Now don’t get him wrong, Danny was delighted at the idea of Jordan making a friend, he really was. But the last three attempts had been borderline kidnappings, so he wasn’t entirely sure if he should be. Thankfully it doesn’t seem he’s kidnapped this one. Hopefully. 

Not that he wouldn’t be surprised if Dan managed to kidnap a tiny kryptonian, but the kid- Jon apparently- seemed happy enough to be there. Apparently his grandparents lived in the midwest too, and was happy enough to have someone to talk about it. 

Though um, maybe Danny should have checked to see if his parents knew where he’d gone, because he was not expecting a harried-looking superman to suddenly appear at his window.

shipping discourse is so crucial because it encourages people to examine and re-examine their perceptions of female characters. when we actively think about why a ship feels comfortable or uncomfortable, we are less likely to be swayed by patriarchal notions of womanhood disguised as progressive ideals within fandoms.

female-dominated spaces, like many fandoms, are growing more conservative in tone, especially around complex female characters, and there is a growing discomfort with heroines attracted to villains. this trend parallels the conservative impulse to judge a person's morality based on their reading preferences. (a bad, bad thing.)

we are seeing a huge shift towards puritanical ideals of female purity (check out the trad-wifers on tiktok), and it is a rot seeping into fandoms. we have to keep shipping discourse alive. we have to keep talking about female characters and their complicated relationships with themselves, but also with other characters, including their attraction to morally-grey or outright villainous characters. keep asking people to examine and re-examine their perceptions of womanhood. keep them thinking.

we cannot let our fandoms reduce complex female characters and their relationships to simple moral statements. this approach creates a pipeline to conservative radicalisation, where the only shipping discourse allowed is through a tiny patriarchal lens. fandoms are spaces were we should explore, brainstorm, and celebrate female complexity, resisting the urge to flatten characters and their relationships into 'good' or 'bad' based on narrow conservative ideas of female purity.

hiii your flowerbeasts are amazing!! i looove the way you use colours and shapes, and their designs are so special. are there any specific flowers you were inspired by? also i am in no way comparing you to other artists, your art style is unique, i just wanted to tell you in the best way possible that your flowerbeasts somehow reminded me of the animals in paintings by Maria Prymachenko. she was a ukrainian folk art painter, you should check out her works, i’m sure you’ll like it!

i’d say there was light influence from pansies with their rounded edges and robust colour/pattern variations, i’ve always really loved them since childhood alongside their queer history.

my first flowerbeast art was a pansybeast as well so seemed the most logical step for these guys, you can find it under the flowerbeast tag! (my username is also pansybeast on twitter and would have been the same on here but it’s stuck to a dead account 😔)

i’ve seen prymachenko’s art before and really love it, i need to do a good deep dive sometimes.

i don’t mind you mentioning my work reminds you of hers at all, I’m happy to know as I’m quite influenced by eastern european folk art with my paternal side being hungarian! :)

In character is a matter of what it takes for a character to act different. What love and gentleness can you give your blorbo to make them yearn for you? To trust you and open their heart to you? How are you the one that catches their eye? All of these questions can be answered positively.

Expand your horizons. Scrutinize if the world they come from really would have our same beauty standards. Really think if your crush would even care that you have back rolls or acne scars or wrinkles. Then think on what it would take for them to stop seeing the parts of you and instead see the whole, beautiful, wonderful person that you are.

Love can change a person so much. How would it change your f/o?

Can I take a wild swing at your Childhood friends AU?

I've had a few people reach out and ask if they can write stuff about that AU (or just straight up say they're going to take it without asking, haha..) so I'm gonna answer this one publicly as a blanket answer that's basically "yes"!

I don't own the concept of a childhood friends AU and I'm sure I'm not the first person to think about Usopp & Sanji meeting when they were young, so already I don't feel right telling people they can't take inspo from my AU. And also, I'd love to read more people's takes and interpretations on this AU and sanuso in general!

Sometimes I can be precious about my concepts in case I'd like to work them into my own comics/stories but I think this one is fair game! If you take direct inspiration from my work in your fic then I would appreciate credit/a link back, but like I said, I can't really claim ownership over such a broad concept.

Hi! I know this is silly, but after a while of seeing people design their OCs around their own age, I was surprised to see that Jordan was in her 40s (mentioned in that post about her wanting another baby-)

I was mostly surprised bc I thought "omg an older creator" and I lowkey got excited thinking you were the same age as her, but then I read you were still in school 😭

Yeah no I am definitely not like 46.. I just personally do not like huge age gaps and decided to make Jordan 2 years younger than him rather than her be in her 20s, I thought it’d be more interesting and would stand out more as opposed to the regular routine I see with Wesker Oc x Canon.

Genuinely I think my most contraversial take is that the anime only backstory for Mizuki fucking sucks and I hate how fandom took that and ran with it and basically fandomised him as Iruka's abusive ex or just a shitty friend in general because to me his betrayal hits way harder if he genuinely was a decent good dude before that point in his life so it isn't just a shock to Iruka but the village as a whole since absolutely nobody expected it

If you decide that everyone but Iruka noticed his shitty behaviours it just kinda... cheapens the effect of the betrayal, especially since the kids trusted him and looked up to him too. Naruto, for instance, is fucking devastated by everything that happens there. Idk man it just kinda irks me that so many fics jumped on the anime bandwagon of making him a piece of shit from day one when I think there's so much more angst potential in him having been a good friend all of Iruka's life only for this to happen yanno?
