WEEK 1

This week was a productive one. We began learning, rehearsing and slightly perfecting our Midnight Neurosis cover of Feel Good Inc by Gorillaz. We were trying to stick to the original as much as possible but due to having a higher vocal range than the singer from Gorillaz Damon Albarn, we have had to change from Eb to A key.

I have posted a snippet of our mid-week rehearsal to demonstrate our progress, although this was our first full run through so it isn’t perfect. Going completely out of my comfort zone, I am taking on and attempting to rap within this song, which I don’t think is going too badly 😂.  

In this weeks rehearsals we have achieved fulfilling each musical role (using a complete band), successfully learnt each section of the song and put it together. We still need to work on music levels as our lead guitar is louder than anything else which clearly needs to be changed. Furthermore, we need to finalise by doing a couple more run throughs, but we are on track to having two songs prepared for our next deadline. To be more productive we could look at how much time we have to rehearse and structure the rehearsal in order to be more organised and effective.

This week we were not able to have a meeting due to sickness of our drummer (who is the band manager) so we weren’t able to discuss anything. However, I believe that there should’ve been a meeting based on our next song as there are controversial opinions and thoughts of Midnight Neurosis covering this song lol 😬

We are definitely keeping to our initial time plan, having finished one song in this one week and it is looking as if we will have our next song finished by the next deadline, if not slightly earlier - making us above our schedule. We haven’t encountered any problems so far.

As my role is to book venues for our upcoming gig, I have been contacting around to see if there are any available slots in local gig venues. This is becoming a little bit unsuccessful due to the fact that The Basement Door has no slots left in February, and a lot of pubs are being too strict about the “under 18′s in a pub” rule. I am looking to see if we could potentially gig at The Cave in Addlestone, but if not we may have encountered a gig issue there. So therefore this is something that could be going better 😂.

So to conclude, week one has been a successful week and I look forward to updating you all about the upcoming Paramore song we will be covering...
