Im so conflicted

Part of me craves absolute solitude. To cut the people off and grow as tall and as big and as bright as i can. To just learn myself inside and out and experience everything else that comes along with solitude. I feel as though i need that in my life. Like i almost owe it to myself.

But on the other hand, i value my friendships. Ive narrowed it down to 3 majorly valuable friendships 2 great freestyle friends + my Family. (Most would say that alot, especially since they are all very separate friendships) One of my bffs is just too good to let loose but ultimately they are all full of love and support. But it still comes with a side of drama and irritating factors. And I unconsciously give lots of energy to these friendships and show much love and appreciation to them and not enough of that to myself... even tho they encourage me to show the same amount to myself.

These are ultimately great friendships that dont cause too much stress, however its time consuming.

You may know about a tradition in Judaism in which women light and bless candles on Friday night at the dinner table to usher in the Sabbath. This is a deeply meaningful act. It is the female who brings the Light into the home, and it is the female who manifests all the energy and puts it in its place, helping others grow. Women are the nourishers of the world, and as such, we are the messengers of God. Without the vessel, there cannot be Light - it does not exist in a void.

In elementary school, I used to get called out for daydreaming 💭 Not scolded, just a “Hey Kristen, eyes on the board” (Are chalkboards still a thing? 🤣) ・・・ Anywho . . . I’ve always had an active mind, an active imagination. I used to talk 100 miles a minute because I always had so much I wanted to say, so many ideas to share and put out there. I suppose not much has changed 😉 ・・・ But, as I grew older, I also grew quieter. I stopped sharing as much. I focused on my schoolwork, participated in extracurriculars (mostly sports), and kept my head down. And for what? To build a life that was deemed “acceptable” and “successful” in society’s eyes, but strayed SO far from what I‘d always wanted. ・・・ To use my voice to impact others. ・・・ To exchange ideas with likeminded people. ・・・ To be creative. ・・・ To have the freedom each and every day to do the things that light me up. ・・・ My point is this: Do not dim your light to make others feel comfortable. Do not let someone tell you that you’re too loud, too opinionated, too blunt, too “out there”, too whatever. You’re YOU. It’s okay if they don’t understand you. It’s not your job to make them. It never was and it never will be. ・・・ Your job is to be YOU. Unapologetically. Authentically. Wholeheartedly. That’s it. ・・・ So you know what? I’m gonna zone out. Daydream. Speak my mind. Speak it again. Write the books of my heart. Create content that matters. Make mistakes, more than once, because I’m human. Fall in love with my flaws because they help me grow; fall in love with my strengths because they help me achieve. Know that taking time for myself is not selfish. Wear my heart on my sleeve. Love fiercely and tenderly. Look for the good in others, even when I’ve been wronged, because there is always light. I will always, ALWAYS look for the light. And you know what?
