The compliment draws your gaze down to glance at the graphic on your top, cut-up and worn Fist Pump merch. "Thanks." you respond, voice raised over the natural din of the party. The guy who's been talking you up—said his name is MORDECAI—stands awkwardly tall alongside you, long ringed fingers messing with the rim of his red solo cup. There's an obligation to keep the conversation going, and you're not actually interested, but you ask anyway, "Who do you know here?"

His brows peak in question, and when you sigh with a roll of your eyes he's taken aback by how you don't walk away, instead you lean in. Tentatively, he mirrors you, afraid to make the wrong move as you incline towards his ear, and he lends it to you.

"Who do you know here?" you repeat, and your breath washes over the sheen of sweat on his neck, weighing down the black hair at his nape. It sends a shiver down his spine, and he would've audibly swallowed if not for the loud music. Your body heat radiates onto him, he can feel the sensation of your presence inches away from him, and you're hot—not just in the temperature sense. His jeans hurt.

"Uh," He scans the party until he comes across the unmistakable spotlight of his coworker, shirtless and lassoing said shirt above his head. "Muscle Man." he replies, glancing back at you before realizing how close you are still. His eyes widen and he straightens abruptly, smoothing a hand over his dyed blue hair, and a curl forms to your lips. To avert his eyes, he refocuses on the cocky display of his peer in the center of a circle of partygoers. Muscle Man knows how to entertain a crowd. "D'you know him?"

"Yeah, I'd say so." you reply in a way that pushes Mordecai out of his own mind for a second. Muscle Man also has game.

"Why'd you say it like that? Did you date him or something?" he jokes, scoffing at first. As if Rigby were right next to him, he's expecting some form of banter, momentarily slipping his mind he's in the company of a pretty girl. His lips part, snapping his neck in your direction, anticipating your twisted expression of confusion. Instead, it's the first time your countenance melts into an easy smile, hitting him softly on the arm.

"Shut up, I did not." you tell him, and relief washes over him at his stroke of good luck.

His disbelief at that good luck only grows when later on you lead him to some dark corner of the party by his skinny black tie. Somehow, he'd stumbled his way onto charming you, and he thanks whatever god is smiling down at him for sending him a hot girl that's not afraid to make a move.

"I like your voice." you tell him through heated kisses, using the collar of his white button-up to tug him to you. "Keep talking to me." the command in your sweet voice makes his eyes flutter as he draws his snake bites through his teeth, letting you slot yourself between his neck and shoulder to leave a trail of open-mouthed kisses down.

"What should I say?" he asks, clutching onto your waist to ground himself as your teeth scrape against his pulse point.

"Anything you want." you goad, your nose grazing his sensitive skin. You suck on him, tonguing the reddening spot in your mouth as he goes limp under your touch, head lulling back.

The panic in his chest to get this right urges him to think of something, but his blank mind betrays him. Kneading your flesh in his hands, he presses you to his crotch incidentally, and a deep moan reverberates from low in his throat at the contact. You hum against him, kissing on the tender area you created by your ministrations and he sucks in a breath. "You're hot. You're so hot, I can't believe you're talking to me." he rambles, and he feels you chuckle on him squished this close together. He uses the wall behind you, easing you against it as his hand treads to your hip, dragging your skirt down an inch. The exposed skin against the heel of his palm sets it on fire, and he hopes you can't feel him sweat. Between the heat of this party and bodies melting together, he's still embarrassed. He occupies that nervous energy doing as he's told. "You're way out of my league, no one's gonna believe me when I tell 'em what I'm doing right now."

His pathetic babblings make you grin, and you overlay your hands on his, directing them for him. The strings of your thong lay high over your hipbones, cresting underneath your Fist Pump top. So you show him, curling those long fingers under the strings and his breath hitches in his throat. Standing on your toes, you roll your abdomen to grind on him, demonstrating what you want. Loud guitars grate your ears as you move against him, and his fist forms around the waistline of your panties as if to ground himself again. He's too excited, hard in his pants which you can feel through your clothes, and it encourages you.

