6, 15, 25 for Aerana AND the OC(s) currently taking up a lot of space in your mind 👀
I have been thinking about the co-mmanders again, so I'll throw in those when relevant.
6. What combat situation are they better suited for? Can they handle a 1v1 fight or do they prefer to have someone always on their side? How do they deal with larger-scale combat and what's their role in it (frontlines/leading the charge, backline/support, as far from it as possible, etc)? What happens if they are ambushed or outnumbered? Is there any situation that stressed them particularly?
Aerana: Should not be in any combat situation. She gets sick at the sight of blood and can't control her magic at a sufficient strenght. She should be sitting somewhere indoors looking at a holographic projection of the area telling people where to go.
Commander Aluen: Best suited to fight against large groups on her own, simply because she is big and strong enough to take out multiple enemies in one swing. Her real heart is in tactics though, she stays out of fighting unless her strength is really needed.
Commander Wurmslayer: Right at home on the frontlines. Excellent teamwork, very aware of his surroundings and very quick to figure out how the people around him tend to move.
Commander Fenquin: Talented Duellist and as such best in single combat, though don't be surprised when he uses his shadow magic to punch much above his weight in group engagements.
Commander Posh: They consider themselves a scientist and wouldn't seek a fight ever, but of course working for the pact doesn't always give them the freedom to stay away from that. This is their enemies greatest boon, because Posh's portal magic enhanced marksmanship makes them probably the most dangerous of the commanders.
Commander Steelforge: Prefers to work in a group, magically enhancing their weaponry, or tending to the tanks and siege weaponry. Absolutely capable of making a stand on his own too though.
15. How powerful is their magic compared to their peers? How do they feel about it? Is it their limit?
Aerana: Excellent person to ask this about. This is a complicated topic. Aerana has trouble controlling the flow of magic. Even with strong foci she only dares use very weak magic, barely enough to hurt anyone. Anything more, and she simply lets loose at full power until she falls unconscious from exhaustion, often further hurting herself in the process.
Commander Fenquin: Not powerful, but extremely adept at utilising it to it's fullest potentional. A little shadowstepping goes a long way if you know how to integrate it into your fighting.
Commander Posh: Mesmer Collective level powers and the intellect to use them very efficiently.
Commander Steelforge: Averagely powerful, but implemented in an unusual way which makes it hard to compare.
25. Do they use a weapon or magic unique to them/that's not present in-game? If so, how does it work?
Aerana: Uses air magic as a welding tool.
Commander Aluen: Well she is a Vinetooth Prime shaped
Commander Wurmslayer: Still uses weapons while Wolf shaped
Commander Fenquin: Shadowsteps only work in shadows
Commander Posh: Dual Pistols that work kind of like mesmer rifle
Commander Steelforge: Elementalist magic enhanced engineer weapons.

Frigg is my oldest character. Created on the 8th of January 2014 as Frigg der Pirscher and still carrying that name, he has for closing in on 10 years been my go to character for exploration, story and any time I needed to be sure I was going to survive something (please never nerf ranger downstate skill 3).
The character as you know him as now exists since roughly 2017 when I used him as a quest giver for a guild rp plot. He has had a few little changes, but mostly he just gained more detail -and a wife- with time.
As a character he is a scientist researching the various ways magic contamination affects the living enviroment. He prefers to study animals, but he does know what a plant is (though I guess that distinction doesn't work as well in guild wars). He likes spending time outdoors, and his outfits reflect that. He could run around in more typical asuran fashion, but he likes to think of himself as a rugged adventurer, and so the look must match. On his travels he also pursues his hobby, cryptozoology, which quite often intertwines with his field of study anyways. He also likes to buy souvenirs for his wife who is a surface-historian (as opposed to those whose study of history dwells mostly on asura and thus mostly underground.)
A big part of his character are the pets he brings home. Mostly small things like insects (though I guess this comparison ALSO doesn't work in guild wars what with the meter long grubs and all) or miniaturised basilisks. Some he keeps only to treat them and then releases them back into nature, but often cases require long term care, or warrant long observations, and he tends to grow attached to those. Most notably among them are Professor Knibbles PhD. and Felix.
Professor Knibbles the Juvenile Whiptail Devourer has been his pet ingame for as long as I remember, but the second spot has changed a few times over the years, in some old screenshots it's a snow wolf, and then since HoT it had been a bristleback for a long time, until settling on Felix the Snow Owl sometime during Season 4. Ingame the pets are named Artilleriespinne (Artillery Spider) and Schneule (Snowl).
Nowadays he runs Dagger/Axe and Shortbow on a tanky condi build, but his classical build was a longbow/shortbow hybrid. It was the very first build where didn't just click random traits and actually looked at what things did :D. That era ended with Lake Doric where I finally had enough of those projectile reflecting White Mantle Clerics. The weapons are what he carries around in rp context as well.
Also, enjoy his only ever alternate outfits:
The newest of the bunch, at last as far as ingame characters are concerned, is Commander Aluen. She was created alongside my four other co-mmanders because I wanted characters to go through all the early chapters of personal story, as my longer existing Commander Valoop only appears on stage in the fifth chapter.
I decided to set her down the Priory path as well, mostly since I already had two co-mmanders headed for the Vigil and one for Whispers, and since I personally like Whispers less than Priory her path was set before I even really decided who she was as a person.
I had very early on decided that she would don Bercilak's magic armor and I wanted her weapon choice to mimic Diarmid in Verdant Brink and Dragon's Stand, so I made her a warrior. Ironically my least favourite class, and breaking my inteded plan for what classes I would make characters off next.
I don't play her super often, partially because I foolishly made up a story that resulated in her being transformed into a Vinetooth during HoT, something that obviously is hard to show ingame.
hey gw2blr reblog this with your oldest 👴 & newest 🌱 toons i’d like to see em!

