"Stored Away" (a story idea)

Plot idea Sans au x reader One day when you were cleaning out your old drawer, you found your 2016 old fanart and fanfiction of you and sans being lovey dovely. you made this way back in middle school before you fell out of the fandom, man you were obsessed with this character and that alone made you cringed. You laughed as you made fun of yourself inside your own mind, going through the drawings and writing. Cringing at every word mistake and not very detailed parts like first meeting then straight towards dating? Kid [name] really wanted to go to the part they wanted. Even though you hated your own old writing and drawings, you were charmed by it. It gave the embarrassing feeling yes, but also made you feel nostalgic.. As I said earlier, she's probably the first person you would have talked to once you got to the mansion so befriending her would be super easy compared to the others!

I'm writing something for another ask you made on this that will reveal more about Shanks' made-up mental illness. But no, it only really started after Baterilla. The wires in his brain got crossed wrong somehow, probably due to the immense amount of stress he was under, as well as being basically abandoned by his flock. (Side note: people only really build nests for fledglings or potential courting. I'll give you a guess what traumatic events caused the instinct to get rewired.)

And bad episodes (and I call them bad for a reason) really only start after they acquire Uta. Before that, it was an unusual quirk the captain had; he made fun of it too, and no one really thought anything of it aside from it could get annoying at times. But then they found Uta—and let’s just say her being on the ship caused repressed memories to surface—and the nesting became obsessive, and he eventually had a mental breakdown. That’s when he starts going on medication, at Hongo’s and the rest of crews insistence.

Shanks has a complicated relationship with his former crew (Mihawk doesn’t and wants to stab all of them, except Buggy, but only because he wants to stab Buggy for unrelated reasons). But Roger in hell , he would rather eat glass and take a swim in the calm belt than admit to anyone ever what’s up with him mentally. The crew only knows because they witnessed it firsthand; Mihawk knows because he’s stubborn and wanted to learn about what the meds Shanks was taking were, and Buggy knows because he’s Buggy and deals with his own issues. He can smell mental illness from a mile away.

As someone who deals with OCD and other mental illnesses and has had a mental break or two, this is what I’m drawing on for inspiration for this made up Illness. I also have a friend who deals with manic episodes and will be drawing from their experiences as well. If I write anything descriptive, I will be sure to put a warnings up. And if it doesn’t match your mental illness and your mad about it? idk man chill, people experience mental illnessess differently.

SLK or Spider/Kiri/Lo'ak Headcanons

idk what these will be about tbh i’m just writing as i think of stuff lmao

Kiri had a phase where she was convinced she was a witch because everywhere she went an animal would just waddle up to her

Spider, Lo’ak and Jake talk to babies like they’re grown people, like no baby talk and it’s hilarious

Lo’ak was once holding a baby, and you know how you hold them high in the air and they’re above you? Yea they were having a moment and then the little creature threw up all over his shirt and started giggling right after

“Dude seriously? we were having a moment wtf” it took everything in him not to just drop the baby

Lo’ak would copy everything Jake did as a kid, his lil mini me fr

Lo’ak’s first words were either dad or Teyam

Spider and Lo’ak both have severe anger issues and lord knows what would happen if they ever turned on eachother abt that anger

Lo'ak is always reprimanded about the things he does, gets yelled at and gets in trouble in situations where he isn't truly at fault. Authority figures never let him explain himself and always assume he's lying or trying to makes excuses and they expect him to just take it and move on. He does, but all that annoyance and anger at a situation he can't help tends to come back up a lot.

With Spider on the other hand, adults can never seem to shut up with their backhanded comments,

"you're nicer than i thought you'd be considering your dad"

"Oh wow you're so smart I didn't think you'd get it'

"You look just like him" (in a bad way)

"Oh you're good at this, who would've thought"

All this stuff and he can't really say anything because he'd be proving them right. So he stays silent, doesn't argue back and boy does he hate it.

One time Neytiri made a comment on the wrong day at the wrong time and he honestly considered violence before he just silently walked out of the room. He definitely punches and breaks stuff but he tries to restrain himself which adds to the pent up anger

They've both used that anger on their bullies, Spider broke the guys nose and dislocated his shoulder by pulling it up his back and making him promise to never show his face again

Lo'ak just went straight to the punches, broke the dudes nose and left him slack jawed

So if you ever catch them in a slightly off mood and you even try to talk to them or act any sort of way, you're getting sent to the nurse. I'm sorry i don't make these rules

Kiri is the mediator, she doesn't want to be but she sometimes ends up being the most rational because when she's upset, anger isn't her default unlike the other two

Lo'ak collects comic books, Jake started the obsession and he went wild. Have a comic or manga you wanna borrow? Vintage or not it's probably in his room somewhere

Spider is a math genius, the formulas are just free balling in his head and it makes it easy for him.

He's also a literature enthusiast but has a hard time expressing his own ideas on paper, great public speaker though

Lo'ak definitely over analyzes his favorite characters, gets sad and cries silently abt it

Kiri is an all around science nerd, she goes to class just because she enjoys helping out w hands on science stuff, most of the content isn't new for her

Kiri despises chemistry, she understands it but finds it uninteresting. Ofc biology and botany are where it’s at

All great at physical education, i mean like the actually science behind the body, they have all the muscle names memorized etc

Kiri is their little jewel, Lo’ak especially, he tries to make it the least obvious but Spider definitely tells her how much Lo’ak cherishes her

Spider is very open with his affections, he just doesn’t feel the need to hide it, they live that loves that about him

Spider and Neteyam know how to cook a mean meal, put them in a kitchen together and you’re literally drooling at the smell

Spider is a spicy food enthusiast right along with Jake and Neytiri

Kiri has had a cat for 4 years, Jake has only known for 2 years because he used to be terrified of them and Kiri didn’t want him to freak out

He now carries said cat like it’s his mini purse

What’s the first thing you think about when thinking about the character? It's mostly the same as your answer to this question wrt his story being a really nuanced depiction of parental abuse in fiction, though I also think a lot about how he's the perfect partner for Lopmon writing-wise. I don't think the potentials present in Lopmon's themes of duality have ever been quite as realized in the franchise before he got paired with Shuuji, so yeah... (what I'm trying to say is that his characterization just seems very fine-tuned to Lopmon's lore and I love it)

A childhood headcanon Rich kid Shuuji hc is very strong, so the biggest one is that his parents signed him up for a bunch of high class extracurricular activities mostly for the academic aspirations they had for him. He hated them at first, but eventually he learned to suck it up and just go through the motions, because rebelling resulted in getting berated.

A weird headcanon Uh... not weird probably, but perhaps the most random headcanon I can come up of him is that he can't stand the taste of coffee. He needs it to stay up late for studying though, so he's the type to add too much milk or sugar to his coffee to offset the bitterness.