A thump sounds next to you, and you glance up at the source. His forehead is stamped against the space next to your head, his eyes squeezed shut in concentration as he humps you. It was your muffled sobbs that caught his attention, Rocky never liked it when you cried because that meant someone hurt you. Tilting his head to the side, he spotted you with your arms wrapped around your knees.

Letting out a few more sniffles, you gave him one last smile as you slipped out from the table. "Wanna grab something to eat?"

"Ha! I'm never one to turn down food, especially when it comes from you." Rocky gave you a wink grasping your hand as he tugged you towards the entrance. He never asked who upset you, he did not have to.

He would always make you feel better again, now he just hopes that the bastard that upsets you likes to walk. Cars are so easily damaged.

Rolling his neck, Mordecai bit back an annoyed grunt as he made his way towards you. You weren't looking at anything in particular but he could see your makeup had run down your face. Fixing his tie, he quickly made his way towards you. While he may bot admit it, Mordecai hated seeing you get upset. He always felt like he couldn't do anything.

"Why are you upset?"

Adverting your gaze, you sniffled as you wrapped your arms around yourself. "I..."

Swallowing you adverted your gaze shaking your head. "I don't want to talk about it."

"Was it him again?" Mordecai didn't have to hear you mutter out yes, he already knew the answer to it. This bastard has been harassing you for a while. "Thought so."

Standing up, Mordecai slipped out his handkerchief as he started to clean off your face. "You shouldn't listen to what that buffoon say's he does not know what he was talking about....he never does."

Leaning into his palm, you gave him a weak smile as you stood up. "Really?"

It was the faintest of smiles, one that he would ever deny but he could not lie to you. "Really, now how about we head out for a walk. I find fresh air really helps clear my mind."

Nodding your head, you slipped out of the chair. You two walking out of the little hut. Keeping his gaze ahead of him, Mordecai knew what he had to do. This was the last time that bastard hurt you.

Mordecai is a pretty laid back partner.

He doesn’t really care much for PDA. It makes him feel kind of weird to do stuff in public. The most he’ll do is wrap an arm around your waist when you have a moment to stand around. 

It’s different behind closed doors however. While he doesn’t engage too much, he really enjoys kisses: the playful, loving kind where he can show you how much he appreciates you.

Mordecai is more charming than people give him credit for. The sweet names he calls you with his gravelly voice is enough to give anybody butterflies.

“Cariño”, “Amor”, “Hermoso/a”, “Handsome/Beautiful”. Kicking my feet and punching the air rn.

He’s not really much of a cuddler because Pandora gets too damn hot for that. In the rare circumstance that the weather in Pandora is manageable, he likes to curl into your back and dangle an arm over you. Alternatively, he doesn’t mind when you rest your head on his chest as you drift off to sleep.

He likes friendly competition. He’s always down to have a snipe-off or see who can take down the most targets. He’ll never say no to your offer of a competition because he thinks you look hot as fuck when you’re shooting.

If Lilith has a job for one of you, you can bet the other one is coming too. You work better together, and she likes having the two of you on her side as a power couple.

Tiny Tina and Brick are CONSTANTLY poking fun at you two. Mordecai gave you a quick peck in front of them one time and they bullied the fuck out of him.

They’re happy for you, but as his friends, it’s their duty to fuck with him as much as possible.

Makes Mordecai’s heart flutter to see you with Bloodwing. It takes her some time to get used to you, but you can buy her love with food. 

Sometimes she’ll even stick closer to you than she does Mordecai. Normally he’d be a little jealous. That’s his bird, damn it. But he likes that his favorite animal and his favorite person get along so well. 

It doesn’t really bother him if you don’t drink, but if you do, he likes when you join him. Sometimes he’ll overdo it and you might need to tend to him and watch over him.

Borderlands 2 spoilers ahead

Mordecai is a wreck after the death of Bloodwing. He becomes much more reclusive, closing himself off from the vault hunters, from the world, from you. He drinks much more than he normally does, getting blackout drunk almost every night. He doesn’t know what to do with himself.

