6, 15, 25 for Aerana AND the OC(s) currently taking up a lot of space in your mind 馃憖
I have been thinking about the co-mmanders again, so I'll throw in those when relevant.
6. What combat situation are they better suited for? Can they handle a 1v1 fight or do they prefer to have someone always on their side? How do they deal with larger-scale combat and what's their role in it (frontlines/leading the charge, backline/support, as far from it as possible, etc)? What happens if they are ambushed or outnumbered? Is there any situation that stressed them particularly?
Aerana: Should not be in any combat situation. She gets sick at the sight of blood and can't control her magic at a sufficient strenght. She should be sitting somewhere indoors looking at a holographic projection of the area telling people where to go.
Commander Aluen: Best suited to fight against large groups on her own, simply because she is big and strong enough to take out multiple enemies in one swing. Her real heart is in tactics though, she stays out of fighting unless her strength is really needed.
Commander Wurmslayer: Right at home on the frontlines. Excellent teamwork, very aware of his surroundings and very quick to figure out how the people around him tend to move.
Commander Fenquin: Talented Duellist and as such best in single combat, though don't be surprised when he uses his shadow magic to punch much above his weight in group engagements.
Commander Posh: They consider themselves a scientist and wouldn't seek a fight ever, but of course working for the pact doesn't always give them the freedom to stay away from that. This is their enemies greatest boon, because Posh's portal magic enhanced marksmanship makes them probably the most dangerous of the commanders.
Commander Steelforge: Prefers to work in a group, magically enhancing their weaponry, or tending to the tanks and siege weaponry. Absolutely capable of making a stand on his own too though.
15. How powerful is their magic compared to their peers? How do they feel about it? Is it their limit?
Aerana: Excellent person to ask this about. This is a complicated topic. Aerana has trouble controlling the flow of magic. Even with strong foci she only dares use very weak magic, barely enough to hurt anyone. Anything more, and she simply lets loose at full power until she falls unconscious from exhaustion, often further hurting herself in the process.
Commander Fenquin: Not powerful, but extremely adept at utilising it to it's fullest potentional. A little shadowstepping goes a long way if you know how to integrate it into your fighting.
Commander Posh: Mesmer Collective level powers and the intellect to use them very efficiently.
Commander Steelforge: Averagely powerful, but implemented in an unusual way which makes it hard to compare.
25. Do they use a weapon or magic unique to them/that's not present in-game? If so, how does it work?
Aerana: Uses air magic as a welding tool.
Commander Aluen: Well she is a Vinetooth Prime shaped
Commander Wurmslayer: Still uses weapons while Wolf shaped
Commander Fenquin: Shadowsteps only work in shadows
Commander Posh: Dual Pistols that work kind of like mesmer rifle
Commander Steelforge: Elementalist magic enhanced engineer weapons.

OK mixed answers for multiple commanders obviously
Valoop was never close to Zojja. After Heart of Thorns she was the one other's had to try hard to get in contact with and by the time she got around to talking to her friends again Zojja had long disappeared
Ruck and Aluen equally were not close to Zojja, and knowing that others were, expected those to look after her.
Yorg was friends with her, and tried to visit as much as she could, but Zojja was more and more actively ignoring and avoiding him.
Fenquin did not visit her while she was in recovery, and only started looking for her when she disappeared. He knows she joined some mysterious group and knows of several appearances throughout the years.
Posh was very close to her ever since she helped them win the Snaff Prize. They had been to the crucible of eternity together. Posh and Zojja had built a bunch of stuff for the pact together, including the MegaLIT Cannon. They regularly visited her during recovery and involved her in their research projects. That did not stop Zojja from eventually disappearing though. Posh tried to find them, but had to break off the unsuccessful search when Krakattorrik started threatening to tear the universe apart
Fuck Canon

