something absolutely magical.
Mauritania revealed itself to us like a symphony of nature's elements. When we experienced the raw power of the earth, the gentle touch of the wind, the captivating dance of fire, and soothing embrace of water, it felt like there was an invisible force, a fifth element, giving meaning to everything that surrounded us.
Among the calm sand dunes, we met people who found their peace amidst the shifting sands, while others, along the shore, were braving the ocean. And in between, the wondrous Eye of the Sahara stood as a silent witness. Like a celestial watching over the ever-changing life amid the timeless dunes, quietly keeping the secrets of the past.
Immersed in the nature of Mauritania, we felt wonder and connection to the timeless history.

Memory of places from Hiroshi Kondo on Vimeo.
With COVID-19, the city was devoid of people. The landscape that the city once possessed has changed completely, becoming silent and eerie. However, the sense of déjà vu and memories that everyone has are still in the place itself. With these memories, the city continues to mark time.

Stickup from Raven Kwok on Vimeo.
ravenkwok.com/stickup/
Stickup is a code-based generative lyrics video I directed and programmed for the track Stickup (itunes.apple.com/us/album/stick-up-feat.-juliette-lewis/id1059843613) by Karma Fields (soundcloud.com/karmafields) & MORTEN (soundcloud.com/mortenofficial) featuring Juliette Lewis (twitter.com/JulietteLewis). The entire lyrics video consists of multiple stages that are programmed and generated using Processing.
The system for generating the visuals is partially derived from the one previously used in Build the Cities (vimeo.com/121096680). Lyrics are parsed, making each layer of quadtree structure subdivide itself to a corresponding pattern. ____________________________________________________________

TAKRAR (2023) | تكرار from Waref Abu Quba on Vimeo.
Takrar or Repetition is an experimental film that celebrates the timeless and intricate beauty of ancient craftsmanship. Filmed in Istanbul, the film takes us on a mesmerizing journey into the past, paying homage to Islamic, Ottoman, Greek, and Byzantine art forms.
It's hard to believe that I have finished working on this film, which occupied most of my free time over the past two years. When I first visited Istanbul in 2021, I was captivated by its timeless beauty and decided to capture it through my lens. I shot about 2,900 photos, and after editing and animating them, I created about 270 video scenes. Creating each frame of this film was an utter joy, and every new scene brought unexpected and beautiful surprises.
Collaborating with Alex Story on the music for this film was a profoundly enriching experience. Alex went above and beyond to compose music that perfectly complemented the picture. We worked on the score for over eight months, and we were also very lucky to collaborate with percussionist Robbe Kieckens, whose playing added a magical touch to the film. I couldn't be happier with the result.
After months of hard work, I'm thrilled to call this project complete and share it with you. Takrar is my tribute to ancient arts, and hope you enjoy watching it as much as I enjoyed creating it.