If you choose to stand by him through all of this, you become his rock. You’re the only thing anchoring him down. You’re a warm, safe place for him to nestle down and cry when he’s feeling too much. He clings to your warmth as you wipe his puffy, red eyes and kiss away his tears.

With time, with love, with patience, he’ll learn to heal. But for now, he’s eternally grateful that he has you.

Talon was a blessing. Of course, he would never replace the love Mordecai had for Bloodwing, but it filled the hole in his heart that formed after her death. Talon was a new start for him, the creation of a little family: You, Mordecai, and Talon.

He quit drinking after he got Talon, finding the strength to move on and grow. To be a better man for himself and for you.

-when you had first joined marigold mordecai’s thoughts of you.. weren’t the nicest. he thought you were loud and obnoxious, and overall found you more of a bother than anything else.

-no matter how much he tried to avoid you though, you always seemed to find him. it was like you gained some sort of attachment to him.

-he’s trying to relax? you’re there with him of course. he’s trying to read? of course you’re there. there’s no escaping you and your energetic personality.

-you practically talk his ear off! and sometimes when you get too passionate about whatever your going on about you suddenly just.. jump around with excited noises.

-you also get really grabby whenever you’re too excited. nothing sexual or romantic, just something you seem to do whenever you have pent up energy.

-wether that be from squeezing his arm or tugging him along to wherever you wanted him to go. it was rather.. irritating to say the least.

-but after a while he seems to get used to this behavior, accepting that this is what he woule have to deal with on a daily basis.

-his dislike for your loud and burst of energy/hyper personality became more of a… tolerance. he no longer scowls when he sees you and his fur no longer prickles when your voice gets a little too loud.

-but just because he tolerates you now doesn’t mean you’re safe from his snarky remarks or his somewhat short temper. but that’s fine since you never really seemed to be put off by his closed off personality anyway.

-he’s blunt with you, telling you to shut up if annoyed. does it work? only for about five minutes and then you’re back to talking his ear off.

-on very rare occasions if you’re going into one of your big burst of energies he’ll let you hug him. but only if he’s in a good enough mood, which isn’t that often. he never was a fan of hugs, but he’ll make an exception for you.

-..and despite your hyper moods you’re chatting and overal bouncy attitude sometimes help with taking stress off missions. that is when you’re not required to be quiet. otherwise he’ll tell you to pipe down.

-and having a lot of energy means getting a lot of work done, even if it means you sometimes get distracted.

-overall you’re really not as bad as he first made you out to be, even if sometimes you get on his nerves. you could say you somewhat keep him sane, as ironic as that sounds.

-he could get used to this.

romantic:

-so the romantic version basically starts out the same as the platonic one. he finds you annoying and weird, tries to avoid you but to no avail, etc.

-but when he starts to get used to you (and eventually get into a relationship) he tolerates you a lot more.

-sometimes when you’re going through you’re usually bursts of energy you’ll hug him tight and kiss all over his face. and the weird thing is? he lets you. because for some reason despite his complete opposite personality he’s grown to like you.

-the savoy twins like to tease him about it any chance they get. it annoys him but you’re always there to make him feel better.

-sometimes if he’s having a hard day he’ll let you talk to him about anything while he just lays there, listening to the sound of your voice.

-on particularly hard days he likes to cuddle with you ans maybe read, still letting you talk about your day or what’s on your mind.

-and sometimes you go through these things called ‘cute aggressions’ as you like to call them. it’s basically where you just grab his face and lightly squish his cheeks, beaming and kissing all over his face. he doesn’t understand it but it somehow makes him flustered.

-again you are still not safe from his snarky remarks, but there’s a lot less bite to them now. he’ll often say it with some sort of fondness. whenever you two are alone at least.

-he’ll often find himself staring at you as you ramble on, finding himself a little mesmerized by your beauty. if you catch him you’ll flash him a smile, making him look away with a blush and a grumble.

-overall you’ve become something he can’t live without, even if he doesn’t show it. he relies on you to make his bad days better and he’s come to appreciate the way you’re always sticking around him.

-how could he fall for someone like you? he’ll never know.