What do you think is a secret they have that they never told anyone? This is hard... he used to keep a lot of secrets, but he already seems much more laidback and less insecure in Truthful alone? He even readily opened up about his darker thoughts like how much he hated himself or the guilt that haunted him... maybe, while it's freeing for him to stop thinking of what his father wants him to be, deep down he feels more clueless and directionless than when he was still obsessed with following his father's wishes, because he's gotten so used to chasing after the ideals set for him by his father that he kind of forgets how to "want" for himself or have a passion of his own. On top of that, he feels like he's never sure if he makes the right decision with his choices. So TL;DR even though it's stressful, in a way it's easier for him to follow a path someone else has laid out for him than to be "selfish" and do some soul-searching for himself. It's a bitter reality he's never ready to admit because it makes him feel like admitting a defeat right after earning his victory.

(As for Aoi: considering how rigid she can be with her views, I think she's much more judgmental as a person deep down inside than she's willing to admit. She knows how unlikeable that trait is though, so she tries to conceal it, however sometimes it surfaces via her projecting herself on other people)

How do you think they would be as a parent? (and if they are a parent, how do you think they would be if they weren't?) YOU'VE SAID EVERYTHING I WANTED TO SAY ABOUT THIS LOL especially how he'd be especially self-conscious about not wanting to become like his father + being emotionally awkward/distant without meaning to. An extra one is perhaps when he inevitably fights with his child, he'd sometimes slip back into his old behavior and regret it afterwards. Having grown up in a family where he had no chance to air out his problems with them and fight for real, he'd always feel awkward about having to make up with his child, so he'd send Lopmon first to console his child after things calm down before talking to them himself.

FAQ:

What does FF! mean in front of character names? ff! means fanfic! It is for my NPMD rewrite/fanfics which focus on Max's childhood up until he's out of college. I decided to give it its own tag for easy scrolling on my profile if needed and to differentiate CANON Max from my HEADCANON Max, as they are different in my head. Other Characters will also have ff! in front of their name for the same reason- they're completely separate from canon and built off of the little tidbits we barely get for them in NPMD.

Who are James and Richard? These are characters in the ff! world- and Max's family. In the musical, we only get a bit about Max's home life and only get 1 family member, his dad, and how much of a dick he is to Max. Since the fic focuses on Max's life from childhood to around 25, we needed family members for him. His mother hasn't been given a name, and we're not sure if she will have one since shes- uninvolved… in his life. Richard is Max's dad and James is Max's older brother.

You ship Max with multiple people? Why is that? You don't just date one person in your life. In my rewrite, Max and Kyle date for a short time (under six months) before Max dates Richie (Current). This is to explain why Max may be aggressive to Kyle (He was very hurt and holds a grudge like a bitch) It just adds more depth to the characters, rather than having Kyle just be Max's best friend and nothing else.

Do you excuse Max's actions in the musical? Nope! He is horrible and deserves the consequences he got. But I also strongly believe in nurture over nature. You are not born horrible, Max is SEVERELY fucked up and ff! is meant to explore that, not excuse it.

Why is Max and Kyle gay in your writing? He's Bisexual- which most of the fandom leans towards for him from what I have seen. His ship with Grace is cute- but that's obsession, not love. "But he's clearly straight!" Are we looking at the same man? This man kicks his feet when he lays down and asks to cuddle! He does silly dance moves? Mans did an airplane with his arms in Literal Monster, please look again, I know what he is! /lh Kyle does come off as straight, but I'm silly, and he's silly, and I wanted him to be gay,, smiles.

Leon had a bounce in his step that you hadn’t seen in too long. Date night. Circled on the calendar, he’d been counting down the past 48 hours to spend time with his sweetheart. You.

There was something that made the corners of his lips curl up into a smile – a smile he was clearly trying to fight back in front of you. Dating Leon for the past six months had been nothing short of a dream, and you both worked together to get through the roadblocks in the way thanks to the trauma of his past. Lucky enough, you were about as determined as a bulldozer and gladly broke down his walls. Now he was the biggest sweetheart you’d ever set eyes on. So, when you’d told him to pick the next spot for a date, he was absolutely ecstatic. Judging by how quickly he’d blurted out the name now plastered in big neon lights in front of you he already knew just where to go. The whole thing made you giggle.

“I didn’t know you’d be so excited about this.”

“Oh, you have no idea, honey. When I was a teenager I was obsessed with these places, I just never got the chance to go into one. Now that I’m a fully independent adult I can spend as much money as I want on stupid shit. Well, stupid shit and gifts for you.” He grinned at you, taking you by the hand to pull you into the building. “C’mon.”

It was just as you’d pictured it, if not more. Rows upon rows of arcade machines lined with joysticks and overworked buttons from raging teens giving up when they’d clearly lost. Leaderboards filled with names, initials and curse words that definitely didn’t belong on Pacman. A prize corner with everything from poor quality keychains to large stuffed animals at unreasonably high-ticket prices.

You had to admit, you were feeling a little giddy too. Not nearly as much as Leon was, but you were excited to see where this would go. This was your first time in an arcade for a really really  long time.

He was counting out his pocket change and quarters, completely oblivious to how you were staring at him with a large smile, positively smitten. God, how you loved him. This dusty blonde golden retriever boy you’d fallen for with the drop of a hat. You cherished these moments with him, the ones where he looked so genuinely happy, like those past years of darkness and dread had been scrubbed clean by gloved hands. And when those gloves came off, it was from two different sets of hands. His and yours.

After adding up the rest of his money it finally occurred to him that you’d been standing there a little too silently. Turning his head, he caught a good look at you breathing him in completely. Like you were peering straight into his soul, eyes boring into him as a whole. He quirked an eyebrow at you while very clearly fighting back a smile. “What?”

You just giggled, holding his face in your hands. “You’re the most adorable thing I’ve ever seen.”

He rested his hands over yours with his own laugh. You could’ve melted on the spot, that sound put you at such ease. Oh, how you’d love to hold and hug and kiss this man for the rest of your life. You knew Leon was still getting used to letting someone care for him again, hell he was still adjusting to someone wanting to call him adorable. But you were his lighthouse, and you’d gladly guide him back home to your arms whenever he felt lost.

You knew it was hard for Leon to let his guard down. He felt like he had to be the stronger one in the relationship, like it was his duty to keep you safe. But then you showed him that he was allowed to slow down. He was allowed to let someone else keep him safe. But getting to watch him laugh and live like a normal person, to watch him leave behind those times of turmoil even if just for a few hours, it was bliss. Taking in the moles on his face and the curve of his nose as you walked past flashing colours had you seeing your boyfriend in a whole new light.

Yep. Definitely in love. No doubt about that.