3, 7, and 11 for Posh and Aluen! @mystery-salad
3. What parts of themselves do they tend to hide?
Posh: They really try to suppress their enthusiasm for science, scared it would remind people of when they worked with Scarlet.
Aluen: Her everything more or less. She doesn't like people looking at her, or seeing her fight, or hearing her voice. She is afraid that people would see her as the monster she thinks she is.
7. What emotions or situations do they try to avoid? Why?
Posh: People trying to give them credit for research he didn't do alone (which is basically all of it). But to the point where they won't even take credit for stuff they actually did.
Aluen: Really doesn't want to appear angry in any way, again because she is really scared people will realise she is a monster.
11. How do they feel about love?
Posh: Haven't really put any thought into this yet, and will have to think more, sorry.
Aluen: Does not believe herself loveable and vehemently rejects anyone trying to get close to her.

1 & 4 for lugard, 1 & 11 for gekk, 16 for aerana and 45 for aluen
1: What’s the lie your character says most often?
That he doesn't hate Gekk. I mean if he did why did he stay for so long. And how could he hate Gekk that man has done so much for him. He's more father to Lugard than his biological father. So how could he hate him.
4: What’s a hobby they used to have that they miss?
Swimming regularly. The New Kaineng canals aren't as welcoming as the Lion's Arch bay.
1: What’s the lie your character says most often?
Either the common pleasantries he exchanges when working with the other crime bosses (he hates criminals with a passion, why do you think he does all this crime?) or his facade of loving money (he does not care for the money)
11: If someone was impersonating them, what would friends / family ask or do to tell the difference?
Well first of all he doesn't have friends. Second of all his family (aka the gaggle of handraised henchmen) would notice when Gekk would no longer explain in excuciating detail his plans and designs.
16: What kinds of people do they have arguments with in their head?
The Arcane Council, Oola, The High Council of the Gentlemens Gang, Charrlotte
45: What’s something unimportant / frivolous that they hate passionately?
I don't know. I think she is too busy hating herself to care for hating unimportant things.

