Trying to find Star Wars fanfics to read can be hard, because I have to ask every time whether the story is going to end up being weird about the New Mandalorians, and Satine Kryze in particular

This post just kicked my nerdy nerve, and I will make it everyone's problem. But I'm not a mythology expert and will be rambling BS here, so take it with a mountain of salt.
Scholars have agreed that Hyacinthus is a pre-Hellenic deity with a shrine in Amyclae. And as the theory suggested, he wasn't worshipped alone and had a "wife" or female counterpart.
When the Spartans conquered the town of Amyclae, they introduced their gods to the locals. They replace Hyacinthus' original "wife" with Apollo and fuse them into one cult, worshipping them as Apollo-Hyakinthos (Apollo is a homewrecker who knew)
But who is Hyacinthus' original wife?
There wasn't much information to draw from, but we can study the pattern with the siblings/spouses duo in Greek mythology. Kronos-Rhea and Zeus-Hera are brother and sister AND husband and wife. Even Artemis and Apollo were derived from a married deity couple.
And who is Hyacinthus' most popular sister, one who was probably worshiped in the same shrine as him? Polyboea.
(There are versions where Daphne is Hyacinthus' sister, but I don't use her because she is more well-known as a daughter of a river god.)
So, from this siblings/spouses pattern, it is possible that Polyboea was Hyacinthus' "wife" and female counterpart. They were probably the original patron couple of Amyclae. But when the town became part of Sparta, Apollo took Polyboea as Hyacinthus' partner even when Hyacinthus was watered down into a mortal/demigod hero.
ok I’m so sorry but personifying the theory that Apollo replaced Hyacinthus’ wife in mythos once he gained worship in Amyclae is SO FUNNY. Hyacinthus literally be like *gesturing to this strange, war-torn, intense & VERY VERY TALL man that suddenly appeared* “this is Apollo he ate my wife and is now my wife I love him so much <33” AND HE’S LIKE “yes I am his wife of course I’ve been his wife the whole time why would you say that I love my uhhhh husband so much” (covered in blood. From The War)

Yan!Husband Alexander the Great pretty please? 🥹
❝ 📜 — lady l: here! I hope you like it and forgive me for any mistakes! ❤️
❝tw: possessive behavior, mention of death and toxic relationships.
❝📜pairing: yandere!alexander the great x female!reader.
Tumblr media
Alexander had no thoughts of getting married anytime soon or, according to some sources, getting married at all. The rumors were always varied, some said he didn't want a wife and others went as far as saying he wasn't attracted to women.
This continued for some time until he met you and decided he would take you as his wife. Alexander found himself enchanted by the way you spoke, your smile and the look you had. He knew he would have to become your husband and so he did.
Although his generals were surprised and some even worried about his choice of bride, Alexander was resolute. He fell in love with strength and with an intensity that few could resist, making a point of showing his power and determination.
Alexander's marriage to you was a grand event, worthy of a King who conquered vast territories and accumulated immense power. The ceremony was held with all the pomp and circumstance expected from an event of such magnitude. Alexander wanted the world to know the importance of this union.
The preparation for the wedding was meticulous. From the luxurious costumes, decorated with embroidery and precious stones, to the sumptuous banquet that would be served to the guests. Everything was handpicked to reflect Alexander's greatness and the respect and love he felt for you.
As you exchanged your vows, Alexander spoke with a passion that touched everyone present. He has promised to love, protect, and honor you no matter what adversity may arise. His generals, although still surprised, could not help but feel the impact of that devotion. Any doubts regarding the choice of the bride were put to rest at that moment.
Alexander proved to be a very understanding husband, although authoritarian and possessive. He doesn't like being contradicted and, although he will listen to your opinions and desires, he is unlikely to change his mind when he gets one in his head. But with the right persuasion, he will do what you want.
He will spoil you without scruple, all the best to his Queen. Although, in the beginning at least, Alexander tends to maintain a more spartan style, the same will not apply to you. You will be showered in jewels, the richest fabrics, servants and anything else you could desire. You will have whatever booty you want.
Alexander is extremely possessive and this is very evident in the way he acts around you. He's always close to you when you're together in public, the way he places his hands on your waist, a dark look at anyone who looks at you for too long. He will not tolerate potential rivals in any way.
Quality moments with him are limited to reading, riding horses, bathing together and just exchanging caresses. Alexander, although he won't admit it, enjoys being spoiled by you and will happily accept any kind of affection you are willing to give him. And he will be happy to offer the same. And massages, he loves massaging you.
Alexander is also protective, although not overly so. He will make sure that you always have an escort wherever you go and that you are always fed and happy.
Even if he takes other wives in the future for political reasons, you will always be his favorite and his first. He will always be sure to remind you that you are the one who has his heart.
If anything were to happen to you, no matter how small, all hell would break loose. Alexander can become extremely violent and cruel when necessary and he will have no qualms about killing, maiming, or torturing anyone who poses a threat to you. He will destroy cities for you, kill the men and enslave their inhabitants. All for you.
Alexander's love for you, his wife, has become legendary. He is deeply devoted to you and will do anything you ask. You hold a great deal of power over him, one that he is only too happy to allow. After all, he is as much yours as you are his.