Your eyes fell on something that struck its own personal chord.

“No way, House of The Dead 2! I’ve been waiting for this sequel for ages!”

“I have had my fair share of that game in real life, thank you kindly. I’d rather not relive that experience.”

You smiled at him, grabbing at his face again to squish at his cheeks. “Aw, my poor thing.”

He swatted his hands at you, but that didn’t stop him from laughing. “C’mon, cut it out.”

“Oh, does my big strong boyfriend not like when his girlfriend coddles him?”

Taking gentle hold of each wrist, he held your arms out in front of him with a gentle shake. “I’ll whoop you at air hockey if you keep this up.” “You’re on!”

Yeah, that went the way everyone expected to. He whooped your ass. But it was a pretty even playing field. Sure, he could easily beat you in play fighting, forcing you to tap out so he could suffocate you with his cuddles, but you both had little experience with air hockey. Maybe that’s what made you work so well together. Your similarities and differences.

“Babyyy, you’re distracting me.” He dragged out playfully, a grin spreading over his features as he pressed a quick kiss to the side of your hand. “I have to defend my title by winning you that alpaca. These things are about finesse.”

Those things, as a matter of fact, were not about finesse.

That was clear when after spending around 4 dollars’ worth of quarters on the machine, it looked like there was no hope in Leon defending his title. Leaning his head close to yours with his eyes still locked to the glass, his voice fell down to a joking whisper.

“..Do you think they’ll notice if I shake the machine?” You gave one short nod, whispering back. “Most likely.”

“Even a little?”

“Even a little.”

“Damn.”

Turns out they were right about claw machines being a scam. Or at least that one was. You probably should have assumed that, but it was worth a shot either way.

After walking past rows of flashing lights and colour images framed with messages of ‘INSERT COIN’, you decided it was about time you check out the prize corner. True, you had a measly number of tickets, but there was no harm in at least imagining you could score something. It had just about as much as you’d expect, shelves packed with tacky stuffed animals and keychains, those tiny water pistols and rubix cubes. The usual.

Until you heard Leon’s voice.

“Oh no way they have it! I haven’t seen one of these in years.”

There was this joy to it that you couldn’t capture in words, and the grin on his face to accompany such a tone was the cherry on top. That pure look of glee and excitement. What could cause such a reaction?

“What?”

He pointed up towards the shelves. “Top left, 500 tickets.”

There it was. Sealed in a shoddy looking plastic bag was a Spiderman figurine in peak condition.

You smiled, watching how his baby blue eyes locked onto the prize bag like it had descended from heaven itself. “You’re a Spiderman fan?”

“Have been ever since I was a kid. I used to think that Peter Parker was the coolest guy ever. Still kind of do. He had so much responsibility on his shoulders, went through so many trials and still kept fighting for what was right. It felt like they’d made a hero specifically for me. That,” he pointed to the figure. “Looks almost exactly like the one I had as a kid. I lost it when they moved me into the foster home, haven’t seen one of these in ages.”

You felt your smile sadden. Leon’s family history was something you’d learnt about at the end of last month, finding out about how his whole household and potential extended family members had been killed. He’d often open up about his experiences in the system with his head sitting on your chest or in your lap, finding comfort in your fingers playing with his hair. How he fought for his fair share, how he’d learnt to ice down wounds and warm up sore muscles from one of the less aggressive kids there. Like picking open a lock, your hands worked every painful experience from his memory so they could meet with the air around you. He always seemed calmer after talking about it, like an extra tonne had been removed from his guilty conscience.

“Well now we have to win it.”

That seemed to boot him out of his moment, now turning to you stunned. “What?” Why would you say that?

You couldn’t help but puff your chest out a little in pride. Would’ve strut around like a peacock if you had the confidence. No doubt about it, you were gonna score that figurine for your boyfriend. He deserved it, and so much more. “You heard me. Let’s go scavenge for tickets. We’re getting you that figurine.”

“Sweetheart-”

“Nope, too late! I’m already on my way to the whack-a-mole station!”

He couldn’t stop you even if he wanted to, which he secretly didn’t. You were too busy hunting down an arcade machine to jump onto. One of the things he loved most about you was how much you loved him, no matter how self- centred it sounded to anyone else. At first it felt wrong to have someone care for him like this. He’d been hesitant to date so early after splitting with his ex before Raccoon City, but you’d captured his heart with one swoop of your hand. It almost stunned him how easy it was to fall for you. And as he watched you take your fistful of tickets, looking back at him with a determined smile while talking on about what game you’d just ‘kicked ass’ at, he knew he wanted to be with you for the rest of his life. The bright fluorescent lights from the arcade machine brought a rainbow to your skin, you were doing all of this for him.

It went on like that for a while, him watching with a rather amused grin as you practically scurried around the patterned carpet. Counting up how much money you were losing just to get him a figurine. Making loving eye contact with you anytime you turned around to check in on him. How he’d ever gotten so lucky with you was beyond his understanding. He would shower you with everything in the world without even needing a thank you, and yet you were going out of your way to win a simple spiderman toy for pure sentimental value. He’d really hit the jackpot, and he didn’t even have to touch an arcade machine.

From that point on it was a team effort, both of you now pitching in to win that perfect prize. Skee-ball, Cyclone, Slugfest. With the occasional game of Street Fighter in between to keep things interesting. Elbow to elbow, often trying to either psyche the other out so they’d lose or cheer them on to victory. Guess that was the true duality of a relationship.

It was no easy feat, but you’d done it. Handfuls of shoddy paper tickets ripe for redeeming. Once you had your spoils collected you slammed your winnings down onto the counter. Needless to say the minimum-wage worker behind the counter didn’t seem too happy, with an eyeroll so far into the back of their head you thought they’d see their own skull. They let out a sigh when you pointed to the figurine, stepping up onto the ladder to take the plastic package off the lined shelves.

But it was definitely worth it to see the look on Leon’s face. Watching on with big bright eyes, waiting ever so patiently (well, as patient as he could be) for the employee to slide the toy across the glass to you both. He was in pins and needles, hands fuzzy when he picked it up. How could one object hold so much love in it? So many memories he thought he’d buried deep down below sedimentary layers, thick with security. Keeping his heart safe from everything that had happened.

Leon could feel a mist grow over his baby blue eyes as he stared down at the Spiderman figurine. Taking in the decals on the cardboard background, the font of the text. Everything the way he remembered. Just like the one he’d gotten for Christmas as a child.

He looked just about ready to cry.

The smile dropped off your face for a moment, now replaced with a look of concern. Had it not been what he wanted? Had you overstepped some kind of boundary? Was it not what he expected it to be?