1. At what point during the story do they meet up?
Aluen and Posh first meet after joining the Priory, Yorg and Valoop first meet after Valoop joins the Vigil (so at the end of the lvl 50 story). Everyone meets each other at the first round of Claw Island.
2. Which of the 3 orders did each one join?
Posh and Aluen join the Priory, Yorg, Valoop and Ruck join the Vigil and Fenquin joins Whispers.
3. Were they all present for Claw Island?
Yes for both rounds.
4. Did they have different responsibilities in the Pact?
Aluen handles strategy, Ruck handles construction and logistics, Posh handles R&D, Fenquin handles intelligence, Yorg handles PR and recruitment. Valoop is the marshall's unhinged friend.
5. Did all of them, only a few, or just one of them go through the dungeon storylines?
Every dungeon is done by at least one of them, but never all at once. Catacombs are done by Ruck, Caudecus' Manor is done by Fenquin and after that it's the commanders corresponding to the Destiny's Edge members involved.
6. Did they chase after Caithe together or was one/were some on the airship with Trahearne during the start of HoT?
The group is very scattered during HoT. Valoop and Posh aren't along for the initial attack, Yorg gets lost and isn't involved in any of the advance on mordremoth. Aluen is with Trahearne and also get's captured. Ruck is with the Ordnance Corps. Fenquin is on Faren's Flier. Posh and Fenquin both start chasing Caithe with Valoop, but they can't keep up with Valoops new magic crystal wings.
7. Did all of them go into Mordremoth's mind? Did an extra NPC get left out or did two still go?
Only Valoop goes into Mordy's mind, everyone else is outside organizing the MoM battle. (She takes Canach and Caithe with her)
8. Who mercy killed Trahearne?
Valoop :,)
9. Did any of them join the Shining Blade?
Fenquin
10. Which one died to Balthazar?
Valoop >:)
11. Are all of them champions of Aurene?
Only Valoop
12. Which one was shot by Bangar?
Valoop.
13. Who was on the airship that crash landed in Cantha?
Valoop
14. How close are they? What do they think of each other?
Valoop tries very hard to not be friends with people, but the others care about jher very much. Aluen tries very hard to hide from the people she considers friends, but they also still care for her. Yorg Ruck Fenquin and Posh are best buddies.
15. Are any of them Aurene-branded?
None (yet. I might change my mind later, I am considering something like that for Fenquin)
16. How effective are they as a team?
Terrifyingly.
17. Are there any that certain members of Dragon's Watch prefer over the others?
Everyone loves Yorg. Yorg is the best.
18. Do they share responsibility at the same time or do they hand it off as needed?
They're all operating simultaneously.
19. If they weren't the commanders, would they still be friend?
With Yorg probably, he is the best. Posh it would depend heavily on when they'd uncommander. Right after season 1 it would probably only Yorg still around for them.
20. Would they pick their co-commander/s over anyone else? Over Tyria's safety?
They are all agressively self sacrificial. They would die for each other, but they would never let someone die to save another commander. They would fight over who would get to jump on a grenade.
#Commander Valoop#Commander Wurmslayer#Commander Steelforge#Commander Posh#Commander Aluen#Commander Fenquin#Co-mmanders#the smileys on the valoops accurately describe the mood after the event.

OK mixed answers for multiple commanders obviously
Valoop was never close to Zojja. After Heart of Thorns she was the one other's had to try hard to get in contact with and by the time she got around to talking to her friends again Zojja had long disappeared
Ruck and Aluen equally were not close to Zojja, and knowing that others were, expected those to look after her.
Yorg was friends with her, and tried to visit as much as she could, but Zojja was more and more actively ignoring and avoiding him.
Fenquin did not visit her while she was in recovery, and only started looking for her when she disappeared. He knows she joined some mysterious group and knows of several appearances throughout the years.
Posh was very close to her ever since she helped them win the Snaff Prize. They had been to the crucible of eternity together. Posh and Zojja had built a bunch of stuff for the pact together, including the MegaLIT Cannon. They regularly visited her during recovery and involved her in their research projects. That did not stop Zojja from eventually disappearing though. Posh tried to find them, but had to break off the unsuccessful search when Krakattorrik started threatening to tear the universe apart

Wait did I ever make a post here about Caladbolg things or was that on discord? I can't find it when searching my blog but also when does one ever.
Anyways all commanders get a piece of the broken sword after HoT. They all go on their own little adventures to reforge it. Fittingly enough there are five reforged caladbolg weapons in the game.
Yorg makes it a greatsword again. Restores it as best he can to it's former glory. It itself is a legend and it is here to tell it's tale. Through it Trahearnes work will not be forgotten.
Posh makes it into a scepter. Caladbolg is an object of powerful magic, fueled by the hands that held it. Through it Trahearnes work can go on.
Ruck makes it into a shield. Caladbolg had been forged to protect Tyria, and now it has been reforged to continue that duty. Through it Trahearnes achievements will endure.
Aluen makes it into sword. Caladbolg had allowed them to drive back the dragon threat and now it will carry that momentum. Through it Trahearnes death can be avenged.
Fenquin makes it into a dagger. Caladbolg had been shattered as a sacrifice. Through it that sacrifice is given power.
Valoop makes it into a seed and plants at her lost friends feet. He had grown in Caladbolgs light and now Caladbolg will grow in his soil. Through it Trahearne will live on.