Odysseus POV:
I saw her sitting on the ground, sadness written on her face. The only way I could find her was that Eurylochus was still standing with her, he had told her what had happened on the island. Poletis was always like a brother to her, their friendship went deeper than anyone could see from the outside. Seeing the pain in her face hurt my heart, I had deliberately not woken her up so that she wouldn't insist on coming with me. It was hard for me to let her go to war with me. I had to swear to Penelope, my wife and the loyal lover of (Y/N), that I would look after our guiding star while Penelope stayed on Ithaca with our little son Telemachus. We have been away from our home for several years now, and I was completely lost in memories of the time before we left for war. I met (Y/N) when I was just five years old. She is a princess of a rather unknown island that lives directly between Ithaca and Sparta. When her kingdom fell due to a devastating storm, she was given accommodation with us. When the time came for me to be old enough to get married, I knew two wonderful women that I wanted to have by my side, (Y/N) who I had known for so long and couldn't think of leaving her alone. But on the other hand, my heart beat for Penelope, the Spartan princess. I knew that Penelope and (Y/N) were close, I was just unsure whether they would still be able to look each other in the eye if I married one of them. In the end I married Penelope, but (Y/N) stayed by our side, she loved us just as we loved her, she was our light in the darkness, our guiding star. It got to the point where Penelope and I decided to make her our wife when the war was over, I would love to see her carry my child into the world and give her child the same love as she does with Telemachus. I would have slipped even deeper into the ideas and plans for our future if her quiet crying hadn't dragged me back to reality. I knelt down next to her, and when she looked up at me my world shattered, the pain and sadness in her eyes was unmistakable.

Reader POV:
When I raised my head, I saw a pair of brown eyes. Odysseus knelt down to my eye level, he wiped the tears from my cheek with his thumb, this simple action brought a warm feeling to my chest. It was always like that, he knew exactly how to cheer me up even if it was without words. His presence had something calming for me, with him I didn't have to worry that something would happen to me. I leaned against his body where my head rested on his chest. He whispered calming words to me, declarations of his never-ending love for me and that we would soon be back home. Although his words did me good and calmed me down, I felt the storm coming. After some time passed and Odysseus came back with Aeolus's windbag, I helped Odysseus to look after it. But a period of inattention and tiredness overcoming it happened, Eurylochus opened the bag and ignited the storm that was inside, which drove us into the land of the giants. When we were able to close the bag again and lock the rest of the storm in the bag, something we hadn't expected happened.

The storm that was already raging across the sea swept the waves with it, they beat against the ships of Odysseus' crew. Slowly the waves parted, horses formed from water galloped over the waves until they disappeared together into one place back into the water. Slowly a figure rose from the water, a divine apparition, eyes as deep as the sea itself. In the eyes one could see a raging storm, a storm of anger and hatred, they stared directly at Odysseus. His hair was long, it looked like the waves themselves. His strong body, which many mortals could only dream of, testified to his divinity. A golden laurel wreath adorned his head, his muscular arms were adorned with gold jewelry. When the god raised his voice the sea began to shake, the waves beat harder against the wood of the ships and the storm appeared to become even angrier. "Odysseus of Ithaca!" his mighty voice rang out. "Do you know who I am?" Odysseus stared at the god with great awe and in contrast to the god's voice, his voice sounded weak when he finally uttered the god's name, "Poseidon."