“Oh, Leon. I’m sorry, is it not-”

“It’s perfect.” He shook his head, holding the package gently and tucking it into your shared carry bag. Once it was safe and sound he was immediately pulling your body into his, arms wrapped tightly around you with so much love. You could feel it radiating from him, buzzing at a frequency that spread a welcoming warmth through the both of you. Lightning in a cuddly jar. “You’re perfect. I love you so much. So, so much. Thank you, sweetheart. This means so much to me. I love you.”

The admission of love had you melting into a puddle in your boyfriend’s arms. “I love you too, baby.”

You and Leon had won so much more than a plastic toy that day.

Hi, so I've actually taken some time to think about this because I love character analysis and psychiatry used to be a major interest of mine a few years ago, so feel free to skip this but ty for giving me a reason to yap!

Disclaimer to anyone who's reading: I hope I used all of the correct terminology and nothing I wrote came off as stigmatizing, I'm absolutely open to being corrected or having people add their own opinions on the matter.

Some of the conditions I mentioned I actually have first-hand experience with, so there is zero ill intent.

Gale - I've seen theories about him suffering from NPD, but I personally don't buy it.

He may have narcissistic traits, especially the "communal" subtype (e.g the grandiose sense of self is directly tied to being some kind of martyr or saviour of the people), but honestly? That fits Wyll best.

And I'm absolutely NOT claming Wyll has NPD, just to be clear.

As someone else mentioned, Gale grew up as a gifted kid and later had a major burn out phase after his break up with Mystra, so having an inflated ego is nothing too absurd.

We also know he has a shit ton of insecurities, and some of them are a direct result of his past relationship, especially in the social sense: some mild social anxiety sounds like a reasonable guess.

Some people also HC him as autistic, which is often misdiagnosed as social anxiety and might tie nicely into the whole headcanon.

I'm aware neurodivergence is a different can of worms and it might not be the kind analysis we're talking about, but wasn't Gale canonically a child prodigy who could handle magic from a very young age? "Wizarding" includes TONS of reading, so hyperlexia (which is a common autism comorbidity) could also be worth looking into.

While mental health and neurodivergence are two distinct topics, being neurodivergent has a major impact on your self esteem and how you relate to the world.

Especially if it's undiagnosed, and of course it is, because there are no words in this setting to express the concept.

Gale being a brilliant, gifted kid and an exceptionally smart scholar while also feeling inadequate, awkward and out of place sounds like the average neurodivergent experience.

Some people argue he's suffering from depression, which is understandable given how brooding he seems to be through the game, but his ex literally put a bomb in his chest and doomed him to die.

I wouldn't judge his mood stability by the events of the game, rather on how he does when he doesn't have a bomb in his chest, which would get quite a few people down even in our world.

Most people experience depressive episodes due to environmental circumstances (e.g losing a job, the end of a relationship, grief) despite not suffering from a mood disorder, which might be his case.

Having said that, I encourage any Galemancer to add their two cents.

Astarion - He's an interesting one, and we have many different fanon theories.

I absolutely agree with anyone who says he's suffering from C-PTSD.

C-PSTD develops after long time and/or repeated trauma, and textbook examples fit his experience to a T (e.g the inability to escape, living in an abusive environment, the traumatic event lasting literal centuries)

C-PTSD has a lot of symptoms and presentations, so we could leave it at that, but it also has a lot of comorbidities.

This goes without saying, but he's obviously suffering from hypersexuality as a result of sexual trauma, which is a symptom in many traumagenic disorders.

Some people hypothize BPD, which is possible and I won't deny he does have some BPD traits (e.g black and white thinking, impulsive behaviour, paranoia, volatile mood, unstable relationships) but I feel like these are heavily tied to his current circumstances and are too vague to qualify for a diagnosis.

These symptoms are also common in every other Cluster B disorder.

I find NPD much more likely, especially the somatic subtype, which has the "subject" (for a lack of a better term) be obsessed with their own physical appearance – which we know Astarion is, especially since he stopped being able to see his reflection.

Let's take a look at textbook NPD symptoms:

• Sense of self importance and entitlement

• Preoccupation with beauty, power and success

• Interpersonally exploitative behaviour for their own gain

• Arrogance

• Lack of empathy OR highly selective empathy

• Compulsive need to be complimented/admired/positively validated

• Deep seated, internalized feelings of shame and paranoia

• Envy towards others and/or a firm belief in being envied by others

Now, that sounds much more Astarion to me, while also retaining the previous symptoms.

I would personally write off ASPD too, as ASPD's sense of grandiosity typically doesn't need constant validation, if a comorbidity with NPD isn't present.

And now, let's look at an interesting one! HPD:

• Constant attention seeking

• Feeling uncomfortable in situations where they aren't the center of attention

• Overly seductive, theatrical or provocative behaviour

• Showing emotions that appear to be shallow and/or change rapidly

• Speaking in hyperboles

• Being easily influenced by others

HPD and NPD are believed to be opposites, since NPD constantly seeks positive attention and HPD will gladly accept any kind of attention, but they're actually a common comorbidity.

One often presents itself as the "main" disorder, iirc, but they can coexist and they probably do in Astarion, at least imo.

There's also a theory about him suffering from the vampiric variant of an eating disorder: a mixture of anorexic behaviour (e.g starving himself in the shadow cursed lands due to the scarcity of living creatures to drink from) and binge eating (e.g draining the MC if they don't stop him during the bite scene, drinking an entire bear in the underdark).

EDs are common in both people with NPD, HPD and C-PTSD – which makes a lot of sense.

I wouldn't consider it a big part of my headcanon for him, but I do think it's plausible.

Durge - I'm honestly afraid of what could come out of this analysis.

First of all, let's look at common theories: I've seen someone mention schizo-affective disorder, DID and psychopathy in the comments.

Which are all very interesting and I'm glad they brought them up, because it helped me develop my own theories.

Schizo-affective disorder and DID are directly related to the urge, which I consider somewhat of an external force.

It influences him, but it's more of an environmental factor imo, so I don't really take it into account.

Though I'm not going to lie, given his age when Bhaal first took over and the amount of trauma he's been through, he was a perfect candidate for developing DID as a kid.

Psychopathy, on the other hand, is worth looking into.

It's technically labeled under "ASPD", which is short for Antisocial Personality Disorder and can be loosely split into sociopathy and psychopathy.

As far as I know, sociopathy is traumagenic and psychopathy is genetic, though these definitions change as psychiatry progresses.

Now, can Durge be considered psychopathic from a genetic point of view, since he's literally made of Bhaal's blood?

If the lore doesn't fail me, Durge starts off as a regular child in spite of his bloodline, and only started manifesting murderous behaviour after getting roped in the cult via the Urge pushing him to slaughter his foster family.

There have been many (futile) attempts at resisting, such as the whole paladin thing you discover when playing an Oathbreaker!Durge, and stuff like the "giving gold to the homeless" episode Sceleritas Fel mentions.