1. At what point during the story do they meet up?
Aluen and Posh first meet after joining the Priory, Yorg and Valoop first meet after Valoop joins the Vigil (so at the end of the lvl 50 story). Everyone meets each other at the first round of Claw Island.
2. Which of the 3 orders did each one join?
Posh and Aluen join the Priory, Yorg, Valoop and Ruck join the Vigil and Fenquin joins Whispers.
3. Were they all present for Claw Island?
Yes for both rounds.
4. Did they have different responsibilities in the Pact?
Aluen handles strategy, Ruck handles construction and logistics, Posh handles R&D, Fenquin handles intelligence, Yorg handles PR and recruitment. Valoop is the marshall's unhinged friend.
5. Did all of them, only a few, or just one of them go through the dungeon storylines?
Every dungeon is done by at least one of them, but never all at once. Catacombs are done by Ruck, Caudecus' Manor is done by Fenquin and after that it's the commanders corresponding to the Destiny's Edge members involved.
6. Did they chase after Caithe together or was one/were some on the airship with Trahearne during the start of HoT?
The group is very scattered during HoT. Valoop and Posh aren't along for the initial attack, Yorg gets lost and isn't involved in any of the advance on mordremoth. Aluen is with Trahearne and also get's captured. Ruck is with the Ordnance Corps. Fenquin is on Faren's Flier. Posh and Fenquin both start chasing Caithe with Valoop, but they can't keep up with Valoops new magic crystal wings.
7. Did all of them go into Mordremoth's mind? Did an extra NPC get left out or did two still go?
Only Valoop goes into Mordy's mind, everyone else is outside organizing the MoM battle. (She takes Canach and Caithe with her)
8. Who mercy killed Trahearne?
Valoop :,)
9. Did any of them join the Shining Blade?
Fenquin
10. Which one died to Balthazar?
Valoop >:)
11. Are all of them champions of Aurene?
Only Valoop
12. Which one was shot by Bangar?
Valoop.
13. Who was on the airship that crash landed in Cantha?
Valoop
14. How close are they? What do they think of each other?
Valoop tries very hard to not be friends with people, but the others care about jher very much. Aluen tries very hard to hide from the people she considers friends, but they also still care for her. Yorg Ruck Fenquin and Posh are best buddies.
15. Are any of them Aurene-branded?
None (yet. I might change my mind later, I am considering something like that for Fenquin)
16. How effective are they as a team?
Terrifyingly.
17. Are there any that certain members of Dragon's Watch prefer over the others?
Everyone loves Yorg. Yorg is the best.
18. Do they share responsibility at the same time or do they hand it off as needed?
They're all operating simultaneously.
19. If they weren't the commanders, would they still be friend?
With Yorg probably, he is the best. Posh it would depend heavily on when they'd uncommander. Right after season 1 it would probably only Yorg still around for them.
20. Would they pick their co-commander/s over anyone else? Over Tyria's safety?
They are all agressively self sacrificial. They would die for each other, but they would never let someone die to save another commander. They would fight over who would get to jump on a grenade.
#Commander Valoop#Commander Wurmslayer#Commander Steelforge#Commander Posh#Commander Aluen#Commander Fenquin#Co-mmanders#the smileys on the valoops accurately describe the mood after the event.

Wait did I ever make a post here about Caladbolg things or was that on discord? I can't find it when searching my blog but also when does one ever.
Anyways all commanders get a piece of the broken sword after HoT. They all go on their own little adventures to reforge it. Fittingly enough there are five reforged caladbolg weapons in the game.
Yorg makes it a greatsword again. Restores it as best he can to it's former glory. It itself is a legend and it is here to tell it's tale. Through it Trahearnes work will not be forgotten.
Posh makes it into a scepter. Caladbolg is an object of powerful magic, fueled by the hands that held it. Through it Trahearnes work can go on.
Ruck makes it into a shield. Caladbolg had been forged to protect Tyria, and now it has been reforged to continue that duty. Through it Trahearnes achievements will endure.
Aluen makes it into sword. Caladbolg had allowed them to drive back the dragon threat and now it will carry that momentum. Through it Trahearnes death can be avenged.
Fenquin makes it into a dagger. Caladbolg had been shattered as a sacrifice. Through it that sacrifice is given power.
Valoop makes it into a seed and plants at her lost friends feet. He had grown in Caladbolgs light and now Caladbolg will grow in his soil. Through it Trahearne will live on.