Screenshots of my characters? On my blog?!
Anyways took these because it amazed me how much sylvari skincolor gets into their armor (This is the twilight arbor heavy armor but is does have the extra colors just like cultural armor). I have not used a single red dye for the actual armor.

I think that would be Grolg the vegetarian Ettin. I don't do much lore breaking so that's the extent of if. Even the reason he stopped eating meat is anchored in canon (he learned bunnies are made of meat, and we all know ettins like bunnies) so I really can't call it breaking the lore. At most I'm dangling my feet off the edge.
Some of the extra canonical bits about him are that I decided the main reason most ettin don't seem really intelligent is that due to having two heads with entirely separate persons inside they spend a huge amount of the cognitive capacity fighting over who gets to control the body. The really strong Ettin are those where either the heads work together or one of the heads isn't controling the body for whatever reason. In Grolgs case the other head (named Greg) had an unfavorable encounter with another Ettin's club.
Thus Grolg has almost free reign over their body, only having to supress frequent spasms which is the source of his speech impediment. Everytime Greg shoots out nonsense commands to their body Grolg has to think a lot more and that brain power has to come from somewhere. He knows people already assume he is not very intelligent based on being who he is and that the way he talks only further strengthens that but to him speech is not really an important function. Also helps him to sort who's worth getting to know and who to ignore based on how they talk to him. He can understand others just fine and has been known to throw people who keep mimicing his way of speaking through the lost precipice's tavern.
Of course a notable lore break is also the people he works for, considering the gentlemens gang's founding event included a dimensional portal to our world where charrlotte grabbed two books (League of extraordinary gentlemen and arsene lupin).
Other than that my other lore breaks are Valoop as a quaggan commander, though the rest of her commander career goes mostly normally, Aluen for keeping Bercilac's armor, Posh for joining Scarlet.
SHARE YOUR LORE-BREAKING GW2 CHARACTERS
We haven't done one of these in a while, and I miss em! Please, jump on here with a reblog and tell me all about your characters that break canon lore! Everyone, as usual, will get a response. Add pictures, ramble for paragraphs and paragraphs! Come play in this space with me and show off your cool-ass characters that stretch the limits of gw2's lore!
#Grolg#I do tend to operate inside canon things. Most of my characters could probably be NPCs#I mean Joplin seems outside of the lore at first but like. we have precedent for death powered golems and ghosts bound to golems.#revanant lore is pretty hard to break since it is very vague#and that's where my most out there characters live i'd say#Also I'm sorry for not adding much to these kinds of posts lately#I don't really feel I have something when they're about gender or sexuality or the like.#because usually for my characters it's not something I have thought about and when it's specified it's because it originated as a joke and#I'm not really comfortable presenting it honestly then.#addendum: it is late and I am dreading to look for typos so I am simply not going to

Thinking about how a few times throughout the story we are put into some form of dream world, mind scape, astral plane, soul world kind of place. And how for the longest time Aluen still appears as her pre transformation self. First in her green armor, then how she ran around shortly after awakening, then how she looked in the dream. She hates how she looks and the longer she lives with it the harder she tries to ignore it.
Also thinking about how uncomfortable that is for the other commanders to see that.

🖊 + aluen
I decided that Aluen knew Diarmid (mostly because Diarmid was part of the inspiration for her) and also was the one that killed her in the DS blighting tower.
She is fighting fiercely in the jungle, it's probably the only time she goes full out. Later she is afraid of showing her full power, she does not want to be any more terrifying than she already is, but in the jungle she feels the need to prove the dragon has no control over her.
The first pact soldiers that find her get to watch as she absolutely demolishes a blighting tree. The mix of grief over all friends already lost, being used to wearing magic armor that made her invincible and the rush of her new gained strength combined into a rampage that carried her arm of the assault.
It was the one time the otherwise cool headed Aluen threw away all considerations of tactics and she feels terrible about it to the present day.
When she fought Diarmid she didn't even realise who it was until after the battle has concluded. She just wanted everything to be over. She kept Diarmid's swords.
#These are getting hard to answer. On the topic of Aluen my mind just goes ''ahhh. The beast is loved but it does not understand it can be.''#I want to yell it in a hundred examples but it gets hard to express#commander aluen#aluen the green