It seems like it took quite a bit of convincing and "forcibly shoving [Durge] into religious submission" to get him to comply with the Urge, so I wouldn't say antisocial behaviour is innate to him.

ASPD is basically a given at this point, but I lean more towards sociopathy (a "learned" trauma response) rather than psychopathy.

Weirdly enough, I've never seen anyone mention NPD given he does have a God complex, but is it really a God complex if you are an actual demigod?

However I had to scrap this theory myself, because grandiosity is not exclusive to NPD (it is quite common in ASPD), and there isn't a lot of "admiration seeking" behaviour on his part given the little canon info we have.

Except towards his Father.

So we do see a desperate struggle for validation, but it's not a "worship me" issue, rather a "forgive/accept me" one.

The constant search for confirmation of someone's love, longing for the absolute certainty they're not going to "abandon" you or reject you, and frequent feelings of dread over the smallest doubt – are closer to BPD than any other disorder we previously mentioned.

Now, we're talking about an evil cult, so this kind of relationship between a faithful and their God isn't unheard of.

What makes it so different? The fact that the God I mentioned is actually his father.

And not only that, but a father who literally abandoned him at birth and later slaughtered his adoptive family, while justifying it as a demonstration of love and a test of faith.

I find it horrifying how, throught the game, Sceleritas Fel reminds you of how much Bhaal "loves" Durge as an excuse for the acts he forces him to commit.

Kill Isobel? Well done, Father loves you and got you a gift!

Reject Bhaal? Bhaal guilt trips you, accuses you of being ungrateful and reminds you of "everything he's done for [Durge]".

This kind of twisted, parasocial relationship is exclusive to Bhaal and his literal son.

He wouldn't do this for any other faithful, and Orin is living proof of that.

Speaking of Orin, we can clearly see how much she despises Durge and openly threatens him in her letters, compared to the oddly paternal way he addresses her.

The way Durge refers to her as a "little sister" in his letters, then proceeds to harshly criticize her and tear apart her entire worldview, is VERY telling and also deeply disturbing.

At the same time, the narrator implies Orin was able to attack Durge because he didn't believe she would ever do such a thing, and the whole thing is canonically referred to as a "betrayal".

My brother in Christ, take off the idealization glasses, she literally TOLD you she wanted to kill you.

Not to mention the ambivalence in his how he describes Gortash in his letters, switching between admiring his genius and referring to him as a "supposed chosen", highlighting how laughable and squalid Gortash looks in Durge's eyes.

I won't go in depth about the textbook symptoms of ASPD because it's pretty self explanatory in his case, however I will go in depth about textbook BPD:

• Feelings of emptiness (the narrator puts major emphasis on this during his Origin run)

• Emotional instability

• Paranoia and disturbed patterns of thinking

• Impulsivity

• Difficulty controlling anger

• Intense but unstable relationships (Orin, Gortash, Bhaal himself, the fact Ketheric Thorm dislikes Durge and no actual reason is given for this in-game)

• Frantic idealization and demonization of loved ones and people in general, also known as "splitting" ^

• Desperate attempts to prevent real or imagined abandonment

• Subconsciously choosing a specific person to latch onto and direct the majority of symptoms towards, also known as "favourite person" – usually a romantic partner, close friendship or a family member. One can latch onto more than one FP, though it's less common ^

• Unstable self image (ranges from self idealization to violent self hatred) and internalized feelings of shame/failure – which the narrator, his character intro AND the letters clearly show.

Needless to say, ASPD and BPD are an extremely common comorbidity.

The amnesia MIGHT be enough to spare him C-PTSD, at the very least.

But that's it.

I'm done yapping.

I would love to see a psychiatrist or something do a psychoanalysis on Gale, Astarion, and Durge. What disorders burden thee?

Basta's got the disorganized attachement style!

-a small rant

soo...I've partaken in a course about attachement styles, and I've come to the conclusion, that Basta probably got the disorganized/anxious attachement style

so, here's some of the information I've learned on the disorganized attachement style + my personal headcanons on how it shows in his personality and his relationships/way of dealing with others

DISCLAIMER: English is not my first language, errors might arise, also, I'm no professional on the matter, feel free to correct me or add your own thoughts!

How does the disorganized/anxious attachment style form?

this attachement style forms, when a child experiences (mainly/solely) abuse and neglect by their primary caretaker (for example, when the parents/the mother suffer/s from mental ilness [anxiety, depression, dissoziative disorder, etc.] alcoholism, unprocessed grief or being abused themselves)

->so the child doesn't experience the kind of bond it should have with their caretaker, its craving/need for safety and relationship stays unfullfilled, instead it experiences hurt and trauma and is conditioned to believe that this is normal

while I've seen many headcanons imagining that Basta's trauma stems from his abusive father, I actually imagine his mother being at fault:

I imagine that her husband/Bastas father died [maybe he was a soldier and died in battle, that would explain Basta's craving for a father, because his own was always away] and she couldn't cope with it, which has driven her into alcoholism which (paired with the overwhelm of being a young mother) made her neglect her small child, at other times she'd be short tempered because of intoxication and beat him up because he wouldn't stop crying and bothering her

Basta's unfullfilled desire of being loved by his mother later turned into his obsession of being loved by a woman (as seen in him constantly hitting on the maids in Capricorn's village, relentlessly trying to be liked [e.g. starting to chew mint leaves so he won't have bad breath like this one girl once told him when he was being vulnerable and tried to kiss her- like??! can I have a turn if she's too sensitive??] his obsession with Roxane, etc)

I also imagine his mother suffering from anxiety and clinging to superstitious rituals (good luck charms, avoiding bad omens, etc), that's where Basta got his superstitiouns from

Symptoms/ways in which this attachement style shows

very characteristic for this attachement style is the fact, that the person craves intimate and loving relationships, but they're scared of them because they expect to be hurt and abandoned at some point (because that's what they've learned relationships are like), which is why they tend to sabotage the relationship themselves and end bonds prematurely- in order to avoid being hurt, they want to have the control

people with this attachement style also tend to distrust others by default, they prefer to keep a distance and won't let people get too close to them, again, they want to have the upper hand and need to control how vulnerable they are

if they do have some kind of relationship with another person, they always question their true feelings and doubt that they truly like/love them (even if the person shows no signs of dislike whatsoever)

also they tend to think that every action of another person is somehow related to them, they (mis-)interpret the behavioir of others and believe them to be hostile towards them (even some innocent accident can be seen as a personal attack)

there can also be signs of lowered cognitive functioning, problems concentrating, lowered tolerance to frustration and heightened stress levels

so, how does this fear of being hurt line up with Basta's obsessive relationship with Capricorn, even though the latter isn't being all to nice to him?