Commander Valoop technically owns several but neither knows nor desires to learn how to ride them.
Gekk owns a swarm (herd? flock?) of skimmers he imported to lions arch to rent out for city tours and also smuggling obviously.
Commander Ruck hatched the first Skyscale, Commander Fenquin tamed the Griffon.
gw2 oc question of the day|
Does your character have mounts canonically as part of their story? Do those mounts have names? What ones are canon to your character? How did they meet or befriend or create those mounts? What is your favourite mount to use in-game, would it differ from what your character would prefer to use?

Last and unfortunately for him least: Commander Fenquin.
His problem is that he knows Countess Anise. I needn't say more.
Fenquin is a thief, of the full on shadow magic variety. Genuine invisibility in everything less than open daylight. Shadowsteps. The works. He could walk behind you for miles and you wouldn't hear a single sound.
His fighting stile is much less obvious than everyone elses, which is why he can seem a bit boring to describe. He is still insanely talented and very dangerous though. I'm sorry Fenquin.

Hmmmm, the Aluen post has got me thinking about the rest of my commanders and what damage they took from being the commander.
Aluen thinks herself horrid and unlovable, keeps being a commander because she wants to prove to herself she's not a monster.
Valoop is isolating herself because ahe is too afraid of making new friends and then losing them again. Keeps being a commander so that others don't have to. (the implications that those others would have friends who would be sad)
Posh does not trust themself because if they betray their friends once they could do it again but is also so wrecked with guilt that they feel they have to keep being a commander to make up for all the pain they caused.
Ruck gets so battered by the constant world ending threat after worldending threat that he grows apathetic, more and more just going through the motions and it's only during icebrood saga that he gets a moment of introspection, realises how fucked up he is and the apathy flips into barely contained rage at how fucked up the world is that people can't just live in peace. Also he may have potentially possibly talked a lot with Jormag. Do not ask him what he is building in the basement.
Yorg I don't know about yet. He was always the agressively happy one and I don't want that to fall away, but I'm sure I can come up with some bittersweet corruption of that.
Fenquin also doesn't have anything yet and that's because he's the least developed character out of them, I don't even have enough of a personality for him to know what to twist.
But yeah. Do not become a commander. It will fuck you up.

Ranking my commanders based on how scarred they are (physically, not emotionally)
0. Valoop. Does not scar anymore ever since she ate Joko
1. Posh. Has the supernatural ability of not getting on airship that are going to crash. Also just plays it safe in general and really good at hitting the bricks.
2. Yorg. Loves to get in a fight, but the Norn transformation stuff makes him a bit resistant to scarring. But dont be mistaken by the position he has upwards of a dozen. The others just scars George.
3. Fenquin. Most of his scars stem from being an idiot child with a sword, but he has some newer ones as well.
2. Aluen. Thick vinetooth bark heals differently to normal skin, so scars stick around easier. Also she just fights recklessly. She will straight up run into a blade because she knows she can take it.
1. Ruck. Covered from head to toe in a pattern of burn scars due to flame legion magic.

Lies instinctively, really good at manipulating people and he hates it, but just does it as an impulse. Tries to keep people at a distance because he thinks he's a terrible person, but pushing people away would be too obvious, so he pretends to be friends for so long he forgets genuine connection. Just goes through the motions to build a facade so thick no one notices he's not doing ok because making people worry about a horrible person (him) would do them a disservice so he'd rather they just have a friend in his false self but now he has to act a fun and happy life in perpetuity because making his friends worry about a fake person would be cruel, so he must make sure he never let's out a sliver of the emotional anguish he is in.
:)
I just realised which of my issues I can give to commander fenquin