Next up: Commander Aluen
Aluen is sad because Mordremoth turned her into a hideous horrible monster that everyone hates. Do not believe people who say otherwise they're just too scared to tell her the truth.
Before Heart of Thorns Aluen was a simple swordmaster that did not have to worry about defense because she has an armor that makes her invulnerable. Nothing special.
After Heart of Thorns Aluen is like if you crossed Blademaster Diarmid with the Vinetooth Prime á la Faolain and then clad it in Bercilacs green armor. Still almost invulnerable, still a master with the sword but now she is the size of a small house and could bite you in half. She wouldn't bite you in half though, then everyone really would see what a monster she is.
What really is scary about her isn't how big she is. It's how fast she is despite it. If there is a fray in her vicinity, which admittedly doesn't happen often since she prefers sulking in her tent, she charges in not with reckless abandon but with deadly intent. Tactics are her thing and her size gives her an advantageous view of the battlefield. If there is one thing she loved to do the most in her dream it was dancing, and in these situations it shows.

Oh absolutely. There aren't a lot of those cases, mostly because most of my characters are actually quite likely to meet. Since everyone knows at least one Norn and all my norn are a big family that likes to meet up once a year, everyone is a maximum of like, two norn of separation away from each other.
I do however keep my commanders separate from the rest, so there's some interesting encounters that will never happen.
Valoop of course could have some interesting conversations about death with my two experts on thaz topic, Bran and Joplin.
And Aluen would make for an interesting meeting with the gangsters, especially Elirea or Grolg. It wouldn't be an unfitting place for her.
Hey peeps do you ever think about your characters who are extremely unlikely to ever meet, but would in theory have a really interesting dynamic or conversations

[@forsaken-constellation] 🖊🖊🖊 for your newest character? :D (if they don't have enough figured out for you to ramble off of, then your oldest character instead? ♥)
Okay it is really not that easy to say what my newest character is outside of the game, so I am going with Aluen, who is the one I most recently created in the game.
She is scary agile for her size, and while she usually walks on all four she can actually stand up (with a bit of balancing help from her tail) and use her hands. She could rip apart most people with her bare claws or skewer them with heir tale Eir style but she still carries two swords to battle. She does not like her monstrous features so she prefers the swords to her claws. It's what she was good with before HoT.
She is not growing any flowers herself, and while she admires how Caithe looks with Aurene's crystals adorning her she does NOT want even the tiniest bit of yet another dragon's corruption happening to her body. But many of the crystal bloom make jewelry or weave flower wreathes for her because they are sad that Aluen sees herself as horribly ugly. She wears them sometimes. They don't change much about her perception of herself, but it does help her to remember that other people don't see her like that.
With the commander typical buildup of various kinds of magic, her glows has slowly gotten stronger, to the point that by current times it can end up bright enough to slightly illuminate rooms. And with the armor that is now grown onto her it sometimes looks like she is cracking and light is bursting out.

2, 8 & 13 for aluen and ruck and 9 & 19 for lugard (if it isn't too much)
2. Did you design them with any other characters/OCs from their universe in mind?
The Co-mmanders were designed as a set. I wanted to make one commander of each playable race, because Valoop's story obviously leaves out the early chapters of personal story, and those are way too cool to not have characters go through.
8. What (if anything) do you relate to within their character/story
Aluen thinks herself to be a horrible monster that no one would love if they just realized that. Hi. I know that is not true but tell that to my mental eels.
Ruck, especially early on in his story, is deathly afraid of what people will think of him when they find out he is doing magic. Now I am not doing magic but I also have my secrets that I am so fucking scared of getting out.
13. How far past the canon events that take place in their world have you extended their story at all.
Since the co-mmanders were designed explicitly to follow the personal story they don't divulge at all until the living story begins. From there on out, since there aren't any branches to split them up into I get a lot more adventurous with what they do. Aluen of course has her HoT misadventure and later experiences with the Crystal Bloom. Ruck doesn't do anything explicitly non canon, but he and Yorg do many of the side story achievements. Ruck in particular is the one that hatches and raises the Skyscale.
9. Are they based off of you, in some way?
You've hit the bullseye here, since Lugard started out as a self insert character. He has developed into his own character very much, but apart from the looks ge also retained reading books a lot and being a night owl.
19. What's your favourite fact about your OC?
He actually believes the the masks he wears hide his identity when actually everyone knows who he is they are just to scared to start shit with him.