someone who is desperate for any kind of attention and bonding doesn't have high standards, so even negative attention is an improvement to not being seen and interacted with at all

my headcanon: after Basta's mother died [some totally preventable accident, like a fall to the head due to the intoxication], he was all alone on their little farm, left to fend for himself, until one day Capricorn's men came to scalvage, just that they barely found anything usable except for this starving child, which they put into their black bag and dragged before their master, who decided to make use of that small boy, the rest is history

soo, since Basta is craving for (female) attention, he's getting crushes pretty easily, but he couldn't word out why he likes this person - because he doesn't actually like them, he just sees what they could give him: the love and safety he never got from his mother, what he is liking is not the person, but the fact that they could fullfill his needs, the use they could be to him (ofc, this is only subconciously, what he believes to be love is actually his survival instincts, trying to fill out his social needs)

if one of the girls he's flirting with would actually engage, his inner warning bells would flare up, which would result in him distancing himself in no-time (and the girl being confused af)

or maybe he would even start getting closer to the girl, but his constant distrust and accusations against her (like accusing her of being unfaithful or claiming she's just pretending to like him to gain some kind of advantage) would really damage their relationship and result in driving her away

so yeah... it would take a lot of time, patience and energy for someone to get through to Basta to the point, that they can live in relative harmony

the following hcs have arisen in my AU, where I ship Basta with my OC Zera (she's trapped in the village like the maids, but her job isn't chores, she used to work as a paramedic, so she was chosen by Capricorn to be the village doctor, most days she doesn't do much but patch up some cuts and scratches)

when Basta starts to crush on her, she engages in his flirting because she hopes to get to a better position with more freedom by dating him BUT she didn't consider Basta's brain stopping to work when he experiences positive and friendly interaction for the first time

it's scaring him a lot, but he can't help but be curious, he's starting to make up excuses to see her, most of them being medical-related (like cutting himself on purpose, claiming it was an accident and having her patch him up [that sneaky bastard feeds on those soft and brief touches, when Zera is putting band aids or bandages on him, checks his skin tissue or cleans a wound] )

-Zera sees right through him, no one can be this clumsy, at one point he comes to her daily, she let's it pass without calling him out on it, because at this point, she's already suspecting that he is just craving touch and company (that's when she slowly starts to actually care for him- she realizes that, as awful a person he may be, he's just a human [well, as human as a fictional character can be] with a lot of problems)

Basta starts to get extremly jealous whenever Zera is giving attention to anyone but him (even though they're nothing official [yet])

he's also mocking everyone, who comes to see Zera for treatment, for being 'sensitive' (but heaven forbid if anyone calls him out on his daily visits to have his band aid renewed or his sore neck checked out)

there's stuff happening in between, but at one point later in the story, one of the blackjackets stirs things up by telling Basta that Zera's just being nice to him to get herself an easier life, Basta confronts her and she does admit that, in the beginning she was leading him on for selfish reasons, but that she's grown to know and like him

-but Basta doesn't even properly listen to that last part, he gets furious and almost hurts her in his rage, but he retreats and stays out of her way from this point on, all attempts to get him to talk and listen to her fail

until Basta and some other blackjackets have to deal with some rebelling local famers and get caught in the crossfire

Basta gets shot in the arm and Zera has to treat him (but not without a fuss, even in this state, he is putting up a fight, she's deescalating the situation by retreating with him to a seperate room while the other maids take care of any other injured men)

that's when Basta has to expose his burnt arms (the shot wound itself isn't that bad, but the fact that he has to reveal his horribly scarred arms while he's been trying to hide them all these years is traumatizing)

and Zera can sense how uncomfortable he is, so she's not making much fuzz about it and just focuses on treating the wound while making the situation as comfortable as possible for him (locking the door so no one barges in, working under a cover, getting him to talk and making stupid jokes [not that Basta is in a mood for a laugh, but it helps lighten the mood])

she settles down on an armchair across his bed after she tucked him in, and in the cover of the darkness, they have a real heart-to-heart and Zera can convince him that she does in fact love him and that she doesn't care about his scars (which she proves by kissing down the lenghth of his bare arms

and after that, they develop a somewhat stable relationship, sure, Zera still has to reassure him a lot and treat him like the attention starved baby he is (someone on here stated it before: Basta needs all the five love languages), but they start to grow together and learn to manage each other

If the portal is the cause of the ghost attacks (or if it increases ghost attacks) then why doesn't anyone turn it off or put more safeguards on it? Especially with Danny's obsession being protection in most headcanons, wouldn't that be everyone's first move?

This is the biggest plot hole in the entire series.

Various fixes (needless to say, Phantom Planet doesn't exist):

The portal can't be turned off.

The portal can't be turned off because it'll explode if you try.

The portal can be turned off, but it doesn't matter because it screwed with reality badly enough for natural portals to form frequently in Amity Park.

If the Fentons made a ghost version of CAPTCHA to mass screen Amity Park citizens for ghosts would Danny pass or fail the test?

I’ve spent half an hour thinking about this, and considering how often I, a human, fail various CAPTCHA or ‘write what this image says’ tests, I have to image that at least a thousand people fail the untested ghost CAPTCHA and are then hunted for sport by the Fentons until they’re finally convinced that they aren’t ghosts by Jack failing the CAPTCHA.  

Danny gets Jazz to do it for him.

Prompt: People now know that Danny Fenton is a ghost/half-ghost, but not that he’s Phantom. People assume that Danny is a fairly weak ghost. People are about to be proven very, very wrong.

"So," asked Mikey, "have you ever been to the Ghost Zone?"

"We've all been to the Ghost Zone," said Danny, raising an eyebrow. "The whole town was sucked in, remember?"

"That doesn't count," said Mikey. "We stayed in town the whole time. We didn't go anywhere."

Danny sighed and put down his sandwich. This was going to be another Q&A session. "Yes, I've been to the Ghost Zone."

"Is it scary there?" asked Star, leaning in.

Danny leaned back, and Sam and Tucker nudged him with their elbows, a silent promise to back him up if he wanted to run for it. He'd been outed as a half-ghost a week ago, thanks to one of his parents' inventions, not long enough for the novelty to wear off. He wasn't, quite, popular, but by some strange alchemy of social pressures and the local fascination with ghosts, he wasn't a complete outcast anymore, either.

"I mean, it is full of ghosts and there are some dangerous spots, but... Not really. It can actually be calming to float there."

"You can float?" asked Mikey, eagerly.

"Yes...?" said Danny.

"Do you have any friends there?" asked Star.

"Yeah!" said Danny, distracted from Mikey apparently not knowing he could fly. "A bunch! Most of the ghosts that come here are the really aggressive ones who are looking for a fight. But most ghosts in the GZ just want to be left alone to do their own thing, really, just like humans."