鈿旓笍 I would love another bit of Valoop trivia~
@mystery-salad
All my commanders got a part of the broken caladbolg and went on their own individual journeys to grow it back (Ruck grows it into the shield, Posh into the scepter, Yorg into the Greatsword, Aluen into the sword and Fenquin into the dagger) except for Valoop who doesn't grow it back into anything useful and instead just lets it grow freely. When she is beating up Balthasar at the end of PoF Caladbolg is barely recognizable as having once been a sword, she's basically carrying a little tree around with her. Also the effect of the weapon ingame of generating butterflies around it absolutely does carry over. As she stands in the sky gardens face to face with balthasar and his forged warbeast there are flames licking at her from sohothin and a cloud of butterflies around her from caladbolg.
#Valoop#Commander Valoop#when I realised the five options for regrown caladbolg fit perfectly on my five co mmanders I was ecstatic

I'm reading the human PS chapters again because I'm not happy with commander fenquin's story yet and it's so hars to decide what he experienced. with asura and norn and sylvari it's so easy because their paths aren't really exclusive to each other.

Out of your commanders, most to least lore breaking 馃挅
@mystery-salad
Lore breaking isn't something I do a lot, especially with my commanders, so this is much more of a "how much did they deviate from the story" than anything interesting
1. Posh: Joined Scarlet. Also I think my mesmer hcs are going against the lore a middling amount.
2. Valoop: Quaggan.
3. Ruck: His magic is not technically something elementalists can do ingame, but it is in spirit with Elementalist skills and mirrors magic we see from other not-explicitly-elementalists.
4. Aluen: Based directly on two enemies in the story. I guess we do not see someone that is physically corrupted but still free from mordys mindcontrol.
5. Yorg and Fenquin: I don't think they break anything at all.

most likely to end up in jail for Stupid Reasons, category; Commanders
1. Posh: Already has been in jail for stupid reasons.
2. Yorg: Remember that whole misplaced charr tank adventure? He's gotten better now but it's not impossible that it could happen again.
3. Ruck: Not unlikely to start some shit with Legion officials that would end with him behind bars.
4. Valoop: Has been to jail more than any other commander but it was all doing hero business that doesn't really count as stupid reasons.
5. Aluen: Unlikely to do stupid things that would get her jailtime (Very likely to do stupid things that just make her sad) Also hard to fit her into any cell.
6. Fenquin: Third spot on stupid reasons but it would be impossible to actually get him into jail.

On that note I am seriously considering having just one of them go through SotO and retiring the rest. Aluen is already kind of out of the story, and I don't know if fenquin will ever grow on me. And quite honestly I think I've brought Valoop to an emotional point where she can't keep going. After Icebrood Saga, I don't think she would be the "I would save the farm" commander anymore. She goes to cantha, is the very emotional individual for what lies beneath/within and after that her friends make her stop. And then as she is no longer the commander she completely collapses.
Leaves Yorg, Ruck and Posh, who neither individually are a commander in the capacity SotO needs nor do they work as a group of three. They lack the drive Aluen and Valoop had provided. Not to mention they are each emotionally wrecked and weary of conflict too. I mean that's a commander prerequisite. I just mention that to say they could reasonably take time off to rest.
So maybe this really is the end of the commander's story and the Wayfinder is a truly different person. I have a few characters already that have encountered powerful magic and have impacted the fate of tyria. Maybe Lorna will become the Wayfinder. That could be interesting. Or I do something silly and make Captain Kryta be involved with some secretly powerful mystical forces
Much to consider.
The lack of the promised post on how my commanders experience Soto is 10% because that anon kinda took the wind out of me and 90% because I realised that anet kinda took the wind out of me with icebrood saga and I never thought about what my commanders are doing past dragonfall. Oops.

I just figured out that now that I have multiple commanders I can simply delegate the parts of the story that don't really fit Valoop to the others.
Valoop never joined the Shining Blade, Fenquin did. (He immediately regretted it)
Valoop finds Gorrik slightly irritating and is wary about his inquest past. Aluen and him are best friends though. Sometimes she lets him pretend to ride her around because nobody can refuse to give you research materials of you ask from the back of a monstrous killing machine.
Somehow Ruck is the one that did the whole Skyscale adventure
Average commander tames 9 animals to ride into battle is a statistical error. Yorg the Slayer of Issormir, who has gathered seventy-four mounts is an outlier and should not have been counted.
Posh did the whole Shadow stone quest line to purify the gang from the ley line magic. Valoop chugged the Krait oil tho.