"What are they like?" asked Star. "Have you met any cool people?"

"Hah!" shouted Dash, who was passing by. "Fenton couldn't meet cool people if it killed him!"

"Wow," drawled Danny, resting his cheek on his fist. "What does that say about you, I wonder?"

"Huh?"

"Never change, Dash?"

"What's that supposed to mean?"

The bell rang. Danny sighed. Time for class, he supposed. He shoved the rest of his sandwich into his mouth.

"That's gross, Danny," said Sam.

Danny shrugged in response, mouth too full to properly respond. They walked out into the courtyard.

Then Danny's ghost sense went off, an interesting sensation with a full mouth. He swallowed.

"Great," he said. "Hey, everyone! There's about to be a ghost attack! Or, at least, a ghost will be here. Soon."

"Wait, is that how you always run off right before there's a ghost attack?" asked Mikey.

"I'm not exactly running off-"

"Alright, everyone evacuate!" said Mr. Lancer, who had been the lunch monitor today. "You know your plans! And you can come with us for once, Mr. Fenton."

"But I've got to fight the ghost?" said Danny gesturing.

"I know you have a few special abilities from your condition, but this really isn't the time," said Mr. Lancer.

Danny stared as other students ran from the courtyard. "Okay, what? I feel like we're missing something here. A few powers?"

"Today will be the day, whelp!"

Shaking off the strangeness, Danny turned to his enemy. And transformed. Because why not? Everyone knew he was half-ghost, now.

"Are you seriously telling me that no one knew I was Phantom? It's been a week."

"We know," said Principal Ishiyama, tiredly.

"And you're telling me the school was okay with me being half-ghost, but they're drawing the line at me being Phantom."

"Well, we obviously had a very different conception of what half-ghost meant," said Principal Ishiyama, rubbing her temples, "and you aren't expelled or suspended or anything. Just. We feel like it would be better for you to go home early today. For us all to... process. Besides, your... life? Your life was threatened by a dangerous ghost today."

"He does that once a week," said Danny, unamused.

"Still. You can come back on Monday. Please."

The office door slammed open, revealing Jack and Maddie.

"YOU'RE PHANTOM?"

"How did you guys also miss that?"

Sunday mornings with Jake were definitely your favorites, without any doubt. Sleeping next to the love of your life and then the first thing you see when you wake up, is his handsome face smiling softly at you? There's no other place you would rather be than staying in bed with Jake

During the week, Jake has to leave very early because of his work, so you don't get the opportunity to wake up next to him he never forgets to give you a goodbye kiss. That's why you love and value sunday mornings so dearly, since he can spend more time with you. And believe when I say he does everything to make up for the time he couldn't love you like you both wanted

Sometimes you even get terrified, because when you open your eyes, he's not there. You immediately think "is it sunday today?", only for him to suddenly enter your room with your favorite breakfast on a tray, accompanied with your best friend: coffee, obviously

"Good morning, sunshine! Did you really think I had run away from you?" his grin showed that his intention was to scare you, so that your reaction to his generous, romantic gesture would be greater

"Wow, I-"

"Speechless? I understand, I would have the same reaction if I saw my sexy half-naked girlfriend bringing me the most delicious breakfast to bed." he winked, leaving you with red cheeks and a starving stomach

"You really like to brag, don't you?"

"Me?? I'm just being honest!" you would laugh in sync, a sound that none of you would ever get tired of. "Here. I know my princess loves coffee."

"Thank you babe, you're the best." he loved seeing you smile, and knowing he was the reason of it? It made his heart go wild with pride and happiness. He then would quickly leave the room to bring his own breakfast, joining you right after

Once he returns, you both would chat about your week, your problems, random subjects, while eating the most delicious breakfast. It's not a secret that Jake is a great cooker, and you would make sure to remind him that every time, making him blush at your genuine words, like he does to you every time he compliments you which is all the time, and you still didn't get used to it

He was your best friend, your best boyfriend, your best human being. Every second spent with him were the best seconds of your life, and you couldn't be more grateful for having such a beautiful person, inside and out, by your side

Another times, when you both feel really tired, you would just relax into each other's embrace. Even if you were already awake, you both would just stay there, sharing a comfortable silence, while being interlaced on each other's bodies until one of you had the minimum energy to open your eyes and get up. On those days, you would shower together and then go to your favorite coffee shop to eat breakfast. After that, since your energy increased, Jake would get his car and drive you to new places, to do new things you haven't done before, or do it a little differently so you don't get stuck in the routine

One of your favorite things about mornings with Jake, is when he reads a book that you or him found interesting, or when he gets obsessed with a song and sing it to you. That's the most peaceful, cute and inspiring way to wake up, according to you both

In the winter, you two would snuggle more than ever, to the point you could swear that your bodies became only one from how close you are. And in the summer... well, since you prefer sleeping naked (and if you were in the mood), morning sex is always guaranteed those mornings were definitely your favorites, ya can't deny it darling

And well, there are also some special days when none of you leaves the bed, too lazy to do something, even have breakfast. That's when your best friend, aka Fluffy Leo, wakes both of you with wet kisses and excited jumps on top of you

"Come one Leo, let us sleep!" Jake would say to his doggie, only for him to whine uncontrollably for lack of attention and affection

"Babe, don't be like that! Come here sweetie." you would extend both of your arms, giving all the attention that your giant puppy needed, which made him even more excited than before. You would give him hugs and kisses all over is face, and Leo would gladly return them to you with the same amount of love and joy

After a few moments of "hearing" a tense silence from your boyfriend, you would turn to him and see that he was deadly staring at both of you

"What?" you stopped petting Leo for a moment

Jake wouldn't give you a straight answer, just lean in the bed with his arm under his head, staring at the ceiling

You thought of all possibilities and valued reasons that explained your boyfriend's grumpy behavior, until you thought at the one that made more sense to you, even if it was still childish

"Jacob, are you jealous?" you tried to contained your laugh once he looked at you with an angry, yet ashamed expression

"What? Absolutely not!" he became defensive, realizing that you discovered the ridiculous truth

"Then why are you with that grumpy expression planted on your face?" you crossed your arms and frowned at him, while Leo just sat there confused

"I-I just..."

"Jealous, right." you tried to act serious, but the situation was way too hilarious, so you were hardly struggling against your own laugh

"I just... want to spend the morning with you, ok? Leo could have waited a few more minutes..." he felt guilty with the situation, since he obviously loved Leo with all of his big heart, however his plans where staying with you in bed all morning, and now they were completely thrown away

"Hey." you grabbed his face gently and made him look at you. "We can take a shower together, if you want." this time, his snappy face was completely gone, only to be replaced by a grin bigger than his precious heart

"Sounds like a plan." he kissed you, picking you up in bridal style while heading you to the bathroom, to take a hot and relaxing shower with you

If someone asked you: "what are your favorite moments with Jake?", you wouldn't think twice about the obvious answer: Jakey mornings

You write the best Wilbur, nsfw or otherwise, I have ever read. You get his near-do-well, but a bit too fucked in the head to ever stick with doing well, self-absorbed and sabotaging with the right amount of softness personality. I'm always shocked by how good your voice is for him. What do you find appealing about Wilbur? What's your favorite pov of his you've written?

I don't know why Wil was the most interesting thing I'd ever seen sliced bread, but I think it's the fact I really relate to the storyline of S2 Pgtopia. It was the self destruction, the obsessions, the paranoia and delusions that really hit home.

The most appealing thing and why I default choose his POV is Wil is either painfully aware or purposely ignorant, and then his character seems really well designed to use as a mirror or foil to either another character's flaws/poor ideals or to a system/structure's poor ideas. He stands opposed, yet hypocritically involved. Wil's the corn starch in recipes; add him to thicken the plot.

My favorite POV of his I wrote is probably a toss-up between first D-smp fic series Toxic Tango becuase even though I've changed lots of my headcanons now, I still like some of the ideas there and that's where I actually started to really invest in Wil being more f'd up of a character.

Or any of the extended D-smp AU--like Trading Metaphorical Blows-- CABA and I talk about where Wil is constantly at odds with his partners, usually due to his either own insecurities and fears, stubborn refusal or spite. It's always fun to have random ass ideas like "Wil would eat a mutated sardine off the floor of Q's casino rather than take Q's offer of free food even if he ends up with severe food poisoning."

Though I sometimes feel haven't given Wil a story where he's an active thing to reckon with. I always undercut him. Partly because I just enjoy the "oh I f'd up" trope too much.

- Danni: I don't like her, or the entire clone saga. Very messed up in my opinion, and That Is An Achievement. She doesn't have her own identity outside of being a clone, a spare fighter, and a ripoff. I find that rather sad. Heck, she doesn't even have her own name or outfit, and that's super important in my eyes.

I'm aware she was created as a result of Vlad's obsession in Danny's image, but you can't dissuade me that she wouldn't immediately reject that identity. Especially when she runs away from Vlad and lives as an urchin. Because that is Fucked Up and Incredibly Traumatic. How is she not harbouring more resentment of Danny too?? (I do need to re-watch to see if I can find any tidbits on why tho so like, feel free to inform me lmao)

- Vlad: I despise him. He is a creep, he is outright evil, and he is irredeemable in my eyes. Mostly because I read a fic recc'd to me by a friend who was like 'look, it reminds me of your character!' (wrong btw, very very wrong (well ok yes by concept my character and danno are similar BUT, not at all in this concept)) before I knew what DP was, and uh, he did Some Stuff that Shan't be Spoken of, and it repulsed me. Still does. Once again, Vlad could've been written a lot better in the show, ground his insanity, but I will never like him. (If you wanna know which fic, feel free to ask, but make sure you're 18 or older -grimaces-)

- Trans!Danny: ((Disclaimer: Trans people are fine, hella mad respect for them for working so hard through so many hardships to be their true selves and be happy, I wish them all good fortune and health!))

For the headcanon, I personally don't think it adds anything. Sure DP makes a very effective metaphor for being lgbtqia+ in a hostile environment, but I don't think it applies only to trans people, because if Danny is (canonically speaking), his parents already must respect and accept him for who he is, as he's only shown in the show as male, even around his parents (altho the only viable clone being female, and hiding a huge part of your identity are valid supporting arguments).

That said, I think it could be executed well and properly in an au-fic of some description, but I personally am not interested in that.

But I think the metaphor can also apply to other things. I have heard, from my parents' own lips, that there is something wrong with ace ppl and worse, and heard ND ppl be called freaks and weirdos and are to be avoided. To make this very clear, I am ace. I have anxiety, I needed the weighted blamket I bought, and that's what I was met with when I explained what it was. Needless to say, I did not elaborate on why I wanted it.

There is so much more to the metaphor of this show, and narrowing it to one group shuts out many many others who can identify with it.

- I love and hate Sam; she is shallow in her own way. In the show, I found myself flip-flopping between really liking her and really hating her, especially for wanting Danny to destroy the big gas-guzzling truck (do your own bidding missy, and what about the poor people that work there; destroying it is dangerous), snubbing the other female characters for being stereotypically femenine (which is ALSO VALID SAM, SHEESH), and the way she handled Danny's troubles in Phantom Planet. That hurt to watch (and not in a good way), and was so so off and wrong imo.

Yes she could've been written so much better, but overall I just don't like her that much. I do however, like the fanon concept of Sam/Paulina learning to like each other's differences (altho I haven't really seen/read much).

- Clockwork: he plain doesn't interest me. I've seen it said before, and it was that he feels more like a plot device. He does, I agree, and also want to add that because of his... omnipotence, he lacks personality. Not even any fun personality quirks that shine through, and not enough intrigue as to who he was in life (that I can remember, which, sorta speaks for itself). He reads like an open book, except the book is blank.

Fanon Clockwork is only mildly more palatable imo, but uh, sorry fam idrc about him as of yet ^-^'

- Ice Powers: Ok, cryokenisis is cool, but it was haphazardly shoehorned in, as was the Far Frozen. Danny's list of powers was already extensive, I really don't think he needed the cryokenesis too. However, I do like the concept of elemental cores. I think I'd take an lightning/electric core over an ice core because I can't think of anything that suggests any affinity with ice, and the lightning one is more of a nod to how he died, as with the Lichtenburg figures (which I adore).

While we're on the topic, Danny's ghost sense is pretty cool, but I'd probably incorporate a bigg shimver because "someone just walked over my grave", eerie liminal shiver, and also a ghost's presence dropping the temperature.

I'm not sure if this is unpolular tho, but I've seen it a bit in fics

- Dan: I also don't like him. And he's half Vlad's ghost form. Too much Vlad. Yuck. If he were just Corrupted Phantom, I think I would like him better, but as he stands, I don't. Also I really don't enjoy the trope 'the one one powerful enough to put up a fight against the hero is their evil version'. I've watched the Flash and it was done to death, Cap Cold was the best because he didn't have superpowers, and he was an interesting foil and character.

I do like the way Danny angsts over becoming like that (i.e. evil and nasty), but like, could be done without Vlad. And could be more feral which I think adds more angst. Because what's more angsty than losing control over your incredibly OP powers and hurting and destroying everyone and everything you ever loved?

Can you tell i'm a fan of the feral ghost headcanon?

I would let Danno's hair look like seething lightning or smthn cool ^-^
